The 6.0-liter unit was well adapted to the AI-92 fuel, which it gladly ate about 18.1 liters in the combined cycle of operation.

During the 2008 restyling, the Hummer H2 was equipped with a new engine from the Vortec family. It also had an 8-cylinder V-arrangement and a distributed fuel injection system, but its displacement increased to 6.2 liters (6162 cm3), which allowed to increase the peak power to 393 hp. at 5700 rpm. The engine torque at its maximum at 4300 rpm rested on 563 Nm, which provided the SUV with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in an impressive (with an impressive weight) 7.8 seconds. As a checkpoint, the Americans used a 6-band "automatic" Hydra-Matic 6L80, with which the average fuel consumption of the Hammer H2 was about 15.7 liters.

The legendary Hummer H2 SUV is built on the GMT820 platform, also known from the second generation Cadillac Escalade. Of course, for Hammer, the platform with a modular welded ladder frame was seriously modified and strengthened, making it more rigid and resilient to serious off-road loads. The front end of the Hammer H2 was fitted with a torsion bar suspension with double wishbones and an anti-roll bar. At the rear, the massive body was supported by an independent five-link coil-spring design, which could optionally be supplemented with an optional self-leveling pneumatic suspension if desired. Ventilated disc brakes were installed on all wheels of the SUV. In addition, the H2 braking system was complemented by a 4-channel ABS system as well as a TCS traction control system. The steering of the jeep was equipped with a hydraulic booster. The Hummer H2 received a Borg Warner permanent all-wheel drive with a range-topping and continuous rear axle.

The Hummer H2 was produced from 2002 to 2009. In our country, the assembly of an SUV was launched in 2004 in the city of Kaliningrad. The Russian version differed from the North American one in the absence of a second battery, a factory winch and other additional equipment, which made it possible to make the car more affordable and fit into the driver's category "B" in terms of weight characteristics. From 2005 to 2009, the United States also produced a pickup version of the Hummer H2 SUT. This modification was not officially supplied to Russia.
In 2014, the Hammer H2 can be purchased only on the secondary market at a price of about 2.5 million rubles (+/- depending on the condition and year of manufacture of the car).
