Honda CR-V: the fourth international. Used Honda CR-V II: unsuccessful all-wheel drive and mega-reliable engines Tail lights and LED optics

1 - flimsy plastic on the doors; when you close the door, the plastic vibrates strongly and is pulled in the direction of the applied force. 2 - not comfortable seats, short, weak lateral support, leather wears out at the joints after two years (the dealer resolved the issue under warranty, replaced the covers, in fact it is not genuine leather) 3 - steering wheel, American-assembled versions with a 2.4 engine are adjustable steering wheel only in height. in terms of offset NO 4 - crunching sound when starting the engine in the cold season! According to dealers, this is not a defect but a feature and the sound does not mean anything terrible, METAL CRUNCHING FROM THE MOTOR! AMENDMENT dated October 31, 2017, the timing gear was still ordered under warranty. ADDENDUM from 12/02/2017 on a weakly charged battery the crunching noise appeared again. The gear jamb is obvious, or it is of poor quality or a design flaw. I'm completely fed up with the Honda brand. 5 is the first car where I see deformation of the door arches when closing the glass, that is, the glass closes and the upper arch on the door slightly changes its shape with each closing. Check. this is really weird. At the same time, I didn’t notice any cracks, probably a feature. 6 - Very poor equipment. There are no tire pressure sensors. mediocre display, no light bulb in the glove compartment, no parking sensors (this is all I am describing the equipment of an American-built 2.4 engine), no headlight washers, no xenon, ordinary lamps everywhere, not a single LED. (not counting daytime running lights) 7 - many consider this a disadvantage. Personally, I don't. but I’ll write anyway. Oak torpedo. I'm not the kind of esthete who touches my car every time I get into the car. It is important for me that everything looks ergonomic 8 - rigid suspension 9 - expensive original spare parts (but at the same time reliable) The car, in terms of equipment and everything else, looks like a year like 2006, but not like a modern one. 10 - probably a quibble about the box, jerks and jerks happen. dull old automatic transmission dated 10/31/2017 the automatic transmission was sentenced to replacement! ! ! (I hope that this problem is for the most part an exception to the rule) 11 - blurry controls, no composure, sluggish brakes. Matter of habit. (addition from 06/13/2018 - The problem of sluggish brakes is solved by changing to another manufacturer. I chose Nibk. It has become better, significantly! Satisfied.) 12 - SOUND. despite the many speakers and subwoofer, the sound is mediocre at 4 with two minuses. 13 - voice control like in the last century. ADDITION TO REVIEW dated 10/31/2017 A little disappointed with the HONDA brand! The timing gear was eventually replaced under warranty and started to crack at +10, so I had to leave the car in service for a day. There was a buzz from the box, they condemned some kind of bearing, they told me to replace the entire automatic transmission assembly with a new one, wait a month, out of stock. At the tire fitting, a pin was broken off. If you change it using the method HONDA intended, you need to remove the hub; indiscriminate maintenance of this unit is not provided. After these adventures, I am convinced of the worldwide conspiracy of automakers)))) from 12/02/2017 PS: I’m waiting for everything else to start falling apart. Honda reliability is 4 minus. Maybe in further operation it will show itself on the positive side, while I’m watching. in just over 2 years under warranty they replaced: one drive, it was crooked (because of this, at every service I asked for a wheel alignment), leather covers (worn out at the joints), timing gear, automatic transmission, trunk gas struts, alternator belt tension roller . For my own money I changed the pads, brake discs, front steering wheel, battery, alternator belt. lasted for 30,000 miles I promise to finish the review! AND SO))) 02/18/2018 I was at the next maintenance and again ordered the timing gear, again the sound, again the crackling noise. I would like to note the work of the servicemen, I was pleasantly pleased with the service. The guys are on the consumer’s side, they also offered to order the front headlights under warranty (they became cloudy), but they didn’t refuse.)) Well, something like this. In the snow, the car performed quite well, there were no jams, and there was no need to push. Of the minuses, the protection is located very low. And in general everything is fine. On February 23, 2018, the gear and headlights were replaced under warranty. The headlights are really not a bad bonus! They shine better, the line is clearer, I'm happy. I haven't heard a crunch in three days. Thanks to AoyamaMotors on Volgogradka. I recommend. On 03/07/2018, the steering rack assembly was replaced under warranty; judging by the sound, the bushings were broken. I would like to note the reliability of the stabilization struts; judging by the fact that the rack was damaged, the roads were not the best. However, there are no complaints about the suspension. For example, on a Mazda I changed the struts every 20-25 thousand mileage, a consumable item. Very loyal dealer. They do repairs without any questions asked. Mileage 75,000 06/13/2018 So my warranty on the car has expired. Flight at 85,000 UAH three times, normal. The timing gear sometimes tries to make something incomprehensible, but it is a subtle sound that only I hear and very rarely.)) I don’t want to give a general assessment of the car yet. I plan on further use. This is definitely not a problem-free car. And it cannot be rated 5 points. Described everything as it is. Everything in essence.

The Honda CR-V crossover debuted in 1995. The abbreviation in the name of the model stands for “compact recreational vehicle.” The car quickly gained popularity in a variety of markets. This was especially true for the USA. There he regularly ranked high in the ranking of best-selling cars. However, in other countries, Honda SRV has gained significant popularity.

Cars with 2.0 and 2.4 liter gasoline engines were supplied to the domestic market. Their features, reliability and resource will be discussed in this article.

I generation (1995-2001)

The line of power units is essentially represented by one engine. This is a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four with the index B20 B(Z) (index after restyling). The initial power was 128 hp, which then increased to 147. The cylinder head is a twin-shaft 16-valve, but there is no proprietary VTEC variable valve timing system. Thanks to this, the design turned out to be extremely simple and reliable. These engines have gained a reputation as one of the most reliable and unpretentious from Honda.

Features and malfunctions

It is worth noting that the engines of this series are not equipped with hydraulic compensators. It is worth remembering this and adjusting the valve clearances every 40 thousand km. The timing belt resource is 100 thousand km. It is believed that when a break occurs, the valve most often does not bend. However, it is not worth the risk in vain. It is better to monitor the condition of the belt drive and service it in a timely manner.

No obvious weak critical points have been identified in these engines during quite a long period of operation. For this we should thank the simple, but at the same time thoughtful design. One of the unpleasant features that still occurs is the short service life of camshaft seals. Also, with a significant mileage, damage to the cylinder head gasket is possible. There have been cases when, due to problems with the thermostat and pump, problems with overheating appeared. Therefore, it is worth paying more attention to the condition of this equipment.

Resource potential

With this indicator, the engine is doing quite well. Well-groomed specimens can easily take care of up to 300 thousand km. In addition, the low prices for contract engines allow many owners to simply replace an engine that requires repair.

II generation (2001-2006)

This generation allowed potential owners to choose between two engines with different displacements. Although structurally they had common roots, the differences concerned mainly the design of the crankshaft and enlarged connecting rods. The height of the cylinder block has increased accordingly.

  • 2.0 l. (150 hp) K20A4;
  • 2.4 l. (158/162 hp) K24A1.

Both engines received a timing chain drive with a fairly decent service life. On average it is about 200 thousand km. The DOHC twin-shaft cylinder head is equipped with an intelligent variable valve timing system i-VTEC. It allows you to optimize fuel consumption and improve efficiency indicators. The design does not have hydraulic compensators, so owners should check the valve clearances every 40 thousand and, if necessary, adjust them.

Common faults

Both engines have such a characteristic “disease” as wear of the camshafts. More precisely, cams that affect the correct operation of the valves. This is manifested by such symptoms as: slow acceleration, increased consumption, “triple movement”, sometimes even knocking.

The problem is associated with a design feature in which there is no VTEC system on the exhaust shaft, unlike the intake shaft. Due to small, imperceptible distortions in the valve clearances, shock loads occur. This can occur either on its own or due to the use of low-quality oil. Rare oil changes or oil starvation can also lead to such consequences. Do not forget about timely adjustment of valves. The 2.0-liter K20A4 is considered the most affected modification due to this problem.

A common problem is a leaking front crankshaft oil seal. However, it can be solved by a simple replacement. Contamination of the throttle valve and idle air valve often causes floating speed.

The K20 series engine may have vibration problems. First of all, you should check the engine mounting mounts. If they are in good condition, you should pay attention to the timing chain. In specimens with a decent mileage, it may stretch.

Engine life

Most copies, both with 2.0 and 2.4-liter engines, begin to need major repairs within 200-300 thousand km. The key to high mileage is careful maintenance. This is especially true for the quality of the oil and the frequency of its replacement. These engines are quite sensitive to this.

III generation (2007-2011)

The third generation consolidated the tradition in which potential owners chose between two gasoline engines. The older version with a volume of 2.4 liters continued the development of a series of engines with the K24 index. A more modest 2.0-liter version was a representative of the new R series for the CR-V model.

  • 2.0 l. (150 hp) R20A;
  • 2.4 l. (166 hp) K24Z1.

The R series engine is a modification of the 1.8 liter R18 engine. It first appeared on the 8th generation Civic model. The increase in volume was achieved by installing a long-stroke crankshaft. The modified intake manifold has 3 operating modes. The motor also acquired balancer shafts. The cylinder head has a SOHC design, that is, with one camshaft, but it has 16 valves. There is an i-VTEC phase change system. The mechanism drive itself is chain driven.

It is noted that, compared to its predecessor the K20 series, the engines of this series have a more “urban” character. The emphasis is on low and medium speeds. We can say that the bright sporting character has disappeared. At the same time, efficiency has increased, and the relative simplicity of the design has increased the reliability of the unit.

The K24Z1 engine received certain modifications, which improved its performance. The intake manifold received changes, and a different connecting rod and piston group began to be installed. This allowed the power to be increased to 166 hp.

Both engines do not have hydraulic lifters, so owners need to remember to periodically adjust the valve clearances. The manufacturer specifies an interval of 40 thousand km.

Typical faults

The R20 series engine can sometimes be annoying with its knocking. There are two fairly common reasons. The first is the valves. This can happen either due to incorrect adjustment or because this procedure has not been performed for a long time. The second common cause is the characteristic sound of the adsorber valve. This is considered a normal design feature.

Sometimes the drive belt tensioner can add unnecessary sounds. As practice shows, its service life is on average 100 thousand km, after which it may require replacement.

A feature of the engine is vibration when cold. If it continues after warming up, then first of all you should check the supports. Most often the reason is on the left.

When using low-quality fuel, the service life of the catalyst and lambda probe can be significantly reduced. It is also worth paying attention to the quality of the oil. The i-VTEC system is very sensitive in this matter.

K24 series motors can cause more problems. This mainly concerns malfunctions associated with exhaust camshafts, or rather with their regular wear. There are many theories about why this malfunction occurs time after time after repair, but there is still no exact answer. The owners can only change the wearing part, or repair the cylinder head.

The remaining problems were also inherited from the predecessor K24A1, but they are not so critical and can be easily solved thanks to the operating experience of the previous modification.

Engine life

Motors of the R20 series are quite reliable and can easily last up to 200 thousand km. Many copies reach up to 300 thousand. The key to such mileage is timely maintenance and the use of high-quality oil.

The K24Z1 engine is of course more troublesome due to its problem with the camshafts. It is worth noting that if we ignore this problem, the unit is quite reliable. Its resource potential makes it possible to increase mileage of 300+ thousand km before major repairs. But this is also possible subject to high-quality and timely service.

IV generation (2011-2016)

We can say that this new generation has presented little new for owners in terms of equipping with engines. The model was equipped with the already familiar in-line four of the usual volumes of 2.0 and 2.4 liters.

  • 2.0 l. (150 hp) R20A;
  • 2.4 l. (190 hp) K24W.

The smaller engine was “inherited” from the previous generation, so its characteristics remained at the same level. The larger engine of the K24 series has been significantly redesigned.

First of all, the power system received changes, which now featured direct fuel injection. The intake/exhaust design has changed fundamentally, and the camshafts have also received design changes. The response settings of the proprietary VTEC system have also undergone changes. All this made it possible to significantly improve performance characteristics.

It should be noted that the K24W series engine was also installed on the fifth generation CR-V. However, it was a derated version with 184 hp.

Features and malfunctions

Since the installed engines of the R20 series have not undergone fundamental changes, the encountered malfunctions remain for the most part the same. Knocks from the cylinder head valves and the canister valve, problems with the attachment belt tensioner, characteristic engine vibrations - all these features continued to cause inconvenience to the owners of the IV generation CR-V. The engine is still very demanding on the quality of fuel and oil.

Despite significant redesign, the K24 series engine also received unpleasant features from its predecessor. First of all, this concerns the same problem with wear of camshafts. Owners just need to keep this design feature in mind and regularly monitor the condition of the cylinder head components.

Minor shortcomings in the form of vibrations, leaks of the front crankshaft oil seal and floating speed are not so critical and can be easily resolved.

Vibration may be due to stretching of the timing chain drive, which can be treated by replacement. Sometimes the cause may be a worn engine mount. Floating speed is removed by cleaning the throttle valve and idle air valve.

For forced versions of the K24 series engines, which are the K24W engines, malfunctions of the solenoid, as well as crackling of the VTC system gear, are typical. The exact cause of this phenomenon has not been identified, but the most likely is considered to be oil starvation due to untimely oil changes.

What is the service life of CR-V 4 engines?

The engines have no fundamental differences from the previous generation of the model in terms of service life. The 2.0-liter engine, which is simpler in design, runs quite easily up to 200 thousand km. There are also cases of long runs without major intervention.

The 2.4 engine is technologically more complex, and therefore requires more attention during operation. Its more complex and sensitive power system should also be taken into account. However, if the engine is in the caring hands of the owner, who is aware of the need for competent regular maintenance, such a motor can travel more than 300 thousand km.

A particularly important point for both engines is constant monitoring and timely adjustment of valve clearances. The manufacturer measured the interval between such procedures at 40 thousand km.

The Honda CR-V is a five-seat small Japanese crossover that is so popular that it has been produced since 1995 to this day. The SRV model has 5 generations.

History of Honda CR-V

ATTENTION! A completely simple way to reduce fuel consumption has been found! Don't believe me? An auto mechanic with 15 years of experience also didn’t believe it until he tried it. And now he saves 35,000 rubles a year on gasoline!

The abbreviation "CR-V" translated from English stands for "small recreational vehicle." This model is produced in several countries at once:

  • Japan;
  • Great Britain;
  • Mexico;
  • Canada;
  • China.

The Honda CR-V is a cross between the small HR-V and the impressive Pilot. The car is produced for most regions, including Russia, Canada, China, Europe, USA, Japan, Malaysia and so on.

First version of Honda SRV

The first version of this car from Honda was presented as a concept back in 1995. It is worth noting that the SRV was the first-born in the line of crossovers, which was designed by Honda without outside help. Initially, it was sold exclusively in Japanese dealerships and was considered a premium class, since due to its dimensions it exceeded the legally established standards. In 1996, at the Chicago Motor Show, a model for the North American market was unveiled.

It should be noted that the first generation of this model was produced in only one configuration, called “LX” and was equipped with a gasoline inline four-cylinder engine “B20B”, with a volume of 2.0 liters and a maximum power of 126 hp. Essentially, it was the same 1.8-liter internal combustion engine that was installed on the Honda Integra, but with some modifications, such as an expanded cylinder diameter (up to 84 mm) and a one-piece liner design.

The car body is a supporting structure reinforced with double wishbones. The car's signature style included plastic bumper and fender covers, as well as folding rear seats and a picnic table located in the lower part of the trunk. Later, the CR-V was released in the “EX” configuration, which was equipped with an ABS system and alloy wheels. The car also had an all-wheel drive system (Real-Time AWD), but versions with a front-wheel drive layout were also produced.

Below is a table showing the main characteristics of the B20B engine, which was installed on the first version of the SRV and after the restyled B20Z power unit:

Engine nameB20BB20Z
Engine displacement, cc1972 1972

Efficiency, l/100 km5,8 – 9,8 8,4 – 10
Cylinder diameter, mm84 84
Compression ratio9.5 9.6
Piston stroke, mm89 89

In 1999, the first generation of this model was restyled. The only change in the updated version was the upgraded engine, which slightly increased power and slightly increased torque. The engine acquired an increased compression ratio, the intake manifold was replaced, and the exhaust valve lift was increased.

Second version of Honda SRV

The next version of the SRV model became slightly larger in overall dimensions and added weight. In addition, the design of the car was completely changed, its platform was transferred to another Honda model - Civic, and a new K24A1 engine appeared. Despite the fact that in the North American version it had a power of 160 hp and 220 Nm of torque, its fuel and economic characteristics remained at the level of previous power units. All this is implemented using the i-VTEC system. Below is a schematic diagram of how it works:

Due to a more thoughtful design of the rear suspension of the car, the trunk volume was increased to 2 thousand liters.

For reference! Authoritative publication of Car and Driver in 2002-2003. named Honda SRV as the "Best Compact Crossover". The success of this car prompted Honda to release a more budget version of the Element crossover!

Restyling of this generation CR-V took place in 2005, which led to changes in the front and rear optics, the radiator grille and front bumper were updated. The most important innovations from a technical point of view were an electronic throttle, an automatic transmission (5 steps), and a modified all-wheel drive system.

Below are all the power units that this model was equipped with:

Engine nameK20A4K24A1N22A2

Piston stroke, mm86 99 97.1

Third version of Honda SRV

The third generation CR-V was produced from 2007 to 2011 and was distinguished by the fact that the model became noticeably shorter, lower, but wider. In addition, the trunk lid began to open upward. Among the changes we can also note the lack of sound insulation and the presence of a through passage between the rows of seats.

This crossover became the most popular in the American market in 2007, overtaking the Ford Explorer, which held the leading position for fifteen long years.

For reference! Due to the overwhelming demand for the CR-V, Honda has even suspended production of the new Civic to utilize additional production capacity and satisfy customer interest!

Restyling of the third generation SRV brought a number of design changes, including bumpers, radiator grille, and lights. The engine power was increased (up to 180 hp) and at the same time fuel consumption decreased.

Below is a table of engines for this generation:

Fourth version of Honda SRV

Production started in 2011 and this model was produced until 2016.

The car was characterized by a more powerful 185 hp power unit and a new all-wheel drive system. The facelift was distinguished by a new version of the engine with direct injection, as well as a continuously variable transmission. In addition, the CR-V has become much better to handle thanks to new springs, stabilizers and shock absorbers. This car was equipped with the following engines:

Engine nameR20AK24A

Fifth version of Honda SRV

The debut took place in 2016, the car features a completely new platform, borrowed from the X generation Honda Civic.

The line of power units is characterized by the fact that a special turbocharged L15B7 engine is produced for the American market, while in Russia versions are sold only with naturally aspirated gasoline engines.

Choosing a Honda SRV power unit

The internal combustion engines that Honda SRV is equipped with of any generation are distinguished by good reliability and maintainability. Owners of these vehicles do not encounter any particular operational problems if they perform timely maintenance and follow the recommendations for the optimal selection of engine oil and filters.

For drivers who prefer a quiet ride, the most rational choice would be the R20A9 naturally aspirated gasoline engine, which has relatively low fuel consumption and good driving dynamics. However, it is the most popular on the Russian market.

The Honda CR-V is one of those cars that you don't fall in love with at first sight. True charm is revealed only on the second date. It takes some time to get used to its shape. In particular, to the unusual rear pillars.

The interior seems somewhat dated. The plastics used are hard, but the quality and accuracy of the fit are at a high level. The instrument panel is clear and the numbers are easy to read.

A nice detail is the soft upholstery of the central panel at the point of contact with the feet. Soft upholstery is also present on the front armrests. As for the seats, they, like many Japanese cars, are short.

Behind the tailgate lies a class-record compartment with a volume of 589 liters. The asymmetrically split rear seat folds in a 3:2 ratio. The simple transformation scheme deserves praise. Simply pull the lever on the side of the trunk and the seatbacks recline forward.

In 2013, the Honda SR-V earned 5 stars in crash tests according to EuroNCAP. Passenger protection turned out to be almost perfect. But the American test, according to IIHS, was not so successful. The 2012 model failed during the small-overlap frontal impact test. The driver's legs were seriously injured. The 2015 crossover showed dramatic changes and earned the “Top Safety Pick+” sign (high level of safety).

The model was updated in 2015. External changes are minor - new optics, the front bumper and radiator grille have changed. Ground clearance was increased from 165 to 180 mm (from 175 to 182 in 2.4). The range now includes a front-wheel drive version with a base 2-liter engine. The crossover began to be equipped more richly.

It is noteworthy that cars with a 2-liter unit were assembled in England, and with a 2.4 engine - in the USA. Moreover, the Honda CR-V from the USA has a pedal parking brake, while those from England have a classic handbrake. The differences are also noticeable in the build quality, not in favor of the American one.

Engines

In official dealer showrooms, only cars with naturally aspirated gasoline engines with a capacity of 2.0 liters (R20) and 2.4 liters (K24) were sold.

Basic 2.0 i-VTEC with output of 150 hp. more suitable for moving around the city. On the highway it lacks traction. The 2.4 i-VTEC is noticeably more energetic.

Before restyling, the 2.4 developed 190 hp. (K24Z7), and after – 188 hp. (K24Z9) Loss 2 hp. associated with modernization - direct fuel injection was used, the shape of the combustion chamber and piston group were modified. As a result, torque increased by 25 Nm to 245 Nm, which improved dynamics and slightly reduced fuel consumption.

All engines have a timing chain drive and mechanical valve clearance adjustment. It is recommended to check the gap every 45,000 km. The operation is quite simple, and the adjustment mechanism is convenient - a screw-nut.

Only in some instances did the timing chain stretch after 100-150 thousand km. The cost of a new timing kit is 15,000 rubles, and replacement work is only 5,000 rubles.

Some owners, more often of cars with a 2.4 engine, note increased oil consumption - 0.3-0.5 l / 1000 km. Usually the disease occurs after 80-120 thousand km. The problem is not widespread, but it does occur. As a rule, the reason is stuck rings due to the use of low-quality fuel or untimely oil changes.

The problem is that there is no low oil level indicator. Therefore, regular monitoring of the oil level is mandatory. There were incidents involving draining of the lubrication system and subsequent overhaul of the engine (the liners turned). Honda protected itself by declaring a gigantic permissible oil consumption - 1 liter per 1000 km!

Another problem with the 2.4 i-VTEC is the noise of the intake camshaft VTC phase shifter gear when starting a cold engine. In 2014, a service bulletin was issued ordering the replacement of the gear with a modernized one. You will have to pay 11-12 thousand rubles for a new gear.

There are also isolated cases of chipping of the cams of the intake camshaft of a 2.4-liter engine. The cost of a new shaft is from 16 to 35 thousand rubles.

Transmission

A six-speed manual transmission was only available on the 2-liter unit. A 5-speed automatic was offered as an option, which was the only option for the 2.4 i-VTEC. After restyling in 2015, versions from 2.4 began to be equipped with a CVT.

All boxes are enviably reliable and usually do not cause problems.

The all-wheel drive system is designed primarily to improve traction on public roads. In difficult areas the system is not effective enough. And if you stubbornly push for a break, the clutch overheats quite quickly.

In the CR-V, it was not uncommon to encounter an all-wheel drive system failure accompanied by an error message and an illuminated AWD light. Usually it went to owners of cars with a 2-liter engine. For example, the wire located on the negative terminal of the battery broke off. Or the relay located under the trunk trim failed (2000 rubles).

But the most unpleasant reason is the failure of the solenoid installed in the gearbox. To replace it, it is necessary to dismantle and completely disassemble the unit. Honda upgraded the solenoid (about 6,000 rubles). They will ask for at least 5,000 rubles for the work. The disease affected units of the 13th model year.

Chassis

The suspension absorbs bumps better at high speeds. At lower speeds, the chassis conveys information about bumps in too much detail. Cars with a large engine are less picky about minor defects on the road.

Perhaps the weakest point in the suspension is the rear springs (if you do not take into account the stabilizer struts and bushings). They can sag closer to 100,000 km. As a result, the wheel alignment disappears, the wheels become hollow, and the tire tread on the inside begins to wear out. The cost of a new spring is 7,000 rubles.

By this time, the shock absorbers may also give up. The front ones are available for 12-18 thousand rubles, and the rear ones for 4-6 thousand rubles. Sometimes it is necessary to replace broken silent blocks of levers – usually the front ones (3,000 rubles).

Soon the rear wheel bearing, usually the right one, may start humming. It is replaced complete with the hub: 21,000 rubles for the original and 6,000 for an analogue.

After 80-120 thousand km, the steering rack may knock. The reason is play in the right tie rod due to bushing wear. A repair kit with a new bushing is available for 5,000 rubles.

The brakes may also require maintenance - the guides of the front calipers wear out (a knock appears), and the rear calipers become sour.

Other problems and malfunctions

In the spring of 2016, Honda announced a recall of CR-Vs sold between July 20, 2013 and July 30, 2015. The reason is the infamous Takata airbags, which, when deployed during accidents, have killed or maimed.

Of course, there is no talk of body corrosion yet. But owners of a Honda SR-V with a sunroof often find rust along the front edge of the metal glass frame.

On pre-restyling SRVs, the LEDs in the spoiler brake light located on the tailgate often burn out. The cost of a new original flashlight is 4,000 rubles, and an analogue one is 2,000 rubles.

After 4-6 years, one of the rear parking sensors may fail. The original sensor will cost 10,000 rubles. Fortunately, on a well-known Chinese Internet site you can find an analogue for only 800 rubles.

From time to time, the rear seat locks begin to make an unpleasant rattling noise.

Conclusion

The Honda CR-V will prove to be a good alternative to a minivan or large station wagon. The car looks like a serious SUV and boasts a roomy interior and a large trunk. But it is not suitable for outdoor trips. Don't forget that this is just a good all-weather passenger car.
