The world premiere of the Nissan Juke crossover took place at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010. The car is based on the Qazana concept presented in 2009, built on the Renault/Nissan B platform. Its length is 4135 mm, width - 1765, height - 1570, wheelbase - 2530 mm, ground clearance - 175 mm. The trunk volume, probably for the sake of minimizing the size, is quite modest - 251 liters (830 liters with the rear sofa folded out). Juke harmoniously combines small size, sporty spirit and SUV performance. Its extraordinary appearance amazes at first glance; several styles are used in the exterior: the massive bottom of the car with plastic lining demonstrates an obvious relationship with an SUV, while the top with a coupe-like silhouette, narrow windows, and hidden rear door handles clearly resembles a sports car. The exterior design of the Nissan Juke may have both fans and detractors, but we can safely say that it will not leave anyone indifferent.

The designers' extraordinary solutions continued inside. Sports aesthetics are also present in the interior: in the shape of the seats, the center console, stylized as a motorcycle fuel tank, in the dashboard equipped with two wells of optitron devices, in the contrasting trim (black and red or black and gray) of the interior. The interior space is not particularly spacious, but at the same time, not only those sitting in front, but also the rear passengers do not feel offended.

The sporty spirit of the Nissan Juke is reflected in its dynamic performance and, above all, the new turbocharged petrol engine with a displacement of 1.6 liters. producing 190 hp power with a maximum torque of 240 Nm. The engine is equipped with direct fuel injection (increases power and torque, reduces harmful emissions), a turbocharger and intercooler (allows for high peak power and torque), as well as a continuously variable valve timing mechanism that controls the intake and exhaust valves (ensures high torque throughout the entire rpm range). Engine parts use technologies that reduce friction (carbon coating for valve lifters, “mirror” surfaces of camshafts, ceramic-coated piston rings). The turbocharged engine is available with a 6-speed manual transmission or an Xtronic CVT-M6 CVT with manual gear shift. As standard, the car is equipped with a 1.6 liter petrol engine. with a power of 117 hp, which is available with both a 5-speed manual transmission and an Xtronic CVT. For the European market, a diesel engine with a displacement of 1.5 liters, a power of 81 kW (110 hp) and a common-rail system is offered. This power unit provides the Juke with excellent dynamics thanks to its impressive torque (240 Nm) and is characterized by good fuel efficiency and low exhaust emissions.

The car is equipped with either front-wheel drive or ALL MODE 4X4-i all-wheel drive with the advanced TORQUE VECTOR torque vectoring system. This system improves vehicle handling and reduces understeer on turns. Along with the redistribution of torque between the front and rear axles in a 50:50 ratio, this system distributes it between the wheels of different sides. As for the front-wheel drive modifications, they come with MacPherson struts and an “H” type rear suspension with a torsion beam and guide arms. All-wheel drive versions are equipped with a multi-link rear suspension, similar in design to the Nissan Qashqai.

Nissan Juke received 5 points in EuroNCAP safety tests. Adult passengers in the front seats received 87% protection, children in special safety seats in the rear seats received 81%. Pedestrians earned 41% on safety. And passive safety systems 71%.

Nissan spent about 60 million euros on the development of this model, creating 1,000 jobs. Regular single-wheel drive versions are planned to be produced at the Sunderland plant, and all-wheel drive and turbocharged versions are planned to be produced at the Oppama plant in Japan. Interestingly, sales of the model are planned to be distributed around the world in a ratio of 60:25:15 between the USA, Europe and Japan.

The updated version of the Nissan Juke was presented at the international motor show in Geneva in 2014. Externally, the car has changed slightly, maintaining the recognition and signature originality of the model. The crossover acquired xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights (the pre-restyling Juke, even in top versions, was equipped only with halogen headlights), a modernized radiator grille with a new company logo, modified front and rear bumpers, side mirrors with built-in turn signal indicators, and LED taillights -elements and a large hatch, which occupies 2/3 of the roof area.

Completing the exterior changes for the 2014 Nissan Juke is a new set of alloy wheels. For an additional fee, you can order various colored wheel inserts. In the basic Visia configuration, the crossover will receive 16-inch steel or alloy wheels, in the Acenta and Tekna versions - 17-inch alloy wheels of various designs, as well as optional 18-inch wheels.

There are three new body color options: metallic Sunlight Yellow, metallic Ink Blue and Solid Red. Optionally, mirror caps, side sills, spoilers and door handles can be in a contrasting color.

A small trunk was one of the few but significant shortcomings of the Juke in its early years. Nissan tried to fix this by changing the shape of the trunk, but only in the front-wheel drive version of the crossover. Now its volume is 354 liters. It turns out that the trunk of the all-wheel drive version is still only 251 liters.

In the cabin, it is worth noting the presence of a new multimedia complex and a set of Nissan Safety Shield safety systems, which includes a lane control system, a system for detecting objects in blind spots, and a system for detecting moving objects. The list of crossover equipment also includes the Around View Monitor system. The basic equipment includes an audio system with a CD player and an AUX connector, an optimal gear indicator and a tire pressure sensor. In the 1.5 dCi and 1.6 DIG-T modifications, the “base” also includes alloy wheels, air conditioning, a trip computer and a height-adjustable driver’s seat.

The interior design has not changed, but new design options have become available for it. The center console, door panels and other interior elements are painted gray as standard, while additional customization packages include red, white, black or bright yellow.

The updated model is equipped with more economical and environmentally friendly power plants. The outdated 117-horsepower 1.6-liter engine was replaced by a new unit with a volume of 1.2 liters and a power of 115 hp. (190 Nm of torque). Fuel consumption in the combined cycle is about 5.5 liters. The second petrol engine is 1.6 liter and has a power of 190 hp. familiar to us from the pre-restyling model, but it was modernized - the compression ratio was increased (from 9.5 to 10.5), and an exhaust gas recirculation system was introduced. The previous 1.5-liter 110-horsepower turbodiesel (not supplied to Russia) also entered the power line. All engines for the 2014 Nissan Juke are offered with a six-speed manual transmission, and the new M-CVT is optionally available.
