In most cases, low beam problems on a Volkswagen Polo are due to burnt out lamps. Thanks to convenient access to the rear side of the headlights, you can replace the lighting elements very quickly, without any difficulties. The only thing is that we first recommend that you familiarize yourself with the main nuances of this operation and the procedure that we will consider in this article.

Choice

As a rule, replacing a low beam lamp with a Volkswagen Polo Sedan for beginners begins with their choice. It should be said right away that this car uses H4 double-filament halogen lamps, i.e. they are also high-beam lamps. You can distinguish them from single-filament ones by the presence of three contacts on the base.

The auto parts market offers a wide range of such lamps from a variety of manufacturers. Moreover, the price of a product is often not a guarantee of quality. Therefore, when choosing, first of all, you need to focus on the following characteristics of the lighting element:

Advice!
On sale you can find pseudo-xenon bulbs.
These are the same "halogens", however, they provide light blue light close to daylight.
Such lamps illuminate the space well in dry weather, but in rain or snow they are inferior to ordinary ones.

Of course, lighting elements can only be purchased in large specialized stores, despite the fact that their cost may be higher than from market sellers. However, in this case, there is less chance of acquiring a fake that will quickly burn out or shine poorly.

As for manufacturers, it is better to give preference to well-known brands such as

  • Bosch;
  • Philips;
  • Osram etc.

It should be noted that domestic light bulbs "Mayak" have recently been popular among motorists. They are cheaper than imported analogues, but at the same time they are not inferior to them in quality.

Advice!
Before purchasing a particular lamp model, it is advisable to read reviews about it on the Internet.

Having decided on the type of lighting element, you can make a purchase. Moreover, it is better to buy lamps in pairs. The fact is that the light of different models usually differs, and this is clearly noticeable during their operation.

In addition, the durability of light bulbs is approximately the same. Therefore, if the dipped beam on the Volkswagen Polo is not on in one headlight, then, most likely, in the near future it will also go out in the second headlight.

Procedure

So, replacing a low beam bulb with a Volkswagen Polo sedan is carried out in the following sequence:

  • First of all, you need to open the hood and disconnect the negative terminal from the battery.
  • Then you need to disconnect the block from the base contacts. To do this, you need to pull it towards you, slightly swaying from side to side.
  • Next, you need to dismantle the rubber plug.
  • After that, access to the spring latch will open. to be released by pulling it towards you. (See also the article.)

  • Now you can remove the old light bulb and install a new one in its place.. It is better to replace the lamp with gloves so as not to touch its glass with your own hands. Otherwise, grease spots will remain on the bulb, which will lead to overheating and rapid failure of the lighting element.
  • Further work is carried out in reverse order- the base is fixed with a spring, the anther is put in place and then the block is put on the contacts.

Here, in fact, is the entire instruction. Even for beginners, this work takes 10-15 minutes.

Advice!
If you touch the glass bulb of a light bulb with your bare hands, you can wipe it with alcohol.

According to this scheme, the Volkswagen low beam lamp is changed to the Polo Sedan both on the left and on the right side.

Replacing fuses

Sometimes it happens that even after replacing the low beam lamp on the Volkswagen Polo does not light up. This is usually caused by blown fuses. Changing them is even easier than changing bulbs.

The mounting block is located on the instrument panel, lower left side. You need to open the cover to access it.

In this case, we are interested in the following fuses:

  • BS39 - responsible for the right block headlight;
  • BS59 - responsible for the left block headlight.

Often, a fuse failure cannot be visually determined. Therefore, even if it does not have external signs of defects, it is necessary to check its performance with the device, or install a new fuse.

Note!
The cause of a low beam malfunction can also be oxidized or burnt contacts in the block or relay.
The problem is solved by cleaning the contacts.

Conclusion

The low beam lamp on the Polo Sedan is changed by performing a few simple steps. In this case, the recommendations given above must be followed so that the process is safe and does not affect the durability of the new lamp. If the replacement of the lighting elements did not give the desired results, it is necessary to check the fuses.

Lamps installed from the factory usually last two to three years. The service life of lamps depends on the frequency of their use and on the quality of the lamps themselves. From the factory, high-quality lamps with an extended service life are installed on the VW Polo, which ensures their long service life. When the lamp burns out, we are faced with a choice - which lamp to choose and how to actually replace it. In this article, we will take a closer look at both selection and replacement.

What lamps are installed in the VW Polo

Note that the fifth generation of the model, produced from 2009 to 2015 onwards. in the dipped beam it has an H4 lamp; since 2015, after restyling, they began to install an H7 lamp. Be careful when buying lamps

Update 12/10/17

Led low beam headlights VW Polo

LED lamps are getting stronger and stronger every day. If earlier they were installed in side lights, license plate lights, now LEDs are also placed in the dipped headlights. When installed with high-quality lamps, they provide bright light and good illumination of the road. According to motorists who have installed such lamps, LEDs shine better than halogen lamps.

Advantages of installed lamps:

  • Less heat is generated during operation, as a result of which less dirt remains on the headlight.
  • Manufacturer's Warranty
  • The “jackdaw” has been preserved, and hence the correct light beam
  • Perfectly customizable, the headlight range control also works on LEDs

Thus, after installing high-quality LED lamps, the illumination of the roadway has improved, while maintaining the ability to adjust the headlights and a clear light border. However, it should be understood that not all LED lamps in the dipped beam are capable of giving such a result.

Over time, the brightness of any light source in the Volkswagen Polo gradually decreases. Therefore, sometimes it is necessary to replace the bulbs of lighting devices.

Auto lamps for low and high beams, dimensions, fog lights and turn signals for the Volkswagen Polo must match the model of the car. Incorrectly selected bulbs can heat up the plastic, causing the headlight to dim or deform.

ATTENTION! Found a completely simple way to reduce fuel consumption! Don't believe? An auto mechanic with 15 years of experience also did not believe until he tried it. And now he saves 35,000 rubles a year on gasoline!

The VW Polo sedan uses original VAG 6RU941015 (glory) and VAG 6RU941016 (right) headlights. The kit includes a body, a glass surface and incandescent lamps. Sometimes halogen headlights type 6R1941007F / 6R1941008F or 6C1941005A / 6C1941006A can be installed.

For the Polo sedan model, H4 standard halogen bulbs are used, which have two filaments. In lighting devices, various light bulbs are installed, which differ in parameters, shapes, dimensions. The highest indicator for the dipped beam luminous flux is 820 lumens. Popular brands that produce light sources for this car are Phillips, Valeo LYNX, Narva.

The remaining elements of lighting equipment (alarms, instrument lighting and control units) are illuminated by LEDs, which have a long service life and can be replaced as part of the assembly.

Replacing lighting equipment on VW Polo

To replace the lamps in a Volkswagen Polo car, you will need a tool:

  • Wrench No. 10;
  • Torx wrench T-25, 27, 30;
  • Hook from the car kit;
  • Screwdriver with a flat end;
  • Gloves;
  • Napkin;
  • New light bulbs.

Blokfara

In this Volkswagen model, the biggest difficulty is the replacement of low beam lighting equipment. To complete this task, you will have to remove the headlight. Replacement is carried out in the same way on both sides:

  • The power supply is disconnected from the head light;
  • By pulling the tongue of the rubber protection, the anther is removed;
  • The block headlight is taken out of the niche;
  • The protective cover is dismantled, the light bulb is removed from the block headlight housing.
  • The dipped beam lamp is replaced, the subsequent assembly is performed in the reverse order.

When performing such work, you need to remember that there are halogen bulbs in the node. When performing work, it is impossible to touch the glass shell with your hands, as traces may remain, which will lead to the darkening of the bulb when heated.

But more and more often lately, LED bulbs are put in the dipped headlights. They provide bright light and illuminate the road well.

Replacing the light source in the turn signal is performed in the following sequence: turn the cartridge clockwise if the bulb is installed on the right side, and counterclockwise in the left block headlight; remove the bulb, install a new one and assemble in reverse order.

We replace the light bulbs as follows:

  • Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise;
  • We take out the cartridge with the lamp from the body;
  • We replace the lamp and install everything in place.

Anti-fog headlight

The light bulb can be replaced by various methods: from underneath the car or by removing the headlight. The first method is performed on a flyover or viewing hole.
Replacement steps:

  • Unscrew the screws securing the front part of the fender liner, bend the front wheel liner;
  • Press the latch of the power chips, disconnect from the lamp;
  • Turn the bulb counterclockwise, pull it out of the housing;
  • Install new bulb in reverse order.

The fog lamp is removed when the light fixture needs to be replaced or when replacing the front bumper. It is carried out using a special hook from the car kit. Replacement process:

  • Insert a wire puller into the hole for adjusting the headlights, carefully pull out the decorative trim, remove it, overcoming the resistance of the latches;
  • Unscrew the screws securing the foglight with a Torx T-25 key;
  • Remove the headlight so as not to damage the wiring;
  • Press the latches of the block, disconnect the power from the light bulb connector on the back of the headlight;
  • Turn the bulb counterclockwise, dismantle it from the housing with the cartridge;
  • Replace a new light bulb, reassemble.

Side turn signal

Step-by-step instruction:

  • We shift the side turn signal in the direction of the front of the vehicle;
  • We take out the pointer from the hole;
  • We pull the cartridge, pull it out of the case;
  • We change the old light bulb to a new one and install everything in place.

Dimensions

It is performed symmetrically for the left and right lamps:

  • We scroll the cartridge with a light bulb counterclockwise;
  • We take out the cartridge, change the baseless light bulb.

The light source for the rear lights is changed as follows:

  • Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery;
  • Open trunk;
  • Pull the special cutout on the side of the upholstery towards you;
  • Raise the red stopper of the connector with a slotted screwdriver, press the latch, disconnect the wires;
  • Unscrew the fastening nut;
  • Pull the lamp out of the body so as not to damage the paintwork of the car;
  • Press the latches on the lamp holder, remove the platform from the lamp;
  • Unlock the cartridge and replace the light bulb;
  • Snap the cartridge between the latches;
  • Assemble the lamp in reverse order.

For those motorists who want to make the Volkswagen Polo bright, you can purchase LED multi-color chameleon bulbs. They are equipped with two diodes on the sides and are mounted in the marker lamps. Light bulbs shine brightly and saturated, having a power of 2.0 watts.

Lamps used in the car

Any modern car or truck can be serviced and repaired independently, in a regular garage. All that is required for this is a set of tools and a factory repair manual with a detailed (step-by-step) description of the operations. Such a manual should contain the types of operating fluids, oils and lubricants used, and most importantly, the tightening torques of all threaded connections of parts of vehicle components and assemblies. Italian cars - Fiat Alfa Romeo Lancia Ferrari Mazerati (Maserati) have their own design features. You can also join a special group select all french cars - Peugout (Peugeot), Renault (Renault) and Citroen (Citroen). German cars are complex. This applies especially to Mercedes Benz (Mercedes Benz), BMW (BMW), Audi (Audi) and Porsche (Porsch), in a slightly smaller - to Volkswagen (Volkswagen) and Opel (Opel). The next large group, isolated by design features, is made up of American manufacturers - Chrysler, Jeep, Plymouth, Dodge, Eagle, Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Ford, Mercury, Lincoln . Of the Korean firms, it should be noted Hyundai / Kia, GM - DAT (Daewoo), SsangYong.

More recently, Japanese cars have had a relatively low initial cost and affordable prices for spare parts, but recently they have caught up with prestigious European brands in these indicators. Moreover, this applies almost equally to all brands of cars from the land of the rising sun - Toyota (Toyota), Mitsubishi (Mitsubishi), Subaru (Subaru), Isuzu (Isuzu), Honda (Honda), Mazda (Mazda or, as they used to say, Matsuda) , Suzuki (Suzuki), Daihatsu (Daihatsu), Nissan (Nissan). Well, and the cars produced under the Japanese-American brands Lexus (Lexus), Scion (Scyon), Infinity (Infiniti),
