Inexpensive Mitsubishi Lancer X sedan. Second hands: Mitsubishi Lancer X – where is the Japanese quality? Mitsubishi lancer 10 new

Mitsubishi Lancer X (Mitsubishi Lancer X or Mitsubishi Lancer 10) is a front-wheel drive golf-class passenger car. It has been produced since 2007 in two body styles – sedan and hatchback. At the time of the start of sales of the Mitsubishi Lancer 2007 model, the price of the car in the basic configuration was $14,800.

The world premiere of the new generation Mitsubishi Lancer in 2007 took place in two stages. In early January, the 2007 Mitsubishi Lancer appeared before the American public at the International Auto Show in Detroit (Michigan). At the same time, American sales of this car started. Europeans became acquainted with this car a little later. The debut of the 2007 Mitsubishi Lancer in the Old World took place in March at the traditional Geneva Motor Show. In April, the Lancer 10 2007 edition appeared in the showrooms of European official dealers. In Britain, you had to pay from £8,850 to own this car.

Mitsubishi Lancer X – model features:

New gasoline and diesel engines from the MIVEC family;

Reinforced body created using RISE technology;

Comfortable interior;

Updated active and passive safety systems.

The design of the Mitsubishi Lancer X was developed by the famous Italian studio Pininfarina SpA (Pininfarina Spa), which made a name for itself through half a century of cooperation with Ferrari. Family traits are clearly visible in the silhouette of the car. And at the same time, it looks cozy and elegant in an Italian way. The car's interior combines European comfort and Japanese organization. Optimization of the Lancer X driver's seat is rightfully considered a benchmark among C-class cars. The price of Mitsubishi Lancer 2007 at the start of sales in Russia started at 528,000 rubles.

Mitsubishi Lancer X: car evolution

The 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer lineup included a 5-door hatchback. This car was presented at the Paris Motor Show and immediately caught the fancy of Europeans, who traditionally prefer this body type. Despite the fact that the price of the Mitsubishi Lancer hatch in 2008 jumped by €2,450 compared to the sedan, this model sold like hot cakes in the Old World. Thanks largely to this, the total number of sales of the Lancer model by the end of the first decade of the 21st century exceeded the six million mark. In the USA, the 2008 Lancer 10 hatchback also acquired an impressive army of fans. In North America and Europe, this car is sold under the Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback badge.

The European engine range of the Mitsubishi Lancer 2008 included one turbodiesel and three gasoline internal combustion engines. The gasoline line looked like this:

15MIVEC is a four-cylinder 109-horsepower naturally aspirated engine with a displacement of 1.5 liters. Average fuel consumption (A95 gasoline) in the combined cycle is 6.3 liters per 100 km. The transmission of Mitsubishi Lancer X cars with this engine is only a 5-speed manual gearbox. The dynamics of acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is 12.6 seconds. The 15MIVEC engine was used from 2008 to 2010. It was discontinued due to non-compliance with Euro 5 toxicity standards.

18MIVEC is a naturally aspirated in-line four-cylinder petrol engine with a power of 143 horsepower and a volume of 1.8 liters. The fuel consumption rate in combined mode is 7.1 liters per 100 km. For the aggregation of torque in a car with this configuration, either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT is responsible. Acceleration 0-100 km/h – 10.8 seconds.

20MIVEC – two-liter 155-horsepower DOHC naturally aspirated engine. This engine is designed to work in tandem with both a 5-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission. With an average fuel consumption of 7.6 liters per 100 kilometers, Lancer X with this internal combustion engine is capable of accelerating from zero to hundreds in 9.8 seconds.

In addition, for cars intended only for the American market, a 175-horsepower naturally-aspirated engine with a volume of 2.4 liters adapted for low-octane gasoline was specially developed. On average in the USA, the price for a Mitsubishi Lancer 2008 in this modification reached $16,400.

Important information: MIVEC technology allows you to synchronize the operation of the engine cylinders. A special electronic device controls the stroke of the cylinders. Moreover, for driving at low and high speeds, there are two different operating modes. Thus, the efficiency of the engine is optimized, its power is increased and fuel consumption is reduced. The cylinder block of MIVEC engines is made of aluminum.

The only diesel engine offered in the 2008 model range was a two-liter turbocharged 2.0TDI power unit produced by the Volkswagen concern. This 140-horsepower engine was only paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and was offered exclusively in high trim levels. The price for Lancer 2008 in this modification averaged €25,000.

The 2009 edition of the Mitsubishi Lancer lineup has been supplemented with another modification of the car. At the same time, an all-wheel drive version of the Lancer Ralliart appeared on sale in Europe and America. This car, in fact, is an economy version of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. It has a sportier appearance (a carbon fiber all-round body kit, a wing on the trunk and a redesigned front end) and is equipped with a 4B11Turbo engine with an electronic bridle that limits its power to 240 horsepower. strength The acceleration dynamics of the car from 0 to 100 km/h is 7 seconds. Compared to other Mitsubishi Lancer 2009 models, the price for the Ralliart version was undoubtedly higher. However, this did not prevent this car from entering the 10 most popular class “C” cars at the end of 2009 in the USA, Germany and Mexico.

Useful information: the transmission for the Lancer Ralliart is the same as for the TC-SST robotic gearbox. In the design of this aggregator, instead of a torque converter, two separate clutches are used - for even and odd gears. The principle of its operation is that as soon as one clutch opens, the machine instantly selects the next gear. Thus, gear shifting is much faster than in manual mode. The positive properties of the TC-SST transmission include the following:

Smooth operation (there are practically no jerks);

Ensuring a continuous flow of power;

Excellent dynamics;

Economy at the manual transmission level;

Provides excellent overclocking performance.

Thanks to this, the TC-SST robotic gearbox is considered one of the best modern transmissions in its class.

The civilian versions of the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer were enriched with a new turbodiesel, which entered the general engine lineup at the end of July. This 1.8-liter 116-horsepower turbo engine is interesting primarily because its design was the first to use MIVEC technology, which was previously available only for gasoline internal combustion engines. In addition, the ClearTec particulate filter system ensured that it passed the European market (Euro 5 toxicity standards).

A significant event for the entire history of the Mitsubishi Lancer family was the receipt of the highest rating by this car in 2009 from the independent European auto examination bureau EuroNCAP. It is noteworthy that in 1998, the Lancer was declared by this bureau “a car dangerous to the life of the driver and passengers.” Therefore, the highest score of 5 safety stars, earned 11 years after the fiasco, became a kind of rehabilitation for Mitsubishi in the eyes of cautious Europeans.

The technical arsenal of the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer was replenished with two new engines - a two-liter 150-horsepower turbodiesel 20DDT MIVEC and a gasoline engine 120-horsepower 16 MIVEC. Both engines comply with Euro 5 environmental safety regulations.

The chassis of the Mitsubishi Lancer 2010 has also changed for the better. The suspension design - independent MacPherson struts with anti-roll bar at the front and an independent spring "multi-link" at the rear - remains the same. However, all auxiliary systems are now available as standard:

ABS - anti-lock braking system;

EBD – electronic brake force distribution;

Brake Assist - assistance during emergency braking.

In addition, in April, two limited edition Mitsubishi Lancer 2010 hatchbacks - SE and ES modifications - will simultaneously enter the North American market. These cars were distinguished by increased comfort and a turbocharged 4B11Turbo engine, which was previously installed only on models of the Evolution X series. Unfortunately, these cars were not officially exported to Russia.

Among Mitsubishi's achievements in 2010, one cannot fail to note the fact that the production Lancer GT was included in the list of cars approved for participation in the prestigious 14th Top Rice international rally race in Argentina. At these competitions, the legendary pilot Nestor Gabriel Furlan was driving the car.

The following year, 2011, the Mitsubishi Lancer X was subjected to a thorough restyling.

The 10th generation Lancer, beloved by Russian motorists, was produced in several modifications and trim levels. Over the years, versions of this machine for the USA, Europe and Russia were rolled off the assembly line. Models intended for the Japanese domestic market deserve special attention.

Lancer X is a dynamic and aggressive, comfortable and attractive car that especially appealed to our youth. The car was offered in several body styles - a sedan, a rare coupe, a station wagon and a hatchback. The article will review the Mitsubishi Lancer 10: technical characteristics, vehicle features and other important details.

Main technical characteristics of the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 2007-2018, equipment features for different markets.

  • Diesel and gasoline engines were used, a reinforced body was developed, the interior was carefully designed for greater comfort, and all safety systems were updated. The MIVEC system was used.
  • For Europe, 1.5 units were supplied; 1.8 and 2 liters (petrol) and one turbodiesel (2 liters). In 2009, a 1.8 liter MIVEC and ClearTec turbodiesel were added. Since 2010, two more new units have been offered: a 2 liter turbodiesel and a 1.6 liter petrol. A modification with a 2.4 liter engine was supplied to America.
  • Transmission options: five-speed manual, CVT, six-speed automatic. The diesel engine has only a six-speed manual transmission.
  • Release of the all-wheel drive Ralliart model with a turbocharged unit. Two additional variations were also offered - SE and ES with turbocharged engines and increased comfort.
  • In 2011, a thorough restyling was carried out. The chassis was improved, and available assistance systems were used as standard.

The Lancer Sportback model received the highest safety rating - 5 stars in EuroNCAP crash tests conducted on February 19, 2009. The sports version Evo/Evolution has differences from standard models in the form of a modified bumper, hood, all-wheel drive, radiator grille, rigid body, enlarged arches wheels and a more powerful power unit with manual transmission.

Torque of Lancer 10 from 121 to 407 N*m. The following transmissions are used: CVT, mechanical (5 and 6 steps), automatic 4 steps, robotic 6 steps. Ground clearance in Russian models is 150/165 mm, in Japanese – 135/145/150 mm, European – 140/150 mm, American – 135/140 mm. The power of the tenth generation engines is 90-201 horsepower.

Disadvantages of the model

The car is high quality and durable. With proper care, it is difficult to find pockets of corrosion even on fairly old models. But many in the 10th model did not like the technical stuffing, since many elements from previous generations were used. The paintwork is quite weak; with active use and the desire to drive, chips and scratches will appear very soon. However, the anti-corrosion resistance, as mentioned, is very good.

The most problematic engine is the 1.5 liter model; the main disadvantages are considered to be coking of the piston rings and high oil consumption. This can happen over a period of up to one hundred thousand kilometers, but much depends on the quality of the fluid, the frequency of its replacement and the operation of the car. Minor problems are considered:

  • burnout of exhaust system rings - it is important to change filters and transmission oil on time, to avoid slipping;
  • As far as the chassis is concerned, the main problem is the steering rack, which begins to knock over time;
  • there are difficulties with the electric power steering, calipers and brake discs;
  • Electronically, the main disadvantage with the mounting block is that when the heated mirrors and rear window are turned on, the relay is overloaded and begins to melt.
  • The finishing quality is not of the highest quality - poor sound insulation, creaking seats, whistling fan.

Since the appearance of the 10th Lancer model, the car's popularity has been constantly growing. The characteristics of the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 are quite good for its class. The car has always remained in demand, because each update brought advantages, increasing safety and comfort. An important role in the popularity of the model was played by: easily recognizable design, technical and dynamic characteristics, equipment, a wide range of engines and equipment. Japanese quality and thoughtfulness of every detail allows you to drive this car with pleasure and enjoy even a very long road. If necessary, Lancer is always ready to show its character and leave its competitors behind.

The silhouette of the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 with its center of gravity shifted downward, sharply outlined rear, high tornado line, swept profile, graphically clear contours of the wings and smooth outlines of the struts really resembles a military fighter. Fans of sports cars will certainly prefer to buy this model. The developers managed to very successfully focus attention on its dynamic character with the help of a monolithic frontal area reminiscent of a slightly open snake's mouth, slanted headlights, a spectacular rear wing and a circular plastic body kit.

Practical and comfortable interior

Sales of these cars are very active. Market research in a city like Moscow only confirms this argument. The growing popularity of the model is largely due to the new stylish interior of the cabin. The developers offered users an ergonomically organized space that allows them to sit comfortably during long trips.

All configurations of the Mitsubishi Lancer X are equipped with a highly informative dashboard, an impressive center console with a carbon fiber finish, anatomical seats with improved relief, lateral support and a high seating position. The leather-wrapped steering wheel has a comfortable grip and features shift paddles and audio control buttons. Thanks to the multifunction LCD display, occupants receive an expanded range of communication capabilities.

Mitsubishi Lancer X engines: efficient and economical

The excellent technical characteristics demonstrated by the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 power units are due to the carefully designed timing design and the presence of an electronic controller that ensures the synchronous operation of the valves.

Unique MIVEC technology

A serious competitive advantage of these motors is the use of MIVEC technology. In this case, due to the design features of the camshaft, differentiated operation of the ECI-Multi distributed injection is ensured. Injection operates in two modes. One of them corresponds to movement at high speeds, the second – to movement at low speeds. Modes change automatically.

The engine, equipped with MIVEC technology, is capable of providing a sharp start and comfortable driving without switching to low gears. Thanks to automated valve timing, qualities such as “power” and “fuel efficiency” are no longer at odds with each other.

Innovation for Security

In order to protect consumers from road risks, the manufacturer has equipped cars of this model with a set of modern safety elements. Strengthening the body structure according to the standards of the Mitsubishi automobile brand is carried out in accordance with the RISE technological principles. This makes it possible to increase the rigidity of the machine frame by 52% compared to competitors.

Highly effective solutions for protecting people include 7 airbags, an anti-lock braking system, and a brake force distribution function. These innovations became the key to the true triumph of Mitsubishi Lancer X cars, the price of which is quite affordable, when performing crash tests by the Euro NCAP committee. For the first time in the history of the automobile brand, these cars received the highest rating of 5 stars on the European safety scale.

There is an opinion that a new model of any car is worth buying only after the first modification. The updated Mitsubishi Lancer 10 completely proves this proposition. Let's find out why this is so and what interesting things the latest version of the people's favorite has prepared for us.

A little history

The first Lancer-Mitsubishi 10 models appeared in our showrooms in 2007. In parallel with them, Lancer 9 was sold, which was produced since 2000 and at that time had already experienced three restylings. At the same time, the top-end configuration of the ninth Lancer cost the same as the base version of the tenth with a similar engine.

Thus, Lancer 9 sold well in parallel with Lancer 10 for another three years. The main advantage of the “nine” was the technology, proven over the years, and the elimination of sins that could arise in the early stages of sales. Meanwhile, the “Ten” received a lot of negative reviews due to some “dampness,” obvious shortcomings and solutions that did not correspond to its price.

The first version of the Lancer-Mitsubishi 10 had many problems. And if the exclamations “it drives worse than its predecessor” can be considered subjective, then some problems were frankly noticeable to the naked eye. Among them are the low quality of interior trim and poor sound insulation. The tenth Lancer received a more modern design and interior design that was current at that time, but in terms of the quality of materials it was clearly inferior to the ninth.

Changes did not take long to arrive

Now it’s clear why the updated Lancer-Mitsubishi 10 was so long-awaited. But has the manufacturer, for whom the CIS market has second place in priority after its native Japan, heard the wishes of customers? It also became clear from the press releases that he seemed to have heard. The noise insulation was improved, the finishing materials were made much more pleasant to the touch, and instead of a monochrome display, a color one was installed between the speedometer and tachometer wells. And all modifications of the car were equipped with a bumper from the RallyArt model.

Thus, the manufacturer not only heard the pleas of car enthusiasts, but also took them into account. But that's not all. The most important change occurred under the hood. The base engines of the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 had a volume of 1.5 liters, which is by definition rather weak for Lancer lovers. In the new version they were bored out to a volume of 1.6 liters. Now the engine generates power of 117 horsepower. Let us remember that the 1.5-liter engine produced 109 hp. With.

Psychological move

Of course, even a novice driver will understand that such an increase in volume and power will not greatly affect the dynamics of the basic configuration of the updated Lancer-Mitsubishi 10. But the manufacturer had to do it, and here's why. Firstly, competitors have long been making smaller engines with more power. And secondly, the number 1.5 does not look at all on the body of a car, whose appearance looks very sporty and dynamic.

The second trick that the Japanese manufacturer used to attract the attention of customers to its new brainchild is the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 bumper and its radiator grille, which are borrowed from the RallyArt version. This little detail may seem completely unnoticeable at first glance, but it is very captivating. In this simple way, the manufacturer allegedly gives buyers of the new, tenth Lancer the right to feel included in the circle of sports car owners. It should be noted that this “trick” works very successfully. The car in this version looks very fresh and attractive.

Have the company's claims of improvement been confirmed?

Having received the keys to the restyled Mitsubishi Lancer 10, the photos of which differ little from its predecessor, few will focus on its exterior. What really interests everyone is the interior decoration. As reviews show, the new version of the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 has really nice finishing materials. Sound insulation is also okay, at least when compared with the previous version. Of course, there are “classmates” of the Lancer whose cabin noise level is significantly lower. In general, the Japanese company did not disappoint and corrected the errors, but did nothing special.

Equipment

"Lancer" is equipped according to all the standards of its class. In the basic configuration, it is equipped with the following options: ABS, electronic brake force distribution controller, Brake Assist system, which helps with emergency braking, front airbags, child seat mounts, on-board computer, immobilizer, halogen headlights and an air filter. Thus, even the basic version has all the necessary elements for comfort.

In more expensive versions, in addition to the above, there are: heated seats, an illuminated ignition switch, electric drive and heated side mirrors, air conditioning, a navigation lamp, remote control of the gas tank cap, a leather steering wheel, fog lights, gear shift paddles and much more.

On road

The engine has indeed become more lively, but this difference is almost imperceptible. The familiar 5-speed gearbox is reminiscent of the previous version of the car. It works flawlessly, but sixth gear is clearly not enough, especially considering the new nature of the Mitsubishi Lancer 10. The rear suspension, like the front, is very reminiscent of its older brother. The behavior of our hero on the road is quite predictable and moderately comfortable, just like the previous version. But the tenth is still far from handling the ninth Lancer. When turning, the car rolls quite a bit, but to call its behavior critical would definitely be dishonest.

The main trump card

This, as before, is cost. As practice shows, in our market price is the main argument, and Japanese automakers understand this very well. So the price of the new, tenth Lancer in a decent basic Inform configuration is 19.7 thousand dollars. A more equipped modification called Invite will cost the buyer 21 thousand. e. The same versions, but with automatic transmission cost 21 and 22 thousand, respectively.

An even more interesting version with a 2-liter 150-horsepower engine is called Invite+ and costs 22 thousand with a manual transmission and a thousand more with a CVT. Among other things, it is equipped with MASC + MATC security systems, remote control of the central locking, as well as a light and rain sensor.

The top-end "Lancer 10" in the Intense configuration has a spoiler, airbags for rear passengers and it already costs 24 thousand dollars. To understand how objective the price is, you can simply look at how often Lancer is seen on the roads. In any case, the good news is that the new version costs the same as the old one.

Recognizable style

Mitsubishi Lancer X is one of the most recognizable sedans in its class. Even people far from the automotive world know what a Lancer is! The latest, tenth generation of the main international bestseller of the Japanese brand combines in its appearance more than forty years of brand traditions and the most modern trends in the design industry:

  • Side mirrors, body-colored, electrically adjustable and heated
  • Two bumper designs - 2011 MY and Ralliart
  • Large radiator grille with chrome surround
  • Monolithic front end in signature Jet Fighter style
  • Optional aerodynamic side skirts and striking rear wing

Dynamic lines, a massive front part, a predatory “squint” of headlights - all this gives the car a feeling of sportiness, seriousness and brutality. No one will want to cut off such a car on the road or block it in the parking lot.

Safety

According to the results of a series of independent crash tests according to Euro NCAP, the Mitsubishi Lancer X was awarded the maximum rating - five out of five possible stars. The sedan showed the following indicators in various categories: driver or adult passenger - 81%, child passenger - 80%, pedestrian - 34%, safety devices - 71%.

  • Front airbags for driver and front passenger as standard, side airbags for driver and front passenger and knee airbag as standard
  • Safety body RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution)
  • Locking the rear door locks from opening from the inside (“child lock”) and automatic door unlocking system in case of an accident - Side safety bars in the doors
  • Side safety bars in the doors
  • Front three-point seat belts with pretensioners, force limiters and height adjustment and three rear three-point seat belts with inertia retractors + ISOFIX child seat anchors

Mitsubishi Lancer X is one of the safest cars in its class and price category. The above are just numerous passive protection systems, but the Japanese sedan is also equipped with a wide range of electronic functions and technologies that will help you avoid the occurrence of an emergency situation.

Electronic technology

Mitsubishi Lancer X is a purebred Japanese sedan, in whose veins not only gasoline flows, but also electrical signals from numerous electronic systems implemented on board the car. Modern technologies will make driving much safer and calmer.

  • Anti-lock braking system (ABS) - prevents the wheels from locking when sliding, which allows you to maintain vehicle control and avoid skidding.
  • Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) - increases braking efficiency and ensures driving safety
  • Brake Assist - emergency braking assistance system
  • Brake override system - priority of the brake pedal over the gas pedal in an emergency
  • Central locking and electronic immobilizer

Four high-tech systems are responsible for ensuring that the braking process is as fast and efficient as possible, and the distance traveled by the car after pressing the pedal is reduced to a minimum. With such thorough “support” you will always be confident in your car, even on slippery and icy roads.
