How to choose a used BMW X5 E70 in good condition. Bmw x5 e70: description, technical specifications, equipment Equipment preferences

In 2.5 years I drove the X5 45,000 km across the vast expanses. What can I say as a summary review?…

I burned on it. The combination of engine, chassis and gearbox provokes. I can’t say that it killed me, but the operating conditions were the most severe - almost all the time in sport mode. In front of tram tracks and bumps, I slowed down as much as I could comfortably pass through them or as much as I was in a hurry. Controlled sideways sliding along deserted night wide winter intersections. Replacing pads every 10 thousand km, more often than oil)))

During this time, not a single breakdown occurred. Maintenance and control inspection of everything after the end of the warranty did not reveal a single malfunction or recommendation for replacement. Externally and internally the car looks new. The paintwork has not peeled off anywhere, not even a single edge; the thick leather of the seats does not have a pattern on the backside.

I’ll say right away that such a small mileage is 35t.km. It turns out because the distance “home-work” is not by chance less than 5 km. But I don’t think that low mileage “solves everything,” since a lot depends on the conditions in which the car is used. On this site there are reviews in which people tell how they have never changed the pads on their Golf after driving 100 tons. km. Everything is very different for me. A set of pads is worn down in 10t.km, respectively, I have already changed it three times and after 5 it is time to replace the pads with discs. The gearbox often lives in sport mode, and the tachometer will end up in the red zone almost every trip. I don’t brake much in front of potholes - when the road is not all broken, and like most of our roads - in some places. The air suspension absorbs bumps perfectly, there is no discomfort from it. When replacing tires, however, as a rule, some disc has to be rolled so that it becomes round again. What I mean is that the load on all components and assemblies is like an adult. I suspect the mileage is 100k. km on pads alone would be much more gentle.

Now, actually, about breakdowns. It’s a pity to disappoint experts, but nothing has broken in 2 years. That is, nothing at all. If they are spelled, then Nikolai, Ilya, Khariton, Ulyana, Yakov. Yes, yes, this is the same broken BMW of the slop Kaliningrad assembly.

I see lately it has become fashionable to criticize BMW. To be on trend - and experienced people say that you can still earn 300 virtual rubles - I’ll tell you about serious shortcomings identified during two years of active use of my X5. So, in descending order of importance.

1. Exterior mirrors

If you drive a lot in wet snow along the roundabout or just quickly and for a long time, then the side windows and exterior mirrors are covered with flying dirt until they are completely invisible. Apparently German engineers believe that pure German rain flows down clean windows and evaporates from heated clean mirrors. But in our realities, after 100 km of driving in conditions “the snow was sprinkled with reagents and sand,” the visibility in the mirrors decreases to 0. Several times it happened that after achieving the goal, I had to give the car a figure-eight wash - that is, wipe the glass and mirrors. The reason is that the aerodynamics of the body remove the “waste” from the windshield wipers from the windshield and all this flies onto the glass and mirrors. It appears if you drive in such weather at 120+.

  • Complete disadvantages

I once again greet the current and future owners of this wonderful brand, as well as all my colleagues in the auto shop! Now, after 7.5 months, I walked 10,000 km with my “gray” and therefore slowly got to the first maintenance (although the dealer recommends 15,000, but I am faithful to established traditions and do this once every 10,000 km). My impressions during this time: Speaking about the dynamic characteristics, as I noted earlier, there are no special questions, but as always I want something bigger and wider, so I installed a block to increase engine power. But more on that later. Handling is still there - it's a BMW. Everything is clear, understandable, predictable. You drive like a sedan, only higher. No rolls, no dives. Really like. Mercedes can't do that.

Noise insulation is also at the highest level. After the winter, I installed the original wheels with Bridgestone run flat... I drove for a week - I had to splurge on NOT run flat. I bought a Continental UHP. It became much quieter, softer, more comfortable. It’s really not ice to ride on the already tough X5 + run flat. And now it's fine. But in the city. A couple of times we went fishing with a friend. He has LK200. Where he doesn’t even feel what’s under the wheels, I have a drum roll on my teeth))). But on the highway - where I hold the steering wheel with two fingers, changing lanes, he holds the car with his teeth... I.E. to each his own. I move around the city and asphalt roads outside the city 99.9%. BMW is more relevant to me.

About ergonomics - I got used to everything very quickly, the new i-drive is simply fabulous. Everything is clear, everything is at hand. A very convenient thing. There was one question about the interior for the dealer - I just couldn’t find the “cricket”. Found at TO. The torpedo today is not what it used to be, but it has been fixed. Now there is silence. The review is simply superb! Huge mirrors allow you to see everything around. Unlike the X6, all-round visibility is also at the highest level. In terms of reliability, I won’t say anything, because everything is ideal. In 10,000 km the car never even sneezed))).

Weak sides:

  • There are no special ones. Is it just a bit harsh?

Review of BMW X5 xDrive30d (BMW X5) 2012 Part 2

So, the promised continuation after the run-in. So, I honestly drove 2000 km as a first grader))). Although, to be honest, in Moscow, revving a diesel engine up to 2000 rpm turned out to be very acceptable for everything... But this is already a thing of the past.

After the break-in it's a completely different matter. As for the dynamics, I want to say that the car drives very well. You really don't need more. Although it depends on who. But revving the engine up to 3000 rpm already makes it possible to see sadly lagging behind in the rearview mirror... And the sport mode of the box is a real song. The car, in a good sense, “turns ugly before our eyes” in a split second. Any overtaking, any checkers, any maneuvers - everything is within reach. At first I thought about chipping in with the officials - there really was no point. For me for sure. Last week in Leningradka we got hooked on the new Cayenne S... nothing surprised us. But I drive like this very rarely. Very. Mostly quiet, measured driving in traffic and overtaking necessary “to save your nerves))). This is about dynamics.

Handling is beyond praise. There is absolutely no impression that you are driving a car that weighs 2 tons. No rolls, no dives, no swaying... I really like it. Indeed, apparently it’s not for nothing that they say about BMW that it’s a driver’s car. This is true.

Strengths:

  • Controllability
  • Dynamics
  • Functionality

  • Design

Weak sides:

  • As it turned out, rapids. Very uncomfortable. You get dirty about them
  • Probably a little rustic interior design compared to its classmates

Review of BMW X5 xDrive35i (BMW X5) 2011 Part 3

After reading my review, the audience will be divided into those who condemn and those who understand. I will immediately write for the latter.

I've been driving for 16 years now, I've driven a lot of different cars - from the Lada Five Shaggy Year to the 221 S63amg, and now I'll tell you why you can love BMW :)

We all know that rear-wheel drive is easy to skid, it’s kind of “more fun.” Front-wheel drive is more stable and easier to adjust movement in most situations (not all). All-wheel drive makes the car more stable than one on any axle. But it has always been like this - if you skid in all-wheel drive, then full alley - controllability is lost, you have to very skillfully fight the skid in order to extinguish it. Previous experience in operating all-wheel drive vehicles clearly indicated that it is better to avoid skidding. The car turns into an uncontrollable projectile that rushes somewhere.

Hi all!

And now, the day of specifics has come. A call to a friend who is very involved in the auto business: “Hello, what is good in Moscow out of 535?”…. “We’ll find out!” 10 minutes, YES! He gives the manager’s phone number, I call, make an appointment, but with a note to see what they have there... I arrive, wait for the manager, walk around the salon... There are various very nice cars, but the X5 is the most beautiful of all... I forgot to even think about puzoterke 535 and all my gaze and ardor was already directed at the SUV, which I didn’t want))). The manager came up, I said - that’s it! Let's change shoes to X5...

Review of BMW X5 xDrive35i (BMW X5) 2011 Part 2

It's been almost a year since I switched from the Lexus RX330 to the new X5. In the first review there were more and more emotions, in a year I will try to talk about the car more meaningfully, although the emotions have not gone away)

The interior and everything inside is very comfortable, despite its very simple and laconic appearance compared to its classmates. There are plenty of places to store small things, you don’t have to reach far for anything, the automatic transmission joystick is ideally at hand - and this is important, since by moving it to the left it puts the car into sport mode, which I use all the time.

Let's say that the Audi is much more elegant and “richer” inside, I read a review here where a person chose the Audi from the German three because he sat in the cabin. IMHO, it's nonsense, because you can only choose a BMW specifically by trying how it drives and, most importantly, how it steers.

Strengths:

  • Excellent dynamics and handling

Weak sides:

  • They steal mirrors

Review of BMW X5 xDrive35i (BMW X5) 2010

Before BMW, my preferred brand of car was Volvo. There were all models in the luxury segment of this brand (s80 2.4 xc90 2.5 xc90 v8) very good cars in terms of price and quality, but I always liked the appearance of the x5. And finally it’s time to change the car, since I haven’t been able to drive the same car for more than 2-3 years. And I wanted, as they say, to change my wardrobe and change the brand of car from something more prestigious... The choice began. The first place I went to was Audi, I signed up for a test drive on the Q7. The car is very presentable, powerful in appearance and inside, but since the test was a car only with a 3.0 liter diesel engine. I had to be content with what I had... And here are the first impressions: it looks very big, but inside it seemed a little cramped to me because of the wide console in the middle, since my height is 1.90 and my weight is 100 kg, but there is enough room for my legs... Dynamics on diesel for a quiet The ride is quite normal, and the suspension is not very stiff, the only minus is the dimensions of the car (very long) when parking it is not convenient: the car’s ass is constantly sticking out... Still, since I didn’t consider diesel at all, the manager assured me that gasoline 3.0 l 333 hp will be much more interesting, I didn’t draw negative conclusions about this car... Regarding the cost of the car, everything seemed to me very expensive... What is already in the database in other brands was offered here as additional options and the price came up at 4,000,000 yama. And since this car was not available, they offered to wait 4 months, but since I wanted it today and now I decided not to stop in my search.

I arrived at the BMW showroom and there was an X5 3.5i restyled model in stock. I really liked the car's appearance! Very charismatic and nothing superfluous... Quite a rich set of equipment in the car had everything except: cruise, projection on the head-up and TV tuner, and everything else... I decided not to focus on these options since on all the cars that I had, I never had a cruise I used it and considered it, in principle, not such a global drawback, and the rest did not bother me at all. The price was 3,800,000 rubles.

Review of BMW X5 xDrive35i (BMW X5) 2011

There are few reviews of the new X5, and there are few test drives, but after the 2010-2011 restyling, the car has changed significantly. I’ll write my own - maybe it will help someone in choosing.

The main joy after restyling is new engines and an 8-speed automatic transmission. Previously, the line of engines in the X5 was, in my opinion, rather strange. The 3.0 petrol engine produced 272 hp. to the delight of the tax authorities, but at the same time he was driving... using a quote from the BMW Club - “like a vegetable.” The engine was really weak at low end and didn’t have any special dynamics. 4.8 gasoline drove great, but it was quite expensive, because... still top. The 3.0 diesel remained - 245 horsepower - a small tax and after simple chip tuning it drove much better than its gasoline counterpart. All understanding comrades were hunting for the 3.0 diesel.

After restyling, gasoline engines began to be equipped with a two-channel turbine with variable geometry and the picture changed. Now the “weakest” gasoline engine in combination with a new gearbox provides dynamics at the pre-Restayl 4.8 level. At the same time, in combination with the new gearbox, the movement became really mmmm)) Confident pickup from the very bottom, the complete absence of even a hint of the feeling of shifting down gears during kickdown and instant responsiveness. It's truly a delight! You just press the pedal and it goes straight away, smoothly and precisely. Amazing feeling.

Strengths:

  • Sit behind the wheel and understand everything. Words cannot describe it. You just have to try

Review of BMW X5 (BMW X5) 2002

Hi all!

Four years ago, having sold my E-39, I swore never to deal with this brand again, but it so happened that a year and a half ago I became the owner of an Xa5. Immediately about the positive: I am delighted with the AV car, every day you get behind the wheel of this car and experience euphoria! Dynamics, handling, information content, brakes - a car for any mood. If you want, you float around the city enjoying the music (we have excellent roads in the city and I have Hi-End music installed), if you want, you rush like a crazy bastard from the drive.

BMW X5 (e70) is a car produced by the BMW concern since 2007. To be more precise, this is the second generation of the model, which was produced until 2013, and in 2010 it underwent restyling. The BMW X5, like the BMW X5, was aimed at wealthy citizens who value power, comfort, cross-country ability, impeccable handling and brand prestige in a crossover. This SUV was presented in 2006, as part of the Paris Motor Show, while its restyled version was presented at the Geneva International Motor Show in 2010.

Exterior

2007-2010

In general, the style of the BMW X5 (e70) remains the same, but there are quite a few changes in appearance. The dimensions of the car have grown noticeably - the length alone has increased by 200 mm - now it is 4,850 mm. Almost all body panels have been changed.

The hood with its signature “nostrils” received a different shape, and the lines of the head optics became smoother. The front bumper has noticeably changed - metamorphoses have occurred in its configuration, the seats for the fog lights (still round) have become different, and decorative plugs have been placed on the sides of the air intake.

There were also enough changes in the profile - the shape of the crossover turned out to be noticeably more inflated, especially the wheel arches, which immediately gave it power and seriousness. As before, there was a straight line along the top of the doors and the rear wing, but now it changed from concave to convex. The stern has also become much more expressive and solid. By the way, such attractive shapes not only pleased the eye, but also provided record aerodynamic drag in the segment - Cx 0.33!

Restyling (2010-2013)

In 2010, designers had a hard time, because the time was ripe for another facelift. So it was necessary to make a car that was already selling well even better. And they succeeded! It was immediately clear that there was no need to expect major changes - only fine-tuned touches were needed. And the designers’ hand didn’t waver!

The contour of the front bumper was again changed, receiving a new air intake, and the radiator grille was slightly retouched. The optics not only changed their configuration, but also acquired LEDs, and the rear lights were also restyled. As a result, the car became even more attractive, more solid and aggressive, without losing its innate nobility!

In addition, a brown color scheme has appeared in the color palette, and the appearance has been refreshed with new wheels.

Engines

2007-2010

A trio of power units was offered for the BMW X5 (e70). The base engine was a 3-liter 6-cylinder in-line gasoline engine - N52B30. Its power was 272 hp. s., thanks to which he was already able to accelerate the heavy crossover to 100 km/h in just 8.3 seconds.

But for the most active, born leaders, the car was equipped with a 4.8-liter V8 - N62B48, the output of which reached 355 hp. With. With such a power unit under the hood, BMW could compete with almost any model. Fortunately, acceleration to hundreds in just 6.5 seconds. allowed it. As for the maximum speed, the crossover could reach 240 km/h.

In addition to gasoline engines, there was also a turbodiesel - for those who like a more economical and measured ride. However, it was not inferior in power to its gasoline counterpart - 286 hp. With.! Such indicators became possible thanks to the presence of 2 turbochargers in the engine design.

Restyling (2010-2013)

In this case, all power units of the BMW X5 (e70) have increased in power, dynamics and environmental friendliness. Now there was parity between gasoline and diesel engines - 2 units each. But if the latter were only modified, the former changed radically.

Photo: BMW x5 (e70) with body kit from HAMANN

The base engine was the 3-liter N55B30 petrol engine (xDrive35i configuration), with an in-line 6-cylinder design and a turbocharger. Its output increased to 306 hp. s., which was already an excellent indicator. But the flagship 4.4-liter gasoline unit (xDrive50i trim level), which took the place of the 4.8-liter engine, turned out to be much more productive. This noble V8, equipped with an adjustable twin turbocharging system, already developed 407 hp. With.

The diesel engines were 6-cylinder units. The weaker was the 3-liter N57D30OL (xDrive30d equipment) with output of 245 hp. s., while its more powerful “brother” N57D30TOP (xDrive40d equipment), also with a volume of 3 liters, already produced 306 hp. With.

It is noteworthy that it was from restyling that all power units in the line were tailored to Euro-5 environmental standards.

checkpoint

2007-2010

After the release of the second generation, designers and marketers decided to move away from tradition and left no room for a manual transmission on the crossover - only automatic transmissions were installed on the BMW X5 (e70). Initially, the SUV was equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Restyling (2010-2013)

But during the modernization, this “automatic” was replaced with a much more technologically advanced ZF transmission - an 8-speed one. In addition to increasing the number of stages, this AT was equipped with a new torque converter with an increased range of gear ratios and reduced switching losses.

Chassis and steering

Photo: BMW X5 M (e70) from G-Power

2007-2010

As for the chassis layout, it remains the same - it is a fully independent, multi-link suspension, with permanent all-wheel drive and hydraulic power steering. Among other innovations, the BMW X5 (e70) was equipped with Active Steering technology (active steering system). She was responsible for changing the gear ratio of the drive (steering), and it varied depending on the driving conditions. It was especially noticeable in tight parking lots, making it possible to maneuver finely without intercepting the steering wheel. This made it possible to guarantee precise handling and a high level of maneuverability. It was used before, but until 2010 it was only equipped with coupes and sedans.

Electronics were also installed to help start climbing the steep slope. The brake mechanisms deserve a separate discussion - they had an automatic cleaning function from moisture, the ingress of which is inevitable in wet weather. Thus, the system prepares for the start of emergency braking as soon as the driver suddenly takes his foot off the accelerator pedal. At the same time, in conditions of overheating of the brake mechanisms, the car automatically applies additional force during braking.

Restyling (2010-2013)

During the update, engineers tried to include almost all of their latest developments in the design of the BMW X5 (e70). The “AdaptiveDrive” technology, which was used on a crossover for the first time in the segment, caused a real sensation. It combines all the active chassis components into one complex - electronically controlled anti-roll bars and active shock absorbers with a function for changing stiffness.

This approach practically eliminated roll in corners and wave buildup, since the electronics constantly analyze the situation and level the body.

Interior

There have also been a lot of changes in the interior. The most important thing is that it has become much bigger! And the engineers managed to use this change wisely - the second row is much more spacious, in addition, it became possible to order a 3rd row of seats, although it is only suitable for children. However, such a move will turn the SUV into a family car.

The dashboard, the outline of the dashboard and the center console have changed. The seats are no less comfortable, but the ergonomics are thought out much better than its predecessor. All the keys and dial controls for controlling options are located much better, they are more convenient to use, and the box selector does not overlap them. The trunk is decent - from 620 to 1,750 liters of usable volume.

Options

It is worth noting that the crossover is fully equipped with electronics. There are 2 cameras - front and rear, supplemented by parking sensors. There is also a Head-Up display, with the function of projecting data directly onto the windshield. After restyling, the iDrive control system was improved, thanks to which you can use audio-video equipment, navigation and all electronic auxiliary systems.

An 8.8-inch display, DVD Entertainment, panoramic roof, 4-zone climate control, ventilated seats, and a heated steering wheel were available as options.

Good day to all. I would like to talk about a very controversial car - the BMW X5 in the back of the E70. I got a car, I knew it in general for a long time, but without details, since I drove a Merc. These cars are out of this world.

The first feeling is that it is tough, compared to the Merc. The steering wheel is tight like in a Zhiguli. The first week passed in getting used to the new type of driving, then it started. For some, the BMW X5 is a dream car, an ideal, a standard of what a real car should be.

Someone is afraid of such cars, the car is dangerous for everyone, they are afraid like fire, believing that the BMW will leave its owner without a penny of money. Some people consider X5 owners to be people from higher worlds who bought a car just to show off.

And the whole interior was covered in some kind of black lumps, this really embarrassed me. Yes. One thing is for sure - this car leaves no one indifferent. This is a car from another world. If anyone is interested, I will say that I have owned many cars, including many VAZ models and foreign cars, but we will talk specifically about BMWs.

BMW is not an easy car. About 5-6 years ago I owned a 3-series in the back of an E46 station wagon, with an M47N diesel engine. An excellent car with a good high-torque engine, a very ergonomic interior, comfortable sports seats, abs and dynamic stabilization systems and a bunch of other interesting things.

Rear-wheel drive and a sharp steering wheel made this car a pleasure to drive. It was as if you were bursting into space from another dimension. Very roomy trunk, the rear seats fold down into a flat floor. Good sound insulation, decent standard music. 6-speed manual, consumption in the city was 12-15 liters, on the highway 10, despite the fact that I never saved much.

It didn’t cause any problems, I stopped worrying, but the car seemed to take me out, although, of course, there were repairs, but nothing critical. I think that by the time I’m 50, I’ll get an apartment in Cyprus and hang out with men there and drink vodka... Since then, I’ve become a fan of the BMW brand and, in particular, their diesel engines.

After the E46 320d there were other cars, but I always wanted something powerful, tall, automatic and definitely diesel. A car from another reality. I began to choose the X3 E83, 3.0d with the M57T2 engine, I searched for a long time.

In our world there were no good options, I looked in other regions, and BMW fans from other cities helped carry out diagnostics. I haven't found a good X3. Then I decided to look at the X5 E70. For me, the X5 has always been a dream, a car of a different scale, an unattainable dream, I always wanted it. But, firstly, it is expensive, and secondly, the myths about the breakability of the X5, of course, stopped us. I started looking and choosing.

And finally I came across a good BMW X5 E70 with minor flaws in the suspension. One light in the trunk lid did not work (this is a disease of the E70 pre-restyling). Well, it’s not really a car, but a fairy tale, but we need to remember one detail... In general, I became the owner of an X5 E70 with an M57T2 engine with 235 hp.

Impression

The pneuma at the rear, by the way, plays a role only as a ride height regulator, that is, you can load as much as you want into the trunk and the car will still stand as if without a load.

I love my car very much... There is also an X5 with active suspension and active stabilizers, with them, they say, the suspension is much more interesting. I haven’t ridden one myself, so I won’t say anything.

But the suspension is ordinary - terribly stupid. Tough, but at the same time refined handling, like on a troika, is not at all a trace here. Of the global shortcomings, perhaps, that’s all. Although no, not all.

The next drawback, which apparently follows from the first, is the creaky and rattling interior. By the way, I am a driver with extensive experience... Honestly, I was taken aback at first. This is the X5, a car clearly from other worlds, the flagship of the BMW crossover family, which costs like something more.

The car is formidable, people are afraid of it. There are quite a lot of joints of dissimilar materials in the cabin - different plastics, leather, things from another dimension that frighten ordinary citizens who squeak among themselves.

To be fair, it should be noted that 90% of the noises and squeaks came from the trunk, and when I, having read the Internet, manipulated the tailgate hinges and the rear seat brackets, most of the squeaks went away. But the sediment remained. BMWs are complex cars, incredibly thin... Perhaps that's all there is to the disadvantages.

Pleasant. The active steering rack is a super thing! Clearly created by people from another world. It's a pleasure to turn and maneuver. Less than two turns from lock to lock. The engine + gearbox combination is a fairy tale. There is always enough power in all modes: city, highway - it doesn’t matter. There is a small turbo lag at the bottom, but not critical.

The M57T2 engine is the final generation of M-series diesel engines. The engine is excellent, reliable, devoid of any childhood diseases, unlike BMW gasoline or N-series diesel engines.

ZF gearbox, 6 speeds, there were no problems with it, everything is fine. And sometimes the smell in the cabin is like a village toilet... The xDrive all-wheel drive also showed its good side. Its operation is invisible, you just drive in any weather conditions - that’s all. I’m from a village myself, excuse me, that’s why I immediately associate it with a rural toilet...

Snow on the road or ice - it doesn't matter. This car is stronger than you. I pressed the pedal and drove away while the monodrive was trying to move off. Of course, the X5 is not an SUV; all-wheel drive is here only for confident driving in any road conditions; it’s better not to go off-road.

I’m a normal guy... Although I went fishing along the gullies, I followed the Niva and Duster everywhere, but still the X5 has decent overhangs, and the dimensions are rather large. Among other nice options, I had: bi-xenon with automatic high beam, it works quite correctly, but it doesn’t see the dim dimensions of the car in front.

HI-FI music with 12 speakers, including subwoofers under the front seats, electric trunk, front-rear parking sensors + rear view camera, climate comfort windshield, heated steering wheel. And diesel is more interesting than gasoline for me.

In general, the equipment is, of course, far from complete, but not empty either. Yes, but the car is interesting on the road. The only thing I would like is comfort seats with unbreakable backrests. But I had regular seats with electric drive and memory + lumbar support, which were also very comfortable.

Now about operation. I will say this: if you want to own a BMW, then learn to understand it yourself. I kept dreaming of buying thieves' license plates, but the toad was choking me. You must be and understand other worlds, otherwise after a while you will also say that BMW is a piece of crap, give a lot of money to services that will scam you, but there will be no sense in it.

I’ve been on BMW for a long time, since the first E46, collecting information, reading, trying to do something, because it’s interesting to me. I serviced my BMWs myself, again, because it’s interesting to me.

The dirtiest work, or if I didn’t want to tinker, I took it to a trusted service, but, again, always knowing what exactly I needed to change and what was needed for this. I always changed the oil and filters myself, it’s easier there than on Zhiguli cars. The only thing is that replacing the air filter on the M57T2 engine requires a little skill.

In terms of maintenance costs, what was changed in just over a year: after the purchase - a complete oil change in the automatic transmission, with replacement of the pan, sealing sleeve and mechatronics glasses, the pan was exclusively original or ZF (which, in fact, is also original) - the work came out to about 15-17 tr, the front lower control arms are the weakest point in the suspension, I took TRW (they are delivered on the conveyor) - 10 tr. pair.

Lantern in the trunk lid (they leak on pre-Restyle cars) - 3.5 thousand rubles. Magnetti Marelli (also, essentially, an original). Then I changed the thermostats (main and EGR) - 3 tr. for both (original) + 2 or 3 tr. replacement. I changed one front hub, it was my own fault - I drove with an imbalance on the wheel. That's it, nothing else seems to have changed. Only oil and filters, pads.

I drove about 30,000 km in just over a year. Total mileage at the time of sale is 184,000 km. And, I will say this, for this car such mileage is nonsense. How the car was maintained and operated is very important. Initially, you need to do a thorough diagnosis and not buy a used car, even if it’s a little cheaper - it will backfire.

About diesel. In cold weather it started, in -27-29 it started. It will start even at -35, the main thing is that the glow plugs are in good working order, the glow block is in good condition and there is good diesel fuel in it. The X5 also has a very clever battery charging system. If an AGM battery is installed, then it is not fully charged, maximum 80%, this is the charging strategy.

On short trips it generally runs out of charge even in -30 degrees Celsius. With a 50% battery charge, you won’t start; the electronics simply won’t let you turn the starter, since the X5 is a very energy-intensive car. It is necessary to register the KVNK short trip profile in the vehicle FA. In the cold my car started at 1.5 - 2 revolutions, the main thing is to give it these two revolutions.

A very interesting topic is BMW coding. Many parameters can be configured. There is a sea of information on the Internet. There is not so much detailed information on any car. Take it, figure it out and do it! In general, we can talk about BMW for a long time.

Bottom line

Let me make a small conclusion. The BMW X5 E70 undoubtedly scares everyone and gives no one peace of mind, a car from other worlds... Excellent aggressive design, good driving characteristics, the best (in my opinion) diesel engines. A very roomy and functional, comfortable, powerful car. With proper care, this is a very reliable car, I have never stopped anywhere, all repairs are planned. Among the shortcomings, I’ll note the dull, stiff suspension, which sometimes really infuriated us on our roads; creaky interior (again, on bad roads). The rest of the car is perfect. Would I buy a car like this again? Perhaps yes, subject to thorough diagnostics and, most likely, with Dynamic Drive suspension and comfortable saddles. But first, I would like to take the Tuareg for a ride on air and compare.

In 2004, the production of the restyled BMW X5 began, during which the popular SUV underwent plastic surgery and a number of improvements. In 2006, production of the second generation BMW X5 with the E70 body began. Therefore in history tuning BMW X5 three eras: pre-restyling, restyling and neo-restyling. The new generation has become wider (6 cm) and longer (16.5 cm) than its predecessors. The characteristic features of the modernized version are a more expressive hood, gradually turning into a radiator grille, which in its shape also differs from that used on the previous model. Attention is drawn to the headlights of the original shape, which gives the car a very insightful and irresistible look. BMW X5 E70 This is a premium SUV that is the most luxurious, the most comfortable and the fastest. The interior of the car is impressive with its huge size and excellent ergonomics inherent in luxury cars. The manufacturer offers five interior trim levels and six trim options using leather and natural wood inserts.

The BMW X5 is equipped with an all-aluminum 4.4-liter V8 engine producing 286 hp. The engine is capable of accelerating the car to a speed of 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds. Thanks to the proprietary Double Vanos variable valve timing system, the engine operates with maximum efficiency throughout almost the entire speed range. The engine is paired with a hydromechanical 5-speed Steptronic transmission.

The xDrive all-wheel drive system constantly analyzes the road situation and driving mode, and, if necessary, dynamically redistributes engine torque between the axles. BMW specialists also paid great attention to the operation of the electronically controlled multi-plate clutch, which ensures a quick response to changing road conditions. The car is equipped with the latest AdaptiveDrive system. Using numerous sensors, AdaptiveDrive constantly analyzes many indicators: driving speed, roll angles, body and wheel acceleration, body height position. X5 brakes - automatically clear of moisture in wet weather, preparing for emergency braking when you suddenly remove your foot from the gas pedal. When the brake system overheats, the electronics apply additional force to the pads.

With the advent of the second generation BMW X5 E70, a wave of bright tuning projects based on the X5 poured in. The brightest examples tuning BMW X5- This BMW X5 Flash from Hamann, G-Power Typhoon, X5 Falcone from AC Schnitzer, Hartge Hunter. Moreover BMW X5 tuning concerned not only aerodynamics and appearance, but also engine compartment units. So the G-Power mechanics pumped out a 4.8 liter V8 engine with 170 hp. more than the serial version. Body kits for the BMW X5 are aimed at emphasizing sportiness: huge air intakes on the front bumper, ventilation shafts for cooling the brake pads, a predatory look. The design is dominated by an x-shape formed by the lines of the hood relief and the vertical pillars of the front bumper. Completing the sporty look are huge sports wheels with thin tires.

The second generation BMW X5 crossover in the E70 body has been produced since 2006. The car replaced the first generation model E53, and four years after the start of production, the time came for a planned restyling. The updated car debuted at the 2010 New York Auto Show.

Externally, the restyled BMW X5 E70 is not much different from the pre-reform car: slightly modified bumpers, new rear lights, retouched front optics, a different wheel design - these are all the main changes to the new product.
