Caterpillar floating transporter PTS. Pts-m transport cargo version Floating transporter PTS propeller

PTSM is a floating caterpillar transporter designed to transport people and goods in the absence of roads, through water barriers and swamps. In practice, PTSM can carry about 8 tons of cargo by land, 10 tons by water. High sides and low specific pressure on the ground make it possible to transport large and oversized cargo, fuel containers, URAL and KAMAZ vehicles. Ease of execution allows the efficient use of all-terrain vehicles in harsh climatic conditions, in the absence of roads and bridges.

Floating conveyor PTS-2

PTS-2 in wartime, it is used to transport personnel and equipment during amphibious assault operations. It has a gyro semi-compass, additionally equipped with marine equipment (exhaust system extension, glass protection, cockpit, sealed awning, pumping pumps allow you to confidently stay on the water surface with waves up to 3 points.

The civilian use of the PTS-2 has found itself in remote areas of Russia for the transfer of construction equipment, cars and trucks, cargo and people to the development site.

In the regions of the Russian Federation and foreign countries, floating conveyors are used in the elimination of the consequences of natural disasters, floods and in rescue operations.

The PTS amphibious transporter is designed to cross wide water barriers for personnel, wheeled vehicles, artillery systems and materiel. For the simultaneous crossing of the artillery system and the tractor, the PKP wheeled floating trailer is included in the vehicle kit. In this case, the artillery system is transported on a trailer, and the tractor in the conveyor.
The PTS transporter can also be used to transport personnel and cargo over rough and wetlands. Carrying capacity on water is 10 tons (with a buoyancy margin of 30%), when transported by land 5 tons.

The PTS transporter can be used during amphibious assault operations. For this purpose, it is equipped with a gyro-semi-compass. Additional marine equipment (exhaust extensions, cockpit glazing protection, sealed canopy, two powerful bilge pumps provide seaworthiness up to 4-5 points.

For one trip, the PTS transporter can transport: two 85-mm cannons with crews or guns and howitzers of caliber from 122 to 152, one each with crews or 12 wounded on stretchers or 72 soldiers with full armament or two vehicles of the UAZ-469 type or a car from UAZ -452 to Ural -4320 (without cargo).
The PTS conveyor cabin is double sealed, equipped with a heater and an air blower with a filter, which allows the crew to work without gas masks.
Loading is carried out on land through a folding tailgate with ramps. Opening and closing of a back board is carried out by means of two manual mini winches. But the ramps have to be tilted and raised manually.
Self-propelled equipment drives into the body by self-propelled, non-self-propelled equipment is dragged into the body by a conveyor winch driven by the base engine.

Movement on the water is carried out using two propellers. The propellers can be activated simultaneously with the drive of the tracks, which increases the capabilities of the machine when entering / leaving the water and driving in shallow water. The maximum permissible speed for the operation of the machine is 3m/sec. Due to the reduced specific pressure on the ground, the machine has good maneuverability in wetlands. The winch drive from the base engine provides full ability to self-pull the machine when stuck or overcoming steep slopes.

The predecessor of the PTS was the K-61 tracked carrier, a further development of the PTS-2. Modernization of the PTS transporter PTS-M was equipped with a diesel cabin and body heater, which increased the capabilities of the vehicle during operations in winter conditions, and excluded the possibility of ice freezing on the sides of the vehicle.
PTS were in service with the airborne assault company of the engineer-sapper battalion of a motorized rifle (tank) division - 1 platoon (9 vehicles); in a separate airborne battalion of the district - 2 companies (36 vehicles).

Floating conveyor medium PTS-2, a further significantly improved model of the PTS-M conveyor, was already created in Ukraine, in the city of Lugansk at the Lugansk Diesel Locomotive Plant under the leadership of chief designers S.P. Filonova Z.P. and V.P. Koldoba in 1973.

While maintaining the general layout scheme similar to its predecessors, the transporter is equipped with a more powerful diesel engine - 522.5 kW, and its carrying capacity on land and on water is increased - up to 12 tons, with a dead weight of 24.2 tons.

The PTS-2 transporter is equipped with an armored cabin with a filter-ventilation unit, a self-digging device and is equipped with special equipment for operation in marine conditions.

For loading and unloading of self-propelled and non-self-propelled cargoes on a cargo platform with an area of 23.6 m 2 (8225x2870 mm), the PTS-2 conveyor has a tailgate with two ramps and a single-drum reversible winch with a maximum traction force of 98.1 kN and a cable length. - 60 meters. The winch can also be used for self-extraction of the conveyor when it gets stuck in difficult terrain and to increase patency in other difficult operating conditions (snow, swamps, entering and exiting water and others).

For movement on water in the tunnels of the aft part of the hull, two 4-blade right-handed propellers with a diameter of 700 mm are mounted. Behind the propellers there are water rudders driven by a steering wheel located in front of the driver. The maximum thrust on the moorings of the conveyor with a load - 12 tons - 28.45 kN.

To ensure the survivability of the conveyor on the water, two centrifugal bilge pumps with a total flow of 1950 l / min are installed in the hull, and the static buoyancy margin with a load of 12 tons is increased - up to 46% of the total displacement.

The PTS-2 transporters were involved together with the crews to carry out work in the flood zone in the Far East in 2013. With the help of these machines, people, livestock and property were evacuated from the flood zones, as well as the supply of food, property and first aid to the victims cut off by water. Even sandbags to strengthen the coast were transported to PTS-2. At the bus stop, one could see an announcement with the following content: “From September 17, the PTS timetable has changed. Floating transporters will now depart from two points simultaneously at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 17:30. The last transporter departs from school No. 13 at 19-00. Attention! The schedule is subject to change due to the onset of the dark time of the day or due to worsening weather conditions. The timetable for the movement of transporters can be found on the information screen of the mobile complex for informing and alerting the population, located at the intersection of Rzhevsky and Komsomolskoye highways.

On the basis of PTS-2, a special device was developed and installed for underwater mining and extraction of gold sands in flooded areas. On PTS-2 there is a dredging plant with a capacity of up to 100 m 3 /hour of solid particles with a mobile processing complex. Using additional attachments, now a former military transporter, it can clear water bodies and their coastlines from weeds, mow vegetation (reeds, grass) both under water and above the water level, and lift sunken large heavy objects from the bottom of a water body with a special grip.

Cabin

The cabin is welded, three-seater, closed type, has thermal and noise insulation, is designed to accommodate and protect the crew, controls, electrical and instrumentation, communications, weapons, air heater, filtering unit and other equipment. In addition to the upper hatches, the PTS-2 cab has a sealed body door, which is not available in the PTS-M.

Bollards are welded to the upper inclined sheet outside the cabin for mooring and towing PTS-2 on the water. A bracket is welded to the lower inclined sheet inside the cabin for installing the guide roller of the winch cable. In the front bow there is a hatch with a cover for issuing a winch cable when using it for self-pulling of the conveyor on land.

Frame

The body of the conveyor is designed to accommodate the crew, install units and mechanisms, ensure the buoyancy of the conveyor, as well as to accommodate the cargo being transported. The body is an island that connects all the units and mechanisms of the conveyor into a single whole, perceiving all the loads that arise during the movement and overcoming obstacles by the conveyor. The hull consists of a frame, skin, cab, cargo platform and tailgate. The hull is formed from side sheets, transverse and longitudinal beams, racks, braces, two shafts for propellers and a bottom welded together.

In the closed position, the sealing of the tailgate with the PTS-2 body is ensured by pressing the sealing profile against the rubber sealant placed in the profile box along the contour of the end of the loading platform. The tailgate is opened or closed using the hydraulic system of the self-digging equipment (the self-digging equipment was not installed in the models of the 94s). In the event of a malfunction, as well as during preparation for the operation of the equipment for self-digging, the opening of the side is carried out manually using the mechanism for raising (lowering) the folding side.

cargo platform

The cargo platform serves for installation and fastening of transported goods. The main parts of the loading platform are two tracks. Each track is located symmetrically to the axis of the conveyor on the frame beams and consists of three removable and one non-removable carriageways. Removable hoods and grilles are installed between the tracks, which cover the engine, power transmission units, fuel and oil tanks.

Engine

The conveyor is equipped with a four-stroke high-speed V-46-5 diesel engine with liquid cooling, with direct fuel injection (multi-fuel) with supercharging.

The engine has the following design features:

Rotation from the crankshaft to the supercharger rotor is transmitted through a centrifugal friction clutch, so when the crankshaft is stationary, the rotor rotates freely;

The engine is equipped with a combined drain of fuel from the injectors. Fuel is drained into the front group of tanks, which must be free, without back pressure. In this regard, the front group of tanks should not be refueled by 8-10 liters. It is allowed to fill the front group of tanks completely and start fuel production from it;

The engine is equipped with a two-position closed-type fuel pump drive clutch, which allows you to change the fuel supply advance angle;

The fuel pump has a three-position rail stop. The setting of the rail stop must correspond to the fuel used;

Oil is supplied to the PK-12M fuel pump from the engine lubrication system to lubricate the rubbing surfaces of the pump and regulator;

The engine fuel supply system provides a continuous flow of fuel during engine operation using a fuel pump in the amount of 60-70 liters per hour;

A link with an elastic link is installed on the engine in the fuel pump control drive. The presence of an elastic link includes the need to adjust the guaranteed gap between the fuel pump regulator lever and the maximum speed screw to the fully depressed position of the fuel supply pedal. The rod has a spring mechanism with pre-tightening of the spring - 8 kgf;

In the engine lubrication system, a centrifugal filter MTs-1 (centrifuge) is installed, designed for fine purification of oil from mechanical impurities;

A generator is installed on the engine, which receives rotation from the crankshaft through a fluid coupling;

The engine has heating cavities in the upper and lower halves of the crankcase, connected to the engine heating system;

The engine is mounted on the axis of the conveyor and fastened with four supports on the frame pedestal;

Armored vehicles of Russia and the world photo, video watch online was significantly different from all its predecessors. For a large reserve of buoyancy, the height of the hull was noticeably increased, and to improve stability, it was given a trapezoidal shape in cross section. The required bullet resistance to the hull was provided by rolled cemented armor with an additionally hardened outer layer of the KO brand ("Kulebaki-OGPU"). In the manufacture of the hull, welding of armor plates from the inner soft side was used; special stocks were used to facilitate assembly. To simplify the installation of units, the upper armor plates of the hull were made removable with a seal on fabric gaskets lubricated with red lead.

Armored vehicles of the Second World War, in which the crew of two of them was located near the longitudinal axis at the back of each other's head, but the turret with weapons was shifted by 250 mm to the port side. The power unit is shifted to the starboard side in such a way that access for engine repair was possible from inside the fighting compartment of the tank after removing the safety partition. In the stern of the tank, on the sides, there were two gas tanks with a capacity of 100 liters each, and directly behind the engine there was a radiator and a heat exchanger, washed by sea water when moving afloat. At the stern, in a special niche, there was a propeller with navigable rudders. The balance of the tank was chosen in such a way that afloat it had a slight trim to the stern. The propeller was driven by a cardan shaft from a power take-off mounted on the gearbox housing.

Armored vehicles of the USSR in January 1938, at the request of the head of the ABTU D. Pavlov, the armament of the tank was to be strengthened by installing a 45-mm semi-automatic gun or a 37-mm automatic gun, and if a semi-automatic gun was installed, the crew should have been increased to three people. The tank's ammunition was to consist of 61 shots for a 45-mm cannon and 1,300 rounds for a machine gun. The design bureau of plant No. 185 completed two projects on the theme of "Castle", the prototype of which was the Swedish tank "Landsverk-30".

Armored vehicles of the Wehrmacht did not escape the trouble with forcing the engine. To what has been said, one can only add that the indicated crisis was actually overcome only in 1938, for which the tank received not only a forced engine. In order to strengthen the suspension, thicker leaf springs were used in it. Rubber bandages made of neoprene, a domestically produced synthetic rubber, were launched, the production of tracks from Hartfield steel by hot stamping began, and hardened HDTV fingers were introduced. But all these changes to the tank were not introduced at once. The hull of the tank with inclined armor plates could not be made on time. However, a conical turret with improved protection was delivered on time, and the tank with the same hull, reinforced suspension (due to the installation of thicker leaf springs), a boosted engine and a new turret entered the NIBT test site for testing.

Modern armored vehicles went under the conditional index T-51. It retained the process of transition from caterpillars to wheels, as in the prototype, by lowering special levers with wheels without leaving a person. However, after adjusting the requirements for the tank, which made it a three-seater (it was decided to keep the loader's backup control), and strengthening its weapons to the BT level, it turned out to be impossible to implement a Landsverk-type wheel drive. In addition, the tank's wheel drive transmission was overly complex. Therefore, soon work on the topic "Castle" was already carried out on the T-116 tank, in which "changing shoes" was carried out according to the BT type - by removing caterpillar chains.
