7.2.5. Replacing silent blocks of rear suspension arms
With a certain skill, silent blocks can be replaced directly on the car by unscrewing the beam mounting bolts to the body brackets and removing the beam lugs from the brackets, but it is more convenient to do this work on the removed rear suspension beam (see Fig. "Replacement of the rear suspension beam").
It is very convenient to replace silent blocks with a special device (puller), but you can do the work with improvised means.
You will need: a silent block remover or a mandrel.
When using a puller
1. Before pressing out, heat the eye of the lever with hot air to a temperature of 50–75 ° C, after cutting out two cuts with a hacksaw IN() on the outer sleeve of the silent block to align the protrusions of the mounting sleeve 15. Pressing out is carried out in the following order: install the tool body 4 on the eye of the lever from the outside, put the mounting sleeve 5 with the protrusions on the bolt 6, insert the bolt into the hole of the silent block, put it on it with reverse side lug of the lever washer 3, rest it in the body of the device 4 and tighten the nut 2 until the silent block is pressed out.
2. Press bushings with pre-cut cutouts into both rear suspension arms IN mounting device in the following order: install the tool body 11 on the lever eye from the outside, aligning the marks A on the body of the fixture and the eye of the lever, shown by the arrow; install a thrust washer 12 on the bolt 13, insert it into the lever eye, put a new silent block 10 on the bolt, a mounting sleeve 9 with projections and screw on the nut 8. Orient the silent block with respect to the lever, as shown in , and press it flush with the end of the lever eye .
When using improvised means perform the following operations.
1. Install the beam in a vise and press out the silent block with a mandrel of a suitable diameter or a puller.

Raise the car, remove rear wheels. We unscrew the two nuts by 10 that hold the cable hand brake, with the same wrench, unscrew the nut securing the ABS sensor wire.
We unscrew with a 14 key, these 4 bolts:
Now the lever on one side is “released”. We throw off the handbrake cable, for this we remove the stopper and take it out of the hook. The stopper is conveniently removed using ordinary pliers:
Then we pull it off the hook with our hands. With a 19 head, we unscrew the two bolts of the silent blocks (left and right):
When unscrewing, be sure to hold the lever so that it does not fall on your head. We put marks on the lever to put a new silent block in exactly the same way, without displacement.
We take a new silent block, we have it original from KIA, order number 55274-3W000, we also put marks on it, relative to which we will press it. For pressing, we needed a piece of pipe, with an inner diameter of 84, put it down, put a mandrel on top of 82, squeeze out the old silent block with a press:
We will press the new silent block on the other hand, before that we align it according to our marks. We do the pressing. Please note that silent blocks have attachments of different lengths, a short one goes out:
Inside there is a long one and the silent block protrudes more inward than outward. We do the installation threaded connections I recommend to lubricate immediately copper grease. The assembly takes place in the reverse order, the video shows the entire assembly process step by step.

Kia Sportage III. REAR SUSPENSION
DESIGN FEATURES
Rear suspension independent, multi-link spring (two transverse levers on a front-wheel drive car and three transverse levers on an all-wheel drive car and one trailing arm on each side), with telescopic shock absorbers, coil springs and a stabilizer roll stability.
Shock absorber 1 (Fig. 7.3) of the rear suspension performs the function of a damping element for vertical vibrations of the wheel relative to the body, is equipped with a compression buffer and top support. The shock absorber is connected to the knuckle 9 with a bolt. The transverse levers 3, 7 and are attached to the fist 9 and the cross member b with the help of silent blocks.
The load on the car body is transmitted through a separately installed spring 2 (see Fig. 7.3 and 7.4).
The control lever 4 (see Fig. 7.4) is attached to the fist 6 with ball joint, and to the cross member 1 - using a silent block.
The trailing arm 8 (see Fig. 7.3) connects the fist to the body through the silent block. The rear suspension crossbar is attached to the side members of the body.
Anti-roll bar 5 with mounted on it rubber bushings connected to the crossbar with two brackets, and with the lower arm 7 of the rear suspension - with stabilizer struts 4.

Camber angles rear wheels adjust the eccentric bolts of the lower transverse levers to the cross member of the rear suspension.
The convergence of the rear wheels is regulated by eccentric bolts for fastening the control levers 4 (see Fig. 7.4) to the cross member of the rear suspension.

The head does not fit on top, so use a box wrench. Next bolt rear silent block, here the head is 19, the nut is 19 on top:
What is convenient here is the stabilizer to the lever “not tied up”, it goes to the rack. The lever does not just move away from the ball joint, therefore, it is necessary to apply two three biting blows with a hammer on one and the other stud so that the ball moves away:
Now the lever can be pulled out. We put marks on the “ebb” of the rubber with a marker, so that later we can put a new silent block in the same way:
We have new silent blocks original number front 54551-2S000, rear 54584-2S000 in the spare parts catalog. Before squeezing out the old silent blocks, we loosen them a little with a metal screwdriver and a hammer, along the edge where there is no rubber:
Due to this, the load on the press can be done less. We squeeze out with the help of a mandrel press and a head on 27 or 28:
We do the same with the other silent. We press in new ones, before that, parts and their seats lubricate silicone grease. We put the ebbs according to our marks and press them in:
Press the front one in the same way. We put the lever in the reverse order. According to the rules, silent blocks must be tightened on a car under load, ideal options would be viewing hole. You can then do this at the collapse of the convergence.
