Surprise when replacing a side lamp on a Solaris

Replacement may be a little difficult due to the special headlight. Therefore, you may need a surgical instrument.

Such a trifle as replacing a side light bulb on a Hyundai Solaris, for cars of other models, can cause certain difficulties.

Especially if you have no experience in servicing the machine yourself. Solaris also prepared a surprise when servicing the optics, but dealing with it is quite simple.

The Hyundai Solaris front headlights are equipped with:

  • halogen headlight lamps with H4 standard socket, power 60/55 W,
  • direction indicator lamps with a power of 21 W, type PY21W,
  • side light lamps with a power of 5 W with the designation W5W.

The design of the headlight block allows you to quickly replace any of the lamps, but on the driver's side, access to the left headlight is complicated by the fuse box.

You can use diode lamps.

Several years ago, official Hyundai dealers began offering special plastic pliers that make replacing a headlight bulb easier. However, even without them, the operation can be performed in a couple of minutes with your own hands.

Replacing the side light bulb on a Hyundai Solaris

Before replacing the side light bulb on a Hyundai Solaris, you must disconnect the negative terminal from the battery to avoid a short circuit. We will start the replacement from the right side, where access to the headlight is not burdened by anything.

The operating algorithm is as follows:

  1. Remove the plastic cover on the back of the headlight unit by turning it counterclockwise.

To replace the left side light bulb on a Hyundai Solaris, we use the same algorithm, with the only difference being that it is better to use a surgical clamp as a manipulator.

In this case, you do not have to remove the fuse box, and for convenience, you can only remove the plastic cover on this block. In some cases, if it is necessary to replace the headlight bulb on the left headlight, unscrew the two screws securing the headlight unit. This allows you to move it forward as much as possible and easily replace any lamp in the housing.

Parking lights are one of the important functional parts of a car. If they fail, maneuvering while driving will be unsafe. If the signal lights fail or begin to work incorrectly, repairs must be made. Light bulbs may break more often if they have an alarm installed. In this case, you need to know how to replace the side lamp on a Renault Logan.

Required Tools

To make a replacement without outside help, take:

  • rubber gloves (must be worn to avoid damaging new lights);
  • side lights W5W (4 pcs);
  • Phillips screwdriver;
  • keys for 8 and 10;
  • socket head 13 (to remove the battery mounting bar);
  • rags;
  • extension.

Some people neglect to use gloves, but the service life directly depends on this. If you touch a new lamp with unwashed hands, it will fail 5-7 times faster.

Step-by-step instructions for replacing front side lights

The process of how to replace a headlight bulb on a Renault Logan is the same on new and old models - the design has undergone almost no changes. The procedure for the right and left lamps is the same.

Any modern car has a wide variety of lighting bulbs. Some of them illuminate the interior of the car, while others provide visibility on the road. One of these important types of lamps is the side lighting lamp, thanks to which at night or in conditions of limited visibility you can easily distinguish the dimensions of the car.

The process of replacing marker lamps in detail

Some owners remove the block lamp completely, but this is a lot of unnecessary steps. My hand can easily fit into the gap, even where the battery is!

  1. Use the head to remove the headlight unit.

  3. Remove the entire front bumper.
  4. Disconnect the headlight range control cable.
  5. To move the headlight to the side you need to unscrew three screws.

To replace a side lighting element, no additional equipment is required; the process will not take more than 5 minutes.

  1. In order to replace the lamp, you need to open the hood and feel on the headlight unit for the side lamp socket, which is located just below the headlight lamp.

    We took out the socket and tried to remove the burnt out lamp.

LED lamps

Some Loganovods recommend using diode lamps when replacing. They reduce current consumption and improve visibility on the road. We recommend that you pay attention to lamps with at least 13 diodes.

Conventional and LED lamps for side lights

Installing LED lights is no different from conventional ones. And the light from diodes is better, the current consumption is also less. The most important thing is to make the right choice.

  1. Here, before starting work, you will need to disconnect the negative from the battery.
  2. Unfold the trunk lining.
  3. Disconnect the wiring harness from the rear markers.

All car enthusiasts should know what lighting devices are used on their car, and be able, if necessary, to competently carry out the replacement operation. Proper lighting equipment will help you avoid an accident and save not only your car, but possibly your life, from damage.

Replacing side light bulbs on a Nissan Almera G15

Check how your parking lights work by turning on the switch on the steering column. First, decide which size is not working, then check the fuse that protects this circuit, carefully inspect the connection pads and wires. Once you are convinced that it is the size lamp that is faulty, proceed to replace it.

First of all, we recommend removing the boot under the hood that protects the radiator to make it easier to stick your hand into the headlight housing. A tool suitable for this type of work is duckbill pliers with curved ends or a 17mm wrench. To unscrew without problems, shorten the wrench to a length of 5-6 cm.

Place a wrench on the Almera side light socket and turn it, removing the socket outward. Having disconnected, take out the light bulb, check the markings and size, it should be W5W 5 watts. In order not to leave grease and sweat marks on the light bulb, we put on thin medical gloves and insert it into the socket. Together with it, we insert the light bulb in place into the cutout on the headlight unit with our hands and turn it clockwise, fixing it in the housing.

Attention! Do not handle the bulb bulb with your hands; remaining grease marks will cause it to burn out quickly.

Having installed the light bulb, we check it by turning on the side lights, then put the radiator boot in place and close the hood.

Changing side lamps on Nissan Almera N16

We turn the switch and, making sure that the side lights are not on, check the wires, connecting blocks and the fuse in the lighting circuit of the 16th Almera. If there is no damage and the fuses are intact, we proceed to replacing the lamps ourselves. We open the hood, there is a drawing on the headlight cover in which direction to turn to open it. Inside you can see two thick wires going to the lamp; we walk along them with our hands and feel for the socket of the light bulb. We remove it from the headlight housing carefully, but with force, since the collet clamp of the cartridge is held firmly in the headlight housing.

Attention! To remove the cartridge from the housing, pull on the cartridge itself, and not on the wires, otherwise it will be almost impossible to reassemble it.

Bulbs of 12V 5W dimensions do not have a base, are sold in any auto store and their price is 5 rubles. Carefully insert the new lamp into the holder and make sure that it is securely fastened, otherwise when installing the socket into the headlight housing, it may fall out and break. When inserting the cartridge into the headlight housing, use appropriate force to avoid damaging it.

Do not touch the side lamp bulb with your hands; remember, any dirt means the side light will fail. Check with the switch whether the lights are on or off. If they started to burn, then you did everything right. Actually, this is how the side lamp of a Nissan Almera classic is replaced.

Conclusion

Summarizing the above, it is clear that replacing side lamps is not such a difficult operation and with even a little skill, it is quite possible to carry out all the necessary actions on your own. The main thing is not to forget that faulty lighting equipment dramatically reduces safety and leads to an accident.
