Engine oil for Mitsubishi Lancer 10. Mitsubishi oil is a high-quality product manufactured for Mitsubishi cars. Mitsubishi oil production technology

Changing the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 oil is one of the basic procedures for periodic vehicle maintenance. This means that you will have to deal with it regularly, but it is not so difficult to perform. These photos show how to change the oil with your own hands on a 2015 Lancer X with a 1.6 sedan engine. Oil change Lancer 10 1.5 is similar.

When to change oil- oil is typically changed at 15,000 km, reduced to 10,000 in severe operating conditions, which include driving in a large city or very dusty area. However, the Lancer 10 repair manual advises an oil change interval of 12,000 km or every 6 months under normal conditions and 6,000 and 3 months in severe conditions. It is worth noting that frequent oil changes can only harm the wallet.

How much oil to fill- about 4.3 liters of new grease, more precisely, you can determine by measuring the volume of drained oil and checking the level filled with a dipstick. Stock up should be two canisters - 4 and 1 liter.

What kind of oil to fill- the repair manual advises pouring multigrade oil into the engine with a quality of at least ACEA A3 and API SG, viscosity SAE 0W30, SAE 5W30, SAE 5W40. Popular Mitsubishi Motors Genuine Oil and Eneos Super Gasoline.

However, all these parameters are also quite individual - for a 1.5 engine it is recommended to fill in API - SN / CF and ILSAC - GF-5 quality oils, and for a 1.6 engine - API - SM / CF, and ILSAC - GF-4. it is better to choose based on the climatic conditions of the region.

Do-it-yourself Mitsubishi Lancer 10 oil change

What you need: 13 and 17 wrenches (or ratchet head), oil filter remover, empty container capable of holding 4.5 liters of old oil, clean rag, funnel.

The oil is changed on a warm engine so it drains better. If you unscrew the filler cap and raise the dipstick, the oil will flow out faster.

It is more convenient to change the oil on a flyover, ramp, lift or inspection hole. But you can also on a flat surface by blocking the wheels, jacking up the front and installing supports. It is also better to immediately remove the protective panel of the pallet, it is fastened with five turnkey bolts for 13.

Under the oil pan, you need to install a container for draining the oil, then loosen the plug with a 17 wrench and unscrew it by hand. Pull out the cork carefully - after all the oil is hot and can burn. It is worth paying attention to the drain plug gasket, if it is deformed, then the oil will leak - a new gasket is needed. When the oil stops flowing out, you can screw the plug back.

If the new oil is of a different brand than the previously filled in, you need to flush the lubrication system!

After draining the old oil and without touching the old oil filter, you need to fill the engine with flushing oil or a new brand. Then start the engine and let it idle for 10 minutes. After that, turn off the engine, drain the oil and start replacing the oil filter.

Oil filter replacement may require if the filter does not want to be unscrewed by hand. At the same time, a little oil will pour out of it, so you need to move the container. The rubber of a new oil filter must be lubricated with fresh oil before reinstallation. The filter is twisted by hand, it should be tightened no more than three quarters of a turn after the first resistance appears.

After making sure that both the filter and the drain plug are well tightened, you can fill in new oil. To do this, install a funnel in the filler neck and pour four and a half liters of oil. Filling the entire volume at once is not the best idea - it has negative consequences.

Therefore, the bay needs a little less volume, you should tighten the lid and start the engine for a few minutes. While it is running, you can check the filter and drain plug for leaks. If there is, then you need to tighten it. After turning off the engine and waiting a little while the oil drains into the sump, you need to check the oil level. It should be between the marks, closer to the top (MAX). The pallet protection is installed in the reverse order.

Mitsubishi Lancer 10 oil change procedure

1. To drain the oil on the Lancer, it is necessary to remove the protection of the oil pan

On many Mitsubishi Lancer 10, a metal sump protection is installed, which in turn has a technological hole for unscrewing the drain plugpan, but for a more accurate drain of oil from the Lancer engine, it is better to remove this protection.

The embedded bolts that are provided for attaching the protection to the subframe and the front panel are often rolled up and it is necessary to replace the entire set of embedded fasteners for the crankcase protection on the Lancer, which consists of five mortgages.

The cost of the pallet protection installation kit 750 rubles.

So, in order to prevent this from happening, it is imperative to treat these bolts with a special protective lubricant before installing the pallet protection back.

2. Draining old oil from the engine

When unscrewing the drain plug, it is imperative to replace it! disposable aluminum gasket-ring, because when twisting, the ring is crushed, thereby ensuring a tight connection of the cork with the pallet body and preventing spontaneous unscrewing. And if this ring is reused, then there will be nowhere for it to crumple and the ring will not perform its task of sealing. Well, what will happen if the plug is unscrewed and all the oil flows out of the engine, we think there is no need to tell ....

3. Replacing the oil filter on Mitsubishi Lancer 10

In the procedure for replacing the oil filter on the Lancer, in principle, there is nothing complicated. The oil filter on the Mitsubishi Lanser X is located in an accessible place. Before screwing in a new filter, it is necessary to lubricate the rubber sealing ring-gasket with oil so that when tightening, the oil filter sealing ring does not move when it is pressed against the Mitsubishi Lancer engine block.

4. Filling in new oil in the engine

It is necessary to pour new oil into the engine very carefully so as not to spill some of the oil on the engine and prevent flammable oil from getting on the exhaust manifold, which in turn will become very hot during the operation of the Mitsubishi Lancer engine.

It is also very important to fill the engine with oil exactly as much as necessary according to the level. If the level is below the permissible level in the Lancer 9 engine, oil starvation may occur, which can lead to majorMitsubishi Lancer 10 engine repair. And if the oil level in the Lancer engine is higher, then crankcase dehemitization may occur and an oil leak will form. As a rule, with an excess amount of oil in the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 engine, the crankshaft oil seals, both front and rear, fail. If a replacement of the front crankshaft oil seal on Lancer 10 cost 2650 rubles ., then already replacing the crankshaft rear oil seal with a Mitsubishi Lancer 10 costs 6500 rubles, since to replace the rear crankshaft oil seal, it is necessary to remove the gearbox.

It is not always possible to buy original motor oils, so you have to look for alternative lubricants. They must be no worse than the original fluids in terms of parameters so as not to harm the engine. Of course, there are lubricants that have tolerances on the canister, but these are not always found as an ideal option. It is possible to carry out the correct selection of motor fluid by class, oil and its viscosity. This article describes the recommended engine oil for Mitsubishi Lancer.

Petrol power units

  • type of car oil according to ACEA A1 / B1, A3 / B3 or A5 / B5.

The selection of viscosity is carried out according to scheme 5 and depends on the air temperature outside the car. It should be borne in mind that the use of lubricants 0w-30, 5w-30 and 5w-40 is permissible if they comply with ACEA A3 / B3, A3 / B4 or A5 / B5 and the SG class according to the API system. Based on scheme 5, at a temperature, for example, more than -25 0 С, it is necessary to fill in lubricants 10w-40 or 10w-50, and for a temperature range from -35 0 С (and below) to +50 0 С (and above) use oils 5w-40. The interpretation of the remaining dependences of viscosity on temperature is similar to scheme 4.

Scheme 5. The dependence of the viscosity parameters of the motor oil on the ambient temperature.

The volume of engine oil in the oil pan is 4.0 liters, the volume of lubricant in the oil filter is 0.2 liters for models with 1500 cm 3 engines and 0.3 liters for models equipped with 2000 cm 3 engines.

Conclusion

The recommended engine oil for Mitsubishi Lancer contains all the necessary additives to protect the engine from wear and ensure high efficiency, so the use of any additives is unacceptable: they can react with the oil and damage the engine.

An important role in choosing a lubricant is played by the temperature outside the machine: low-fluid lubricants are poured in the summer, very liquid oils are poured in the winter. When choosing all-season motor oils, you should give preference to synthetic or semi-synthetic oils, since they have a wider operating temperature range than mineral motor oils.

Recommended engine oil for Mitsubishi Outlander

For each car with an internal combustion engine, after a certain time interval or distance traveled, the moment comes to change the oil and oil filter in the engine. And every responsible car owner of the ninth Lancer sooner or later asks several questions: what is the oil change interval, what and how much oil to fill in the engine? If you look into any specialized auto shop, we will come across a large selection of motor oils, since each of them differs from the others in its characteristics: chemical composition (synthetic, semi-synthetic or mineral), viscosity, additive package and, most importantly, quality. To avoid such questions and difficulties, let's try to figure it all out.

Attention! All the tips and instructions below are written by the average owner of the ninth Lancer, which are based on many years of experience in operating this car. They cannot guarantee 100% correctness of reasoning, so it is up to you to listen to them or not.

Oil volume

Oil volume- this is the total volume of oil to be filled in, including the volume of the oil filter. As a rule, at any oil change on any engine, it is impossible to completely drain the engine oil, so there will most often be about 0.2 - 0.3 liters of old oil in the engine. There is nothing wrong with this, there is no need to worry too much.

Oil Change Interval

The “recommended” engine oil change interval for a 9 Lancer is 15,000 km. In quotation marks, because this interval will most likely only help you develop engine wear faster, after which you may begin to be interested in another topic - increased oil consumption in the engine. If you search the Internet for information about this, you can find an incredibly large number of reviews from angry car owners of the ninth generation Lancer, whose oil consumption can reach 1 liter per 1000 km. I do not take as an example the reviews of the second (and more) owners of the Lancer, because on the odometer they show a figure in the region of 50,000 - 100,000 km, but in reality the mileage can be several times more.

For many years of operation and study of the forums, I have revealed a small pattern. Those who had an oil and oil filter change interval of 15,000 km, many began to have oil burn problems after 60,000 km, those who changed the oil more often had much fewer problems.

For many, the oil change period is based on the distance traveled by the car, but this is not entirely correct. After all, all internal combustion engines continue their work at traffic lights when the car is stationary, or, in traffic jams, when the average speed can be 5-10 km / h.

Let's do some calculations. Take as an example an oil change period of 10,000 km and three owners. The first of them carries out its movement in a densely populated area through traffic jams at an average speed of 10,000 km - 20 km / h. The second also travels around the city, but without traffic jams, and its average speed was 40 km/h. The third only overcomes distances along the highway at an average speed of 70 km / h. Using not very complex calculations, we calculate the number of hours of operation of the engine: for the first - 500, the second - 250 and the third ~ 143.

What conclusion can be drawn from this? Everyone should choose the oil change interval individually, depending on the driving style and location, but in any case, it is better to change the oil at least 10,000 km.

I'll tell you about your car. From 30,000 km to 200,000 km, the engine oil change period was approximately 7,500 km. Up to 150,000 km there were absolutely no problems, after 150,000 km a small consumption appeared: up to 0.5 liters per 7500 km.

Engine oil selection

The main property of engine oil is its viscosity, i.e. dependence on ambient temperature during cold start of the engine in winter to the maximum oil temperature in the engine at maximum load in summer. Especially for this, the internationally accepted classification - SAE, has been developed, which gives the temperature range for the safe operation of the engine. The Mitsubishi plant recommends using the following types of oils for Lancer 9 depending on the ambient temperature:

Temperature, °C
< -35 -30 -20 -10 0 10 20 30 40 > 50
SAE 20W-40, 20W-50
SAE 15W-40, 15W-50
SAE 10W-40, 10W-50
SAE 10W-30
SAE 0W-40, 5W-40
SAE 0W-30, 5W-30

After the abbreviation SAE several numbers follow, separated by W and a dash, for example, 5W-40, which is a universal all-weather oil, can be deciphered as follows: 5W- low-temperature viscosity, indicating that starting the engine in winter is possible at a temperature not lower than -35 ° C (40 must be subtracted from the figure in front of W). The second number (high-temperature viscosity) cannot simply be taken and translated into a normal and understandable language, because this indicator is combined, indicating the minimum and maximum viscosity of the oil at operating temperatures (100-150 ° C) of the engine. The higher this number, the greater the viscosity of the oil at high temperatures.

Universal oil for 9 Lancer is SAE 5w-30, SAE 5w40, SAE 10w40 (for not very cold places). Which manufacturer to choose is up to you. You should not chase expensive oils, it is better to take cheaper ones, but then change them more often. In the entire history of operation of the 9 Lancer, he himself poured semi-synthetic oil Shell Helix Plus 10w40 (in summer) and Shell Helix 5w40 (in winter) and never experienced problems with starting due to oil.

What oil are you filling in? Tell us about it in the comments.

Lancer is a landmark model for Mitsubishi, it is no coincidence that this year it will celebrate its 45th anniversary. Lancer 10, whose production started in 2007, is the latest generation of this compact car. The popularity of this brand all over the world is very high, it is no coincidence that the model is assembled at five factories in different countries. With an individual exterior, comfortable interior and a range of economical and efficient powertrains, Lancer X fully meets the high Japanese and international standards in terms of quality, reliability and safety.

Engine oil change algorithm in Mitsubishi Lancer X.

But no matter how high the performance characteristics of this model are, without the timely execution of routine maintenance work, the vehicle's resource would be much less. Meanwhile, many of them can be done independently, including lubricants. What oil is the best for Lancer 10, when and how to replace it - we will try to answer these questions.

Replacement frequency

Currently, the line of tenth Lancers is equipped with the following gasoline power units:

  • 1.5 (oil volume - 4.2 l.);
  • 1.6 (oil volume - 4.2 l.);
  • 1.8 (oil volume - 4.3 l.);
  • 2.0 (oil volume - 4.1 liters, models until 2012);
  • 2.0 (oil volume - 5.8 liters, models from 2012 onwards);
  • 2.4 (oil volume - 4.6 l.).

In the Lancer 10 engine, according to the recommendations of the automaker, it is every 15 thousand kilometers. In this case, along with the lubricating fluid, the oil filter must also be replaced. However, focusing only on mileage, according to many automotive experts, should not be.

The operation of the car in difficult road conditions significantly reduces this interval, and this concept should be understood by no means only as the quality of Russian roads. It is known that extreme temperature conditions of engine operation lead to a noticeable deterioration in the quality of the lubricating fluid, as well as:

  • filling low quality fuel;
  • driving in a metropolis with frequent stops with the engine running;
  • driving on country roads without a hard surface;
  • aggressive driving style.

In the presence of any of these factors, the replacement interval should be reduced to 5 - 7.5 thousand kilometers, and without them, change the lubricant in the power unit every 10,000 kilometers.

What oil to pour

At the factory, Mitsubishi Lancer is filled with original oil of its own production. The oil of the first filling obviously cannot be bad, but in this case it has a number of positive qualities:

  • high thermal stability;
  • reliable protection against corrosion;
  • resistance to foaming;
  • compatibility with modern and previously used sealing materials;
  • excellent extreme pressure characteristics;
  • the ability to increase the efficiency of an internal combustion engine;
  • fuel efficiency;
  • ensuring reliable start-up of the power unit in conditions of negative temperatures.

It is far from always possible to use it for replacement, and the huge selection of lubricants on the market makes it difficult to get an answer to the question of which engine oil to fill in the Lancer 10 engine. The automaker himself recommends filling Mitsubishi Lancer X with oils that meet the following quality parameters of the engine mixture :

The choice of manufacturer is not so important - often lubricants from well-known brands are practically no different from oils from less well-known manufacturers of auto chemical goods, except for the price. And it does not always make sense to overpay for a trademark.

Work order

First you need to purchase consumables: the oil itself, guided by the table above, an oil filter and a new gasket for the drain plug located on the crankcase of the power unit. If possible, it is better to purchase original consumables:

  • Genuine Oil 5W30 (4 liter can, catalog number MZ320757);
  • Genuine Oil 5W30 oil (liter canister, catalog number MZ320756);
  • drain plug gasket (catalog number MD050317);
  • oil filter for the power unit 1.6 l. (catalog number MZ690070), as an alternative, oil filters Mann W6103, Filtron P575, Mahle C196 can be used;
  • oil filter for a 1.5 liter engine (catalog number MR984204, analogues - filters Mann W67, Mahle C495, Purflux LS287).

In addition, you should prepare wrenches for 13/17 (end / open-end), a special oil scraper wrench for a filter with a diameter of 60 mm, some rags and a container for draining used grease.

Before starting the procedure, you should warm up the car by making a trip of 5 to 10 kilometers so that the oil becomes more fluid - in this case it will merge in a more complete volume. It is also necessary to take care of the possibility of unhindered access to the bottom of the car. Many overpasses built in Soviet times are designed for representatives of the automotive industry produced at that time, and they may not be suitable for a wide Lancer 10 - this point must be taken into account.

Here is the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 sequence:

  1. We remove the engine protection, which is fastened with four bolts. We use the key at 13.
  2. We install in front of the drain hole a previously prepared container of a suitable volume (from 5 liters).
  3. With a key of 17, we unscrew the drain plug, at the very end we do it carefully so as not to burn ourselves.
  4. If the lubricant being filled in differs from the previously used one in any parameter indicated in the table (type, viscosity, class), it is necessary. To do this, we twist the drain plug back, open the drain plug (by turning it counterclockwise) and, using a funnel, pour a special flushing composition into the engine in a volume of about 3.5 - 4 liters. We start the power unit, let it run for 10 - 15 minutes, turn off and drain the flush in the same way as we did with used oil.
  5. We twist the drain plug, changing the sealing ring to a new one.
  6. Unscrew the oil filter. Usually, in order to rip it off, the use of a special puller is required, in the future it is well unscrewed by hand.
  7. Pour engine oil into the new filter, filling it by about 2/3 of the volume, carefully lubricate the sealing gum with the same oil, screw the oil filter back into place.
  8. We remove the filler plug and proceed to fill in fresh lubricating fluid, guided by the marks on the dipstick. When the oil reaches the middle between the MIN and MAX marks, stop filling.
  9. We start the engine, let it run for about 5 minutes at idle. We muffle and check the lubrication level again, usually it decreases slightly. In any case, we add to the MAX mark - this is required by the automaker, regardless of the type of power unit. The amount of engine oil that we drained should not act as a guideline.
  10. We put the crankcase protection in place.

The engine oil level should be checked regularly (ideally before each ride). To do this, it is necessary to install the car on a strictly horizontal surface, which will eliminate any measurement errors. If the oil is drained on a hot engine, then the correct level check is on a cold one. The fact is that when the power unit is running, a lot of liquid is sprayed over the surface of the engine, as a result of which there is a volume in the sump that is far from full. Therefore, after the trip, it is necessary to let the car stand for up to 10 minutes - this time is enough for all the oil to glass into the crankcase.

If, as a result of the check, it turns out that the level of the lubricant is lower than recommended, you just need to add the required amount. But what to do if you overdo it, and you can see on the dipstick that the lubricant level has gone above the MAX mark? In this case, you need to find a sufficiently long piece of rubber hose and pump out excess fluid. Technically, this can be a difficult task, so you can use a syringe without a needle, which is put on the other end of the hose. The oil must be pumped out until the lubrication level is brought into line with the standard indicators.

As you can see, replacing the engine fluid in the Lancer 10 power unit cannot be attributed to a procedure that requires special skills and the availability of specialized equipment (with the exception of an oil filter puller, which can be purchased at any car shop). Guided by the instructions given, even a person who rarely picks up a wrench is able to perform such an operation. The only caveat is that if the car is new and is under warranty service, an independent oil change (as well as performing this procedure not at an official service) will lead to a loss of warranty.
