My wife owns a 2012 Volvo S60. During the 2nd year of operation of the car, contract No. 0790W/212/027982004931 “Volvo Extended Warranty” was paid for on one of the Volvo structure sites. You receive an email from Volvo advertising the Volvo Extended Warranty service and a payment link. After payment, you find out that you actually purchased a “breakdown insurance policy” from AlfaStrakhovanie. On September 13, 2014, an engine breakdown occurred in a 2012 Volvo S60 owned by the car; on the same day, the car was delivered to the Volvo dealer Musa-Motors on Magistralnaya. A step-by-step diagnostic was carried out, which took 3 weeks, at the end of which the dealer informed us that they would not repair anything, since AlfaStrakhovanie refused to pay for repair work, since its specialists decided that the breakdown occurred due to the use of low-quality fuel. The “Volvo car specialists” did not confirm their hypotheses with any evidence. We sent a fuel sample for examination, which was taken by the dealer's employees during the diagnostics. The analysis showed that the fuel is of excellent quality and complies with all GOST standards, which is not surprising, since the car has been refueled at the same BP gas station all its life, which is easily confirmed by all available receipts and the VOC system installed in our car.

The breakdown that occurred with our engine is typical and is a factory defect. The Volvo representative office in Russia is well aware of this, and cars with this breakdown that have a factory warranty are repaired without any questions asked. Unfortunately, our car is now covered by the Volvo Extended Warranty, which they misled us into thinking was an extension of the factory warranty. AlfaStrakhovanie is not interested in quickly returning the car to operation, since, unlike a dealer, it is not in danger of losing the brand’s reputation. Therefore, its “specialists”, who understand Volvo engines better than the dealer without seeing the car, endlessly put forward hypotheses taken out of thin air about the causes of the malfunction, delaying the start of repairs, openly mocking the client.

As a result of using the services of AlfaStrakhovanie, a bona fide consumer of a Volvo car has been deprived of the opportunity to use it for almost a month. Expensive contracts such as Casco, VOC, and Volvo Extended Warranty expire, causing additional financial losses to the consumer.

After such blatant and cynical lies, the purpose of which is to exhaust the consumer and force him to either refuse to receive services under the “guarantee” or go to court for months, I will, in principle, never use the services of any company of the Alpha group. The existing CASCO insurance from AlfaStrakhovanie will not be renewed, I will never again buy policies for traveling abroad, not to mention “extended warranties”. All my friends and acquaintances will learn about the methods of “work” of AlfaStrakhovanie.

In one of the law firms that I contacted while selecting candidates for our legal support, they offered me an interesting service - “to resolve the issue from the inside.” Allegedly, they employ a former employee of AlfaStrakhovanie, who has contacts with his former colleagues. I refused this “service” because I consider myself an absolutely conscientious consumer whose rights are being violated. But I do not exclude such a reason for the emergence of difficulties “out of the blue” in the process of settling losses.

Spare parts warranty

Owner's responsibility

To benefit from the Volvo warranty, the vehicle owner must:

1. Properly operate, care for, and maintain the vehicle in accordance with the requirements set forth in the owner's manual.

2. Carry out all necessary warranty repairs only from official Volvo dealers.

3. Maintain documentation related to maintenance and repair in case questions arise regarding the vehicle's repair history.

New car warranty

For all new Volvo vehicles sold by an authorized Volvo dealer, Volvo guarantees the following:

Within thirty-six months from the date of delivery of the car to the first owner, any malfunction resulting from poor-quality materials or manufacturing defects will be repaired free of charge by an authorized Volvo dealer.

Volvo considers the date of delivery of the vehicle (that is, the date the new vehicle is delivered to the first owner) to begin the warranty period.

Warranty for spare parts

For all genuine new or replacement Volvo parts, Volvo guarantees the following:

Within twelve months, regardless of mileage, from the date of purchase of the spare part from a Volvo dealer, any malfunction caused by poor-quality material or manufacturing defects will be repaired free of charge.

If parts are supplied but not installed by a Volvo dealer, the warranty will only cover their cost, not labor.

If parts requiring special skills and tools for installation are sold but not installed by a Volvo dealer, this may void the warranty.

Note

1. The warranty period for a spare part replaced under the factory warranty ends simultaneously with the end of the vehicle warranty.

2. The warranty period for a part replaced under this warranty will not be extended if it is replaced again.

3. The warranty does not apply to spare parts that are replaced free of charge to the customer.

4. These warranty obligations in no way affect the rights of the owner provided for by applicable law.

Exclusions from Warranties

1. Cost of materials and labor associated with the Volvo maintenance program.

2. Parts replaced due to normal wear and tear, including, but not limited to, clutch linings, brake linings, pads and rotors, windshield wipers, lamps and fuses.

3. Periodic adjustments, including, but not limited to, wheel balancing, headlight and door adjustments, chassis stretching, wheel alignment, and fuel and exhaust system checks.

4. Damage to paint, trim, glass and chrome parts caused by normal wear and tear or any external influence, including, but not limited to, bird glue, precipitation, chips and scratches caused by exposure to stones.

5. Any components not supplied by Volvo that are used as replacements for original components, and any damage caused by the use of components not supplied by Volvo.

6. Damage to components caused by modification or alteration that causes the vehicle to no longer meet its original specification.

7. Damage resulting from the use of the vehicle in racing, rallying or other competitions, or for any other purpose other than normal personal or commercial use, or from the use of unsuitable fuels and lubricants.

8. Damage sustained by the vehicle as a result of an accident, acts of vandalism or theft.

9. Any vehicle with an altered, replaced or removed identification number and/or chassis number, or with an illegally altered odometer reading.

10. All costs and damages arising as a result of a defect eliminated in accordance with the warranty.

11. Tires, with the exception of defects caused by Volvo. Tires are subject to separate warranties from the tire manufacturer or its representative in the market. Volvo dealers will make every reasonable effort to assist owners in obtaining compliance with such warranties by the relevant manufacturers or their representatives.

12. Any costs associated with a fault that is considered not to be correctable under this Volvo warranty.
