Audi a6 c6: specifications, review, description, photo, equipment. Audi A6 (C6) - model description Competitor comparison

The car allows you not to seem solid, but to be so. The sixth model of Audi 97 - 04 onwards. looks presentable, but not cocky, like a "boomer" and not pompous, like a Mercedes. Modest and tasteful.

Among the second-hand, you can find cars that were originally sold in our country. Audi has been very popular in recent years. Although there are European versions.

Body and chassis

Previously, the sixth model had 2 body options: station wagon and sedan. They are not uncommon in our country, not like Mercedes or Boomer station wagons.

Audi compares favorably with a galvanized body, since it is not at all afraid of the salts that corrode the paintwork of cars of other brands. The only thing that reagents can threaten is glass lifters. Replacement is quite expensive.

It is not cheap to replace the chassis levers made of aluminum. Often, among fans of aggressive driving, they do not live up to 60,000 km. A set of new levers will cost at least 17,000 rubles. They are not designed for domestic roads. Consumables also include traction and front stabilizer struts.

Motor and transmission

The A6 is characterized by a rich variety of gasoline engines: from a simple 1.8-liter to v 6 and v 8! There are also diesel versions that are widely used in Europe. Almost all engines are durable, but capricious. If the filter and oil are not changed in time, valve hydraulic compensators fail. A distinctive feature of Audi is also the increased oil consumption in middle-aged cars. Sometimes it takes up to 1 liter per 1000 km. The situation worsens with age.

The most economical engines are 1.8 liters, 1.8 liters turbo. However, if the turbine breaks down, get ready to part with at least 50 thousand rubles. The 1.8 T AWT engine is in high demand in the used spare parts market, its price is about 60 thousand rubles.

In the secondary market, the most common version is with a v 6 2.4 liter engine. It is widely recognized for its economical maintenance and engine power. One of its disadvantages is increased oil consumption.

Perfectionists prefer v8 with 300 hp. However, the repair of this version and replacement will cost no less than the repair of the eighth, more representative model.

For lovers of driving, a v 6 engine with two turbines is suitable, however, if the turbines fail already at 130,000 km, you will have to fork out big.

Used diesel versions are not widely used in our country. The reason is the finicky of the engine to fuel, which makes it necessary to overhaul the engines.

As for the transmission, there are no complaints about the manual transmission. 9 years after the purchase, she continues to serve faithfully. Tiptronic automatic transmission has its own nuances. She dies already at 140,000 km.

Many are wary of second-hand all-wheel drive vehicles. And completely in vain. With proper care everything will be fine.

Their only negative is the frequent malfunctions of fuel level controllers. Often they show quite an acceptable level, when in fact it approaches zero.

Price.

The secondary market is characterized by a variety of prices for cars made in Germany. They offer both killed specimens and models in almost perfect condition. When buying a car, be sure to contact a specialist. Minimum price - 240,000 rubles

Possessing a lot of advantages, the sixth model at any age requires considerable investment. When deciding on an expensive purchase, keep in mind that the Audi A6 repair will not be cheap.

The Audi A6 is one of the most popular models of the company, an upper middle class car, the successor to the Audi 100.

The release of the C4 lineup under the name Audi 100 / S4 continued until May 1994, when they carried out a radical restyling and introduced a new index - A6. They changed the shape of the hood and the pattern of the radiator grille, the front direction indicators changed their color from orange to milky white. The rear lights have become wider (the trunk keyhole has even moved to the right). Updated front and rear bumpers, as well as overhead side moldings on the bottom of the doors.

The Audi A6 is available with a fully galvanized body, with front or full (quattro) drive, a wide range of petrol (including dual supercharging) and diesel (with direct injection) engines located longitudinally in front, with manual and automatic transmissions.

Reliable and perfect chassis (platform factory designation - C4) remained the same. All representatives of the Audi A6 / S6 lineup, which lasted three years on the assembly line, are extremely diverse. Since August 1995, a sports all-wheel drive version of the Audi S6 (Q1 -type) has appeared. It is distinguished by an additional emblem on the radiator grille, a 20 mm lowered body position due to a preloaded sports suspension, low-profile 225/50 ZR16 tires and 7.5J light alloy wheels, more rigid seat trim with especially developed lateral support only in leather. The engines were inherited from the predecessor S4: a 230-horsepower 2.2-liter V6 (AAN) and a 290-horsepower 4.2-liter V8 (ABH) from the Audi V8.

The Avant station wagon (in Germany they are called combi), produced since 1991 under the name 100 Avant, continues to be produced in the same form, but under the A6 index. These five-door station wagons are more like hatchbacks with increased usable volume - just right for short trips out of town if there is no country trailer. They have many convenient pockets for "small things", but on long trips, no more than four will be comfortable in the cabin.

But the sedan’s large trunk volume of 510 liters (10 liters more than that of the BMW 7 Series), spacious interior, excellent sound insulation (even after many years of hard use), high power supply and the Procon-ten security system are just those advantages that give the Audi A6 sedans an advantage over other reputable brands. Let's add to the above and a more relaxed image of the Audi brand, which is appreciated by many wealthy people who are disgusted by the very cool image of BMW.

From its predecessor, the A6 inherited an extensive range of economical, high-power-to-weight ratio and dynamic petrol and diesel engines, the most popular of which were petrol V-sixes, which accounted for more than half of new car sales. Abandoned only outdated engines: gasoline AAR (2.3 l) and turbodiesel AAS (2.4 l). Since the summer of 1994, several new power units have been added to the range. The buyer, counting every penny spent on the purchase and operation of the machine, will be more suitable options with a 20-valve 1.8-liter 125-horsepower gasoline engine (ADR) and a 90-horsepower turbodiesel (1Z) with a displacement of 1.9 liters. It is noteworthy that they are equipped with a very successful five-speed manual transmission, which is also installed on all-wheel drive versions of the Quattro. From the same period, the Audi A6 TDI began to be equipped with a new five-cylinder 2.5-liter 140-horsepower turbodiesel (AEC with a turbocharger and an intercooler).

October 1995 for Audi, as well as for fans of high-speed varieties of these cars, was marked by the appearance of new gasoline 30-valve 2.8-liter 193-horsepower V6 engines (ASK). The maximum speed of the A6 with this engine is 225 km/h (229 km/h for Quattro).

All models of the C4 platform were removed from production in the summer of 1997 in connection with the development of a completely new A6 (4B-type).

The new generation Audi A6 was first presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1997 (sedan). In February 1998, the A6 Avant station wagon was introduced.

This series was the first to embody new ideas about the corporate identity of Audi. It is no coincidence that the architecture of the A6 echoes the design of the sports model TT. So far, no production car of the company has looked so unusual. The chassis of the car looks less revolutionary. In addition to the usual front-wheel drive scheme, there is a Quattro modification with permanent all-wheel drive.

The exterior design of the Audi A6 matches that of the Audi brand: a sloping roofline, a massive stern and no protruding bumpers. The new Audi A6 is bigger and looks like a luxury car. The body is completely galvanized.

There are three interior trim options Advance ("perfection"), Ambition ("ambition") and Ambiente ("calm"), which differ in interior design - using fabric and inlaid wood and aluminum dashboard. Salon Audi A6 station wagon is quite spacious, the number of seats increased to seven. In the form of special additional equipment, it is offered: a roof rack, a net for it and a dividing net inside the cabin.

The standard equipment of the car includes: side airbags, three head restraints in the rear seat, nets for securing luggage, a steering wheel adjustable in height and depth, three head restraints in the rear seat, a luggage curtain, massive eyelets for securing cargo, side pockets for an emergency stop sign and first aid kits, as well as handles for the rear hatch. The cargo area is enlarged by tilting the asymmetrically divided backrest down onto the seats.

The serial standard model Audi A6 Pack received new additional equipment: a steering wheel in a leather cover, a speed controller, an on-board computer and a device that reports the distance to nearby objects when parking. The cold climate package includes a heated steering wheel.

High driving performance of the car is ensured by: a monocoque body with a front subframe, a new suspension (front axle with 4-arm suspension, suspension struts, rear axle with wheel suspension on connected trailing arms, coil springs, anti-roll bar front and rear, telescopic shock absorbers).

Almost all types of new Audi engines are installed on the car - from 1.8 T l to 4.2 l, including diesel engines of 1.9 l biturbo and 2.5 l TDI.

All petrol engines from the 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 150 hp. and two V-shaped "sixes" with a working volume of 2.4 and 2.8 liters, have five valves per cylinder. In 1998, three new units, known from the A4 series, were added to them. These are a 1.8-liter four-cylinder with 125 hp, a 2.7-liter turbocharged V-6 with 230 hp, and a six-cylinder direct injection turbodiesel developing 150 hp. The cars are equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed "automatic" with a dynamic DSP program, which takes into account not only the driving style of the driver, but also the grip of the tires on the road. The built-in Tiptronic system allows, if necessary, to switch to manual control. A four-speed "automatic" works together with a 1.9-liter TDI diesel.

In autumn 1999, the Audi S6 was first introduced - a sports modification of the Audi A6 model with a 4.2-V8 engine and all-wheel drive.

In the first half of 2004, the third generation Audi A6 went on sale. Initially, a sedan was introduced, a station wagon added a little later, and in 2005 a sports coupe appeared.

The development of the appearance was carried out under the leadership of the new chief designer Walter De Silva. Appearance Audi A6 2004 has undergone significant changes. The most visible exterior element, the large trapezoidal grille inspired by the legendary Auto Union racing cars, will now be the main design element of the cars from Ingolstadt. The car looks dynamic and "muscular" due to the large wheels and bulging wheel arches. The car received body panels made of aluminum, which will significantly reduce the weight of the model. In addition, individual elements of the chassis and suspension are made from the same "winged metal". One of the advantages of the Audi A6 2004 is a spacious, comfortable interior with quality finishes. The interior has been thoroughly redesigned. Designers have gone from the traditional cockpit layout: the center console and dashboard are visually combined. The console is slightly turned towards the driver. The instruments are also unusual - the location is the same, but the speedometer and tachometer lie in two "wells" of irregular shape, along with secondary indicators. There is also no familiar “handbrake” in the cab, instead of which an electromechanical parking brake is used, similar to that used on the Audi A8.

The range of engines includes three petrol engines and two turbodiesels. The most powerful A6 will be equipped with a 335 hp V8 4.2 engine. A new engine with direct injection V6 3.2 FSI (255 hp) will rise a step below. And the simplest gasoline engine is a 177-horsepower V6 with a volume of 2.4 liters. Diesel engines are also provided: a 2.0-liter turbodiesel with a capacity of 140 horsepower, a 3.0-liter turbodiesel with a capacity of 225 horsepower and a maximum torque of 450Nm.

Diesel engines use the Common Rail system. This system connects the cylinders to a common high pressure fuel line. A constant pressure is created in this high-pressure line, fuel is accumulated and distributed to the nozzles. The amount of fuel injected and the injection timing are controlled by the engine management system, either by means of solenoid valves on individual injectors or via piezo injectors. In systems with solenoid valves, the maximum injection pressure reaches 1800 bar.

Basic versions with 2.0 TDI and 2.4 V6 engines are front-wheel drive with manual gearboxes. Quattro branded all-wheel drive transmission in combination with an automatic transmission is offered only for the most powerful modifications.

The car received new electronic systems, the most famous of which is MMI (Multi Media Interface). MMI allows you to control the radio, navigation system, climate control and other vehicle systems with a single joystick. It is noteworthy that this system is included in the basic equipment. The basic version is also equipped with automatic climate control, headlight and rain sensors, ESP system, brake-assist system, front and side airbags (6 in total) and active head restraints. As an option, you can order adaptive cruise control, a DVD-based navigation system and an electronic proximity key. In addition, for a surcharge, it will be possible to order a sports suspension, which is underestimated by 20 millimeters.

The third-generation Audi A6 model quickly gained popularity due to its balanced appearance, combination of speed and power characteristics of the car. After three years, when 234,000 copies of this model were sold, Audi offered an updated version of the "six".

The car has become even better than before, retaining its magnificent appearance and still offering buyers a powerful line of engines and a spacious, beautiful interior. The appearance upgrade is minor. Designers slightly changed the shape of the sidewalls and the back. A new front bumper has appeared, the details of the radiator grille have changed - they visually increase the width of the car. The shape of the headlights and side mirrors has been changed, in addition, the sedan borrowed a pair of LED taillights from the Avant station wagon. Minor cosmetic changes have also been made inside.

But the main changes have taken place under the hood of the car. On average, the emission of harmful gases and fuel consumption by all engines of the series was reduced by 15%, plus even more powerful engines appeared in the line. The already obsolete diesel engines were replaced with a number of common rail diesel engines, which first appeared on the A4. Two engines were completely abandoned: the 3.2-liter V6 and 4.2-liter V8 were replaced by a completely new three-liter supercharged three-liter engine (286 hp). This engine is not only more powerful than the previous V6 by more than 13%, it has the same amount of torque as the V8 (3.2 liters).

The fourth generation was officially presented in January 2011 at the Detroit Motor Show. Outwardly, the novelty has something in common with the latest models of the brand; its design shows both the features of the flagship A8 sedan and the recently presented A7 Sportback. Distinctive features of the novelty are LED optics and LED taillights, a small spoiler integrated into the trunk lid, two round exhaust pipes and 16-inch alloy wheels. With the S-Line package, the car sports 19-inch wheels, a redesigned front bumper, diffuser and sports suspension.

The length of the fourth generation is 4920 mm, width - 1870 mm, height - 1460 mm, and the wheelbase stretched to 2910 mm. The body is mainly made of aluminum and various high-tech steels. The interior of the new Audi A6 is in many ways similar to the A7 sportback: the center console is crowned with a retractable 6.5-inch MMI system screen, the panel trim is made of aluminum and wood, and for an extra charge the car can be left with a 1300-watt Bang & Olufsen audio system, an advanced navigation system, 8-inch touch screen, Internet access and separate rear seats.

Among the basic standard equipment is an electronic stabilization system ESP, a drive select system, six airbags, dual-zone climate control, alloy wheels, electric and heated mirrors, an on-board computer, light and rain sensors, adaptive headlights. As an option, you will be offered an adjustable air suspension.

There are five power units for the new Audi A6 2011 - two petrol and three diesel. The most economical gasoline modification called 2.8 FSI is equipped with front-wheel drive. Under the hood is a 2.8-liter 204-horsepower engine, which is equipped only with a Multitronic CVT. The maximum speed of the Audi A6 2.8 FSI sedan is 240 km/h. Acceleration from zero to hundreds will take 7.7 seconds. The average consumption of gasoline is 7.4 liters per 100 km. CO2 emissions at 172 g/km. The second engine is a turbocharged 3.0 TFSI V6 with 300 hp. and a torque of 440 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h will take place in 5.5 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h. The average fuel consumption is 8.2 liters. per 100 km.

The weakest of the diesel engines is the updated four-cylinder 2.0 TDI with 177 hp. and a torque of 380 Nm. Paired with a manual transmission, the engine accelerates the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.7 seconds, with a top speed of 228 km/h. and average fuel consumption per 100 km - 4.9 liters. CO2 emissions are just 129 g/km. The middle position in diesel engines was taken by the 3.0 TDI V6, which has 204 hp. and a torque of 400 Nm. Paired with a Multitronic gearbox, the engine accelerates the car from 0 to 100 km / h in just 7.2 seconds. The maximum speed is 240 km/h. This equipment consumes 5.2 liters per 100 km and emits only 100 g of CO2 per kilometer. The most powerful is the 3.0 TDI, which has 245 hp. With it, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.1 seconds. The maximum speed is 250 km/h.

In October 2014, a restyled version of the Audi A6 was presented at the Paris Motor Show. The elegant exterior combines the democratic nature of the Audi A4 and the representativeness of the Audi A8. The front part is characterized by a predatory look with strict head optics, accentuated by LED cilia and bright xenon light. Standard for the updated Audi A6 are Xenon Plus headlights with LED touches of daytime running lights, as an option you can order full LED front optics - LED technology and even advanced Audi Matrix LED headlights with cornering trajectory function.

In the center is a massive radiator grille in the form of an inverted trapezoid, resting against the lower part of the bumper. The grille visually became even more massive, with pronounced horizontal stripes. The modified front bumper received large air intakes.

From the side, the restyled Audi A6 models are most easily distinguished by different sills and light-alloy forged R16-20 wheels with a new pattern design. The choice of rims and tires of various sizes is impressive: from the base 225/60 R16 or 225/55 R17, to the optional 235/55 R18, 245/45 R18, 255/45 R19, 255/40 R19, 255/35 R20.

At the rear, the design of the lanterns has changed, a chrome strip appeared on the trunk lid, and the shape of the exhaust pipes has changed.

The installation of bumpers other in shape led to an increase in the overall length of the body of the Audi A6 sedan to 4933 mm, and the Audi A6 Avant station wagon to 4943 mm. The manufacturer also worked on the aerodynamics of the updated body. As a result, the drag is Cx=0.263.

Every year the functionality of the interior of the Audi A6 is increasing before our eyes. The interior received a wider range of finishes, as well as a more advanced MMI Navigation Plus multimedia system.

As basic equipment, the new Audi A6 sedan and station wagon have a tire pressure monitoring system, xenon headlights and rear LED lights, fabric upholstery, mechanically adjustable front seats, a multifunctional leather-trimmed steering wheel with height and depth adjustment, exterior mirrors with electric drive, heating and LED repeaters, climate control, central locking with remote control, 5-inch TFT screen for driver information system in the instrument cluster, MMI Radio audio system with 6.5-inch color screen (CD MP3 WMA, AUX -IN port, USB, 8 speakers). As well as cruise control, electronic handbrake, electromechanical power steering, Audi Drive Select system (selection of engine, gearbox, steering, suspension modes).

As options, a huge list of premium finishing materials (genuine leather and wood, aluminum, carpet), modern equipment that provides a phenomenal level of comfort, and a lot of security systems.

For a surcharge, you can order electric folding exterior mirrors, 4-zone climate control, an autonomous heating system, electric front seats with heating, ventilation, massage and memory, an alarm system, a driver information system with a 7-inch color screen.

The volume of luggage space without folded seats is 530 liters.

Restyling has also made adjustments to the engine range of the Audi A6. The updated range of engines now complies with Euro-6 environmental standards. The base gasoline engine was a 1.8-liter turbo unit developing 190 hp. power. In addition, the line of gasoline units includes a 2.8-liter aspirated engine with a return of 220 hp, a 2.0-liter turbo engine with 252 hp. and a 3.0-liter turbo unit with 333 hp.

Diesel engines: 2.0 TDI ultra (150 hp 350 Nm) and 2.0 TDI ultra (190 hp 400 Nm) with 6 manual transmission or S Tronic, 3.0 TDI (218 hp 400 Nm) and 3.0 TDI ( 272 hp 580 Nm) paired with S Tronic, 3.0 TDI (320 hp 650 Nm) and 3.0 TDI (326 hp 650 Nm) with 8 tiptronic. Diesels are characterized by modest fuel consumption of 4.2 to 6.2 liters in mixed driving. The Russians got only one diesel engine familiar from pre-styling models, this is 3.0 TDI (245 hp).

The list of checkpoints has also changed. Front-wheel drive versions of the A6 are no longer equipped with the proprietary Multitronic CVT: it has been replaced by a 7-speed S-tronic dual-clutch robot. The second version of the box is a new 6-speed "mechanics".

Was upgraded and the model name was changed to A6. Sedans and station wagons were equipped with gasoline “fours” 1.8 and 2.0 (125–140 hp), inline five-cylinder engine 2.5 (133 hp) and V-shaped “sixes” with a volume of 2.6 and 2.8 liters (150 -193 hp) There were also 1.9 TDI and 2.5 TDI turbodiesels. Buyers were offered versions with sedan and station wagon bodies, the drive could be front or rear. The most powerful version of the car was called.

2nd generation (C5), 1997–2004

The second-generation Audi A6, still available in sedan and station wagon versions, began production in 1997. For this model, a wide range of power units was offered. Gasoline engines had a volume of 1.8 to 3.0 liters (125–250 hp), including turbocharged engines. There were two turbodiesels - 1.9 TDI and 2.5 TDI, different power options. In addition to the “charged” version (335 hp), a heavy-duty version appeared with an engine developing 444 hp. With.

In 1999, a stepless variator began to be offered for front-wheel drive "a-sixths", at the same time an off-road station wagon appeared. In 2001, the Audi A6 was updated: the car's suspension, gearbox were upgraded, and the range of engines was updated. In total, more than 1.2 million A6 models were produced at factories in Germany and China.

3rd generation (C6), 2004–2011

The third-generation car, which debuted in 2004, has become even larger, more comfortable and has received richer equipment (for example, the MMI multimedia interface). Especially for the Chinese market, a long-wheelbase version of the sedan was prepared. In 2008, the Audi A6 was restyled.

4th generation (C7), 2011–2018

The fourth generation of the Audi A6 sedan began production at the Neckarsulm plant in December 2010, with European sales starting in April 2011. In the autumn of the same year, the Avant station wagon version debuted, and in 2012, the Allroad station wagon "off-road".

The wheelbase of the car has become larger compared to its predecessor, instead of a power steering, the car received an electric booster, and the all-wheel drive versions have a new transmission (asymmetric differential with a multi-plate clutch). Part of the body panels of the car was made of aluminum.

The list of options includes, for example, full LED headlights, active cruise control, and a lane keeping system.

The range of power units consisted of 2.0 TFSI and 3.0 TFSI gasoline turbo engines, a 2.8 FSI “aspirated”, as well as two and three-liter turbodiesels. Front-wheel drive cars were equipped with CVTs, all-wheel drive cars were equipped with a seven-speed robotic gearbox, although a six-speed “mechanics” could also be chosen for the basic versions.

In 2012, a charged version of the Audi S6 appeared, and a year later, an even more powerful Audi RS6. In 2012-2014, a hybrid version of the model was produced.

Audi A6 sedans and station wagons were officially sold on the Russian market. In 2011, prices started at 1,660,000 rubles for a car with a 2.0 TFSI engine (180 hp), front-wheel drive and a manual gearbox. For several years, SKD assembly of machines for Russia was carried out at a plant in Kaluga.

Audi A6 / Audi A6

Presented in 2018, the fifth generation of the Audi A6 (index C8) retains the same dynamic image characteristic of Ingolstadt sedans. In terms of dimensions, the “A-sixth” of the new generation adheres to the previous framework - the changes are purely symbolic (+ 6 mm in length, 2 mm increase in width and height, the wheelbase was additionally stretched by 12 mm, the luggage compartment remained unchanged - 530 l) . As a platform on the Audi A6, the modular MLB EVO is used with a 2-lever layout in front and a 5-lever rear. Engineers have made the body more rigid; steel and aluminum components are still used in its basis. Continuity in design is evident. Only the front lighting, rear position lights and bumpers have been radically revised, many other styling decisions are reminiscent of the previous generation of premium sedan.

The new generation of the Audi A6 business sedan has surpassed its predecessor in terms of electronic innovation and equipment. The interior shows similarities with the previously shown Audi A7 Sportback image car. The key roles in controlling the main functions of the car are assigned to touch-screen displays (a 10.1-inch multimedia system screen located below the 8.6-inch climate system touchscreen), the usual buttons are minimized. In addition, instead of the traditional analog instrument panel, a virtual cockpit with a 12.3-inch high-resolution display (option) can be installed. All Audi A6 powerplants use Mild Hybrid microhybrid technology, which uses a combined starter-alternator to improve dynamics and fuel economy. In addition, with the help of such a system, the car is able to completely turn off the engine when the gas is released at speeds of 55 km per hour, while all on-board electronics are powered by a lithium-ion battery.

In our country, the Audi A6 business sedan is offered to customers in 4 equipment lines: basic, Advance, Design and Sport. The standard version of the model is equipped by default with LED headlights, R18 alloy wheels, heat-shielding glazing, front seats with manual adjustments and heating, an auto-dimming mirror in the cabin, a 2-zone climate control system, an MMI Radio plus media system, and Audi sound system music. In the Advance line, you can get electrically adjustable seats with lumbar support, a combined leather interior trim, and a rear-view camera. The Design version is visually recognizable by its special grille, chrome exterior package and exclusive multi-spoke wheels, and is identical to the previous version in terms of equipment. Features of the Sport line are sports seats with pronounced support, upholstery in Alcantara and leather, as well as external sporty accents. The list of available options includes HD Matrix headlights, a special phone box (wireless charging, USB, antenna), 4-zone climate control, ventilated seats, a navigation system with a color display, Bang & Olufsen premium music, driver assistance systems Pre sense basic and front, night vision function.

The Audi A6 is a business class (E-class) car manufactured by the German automaker Audi AG in its fourth generation. It is the successor to the car, which was discontinued in 1994. Audi's internal numbering sees the A6 as a continuation of the Audi 100 range, with the first A6 designated as C4, followed by C5, C6 and C7. The first A6 is a deep restyling of the "weave", in contrast to the transition from to, where there was a completely new car.

There is an offshoot from this line - the Audi A7. It is an A6-series C7-series hatchback coupe, but sold under its own model designation. There is a sports version of this model called the Audi S6. In 2005, the Audi A6 for the first time overtook the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5 Series, which have long reigned in the business class car market. Other close competitors are Kia Stinger, Subaru Legacy and Cadillac ATS.

The car is built on the Volkswagen Group C platform. The body is only in two versions - as a 4-door sedan or a 5-door station wagon (Avant). Front wheel drive or all wheel drive solution. Both petrol and diesel engine versions are officially supplied. As for other models, a very wide range of motors is presented.

Audi C4 (1994-1997)

In 1994, the latest generation of C4 ( Type 4A) was restyled and renamed the Audi A6 to fit into the new Audi alphanumeric nomenclature (since a full-size car was introduced that same year). The first A6 received new front and rear lights, a grille, as well as a choice of chassis, engine and transmission. Body only 4-door sedan or 5-door station wagon.

As always, a huge choice of powertrain. Petrol engines 4-cylinder 1.8 and 2.0 liters with a capacity of 99 to 138 hp, 5-cylinder 2.2 (Turbo) and 2.3 liters with a capacity of 227 and 131 hp. respectively, 6-cylinder V-shaped engine with a volume of 2.4 to 2.8 liters, power from 148 to 190 hp, as well as an 8-cylinder V-shaped engine with a volume of 4.2 liters or more with a capacity of 286 hp. Diesel engines are all turbocharged with direct injection of 1.9 and 2.5 liters with a capacity of 89 to 138 hp.

Of the transmissions, three options are available - a 5 or 6-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic.

Audi C5 (1997-2004)

In February 1997, the new A6 was announced ( Type 4B) based on the new Volkswagen Group C5 automotive platform with a new range of internal combustion engines, and the car itself appeared in March 1997 at the Geneva Motor Show. A qualitatively new level allowed to compete with the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Body shape in the form of a 4-door sedan or 5-door station wagon.

A redesigned body with a modern design, fastback style that sets the trend for the entire Audi range. This led to an increase in cabin space and a decrease in the drag coefficient, which amounted to 0.28.

In 2000 and 2001, the "C5" A6 was included in the "Best of the Year" list by Car and Driver magazine. In 2002, they carried out a facelift - they redesigned the headlights and radiator grilles, exposed exhaust pipes and minor changes in body accessories. New engines were also introduced.

Of the motors, as always, there is something to choose from. Petrol - 4-cylinders with a volume of 1.8 and 2.0 liters with a capacity of 125 to 150 hp, 6-cylinder V-shaped with a volume of 2.4 to 3.0 liters with a capacity of 165 to 247 hp, 8-cylinder V- figurative volume of 4.2 liters with a capacity of 295 hp. Diesel - 4-cylinder 1.9-liter capacity from 110 to 131 hp, 6-cylinder V-shaped 2.5-liter capacity from 150 to 179 hp, all turbocharged with direct injection.

Five transmission options - 5 or 6-speed manual, 5-speed automatic, Multitronic CVT and 5-speed automatic with Tiptronic system.

Audi C6 (2004-2011)

Next A6 ( Type 4F) was released in 2004. Designed by Japanese designer Satoshi Wada in 2001. Visually, this model looks like an evolution of the C5, but the length has been increased by 131 mm, and the grille has taken on a tall inverted trapezoid shape, as on all Audi models. Like other modern Audis, the A6 has a "tornado line" that runs from the headlights to the taillights just below the side windows. Body shapes also remained in the form of a 4-door sedan or 5-door station wagon.

The most notable innovation is the multimedia interface (MMI), which is a system that controls audio and video, satellite navigation, climate control, vehicle settings such as suspension configuration and other functions through a central screen interface. This minimizes the number of buttons on the dashboard by replacing them with controls that control multiple devices using the built-in display.

On internal combustion engines, a new technology for direct fuel injection "Fuel Stratified Injection" (FSI) was introduced. There was only one 4-cylinder gasoline engine left - a 2.0-liter capacity of 170 hp, four 6-cylinder V-shaped volumes from 2.4 to 3.2 liters with a capacity of 177 to 252 hp, and two 8-cylinder V -shaped with a volume of 4.2 liters with a capacity of 335 and 350 hp. The diesel 4-cylinder also remained alone - with a volume of 2.0 liters with a capacity of 140 hp, the remaining 6-cylinder V-shaped volumes of 2.7 and 3.2 liters with a capacity of 161 to 236 hp.

There are three types of gearboxes - 6-speed mechanics, 6-speed "Tiptronic" automatic and "Multitronic" variator with the possibility of manual selection of 7 speeds.

On August 12, 2008, Audi introduced the updated C6 model at the Moscow International Motor Show. The update includes some modern Audi touches to keep the look in line with the rest of the car lineup.

Audi S7 (2011-present)

Fourth generation Audi A6 C7 series ( Type 4G) was launched in early 2011 for the European market and other markets shortly thereafter. His appearance was heavily influenced (D4). The five-door hatchback coupe Audi A7 separated from the A6 of this generation ( Type 4G8), which was released shortly before, also in 2011. Compared to the A8 and A7, the A6 has a more aggressive front end and LED headlights. Design work on the A6 began in 2006, with an exterior design by Jürgen Loeffler selected in 2008.

The new A6 has increased its wheelbase by almost 3 inches (76 mm) and its width by 2.7 inches (69 mm). The redesign also allowed the vehicle's drag coefficient to reach 0.25. Body shapes also remained in the form of a 4-door sedan and a 5-door station wagon.

The 2012 A6 model year includes all driver assistance systems from the A8, plus head-up display, active lane assist, full LED headlights with automatic high beams or adaptive beams with variable high beam range (xenon).

Petrol engines - 4-cylinder 2.0-liter 178 and 208 hp, 6-cylinder V-shaped from 2.5 to 3.0 liters with a capacity of 190 to 306 hp. Diesel - 4-cylinder 2.0 liters with a capacity of 177 hp, 6-cylinder V-shaped 3.0 liters with a capacity of 204 to 309 hp, all turbocharged with direct injection.

An updated version of the C7 appeared at the Paris Motor Show in 2014. The update includes styling tweaks to the car's appearance, engine management system, transmissions and MMI infotainment system with a faster Tegra 3 processor, handwriting recognition, modern 4G mobile internet, online GPS map updates and improved Matrix LED headlights. .
