Gorno-Altaisk

2013

Subject: A day without a car.

  1. Introduce students to the holiday “Car Free Day”;
  2. Make students understand that it is possible to live without the help of a car;
  3. Foster a desire to respect nature and actively participate in environmental protection.

Equipment:

Computer and projector.

Preparatory work:

The children should be asked to memorize the poems included in the script in advance.

TEACHER According to statistics, every minute one new car rolls off the assembly line in the world. The number of cars in Moscow already exceeds the critical level of 170-180 cars per thousand residents. In a few years, the streets of the capital may become impassable even for firefighters and ambulances.

1 student:

What kind of holiday is this?
A day without traffic jams and cars!
Get on the bus and go home
Drive or walk?

Yes! And this is just a joy!
The air is fresher than ever!
I don't swear in traffic jams anymore!
If only it were always like this!

1 presenter. September 22nd- This World Car Free Day, during which motorists (and motorcyclists) are encouraged to give up using fuel-consuming vehicles for at least a day; Some cities and countries host specially organized events.

As stated in the articleThe Washington Post, the event promotes the idea of walking andcyclingmethods of transportation, use of public transport, as well as the development of communities with walking distance to places of work and leisure.

Such events bring to the masses the idea of minimizing the use of personal transport; they were held spontaneously in different cities from the beginningoil crisis of 1973, however, in October 1994 at the “International Ciudades Accesibles” conference inToledo(Spain) voiced the first call for the periodic implementation of such projects.

Student 2:

Cars have long filled our lives,
And they polluted the air all around.
They carry large loads far away,
And they give us a lift to our work.
But exhaust gases are thrown into the air,
And they also infect us.
I urge everyone very zealously,
Today, give up machine fun.
Let's spend a day without a car together,
We will immediately show off our success.
Let this day become traditional,
And this will be only the first step.

2 presenter.

In the first two years, Car Free Days were held inReykjavik(Iceland), Bate(Somerset, UK) andLa Rochelle(France); in 1995, the informal World Car Free Days Consortium was created to support such Days. The first national campaign was carried out in 1997 in the UK by the associationEnvironmental Transport Association, the second - in 1998 in France, calledIn town, and in 2000 European Commissionspread the campaign throughout the territoryEuropean Union. In the same year, the European Commission extended the event to a whole week "European Mobility Week", which is now the main event held within the framework of the ideology "new mobility».

Student 3:

We can’t imagine a day without a car,
But before, people still lived somehow.
And they carried very heavy loads,
At the same time, nature was not harmed.
Let's spend the day without cars,
And we will all comply with your wishes.
It will immediately become easier for us to breathe,
And no one will pollute the air with gases.

1 presenter.

In 2000, similar Days began to be held around the world as part of the World Carfree Day program conducted by the organizationCarbusters(Now - World Carfree Network); in the same year, World Days began to be held in conjunction with the Earth Car Free Day program (organization "Earth Day Network").

2 presenter.

The situation is becoming critical, but by no means hopeless. Every year on September 22, many cities around the world celebrate World Car Free Day. For example, in France (the same country was the first to celebrate Car Free Day), the center of Paris is closed to cars on this day, and residents are offered bicycles for transportation, completely free of charge - just leave an ID card as collateral. In many foreign cities, travel on public transport is free on this day.

4th student:

I want to invite you all today,
To deny yourself transport services.
Let's walk at our own pace
We'll all get to work quickly.
And the day will pass without noise from the engine,
We will receive a great charge of enthusiasm.
And on this day there will be no release of gases,
Which, of course, is what we always need.
I congratulate everyone on Car Free Day,
And I wish them to live long.

The promotion takes place in RussiaSeptember 22ndsince 2008. On a car-free day, the capital's authorities reduce prices for public transport by issuing special tickets, but the majority of car owners ignore the promotion. In addition, it is known that events are being held in honor of the action inKursk And St. Petersburg. Since 2009, Car Free Day has been celebrated in the city of Ufa. On this day, a bicycle ride takes place through the streets of the city, which attracts more and more people every year. In 2013, through the city bicycle rental service, the event will take place in Rostov-on-Don.

Student 5:

Today is a day without a car,
Everyone will go by metro!
To unload nature,
We can live a little longer!

2 presenter.

In Russia, only Moscow, Belgorod and Nizhny Novgorod have so far joined the international movement on September 22. However, this does not have a big impact on the situation - in 2009, there were as many traffic jams in Moscow on September 22 as on any other day. What’s encouraging is that officials walked to work that day, some on bicycles.

6th student:

Legs, legs, just like this,
Leave your keys at home
There is a trolleybus, a metro, to the extreme,
It's better to go on foot.
I congratulate the one who managed
Become a “walker” for at least an hour.
Well, let's take a break from the iron horses,
Just like the horses from us!

Student 7:

Today adults and children
They won’t sit in a chair, as always.
The sun is shining on the streets so much,
And the air is fresher than ever.

On foot! Forward to dawn
We walk holding hands.
Let's unload the planet for at least a day,
We will wash away the soot and dirt from it.

Even though we are without a car this day,
We move around.
It doesn't matter women, men,
We all love to walk!

Congratulations on your health on this day,
We will teach each other a lesson.
And for the soul we will leave to everyone,
This is a heartfelt congratulation.

Without motor transport - personal cars, taxis, buses, motorcycles, vans and trucks - it is no longer possible to imagine our cities and highways. Somewhere and for some it is a convenient and sometimes the only available means of transportation, for others it is a source of employment, a standard of prestige, a favorite sport. But there is still one day a year - September 22, when many people consciously and voluntarily give up their favorite car. This unusual action has its own goals and is finding more and more followers. You will probably want to take part in it after becoming acquainted with the “World Car Free Day” movement.

About the promotion

Car Free Day is a symbolic international event, the purpose of which is to remind the international community of the dangers of automobile dominance both for the environment and for each of us. Its task is to demonstrate to the world that at the present stage of technological progress there are comfortable and fast alternatives to motor transport that are almost harmless to the environment.

The World Carfree Day campaign is being held on September 22 in many countries. Its main motto: “The city is a space for life, for people.”

Why is the promotion taking place?

Such an action has many humane goals:

  • Helps reduce, at least for a day, harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
  • Reduces the level of urban danger - according to statistics, about 3 thousand people die every day under the wheels of cars.
  • Promotes the development of public transport: adjusting the traffic schedule, establishing adequate fares, introducing transport units that are comfortable and safe for passengers.
  • Draws the attention of car owners to equally convenient, environmentally friendly transport.

Birth of the movement

The "World Car Free Day" campaign began with a 4-day refusal of motor vehicles in Switzerland in 1973 at the request of the local government. However, the goals of this were by no means environmental - a fuel crisis was emerging in the state. But this was enthusiastically taken up by a number of other European countries and was carried out regularly for more than 20 years. One drawback is that the actions were scattered and were supported only by some cities.

But in 1997, the UK held a nationwide campaign where “Car Free Day” leaflets were distributed and related events were held. The following year, the Kingdom of England was supported by France.

World Car Free Day

Since 2002, with the support of the European Commission, European Mobility Week has been held annually (16-22 September). It ends with World Car Free Day.

What happens on this day? The administrations of many cities are restricting the movement of highways, while at the same time successes are being demonstrated in the arrangement of safe pedestrian zones, convenient bicycle paths, and the introduction of comfortable public transport.

In many cities, bicycle demonstrations are an important event of World Car Free Day. The first such event took place in San Francisco in 1992. 48 cyclists supported her then. Today the number of participants is hundreds of times greater. The largest cycling races take place in San Francisco, Sydney, Budapest, Melbourne, and London.

World Car Free Day, held under the slogan “We do not interfere with traffic. The movement is us!”, is today supported by about 100 million residents of 1.5 thousand cities from all over the world.

Promotion in Russia

The history of the holiday in our country is not so long, but worthy of attention:

  • 2005 year. Belgorod was the first to support World Car Free Day in Russia. The following year, Nizhny Novgorod joined it.
  • 2007 Quite unusually, the action was supported by Yekaterinburg - an event called “Critical Mass” is being held here. Cyclists wearing bright orange capes cruise along the city's main streets. At the same time, roads for cars are not intentionally blocked or blocked. The essence of the movement is to show that motorists and cyclists can easily coexist on the highway.
  • 2008 The action took place for the first time in Moscow. And this is an important stage - according to statistics, if the Russian capital gives up motor transport for at least a day, the amount of emissions harmful to the atmosphere will decrease by 2.7 tons! But, despite the fact that the city administration specially issues discounted tickets for travel on public transport to car owners on September 22, most of them ignore the environmental campaign.

  • 2010 For the first time in our country, an anti-car demonstration was held by supporters of WWF (World Wildlife Fund) - in St. Petersburg, Chita, Tver, Kazan, Tambov, Stavropol, Kursk, Samara and dozens of other large cities.
  • 2016 The World Car Free Day scenario in Moscow was complemented by a five-day event called “Bike to Work.” Those who supported the action were given discounts at bicycle workshops, beauty salons, cafes, etc.

World Car Free Day: events in 2017

By good tradition, World Car Free Day was held in Russia in 2017. What made it stand out this year was the following - it lasted for two weeks, September 11-24. The most active event took place in the capital - on the platform of the newly renovated Luzhniki Stadium. It was preceded by a bicycle parade held on September 17, which attracted about 20 thousand followers. On September 23, a number of interesting and educational events took place on Prestizhnaya Alley:

  • Sports attractions.
  • Bike ride.
  • Show program.
  • Mini-football competitions.
  • Test drive for everyone interested in eco-vehicles and many others. etc.

Also this year, all interested motorists had a chance to win an exclusive silver bracelet with WWF symbols. To do this, you had to post a photo on any of the popular social networks with the hashtag “#carfreeday”, where you get to work or school without your license. Another condition is to supplement the post with a story about your impressions, new transport, routes that you decided to try.

Car-free day in Belarus

The neighboring republic also actively supported the global action - the environmental problems of megacities, especially the appalling quality of atmospheric air, are also relevant in this state. Celebrating World Car Free Day is not just a symbolic event. Research has proven that on this date the emission of air pollutants is reduced by 350 tons!

What happens on this day in Belarus? The following cannot be ignored:

  • Mass planting of trees and shrubs.
  • Free bicycle rental.
  • Drivers who leave their car in the parking lot on this day receive well-deserved incentive prizes at public transport stops.
  • Free travel on public transport when showing a driver's license and a car registration certificate in your name.

The car is the third most widely advertised item in the world. It is second only to alcohol and tobacco - something to think about, isn’t it? At the same time, every year more and more people in progressive countries switch to hybrid and electric vehicles. We hope that in our country, Car Free Day will not be just a symbolic event.

A car has long ceased to be an attribute of luxury; nowadays, for many people it is the most comfortable means of transportation. Today, almost every family has one or even two cars.

Purpose of the holiday

Having an “iron horse” saves a person from having to adjust to public transport schedules and experience the crush during rush hours when getting to work and home. Personal vehicles make it possible to comfortably make various trips and freely organize any activities related to movement.

In addition to the advantages that people are used to getting from using their “iron friend,” there are disadvantages to using it. First of all, this is air pollution from exhaust gases. Experts have calculated that if Moscow residents stop using personal cars for one day, harmful waste into the atmosphere will be reduced by 2,700 tons.

Constant traffic jams are another significant disadvantage of using a car. They not only steal drivers’ time, but also negatively affect their nervous system. The physical inactivity that car lovers suffer from also negatively affects their health. The statistics that provide sad facts about the increase in mortality in car accidents are not encouraging.

World Car Free Day is intended to draw public attention to the problem of the negative impact of cars on nature and human health. He calls for giving up using a car at least once a year and choosing alternative modes of transportation: cycling, public transport or walking.

Story

The very first country to hold a Car Free Day was Switzerland. It was there, in 1973, the country’s government, in connection with the fuel crisis, called on residents to stop using personal transport for 4 days. After this, similar actions took place around the world over the next 2.5 decades.

In 1997, a campaign to stop using cars took place in England. The following year, France held a Car Free Day.

In Russia, the first city to hold a one-day campaign to stop using personal vehicles was Belgorod. This happened in 2005. The following year, Nizhny Novgorod supported this initiative. Moscow has become a permanent participant in this action since 2008.

Holiday traditions

Traditionally, on this holiday people use alternative modes of transportation: by bicycle, public transport, or on foot. In Moscow on this day, travel on public transport costs half as much.

In many cities around the world, bicycle demonstrations are held on this day: cyclists, dressed in bright suits, ride around the city along with motorists.

The media strongly supports the car-free campaign. Doctors on TV broadcast not only about the harmful effects of exhaust gases, but also note the harm caused to the nervous system as a result of constant traffic jams and accidents, and talk about the negative impact of physical inactivity on people’s health. There are also economic benefits when refusing to use a car: you don’t need to spend money on gasoline, repairs, technical inspection, or car insurance. Of course, a complete refusal to use a car is unthinkable for most people, but even maintaining a one-day promotion will help save your budget.

Currently, Car Free Day, unfortunately, is not very popular. But I would like to hope that over time people will appreciate the holiday and begin to support its traditions.

Tatiana Goryacheva

The Car Free Day campaign was first held in Paris in 1998 and has since gained a fairly large number of supporters around the world.

Now “World Car Free Day” is celebrated in many countries around the world.

Today, the number of cars around the world is constantly increasing. Our country was no exception. Now almost every Russian family already has a car, and many even have several.

There is no denying the fact that cars make our lives more convenient. We can't even imagine our life without cars. However, progress also has a downside, a negative side. The air of large cities is heavily polluted by exhaust gases. Another important problem in large cities around the world is constant traffic jams.

The goal of the environmental campaign "Car Free Day": attracting the attention of the general public to the problem of the negative impact that cars have on the environment.

This day is intended to remind people of the existence alternative means of transportation- public transport, bicycle and others. But you can also walk! As you know, walking is one of the essential components of a healthy lifestyle.

Our preschool accepted active participation in the environmental campaign "Car Free Day".

Pedagogical work was carried out in two directions: working with parents and working with children.

For children the following were organized:

"Conversation "A day without a car" and other means of transportation"

For parents:

A call to stop traveling by car on this day;

Today everyone will go to work by subway,

And the usual car will be left in the yard.

It’s interesting to see traffic without traffic jams,

It may be a long way to walk to work without a car.

There is a better option - take a bike,

There has never been a more environmentally friendly transport!

And now cars are all over the place,

We all need the day like air

Without a car!

Distribution of leaflets

We are glad that we took part in the environmental campaign and helped make our air cleaner!

World Car Free Day 2020:

Historical reference.

Opinions vary about where the action, which later grew into a holiday, originated. Some environmentalists argue that the "green" holiday arose as a result of protests in England in 1997, others argue that the event emerged from demonstrations by French environmentalists a year later.

However, it is fair to mention that the first such event dates back to 1973, when environmentalists organized a united European strike against oil corporations.

At the global environmental rally held in 1994, representatives of many countries supported the idea of carrying out various restrictive actions in order to save resources and protect the environment.

If in the mid-90s the idea of “World Car Free Day” found support only in 20 large cities from 5 countries (Germany, France, Britain, USA and Canada), then by the beginning of the 2000s people had to temporarily abandon the car Citizens of 35 countries from more than 1000 cities around the world were ready.

Who celebrates and how.

Any vehicle owner who cares about preserving the environment can join the holiday.

In France, on September 22, the entire center of Paris is completely closed to vehicles (including motorcycles and mopeds). Exceptions are made only for government vehicles.

In Belarus, on this day, trees and shrubs are planted in areas directly next to roads and bus stops. In Minsk, all public transport for motorists becomes free for a day: you just need to present a driver’s license.

In our country, charity bike rides are organized in support of the campaign.

In Russia, in addition to the capitals, residents of 15 large cities are now ready to give up their car for a day.

Fun facts:

  • In most European countries, the number of cars exceeds the actual population of the country;
  • In January 1960, a major accident resulted in the largest traffic jam in history, more than 200 km long;
  • The only person in the UK who does not have a driver's license, but has the ability to drive independently, is Her Majesty. Despite her advanced age, Elizabeth II sometimes uses this privilege;
  • According to statistics, a medium-sized car emits 40 to 50 g of toxic waste for every 500 km;
  • The largest modern car is the Belarusian Belaz model 75710. This monster, weighing 360 tons and carrying capacity of 750,000 kg, has a power of 4,600 horsepower and a gas tank of 538 liters, which is usually used up in one work shift;
  • Today, the most popular car in the history of the automobile industry is the Toyota Corolla. Now more than 35 million copies of it travel on the world's roads.
