What is the consumption for Ford Focus 2 1.6. Fuel consumption of Ford Focuses. Ford Focus - technical specifications

Ford's compact car hardly needs any introduction. One of the best-selling brands in Europe on the domestic car market found its fans back in 1999. Over half a million models were sold then. The model range has gone through 3 restylings over the years and is represented by three generations of cars with different versions of installed engines.

2nd generation Ford Focus 1.4 R4 16V 80 hp

Features of the package

In Russia, only 6 versions of engines of the second generation Ford Focus cars received the widest popularity. The first of these is a four-cylinder 1.4-liter engine with a 5-speed manual transmission. The maximum speed of 164 km per hour is reached in 14 seconds with a power of 80 hp. The declared gasoline consumption in the city is 8.7 liters, on the highway - almost 5.5 liters.

Gasoline consumption

  • Daniil, Moscow. I took a 2006 model for taxi work about six months ago. I don’t experience any problems, although the mileage on it has already been 100 thousand. An excellent workhorse with a moderate appetite for gasoline - no more than 9 liters in the city, taking into account traffic jams.
  • Andrey, Kyiv. After VAZ and Volga, I think it’s clear who wins. The injection engine works without any complaints. The first foreign car was a good experience - it never fails. 8 liters is enough for 100 km; I don’t drive at maximum speed.
  • Zoya, Kharkov. Our Ford is used only for trips outside the city, so its consumption is relatively small - about 5 liters. The 2009 model has already driven about 300 thousand, which is quite a lot for such a price.
  • Mikhail, Nizhny Novgorod. Where do people get this kind of expense? My monster under the hood eats up all 10.5-11.0 liters. Can air conditioning alone have such an effect on gluttony?
  • Denis, Irkutsk. I myself work at a service station, so I never have any problems with these Fords. I bought myself a used car from 2008. The only and huge minus is the weak but trouble-free engine, which gets around ten in the city.

2nd generation Ford Focus 1.6 R4 16V 100 hp MT+AT

Technical data

The 1.6-litre petrol engine is available with either an automatic or manual transmission. The difference lies in different maximum speeds (172 km per hour and 180 km per hour, respectively) with the same engine power of 100 hp, as well as different fuel consumption. In the city, the unit with MT burns 8.7 liters (automatic - 10.4), and on the highway - 5.5 liters (5.9 on AT).

Reviews from motorists about consumption

  • Evgeniy, Barnaul. I received a 2010 model with automatic transmission as a gift. I've already driven 47 thousand kilometers on it and I still don't regret the purchase. Reliability and convenience won us over, consumption in the city was 10 liters, on the highway there was no less than 5.
  • Nikolai, Zhimki. Inherited from my father a 2011 Restyle. A beautiful car with good data on a manual transmission. My wife and I still ride to this day. We have never come for serious maintenance, although the spare parts are not that expensive. Gasoline consumption is around 9 liters without air conditioning.
  • Antonina, Murmansk. The 2006 car was purchased 2 years ago. My husband went, now I do. What can I say, I would like something newer, but this is more a matter of taste. I fill up often, outside the city it takes about 6 liters.
  • Eduard, Moscow. I won’t buy it with an automatic transmission again - I fell for my wife’s persuasion. And so there are no questions at all for Ford; in 3 years there were only 4 maintenances. There could be less gasoline in the city - cars with more power also burn under 10.
  • Sergey, Tula. We bought the car for work. My father and I take turns taking taxis; the car is durable and has seen a lot. But so far I’m happy with everything – the budget Ford can withstand everything. A little gluttonous, but what can you do?

2nd generation Ford Focus 1.6 R4 16V Ti-VCT 115 hp

Data from the automaker

The gasoline engine with a manual transmission is the most complex engine in the second generation Ford Focus. The maximum speed of the car in this configuration is 193 km per hour with a power of 115 hp. achieved in 11 seconds. Fuel consumption within the city is 8.7 liters, and on the highway it fluctuates around 5 liters.

Owner reviews

  • Zakhar, Tambov. My wife and I bought a 2008 sedan on the cheap. Mileage 28 thousand, was repaired once. A powerful machine for the middle class, and the consumption is normal. If only she had an automatic transmission, it would be great.
  • Bogdan, Grozny. I got a Spanish assembly from 2008, I bought it for work - I need to travel a lot from city to city. On the highway it eats the required 5 liters, sometimes more, sometimes less - depending on the speed and air conditioning.
  • Alexey, Seversk. Please advise what to do - my consumption is about 10 liters all the time. A friend has the same FF2, but his is 9.0-9.5 at most. I don't want to sell the car because of this.
  • Svetlana, Odintsovo. We brought in a 2011 hatchback. The engine is good, not noisy. The only thing my husband always says is that he should have taken a 2-liter one, but this is not so important. I can’t say anything special about fuel consumption - I don’t pay attention to such little things.
  • Anatoly, Lyubertsy. Quite a powerful unit for its price. There haven’t been any serious breakdowns yet, although I’ve driven about 50 thousand. We’ll see how it goes. And the consumption strictly according to the passport is 8.5 liters in the city.

2nd generation Ford Focus 1.8 R4 Duratec-HE 16V 125 hp

About the engine

125 hp unit accelerates cars of this configuration to 193 km per hour in 10.5 seconds. The 4-cylinder petrol engine is paired only with a manual gearbox. It was equipped with the second generation model range and its subsequent restyling. Gasoline consumption on the highway is 5.6 liters, and on city roads - slightly less than 10 liters.

Real indicators

  • Nikita, Vologda. I bought a 2007 model of Vsevolozhsk assembly from the previous owner. Ford is Ford and will always be Ford – the best car in my opinion. A good engine allows you to drive on the track. Consumption in winter is 10 liters, in summer – one liter less.
  • Alexander, Murmansk. My dad gave me a 2009 Restyle with 13,000 miles. Great fast car. In the city it’s 11 liters with traffic jams and air conditioning, on the highway it’s 9 liters.
  • Vladimir, Krasnodar. An inexpensive car for family trips out of town - that’s the purpose for which they dug it. But now my wife and I take turns going wherever possible. There are no obvious disadvantages, in the city it consumes exactly 10 liters, on the highway - about 8.5.
  • Yuri, Tyumen. I bought it 3 years ago and am already selling it. Firstly, the engine is noisy, and secondly, there is not enough power. I skated 380 thousand - it’s time to update the garage. Consumption has always been within 11 liters per hundred.
  • Stanislav, Khabarovsk. My advice - just buy new! A year after the purchase, problems began with the suspension and transmission. At first I ate 9 liters, then all 11 without air conditioning.

2nd generation Ford Focus 2.0 R4 16V 145 hp

Motor characteristics

This version of the gasoline engine can be seen under the hood of the second-generation Focus model range, as well as in second-generation models after restyling. The engine works in tandem with a manual or automatic transmission and accelerates the car to 195 km per hour (210 km per hour on the sedan). Power – 145 hp Fuel consumption in the city: 8.7 l with MT and 11.2 l with AT, on the highway 5.4 l with MT and 6.1 l with AT.

Owner reviews

  • Victor, Moscow. In a nutshell – the car is super. Model 2007 with automatic transmission. Beautiful, fast and nimble. In winter in the city it consumes 13 liters, and on the highway in summer up to 8 liters of gasoline.
  • Lena, St. Petersburg. Who is looking for an acceptable balance between comfort, quality and price - buy this FF3. I’ve been working with mechanics for 4 years now and no “tricks” yet. Consumption in the city is 9 liters without air conditioner.
  • Marina, Kharkov. My husband took it for a ride in the evenings, he was very pleased and now he has a new job. According to him, the consumption is 10 liters with plugs. And the car is very good, sometimes my husband even lets me drive.
  • Danila, Chelyabinsk. They gave us a restyled version of 2008 – a sedan with a manual transmission. I got into a serious accident, but the safety system saved both me and the passenger. This is the safest car. Consumption on the highway is about 6 liters on average.
  • Prokhor, Lipetsk. I work as a driver in this car - everything is fine, it runs smoothly, the automatic transmission is very convenient. I didn’t pay attention to fuel consumption - it’s not me who pays for gasoline.

Ford Focus 1.8 R4 Duratorq 16V 115 hp diesel

Fuel consumption per 100 km

A turbodiesel 8-valve engine with a common fuel rail is installed in cars paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The maximum speed of the car is 190 km per hour with a power of 115 hp. Diesel fuel consumption in the city is 6.8 liters, on the highway – 4.4 liters.

Gasoline consumption

  • Denis, Kursk. A high-torque engine that is in no way inferior to its gasoline counterparts, especially in winter. Consumption on average is 5.5 liters in the combined cycle. Quite economical car.
  • Vadim, Vladivostok. We took it as a family car. There have been no problems so far - the main thing is to refuel with normal high-quality diesel fuel. It was for the latter reason that I ended up at the MOT for the first time. Consumption on the highway is 4.5 liters.
  • Innokenty, Moscow. I've been driving it for 2 years now, but I still haven't been able to get used to the vibrations and noise while the engine is warming up. This is its main disadvantage. Regarding consumption - 6.5 liters in the city saves a lot of money.
  • Igor, Rostov-on-Don. I wanted to take a gasoline one, but the choice fell on the diesel FF. And for good reason - low consumption and good power are the main advantages of this machine.

3rd generation Ford Focus 1.6 MT 85 hp

Information from the manufacturer

This gasoline engine was installed on cars with basic equipment. Works in tandem with a manual transmission. The stated top speed of 187 km per hour is reached in 12.3 seconds. Motor power – 85 hp. Fuel consumption on the highway is 4.8 liters, in the city – at 8.1 liters.

Owner reviews

  • Stepan, Kaliningrad. I took the basic package and I couldn’t be happier – although the car is not particularly powerful, its handling and reliability won me over. Consumption in the city is no more than 9 liters with Conder.
  • Victoria, Vologda. Gave it to my husband for his birthday. In my opinion, it is a little noisy, so they installed sound insulation on the hood. Now I'm enjoying it. I fill up often because I travel a lot. Gasoline consumes around 8.5 liters.
  • Andrey, Moscow. I purchased a 2012 model from a dealer. What can I say - for a taxi it’s just right - the consumption is average, but the power is not at all like 85 horses, more like 105. In the city it consumes at least 9 liters, and outside the city - much less.
  • Victor, St. Petersburg. Bought 2012 and sold it a year later - Ford is not my thing, now I drive a Toyota. The only thing I liked about the Ford was excellent gas mileage, but I just didn’t like the exterior or interior, I don’t know why I bought it.
  • Alexander, Suzdal. I bought it and after 2 weeks for maintenance - the reverse gear does not work. I took it for trips out of town, it was spent around 4.5 liters, which is not that much. I have already driven 30 thousand kilometers, but there have been no more breakdowns.

3rd generation Ford Focus 1.6 MT+AT 105 hp.

Engine characteristics

This petrol unit is paired with both manual and automatic transmissions. Maximum speed of 187 km per hour with a power of 105 hp. achieved in 12.3 seconds. Fuel consumption is declared by the automaker at the level of 8.0-8.5 liters in the city and 4.7 liters on the highway. In mixed mode, gasoline consumption is 5.9 liters.

Real gas consumption

  • Anna, Petrozavodsk. Previously there was a Nissan Almera, now a Ford. What can I say - it’s an ordinary workhorse, which is exactly what I bought it for. I haven’t been to a service station yet; the first six months passed without any breakdowns. Gasoline on the highway consumes 4.5 liters. I thought there would be more.
  • Pavel, Voronezh. My wife and I decided to buy it after the wedding. An ordinary nice car for family driving. The only thing is that we eat a lot, about 10 liters without air conditioning. This is more compared to reviews from other owners and official information.
  • Bogdan, Belgorod. I got a manual Ford from my brother (he bought himself a Mazda). I liked the smoothness of gear shifting, stylish design and efficiency. I don’t fill up often, but the consumption of 8 liters in the city is quite satisfactory.
  • Vladimir, Alushta. I have a 2011 model, it has already been repaired twice. I will say one thing - repairing the focus has become very expensive today, so I decided to sell it. Gasoline consumption in mixed mode is 6.5 liters, but I really drive everywhere.
  • Ilya, Pskov. My father gave me a 2012 model for my birthday. I never thought that driving a car on the road could be so easy. I have an automatic transmission, consumption on the highway is 5 liters maximum with air conditioning, I rarely drive in the city.

3rd generation Ford Focus 1.6 MT+AT 125 hp

Fuel consumption rate per 100 km

Cars equipped with this gasoline engine can reach speeds of up to 198 km per hour with a power of 125 hp. Acceleration to 100 km is possible in 11 seconds. The manufacturing plant offers configurations with a manual or automatic transmission. Fuel consumption is set at 8 liters in urban conditions and 4.8 liters on the highway.

Most likely, the Ford Focus is the most popular car not only in our country, but throughout the world. The model has been produced since 1998 in sedan, hatchback and station wagon bodies. Also, a huge variety of different motors are installed on it, so everyone can choose what they see fit. Now the third generation of the car is being produced, and before that, restylings of previous versions were also produced.

Focus 1

The 1st generation Ford Focus came with four gasoline engines and one diesel engine. The first to open the line was a 1.4 liter engine. It could produce 74 horsepower. Fuel consumption per 100 km was 6.7 liters. The next power plant is 1.6 liters, which could already produce 100 hp. This configuration had much better dynamic performance, and its gasoline consumption was only 6.9 liters.

Next came the configuration with a 1.8 liter engine. Here the peak power was 115 horsepower. Here the consumption has increased to 7.7 liters. Well, a 2-liter engine completes the line. With a power of 130 horsepower, it had increased consumption, which according to the passport was as much as 8.7 liters. Absolutely all engines were injection-based and had 16 valves.

The buyer everywhere could choose one of two possible transmissions: an automatic, which had four steps, or a five-speed manual.
There was only one diesel engine - 1.8 liters, but it could produce different power, which depended on some modifications. The figures were as follows: 75 hp, 90 hp. and 116 hp This engine in all versions was also injection, however, there were already eight valves. Both transmissions are also present. Fuel consumption varied from 5.2 liters to 5.6 liters.

“When I urgently needed a car, I had a choice - an old foreign car or something from our automobile industry. I chose the first generation Ford Focus because I don’t trust Ladas at all. The car is not bad at all even for our time. The interior is spacious and comfortable, with everything needed to provide maximum comfort to the driver. The build quality is also immediately noticeable. The car is 15 years old and is in almost perfect condition. Of course, it couldn’t be done without proper care of the car, but not everyone can live that long even with excellent care. The engine is powerful, shows good acceleration, and doesn’t consume much fuel. My average consumption is about 10 liters,” wrote Denis from Petrozavodsk.

“For trips to the country, I bought myself a restyled first-generation Focus station wagon. The first year I drove great, I had no troubles at all. But a little later the car began to break down quite often, always in completely different places. I've already spent a lot of money on repairs. It seems to me that you could have already bought another car. It’s a shame that this happened, because I really liked the model, especially the interior. It is very convenient and comfortable here, and there is enough space for any cargo. I think I’ll sell my car, save up a little and buy a Focus from the new generations. I read reviews that there are fewer problems with them. As for consumption, I spent only 9 liters,” writes Nikolai from Penza.

Focus 2

In 2004, the 2nd generation Focus began production. In addition to the design, there were changes to the engines. They remained the same in volume, but acquired several versions. Also, the diesel range has expanded to three representatives. In 2008, the model underwent restyling, but nothing was changed except the appearance.
The 1.4-liter gasoline engine's power was increased to 80 horsepower. It is now paired only with a manual transmission, which has five operating modes. Consumption has decreased slightly - now it is 6.5 liters. The engine, whose volume is 1.6 liters, has two options: 100 hp. and 115 hp In the first case, it comes with a four-speed automatic transmission, and in the second, with a five-speed manual. The consumption is also different. For the first option it reaches 7.4 liters, however, for the second it is only 6.7 liters.

The 1.8-liter unit has 125 horsepower, and just like the first engine, it comes only with a manual transmission. It consumes up to 7.1 liters of fuel. The lineup is completed, as usual, by a two-liter engine. Its power is the same for both automatic and manual and equals 145 horsepower. But consumption varies from 7.2 to 8.1 liters.

All of these engines, except the first one, also have diesel versions. The first produces power of 90 or 109 horsepower and consumes from 4.4 to 4.7 liters of fuel. The power of the next one is 116 hp, and the consumption is 5.4 liters. The top of the range is a two-liter unit with a capacity of 136 horsepower. It consumed up to 5.7 liters of diesel. All units came only with a manual transmission.

“The car is definitely worth the money. I took it after using a BMW, which I bought out of stupidity. Yes, Focus is not so powerful, but it does not break. The interior is quite tolerable; for the average user you couldn’t imagine anything better. The car drives excellent both in the city and on the highway. It also handles well and holds the road. A huge number of built-in technologies help with this. What I like is the fuel consumption, which does not exceed 8 liters,” wrote Konstantin from Ufa.

“I bought the car from an ad and stupidly looked for something that was in good condition. I came across an advertisement for the sale of Focus 2. I always liked it, so I went to look at it. Over several years of use, the car has not lost a single percent of its condition. It also drives and steers great, but the most obvious advantage for me is the consumption indicator. My norm is 7 liters,” these are the words of Kirill from Chelyabinsk.

“I drove the car from Germany, testing it in various conditions along the way. Everything went perfectly, so I didn’t doubt my choice at all. There is absolutely nothing better on the track. Very comfortable and convenient to ride. At the same time, the car also consumes fuel to a minimum. It turns out no more than 7 liters,” wrote Oleg from Moscow.

Focus 3

In 2010, production of the 3rd generation Focus was launched. Still, a lot of attention is paid to the appearance, and after restyling in 2014 it became truly stylish and even sporty. As for the technical part, the car has acquired new versions of engines, as well as a new transmission.

The youngest representative of the gasoline range is now a liter engine with 100 or 125 horsepower. Paired with a manual transmission, which has now become a six-speed, it consumes only 5 liters of fuel. Also new is a one and a half liter unit. Its power is 150 or 182 horsepower. It could be equipped with both an automatic and a manual, which are also six-speed. Fuel consumption here is already 6.1 liters.

The 1.6-liter engine has three configurations: 85 hp, which comes only with a manual transmission, 105 hp. on all transmissions and 125 hp, also with two transmission options. The consumption rate varies from 5.9 to 6.4 liters. The series is also completed by a two-liter engine with a constant power of 150 hp. It is equipped only with a manual transmission, and consumes up to 6.8 liters of gasoline.

Again, all of these engines, except the first one, could be diesel. The one and a half liter configuration has 95 or 120 horses, comes with two types of transmission, and consumes from 3.8 to 4.1 liters of fuel. The 1.6 engine has powers of 95 and 115 hp. It is only matched by a manual transmission, but it already consumes up to 4.6 liters of diesel. The two-liter engine has the same power as the gasoline version, but can also be equipped with an automatic transmission. Here the consumption rate varies from 4.1 to 4.9 liters.

“I took New Focus because of the design. He's very stylish. As it turns out, the car itself is not bad either. I like the way she drives, and my wife only says positive words about her. But what impresses us most is the consumption figure. There are few places where you can find a value of 6 liters,” wrote Roman from Yekaterinburg.

“The car was given as a wedding gift. It was love at first sight, and I’m not talking about my wife now. Looking at its appearance, one can forgive any mistakes in technology, which, as it turns out, are not even there. All in all, a dream car for those who want a simple car for everyday use. The icing on the cake is the expense, which is strictly passport,” writes Grigory from St. Petersburg.

“I finally waited for the release of the Focus restyling. I'm already tired of driving my junk. I bought a new product and forgot about all the problems. I drive every day and enjoy the comfort and silence in the cabin. Thanks to the powerful engine, you can also enjoy acceleration, especially on the highway. I was surprised by the fuel consumption. The engine consumes no more than 6 liters,” wrote Stanislav from Krasnodar.

First appearing on the market in 1999, the Ford Focus has won an army of fans all over the world. This car is versatile, offered in several body styles, reliable and comfortable. But the wealth of configurations and a wide range of engines have led to the fact that the Ford Focus of various modifications and generations has significantly different fuel consumption per 100 km.

Ford Focus - technical specifications

The first generation of this car was offered from 1999 to 2005, during which time the 2001 restyling was carried out, the aerodynamics of the car changed, and a new diesel engine was proposed.

A distinctive feature of the second version is the new engines of the Duratec and Duratorq families, working with new transmissions, which have reduced the fuel consumption of the Ford Focus, while maintaining high power levels and dynamic characteristics.

The third generation Focus, created on a single platform from the manufacturer, is equipped with updated engines. They provide fuel savings, while the engine works equally well on both AI-92 and AI-95. The 2014 restyling affected not only the appearance of the car; new power units were proposed that improved the dynamic characteristics of the car with reduced gasoline consumption.

Second generation

The redesigned second generation based on the latest C1 platform appeared in 2004. After restyling in 2008, the appearance of the car improved, its technical characteristics remained the same.

Ford Focus 1.4 r4 16v

It is the second generation Ford Focus with a 1.4 liter 16v four-cylinder petrol engine producing 80 hp. With. has become popular all over the world. This naturally aspirated Duratec engine develops a torque of 123 Nm. It was equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission. At the same time, fuel consumption on this modification of the Ford Focus is modest; on the highway it consumed only 5.4 liters per 100 km; in urban mode, this figure increased to 8.7 liters; in the combined cycle, gasoline consumption is 6.6 liters.

Ford Focus 2.0 r4 16v

The Ford Focus 2 modification with a two-liter gasoline engine is the most powerful of its kind, developing 145 horsepower. Duratec HE technology made it possible to offer other versions, derated to 130 and 137 hp. After 2008, it was decided to leave only the option with 145 power, with a torque of 185 Nm, with a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic. Fuel consumption averages 7.1 l/100 km, on the highway this figure is 5.4 l, and in urban mode 9.8 l. For versions with automatic transmission, consumption increases on average by 0.5 liters of gasoline.

Ford Focus 1.6 r4 16v

An intermediate option between the basic and the most dynamic engine was the Ford Focus Mk 2 with two types of 1.6 liter gasoline engines. 100 hp version offered acceptable dynamics with consumption of 8.7 liters per 100 km in city mode, on the highway consumption was 5.5 liters, and in the combined cycle 6.7 liters. The option with automatic transmission turned out to be not so successful; its consumption is, respectively, 10.6/6/7.7 liters per 100 km.

Version with a 1.6 Ti-VCT engine with a power of 115 hp. It was equipped only with a 5-speed manual transmission. This made it possible to improve dynamic characteristics with lower fuel consumption; in city/highway/combined cycle mode it consumes 8.7/5.1/6.4 liters per 100 km.

Ford Focus 1 8 r4 Duratec HE 16v

One of the popular modifications of the second generation was the Ford Focus with a 1.8 Duratec HE engine producing 125 hp. with a 5-speed manual transmission. He accelerated the car to 100 km/h in 10 seconds, this is a good indicator. At the same time, consumption remained within acceptable limits and amounted to 7 l/100 km in the combined cycle; on a country road this figure is 5.6 l, and in traffic it comes out to about 9 liters.

Ford Focus 1.8 r4 16v

The Focus turned out to be very popular with a 1.8 liter Duratorq TDCi diesel engine, 116 horsepower, 5-speed manual transmission. With a torque of 280 Nm. it accelerates the car to 100 km/h in just 10.8 seconds. The fuel consumption of the diesel Ford Focus with this power unit is 6.7 liters in city mode, 4.3 liters on the highway and 5.2 liters for the combined cycle per 100 km.

Third generation

Ford Focus 3 appeared in 2011 and comes with a 1.6 liter engine, available in several versions and a top-end 2 liter petrol version. Diesel power units are not officially supplied to domestic dealers, and therefore are not widely used.

3rd generation Ford Focus 1.6 MT 85 hp

This power unit, installed on the Focus, has a high level of reliability, but does not develop the required traction. Its consumption is 4.8 liters on the highway and 8.1 liters in city mode, on average it takes 6 liters per 100 km. Such efficiency has become the reason for the popularity of this version of the car in the budget segment.

3rd generation Ford Focus 1.6 105 hp.

Option Duratec Ti-VCT boosted to 105 hp. appears to be the optimal package. This 1.6-liter engine is dynamic, quite reliable and economical. The fuel consumption standards for the Ford Focus of this version for the station wagon and generation 3 sedan are only 4.8 liters on the highway, in city traffic 8.1 liters with an average consumption of 6 liters per 100 km. For lighter hatchbacks, consumption decreases by 0.1 liters in each mode. When working with an automatic transmission, gasoline consumption increases, especially in the city, where it is 9.3 liters.

3rd generation Ford Focus 1.6 125 hp.

This is the most powerful version of the 1.6 liter Duratec Ti-VCT, producing 125 horsepower and 160 Nm of torque. It is installed together with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. With high dynamic performance, this version of the Ford Focus has fuel consumption at the same level as the less powerful 105-horsepower version. In city/highway/combined mode it is 8.1/4.8/6 liters per 100 km. The automatic transmission adds about 0.4 liters to this power unit for each indicator.

3rd generation Ford Focus 2.0 150 hp.

The two-liter engine develops power up to 150 hp, providing the best dynamics and accelerating the car to hundreds in just 9.3 seconds, which is an excellent indicator. This Focus configuration has increased fuel consumption, but not critical - in the city it consumes 9.6 liters per 100 km, in mixed mode 6.7 liters, on a clean road 5 liters for cars equipped with a manual transmission. With this engine, the version with automatic transmission consumes on average 0.3 liters of fuel less than with a manual transmission.

Reasons for increased fuel consumption

Many owners believe that the Ford Focus 2 has high fuel consumption, which reduces the value of the car in their eyes. But this question requires additional explanation. The car is quite heavy, and despite the fact that the engines themselves do not consume much fuel, in city traffic you have to press the gas pedal often. But on the highway this problem is practically not felt, hence the big difference in gasoline consumption in different modes. Later this problem was partially solved.

Another problem of the second generation is the automatic transmission. Initially it was a 4-speed transmission, durable and reliable, but it was this that made the car increase its appetite. While on the mechanics, consumption remained within its class.

Increased consumption is influenced by several other factors, including:

  • driving style, the more aggressive it is, the higher the consumption;
  • air temperature – in winter the car takes more, on average by 1 liter;
  • technical condition of the car.

Today, the Ford Focus 3 is one of the most popular compact cars. Production of the third generation of the model began in 2010, and the presentation of the new product took place during the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The new Ford Focus has received an improved safety system and an improved transmission. The manufacturer has also equipped the car with additional options that facilitate comfortable movement of the driver and passengers. The car has established itself as an ideal vehicle for daily trips, but what is the fuel consumption of the Ford Focus 3?

Ford Focus 3 fuel consumption certified by the manufacturer

In the Focus 3 engine line, the most common are 1.6 and 2.0-liter power units. The first is equipped with basic configurations, but the more powerful 2.0 engine is installed on top-end assemblies. The 1.6-liter engine has a power of 105 horsepower, and the speed of a car with such an engine can reach 190 km/h. The two-liter analogue has superior power – 150 horsepower, which allows the vehicle to accelerate to 210 km/h. The manufacturer has established the following fuel consumption per 100 km, which is considered the norm:

  • For a 1.6-liter engine – 8/5 l city/highway;
  • For a 2.0-liter engine – 9.5/5.5 l city/highway.

Both engines work together with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission, which was developed specifically for naturally aspirated Duratec Ti-VCT. Do the figures indicated in the passport correspond to the actual consumption of a Ford Focus 3?

Fuel consumption with a 1.6 engine according to owner reviews

Car sales are steadily growing, but numerous reviews from car owners indicate that the Ford Focus 3 still has minor shortcomings. One of these is the lack of power, which is especially noticeable on the 1.6-liter diesel version. The standard engine is not particularly dynamic, but in most cases it has adequate gasoline consumption:

  1. Alexey, Penza. My car is practically new, during the run-in there was an increase in consumption, after a while the gasoline consumption began to fall. Today, in my Ford Focus 1.6 with a manual transmission, I get 8 liters in the city and 5.3 liters on the highway;
  2. Maxim, Tula. I drove one for a long time, but with the release of the third generation Focus I decided to buy it. I didn’t feel any difference in dynamics, both cars are good, but I like to drive a Ford every day around the city;
  3. Evgeniy, Moscow. I've been driving a Ford Focus III since the car's hatchback appearance. I liked the appearance of the car, and its characteristics are tempting, however, in reality the power is still not enough. The only thing that pleases is the optimal gasoline consumption, which corresponds to the norm: 8.2 liters in the city according to the on-board computer in the summer, in winter up to 8.5 liters per 100 km;
  4. Maxim, Voronezh. For a big city, Focus is the best option. The car is comfortable, fast, maneuverable. I expected much more “appetite”, but Ford is distinguished by its unpretentiousness and moderate gasoline consumption. According to the on-board computer, in the city it is rarely 8 liters per hundred, on the highway it is 5.2 liters at a speed of 120 km/h.

The 1.6-liter engine is popular and in demand, despite its not the highest dynamic characteristics. Reviews from car owners indicate that the car consumes gasoline in the amount indicated in the passport data.

What is the gasoline consumption of a car with a 2.0 liter engine?

The two-liter engine in the Ford Focus 3 line of power units has a long service life. A timing chain is used as a timing drive, which is capable of operating without failure for 200-250 thousand kilometers. Most owners complain about thermostat seals, which often quickly fail. As for the gasoline consumption of this version of the car, the owners leave the following data:

  1. Andrey, Rostov. Before the release of the third generation, I drove a Ford Focus 2 with an automatic transmission. As soon as a new version of the car appeared, I went to the dealership. I can note two significant differences between the second and third generations: the amount of gasoline consumed has decreased and sound insulation has improved. I will focus special attention on the first characteristic, since during the break-in period my car burned more than 11 liters. But, as soon as I drove about 10-15 thousand km, the on-board computer began to show 9 liters in the summer, and 9.5 liters in the winter, which, in my opinion, is quite acceptable.
  2. Vasily, Astrakhan. I bought a manual hatchback two years ago. I can’t say that a car with a 2.0 engine takes off, but on the highway it’s quite enough and accelerates well. On the highway, if you drive too hard, it will burn more than 7 liters per 100 km, but in the city with moderate driving it will burn no more than 9 liters per 100 km.
  3. Valentin, Moscow. I drove a 10 for several years, but just a year ago I bought a Ford Focus 3 in good condition from a friend. Before buying, I read about the real gas mileage of a car on the Internet and in most cases it corresponds to reality, as many assured. However, my situation is the opposite; my consumption does not want to drop below 10 liters in the city. I can’t understand what the reason is, diagnostics don’t help, but I noticed that the on-board computer often shows incorrect numbers.
  4. Konstantin, Khabarovsk. I liked the Ford Focus 3 with a 2.0 liter turbodiesel. In my opinion, this is the best solution if you need efficiency and high speed characteristics of the machine. I experimented in the city, pressed the pedal from the start, in general, I drove extremely aggressively - the car burned only 9 liters and this with 140 horses. With careful driving you can achieve 8 liters per hundred. On the highway, the average is 5 liters.
