Hyundai Universe is a modern Korean tourist class bus designed to meet the requirements of European quality and safety standards. The model has an attractive design and ergonomic interior layout, is equipped with a durable and economical engine, and also received a special package of improvements to adapt to Russian road and climatic conditions.

The appearance of the Hyundai Universe is made in an urban style with increased aerodynamics of the load-bearing body. The body itself is made using the technology of a one-piece monocoque with a 15% increased rigidity (when compared with the frame predecessors of this bus). The use of a new type of body made it possible not only to increase its rigidity and improve aerodynamics, but also had a positive effect on handling, making it possible to also reduce longitudinal / transverse buildup and vibration when driving through bumps.

The interior of the Hyundai Universe is designed to provide the maximum level of comfort for the driver and passengers, for which 43 seats are provided. All seats in the cabin are equipped with specially shaped adjustable backrests that provide better support for the lower back and neck.

In turn, the driver's seat has a modern air suspension, a wide range of adjustment, an anatomically shaped backrest and increased legroom.

In addition, the bus is equipped with 3-zone climate control with independent adjustment for the front, middle and rear parts of the cabin, as well as a high-performance heating system.

Hyundai Universe is available in two versions: Luxury and Noble. The Luxury version has a wheelbase of 5850 mm and an overall overall length of 11780 mm. The wheelbase and length of the Noble bus are 6120 and 12000 mm, respectively. The width in both versions does not exceed 2495 mm, but in terms of height, the Noble version is slightly higher than the Luxury version: 3490 mm versus 3340 mm.

The total volume of luggage compartments also differs: 6.5 m³ versus 5.4 m³ (in favor of the Noble version).

As for the weight characteristics, the curb weight of the bus does not exceed 12260 kg, and the gross weight reaches 16600 kg.

The Powertec D-6 series engine is used as a power unit for the Hyundai Universe. The D6ACB engine has 6 in-line cylinders with a total volume of 12300 cm³, a turbocharging system, electronic injection control and liquid cooling. Its maximum power is 380 hp, and the peak torque is at around 1450 N m.
The motor is aggregated with a 5-speed manual transmission model M12S5, which allows you to accelerate the bus to 142 km / h.

The Hyundai Universe suspension is based on pneumatic elements. The brake system of the bus is pneumatic, dual-circuit, with drum brakes on all wheels, which can be optionally replaced with reinforced disc brakes. The steering mechanism is complemented by a classic hydraulic booster.

Universe is Hyundai's new coach, replacing the proven Hyundai Aero series. A long and careful development, numerous improvements and modern technologies have made it possible to create a truly comfortable, functional and durable bus with a modern design.

The main difference of the new HYUNDAI UNIVERSE model is a frameless design. The monocoque body has a positive effect on the handling of the bus, and also provides a significantly lower level of vibration, longitudinal and transverse buildup, compared to traditional models.

Modern dynamic style
Starting with a clean slate, Hyundai engineers chose a monocoque body that increases structural rigidity by more than 15% to reduce vibration. The wind tunnel test result showed that the drag coefficient of the HYUNDAI UNIVERSE bus is 0.43, compared to the previous value of 0.49, which reduces the noise from the oncoming air flow and is conducive to a comfortable ride. The redesigned side mirrors also reduce oncoming traffic, while the headlight design and larger windshield give the bus a modern, streamlined look.

Drivers will appreciate the UNIVERSE's 55mm more legroom and a new ergonomic seat equipped with air suspension to reduce vibration and reduce muscle tension. The one-piece design of the instrument panel and wide multi-functional LCD displays are easy to read.

I switched to Hyundai Universe after the "Chinese" JAC - I was not disappointed with the transplant. I got the bus in a “summer” configuration (in our company they are all like that) - the built-in electronic thermometer showed a temperature of -9 in any frost, because, according to the thermometer, the temperature simply cannot be lower. In addition: the windows in the cabin were single, not double-glazed windows - although there are equipment with double-glazed windows, I personally saw it. The Hyundai Universe has a 373 horse engine, nothing more to say. Reliable, no noise, pulls well. According to the tachometer - the end of the green zone at about one and a half thousand revolutions, there are masters that turn up to two and a half. One has already screwed up - some kind of key and valves on the cylinders have been torn off. Gearbox: a long "poker" in the floor - but they also come with a joystick. Five gears forward, one reverse. The grip is strong. The gear ratios of the Hyundai Universe box are chosen successfully and fairly evenly. The only thing is that there is a small gap between the third and fourth, which is noticeable on the rises of road junctions (where you can’t slip through with acceleration). The ovens are what I liked the most. There is for the cabin and separately for the driver. Salon Hyundai Universe, unlike the "Chinese" - does not smell. The driver's seat is air-suspended. Very comfortable and not wobbly. Spare parts are the most painful topic (at least in St. Petersburg). Consumables, filters, pads - there is such a thing. But if something other than them breaks, then only on order. Even the rugs on the steps (branded) - and then you have to order. Kingpin. Maybe, of course, we ourselves are to blame for the fact that we rarely smear them with a syringe, but, nevertheless. Again, instructions on how often to smear them - I have never seen. And mechanics in our park - too. They do not belong to consumables, they are expensive, and they travel from Korea for a long time. With a run in the region of 150-180 thousand km or more, the main brake valve begins to wedge. You press the pedal like that, the bus slows down, and then you release the brake - but it does not release. In general - the bus, of course, is not yet "Setra" and not "Man" - but it is already far away and not "Chinese".

Advantages : reliable. Comfortable for both driver and passengers. Maintainability.

Flaws : complexity with spare parts - under the order. Pivot suspension.

So, my Hyundai Universe bus. First impressions: the very first thing that caught my eye and ears was the annoying "buzzers" when opening the doors, an incredible thing, not childish. The next position is a double windshield, a trifle, but it interferes with the review very much. And what struck me the most was the 5-speed gearbox. I understand everything, but it’s somehow not entirely clear to me to save on this on the part of the Koreans. Yes, there is a lot of power, as many as 380 "mares", an empty bus goes quite cheerfully, but with a full load it is just as cheerful and dies on the rise. And since the 1st is lowered, this is how a 4-speed gearbox turns out in general (this is sad, in my opinion). The next moment is the driver's window. Yes, a power window, but the size and location, you kill me, but I still did not understand for whom and for what it was made. Another huge drawback is that it warms up extremely slowly. With the boiler turned on (at -10) Hyundai Universe warmed up for about 50 minutes (and this is on the go, not standing). In general, the ergonomics are not bad, driver comfort can be described as chic, passenger seats are very good, but there is no width adjustment (as it should be on buses of this class).

Advantages : comfort. Ergonomics. passenger seats. Powerful engine.

Flaws : 5-speed gearbox.

A new wedge-shaped kingpin was installed, due to which the load on the bridge beam increased from 6.5 to 7 tons.
