Mack CX trucks are practical and spectacular machines. The history of the Mack brand Truck tractors in Russia - the advantages of Mack Truck

To celebrate the debut of the new generation Mack Anthem, a press conference was held at which the company's vice president of global marketing, John Walsh, said that "Mack is the only American truck manufacturer that can claim that all trucks sold in the United States are made here. , in the USA".

The company's designers tried to embody the image of a "true American tractor" in the novelty, while maintaining the Mack branded features so that it could be recognized at first sight. The head of the Volvo Group, which includes Mack, Martin Lundstedt commented on the new Anthem, saying that over time it will become a classic.

The manufacturer said that by changing the generation, Anthem has become 1.5-3.0% more economical and more comfortable. The most spacious version of the cabin has received 35% more space due to the new layout, as well as a sleeping bag 178 cm long, more racks, cabinets and work surfaces. The cockpit also has new seats and a large number of sockets, and the inscriptions and icons on the buttons are laser-cut, so they will not be erased now.

The power range of the new Anthem includes MP series engines. For example, at the head of the line is the 13-liter Mack MP8, whose output is 505 hp. and 2,521 Nm of torque. It is followed by the 11-liter MP7, which develops 425 hp. and 2 115 Nm. All engines are mated to a 12-speed mDRIVE AMT transmission as standard, with 13- and 14-speed options available.

By the way, as reported by the portal "Kolesa.ru" earlier, recently - a truck 54901 with a K5 cab.

To promote its activities, a well-known automobile company created the MACK CX truck tractor, which was designed to create full-fledged competition for the best analogues. First of all, the car impresses with comfort. The sleeping compartment is a small house about two meters long. It is spacious and light. The ceiling is equipped with a large glass hatch, and on the sides there are windows and many light bulbs.

In addition, the sleeping bag Mack Vision CX 612 has a refrigerator, microwave, television and audio system. The overall interior is complemented by the usual equipment for European trucks in the form of a front panel, an instrument panel with BC and other characteristic fillings. The tractor made a real sensation in America. The photo shows the sample in all its glory.

In addition, the sleeping bag Mack Vision CX 612 has a refrigerator, microwave, television and audio system.

Testing

The ceiling height of almost 2.5 meters with a total cabin volume of 16 cubic meters gives the right to call the car the dream of any trucker. However, it was not so easy to test the car in Europe. This is due to the difference in the requirements of the Old and New Worlds for the length of the cabin and the full road train.

More extensive approvals in America allow you to use the Mack CX 613 truck tractor to the fullest. Such a car for drivers in Europe is still only the ultimate dream, since here the main emphasis is on practicality and commercial benefits. It is also worth noting that the voltage in this model is designed for an American indicator of 110 V, but, thanks to the converter, the system is quickly reconfigured to 220 V.

You can connect the desired device using four sockets, two of which are located in the sleeping compartment. The rest are outside under the left door (for warming up the power unit and connecting the on-board system to an external source).

Specifications

Brief technical characteristics of the Mack CX:

Peculiarities

The hand brake is controlled by the red button for supplying air to the trailer, unlike the European counterpart, where the "handbrake" is activated by pressing in the large yellow button. There are no many round dials and motley control keys in the cockpit. At the top of the dashboard is the parachute system activator, which allows you to slow down the trailer on the move.

The instrument panel is digitized in miles, it is absent at all, since it is not relevant for America. At the bottom left is a pressure gauge for monitoring the pressure in the rear air suspension. The diagnostic monitor is in the usual place, in contrast to the location of the control buttons. Cruise control is controlled by the left lever under the steering wheel. The function of restoring a previously set transmission is absent in most cases. The clutch is quite tight, but, after acquiring certain skills, the transmission can and should be stuck by accelerating the car to a certain speed, without using the clutch (on non-synchronized mechanical boxes).

The instrument panel is digitized in miles, there is no tachograph at all, since it is not relevant for America.

The gas and brake pedal control system is informative and soft. There is ABS, a decompression brake with three valve modes: operation after a braking command by two cylinders, four or six (at maximum load). On a slippery track, a center differential lock helps out. Among the technical characteristics, one can note the possibility of giving a double sound signal, a well-developed audio system with 8 speakers and other amenities (lockers, a refrigerator, a vacuum cleaner, a flat-screen TV, a DVD player and a carpet on the floor).

Last winter. Then it was announced that Titan, the flagship model of the company, which had been produced unchanged since 2008, was being removed from production. And now its worthy replacement is presented - a completely new Mack Anthem.

Anthem is translated from English as a hymn. And the appearance of the new Mack tractor is fully consistent with its name. Everything is in the best traditions of the company: a long hood with a bulldog figure, a massive front bumper with chrome inserts and a spoiler at the bottom, wide fenders - they have built-in full LED headlights that shine 66% brighter than usual. Another distinguishing feature is the additional rear-view mirrors placed directly on the hood. They not only improve visibility to the rear, but also help the driver feel the dimensions.

Despite the external massiveness and impressiveness, the aerodynamics of the tractor worked out perfectly. The shape of the cabin, the spoiler under the bumper and the gaps above it closed with special shields allow you to save up to 3% of fuel compared to the previous model.

The interior of the Anthem's cabin is fully consistent with its futuristic appearance, but at the same time it has many details traditional for American trucks. Depending on the configuration, the plastic front panel may have inserts made of aluminum or natural wood. The driver is surrounded by a traditional scattering of buttons and a variety of toggle switches, but the truck's systems can also be controlled from a five-inch color touch screen. The most important and frequently used functions are placed on the buttons on the steering wheel. Well, the number of various shelves, drawers and especially coasters in the cockpit is simply incalculable.

A huge sleeping compartment allows you to stand up to your full height. Inside it is almost a small apartment. There is a microwave, TV, wardrobe and a giant bed. The length of the sleeping bag alone is almost 180 cm. Of course, there will be simpler versions: with a sleeping bag 120 cm long, and also without it at all.

Mack Anthem will be available in three flavors

When it comes to powertrains and transmissions, Anthem has a huge selection to offer. It is available with 11- and 13-liter engines ranging from 325 to 505 hp. with. and torque up to 1860 Nm. Gearboxes - mechanical (Maxitorque or Eaton Fuller), robotic (MDrive) or fully automatic (Allison). Bridges - Mack, Meritor or Dana.

Interestingly, every Anthem in America will be connected to the Mack Connect network. With its help, information from hundreds of sensors inside the truck can be transmitted to the dispatch service. This will allow large companies to track the location of their vehicles, and drivers, in the event of a tractor breakdown, immediately send data to a service station.

MACK TRUCKS

1890 - John Jr. Jack takes a job at the Fallesen & Berry car manufacturing firm in Brooklyn.

1893 - Jack Meck and his brother August buy Fallesen & Berry.

1894 - William Meck, who ran the Scranton Carriage Works, joins his brothers' business. The production of railway cars is closed, and the brothers are focusing their attention on the production of trucks. The brothers are experimenting with steam and electric vehicles.

The first years of the 20th century were full of innovations, the revolutionary spirit of which is still felt today. In 1902, Willis Quarry introduces air conditioning; in 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright took to the air for the first time, in 1908, Henry Ford demonstrates his Model T. The Meck brothers are working on creating a powerful heavy truck and engines for it. In 1900, the brothers open the production of buses. Meck is engaged in the production of buses until 1960.

The brothers go public and create a new company, Mack Brothers Motor Car Company. Meck was one of the first manufacturers to place the driver's cab above the engine, which increased the visibility of the person behind the wheel, especially on busy city streets. The cab-over-engine Manhattan model was first introduced in 1905. Meck patented some elements, such as those that protected the engine from damage when driven by inexperienced drivers; a mechanism that allowed the driver to immediately switch from high speed to low, without passing through the middle one.

Mek introduces a new model - a featherweight truck. Meck built the first fire truck for Morrisville. In August 1911, the brothers sell the company, and the new owners continue to work under the name International Motor Company - a holding company Mack Brothers Motor Company (Mack Brothers Motor Company) and Saurer Motor Company (Saurer Motor Company). In 1916, the well-known AC model with a rear axle chain drive was introduced, it proved to be a reliable and durable machine. This model was produced until 1939. Mek produced military armored vehicles during the First World War. There were deliveries of cars to the UK. At the end of the war the name of the company was changed to Mack-International Motor Truck Corporation. 1918 - Meck became the first manufacturer to install air conditioners and oil filters on trucks. In 1920, a vacuum brake booster appeared on Mack trucks. In 1922, the bulldog became the emblem of the company. Growing sales and increased demand spurred engineering. During this period, two types of trucks were produced: non-reverse and reversible.

Mack introduces the E Series vehicles in two versions: a hooded truck and a cab-over-engine truck. Their release went until 1951. For the first time, Mek vehicles had brakes on all four wheels, which increased the ability of the brakes and provided greater safety on heavy trucks. Mek begins production of its own diesel engines.

In 1938, the production of ¾ ton trucks begins. Until 1972, trucks with a volume of 15 to 100 tons for mines were produced. In the 1950s, G, H and B models were produced. The G series trucks had an aluminum cab, which lightened the weight of the car and made it possible to increase the carrying capacity.

By 1940 in "Mack" the famous new L-series truck with a conventional cab layout is launched, which has gained popularity on the east and west coasts of the country. During World War II, Mack contributed to the victory of the Allies by producing over 35,000 trucks for the army, of which 16,000 were equipped with diesel engines of their own production.

After the war "Mack" returned to the production of civilian equipment, and in 1947 the LT model appeared. This machine was created in Ellinton and was produced until 1956. Many believed that the car represented the pinnacle of diesel engineering.

In the 1950s, a lot of cars appeared "Mack Trucks" with new transmissions and rear end design.

Series B has become one of the most successful in the history of Musk production. These vehicles are still widely used today. The word "international" eventually disappeared from the name and remained only Mack Motor Truck Company up to this day.

The first diesel fire truck of the B85F series was sold in 1960.

1962 - New series of cab-over-engine trucks with and without sleeper are introduced. 1967 - The Maxidyne engine was introduced, which flattened the horsepower curve, resulting in improved fuel economy.

In 1977 Mac Trucks buys Brockway Motor Company. Production brockway stops.

In 1982, Renault increases its shares by 20%. Signal is cutting its stake by 10%. Mack introduces the ultra-liner model with a fiberglass cabin. The new design is the result of a reduction in cabin weight and improved corrosion resistance.

1983 When Mac Trucks Inc. became a public corporation again in 1983 with an offer of 15.7 million shares of common stock, further tying them to Renault. The two firms were in talks as early as 1977 to distribute medium duty diesel trucks in North America and parts of Central America and the Caribbean. Renault and Mack entered into a partnership to introduce a series of medium duty trucks in 1979. Renault increases its shareholding to 40%. Signal is cutting its stake by 10.3%.

1987 commercial vehicle division Renault- Renault V.I. - undergoes a financial reorganization, it redeems Mack's share from the parent company.

1988 - A new series of E7 with a 12-liter engine is released. Today, this series of cars has sixteen different types of engines ranging from 250 to 454 horsepower. The E7 boasts the best power/weight ratio for maximum performance. In the same year, Mack introduced a new series of CH trucks for high-speed roads.
