Mitsubishi Pajero IV generation. Mitsubishi Pajero IV generation For Trade-In program

I’ll skip the pain of choosing a car, I’ll go straight to the start of operation

Bought … Options Instyle, black. Of special stages - alarm and rear parking sensors. As a result, it turned out that the parking sensors are absolutely not required - the rear-view camera is enough for the eyes day and night. Instyle chose because of the presence of a rear diff lock, which distinguishes the Pajero from the mass of similar cars.

First impressions: the feeling of a big, serious car, although the handling and the feeling of dimensions did not suffer at all. A lot has been written on the topic of Pajero's shortcomings and, as I was convinced, almost all of this is really present, in order of importance:

1. Hard. All potholes of asphalt, each crack are transferred to the body ... Discomfort is especially felt on summer tires. After changing to winter, the car becomes much more comfortable and it becomes clear that the summer is really tough! Part of the discomfort disappears when the machine is fully loaded.

2. creaky. After a month of operation, the dashboard began to creak at the junction with the central tunnel. Eliminated with an insert from a window seal. During the separation of one of the wheels from the ground, the body creaks. Its rigidity is really insufficient and approximately the same as in the VAZ. This is especially pronounced in winter, when ice flies off with a roar when the body moves. Passengers in a slight panic ... Still, an SUV needs a frame!

3. Driver's seat is uncomfortable. I’ll note right away that I’m not thin and I’m 185 cm tall. It would seem that with so many adjustments, you can always comfortably sit behind the wheel, but no matter how much I buzzed the servo motors, the feeling of inconvenience did not disappear. The seat is short, the back is narrow, from the headrest to the head about 5 cm. The lumbar support adds nothing but inconvenience IMHO.

4. Unreliable fastening of glass doors. Half-open, they dangle in the doorway. I did not like that water gets into the door from the glass - the seal does not save from it. This was not even at the VAZ.

5. On-board computer is uninformative. I'd say he's terrible. For VAZ, I bought a Sitronics computer or something like that. So, he gave out three times more parameters. There are no indications such as instantaneous consumption, engine temperature, internal air temperature, point-to-point path, etc. on the Pajero. Some measurements are reset every 4 hours. As a result, pressure readings are practically useless. It is not known where the outdoor temperature sensor is installed, but it constantly lies ... It is not clear why such a compass is needed? Back gate flimsy. More precisely, the flimsy loops of its attachment, they are not commensurate with its mass and size ...

7. Did not like the operation of the automatic air conditioner. It's hard to find a comfortable temperature. It is also problematic to set a comfortable temperature in the cabin in winter, not including climate control. By setting the regulator to a minimum of 15 degrees, we get outboard air. If you raise the temperature by one division - up to 15.5 degrees, it becomes hot.

8. Weird wheel arch design. After a trip through clay and chernozem, 10 kilograms of “plasticine” are stuffed into “special” sedimentation tanks for mud. It takes half an hour to wash it out.

9. Poor quality leather seats and steering wheel trim. Whose skin it is is unknown.

10. Very weak paintwork.

The advantages include:

1. Really high permeability. It even becomes boring ... Even on standard tires, I crawled through the black soil everywhere. The clearance allows you to walk along the track after the UAZs freely. However, without a track on standard tires, the car chatters mercilessly right up to the turn across the road - I will change it to Continental CrossContact AT - there are such in their native size. In winter, the cross-country ability is also excellent, however, due to the large mass of the car, when the car is sloping, the car may not move from its place on the ice.

You can talk a lot about the need to lock the rear differential. The manager in the salon convinced me for a long time of his very rare use. However, in the very first week of operation, I managed to get into a situation from which I got out only thanks to him ... The car on the rise jumped into a rut deepened by water after a downpour, and sat on its belly. Three wheels hung in the air, more than 10 cm under the front left, more than 20 under the right ones. It should be noted that the design of the Pajero bottom is well thought out. The car sits on the muffler, tank, crankcase protection and stiffener under the center of the car. All these elements are installed in the same plane. No plastic parts and aggregates touch the ground. So, the car went back on one wheel after locking the rear diff!

2. Controllability. Taking into account that the Pajero is better controlled than the VAZ 2115, we can say that for such a large and tall car, the handling is at its best. Turns at a speed of 90-100 km / h - freely, the roll is very slight. It reacts normally to sudden changes from lane to lane (the habit remained after the motorcycle). The stiffness of the suspension also has a positive effect when driving on a dirt road - the car does not shake, you can move at speeds above 70 km / h along a road littered with pits. It handles well on a winter road, not reacting to snow and ice crusts.

3. Huge trunk. Haven't been able to download it completely yet.

4. Plenty of space in the cabin. The passengers in the back row are delighted.

5. Excellent light. Moreover, foglights make their tangible share.

6. Excellent stove. Diffusers with an air duct allow you to direct the air in the right direction. The front glass defrosts very quickly.

7. Excellent rear-view mirrors - like monitors. The only thing that is poorly visible is the area directly behind the car. Small cars can be overlooked and crushed ...

8. Lots of light in the cabin - no problems.

Separately, I will say about the engine. I will not write about the reliability and maintainability of the 6G72 engine - you can read about this on the net. Didn't notice any difference in traction between 92 and 95. I fill it with 92. In winter, it starts up perfectly. Much or little traction? The algorithm of the automatic transmission does not give an unequivocal answer to this question - it does not make it possible to suddenly accelerate. From the moment you press the pedal to acceleration, it takes a couple of seconds. There is practically no possibility to adjust the intensity of acceleration, at least I have not found it yet. The algorithm is this - I pressed the pedal, 2 seconds passed, the machine switched the speed down, the car started to accelerate, I drowned it again, another 2 seconds passed, another speed down - and already significant acceleration. Total loss - 4 seconds. If you drown immediately to the floor - the howl of the engine and the lack of acceleration. Automatic transmission is adaptive. She has adapted to the unhurried acceleration and does not want to reconfigure.

The engine power is definitely enough in the city - you can always perform a sharp maneuver in a difficult situation. Outside the city, in principle, it is also enough, but there is a feeling of lack of ease of acceleration. From a place, the car accelerates not like a hurricane, but this is not critical. And the acceleration from 80 to 130, which is required when overtaking, the car produces without problems. 130 km / h the car goes without strain. More than 170 km / h did not accelerate. At such a speed and not quite a flat road (Russia, however ...) Padzherik ceases to repeat the geometry of the roadbed and becomes a low-flying suitcase, which is not very comfortable ...

About expense. Outside the city: from 9 to 16 liters, on average 11-12. The layout is as follows: 70-85 km / h - 9l; 85-100 km / h - 10l; 100-110 km / h - 11l; 110-120 km / h - 12 liters and then + 1 liter for every 10 km / h. In the city, using the example of Moscow: along the Moscow Ring Road and major highways with small traffic jams - 14 liters, in the center along lanes and traffic lights with traffic jams - 18-22 liters, in a traffic jam at a speed of 5 km / h - 30 liters. On all-wheel drive, consumption increases by 1 - 1.5 liters. So the motor is quite voracious ... For 4 months of winter, the average consumption was 16 liters on the computer. This is mainly in the city with traffic jams and occasional trips out of town.

After a manual gearbox, the fact that the degree of engine loading is not felt is depressing. The problem is very felt, for example, in deep snow. The car goes, but whether the engine is raped or not, it is not clear ... As a summary: I chose a car, focusing on reliability and cross-country ability - this is what I got. But comfort is a bit lacking... If I had a choice now, I would take the LC Prado 150, although it is a very similar car, there are even absolutely identical interior and exterior details. Only because of the softer suspension.

A year has passed... Mileage 16500 km. What can I say now? I changed summer tires to Continental ContiCrossContact AT and the car became much more!!! softer. Although the noise from the rubber has increased, but the comfort cannot be compared with the standard all-season - a completely different car !!! Already Prado is not needed;-))) True, the consumption has increased slightly. The car's patency has not changed globally - the rubber is also washed out after 15 meters of black earth gauge. I think this will be the case with every AT rubber. In principle, the only concern is the uncontrollability of the car on a dirty road - sometimes it is very critical - you can fly somewhere. And the cross-country ability is quite enough - for all sorties into the mud, the car has never skidded !!! Maximum - the crunch of the electronic traction control system.

About squeaks- the interior creaks only in winter. I got used to the driver's seat and the on-board computer. On bumps, a gravel grader, they slap the doors - it's unpleasant. The interior plastic is very prone to scratches - in one place it was erased after the paper was transported !!! boxes. Fuel consumption average 13 liters in summer and 16 liters in winter. I confirm the fragility of the windshield. In the bustle, by chance, a janitor without a brush pounded on the glass - an asterisk appeared. True, I have been traveling with her for six months. At the VAZ, such things went without consequences ... We managed to load the trunk ;-))) when traveling to Karelia.

A weak point in the geometry was found - between the metal of the bottom and the skirt of the rear bumper there is a clearance of 20 centimeters. This is enough to tear off the bumper during an assault on various swamps, etc. You need to do something to close these centimeters. Otherwise, everything is fine! In general, I like the car. And the more mileage on the speedometer, the more!

2 years have passed...

Mileage 39000 km.

In addition to the above, I will try to ease the agony of choosing an engine. I can say the following with full responsibility:

1. Engine power and box settings are more than enough for city driving.

2. Outside the city, you can easily move up to 150 km / h. Those. from any speed, the car accelerates quite quickly to 150, and this is with the gas pedal not fully pressed. After 150, you won’t get a sharp acceleration, although you can dial 180, but it will take up to a kilometer of acceleration.

3. With a sharp acceleration, the automatic transmission goes to 3rd speed and quickly accelerates the car. However, if you press the pedal, the automatic transmission will go to the second one and a few seconds of howl without acceleration will be provided. Then again 3 and acceleration. In extreme moments, it can let you down ...

Oh, and one more thing - the Mitsubishi service, compared to the VAZ one, sucks. Disdainful attitude towards the owners, disregard for requests to check this or that unit. They will check, they will definitely rip off money for it and say that everything is within the normal range. And so on until the unit collapses completely ... (((

This car is truly legendary - the history of this SUV dates back to 1982, but the fourth generation in question entered the assembly line in 2006 ...

Since then, the "fourth Pajero" has been repeatedly updated - it underwent the first noticeable modernization in 2011.

And in 2014 (at the Moscow International Motor Show) the premiere of the Mitsubishi Pajero "2015 model year" took place - after which it almost immediately entered the showrooms of official Russian dealers of the brand.

Mitsubishi Pajero is a classic brutal SUV that stubbornly refuses to switch to modern design standards. The exterior of the Pajero 4 is quite simple and unpretentious, but at the same time it evokes a feeling of structural reliability and confidence in superiority over other cars due to massive design elements, large rims and high ground clearance.

As part of the restyling of 2014, he received: new rims, a new design of the radiator grille, as well as a front bumper with integrated LED daytime running lights and fog lights of a new form, and at the rear, the designers refreshed the spare wheel cover and ... this is the end of the external transformation of the car.

The length of the "fourth Pajero" is 4900 mm. The wheelbase of the SUV is 2780 mm. The width and height are allotted for 1875 and 1870 mm. Ground clearance, depending on the version, is 225 or 235 mm of ground clearance.

The off-road vehicle is capable of fording up to 700 mm deep, storming slopes with an approach angle of up to 36.6 degrees, and also towing a trailer (equipped with brakes) weighing from 1800 to 3300 kg (depending on the type of engine).

The curb weight of the 4th generation Mitsubishi Pajero ranges from 2110 to 2380 kg, and the total weight is 2810 ~ 3030 kg.

The five-seater (optionally seven-seater) interior of this car echoes the exterior - it is quite simple in design, devoid of bright and pretentious details, stylish inserts ... but at the same time it looks quite presentable and of high quality - due to the high cost of the materials used in the decoration.

In terms of ergonomics, the cabin is very good - excellent visibility and easy access to all controls are provided from the driver's seat. The only negative is the lack of steering adjustment for reach, which is why you have to reach for it.

Another “weak” point of the Pajero cabin is sound insulation, the lack of which almost all fourth-generation car buyers complain about ... As part of the latest modernization, sound insulation was improved - so “one problem became less”.

It remains only to add that the trunk of an SUV is capable of taking on board 663 liters of cargo (in a five-seater configuration) or 1790 liters (with the second row of seats folded down).

Specifications. At various times, the fourth generation Mitsubishi Pajero was offered on the Russian market with three power plant options - two gasoline engines and one diesel:

  • The “youngest” is a 6-cylinder V-shaped engine “6G72”, having a working volume of 3.0 liters (2972 cm³), a 24-valve SOHC timing and an ECI-Multi distributed fuel injection system. It is adapted to AI-92 gasoline, is well tolerated by Russian frosts and is capable of developing up to 174 hp. maximum power at 5250 rpm, as well as about 255 Nm of torque in the range from 4000 to 4500 rpm.
The Pajero SUV does not endow this motor with outstanding dynamics: with a 5-speed manual transmission, the starting acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes 12.6 seconds, and with a 5-band INVECS-II “automatic” it takes 13.6 seconds. In both cases, the "maximum speed" does not exceed 175 km / h. And his fuel consumption in the combined cycle (for both types of gearboxes) is ~ 12.5 liters per 100 km.
  • The 6G75 petrol flagship also has 6 V-shaped cylinders, but its working volume is 3.8 liters (3828 cm³), and the equipment includes: 24-valve timing, ECI-Multi distributed fuel injection and the MIVEC variable valve timing system . The maximum output of the flagship is 250 hp. at 6000 rpm, and the peak of its torque falls at around 329 Nm, available already at 2750 rpm. As a fuel, the 6G75 engine prefers AI-95 gasoline, and is aggregated only with a 5-band “automatic”.
This combination allows you to accelerate the SUV from 0 to 100 km / h in just 10.8 seconds or reach a “maximum speed” of 200 km / h. The average consumption of gasoline in the combined cycle is about 13.5 liters. Note that on the 2006-2009 Mitsubishi Pajero, the 6G75 engine had problems with main liners and catalysts, which the manufacturer successfully eliminated in the future.
  • The only diesel "4M41" has 4 cylinders in-line layout with a total displacement of 3.2 liters (3200 cm³), a 16-valve chain-driven DOHC timing belt, Common Rail Di-D electronic direct injection, as well as a turbocharging system - which allows it to develop up to 200 hp maximum power at 3800 rpm, as well as about 441 Nm of torque already at 2000 rpm. Like the petrol flagship, the diesel engine is paired only with a 5-band "automatic" INVECS-II, which has electronic control (allowing you to adapt to the driver's driving style).
The diesel unit is capable of accelerating the car to 185 km / h of maximum speed, while spending about 11.4 seconds on the starting spurt from 0 to 100 km / h. As for fuel consumption, in the combined cycle, the diesel consumes about 8.9 liters per 100 km. "4M41" is a fairly reliable motor, tangible problems begin to appear only after 100 - 120 thousand km. mileage, when the engine becomes more sensitive to fuel quality and the high pressure valve starts to act up.

Mitsubishi Pajero 4 is built on a reliable off-road platform and in all trim levels is equipped with a Super Select 4WD II permanent all-wheel drive system based on an asymmetric central differential with automatic locking (viscous coupling) or forced mechanical locking (not available in initial trim levels). In addition, the SUV is equipped with a 2-speed transfer case, and in versions with top-end petrol and diesel engines, it additionally receives a lockable rear differential.

The off-road properties of this car have been repeatedly confirmed by the success of the car in various rally races, including 12 titles of the winner of the Dakar Rally. But it is worth remembering that without the included lock on rough terrain, the Pajero does not feel so confident, because the electronics (stabilization system) cope with their duties too “strictly” - not allowing you to step on the gas at the slightest diagonal hanging.

The suspension here is completely independent, spring. The front is built on the basis of double wishbones, and the rear is based on a multi-link system. Ventilated disc brakes are installed on all wheels of the SUV, while reinforced 4-piston calipers are used in front, and parking brake drums are integrated into the rear wheel mechanisms. The rack and pinion steering mechanism is additionally equipped with a hydraulic booster.

The suspension of this SUV is quite “tenacious”, it tolerates Russian roads normally (no worse, but no better than competitors in the class). The weakest point is the bushings of the front and rear stabilizers, which can withstand no more than 50,000 km of run. The situation is much sadder with the brake system - where both pads and brake discs are subject to rapid wear.

Options and prices. The Mitsubishi Pajero SUV in 2017 on the Russian market is available in 3 equipment options: “Intense”, “Instyle” and “Ultimate” (all exclusively with a 3.0-liter V6 petrol and 5-speed “automatic”).

Already in the base, the car is equipped with: 17-inch alloy wheels, halogen optics, rear fog lamp, heated and electrically adjustable side mirrors, ABS, EBD, BAS, BOS, ASTC systems, front airbags, central locking, immobilizer, height-adjustable steering speaker, fabric interior, heated front seats, on-board computer, power windows, audio system with 6 speakers, climate control, cabin filter and full-size spare wheel.

The cost of the 2017 Mitsubishi Pajero starts at 2,799,000 rubles, and for the “top-end” equipment you will have to pay at least 2,999,990 rubles.

The fourth-generation Mitsubishi Pajero has been mass-produced since 2006. In 2012, a restyled version of the SUV was introduced. The emergence of a new generation of Mitsubishi Pajero gave birth to a lot of controversy. What is this? Absolutely new model or deep modernization of the previous one? And yet, the Mitsubishi Pajero 4 is the result of the modernization of the third generation SUV. Guesses are confirmed by the external and technical similarity of cars, as well as common "sores" and the same resource of units and systems.

Engines

Under the hood of the fourth Pajero, there are often gasoline aspirated engines with a working volume of 3.0 liters (6G72, 178 hp) and 3.8 liters (6G75, 250 hp), as well as a “diesel” engine with a working volume of 3.2 liters (4D41, 170 HP). On Pajero IVs imported from the Persian Gulf, a 3.8-liter gasoline engine is a rarity, as are 3.5-liter engines (6G74, 202 hp).

The 3-liter petrol unit in the line of engines has the most innocent autobiography. Such an engine is characterized as the simplest, most reliable and hardy. In addition, he easily digests the 92nd gasoline. True, the dynamics of an SUV with such an engine leaves much to be desired, but off-road it is not so important. Petrol 3.5 l, in terms of reliability, also does not have a reputation for being capricious. And the weight of an impressive SUV for its 202 “horses” is still a lot.

The flagship 3.8 liter with the MIVEC variable valve timing system gives the Mitsubishi Pajero decent dynamics. The engine is generally reliable, no surprises. But it was not without one unpleasant moment. In the period from February 1 to May 21, 2008, a software failure occurred on the assembly line of motors of the TR series. As a result, the robot installed crankshaft bearings smaller than the required size. Consequences? Complaints of owners about knocking in the engine and the replacement of the "short block" or the entire engine under warranty. The cost of a short block is about 110 - 120 thousand rubles. More often, the problem manifested itself after 10-20 thousand km, but it could appear later - after 40-70 thousand km. Symptoms of the disease were knocks, which are distinguishable with an increase in speed over 1000-1500 rpm, which are similar to the sound of a secant exhaust. Oddly enough, but with similar symptoms, individual copies of the 2007 release, with a mileage of more than 100 thousand km, also fell on the operating table of the engine engineers. Diagnosis - oil starvation and rotation of the crankshaft liners. It was possible to return the engine to life after replacing the crankshaft and liners.

With a run of more than 80-120 thousand km, the operation of the MIVEC system may be accompanied by excessive noise / rattling, audible with an increase in speed. This is a feature of the system, and noise does not progress with increasing mileage.

Several copies with a 3.8 liter engine fell victim to dampers - they fell into the cylinders due to loose screws. This problem is familiar to third-generation Pajero owners with the same engine. As a preventive measure, when replacing spark plugs with TO 60, put the damper mounting screws on threaded sealant.

Gasoline units have a timing belt drive with a recommended replacement interval of 90 thousand km. A new timing kit will cost 10-12 thousand rubles, and the work to replace it will cost about 8-10 thousand rubles.

With a run of more than 120-150 thousand km, a radiator may leak. The original will cost 20-25 thousand rubles, the analogue is cheaper - 3-5 thousand rubles. Catalysts serve over 150-200 thousand km.

Turbodiesel 4D41 is demanding on the quality of diesel fuel. The first problems may appear after 60-100 thousand km. The reason is the failure of the high-pressure valve in the high-pressure fuel pump or the pipes clogged with soot connecting the sensor on the fuel filter bracket to the intake manifold. At the same time, Check, ASC OFF lights up, traction decreases, and when shifting gears, the box twitches. Nozzles, as a rule, go over 100-150 thousand km. The cost of a new nozzle is about 30 thousand rubles. Around the same time, the EGR valve will require cleaning. Dealers charge about 13 thousand rubles for this procedure. Although you can find a new valve for 8-10 thousand rubles. With a run of more than 120-150 thousand km, the upper damper and chain tensioner are often surrendered. About 15 thousand rubles will have to be paid for the replacement.

Transmission

Pajero IV gearboxes are reliable, and there are no complaints about them. "Automatic" requires an oil change with a filter change every 90 thousand km. Some owners note the appearance of shocks on a warm automatic transmission when switching from 3rd to 4th gear and vice versa - with a run of more than 100-150 thousand km. These symptoms do not develop and there are no malfunctions.

Mitsubishi Pajero's "signature feature" is the backlash of the cardan in the rear gearbox. At the same time, when you release or press the gas, a knock is heard. To eliminate the knock, you will need to replace the rear gearbox and driveshaft, which is very expensive. Yes, and there is no guarantee that after 20-30 thousand km the knock will not appear again. Over time, the rear gear begins to howl. But there is no reason for concern - another feature.

The front gearbox is quite strong, but still several owners managed to “lay” it on a hard “off-road”. Sometimes the front-wheel drive enable sensor fails. Dealers ask for a new one about 2.5-3 thousand rubles. An analogue in a spare parts store is not more expensive than 1-1.5 thousand rubles.

Cracking in the transfer case may occur due to a malfunction of the manual transmission position sensor. The combination of ASC OFF, ESP signals and a flashing "razdatka" is the result of a battery voltage drop.

Owners of brand new Mitsubishi Pajero IV often note vibration during acceleration, which disappears after 10-30 thousand km. This is how the transmission units are run in.

The outer rear CV joint boot is rented out with a run of more than 100-120 thousand km. It is not sold separately and is only assembled with a half shaft, which will cost a lot. A universal CV joint boot, sold at any auto parts store, will help to get out of the situation.

Chassis

The first suspension element to be replaced is the front anti-roll bar bushings. Their service life is 25-40 thousand km. In addition, they are often the source of creaking in the front suspension. The stabilizer struts go a little longer - 50-70 thousand km. The bushings and struts of the rear stabilizer serve more than 120-150 thousand km.

Wheel bearings, like on their predecessor, are handed over after 100-120 thousand km. For the original hub, you will have to pay about 8-10 thousand rubles, for an analogue - about 5-6 thousand rubles.

Pajero IV front shock absorbers run more than 80-100 thousand km, rear shock absorbers - more than 100-120 thousand km. Often, the silent blocks in the front shock absorbers give up earlier than the shock absorber itself. In order not to change the shock absorber, you can get by with repressing the silent block.

Soured adjusting bolts are a common surprise when trying to adjust the camber on cars older than 3-4 years. The surprise originates from the third Pajero. Well, if the bolts are soured at the permissible values of the wheel alignment angles. If not, then for a start you can try to "soak" the soured bolts. It did not help, so you have to cut the bolts. To avoid surprises in the future, it is better to lubricate the adjusting bolts. This procedure at dealers, together with adjustment, will cost 12-14 thousand rubles, on third-party services it is cheaper - about 5-7 thousand rubles.

The steering rack starts to "rattle" after 100-150 thousand km. A new rail costs about 45-50 thousand rubles. Bulkhead rack will require about 15,000 rubles. Most often, the cause of knocking is the backlash of the “glass” pressing the worm shaft against the rail. It is diagnosed by the backlash of the steering rod in the up-down direction. Tightening the rail will help to correct the situation for a short time. Over time, a creak appears in the area of the anther of the steering shaft on the floor. After lubrication of the assembly, the squeak disappears.

The beating of brake discs with a run of more than 20-30 thousand km is a common phenomenon, well known to the owners of Pajero 3. Sometimes it is possible to get rid of the beating after turning the discs. But there is no guarantee that it will not appear again soon. It is better to replace the brake discs with better analogues.

With a run of more than 100-120 thousand km, it will not be superfluous to revise the calipers, which, most likely, are already starting to wedge due to souring of the guides. The repair kit is not expensive - about 900 rubles. Another common disease is ringing parking brake pads. It is treated by installing springs from the parking brake of the previous Pajero.

Due to the chafing of the ABS wiring insulation by the rear left boot of the drive, the ABS, ASC OFF and “slippery road” warning lights may be displayed. With a run of more than 100-120 thousand km, there is a failure of the brake accumulator. A new one costs about 5-6 thousand rubles.

Body and interior

The paintwork of the body of the Mitsubishi Pajero 4 is quite soft and unstable to external influences. Over time, many scratches and chips are found, which, in addition, begin to bloom. More often, the first "spiders" appear on the tailgate and the bar separating the glass of the rear door. Small pockets of corrosion also occur under the door seal on the window frame. This is another legacy of the third Pajero. The caps of the hub nuts and the frame of the spare wheel cover are also susceptible to corrosion.

Many Pajero IV owners note insufficient body rigidity. This is confirmed by the abrasions of the doorways that appear on cars older than 4-6 years. In addition, the doors “slam” on bumps, and dust gets into the cabin through the seals. Installing an additional seal or strengthening the native helps to correct the situation. Another "design feature" is the dangling right taillight. The reason is the development on the "piston" of the lantern attachment.

A huge windshield often attracts stones like a magnet. New, Russian or Chinese, can be purchased for 5-6 thousand rubles. Often in wet weather, the glass of the fog lights burst. With a run of more than 100-130 thousand km, the thrust of the rear headlight corrector sensor often requires replacement due to a soured hinge. The cost of traction is about 1-1.5 thousand rubles.

On Pajero older than 5-6 years old, equipped with a sunroof, there are problems with the drive mechanism. It is only sold as a set with sunroof. Separately, the mechanism can be purchased at a car disassembly - for 7-8 thousand rubles.

With a run of more than 60-90 thousand km, it starts to creak, and after 100-120 thousand km, the front wiper trapezoid fails. The rear windshield wiper does its job extremely poorly. After a slight modernization of the rear leash of the Russian VAZ-2111 and installing it instead of the native one, the rear window becomes cleaner.

The interior trim plastic soon begins to squeak annoyingly. Common places are the panels around the gearshift levers, the trim above the glove compartment lid and the air duct grilles.

The power front seats may not adjust forward or backward due to worn motor brushes. Over time, the front seats begin to creak. The leather trim of the seats quickly loses its “commodity” appearance, and on the side of the driver's seat it is completely torn. Soon, the skin on the steering wheel also “goes bald”.

On Pajero 4 older than 5-6 years, the stalk cable of wires is often frayed. At the same time, the sound signal stops working in the "0" position, and the airbag malfunction lamp lights up. A new loop costs about 3,000 rubles.

Problems with interior cooling can be caused by a radiator clogged with “road dust” or rotten rear air conditioning pipes. Aggressive road environment kills them in 3-6 years. Many, having decided to save money, simply turn off the rear circuit (5-8 thousand rubles). You can restore the rear tubes for 30 thousand rubles. The best option is special hoses that last longer and are cheaper - about 20 thousand rubles.

Electrical is usually not a problem.

Conclusion

Mitsubishi Pajero IV never got rid of the sores of its predecessor, Pajero 3. But at the same time, it did not lose other important qualities - endurance and reliability. Yes, a weak paintwork, a “sour suspension” and a creaky interior with poor sound insulation slightly cloud the overall perception of the brand's flagship. But reliable engines, gearboxes and transmissions can play a decisive role when choosing an SUV. Undoubtedly, the main competitor - Toyota Land Cruiser Prado - is much more comfortable, but it also costs much more. In terms of reliability, cars can compete with each other.
