Kia rio problems. Weaknesses of Kia Rio. What are the advantages of Kia Rio

What problems does this car have? Very often I am asked this question by clients who have just bought a car or just choosing which model to purchase. I thought it would be nice to write a series of articles on the topic of diseases of certain machines to help the buyer in his choice. Since I worked as a car diagnostician for a long timeKia andHyundai, I will write mainly about the cars of these two brands.

In this article, we will consider what owners of such a popular car as the Kia Rio Rb may face - this is the third generation model, 2011. Some information about the model:

Kia Rio body, inside and out

The body of the Kia Rio car is galvanized. There is some anti-corrosion coating. In general, we can say that Rio is reliably protected from corrosion. Working with these machines on a daily basis, I almost never saw a rusty rio. Often on the net you can find the opinion that the paintwork of Koreans is very thin and unreliable, that chips and cracks often occur from small stones. I cannot agree with this, let alone rank it among the significant shortcomings of this machine. Chips happen on absolutely all cars of any brand.

As for the interior, it must be admitted that the quality of the plastic is not the highest. The elements of the instrument panel and the center console are made of rigid materials. Squeaks and "crickets" are common in the Rio, as they are on many cars in this price range. In general, the sound insulation of Rio is quite mediocre. In the cabin, you can clearly hear the noise from the contact of the wheels with the road surface, the operation of the engine and suspension. This can be eliminated by making additional soundproofing of the car.

What often breaks:

  • Seat heaters, heating elements burn out.
  • Power window button blocks. Easy to repair.
  • Blocks of radio control buttons on the steering wheel. They just have to be changed.

All these breakdowns are eliminated and can hardly be considered decisive when choosing a car, but you still need to “throw off” some amount from the sale price, if any.

Seat heating repair, with a replacement for a universal one, will cost up to $ 50. Repair of window lifter buttons - up to 1 thousand rubles, radio buttons with replacement up to $ 70. Prices are indicative, if done at the dealer hundred.

Cap with Kia logo! Price 338 rubles.

Engine problems

Only two engines are installed on the third generation Kia Rio: 1.4 and 1.6 liters. Both are chain engines, that is, the timing belt does not have to be changed every 60 thousand, which can be considered a plus. The chain runs for a long time, replacement according to the regulations at 120 thousand mileage only in the event of extraneous noise from the chain caused by its stretching. This happens extremely rarely.

Gamma engine, Kia Rio 3

Kia Rio motors have a resource of 250 thousand km. This means that by such a run, most engines may show significant wear of the cylinder-piston group, which implies the replacement of the cylinder block (short block) assembly with a new one. The motors are aluminum and do not have repair dimensions for the groove. That is, it is impossible to order oversized pistons, they are simply not produced. Of course, it is very expensive to change a cylinder block, so a block liner service has appeared on our market. Thus, you can save a lot, but the cost of repairs will still be at least $ 1,500.

Tweeters (high-purity door speakers) for Kia Rio.

By a run of 60 - 90 thousand in Rio, the exhaust gas catalytic converter (catalyst) often fails. By itself, it is expensive, therefore, unfortunately, in our country it is often not changed, but simply knocked out. This results in a more toxic exhaust and a loud exhaust sound.

But the breakdown of the catalyst itself is not as significant as the possible consequences. Structurally, the catalyst on Rio engines is located very close to the cylinder head. Because of this, when the catalyst is destroyed, the ceramic dust from it is sucked into the cylinders. It acts like an emery stone on the surface of the cylinder, leading to rapid wear and scuffing. The engine loses compression, consumes oil. You have to repair (sleeve) or replace the cylinder block. Therefore, having "missed" the destruction of the catalyst, you will have to pay a large sum for the repair of the motor.

If Rio is equipped with gas-balloon equipment, you will have to keep in mind that there are no hydraulic compensators in the design of the engines. This means that the valve clearances are adjusted manually. On a car with HBO, you will have to do this once every 40 - 90 thousand kilometers, depending on the driving style and the quality of the HBO settings. The adjustment procedure is complicated and costs about $ 150 on official services.

Ignition coils often break in Rio. There are 4 of them, one per cylinder. The cost of one original is about $ 50. Usually occurs on runs over 50,000 km. The cause of the breakdown may be candles not replaced on time.

On a run of about 50,000, a strong whistle may appear from under the hood of the Rio, especially on a cold engine. The cause of the whistle, as a rule, is the belt tensioner mechanism. equipment or the belt itself. Issue price - a belt of 900 rubles, a tensioner - 5000 rubles.

On motors, perhaps, that's all.

Transmission

The manual transmission is reliable and does not have any frequent illnesses.

The machine is also quite simple and unpretentious, but still has some problems. On runs around 100,000, and sometimes even earlier, jerking and bumps may appear when switching. Another common symptom is a delay in reverse gear engagement: you turn on reverse, release the brake pedal, but the car does not move, after a second or two the gear is engaged and movement begins. All these problems of the machine are treated by replacing the automatic transmission valve block. The price of this part is high, so be sure to check the machine for these problems before buying. But it cannot be said that this is a very common malfunction.

Suspension

The design of the suspension is simple: MacPherson strut in front, semi-independent split beam in the back.

On runs of 15 - 30 thousand, the stabilizer struts can knock. Less often, wear of the stabilizer bushings is manifested. Replacing these parts will not hit your pocket, so it’s hard to call this a significant drawback.

At the back, everything is simple and there is practically nothing to break.

The suspension of the Kia Rio is quite stiff, like many other cars in this class. Due to this rigidity and bad roads, wheel bearings sometimes fail on runs of 50-60 thousand. Shock absorbers and springs go for a long time, again, if you try, you can kill them even at 50 thousand, but these are special cases.

At the first Rio, the owners complained about a knock in the steering mechanism. The cause was the rack bushing. On machines since 2012, this factory defect has been eliminated.

On all Rios, this symptom sometimes occurs: the steering wheel rotates with an uneven effort, sometimes tight, sometimes more easily, depending on the position of the steering wheel. The reason is in the steering rack, or rather, in the spool valve that bypasses the fluid flow. It can be replaced separately.

Results

So, when buying a used Rio, I advise be sure to check the following:

  • Engine: make computer diagnostics and measure the compression (nominal value is 12.5 kg/cm2, the difference between the cylinders is not more than 1 kg/cm2).
  • Automatic transmission: also computer. diagnostics and a test drive, make sure the gear shift is smooth. Try shifting gears from D to R on the spot, at idle, and make sure that the car pulls away on a level surface without pressing the gas pedal, without delay, and when switching there is no noticeable impact.
  • Suspension: make a general diagnosis of the running gear with a mandatory check of all wheel bearings and with a check of the steering rack. At idle, in place, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock, the rotation should be uniform, the force applied to the steering wheel should not change.
  • Body: check the paintwork with a paint thickness gauge, so you know if the car was involved in an accident. The factory paintwork on the Kia Rio has a thickness of 120 - 140 microns.

We are talking about the "Kia Rio" of the second generation; in fact, this is the brother of "Hyundai-Vern" ( ZR, 2012, No. 5 ). Recall: a good, in general, "Verna" most of all let down an extremely unreliable electric power steering. The problem has not been resolved to this day, and the company's representative office is silent.

There are fewer complaints about the Rio in terms of the amplifier: before restyling, the model was equipped with a proven power steering, and after that with a EUR, but not the same as that of Verna. Hyundai uses capricious resistive torque sensors, while Kia uses optical ones. Still, it was not without a fly in the ointment: many owners complained about extraneous knocks in the steering mechanism. There was even a recall campaign during which dealers changed the plastic bushings if tightening the spring-loaded rack biscuits did not help. More often, the right bushing loosened up, but at the same time the left one was also changed: if the mechanism is disassembled, and the bushings are relatively cheap, such a decision is logical.

Often, knocks were emitted by the lower cardan joint of the steering shaft - it loosened up along the splines. This connection was simply stuffed with additional grease.

Steering tips serve 60-70 thousand km, thrust - two to three times longer. Moreover, the rods are replaced separately from the steering mechanism, which is now becoming less common.

LUCKY

The reliability of the cars of the Hyundai-Kia concern to a large extent depends on which of the models was a pioneer in the introduction of new components and assemblies or the refinement of old ones. "Rio", one might say, was lucky: perhaps only the starter fell out of the damp on his shoulders.

LET'S GET TO KNOW

Always remember about the bad location of the climate control knob, designed to select the temperature: one wrong move and the knee breaks the circuit board of the device. It is specially made openwork in order to exclude injuries in the event of an accident, but it breaks easily even with a slight pressure on the handle.

In frosty weather, the starter often fails. A trip to the dealer on a tow truck usually does not help - during the paperwork, the car warms up in the repair zone and the starter comes to life. This floating defect became so massive that it united the owners on the club's forum kiarioclub.ru . The representative office of the company was silent on this matter. A survey organized at the forum revealed an interesting detail: the mass nature of the defect manifested itself from the end of 2010. It turned out that the starter manufacturer had changed the design since August 27, 2010 and assigned a different catalog number to the unit. The former was 3610026850 or 3610026852, and the new one was 3610026810 or 3610026860. No one really knows what exactly was changed: the representation, as was said, is water

got into the mouth, and dealers do not repair starters. At best they replace it under warranty. And at the same time, they note that in 90% of cases the problem is solved by an elementary tightening and lubrication of the power terminals of the solenoid relay.

FUROWS DOES NOT SPIT

All motors are time-tested, once developed by Mitsubishi and have proven themselves well at Goetz ( ZR, 2007, No. 11 ), "Matrix" ( 2008, № 4 ), Elantra ( 2009, № 6 ). With the advent of the electric booster, the power steering pump disappeared and the drive of mounted units changed. With the timing, everything is as before: a toothed belt drives the exhaust camshaft, and the intake camshaft is connected to it by a separate chain at the rear of the unit (near the fourth cylinder). We change the timing belt after 60 thousand km (according to the new regulations, after 90 thousand km), and the chain is best at the 120 thousandth. Although often it is enough for up to 180 thousand km. When buying a used car, if you are not sure of its real mileage, it is better to replace the belt with a roller proactively.

Numerous firmware of the control unit did not make the engines less demanding on fuel quality. But they are tolerant of the increased content of resins - the valves work without problems. True, dealers recommend flushing the nozzles without dismantling every 30–45 thousand km (this removes carbon deposits from the valves and their guides). Candles after such an injection must be changed. High-voltage wires usually serve 80-100 thousand km.

The engine radiator is less tenacious. Under the influence of reagents, it begins to leak along the lower left rolling already after 60 thousand km (about 10% of cases). Keep an eye on the level of antifreeze: miss - the engine can get an irreversible heat stroke!

The exhaust system has a corrugation connecting the manifold to the resonator. He lives for a long time, unlike the analogue on the "Getze", because he is further moved away from the engine and its additional protection. But if the protection of the engine compartment is jammed and touches the corrugation, then it will probably gnaw a hole in it. Infiltrated fresh air confuses the oxygen sensor, and he fools the engine control unit. The Check Engine light comes on and gas mileage rises sharply.

SOMEONE'S SLIPPERS

Rio put together suspension parts from its half-siblings: some from the Getz, some from the Elantra. From "Verna" I received rear shock absorbers leaking to 40 thousand kilometers; they are still rattling. Knocks can be dealt with by placing foam rings under the boot. But it is better to put shock absorbers "Koni".

The choice fell on such a miniature car as the Kia Rio JB? You should immediately study the weak points of these cars, so as not to be deceived. This article will present all the information and draw reasonable conclusions about this small hatchback Kia Rio based on data on the operation by the owners themselves and information from the service station. And, before taking this car for purchase, you should pay attention to some points described below. It is they who will make your purchase more pleasant and safe, or vice versa - will make it impossible.

Weaknesses and shortcomings of Kia Rio JB 2006-2011 release

  • Paintwork;
  • Body;
  • Build quality;
  • Chassis;
  • Starter;
  • Exhaust system;
  • Steering rack;
  • Clutch;
  • Backstage.

More:

  • Paintwork

This is the most common Kia Rio problem. First, be sure to check the paintwork. Undoubtedly, this problem is a weak point of all cars, it's just that on some models and brands of cars it is a little better and thicker. On this car, it is very thin and, as a result, you may have the problem of small chips on the paintwork on the hood, which are obtained as a result of stones flying out from under the wheels of the car in front.

  • Body

The second misfortune that the "riods" talk about is that moisture accumulates in the rear sills, especially at the point of transition to the wheel arch. And accordingly, the corner of the rear door also suffers from corrosion, as it is located in the same place. If it rusts there, it is definitely not a car worth considering for purchase (of course, this is up to the future owner to decide, depending on the price of the car being purchased). But, as practice shows, the operation of the Kia Rio 2006 in urban conditions and in a temperate climate, even with runs of 130 thousand or more, does not show such problems.

Well, since the conversation has already come about the body and the paintwork, it’s worth looking for places where the car was painted. These "gifts" will give out streaks of paint, orange peel and other evidence of the work of crooked painters. But this is more of a general advice. By the way, if the car was straightened without welding, then even after a couple of years no signs of damage will be found at this place. Therefore, the instance you are considering may well be “bit and painted”, but you can only detect this using the paintwork thickness gauge.

  • Build quality

Although, compared to previous generations of this car, the overall build quality has become much better, the weak point of the Kia Rio JB continues to be a strong creak in the cabin from hard plastic and gaps between body elements that are not always correctly set.

  • Chassis

The next weak point of the car can be safely called the weakness of the chassis. Ball, steering rods, stabilizer struts - this is a disaster that crawls out with enviable constancy. In many ways, this is due to our "excellent" roads. Therefore, during a test ride, and when driving in general, pay attention to any strange sounds when driving. The only plus is not exorbitant prices for spare parts and work to replace them.

Also, the rear shock absorbers can be attributed to the running problems. But here, how lucky. For some, relatives go for 130 thousand, for others, the car starts tossing in the second ten. It also often happens that anthers knock - and our "home-made" manage to insert foam pads instead. Pay attention to this when buying a car.

  • Starter

The next trouble that Rio JB owners face is the starter. Or rather, a bendix is such a small detail that you most likely have not heard of before Kia. Naturally, if a car is being sold to you, then everything should be in order with it at the time of sale, otherwise the car simply will not start. How problematic is this? Depends on the mileage of the car. Usually, it wears out closer to a hundred thousand, and the biggest problem will be that you have to look for it, and maybe even order it in another city. The second point - despite the fact that the model was produced for several years, some units changed in it much more often and almost every year. Therefore, check that the ordered part matches the VIN code of your car.

  • Exhaust system

This problem cannot be determined without looking under the bottom. Burnout of the corrugation is a very common sore. It comes as follows: since the crankcase protection is very close to it, the corrugation is constantly exposed to high temperatures. If deformation occurred in this place towards the exhaust system, then due to constant moisture and temperature changes, you will get two sores at once - a rusted protection and a corrugation, which also needs to be replaced. This is not so deadly, but very unpleasant. Additionally, this problem threatens with air intake and increased fuel consumption if the corrugation is still burned out.

  • Steering rack.

The last problem that the owners of the new Rio face, and which the old one did not have, is the steering rack. It manifests itself in the jamming of the steering wheel when turning in the same position, as well as a knock at low speeds on a rough road. Therefore, before buying, turn the wheel well and drive quietly on speed bumps. Either way, it's worth the ride. Since the car must be listened to for knocks, squeaks, squeaks, etc.

  • Clutch

And, of course, if the mileage of the machine in question is close to a hundred thousand, get ready to change the clutch if this has not been done before you. Although this moment is purely individual and depends on the driving style of the previous owner;

  • backstage

The final point - there may be slight problems with the inclusion of first gear and reverse. Although some owners take this calmly and do not try to fix it: the first turns on well from the second gear. Well, they catch the back.

The main disadvantages of the Kia Rio hatchback 2nd generation

  • Weak acceleration dynamics due to low-power engines;
  • Rigid suspension;
  • Low build quality;
  • Poor corrosion resistance;
  • Very hard plastic bumpers that break at the slightest impact.

Conclusion.

What else I would like to advise is that when buying, you need to ask the seller as many stupid questions as possible about the history of the car, and about replaced spare parts, etc. Somewhere he should let it slip if this is really the owner, and not a professional outbid. This is of course in the event that the inspection is carried out independently without specialists from the service station.

Summing up, we can say that the Kia Rio JB is an excellent purchase, especially if before that you were a “happy” owner of a product of the domestic auto industry. And many previous and current owners of the 2006 Rio hatch, with a similar budget, would not hesitate to buy the car they loved so much again.

P.S.: Dear car owners, if you have noticed more frequent breakdowns of any parts or assemblies of this car model, please report it in the comments below.

Weaknesses and shortcomings of the Kia Rio JB hatchback with a run was last modified: January 30th, 2019 by Administrator

Many motorists have long noticed that in order not to make a mistake with the choice of a car, it is worth giving preference to a car that is popular among the masses. For several years now, the Hyundai Solaris has been considered the leader of the sedan class. Against the backdrop of such success, the twin of this Kia Rio model looks a little sluggish. However, this is only when compared with the absolute market leader. At the same time, Rio sells much more successfully than other models of the same class, including Logans, Polos and Rapids.

Attention! In just four years that this Korean car was sold in Russia, approximately 400 thousand cars were sold. Not a single model of the supermini class is even close capable of repeating such a result.

Kia engineers studied all the mistakes that were made by Hyundai manufacturers, such as suspension settings, ABS, trunk lid and more. But most importantly, the creators of Rio immediately managed to stir up public interest.

But, nevertheless, if you believe the reviews of the owners, the Kia Rio still has flaws. Therefore, in order to understand all the pros and cons of the Kia Rio, the reviews need to be studied as carefully as possible.

Reviews

Review of Gennady, Moscow, Kia Rio

Good afternoon! They offer to stop wearing rose-colored glasses and take a closer look at what is actually being evaporated to us under the name Kia Rio. I read the reviews of the owners of Kia Kio 2, the shortcomings are almost not described. One gets the impression that this is the perfect car. But this one isn't. Therefore, I decided to write my review as the owner of the Kia Rio and describe all the pros and cons here honestly.

The first thing I was dissatisfied with is the fuel consumption. It is indicated that it is only six liters per hundred kilometers, but in fact the Kia Rio eats all ten liters. There is no doubt about the appearance, Rio looks pretty stylish. The back was copied from an Audi, and the front from a Lexus. But it turned out, in general, not bad. There are no problems with the engine either. My motor has already run 80 thousand kilometers and has not let me down yet. I change the oil every 10 thousand kilometers. In winter, even conducted an experiment. Didn't drive it for four days. I wanted to see if it would start at minus 36. And it must have started, albeit the second time. The neighbor's Skoda and Volkswagen did not pass the test, heh heh. With the engine in general, everything is cool. True, there are some shortcomings here. All fasteners, bolts and clamps rot quickly and thoroughly.

But the biggest drawback of this car is, of course, the suspension. She is nothing at all. So tough that the feeling that you are not driving a foreign car of the twenty-first century, but a Soviet UAZ. After a few trips, the back just falls off. What struck me is that one original rear shock costs ten thousand a piece. It's crazy to go TEN THOUSAND. Well, I decided to put them, I will not put the original ones. Put Japanese shock absorbers KYB. They are a little cheaper and the Kia Rio has become softer.

The next step is soundproofing. She just doesn't exist. Well, it's understandable what to demand from a budget car. But such a weakness as a body, I just can not forgive. I don’t know about others, but on my Kia Rio, after the purchase, the gap on the rear right door is such that the little finger freely crawls through there. I bought a new car, which is funny, there is no such gap on the left. Couldn't the doors have been adjusted? The metal is very thin, only 1 mm. The hood and doors can be simply bent with your finger. From this I conclude that if I get into an accident, then my car will not be able to save me. She just doubts everything. I don't know if the pillows will open yet.

I'm afraid to even talk about LCP. Such a terrible attitude towards the consumer can only be found here in Russia. They didn't even bother painting the car. She was simply doused with paint, as it turned out, and sent for further assembly. There is simply no paint in the Kia Rio itself. When I changed the windshield, it felt like it was taken out with an opener. As a result, the roof began to rot. I gave the car to a friend for repainting, removed the gum, and there it is still worse than it seemed at first. We saw not only traces of the opener, but a bunch of rot. I think another six months and just there would be a solid hole in the cabin. Paint it painted, but the polish did not work. After all, there is no layer of paint and varnish. In short, just made cosmetic repairs and sold. She made me too upset.

Reviewed by Andrey, Chelyabinsk, Kia Rio

Finally found the time to leave a review. Long wanted. I think that cars should be considered by their minuses. This is the only way to understand what exactly you have to deal with.

Kia Rio bought from authorized dealers. Already dissatisfied. Even the second set of tires was not included. I had to ride summer tires for a whole month in winter until I sold the old one. So, let's begin.

No soundproofing at all. The noise in the car is terrible. Presses directly on the ears. Of course, I started to get used to it, but still there is a problem. As soon as I started using the car, the car never wanted to open on the first try. And this applies to both the key and the Singalka. I had to first manually press once to close the door, and then to open it. Only then could the door be opened. I went to the office and they said they couldn't help me. The lock does not work only when the car has been untouched for several hours. And there was no way to leave the car for them at night, besides, just so that they would come in the morning and see for themselves that the lock was not working. Told them to just replace the power supply. So they didn’t want to, they say that everything has become strict and you need to attach a photo and video to each broken part. With that, I left, sending them in my thoughts where my eyes look. Then at work he dismantled everything; there were several contacts in oil. I wiped them and the problem itself was solved.

Already at four thousand mileage, my catalytic converter was knocked out. If you suddenly forget to turn on the headlights, the buzzer will not tell you about it. But if suddenly the street is below 4 degrees, he will constantly squeak. Clearance is clearly not under our roads. Don't believe everything they say on YouTube. If two men sit behind you, then you practically cling to the bottom of the asphalt.

And finally the pendant. It is clearly not designed to carry people. It’s a pity to carry firewood on it. Be sure you will definitely feel even the smallest bump. And complete with oak seats will be doubly nice. I don’t know how there are cons in other reviews of the owners of Kia Rio, which they didn’t seem to notice, but I found them and I didn’t like them.

Reviewed by Andrey, St. Petersburg, Kia Rio

The decision to buy a Kia Rio was taken spontaneously. My wife and I have just finished our studies and are still working with a not very big salary. And we found this option. We studied all the reviews of the owners of the Kia Rio 2016, they did not seem to find any shortcomings. I will describe my first impressions after purchase

About the fuel consumption is a complete scam. It must have been measured by some stupid Korean. You can safely add 2-3 liters to the declared indicators. Engine power at 1.6 is declared 123 horsepower. But she definitely does not pull on 123 horses. Like a normal sixteen-valve is still going. But where the remaining horses disappeared is not known. I climbed the forums, this question is discussed a lot and often. Everyone has their own versions, but I have not found the exact answer.

It is immediately clear that the Kia Rio was going to us in Russia. And it's in vain. On the right side, the plastic is bent. I tried to bend it myself, but the campaign has already lost its moment. Left it like that when the door is closed, it seems like it's not noticeable. Half of the rear seat was not fixed in any way and constantly leaned back. I fixed it myself with a screwdriver and a hammer.

Now as for the operation.

I think the checkpoint is the oldest that the manufacturers could find. This is probably where the expense comes from. Ecologists would know for sure would burst into tears. Of course, it works, more or less, especially for the city, but not directly to be satisfied.

The weakest point of the Kia Rio is the suspension. That some complain that at speed the back end can throw a little. So it's not surprising. The car weighs only 1150 kilograms, despite the fact that most of it falls on the front end. This is very little. There are indeed problems with the track, but I think it's all because of the mass. Once I loaded a full trunk, and five men got into the cabin, and so the problem disappeared, although the engine no longer pulled.

As for the interior, it is assembled not badly. But only in the highest trim levels. There is almost nothing in the salon itself. There is no button illumination and lighting in the glove compartment, as well as power windows. All the little things, but I had to finish it myself. For navigation from the factory they wanted 50 thousand from me. I laughed and ordered myself from China. He brought a camera and a recorder to her. The radio amplifier is also very weak. I had to put the normal acoustics.

But what the Koreans saved the most on was the bodywork. Just do not convey what a thin metal. It's scary to lean on the car. The paint on the thresholds bubbled after two years. And in general, the paint is not very good.

Feedback from Victor, Yekaterinburg, Kia Rio

I will write a short review. I didn't like the Kia Rio. Went on it for only about a year and then sold. The body is generally weak. Thin as paper. And after a while it started to rot. I immediately got worried. The car is brand new, after all. But it's still okay. There is no soundproofing at all. I sat for two days, glued everything with seals. Otherwise, it's just a headache. But the worst thing is the suspension. I have never ridden such a tough car. Calmed down only when he sold it. I do not recommend Kia Rio to anyone.

What will be for the minimum price: 1.4 mechanics (107 hp), frontal airbags, air conditioning, on-board computer, audio preparation (4 speakers), front power windows.

Reviews about Kia Rio (sedan, hatchback):

Appearance:

  • nice, harmonious, slightly sporty aggressiveness is given by the air intake grille and headlights framed in black

In the cabin:

  • Nice and informative dashboard
  • the stove heats up cool, I don’t even turn it on to the full
  • hard plastic, scratches easily and starts to rattle quickly
  • Crickets in the dashboard and behind, somewhere in the trunk area
  • air conditioning does not always cope with its tasks if the car is in the sun
  • Behind the seats for passengers, whether there is, or not. If the driver is taller than the sitting dog, then there will be 10-15 centimeters of passenger legroom behind him.
  • It is crowded, the upper edge of the windshield “presses” in front, and the ceiling in the back. Here Kia Rio is a minus.
  • The problem with seat heating: it is stepless, warmed up - you have to turn it off, otherwise you will fry
Trunk:
  • 500 liters in such and such a baby, 4 R16 wheels fit without problems and there is still room.
  • if you fold the seats, and so a rather big trunk becomes hefty - 1400 liters. I took a 140 cm bath, I took a sofa to the kitchen, you can’t say from the outside that it will fit

Paintwork:

  • Many write that Koreans have a weak point - paintwork. This is true, and the varnish and paint are laid very thinly, the chip often happens to the ground. Especially often chips occur on the front bumper, hood and fenders. Small, a millimeter or two - but a lot

Controllability:

  • goes well on the track, enters turns easily and predictably
  • Feel free to turn the steering wheel - the control is sharp enough
  • nice right electric power steering: when you park it spins easily, and at speed the steering wheel is filled with weight exactly as it should be to feel control over the road.
  • It crawls great in the cracks in traffic jams

Smooth running:

  • The suspension is harsh, you can’t fly over the rails - your teeth are chattering
  • very stiff suspension, every hole you feel booty

Agility:

  • on the mechanics, but empty - it goes great from the traffic light
  • Dynamics on the machine so-so

Transmission:

  • I really like the easy and clear shifting manual
  • automatic transmission. seemed stupid, on the highway when overtaking, I press on the gas - we drive only a second and a half - something a bit too much
  • Automatic transmission is slow and sometimes jerks when shifting

Brakes:

  • At the first braking after overnight parking - something so-so slows down

Noise isolation:

  • Where is this insulation? I don't have her, everything is audible, as if the windows are open
  • Due to the lack of sound insulation in the city, it is normal to drive 60-80 km / h, on the highway 100-120. Then the engine howls, the road rumbles, even a little scary

Reliability:

  • the car proved to be quite reliable, suddenly and suddenly did not get up
  • Only the trunk lock broke in two and a half years
  • For forty-seven thousand, two bulbs burned out: the foglight and the backlight of the number. And that's it, I went to the service only for MOT
  • Closer to 100,000 runs, hydraulic lifters begin to knock - this is a Kia Rio disease

Patency:

  • as usual on such cars, the clearance is too small (on a rural road you can catch on the protection), it’s not convenient to park everywhere, the thresholds were jammed several times
  • The clearance is small, small - in winter you will sit in any snowdrift, and they will pull you out no less than a jeep

Operating cost:

  • inexpensive to maintain, if serviced at a decent service, where masters are not inclined to breed for money
  • you don’t spend much more on repair and maintenance of Kia Rio than on a VAZ 2112
  • with spare parts there are not the slightest problems, in the online store non-original consumables cost about the same as on a Zhiguli
  • Eats 92 gasoline, in the city with light traffic jams, but with air conditioning - 9 l, on the highway without kondeya 5 l, with it under 7
  • when fully loaded, fuel consumption is high for a small, in general, car: in the city - up to 12 liters per 100 km. More about the consumption of Kia Rio -

In frost:

  • up to -30 when parked on the street starts from the first turn

Other details:

  • There is a USB input, a cool thing and conveniently located. Music from a flash drive works fine, no brakes
  • The bibikalka is cheerful, loud, everyone around reacts correctly
  • Easy to sell, loses little value
