With a power of 130 horsepower, it had increased consumption, which according to the passport was as much as 8.7 liters. Absolutely all engines were injection-based and had 16 valves.

The buyer everywhere could choose one of two possible transmissions: an automatic, which had four steps, or a five-speed manual.
There was only one diesel engine - 1.8 liters, but it could produce different power, which depended on some modifications. The figures were as follows: 75 hp, 90 hp. and 116 hp This engine in all versions was also injection, however, there were already eight valves. Both transmissions are also present. Fuel consumption varied from 5.2 liters to 5.6 liters.

In 2004, the 2nd generation Focus began production. In addition to the design, there were changes to the engines. They remained the same in volume, but acquired several versions. The 1.4-liter gasoline engine's power was increased to 80 horsepower. It is now paired only with a manual transmission, which has five operating modes. Consumption has decreased slightly - now it is 6.5 liters. The engine, whose volume is 1.6 liters, has two options: 100 hp. and 115 hp In the first case, it comes with a four-speed automatic transmission, and in the second, with a five-speed manual. The consumption is also different. For the first option it reaches 7.4 liters, however, for the second it is only 6.7 liters.

The 1.8-liter unit has 125 horsepower, and just like the first engine, it comes only with a manual transmission. It consumes up to 7.1 liters of fuel. The lineup is completed, as usual, by a two-liter engine. Its power is the same for both automatic and manual and equals 145 horsepower. But consumption varies from 7.2 to 8.1 liters.

All of these engines, except the first one, also have diesel versions. The first produces power of 90 or 109 horsepower and consumes from 4.4 to 4.7 liters of fuel. The power of the next one is 116 hp, and the consumption is 5.4 liters. The top of the range is a two-liter unit with a capacity of 136 horsepower. It consumed up to 5.7 liters of diesel. All units came only with a manual transmission.

The interior is quite tolerable; for the average user you couldn’t imagine anything better. The car drives excellent both in the city and on the highway. It also handles well and holds the road. In 2010, production of the 3rd generation Focus was launched. Still, a lot of attention is paid to the appearance, and after restyling in 2014 it became truly stylish and even sporty. As for the technical part, the car has acquired new versions of engines, as well as a new transmission.

The youngest representative of the gasoline range is now a liter engine with 100 or 125 horsepower. Paired with a manual transmission, which has now become a six-speed, it consumes only 5 liters of fuel. Also new is a one and a half liter unit. Its power is 150 or 182 horsepower. It could be equipped with both an automatic and a manual, which are also six-speed. Fuel consumption here is already 6.1 liters.

The 1.6-liter engine has three configurations: 85 hp, which comes only with a manual transmission, 105 hp. on all transmissions and 125 hp, also with two transmission options. The consumption rate varies from 5.9 to 6.4 liters. The series is also completed by a two-liter engine with a constant power of 150 hp. It is equipped only with a manual transmission, and consumes up to 6.8 liters of gasoline.

Again, all of these engines, except the first one, could be diesel. The one and a half liter configuration has 95 or 120 horses, comes with two types of transmission, and consumes from 3.8 to 4.1 liters of fuel. The 1.6 engine has powers of 95 and 115 hp. It is only matched by a manual transmission, but it already consumes up to 4.6 liters of diesel. The two-liter engine has the same power as the gasoline version, but can also be equipped with an automatic transmission. Here the consumption rate varies from 4.1 to 4.9 liters.
