New Hyundai Santa Fe: ruble prices and start of sales in Russia. New Hyundai Santa Fe - the fourth generation of recognition Hyundai Santa Fe new body configuration

One of the most prolific Asian manufacturers, Hyundai never ceases to delight its fans, not only creating new model lines and configurations within them, but also periodically releasing new generations of existing cars - in particular, the 2019 Santa Fe (photo below).

The question of which class the new Hyundai Santa Fe belongs to (photo below) is not at all accidental. The line of cars, named after the American resort town located in New Mexico, includes five-, six- and seven-seater models, the length of which ranges from mid-size crossovers to small SUVs produced by the same Hyundai or its compatriot and closest competitor Kia .

For Hyundai, which uses the Western classification, there is no problem at all: Santa Fe 2019 (photo below), like its predecessors, belongs to the SUV class, which can include crossovers, SUVs, and some other types of large vehicles. What should domestic motorists do, who cannot or do not want to simply ignore this issue? The simplest and probably the most logical answer is to turn to existing experience. In Russia, Hyundai Santa Fe cars are traditionally classified as crossovers - so be it.

The first difficult question is resolved; the second, much simpler, is to which generation the new Santa Fe of the 2019 model can be attributed (photo below). The answer is to the third, and not to the fourth, despite the large time gap between the start of its production and the current year. Crossovers have been produced by Hyundai since 2000. The second generation saw the light in 2007, and the release date of the third fell on the summer months of 2012. There has been no serious restyling since then, and the new Santa Fe will become a real sensation - unless the manufacturer's marketers ruin everything once again.

The point is the habit of the Koreans (this reproach can be shared by both Hyundai and Kia, and some Chinese and Russian manufacturers) as much as possible to “cut down” the list of options included in the basic configurations of even far from cheap cars. Most often, the impact falls on peripheral airbags (the manufacturer can leave only two front, or even one for the driver) and fog lights, as well as systems directly related to the safety of the driver and passengers. It is difficult to call such behavior logical: excessive "economicality" (rather - greed) of the manufacturer will inevitably repel a number of buyers who are not ready to pay a little more so as not to constantly keep in mind the thought of possible injuries in case of danger.

The new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe (pictured below) is neither a success nor a failure for the South Korean auto giant in this respect. A crossover of any configuration, and there are six in total, will be equipped with seven high-quality airbags that can withstand a colossal shock load, and in addition, a separate pad for the driver's knees, which cannot but rejoice. On the other hand, there are no fog lights as standard, which complicates or even makes it impossible to drive a car in conditions of poor visibility. The lucky owner of the 2019 Santa Fe will either have to purchase and install foglights as accessories, or simply give up the idea of driving in inappropriate weather.

With the engines and chassis of the Hyundai Santa Fe (photo below), everything is much better: three types of engines (one diesel and two gasoline) produce power from 185 to 290 horsepower, which is more than enough for city driving and rural travel terrain.

Clearance is another sign by which the new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe (photo below) should be attributed specifically to crossovers, designed primarily for city driving. 21 cm of body lift above the ground is quite enough for a comfortable ride around the city, but it is not enough for rough terrain.

So, driving a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe (photo below) on difficult terrain or in the absence of roads is highly discouraged; however, this is not a reason to completely abandon forays into nature. Whether it's a family outing, an outdoor sporting event, a backpacking trip or even a multi-day camping trip, it's not only enjoyable, it's also easy to do with the new crossover: the driver just needs to choose a route and start moving. All the necessary equipment - bicycles, tents, provisions, agricultural tools, building materials, fishing tackle - can be placed in the Hyundai Santa Fe's spacious luggage compartment, which is not inferior to more expensive analogues from Toyota, BMW or Mercedes. And what, for some reason, did not enter the car, the driver can easily fix on the roof of Santa Fe, even in the basic configuration equipped with standard semi-open "Hyundai" roof rails.

For those for whom such semi-functional devices are not enough, Hyundai, as usual, offers accessories:

  • high through rails, making it possible to fix objects directly on the roof without using the upper closed box;
  • cross bars attached to the longitudinal rails;
  • bicycle holders.

And, of course, like any car claiming modernity and increased comfort, the Santa Fe 2019 (photo below) will be equipped with a panoramic illuminated roof. The manufacturer has not yet announced anything about the possibility of installing a simple sliding sunroof, manual or electric, or choosing a solid (non-panoramic) roof. It is very likely that such options will be provided, especially for crossovers designed for harsh Russian conditions: unlike Americans or Koreans, domestic motorists are much less likely to need an open roof.

Yes, it launches natural sunlight into the car, which is most favorable for the eyes, and also allows you to ventilate the interior during stops, or even right on the go. But many regions of Russia already suffer from a lack of sunlight, and airing a car from above is a dubious entertainment throughout almost the entire year (with the exception of the warm spring and summer months). Thus, for a domestic car enthusiast, the panoramic roof of the new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe (photo below) will be more of a decorative than a truly functional element.

Only a few months are left before the start of crossover sales in Russia, and for a motorist who wants to update his Santa Fe or try driving a new crossover, it's time to study the information about the new product in more detail, get acquainted with its appearance and technical characteristics and decide for yourself whether it is worth South Korean car of the amount requested by the manufacturer. The following brief overview of the mid-size crossover will help him in this.

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe exterior (exterior photo)

Whatever version (five-, six- or seven-seater) the buyer of the new Hyundai Santa Fe chooses (photo below), the car body in any case cannot be called infantile. This is the advantage of standardized models from the South Korean manufacturer, which to some extent outweighs the disadvantages of a uniform approach to the appearance of the car.

The body of the 2019 Santa Fe (photo below) looks, admittedly, very good, although it is very similar to other crossovers and SUVs from Hyundai. Solid and powerful, cleared of all the elements that gave previous models aggressiveness, the car attracts attention more with its dimensions than with original design solutions.

The new Santa Fe (photo below) is fully consistent with the revised concept of Hyundai cars: now the representative appearance is at the forefront, and not unexpected, exotic outlines or blind imitation of European classics, which is characteristic not only of Koreans, but also Chinese, and sometimes Japanese. Perhaps such a transition from one paradigm to another is connected with the plans of the South Korean manufacturer to bring some of its products into a higher price category.

The face of any car is the grille, and the new 2019 Santa Fe (pictured below) has it in the shape of a horizontal hexagon, the lower sides of which are shorter than the upper ones; this creates a sense of upward movement and general mobility. Already thanks to this detail, a large crossover will not seem clumsy or bulky, while maintaining all the solidity required from the car. The grille is crossed horizontally by five chromed metal strips; between the top three of them there is a large emblem of the manufacturer, inscribed in an oval.

Fortunately, Hyundai's designers are all right with a sense of proportion: the chrome on the surface of the new 2019 Santa Fe (photo below) is just the right amount. The crossover does not seem too boring and standard, like some new items from BMW or Porsche, nor a shiny trinket or phantasmagoric monster, which is typical of Chinese auto products, literally flooded with chrome from top to bottom.

Chrome elements on the "nose" of the new Hyundai Santa Fe add up to a harmonious ensemble, consisting of:

  • radiator grilles;
  • Hyundai emblems;
  • external edging of the side compartments of the air intake, combined with fog lights.

All crossover optics, regardless of configuration, are LED, reliable and durable. LED headlights need to be replaced less often and, as practice shows, they are more resistant to mechanical damage: the driver may not be afraid to be without light at the most inopportune time.

Hyundai uses smooth and transparent, non-corrugated glass in the production of front optics, so you can see its components - however, completely ordinary:

  • low beam lights;
  • driving lights;
  • turning signals.

Of course, it would be nice to shade the main elements of the headlights with a chain of single LEDs: it would not only be beautiful, but also practical: in the event of a failure of the leading light sources, which cannot be completely eliminated even with the latest technology, these chains would at least indicate the dimensions of the vehicle. But what is not, is not, and LED chains are unlikely to appear even in future versions of the Santa Fe (at least for a few more years).

The next, no less significant element of the “nose” of the car is a large, but not too wide air intake, divided into three parts: the lower horizontal and side, located in the same niches as the fog lights.

And here the decision of the designers of the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe can only be admired. As you know, an open air intake, and most modern cars use just such elements, greatly reduces the overall strength of the “nose” of the car, which is detrimental in a frontal or frontal side collision. It is absolutely impossible to get rid of this problem without leaving the open type of air intake; it remains only to strengthen the design of the "nose", adding stiffeners and individual protective elements. The air intake of the new Hyundai Santa Fe is placed outside the front bumper in a separate thick-walled frame, restoring strength to its original value. With this approach, even the metal protective plate, usually placed at the very bottom of the bumper, is not needed. Of course, the driver can also install this element, but there is no great need for it: a strong frame that takes the first blow guarantees not only the safety of the driver and passengers, but also the safety of the body - at a collision speed of up to 60 km / h.

The last element of the mid-size crossover's frontal look is the sumptuous bonnet with a slightly raised center plateau and lower side sections. The central part of the cover expands from the grille to the windshield; thus, this detail of the exterior of the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe serves as a natural extension of the grille, forming with it a complex, symmetrical geometric pattern.

The bonnet opens at the perfect angle into a lightly tinted windshield that protects the driver from direct sunlight. This problem is not particularly relevant for Russia, but in the summer months sun protection will not be superfluous even in harsh domestic conditions.

The windshield, framed by narrow strips of metal and offering the driver a maximum view of the road, goes into a panoramic roof, the opaque parts of which are painted in body color. Options with contrasting colors in the range offered by Hyundai are not yet available, but in the future, it is quite possible that they will dilute the color monotony of the crossover.

In total, Hyundai has prepared 16 color options for the new Santa Fe 2019:

  1. For five-seater modification Sport:
    • pearl white (Pearl White);
    • silver (Sparkling Silver);
    • dark gray (Mineral Gray);
    • graphite (Platinum Graphite);
    • black (Twilight Black);
    • blue (Marlin Blue);
    • dark blue (Nightfall Blue);
    • saturated red (Serrano Red).
  2. For six- or seven-seat SE modification:
    • white (Monaco White);
    • silver (Circuit Silver);
    • metallic gray (Iron Frost);
    • black (Becketts Black);
    • coffee (Java Espresso);
    • dark blue (Storm Blue);
    • grey-blue (Night Sky Pearl);
    • red (Regal Red Pearl).

The side mirrors of the new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe are protected from below by a layer of high-strength plastic that can withstand side impacts; the upper metal part in any version is painted in body color - other options are not provided by the manufacturer today.

The mid-size crossover comes with light-alloy wheels with radii from 17 to 20 inches (depending on the configuration and choice of the buyer). On the one hand, having a choice is always good, but on the other hand, the client will have to pay for the opportunity to make a decision with a side view of the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe slightly spoiled by too large wheel arches (photo below).

Two pleasant factors compensate for this lack of appearance:

  • wheel arches are given a perfectly round shape, much prettier than rounded squares or rectangles;
  • not too voluminous stamping of the arches, which does not create a feeling of “puffiness” of the new crossover.

Unlike the wheel arches, the lateral line of the windows of the new Hyundai Santa Fe is very good, if not perfect: expanding strongly at the very beginning, it gradually narrows towards the “tail” of the car, while maintaining a pleasant roundness of shape. The manufacturer abandoned strictly straight outlines: the contour of the side line is slightly convex, in perfect harmony with the stamping on the doors and even with decorative sill inserts at the bottom of the doors.

The upper edge of the stamping passes through a line of handles protruding above the surface. And here Hyundai decided not to be original, abandoning the “drowned” or hidden vertical handles that were actively planted in the recent past, which caused a lot of criticism.

The rear view of the new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe (photo below) is completely standard, but not bad:

  • The rear door with a wide, non-rectangular glass, giving the driver the best possible view of the road behind him, is equipped with a neat little spoiler with a signal repeater and an automatically starting wiper blade.
  • Huge asymmetrical headlights, red on top and white on the bottom, go both to the tailgate and to the “sides” of the crossover. For greater effect, they are underlined from below by a moon-shaped indentation, starting and ending at the extreme outer corners of the headlights.
  • Huge rectangular marker lights are located in shallow protective niches with a small chrome border around the outer edges.
  • The exhaust pipes are led into trapezoidal niches with chrome edges, located directly in the rear metal protection of the body.

The rear door is also adorned with a chrome-plated Hyundai emblem, the inscription "Santa Fe" and the serial designation of the engine. The registration number of the crossover is mounted on a platform raised up, located in a niche that protects it from splashes of dirt and dust.

Interior (car interior photo)

As already noted, the maximum capacity of the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe (photo below) is from five to seven people (depending on configuration). Accordingly, the seats in the crossover are arranged in two or three rows.

The second-row seats can be either combined into a “sofa” (seven-seater saloon) or remain completely autonomous with their own electric drives (photo below; six-seater modification). The latter option is used in the expensive Limited Ultimate configuration and is not found in other versions of the crossover.

The Korean manufacturer, as always, double and triple seats for rear passengers are very uncomfortable for Europeans who are larger than Asians. And if two adults can still fit on the double seats of the third row, the passenger sitting in the middle of the triple “sofa” will have a hard time, unless it is a thin teenager. Otherwise, he will inevitably be doomed throughout the trip to draw his shoulders in and try not to move once again, so as not to cause inconvenience to people sitting on the sides.

On the dashboard of the new Hyundai Santa Fe (photo below), covered with a sun visor, are:

  • analog tachometer and speedometer in their own deep wells;
  • combined with them scales of oil temperature and fuel level sensors;
  • a rectangular screen of the on-board computer, which presents other relevant or simply interesting data.

The center console of the crossover (photo below) is equipped with:

  • 8- or 9-inch, depending on the configuration, touch screen;
  • two deflectors with their own washers for adjusting the direction of the air flow (the second pair of deflectors is spaced along the edges of the panel);
  • a well-organized panel of auxiliary buttons and fine-tuning washers, which even an inexperienced driver will not get confused.

The center console flows into a high tunnel (photo below), where are located:

  • niche for recharging mobile devices;
  • high gearshift lever with anti-slip coating;
  • functional keys and washers for electric seat drives and climate control in the passenger compartment (in advanced versions);
  • a pair of cup holders across the tunnel;
  • armrest for the driver, hiding a deep niche for small items.

Additional system control buttons are also located on the stylish four-spoke steering wheel, the anatomical shape of which will not allow the driver's hands to break even after a long drive over difficult terrain.

In any configuration, the new Hyundai Santa Fe is equipped with a sliding panoramic roof (photo below). At night, the driver and front passenger can turn on the spotlights directly above their seats. The same lamps can be purchased for other passengers; in addition, the manufacturer installs soft peripheral lighting in the 2019 Santa Fe, which is pleasing to the eye and makes it easier to drive the vehicle in the evening, at night, or in conditions of poor visibility.

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe - video

New Hyundai Santa Fe 2018 model year experienced a generational change. The large Hyundai Santa Fe crossover received a lot of external changes, the Koreans also corrected the interior. The premiere of the novelty took place in Korea, where dealers are already taking orders. The world presentation is scheduled for March, as part of the Geneva Motor Show. In Russia, a model of a large 7-seater crossover will come in the summer.

Recently, a restyled version of the large Kia Sorento Prime was introduced in Russia, which is built on a common platform by the same Santa Fe. Most likely in the Russian market, the new generation Santa Fe will receive the same set of engines and the latest 8-band automatic transmission, plus a powerful V6 petrol developing 249 horsepower.

Exterior 4th generation Santa Fe has gone through a major transformation. A huge radiator grill with a chrome strip on top passing to the head optics. The headlights have turned into a multi-level system of LED elements. Huge wheel arches with a complex design form immediately stand out in the silhouette. The length of the body has increased by 7 centimeters, the wheelbase has been stretched by 6.5 centimeters. The width of the body has increased by only 1 centimeter, and the height has remained the same. See photos of new items in our gallery.

Salon family crossover became larger and more spacious, due to the increase in the size of the wheelbase. The front console has been re-created. The touchscreen has been moved higher, and the instrument panel is striking in its digital capabilities. Deliveries of modifications with three rows of seats to Russia are still in question. After all, dealers in our market mainly offered 5-seater versions of the cabin. The trunk received an additional 40 liters of volume.

Specifications of the new Hyundai Santa Fe

The rigidity of the body was increased by 15 percent through the use of high-strength steel. Now, instead of the hydraulic power steering, there will be an electric version. As for all-wheel drive, there were rumors that now the model will be rear-wheel drive, and front-wheel drive will be connected as needed. In this regard, nothing has changed - the front-wheel drive acts as the main one, and the rear axle is connected by a clutch. If previously they installed an electro-hydraulic clutch that did not have a good reaction speed, now the latest HTRAC electric clutch will stand.

In the Korean market, buyers were offered three engines that most likely will not reach us. This is a 2-liter gasoline turbo unit developing 235 hp. and two diesel engines with a volume of 2 and 2.2 liters with a capacity of 186 and 202 horses, respectively. Engines for European markets will be named in Geneva.

Review

The South Korean manufacturer introduced the new fourth-generation Hyundai Santa Fe 2019. Despite the fact that the world premiere was scheduled for March 2019, the hype among prospective buyers began long before the debut of the crossover.

In advance of the public demonstration of the crossover, Korean dealers accepted more than 14 thousand applications for the purchase of "Santa". It is surprising that motorists did not even see the then future novelty.

What is so fond of Hyundai Santa Fe?

Exterior

Of the main updates - the presence of designer double-decker headlights, a wide grille. The wheel arches have also changed, which have become even more massive. In the new Hyundai Santa Fe 2019 appeared:

  • unique rear-view mirrors mounted on decorative legs;
  • "minivan" triangles located on the front doors in the corners of the windows.

In addition, the window sill line has risen higher, which made it possible to make the crossover silhouette even more stylish and original. But such innovations had practically no effect on the aerodynamic drag coefficient (if Santa Fe of previous generations it was 0.34 units, then for the presented model it is 0.337 units).

The changes also affected the dimensions of the Hyundai Santa Fe 2019:

  • the car has become longer by 70 mm (its length is 477 cm);
  • the wheelbase stretched by 65 mm and is 2765 mm;
  • the car became wider by 1 cm (189 cm), but remained the same in height (168 cm).

The rigidity of the new crossover body has also significantly improved (by 15.4%). The rate of hot stamping of the structure also increased by 2.5 times, which made the car even more reliable and durable. This is what made it possible to increase the level of passive safety, significantly reduce noise and vibration during movement.

Interior

In Hyundai Santa Fe, in unison with the exterior, the interior has also changed. There were many exquisite horizontal lines, as well as tablet free-standing media systems. The internal volume of the cabin, as well as the dimensions of the car, the developers have also increased - it has become more spacious and free.

The mechanism of the second row of seats has been improved - now they are assembled in one motion. When buying, it became possible to order a version of the Hyundai Santa Fe 2019 with a third row of seats. The trunk has become much more spacious: the volume has increased to 625 liters. in the five-seater version and up to 130 hp. at the seven-seater.

A seven-inch display was installed in the center of the dashboard, which displays trip computer data and a speedometer. The following features have become available:

  • voice control (the system was developed together with the Korean company "Kakao");
  • "Apple CarPlay";
  • remote control of certain tasks directly from a mobile phone (for these purposes, it is necessary to install a special application on a smartphone). You can start the engine, check the fuel level or unlock the doors.

In the Hyundai Santa Fe 2019 model year appeared:

  • wireless charging system for smartphone;
  • instrument readings projector (displayed on the windshield);
  • cameras that allow for a circular view;
  • Krell audio system.

Significantly changed and the appearance of the cabin. The seats have acquired a designer shape, many bending and smooth lines have appeared.

Technical filling

Hyundai Santa Fe manufacturers did not completely abandon the range of engines of past generations of cars. All previous types of engines have moved to the fourth version of Hyundai. Buyers can purchase a car:

  • with a 2-liter petrol turbo four (T-GDi) and 235 horsepower;
  • with a diesel engine R2.0 with a capacity of 186 horsepower;
  • with a diesel engine R2.2 with a capacity of 202 horsepower.

In the new crossover body, the transmission has been completely updated:

  • a version with a unique HTRAC all-wheel drive system appeared;
  • it is possible to purchase a modification with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe has permanent front-wheel drive, but now the rear-wheel drive clutch is all-electric. An electric power steering was installed on the rack and pinion mechanism, which is also a novelty.

The updated crossover has fully automatic braking systems. Additionally, the car is equipped with an automatic headlight switch (from high beam to low beam). Equipped with the fourth generation Hyundai Santa Fe 2019, the world's first reminder system for "forgotten" rear passengers when leaving the car.

Experts are confident that the new Hyundai Santa Fe 2019 body has become even safer and more reliable than its predecessor.
