As befits a fearless pioneer, the Kodiak has impressive dimensions: length reaches 4697 mm, width – 1882 mm, height – 1676 mm. These dimensions give the model confidence when moving in urban spaces and on rough terrain.

Ground clearance – 187 mm. Thanks to this, neither holes, potholes, nor hillocks pose any danger to the SUV.

Trunk volume – 635 liters (5-seater version). With the rear seats folded down, the capacity reaches 1980 liters! The luggage space is extremely functional: an LED flashlight, which is charged from a running engine, will help when unloading luggage at night, and the rear seats can be folded with one press of a button.

A memorable design, built on an organic combination of elegant forms and brutal relief, unquestionable practicality, and high technology that guards your comfort and safety - meet the strong and powerful “bear” ŠKODA KODIAQ 2019-2020.

The Czech company Skoda is one of the most dynamically developing automobile brands in the world. Many consider her to be quite young, but in fact, her current world fame and popularity are not accidental.

They have more than 120 years of successful experience behind them. Recently, the design of Skoda cars has been experiencing a real revolution. This is due to the arrival of the famous designer Josef Kaban, who created the stunning Bugatti Veyron model, to the company.

In 2019, the automaker will follow a new revolutionary course and present such new products as the Skoda Yeti, Skoda Octavia, Skoda Polar and Skoda Kodiaq GT/Vision E to the world public.

Crossover Skoda Yeti

In 2019, the popular Skoda Yeti crossover will undergo a radical update. Now compact SUVs occupy a fairly large segment of the global market, so the successful launch of the new generation Yeti is very important for the manufacturer, and high competition will be an additional incentive to create a truly high-quality product.

The car will be built on the MQB modular platform. To produce the body developed on the basis of the Fabia, innovative materials will be used to lighten the structure without losing rigidity and strength. Externally, the crossover seems both emotional and strict. It will have smooth lines and rounded corners. All optics and stamped body parts will also change.

Darkened pillars create the effect of solid glass. Increased approach and departure angles increase the vehicle's cross-country ability. Overall, the new body of the 2019 Skoda Yeti is fully consistent with the brand’s design concept.

The original optics are characterized by sharp angles and straight lines. This is a common style for all Czech models. The fog lights are equipped with a corner lighting function. R16 wheels with 215/60 tires are standard.

In the first photographs that appeared online, it can be noted that the interior of the new product has been revised in accordance with Volkswagen’s corporate style. The front panel, center console and door panels are made specifically for this model. However, the air vents and navigation devices deliberately retain the features of the “big brother” from Germany. Despite the lack of bright accents, the interior design looks very good. Seven interior colors are available.

Thanks to the new layout, the internal volume of the cabin and luggage compartment has increased. The proprietary Vario Flex system allows the rear row to be folded, creating a flat floor and a huge 1800-liter space. The basic version is equipped with an adjustable steering column, heated front seats and mirrors, two airbags, cruise control and improved climate control.

The manufacturer will offer five options for gasoline and diesel power units with a volume of 1.6-2.0 liters for the 2019 Skoda Yeti. All of them, except the base one, are equipped with turbocharging and comply with the Euro-5 environmental standard. A range of transmissions will also be offered: 5- and 6-speed manual transmissions, 6-speed automatic transmissions, as well as 6- and 7-speed robotic transmissions.

New generation Skoda Octavia

The current third generation of the compact family car Skoda Octavia appeared on the market five years ago, after which it has undergone only one cosmetic update.

Despite its popularity, the already quite outdated car began to be noticeably inferior to its closest competitors. Therefore, the manufacturer’s decision to make a global update was quite logical. A completely new fourth-generation model is due out in 2019.

According to data provided by Auto Bild, the design of the upcoming car has already been almost completely determined. Its creator was the former director of the Skoda Design division. But do not forget that the car is still in the early stages of development, so any changes and surprises are possible by the time of the official release.

It is expected that the length of the new Octavia will be 467 cm, width – 181.4 cm, height 146.1 cm, and a wheelbase – 268.5 cm. Compared to the third generation model, the new product will receive an extended wheelbase and rear overhang, which will provide more free space in the cabin.

The 2019 Skoda Octavia should inherit the latest technologies from the Volkswagen Group. The next generation of VW Golf, arriving at the end of 2018, will have a significant impact here.

The automaker plans to add additional driver assistance systems, including Level 3 autonomous driving, as well as features such as adaptive LED headlights, a head-up display and an enhanced voice command system.

Skoda will completely update its engine range for the new Octavia. Petrol options will include a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine with 95 and 115 horsepower, a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 150 horsepower, and a 2.0-liter 197-horsepower four-cylinder powerplant.

In addition, the next generation of Skoda Octavia RS is expected with a 292 hp engine. and 380 Nm of torque.

Diesel engines will have a stated output of 95, 122, 163 and 190 hp. Also planned is 48-volt hybrid technology, which will provide an additional 10 kW (13.40 hp) of power and 55 Nm of torque.

A hybrid powertrain is expected, combining a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and a 75 kW (100.54 horsepower) electric motor to produce a total output of 252 hp. and 590 Nm of torque.

Crossover Skoda Polar

The release of a new generation of the Skoda Polar mini-crossover has already been announced for the 2019 model year. Once launched, the car will compete with superminis such as the Juke, Renault Captur and the upcoming Peugeot 2008. This is the third sub-compact SUV from Skoda. In the hierarchy of the Czech automaker, it will occupy a place below the new Yeti, which in turn yields class leadership to the Snowman crossover.

The developers promise that the 2019 Polar model will undergo a major modernization, both in design and structural elements. Modern lightweight materials will be used to make the body, so the weight of the new product will be no more than one ton. The wheels offered are the same as on other Skoda crossovers of 2019 - R16 wheels with 215/60 tires.

As for the technical characteristics of the new generation Polar, there is little information about them yet. The range of power units will, of course, be revised, but what exactly they will be is unknown.

The car is expected to have a new three-cylinder gas system made in Germany, which, given the vehicle's light weight, will consume much less fuel than most similar cars on the market.

The official debut of the next generation of Skoda Polar is scheduled for the second half of 2018. Many are looking forward to this event, especially considering the cost of the upcoming car. German journalists found out that the basic configuration of the new product will be offered at a price of around 20,000 euros.

Cross-coupe Skoda Kodiaq GT

Skoda's first crossover coupe will be called the Kodiaq GT. This is evidenced by a leaked review from China, where the crossover will be launched on the market in the 2019 model year.

Until now, the car was positioned only for the Chinese market, but now there are all signs that the GT will end up in Europe. Provided that Skoda frees up capacity at one of its heavily used production sites - a difficult task, as European sales of the brand's other models are growing.

The new Czech crossover has received a rather bold design that matches the current corporate style of the automaker. It will be based on the modular MEB platform developed by parent company Volkswagen, which, among other things, supports electrification.

The closest in design and spirit to the upcoming cross-coupe can be called the electric prototype Vision E. If it goes into production, then Skoda will be able to prove that not only such famous brands as Tesla, Audi or Jaguar, but also enthusiast brands with less experience the likes of Faraday Future or Nio can create decent and competitive battery-powered vehicles.

The new Kodiaq coupe appears slightly smaller than the base model, but is sleeker and more refined. The elongated nose and flatter, sloping tailgate add extra charm and a sense of speed. It sits on large wheels housed in neat wheel arches.

Already now, in preliminary photos, the car looks ready for production. “This will be the typical look of our electric vehicles,” says Karl Neuhold, who is responsible for the exterior design. Having lost the radiator grille, the Vision E will still remain recognizable as a Skoda thanks to the signature profiled hood and head optics from the new Octavia model.

The redesigned cabin offers significantly more space without a central transmission tunnel, the control interface is implemented primarily through large touch screens, there are functions for gesture recognition and eye control, as well as advanced driver assistance systems.

The Kodiaq Coupe will not only be able to park itself automatically, but also, thanks to its Level 3 autonomous system, will be able to drive safely on the motorway. At the same time, the system not only monitors the driver’s attention so that he does not completely withdraw from driving, but even checks his heartbeat. For ease of communication with rear passengers, a 20-degree swivel of the front seats is provided.

Announced for the 2019 model year, the Kodiaq GT off-road coupe, equipped with a base 1.4-liter TSI power unit with 125 horsepower, will cost approximately 25,500 euros. It's good value for money. The electric analogue of the Kodiaq Vision E will apparently not appear any time soon. Perhaps closer to 2025.

Video review, test drive

The article was written specifically for the website “2019 Year of the Pig”: https://site/

In 2018, the Czech company Škoda Auto is preparing a replacement for the compact crossover Skoda Yeti. A more modern analogue of the Skoda Karoq 2019, which has all the prerequisites for receiving flagship status, is being prepared for mass production.

The new product combines the features of business style and practicality, so it can be used for business trips, as well as as a spacious and comfortable family car. It should be noted that compared to its predecessor, the new body has increased resistance to various types of operational loads.

The new model will receive a number of improvements in body design and interior; a significant improvement in the characteristics of power unit components and expanded functionality of on-board equipment are expected.

The car will be offered in several modifications, which will allow future buyers to choose a model with optimal parameters.

The body design is focused on the needs of drivers of different age categories. Restyling marked itself with improved aerodynamics of the body and updated appearance due to additional elements of external decor.

  • In the frontal projection, the Skoda Karoq 2019 crossover demonstrates a large format windshield, a longitudinal relief of a massive hood with a corporate logo and a chrome-plated perimeter of the trapezoidal radiator grille.
  • The lighting equipment of the front part of the body consists of narrow blocks of xenon optics with integrated diode running lights and a set of fog lights. The lower part of the bumper is used to accommodate a slotted air intake and plastic protection.
  • In the profile photo of the car you can see roof rails installed on the sloping roof, large three-section windows separated by wide pillars, a wide longitudinal relief visually connecting the high wheel arches and high sills.

From the rear side, the new product is recognizable by its configuration, complemented by a spoiler protrusion of the rear door, the characteristic shape of the rear lamp shades and a wide body kit with built-in exhaust tips, fog lights and an air diffuser.

Interior

The range of finishing materials includes natural and artificial leather, fabrics, metal-stylized plastic parts for interior decoration. It is expected that the Skoda Karok 2019 model will receive the highest level of road comfort in its category.

The standard equipment of the new crossover includes modern equipment and on-board electronics, typical for similar models of a higher class.

Activation and settings of on-board equipment are carried out using a touch display installed on the console. The front panel has:

  • instrument panel with classic arrow indicators and a computer monitor;
  • two vertical deflectors;
  • located under the command display is a remote control with analog elements for setting up the air conditioner.

On the tunnel, in a given sequence, there is a volume for small-sized personal items, a multi-mode transmission selector and chassis adjustment buttons.

There is also a set of cup holders and an armrest that opens up the volume of a regular glove compartment or, in the top version, a refrigerator compartment.

Buttons and switches located on the steering wheel spokes allow the driver to quickly configure individual options. The functionality of soft and comfortable front row seats consists of:

  • from the lateral support,
  • electrically adjustable seats and headrests,
  • seat heating systems and a comfortable armrest.

The new body provides an optimal amount of free space for second-row passengers.
The comfortable three-seater sofa is heated and adjustable for backrest angle.

Specifications

The new body with overall dimensions of 4382 x 1841 x 1605 mm is installed on a chassis with a wheelbase shortened to 2638 mm. Thanks to the design features of the DCC adaptive chassis, the modifications had virtually no effect on the driving performance of the crossover.

The standard luggage compartment capacity is more than 500 liters. When the backrest of the rear sofa is folded, the useful volume increases to 1800 liters.

  • The manufacturer offers the new Skoda Karok 2019 model year in several modifications, with gasoline or diesel power units. In the basic configuration, one- and one-and-a-half liter gasoline drives with an output of 115 and 150 hp.
  • The performance characteristics of diesel analogues are almost the same, with the exception of a turbocharged engine modification with a power of 190 hp.
  • The test drive on all points confirmed the excellent compatibility of the engine range with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed automated transmission.

Almost the entire Skoda Karok series model range is equipped with a chassis with front axle drive. An all-wheel drive chassis is included in the list of additional options.

Options and prices

The minimum price of the base model is 1,650,000 rubles. The presence of additional options can increase the cost of the crossover to 2,000,000 rubles, and the price of top modifications can reach 2,300,000 rubles.

The localized version of the Russian-assembled crossover will differ from the Czech model in having a reinforced chassis and an engine starting system adapted to cold climates.

Start of sales in Russia

European drivers will be able to appreciate the undeniable advantages of the new product in mid-2018. The release date in Russia has not yet been announced; according to experts, the car will be available for purchase closer to the end of the autumn season.

The Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda has planned in 2018-2019 not only to update a number of its models, but also to begin production of new products, which will expand the line of cars it produces, and in segments in which the company was previously absent.

Rapid

The Czech company Skoda has been producing the Rapid subcompact liftback since 2012. The update of the 2018 model mainly concerned the installation of new safety and driver assistance systems, as well as targeted changes in the body design. The radiator grille and the lower air intake have changed slightly, which received front parking sensors. The model has completely retained the external image of a compact liftback.

The car traditionally, like many models of the Volkswagen concern, has a large number of power units (8 modifications), which did not stop the company from adding three more engines to the existing ones:

  • petrol – 95 l. With. (1.0 l);
  • diesel - 90 l. With. (1.4 l);
  • diesel - 116 l. With. (1.6 l).

For the domestic market, the Rapid received a reinforced suspension, as well as an increased ground clearance by 1.2 cm. In the cabin, an instrument panel trim was added and an engine start button was installed. In addition, there is a new rear view camera equipped with a washer, and the monitor is equipped with a graphic image when parking. The small car has a luggage compartment size that is large for its class (530 liters) and several transformation options, and a special folding hatch in the rear row allows for the transportation of long cargo.

Karoq

The 2018 Karoq is the company's new compact crossover SUV. The car has a classic crossover appearance, with powerful bumpers, protective linings, an almost straight roof line, high ground clearance and wide wheel arches. The interior has received good comfort and improved ergonomics.

The Karoq is equipped with a significant number of driver assistance and safety systems. Among the equipment we can note:

  • all-round cameras;
  • front seats and exterior mirrors with memory function;
  • adaptive optics;
  • LED lighting in the cabin.

At the same time, the large 9.2-inch touchscreen monitor of the infotainment complex stands out.

The crossover has two drive options: front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, with the 4×4 version considered an option. Five power units are provided for the configuration, two petrol and three diesel with a capacity from 115 to 190 horsepower.

Octavia

The Octavia passenger car was produced by Skoda in 1996. Restyling of the existing third generation was carried out in 2013. Therefore, the appearance of the 2018 model is quite an expected decision of the company.

The exterior of the Octavia A7 received the following changes:

  • enlarged radiator grille;
  • new shape of headlights;
  • wide air intake;
  • chrome frame of side windows;
  • C-shaped rear lights.

This made it possible to create additional sporting features for a recognizable appearance. There was an increase in the wheelbase and width of the car, which added comfort to the interior. Traditionally used in interior decoration:

  • plastic;
  • textile;
  • soundproofing coating;
  • polished metal inserts.

The configuration includes five engines with power from 105 to 179 horsepower, as well as four gearbox options.

Citigo

The subcompact urban hatchback Citigo has been produced since 2011. The 2018 model year car received minor restyling changes. An increase in length by 3.4 cm is considered important. The small car retains the hatchback body in a three or five-door version.

The power units include two engines with a capacity of 60 and 75 hp. With. and only one 5-speed manual transmission. Inexpensive but high-quality materials are used to decorate the car's interior, which corresponds to the budget class of the hatchback. Skoda does not plan to supply the Citigo model to our country, since such subcompact cars have little demand among domestic buyers.

Yeti

The 2019 Skoda Yeti crossover will receive a completely new appearance, which allows us to talk about the release of a new generation of the popular car. The design of the new product corresponds to the modern fashion of compact SUVs and is very similar to the Ateca crossover, which is produced by SEAT, also part of the Volkswagen group.

Significant changes have been made to the interior, which is now equipped with a classic instrument panel, a large central monitor from the infotainment system, a multifunction steering wheel, and new seats with increased lateral support. The basic version is decorated with soft plastic, fabric, light metal inserts and edging.

There are nine engines from 105 to 170 horsepower. The transmission received two variants of all-wheel drive, front-wheel drive, as well as two versions of the gearbox:

  • mechanical (6-speed);
  • automatic (7 ranges).

Polar

Polar is a new crossover from a Czech company. It belongs to the B-class and will allow Skoda to expand the range of its off-road vehicles in 2019. The appearance of the model is associated with the popularity of SUVs of this class and the new car will have to compete with the following crossovers:

  • Nissan Juke;
  • Ford Kuga;
  • Renault Duster;
  • Renault Captur.

The external image of the Polar closely intersects with the new design of the Skoda Yeti, which is not surprising since the new product is only 10 cm shorter than the modified Yeti crossover.

The car is made on the seventh generation Golf platform. It is planned to use seven different engines with power from 110 to 175 hp. With. The transmission will be all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive. Since Polar belongs to the budget class, the equipment of the basic version cannot be called wide. Among the equipment offered, it is necessary to highlight:

  • front seats with lateral support;
  • multifunction steering wheel;
  • infotainment system;
  • electrically controlled and electrically heated exterior mirrors;
  • parking sensors;
  • keyless access;
  • start the engine with a button.

SUPERB

The flagship model SUPERB has been in production since 2001. The car was developed on the basis of the Volkswagen Passat model and is currently in its third generation since 2015. The updated 2018 liftback received a modified design, which gave the business car solidity, while maintaining the recognition of the model. The interior features a new design of heated seats with a large number of settings, a multifunctional steering wheel, and a stepped center console. The finishing uses luxury materials corresponding to the class of the car:

  • embossed leather;
  • carbon;
  • polished wood;
  • polished metal.

The ergonomics of the cabin have been carefully thought out, and new driver assistance systems have added safety when operating the car. SUPERB received a new line of six power units, with high economic parameters and power from 125 to 280 horsepower. A 7-speed dual-clutch robot is used for the configuration, and the transmission itself will have all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive.

Fabia

Another novelty of the Czech company Skoda is the production of the new Fabia crossover at the end of 2018, beginning of 2019. The appearance of the car has the typical features of the company and is characterized by a stretched radiator grille, a raised front bumper with a lower air intake, and narrow optics. The dark body kit, together with protective elements and high ground clearance, emphasizes that the car belongs to the crossover class.

The interior is made with a high-quality fit of all elements and is very reminiscent of the interior of the Volkswagen Polo model. Features include a significant number of settings for the front seats and the presence of a significant number of different niches, pockets and compartments. The car will receive only two petrol power units with a capacity of 110 hp. With. and diesel with 105 horsepower. The transmission will be front-wheel drive only, with a five-speed manual and a seven-speed automatic transmission available.

Among the planned equipment are:

  • four airbags:
  • LED optics;
  • parking, light and rain controllers;
  • dual-zone climate control;
  • electric windows.

Conclusion

The planned renewal and production of new models will allow the Czech company Skoda to maintain fairly stable demand for its cars in 2018 and 2019, which is an important factor for domestic buyers; the improvements made will not dramatically increase the price of the new products offered.
