Here's a chance what could happen. Reviews about ZAZ Chance. For all occasions

The tram rolled along from the right inevitably, like fate itself. I already saw the distorted face of the carriage driver, literally hanging on the lever of the sound signal - a piercing trill was approaching... A minute ago, my “Chance” stalled at the intersection of the tram tracks and completely refused to move. When I turned the key in the ignition, only a fading pi-i-i was heard from somewhere under the front panel, and there was a suspicious smell of smoke...

The 11-ton carriage, filled with a grateful audience, froze nearby, and I, having given up trying to revive the engine, was already pushing the car to the side of the road. The very first day of meeting the Ukrainian hatchback brought unexpectedly sharp impressions.

Content with little

If someone in Soviet times had said that the Zaporozhets was better than the Zhiguli, he would have been laughed at. But the Lanos, assembled at the same plant from whose gates the big-eared and humpbacked ones once rolled out, turned out to be better than any modern VAZ model. Some Chevrolets still serve in taxis and traffic police, and in terms of popularity, the unpretentious, but unpretentious sedan was second only to Logan. But the contract to use the Chevrolet brand expired, and demand for the car remained high. The idea of keeping it on the market, albeit under a different sign, lay on the surface.

And how well it all started... In the morning, looking at the silver five-door “Chance” for the first time, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t find any shagreen on the paint or uneven body gaps. The change of logo did not affect the quality in any way. The body is still well welded, painted and assembled. And the brainchild of the Italdesign studio still looks quite up to par. A bit rustic? Yes. Without fashionable artistic delights? Undoubtedly. But how is the modern ZAZ inferior to the plump Kalina or the even more plump Priora?

Adding light alloy wheels to it or at least covering the stamped black wheels with decorative caps would even make it look elegant. However, Lanos did not have such aesthetic excesses. And buyers of budget cars are by definition undemanding people, accustomed to being content with little, right?

So don’t be angry that the trunk door of “Chance” does not always open the first time - the lock jams. Get used to the fact that the rear shelf can be removed only by patiently unscrewing the rubber fastenings. Is it boring? Yes, nonsense... But even a huge CRT TV will fit into the hold of a 5-door ZAZ! A Lanos sedan would not be able to perform such cargo feats.

In a word, you need to learn to forgive this car. I hit the steering wheel, which has no adjustments, and is located too close to the seat cushion. I tolerate it. Then it turned out that the driver who dared to grow more than 185 cm would simply rest his head on the ceiling. But for me, with a more modest stature, it will do just fine. By the way, all the ergonomic flaws, as well as the generally not the most luxurious interior decoration, to put it mildly, were inherited by “Chance” from “Lanos”. Why grumble?

But this is something new - a strange gear shift pattern. Remember: the rear one engages to the right and forward, and if you decisively move the gearbox lever to the right and back, you can catch the fifth one. That's exactly what to catch. Some are more lucky, some less. In addition, the lever is tilted back, so that on the second it almost rests on the driver's seat. Hmmm... “Chevrolet” also did not have the German precision of switching, but it was more and more precise.

I turn the key in the ignition, and the interior is filled with noise and begins to vibrate slightly. Sound insulation - minimum. True, having warmed up to operating temperature, the Melitopol 1.3-liter “four” is quieter. In general, the 70-horsepower 8-valve engine is not at all conducive to active driving; it drives smoothly and slowly throughout the entire rev range. Accelerations from 70–80 km/h are difficult, in order to speed up the car to 130–140 km/h, a straight line is needed “from here to lunch.” “Lanos” with a 1.5 liter engine, whose pedigree traced “Opel” roots, drove clearly more spiritedly.

The suspension migrated to the “Chance” from the “Lanos” without any changes. And it is right. It copes well with its duties, although it allows for noticeable body roll in corners and rocking on gentle waves. But the new “Cossack” swallows small holes without problems. It’s a pity that when driving, the vibrations in the cabin noticeably increase. The most unpleasant thing is the itching of the pedals - even your feet become ticklish.

And yet, “Chance” drove, made its way through traffic jams with me, albeit not without effort, but it accelerated in the general flow, braked much more confidently and, best of all, at 34 degrees of heat outside, it bestowed life-giving coolness. By five o'clock in the evening I began to get used to it, but...

Will I get there or not?

You know what happened next at one of the Moscow intersections. The end of this sad story was put by a colleague with a cable, a tow truck, and the persistent impression that the “Chance” with a “Tavria” engine and gearbox was not worth buying given the current quality of electrical equipment.

What's broken? The diode bridge of the generator is just like on my father’s Zhiguli. Only even on the VAZ “classic” there is a light that will promptly warn about a non-functioning battery charging system. There is no such thing in “Chance-1.3”. And even dealers admit that there are a lot of electrical problems.

The base price is 245,000 rubles. (the sedan is another 10 thousand cheaper) - this is, of course, great. For another 18 thousand you can buy power steering, fog lights and front electric windows. Air conditioning is also included in the options list. The same "Kalina" or VAZ-2114 cost 257 and 250 thousand, respectively. Moreover, there is no “fourteenth” with air conditioning, “Kalina” with coolness will cost at least 295 thousand, and “Priora” hatchback is about 350,000 rubles. As you can see, the modern Zaporozhets is really the cheapest.

However, with the Melitopol engine, it will require from you not only the ability to forgive its small, medium and other shortcomings, but also to be prepared for larger troubles. That’s why, if, in spite of everything, you like “Chance”, you need to take it with a 1.5 liter engine for 289–339 thousand. For economy-minded people who can’t bear to travel by metro, but definitely need a new car with air conditioning, it makes sense to take a closer look at the Matiz. And it will be cheaper, and most importantly, you won’t have to guess how you will get to your destination - on your own or “on a tie.”

After selling my old car, taking into account the savings, I had about 8 thousand green money on hand, which should have been enough for the purchase, registration and mandatory things like mats and covers. Since my wife and I are ideological opponents of loans, and we wanted a new car, a list of possible candidates was formed very quickly:

1. Lada Kalina sedan, basic equipment.
2. VAZ-2115.
3. VAZ-2104.
4. Geely CK.
5. Chery Amulet.
6. ZAZ Sens, basic equipment.

In principle, everyone was happy with Kalina and even liked it, except for one detail. I simply couldn't drive a car with that loin design. In the backseat spot, my head hit the ceiling. The four was attractive with its universal body, but was repulsed by its rear-wheel drive and completely archaic design. Both Chinese looked good, but fell away due to a shocking crash test and moral torment over Chinese quality. Sens remains.

The local dealer had cars in all colors, for some reason we liked red. I haven’t driven a Sensa before, but I had some experience with Lanos and Tavria. They didn’t bring back any unpleasant memories for me, and since Sens is a Lanos with a Tavria engine in the most powerful version, it was taken without fear.

I must say I was a little mistaken in my expectations. Somehow I didn’t take into account that Sens is 400 kg heavier. In general, a car with an engine that had not been run-in was in no way invigorating. But a person adapts to everything, and domestic technology quickly gained traction with kilometers. So now I don’t feel disadvantaged. From 70 it’s quite possible to drive in 5th, and on the highway you can maintain your favorite 100 km/h without straining. The fifth gear, which at the whim of the designer is located next to the fourth, also does not create any problems, the car is its own.

The main thing that interferes with comfortable operation is the rear part, which sags strongly under load. Reinforced springs did not significantly affect the situation. In general, the standard mudguards were torn off in the first six months. Instead of them, universal mugs are installed; it is more convenient to clear snow from them.

The spaciousness and comfort of the interior correspond to the class and price of the car. I don't have air conditioning or power windows, but everything I have works fine. The stove heats, it is convenient to control the air flow. The driver's seat on a long journey requires proper seating. I used to keep my left foot next to the brake pedal and it would go numb, but after a few rides I realized that I needed to use the foot rest area and everything would be fine. Behind me, with a height of 183 cm, I sit down on my knees, but I sit down with plenty of room above my head. Wife and children are clear, no problem.

One day I was caught in a very large hail storm and it left a few barely noticeable dents on the hood. For some reason it’s not on the roof or trunk lid. There are no other problems with the body. Chips and scratches do not rust, nothing leaks anywhere.

There were questions about the standard Rosava tires. Firstly, no one at the factory bothered to balance it. Secondly, it was worn out 12 thousand km before the cord. The Nokian I bought as a replacement runs fine.

There were some minor problems during operation, but they were all resolved under warranty. In the first 15 thousand kilometers, the following were replaced: fuel temperature sensor, front right wheel bearing, rubber in the rear right shock absorber support. For a city with no roads, I think it’s normal. Recently, on my own initiative, I replaced the battery because... The old one was disembarked in three days by a signal.

Fuel consumption is approximately as follows. In the city in summer – 8, in winter – 9.5. The route at any time is 6..6.5. The engine and gearbox have been filled with branded synthetic oils since zero maintenance; I use original consumables, they are surprisingly cheap.

The noise level depends on the speed; after hundreds the engine screams. The suspension is long-travel and soft. In combination with standard 13-hole tires, it swallows with a bang. But the car maintains its trajectory well at the permitted speeds.

I'm quite happy with the car and will stay with me for the next three years. Then I hope for something more.

Advantages of the car

Doesn't cause any problems;
purchase and ownership price;
old, but harmonious design;
good corrosion protection and build quality;
quick and convenient transformation (the back of the sofa reclines in parts in one movement);
passable crash test;
comfortable fit.

Disadvantages of the car

Weak and noisy engine;
the gearbox howls when braking the engine;
non-standard inclusion of 5th;
poor equipment;
no cabin filter;
unusable standard tires;
sagging under load;
fragile mudguards;
small trunk.

ZAZ: reviews Reviews of ZAZ Chance June 22, 2014

The car has an idiotic suspension (in terms of repairs), in order to change the front struts you need to disassemble the HUB, and the ball is on RIVETS!!! Again, you can’t remove the rear drums without disassembling the hub - BULLSHIT!!! In the hands of ******* engineers! Low landing, rear doors squeak even with lubrication, eternal hassle with the throttle, and I’ve already changed the front bearings only 39,000.3 times. Conclusion: the car is damp, unfinished, it’s better not to get into it yourself, there won’t be enough swear words.

Advantages of the car

Disadvantages of the car

Suspension engineers.

ZAZ: reviews Reviews of ZAZ Chance May 12, 2014

Excellent, fast, 2500 km in 36 hours - 5 hours for rest. And so on for 3 years. I'm satisfied, 40 years of experience.

Advantages of the car

Affordable price, very low fuel consumption, easy to operate.

Disadvantages of the car

Alexander Mikhailovich, 60 years old

ZAZ: reviews Reviews of ZAZ Chance April 06, 2014

Compared to the Logan, the road holding is worse, but I lifted it by 10 cm, so it’s not surprising that you need to slow down when turning. The interior is also cramped. As for the rest, there are no complaints, if you maintain the car normally and regularly, nothing breaks, you need to change everything on time, lubricate it, etc., and it will drive normally.

Advantages of the car

Cute, streamlined, quite powerful, starts well.

Disadvantages of the car

The car must be lifted immediately, since the low landing and always sitting on the bottom in any rut, it is difficult to pull it out. Raised it by 10 cm, the cross-country ability is excellent, almost like a Duster. The paint on the thresholds is bad, they are peeling, they need to be looked at and treated regularly. The trunk is too small. The antenna freezes in winter. A common problem with the temperature sensor is that the forced air fan does not turn off. Pull out the sensor, knock on it and push it back in, all repairs are complete. Uncomfortable for legs, narrow. In the rear, there is also nowhere for passengers to place their legs, only the dystrophies are comfortable. But the new am for 274 thousand! -inexpensive.

ZAZ: reviews Reviews of ZAZ Chance February 18, 2014

The problem tormented me - it stalled and the speed fluctuated for 2 years, it turned out that the reason was that there was a hose going from the throttle valve to the sensor. They were installed incorrectly at the factory. I swapped them and everything was ok. 4 days - I don’t see this problem.

Advantages of the car

Disadvantages of the car

Stalls at idle.

ZAZ: reviews Reviews of ZAZ Chance February 10, 2014

The check for 5000 came on, not to mention the other shortcomings. The speedometer stopped working at 10,000, the revs fluctuate, if you brake sharply it stalls, then there is a problem with delivery, it fills up when it’s hot, after 10,000 thousand I don’t know what happened, instead of 6 liters it started to eat 12 liters. The speedometer failed at 27,000, the check light is on, so I’ve already driven 10,000 thousand. I live in the Far East, took Chance from Moscow, drove it to the far East, went for diagnostics, it turns out there is no program for it. I had to get off the Internet. I changed the pump - the timing belt, the grenade on the external drive broke the hinge on the lever (on rivets). Compared to the Japanese - it was made by the Japanese with bolts, in general it’s not good, you have to suffer. I decided to sell for 150,000, no one takes it, put it up for 100,000, if they object, I lose 150,000, took it for 255,000, thanks to the “brothers” Ukrainians for the drek.

Advantages of the car

The stove blows hot, the engine is playful due to its power.

This is my first review, and I would like to unbiasedly talk about the experience of owning a ZAZ Chance 1.5 2011 car. This was my first car. When purchasing, I was guided by the following criteria:

Budget up to 200,000 rubles,

The presence of air conditioning and power steering is mandatory,

Low mileage up to 60,000 km,

The car is not older than five years.

June 2015. After examining all sorts of options, both domestic and foreign, my eyes settled on the 2011 Chance 1.5 with a low mileage of 34,000 km and a manual transmission. One owner. The docks are fine. There was no service book. The good condition of the interior, the unworn steering wheel, standard unworn summer tires, a thorough inspection of the car by a familiar mechanic confirmed the fact that the mileage is most likely not bad and the car has been used little. It was decided to purchase this car. There were some flaws in the body, a deformed corrugation on the muffler needed to be replaced, and after haggling the price was 180,000 rubles. In our city, many taxi drivers still drive Chevrolet Lanos, and at that time it seemed to me that this budget car would not cause me serious problems when operating it for at least a couple of years.

Unfortunately, at that time I was still not aware that the Chevrolet Lanos produced in 2005-2010 and the ZAZ Chance, which they began producing after, were completely two different cars in terms of workmanship and operational reliability. But first things first.

First of all, I corrected the discovered jambs and carried out some minor maintenance. The muffler corrugation was digested in a car service (RUB 2,000 + RUB 2,000 labor), the oil was replaced with Shell Helix HX8 5/30 (RUB 1,600 + RUB 400 for labor) and all the filters.

The first minor problem came out two months later. At one point I discovered that the headlight bulbs had burned out, as well as the license plate light. At the nearest car service center, these troubles were promptly eliminated. But while working, the mechanic noticed a problem with the front shock absorbers. After the examination, they were identified and shown to me to be leaking. The replacement cost relatively inexpensively: 4,000 rubles, of which 2,000 rubles. paid for the work.

After another month, something strange began to happen to the engine. The car started starting 2-3 times and stalled at idle. At that time, I had no experience in repairing a car, and especially its engine, and again I went to car services in order to find out and correct the reason. But it turned out to be difficult. Engine diagnostics (RUB 500) showed errors mostly related to the oxygen sensor. Replacing the spark plugs (500 rubles) also did not eliminate the problem. Finally, another technician identified a clogged throttle valve and the need to clean it. I did it quickly (250 rubles for the fluid + 600 rubles for labor), and the car again, as if nothing had happened, stopped stalling at idle.

Autumn came, it was October, and during the first cold snap one “fine” morning, my Chance couldn’t start at all... I called a mechanic I knew, and he gave me the right advice about the battery. I called a taxi, lit the car, and I went back to the service center. There they immediately diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced, as the electrode plates had been destroyed.

I went and bought it, the price was 2650 rubles. and the service center replaced it (400 rubles for the work), and the car started up properly again. Then for the first time I thought that my thoughts about the fact that the car would not require investment were not completely justified. Through good friends, I was advised of a car service that specializes in the repair and maintenance of Chevrolet Lanos/Zaz Chance. Plus, I found the only specialized store in our city where I can buy spare parts for my car. To my surprise and contrary to the words of the former owner, finding these spare parts and consumables turned out to be not such an easy task.

November. The first night frosts hit. And in the morning I really went crazy. The gearbox is frozen. And in such a way that changing gears was almost impossible in the first 5-10 minutes from the moment the engine started. The car warmed up really very slowly, we had to warm it up for 15 minutes and at the same time slowly develop the gearbox so that the oil inside it would spread and “thaw”. Only after that could I start and drive. I tried to warm it up while driving, but it was very uncomfortable, and sensitive jerks accompanied each gear change. I called the service center, they advised me to change the oil in the gearbox to synthetic transmission oil. They say very bad oil is poured into the box from the factory. I left the car with them overnight, in the morning they confirmed my problem, and I agreed to change the oil (RUB 1,450 oil + 550 labor). But the problem was not completely solved. It got better, but in severe frosts the situation always repeated itself.

Regarding the operation of the car in the autumn and spring, I would also like to note the problem of strong fogging of the windows. Even blowing the windows with air conditioning does not completely solve this problem. I always had to carry dry microfiber cloths with me to wipe the glass inside the car. It is very inconvenient and dangerous when, while driving, a car can unexpectedly turn into an aquarium in which nothing can be seen through the windshield or side glass. As for winter use, the car is really cold. Often the stove only warmed up the interior by the time I arrived at work. My attempt to improve the operation of the stove by replacing all the antifreeze with a new one, as well as replacing the thermostat (500 rubles + 300 rubles for labor) did not solve the problem at all. There are no heated mirrors or windshield, so I had to manually clear the whole thing of ice 2-3 times a day.

That same fall, serious problems with the suspension began. I began to notice more and more often that there were extraneous sounds coming from under the wheels and under the hood. Diagnostics of the suspension at 37,000 km revealed the following faults:

The front left wheel bearing needs to be replaced (RUB 900+RUB 1,000 labor)

Replacement of the left ball joint (rivet) is required (600 RUR + 650 RUR labor)

The air conditioner belt deflector roller needs to be replaced (a whistle was detected when the engine is running) (RUB 600+RUB 250 labor)

Front brake pads need to be replaced (RUB 900)

Replacement of front shock absorbers, boot (support cup) is required (RUB 5540+1000+2000 for work)

Clutch replacement kit (RUB 5400+3000 labor)

As for the shock absorbers, it looks like they were supplied to me second-hand at the first service. Stupidly cheated out of inexperience. And I started replacing the clutch at the same time, since it began to grab at the very end, which was not very convenient. The first owner of the car was also inexperienced, so we probably “killed” him between the two of us already at 37,000 km. To be honest, I didn’t spare money for my first car back then; I wanted to keep it in technically sound condition, especially since I often traveled with a small child. I replaced all of the above, although it cost quite a bit of money for such a budget car. Fortunately, for the next six months there were no more problems with the car.

Now about personal feelings from Zaz Chance. In the city, the engine has enough power. On the track everything is more difficult. I don’t recommend accelerating more than 100-110 km/h, as the car begins to scour the lane, is unstable, the engine picks up more than 3000 revolutions and roars. Overtaking trucks is often problematic and unsafe. There is practically no sound insulation in the car. The front parting panel rattles, which does not eliminate the feeling of cheapness of the car. The suspension rattles and bounces on any road unevenness. Looking ahead, I note that most of the suspension elements are consumables that had to be changed frequently. After two years of ownership and spending a lot of money, I still couldn’t get it to work correctly. The design of the car is morally outdated. The interior, however, seemed to me more comfortable and attractive than in domestic cars. The air conditioner blows normally, there were no complaints about it in the summer. The standard tires are oak, both summer and winter. No standard music. The body is galvanized, there was no rust. But by the sixth year I noticed two bugs on the roof. Low beam headlights are terrible, especially at night and in the rain. I changed the light bulbs to more powerful ones, no effect (Philips H4 3200K Vision +30% 400 RUR)

A year after purchase, the problem with the throttle valve recurred. Again the car began to stall at idle. I went to the service center, washed it, everything was fine again. At the same time, I refilled the air conditioner for the fifth year of the car’s life, since it stopped cooling (RUB 1,750). I did the maintenance mileage (46,000 km) with an oil and filter change. I did some diagnostics on the suspension, and problems emerged again:

Replacement of front wheel bearings (RUB 2680+2000 labor)

Replacement of front brake hoses, completely rotted (RUB 740+700 labor)

Replacement of rear brake pads (RUB 1400+850 labor)

Replacement of the outer CV joint boot (RUB 1100+1200 labor)

Replacement of the working brake cylinder (RUB 1020+500 labor)

Got upset. But there was nothing to do and replaced all of the above with new ones. Then for the first time I thought about selling due to the constant considerable investments. And a month later they started knocking again, and then the front shock absorbers started leaking. I went to the service center, and in addition to the shock absorbers, they also ordered the front struts. Plus, the master pointed out the need to replace the cracked timing belt, as well as the camshaft oil seal.

The total was:

Replacement of front shock absorbers (RUB 5540+2000 labor)

Replacement of front support struts (4250 RUR)

Replacing the timing belt with pump (RUB 5270+2500 labor)

Replacing the camshaft oil seal (RUB 210+150 labor)

Another unplanned investment in a car only confirmed my idea of the need to sell it. Having planned this business for spring, as the best time to sell, I began to raise money for a new car, analyzing offers on the market.

In the spring, the standard radio suddenly broke down. I took the cheapest one as a replacement. An unpleasant rattling sound appeared from the front suspension. Diagnostics showing that it is the steering rack. Adjusting it stopped the sound for a while, but I was warned that the problem would likely return. Moreover, the prices for them were called cosmic (about 40,000 rubles). I urgently listed the car on Avito. To my surprise, they took the car within a week for 145,000 rubles. Some Armenian bought it for his brother as the first one. This is probably the fate of this car.

What's the result? The net investment in it over 2 years, including signaling, maintenance, navigator, maintenance, consumables and spare parts amounted to almost 90,000 rubles. that is, half of its market value. In my opinion, this is an outdated car that is neither reliable nor cheap to maintain. I would not recommend purchasing it to people who cannot maintain it themselves, as it is quite expensive.

ZAZ Chance entered the Russian market in 2009, where it immediately found both fans and haters. The car has many disadvantages, for example, a discreet appearance, but besides this, there are also advantages - low fuel consumption. Of course, not all defects are covered, but most owners leave positive reviews after using this machine, and that means something. Details in the video.

In 1997, the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant began producing the front-wheel drive car Chance, located in the budget price segment. Consumers can purchase both a sedan and a hatchback version of this car. It is worth saying that Zaz Chance, which is the name of the representative of the Ukrainian automobile industry in Russia, is called ZAZ Lanos in Ukraine. This model has a lot of distinctive features, there are enough pros and cons, details that cause controversy, but one thing remains unchanged - the enormous popularity of the car in its homeland and in Russia. But more about everything.

Car history

ZAZ became famous for producing Cossacks, who always caused a sarcastic grin from everyone who met these. Of course, the car had a number of advantages, but there were many more disadvantages. But then the unexpected happened and the Cossack suddenly became a foreign car. And a few years later he returned to the Russian markets, but in a completely different guise and with improved technical characteristics.

ZAZ Chance has an interesting history, just to take into account the fact that during its release it changed several names. Initially, in 1997, manufacturers presented it to consumers under the name Lanos, and the car was produced in Korea under the Daewoo brand. At the same time, the car received a C class, in which it has successfully remained to this day. Lanos had three body styles - three-door, hatchback, sedan. After 2002, ZAZ carried out a rebranding, due to internal reasons, and now Chevrolet took over the production, which successfully produced it for seven years, after which the Russian markets became acquainted with the brainchild of the Ukrainian automobile industry, but under the name ZAZ Chance.

A lot of time has passed since that moment, but the appearance and characteristics of the car have remained virtually unchanged. The only improvement is the rounding of the body, which has become more like a drop with “eyes”. Many car enthusiasts agree that if you look at this car in profile, you can see a very distinct face, but, of course, this is not true.

The appearance of the car has become more modern, and in general, it has acquired a more attractive appearance. The quality of materials has stepped forward, and the increased ground clearance helps you easily overcome various obstacles, such as small holes and uneven roads.

What's in the cabin?

Looking inside the car, there is some disappointment, since even visually there is a lack of free space, and if a large driver sits behind the wheel, he will feel very cramped, just like other tall passengers who decide to travel in this car. If you do not pay attention to this drawback, then the ZAZ Chance will still not be a godsend for the car enthusiast, since the steering wheel is not adjustable in any way, and the panel is made of rough plastic. It should be noted that thanks to the monolithic design of the front panel, various kinds of squeaks are eliminated even on cars with high mileage.

Attention! The side mirrors are only adjustable manually. The driver's seat is adjustable only in length.

But we should not forget about the positive aspects that passengers experience when enjoying a trip in this car. For example, air ducts are made for people in the rear seats, which is a nice bonus to the comfortable seats. It is also impossible not to note the trunk, which, although not the largest in its class, is sufficient for most city residents - 322 liters. And if you fold the rear seats, this size will increase by more than one and a half times. Another plus is that in the luggage compartment there is a spare wheel, which comes as standard.

Exterior

The design was developed by specialists from Italy and thanks to this, it still looks presentable. Although many motorists find it outdated, models that look much worse regularly appear on the market. The drop-shaped shape, as well as the small area of the windshield, raises some questions, but nothing can be done about it, what was released went on sale.

The car clearly shows typical signs for the budget price segment. Again, returning to the form, we can say that there is simply no expressiveness. Perhaps the reason for this lies in the fact that Korean manufacturers have made demands on designers not to shock consumers with various experiments. The result is a discreet appearance, but not without its advantages. The theft rate of this car is extremely low, which cannot but please car owners who do not want to part with their car.

But the big advantage of Chance is that every part of the body is covered with a special coating that protects against corrosion, and some parts are galvanized.

During the entire existence of ZAZ Chance, reconstruction of its appearance has never been carried out. The reason for this lies in the fact that in 2008 ZAZ was modernizing equipment for car production and due to financial problems it was impossible to change the design of the car. In the near future, it is planned to make a significant change to the exterior, improve the gearbox and replace the engine with a more powerful one.

Specifications

This car has three main configurations, as mentioned above, hatchback, three-door and sedan. The first two trim levels have a 70 hp engine, but the sedan was luckier and was awarded 86 hp. In the first case, the car can reach a speed of 162 km/h, and accelerates to the coveted hundred in an unacceptable 17 seconds. The sedan can accelerate to 172 km/h and hits a hundred in just 12.5 seconds, which is a normal result for this price class.

Advice. By purchasing a top-end ZAZ Chance you will lose most of the disadvantages inherent in this model.

The biggest advantage is low fuel consumption, only 5.2 liters. 100 km, driving around the city. For many car enthusiasts, this is the most important criterion when choosing, and they will not be satisfied. But people who are accustomed to paying attention to driving comfort will be disappointed. After all, the car's handling is simply terrible. At high speeds, significant vibrations are felt, and when entering a turn, rolls are clearly visible. Uneven road surfaces will make everyone in the cabin suffer, thanks to the suspension.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of this car include:

  1. Comfortable seats for both driver and passengers.
  2. Decent quality of materials used, especially for a budget car.
  3. Large trunk volume.

But, of course, it is impossible to do without disadvantages:

  • poor handling;
  • discreet design;
  • lack of all modern amenities, from adjusting seats on all planes to the presence of air conditioning;
  • terrible driving visibility;
  • uncomfortable steering wheel;
  • cramped interior.

To summarize, we can say that for its price the car has a significant number of disadvantages, which are partially covered by advantages. When buying a ZAZ Chance, you need to understand that the low price (RUB 199,000) comes at the expense of many unpleasant moments that the future driver will feel.

Video review of the ZAZ Chance car

General impression:

[re-inserted from my other report - when I wrote there was no Chance model on the list, the report was started on December 21, 2010 https://cars.mail.ru/reviews/chevrolet/lanos/2009/33964/ ]I kept the report as a car diary - so in the “Disadvantages” field I will continue with the “flight magazine”. A normal family car, the best in its price category, but before buying, keep in mind that you will have to invest a considerable amount to bring the car into combat readiness, albeit gradually. For those who need everything at once and in oil, this is not your choice. It’s better to add 3-4 thousand dollars and take “all at once.” By the way, the car is 2010, it was simply impossible to choose more than 2009 on the list. Those. This is Chance, assembled at ZAZ. Assembly - June 2010. + (added after a year of operation) pay attention to the dealer from whom you purchase the car; unfortunately, my dealer stopped carrying cars of this brand and did not stock spare parts for this car. Now they have one argument that what is under warranty fits with Nexia, but for everything else (headlights, various little things in the interior and body) they do not stock spare parts and do not promise anything. So don’t make a mistake when choosing a seller, this will save your nerves in the future.

Advantages:

195/60 R15 wheels fit on the car without any problems, on such titans it looks like a car of a different class, and the ground clearance is higher and the wheels are wider, the handling is 5+, although the steering wheel is a little harder to turn. ---- added 03/10/2015--- The car's ground clearance is its strong point. will climb where only SUVs can climb)) however, in practice, after 4 years of operation, I am inclined to drive the car more carefully on curbs - there is an assumption that I greatly shortened the life of the radiator by this - impacts on the bumper and the front of the car did not go unnoticed by it) fifth I've been driving for a year and don't want to change yet. strong car! We were flying along the highway, hit a cut-out piece of asphalt (a hole), the impact was severe. a car flew up. We didn’t find anything on the lift later, everything was ok))

Flaws:

I picked it up from the showroom on November 19, so these are the very first impressions. 1. Interior noise. The noise reduction is nasty or it doesn’t exist at all, I don’t know for sure yet. The installation of winter studded tires Cordiant SNO-MAX showed this especially clearly. I think in the spring I will do the noise reduction: you can drive like this, but not without damage to your psyche. 2. I don’t know whether this is subjective or not, but after installing all four “spikes”, an extraneous noise appeared in the front, as if the wheel was rotating. I couldn’t prove to the service that I drove for half a day with these wheels and there was no problem. I contacted a car mechanic I knew - the diagnosis was for the box: there was some kind of wheezing coming from it. In a word, we follow the saying “a good knock will come out.” We'll roll the keme and watch. 3. Fogging of the windows in the cabin was solved by reading a book on the car. I turned off the recirculation - and lo and behold - everything was ok. Those. THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM 4. FUCKING STANDARD JACK. I recommend to EVERYONE WHO BUYED THIS CAR, throw it away and take another one, I took the hydraulics. The original one doesn’t hold it, the car jumped off it - it scratched the threshold (I immediately painted it over), in a word, I gave the creators of this jack a bad word. The sticker on this rubbish is marked "ZAZ", of course. If only they had installed a Korean one, they wouldn’t have disgraced themselves, I think... +4500 hydraulic jack 5. I couldn’t find the hood and trunk trim. As it turned out, it didn’t exist for the rear from the very beginning, but the guys took pity on the hood. When ordering from Lanos, they refused to supply upholstery for the hood, i.e. bazaar and +1000tg Koshma - our conditions do not allow driving without insulation. 6. Some kind of nasty stuff was poured into the gearbox (gearbox), which at -26 did not allow the gearbox lever to move. I scoured the Internet and it turned out to be a common problem that can be solved by changing the oil. Replacement fixed everything. Replaced with Castrol 75w90. + 2500tg. 7. Engine oil, although everywhere they criticize what was initially filled, nevertheless allows you to crank the engine from the key fob at -18 degrees. At 2 thousand I will change to Castrol or Mobile synthetics. +4500-6000tg 8. Initially, the guys on the car “forgot” one halogen light for the fog light and a power fuse. I recommend checking the package in the salon before checkout. The fuse is 500 tenge, the lamp from the officials is also 500 tenge 9. The bracket of the lower part of the rear folding seat was not bent enough - it came loose all the time - it was quickly fixed at the service center. 10. Some kind of detonation with the arrival of severe frosts, perhaps due to fuel, I have not found out yet. Feels like vibration, stronger than in warm weather. When you turn on the rear window heater, vibration begins and radiates into the steering wheel (in warm weather it also intensifies, but at -35 it is especially strong). When you turn it off, there is also vibration, but less. That seems to be all. I don’t think it’s all that scary, rather unpleasant. We'll decide, I'll write as we go. ----------- I’ll write here. according to points 10) the frosts subsided, at -19 yesterday the vibration itself disappeared. It works quietly, there is a slight tremor in the steering wheel and that’s all. those. There are 2 options - either the fuel was not very good, or because of the frost the rubber cushions on the engine became stiff. in any case, not a malfunction, I’m already glad about it :) ---------- added November 14, 2011-- To point 2) - after a year of operation - everything is ok, the noisy Cordiant tires were to blame for that knock Now something new has come out. 1. The gyro booster tube ran (it didn’t even run, but was covered in oil sweat) - they fixed it, it seems like it wasn’t tightened at the factory, or it’s loosening. The technicians said that they were tightening it and the problem would not appear again. Will watch. 2. The rear seats crunch, such a creaking noise on large bumps, I found the reason - in the area of the lower hinges of the vaunted folding seat. While I haven’t fixed the problem, to be honest, over time you stop noticing, given the poor sound insulation of the cabin. 3. The brake pedal and one of the doors squeak, I think it can be lubricated. 4. It seems that the clutch is not fully depressed, I read that on Chances there are sometimes problems with the hydraulic clutch cylinder when you approach 20 thousand mileage (not everyone, of course). In general, I’m driving for now, but sometimes it’s difficult to turn on the speed. It’s difficult to prove anything under warranty; everything is always fine with them, until it doesn’t work and you can poke your nose at it. 5. Now I’m thinking that it would be nice to have such a car with an automatic;) because for some reason the ECU works as if it was designed for an automatic, it delays the speed when changing gears, which affects consumption. I'm thinking about reflashing the ECU. According to my calculations, consumption in the city (I don’t have any on the highway) is around 13.7-14.3 l/100 km on average (with minor warm-ups - I leave it so that I can start the engine remotely at the car factory, the engine runs for a couple of minutes until I’ll take everything from the car and won’t set it off with an alarm). After reading smart articles, I “threw away” 25 bucks on a new idle speed controller from a Chevrolet Niva (they fit 1:1 and supposedly they are bad from the factory and because of them the speed does not drop to idle). Nothing has changed, so I advise you not to engage in nonsense like I did, not to throw money away, but rather change the computer firmware - = 2013 = - changed the front struts in a pair - installed gas-oil ones. Wheel bearing - = 2014 = - changed the tension roller and belt Alternator timing belt - = 10. 03.2015 = - Mileage is approaching 70,000. I’ve been driving for five years now. In December 2014 I changed the clutch - everything is assembled by Valeo (it turned out that the original one was also Valeo). basket, squeezer, ferrido. upon inspection it turned out that the petals of the old basket were strangely curved. hence possible problems with clutch operation. Now after the replacement, everything has been working perfectly for 3 months. In December, I replaced the main radiator (tech). metal-plastic radiator. at the junction of plastic and metal and ran. a standard problem with all such radiators and not only on my car. but ran for 4 years). a couple of rubber pipes were cracked - we cut them and tightened them. This month I changed the tensioner roller of the air conditioning belt - it started to howl disgustingly. the money is a penny - 1000 tenge for a video and 2000 for work. even less than $20. The auto mechanic noticed a slight noise on the alternator and steering wheel, but said that the car would run for a long time with them, without any problems. In terms of consumption, no changes - I still didn’t get chipped (I just somehow couldn’t find anyone who could do this here, in Astana ). I'm running the same firmware. On the highway the consumption is pleasing - 7l. and in the city from 13 to 15. The peculiarity of the ECU program is that the speed freezes, what to do - I drive. In general, there are two shortcomings so far. 1) it’s getting too small, but the family is growing))) and 2) the consumption is too high (but this applies to me personally - mid-2010 onwards - no one has had such problems since 2011)
