The design of the VAZ 2110 began in 1983. The very first car of this class was to be a rear-wheel drive sedan. However, the development never reached its finish line. Subsequently, the development of a car based on the VAZ 2108 began, but the price of such a car resulted in a rather substantial amount, which forced the developers to freeze this project as well. In the future, all these developments result in the VAZ 21099 model.

The release of the first "ten", in the form in which we observe it, was planned by the Togliatti AvtoVAZ plant for 1992. But the time was not calm for Russia, and her birthday was moved to the summer of 1995. And on June 27, the first “ten” (VAZ2110), which was so beloved by quite a large number of people, left the assembly line of AvtoVAZ. The release of this model was carried out for 12 years, until 2007. After that, LADA PRIORA came to replace. Now this car is produced in Cherkasy in Ukraine, and is called Bogdan.

Features, modifications and characteristics of the VAZ 2110

The tenth family of AvtoVAZ includes the following modifications. VAZ 2111, 2112, and of course the “ten” VAZ 2110 itself. Cars are equipped with four-cylinder, eight and sixteen-valve, gasoline engines. Volume from 1.5 to 1.6 liters.

Initially, the VAZ 2110 was produced with a carburetor power system, and after 2000 they began to be supplied with distributive fuel injection (injector), front-wheel drive.

Body types: VAZ 2110 (sedan), 2111 (station wagon), 2112 (hatchback). If we touch on all modifications in terms of repair, then we will not find any special differences. The only difference is different types of body and engine. The rest of the car is almost identical to each other.


Production of the VAZ 2110 in Russia was suspended back in 2007, but this AvtoVAZ development, to this day and in large numbers, can be seen on the roads of our country. This trend has been fixed due to the sufficient reliability of the car, its design, and the budgetary low price of the car.

Of course, there is no need to talk about luxury inside the cabin. But compared to the VAZ 21099 model, in the top ten, especially in the rear seats, there is much more space. Fuses and relays for the main functions of the car are located in the cabin, on the left side under the steering wheel, which is very convenient, unlike 21099. VAZ 2110 comes with engines 2110, 2111, 2112. Engines 11 and 12 models are equipped with an injector, and 10 models, carburetor. With a working engine and battery, it starts up even in very severe frosts, it will seize up to -25 quite easily, even if it stays idle for a couple of days. It is desirable, of course, that the oil be filled according to the season.


Chassis, great for our “high-quality”, Russian roads. As for the interior, it does not differ in great amenities, as mentioned above. For a comfortable ride, it will be good if it is occupied by thin or medium-sized people, and by seating 4 healthy men in addition to the driver, you can feel like a herring rolled up in a jar.

Having a not too roomy interior, the VAZ 2110 is equipped with a spacious trunk of 450 liters. The transportation of long narrow loads is thought out, for this purpose the middle back of the rear seat reclines completely, the rear backs located on the sides also recline, but with a smaller amplitude. The founder of a new generation of front-wheel drive cars - the VAZ 2110 sedan has been mass-produced since 1996. "Ten" was initially equipped only with short-stroke carbureted 1.5-liter 69-horsepower VAZ-21083 engines, which, combined with a high degree of unification for a number of components and assemblies (unfortunately, not all) with already produced cars, somewhat simplified the owners of the first " dozen" of their operation and maintenance. Although there were quite a few problems with "original", and therefore scarce spare parts (for example, an expansion tank, front struts, etc.). On the other hand, performance: a top speed of 162 km/h and an average fuel consumption of 7.5 l/100 km are significantly improved (by 12%) compared to the 21099, mainly due to a reduction in the drag coefficient. Currently, the carburetor engine has given way under the hood to a new generation of engines with distributed fuel injection and electronic control.

The model with an 8-valve 79-horsepower engine with a working volume of 1.5 liters with distributed fuel injection has the VAZ 21102 index. Such an engine provides sufficient performance in terms of power (56 kW) and torque (118 Nm), with moderate fuel consumption. The maximum speed of such a car reaches 170 km / h, and acceleration to "hundreds" takes 14 seconds. Cars with such an engine, due to its high elasticity and traction, are especially good when traveling in heavy urban traffic.

For more active drivers, a 16-valve version with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine was developed based on this engine. with a capacity of 94 hp, with a twin-shaft cylinder head, providing increased performance in terms of power (69 kW) and torque (130 Nm), allowing the car to have improved dynamic qualities. A car equipped with such an engine has the VAZ 21103 index, the maximum speed is already 185 km / h, and acceleration to “hundreds” takes only 12.5 seconds. These modifications on the roads are becoming more and more common, as well as the 2-liter 150-horsepower versions of the VAZ-21106 CTi are quite economical, expressive and expensive. No wonder, because the Opel X20XEV engine with a twin-shaft 16-valve cylinder head and a point injection system allows you to accelerate to 205 km / h. With it, the hundred-kilometer barrier is overcome in just 9.5 seconds. There is also a combat 240-horsepower (!) VAZ-21107 "Rally" 2.0 V16 with a special tubular safety cage built into the body. Its maximum speed is 220 km/h, and the acceleration time to 100 km/h takes only 7 seconds! But they make it piece by piece, only by order of athletes, but it costs - like foreign rally cars: expensive (22 thousand dollars). I must say that some domestic tuning companies create (even without the use of expensive imported components) quite successful speed or, on the contrary, comfortable versions of the "tens", dynamics, the handling of which is significantly improved when driving. There are also all-wheel drive versions of the "dozens" of a sports or all-terrain orientation, but they are either experimental or small-scale, and therefore expensive.

Modern interior design (which is still not as neat as that of foreign counterparts), good aerodynamics, a spacious luggage compartment (480 l) with wide transformation possibilities (a sunroof in the rear seat and a trunk lid that reaches the bumper allow you to carry long loads), a high degree of maintainability - all this is in favor of the VAZ-2110.

The front-wheel drive "tenth" family from Tolyatti, designed from a sheet, is, of course, a new word in the domestic automotive industry. Compared to previous VAZ models, the softness, smoothness and stability of the ride have increased (for which I had to pay with more “cottoniness” of the steering, which, however, is acceptable for a higher class, which included the “ten”). Improved economy. But at the same time - the lack of options, incompleteness, low-quality components. To the "world level" is still oh how far away! In addition, due to the "soft" suspension and 13-inch rims, the car constantly clings to the road with insufficiently strong factory engine protection. Everything indicates that the ideal balance between ride comfort and handling for a domestic car has not yet been found.

In the model range of JSC "AVTOVAZ" in 2002, modifications of the VAZ-21102 and VAZ-21103 are presented. The following versions are provided - "standard" (VAZ-21102-00), "norm" (VAZ-21102-01 and VAZ-21103-01) and "luxury" (VAZ-21102-02 and VAZ-21103-02).

Purchased a car relatively recently. And, despite the fact that when I bought it, I did not see any shortcomings in the VAZ 2110 at all. But, after riding it for a month and a half, there is still something to pay attention to. The car is used every day. I work on it. A couple of times I flew into a hole right in the middle of the road in the dark (well, you know how it happens - an ordinary city road with a pothole), so much so that I thought something would really fall off now. No, it didn't fall off. In general, very satisfied. I don’t want to get out of the VAZ 2110, I would have rode like that (although I’ve been on it all day at work). Someone in it is uncomfortable, but I’m even very uncomfortable - the chair is comfortable, and the steering wheel is perfectly located, and my back does not get tired. Getting out, however, is not always convenient, you touch the rubber band on the side with a boot, but these are trifles. At first, after the “classics”, it was hard to get used to the review - the edges of the hood are not visible from behind the steering wheel, and the distance from the forehead to the glass is huge (in the “six” you rest your forehead directly on the glass). The cross-country ability pleased me - if the "classic" skidded on icy asphalt, on the "top ten" I drive through such yards that sometimes I even wonder myself - how it slipped, how it did not sit down. Uphill in winter - no problem, but you look at the "sevens" and "fours" - they slip and roll back with curses, but my VAZ 2110 is nothing, it pulls. The optics are rather weak, but, again, in comparison with what. A friend has a "nine", so there is the same story. The rear seats are very comfortable, there is a retractable armrest, though without fixation, but the fact itself is important. For the entire (short) period of operation, the car did not fail even once, while the “six” was dragged three times in the “tie” for the first three days of operation. And in general, what can I say, there is an abyss between the “classics” and the VAZ 2110. I consider the "ten" a good acquisition.

Advantages : seemed pretty reliable to me. Inexpensive to maintain. Comfortable car for the money.

Flaws : the eternal rattling of the cabin.

So, VAZ 2110, 1998, a carburetor with an "eight" engine. Capri color. Casting, body kit, music, sports lights. The old owner tried to give the car the look of a sports car, it turned out like this, for "three plus", but it looks, of course, prettier than the original. I bought a car from a neighbor, I urgently needed some kind of vehicle in order to get to work and back, and the family increased, it became difficult to wander around buses with a small child in my arms. Before the VAZ 2110, I didn’t have my own car, I rode on official ones. Not everything is as bad as many reviews say. The car is quite nimble, despite its 70 forces, but the engine loves speed, this is not a BMW to drive from a place under a “hundred”. Salon - nothing unusual, Spartan furnishings from VAZ Couturiers. A little narrower at the back, but with clenched teeth, shoulders, hands, three of us can fit there. Not for long, however, but the four of us have enough. I was pleased with the trunk, which I just didn’t carry in it, for long things the armrest in the back seat is removed and it’s normal. Driving performance is acceptable, provided that this same running gear is not abandoned, but monitored. And so, the VAZ 2110 turns confidently, everything is within the normal range. The engine is the strongest point of this car. Simple and reliable. The injector is much harder to maintain, but here are the keys and a screwdriver, no electronics and related problems. Nirazu, I repeat, never once did this engine cause any complaints from either me or the previous owner. Everything works like clockwork. At the same time, one should not spare money for good oil and filters for it, so that it would not be excruciatingly painful later. As a result, I can say that the VAZ 2110 is a normal budget car, for moving from point "A" to point "B". Who needs comfort like in an apartment, or who likes to “fly low” - this is for other manufacturers, over the hill.

Advantages : reliable engine. The price of spare parts (almost in any pharmacy and in stock). Acceptable ride quality.

Flaws : poor soundproofing. Poor initial build quality. This applies to everything. Bad oven.

First, the good: definitely the engine. The 1.6 16V motor is very good. And if it had not been “strangled” under the euro, it would have been even better, but this can be solved. The compression ratio is lower than 1.5 due to grooves, so a broken belt is not critical (of course, there are cases, but their proportion is very small). Compared to 1.5, it is much more elastic, the VAZ 2110 rides merrily and up to 3500 rpm. The motor spins quietly and loves speed, while still quiet, thanks to hydraulic lifters. It works a little loud only on the "cold", but it's the exhaust to blame. Yes, and still quieter than the "Prior". In general, the performance characteristics for a budget car are on par. The trunk of 450 liters is just a fairy tale. 3rd gear is very well chosen for me: from 30 to 120 km / h. It helps a lot when overtaking, turn on the 3rd and if you need to be in time, you turn the engine up to 5500. Normal aerodynamics and not as clear as on Samara, the steering is also a plus on the track. The car handles well at high speeds and fuel consumption pleases. Terrain: short overhangs and ground clearance allow for normal climbing. We get a lot of snow in winter, so this is relevant. If without fanaticism, then you can move around without problems. What I don't like: long rake. Almost 4 turns strain, and the lack of power steering does not bother me, namely the long steering rack. The metal on the hood above the grille is prone to small dents. You can not lean or press from above. The 2nd gear engagement mechanism is a disease of all 10 boxes. Wears out the fastest, turns on with effort. In general, the 2nd gear on the VAZ 2110 was chosen poorly. With fast acceleration, it is precisely because of the operation of the transmission that when switching from 1st to 2nd, the “tens” have the biggest loss of time. A plan for replacing the GPU and a number is already brewing in my head. Uneven fitting of parts: I think I won’t discover America here. The gaps on the "dozens" are more noticeable than on many other VAZs. On the first machines there were less, there is an opinion that the wear of the dies. The review is not very good: the front pillars and side mirrors are far from perfect (although definitely better than on Samara). Behind the spoiler and a high trunk, although the "12-ke" is even worse. Impressions about the car are purely positive. I knew what I was buying and did not expect anything supernatural. VAZ 2110 seems to me an honest car. Everyone knows its shortcomings, but it works off the money invested in it.

Advantages : engine. Big trunk. Simplicity and, in my case, reliability.

Flaws : checkpoint. Assembly.

The choice fell on the VAZ 2110. I liked everything. The machine is 13 years old. There is corrosion on the front passenger side and on the rear left door. And the top of the rear window. And that's it. The bottom is ok. As a result, the diagnostics immediately washed the nozzles - and that's it. Later changed the box. The hinge itself is from Kalina. Later brake pads, new battery, rear left wheel brake cylinder. And 3 alternator belts. Everything is fine in the generator. The belts themselves are of poor quality, they are not erased, but simply stretch like an elastic band from panties. For which I love our cars, armed with a pair of keys 10-13-17, a screwdriver and a knife, you can sort out half a car. The headlights do not shine, I removed the contacts, cleaned them with a knife - “nishtyak” shines. Well, actually my opinion on the VAZ 2110. Convenient, although there is a feeling that someone put the seat crookedly closer to the middle, and the steering wheel is closer to the door. And you sit slightly crooked (well, or it seems to me). In terms of acceleration: it pulls well from the bottom, 1-2-3-4 is normal, 5 so that the speed is kept and the speed is reduced so that it eats less. If overtaking, then I drop it to a lower one, from 4 to 3, spin 4.5 revolutions, 4, also up to 4, and then 5. In another way, overtaking is mournful, because it’s hard to accelerate by 5. There are no complaints about the engine. But thanks to good roads, I visit the service station, about hodovka. Noise isolation is relative, in 13 year old 10 as in 3 year old 15-ke. That is not bad. Well, what else, I'm looking for an auto electrician to set up a contact group, sometimes it starts up every other time, although everything is fine with the engine. Battery and spark plugs are new. Brakes: weak. In order to slow down normally, I slow down by smooth pressing, multiple times.

Advantages : engine reliability. Noise isolation is good. Relative comfort. Clearance. Fuel consumption.

Flaws : Heats up quickly. Oven problems.

As the first car, it was decided to take an inexpensive car, so that it would not be a pity, and just get skills (I did not want to become a painter-tinker-diagnostician). We looked at the rotten "eight", then the "ten" of 1998. In general, I really liked the VAZ 2110, both in appearance and in ergonomics. Sit comfortably, there is enough space. Other options were overseas cars of the 95-96s and the "seven". It was decided - I bought a "ten". In the second week of ownership, the crankshaft oil seal began to knock out, while all the oil flowed out. On bad advice, I drove 5 kilometers with a burning light bulb, nothing terrible happened. But I won't do that again. Piston rings were replaced in the garage, cylinder head gasket - work for the day, materials for 500 rubles. The problem is gone. I got acquainted with the repair of AvtoVAZ - most of the time it takes not repairing the car, but remembering that very mother and trying to unscrew the stuck nuts and bolts, or at least crawl up to them. For more than a year of ownership has been replaced by CV joint, burnt-out muffler, brake pipes. Consumables (oils, liquids), well, a low beam light bulb - this can be kept silent. The default tire size R13 is cheaper than 15 or 14. Spare parts are inexpensive. During the spring and summer, I rolled all the surrounding primers, the VAZ 2110 rushing like a tank. In winter, too, there were no problems with jamming. In general, the "ten" was pleased as an elephant, did not let down on the way. In terms of reliability / price - just a fairy tale.

Advantages : if you follow the car - reliability. High clearance. Acceptable cost. Comfortable seats.

Flaws : nameplate AvtoVAZ spoils the image.

Initial mileage, when buying 213.8 thousand km. Decent, but the body is in good condition. I am the third owner of the VAZ 2110, the first car was 8 years old, and the second one was 3 years old. Salon - pilot, winter and summer casting. Heating autonomous Teplostar. Almost 100 thousand km ago, the internal combustion engine was overhauled, with the replacement of pistons, so that the valve now does not bend when the timing belt breaks. The pilot's seats are not native, and the upholstery began to crack at the seams, I will think - to tighten it or get by with covers. All electric windows, heated seats. I liked that the engine is alive, the box and the clutch are not tortured. When starting, the starter makes noise and constant noise from the generator. I decided to change them immediately, rather than repair them. Repaired, old, I will leave as spare. The handbrake cables are terribly stretched out - also under replacement. Broken rods in the heater deflectors. Immediately after the purchase, I added antifreeze - almost 2 liters, does not go anywhere, at the same time I changed the lid of the expansion tank from Luzarov to a blue foreign-made one with 2 valves. Acceleration is peppy, the VAZ 2110 responds well to the pedal, the brakes are a little tight (after Audi - my typewriter), there is no play in the gearshift lever and steering wheel. The car cost 95 thousand rubles, the starter and gene - 6.5 thousand rubles, the cable - 0.4 thousand rubles, the cover and antifreeze - 0.5 thousand rubles. For the future - the appearance of the seats and normal tires for summer and winter. While more investments do not foresee. What else can you write about the well-known car? Nothing, except that the living apparatus will compete with foreign cars up to 100 thousand rubles.

"Ten" I have a severe. No power steering, ABS, automatic gearboxes and other parking sensors for you. No discounts or favors. Although, perhaps, this is not entirely cons. I park without electronic gadgets, and what mirrors (if you need to turn your head is useful), the steering wheel is easier than KrAZovsky, and I myself am not a dystrophic. But the light on the VAZ 2110 was very disappointing - the native headlights are simply terrible. I changed light bulbs, installed PTF - everything was like a dead poultice. Now they seem to do better at the VAZ, at least the father on the Grant praises. Ergonomics of the cabin for an amateur. A fan of the Prodigy band, for example. That is, the aesthetics of the ugly. The four switches that are in combination with the dashboard are a good find, but everything else is not so hot. Everything is kind of small, crowded into a pile. Very inconvenient "emergency gang", I often use it in the city (to say thank you to someone on occasion). In general, at night it is not highlighted at all in any way, it took a long time to get used to it. To see the time on the clock, you need to completely lower your right hand. Salon and landing - a bit crowded, of course. But it's not the car's fault, but my size. Power window buttons under the handbrake. Know-how, of course, is interesting. It’s good that it’s already cold now and you don’t have to urgently get used to such an original arrangement of this equipment. At first, I did not like the mirrors on the VAZ 2110. But then I got used to both the salon and the side ones. Everything seems to be visible. Even changed his mind to put panoramic. The trunk, in principle, is roomy for its class, but for me it is small. I love it when you can take almost anything with you, but the VAZ 2110 cannot afford this. Pluses are also present: I finally have a car - this is the main plus. And yet: sufficient dynamics for me. I don’t trudge in the city, people don’t beep from behind. If you succumb to speed above 3 thousand, it generally runs briskly. I don’t make risky maneuvers on the track, if someone is driving in front of about a hundred and behaves adequately, I don’t strive to overtake. It was the case, I accelerated on overtaking up to 130 - it pulls normally, but I repeat, I don’t need it faster. The state of the engine, the working compression in all cylinders sets us up for cautious optimism. Very economical consumption. Cycle city-highway 6.5-8.2 liters. Over 8 passed only a couple of times (accounting for checks) and then in decent frosts and with intense traffic jams. I fill with 92, sometimes I dilute with 95. Full size spare.

The first work on the VAZ-2110 car began back in the 80s - the layout appeared in 1983, and the prototype was created in 1984! But then the development was postponed in favor of a more real development of the Samara project. And although work on a car that could become the flagship of the VAZ lineup and the ancestor of a new generation of front-wheel drive cars continued to be carried out, only in 1992 did the first prototype appear. Its introduction into production was prevented by economic circumstances. Serial production began in 1996. The car that opened the Lada 110 family favorably differed from other domestic cars of this class in its modern design and interior, spacious interior and improved performance.


With the advent of the "ten" buyers of Russian cars for the first time had the opportunity to take advantage of the following technical innovations: an adjustable steering column, an immobilizer, an on-board computer. Unlike previous models, the VAZ-2110 car has new original developments: the use of galvanized metal for body parts that are most susceptible to corrosion, fastening the hood on gas stops, a gasoline vapor recovery system, ventilated brake discs and a number of other innovations. It was possible to install an air conditioner, which is standardly equipped with some of the machines. In the “norm” configuration, the car received power windows, body painting with metallic enamels, velor upholstery of the seats and doors, head restraints in the rear seat. In the “luxury” configuration, cars are additionally equipped with 14-inch alloy wheels, an on-board computer, a front seat heating system, electric and heated exterior rear-view mirrors, and fog lights.

The “Ten” was initially equipped with carbureted 1.5-liter 69-horsepower VAZ-21083 engines, which, combined with a high degree of unification for a number of components and assemblies with existing cars, somewhat simplified the operation and maintenance of the owners. The base engine was the VAZ-21100 (73 hp), an 8-valve carburetor with a working volume of 1.5 liters. A model with an 8-valve 79-horsepower 1.5-liter engine with distributed fuel injection has the VAZ 21102 index. Such an engine provides sufficient performance in terms of both power and torque, with moderate fuel consumption. The maximum speed of the car reaches 170 km / h, and acceleration to “hundreds” takes 14 seconds. For more active drivers, a 16-valve version of the 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 94 hp was developed, with a twin-shaft cylinder head, providing increased thrust-to-weight ratio. A car equipped with such an engine has the VAZ 21103 index, the maximum speed is already 185 km / h, and acceleration to “hundreds” takes only 12.5 seconds. The car was also equipped with engines of 1.6 and 2 liters (sports modification 21106) with a capacity of 81-89 and 150 hp.

The front suspension is independent with telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers. Rear - semi-independent, spring, with a twisting beam. The design largely repeats its predecessor, the "nine", but compared to the 21099 sedan, the "tens" had significantly improved performance, including fuel consumption, mainly due to a decrease in the aerodynamic drag coefficient. A significant step forward was the capacious luggage compartment (480 l) with wide possibilities of transformation: a hatch in the rear seat and a trunk lid that reaches the bumper allow you to carry long loads.

Significantly increased the safety of the "tens" in comparison with its predecessor models. For example, the car received height-adjustable upper seat belt mounts, a driver's airbag in separate trim levels. Ventilated disc brakes on the front wheels are the key to shorter stopping distances. The car has a safer power structure of the cabin, with additional stiffening bars in the doors, which ensures the strength of the "cage" with passengers. Although there were some shortcomings here, nevertheless, in terms of the totality of the parameters, the “ten” is the safest of all modern domestic cars.

"Ten" was destined to enter the assembly line in a difficult period - the gradual conquest of the market by foreign-made cars, including used ones, demonstrating a completely different level of reliability and equipment, began. But for a conservative Russian buyer, a big role in the popularity of this car was played not so much by the price and its ratio to quality, but by a high degree of maintainability and the possibility of repair in garage conditions. That allowed the "top ten" to remain the most prestigious and expensive domestic car until the appearance of the new Lada Priora model.
