Mitsubishi Lancer X sedan. Mitsubishi Lancer X: pros and cons of generation X. What is the ground clearance of the Lancer 10

The creation of the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 is a matter of constant improvement and development. The new X was developed in Germany, in Trebur, a design office in Frankfurt. Many years have passed since the appearance of the first generation (1973), the car has gone through many restylings and generations, winning the hearts of millions of car enthusiasts. The main features of the first models are also present in Lancer X. The most striking values that underlie each one are the desire to develop and improve. Since the appearance of the model, the car has become one of the most popular in many countries. Many people choose this car because the price-quality ratio in this model is simply ideal. The emergence of a new generation Mitsubishi Lancer X means a new round of history in Lancer design.

Mitsubishi Lancer X design

An important milestone in the history of the model's development was the new design. The main design element of the front of the car is the stylized logo Mitsubishi Motors company. The upper and lower parts of the radiator grille reflect the future development of the concept of building new Lancer models. The aggressive shark nose has become the hallmark of the new generation Mitsubishi Lancer.

The new one is defined not only by the front end of the body, but also by the sharp air intakes and spoilers on the trunk lid. The low stance and wide tire footprint are elements of the sporty concept that attract many motorists, especially young ones.

Inside the Mitsubishi Lancer X

When creating the interior of the cabin, the designers used only high quality materials and carefully thought through every detail. The interior interior combines comfort and convenience. The front panel is worthy of special attention, because the handles on it are located in such a way that the machine is intuitively easy to operate. The panel itself is presented in a modern style.

Model Mitsubishi Lancer 10 is a new family created on the basis of the Project Global platform. Using a new approach to building cars made it possible to increase the dimensions, size and space inside the cabin, as well as maintain the rigidity of the body, which was in the previous generation. On the same platform, . Thanks to this platform, the model has become larger than its predecessors. The car has become longer by 8 cm and wider by 6 cm.

Among competitors, Lancer is one of the favorites in the race for supremacy. The distance between the front seats has also increased (by 25 m), and the upper part of the cabin has also become wider by 51 mm. Despite the fact that the car body has become larger, the turning radius of 5 meters remains the same.

Transmission Lancer X

Motorists have three options to choose from:

  • 6-speed CVT transmission;
  • 5-speed manual;
  • Automatic INVECS-II;

Those who buy a Mitsubishi Lancer X choose between three options: Invite, Invite+ and Instense.

Driving safety in Mitsubishi Lancer X

Special RISE technology, which provides a high level of strength and safety, was also used in the construction of the Lancer X. The body structure is created in such a way that it reliably ensures the safety of the passengers inside. In the event of a side or rear impact, the body distributes the energy and protects the fuel system to avoid fire.

Security package Mitsubishi Lancer X one of the best of its kind. It includes:

  • 2 airbags;
  • Passenger presence sensors;
  • Standard side airbags;
  • Overhead airbags;
  • Airbag to protect the driver's knees;

Mitsubishi Motors knows how to make rally cars. This fact proves that Lancer Evolution won 4 victories in suspension design. A reliable and durable chassis ensures confident movement on any road, regardless of surface.

For the safety of passengers inside, there is an anti-lock brake system (), which monitors the level of traction of each wheel with the road. Electronic (EBD) perfectly distributes braking forces between the front and rear wheels. Such advances in development allow you to enjoy every moment behind the wheel.

Photos of Mitsubishi Lancer 10

The 10th generation of Mitsubishi Lancer was truly a breakthrough, because the model has few similarities with previous generations, which is very impressive for car enthusiasts.

Mitsubishi Lancer 10 generation, which today is sold at dealers, has lost its former popularity, compared to competitors. Although a couple of years ago the Mitsubishi Lancer was so popular that it ranked first in thefts in its class. Despite its sporty appearance, which is still relevant today, in essence the Lancer 10 is an ordinary city sedan.

Lancer models have been produced in Japan since 1973, having survived 10 generations and countless restylings. The car is sold under various names in the USA, Latin America, and Asia. For each specific automotive market, the manufacturer offers its own set of power units and transmissions. In Russia today, buyers are offered the Mitsubishi Lancer X with two gasoline engines with a displacement of 1.6 and 1.8 liters with a capacity of 117 and 140 horsepower, respectively. As a transmission, the front-wheel drive Mitsubishi Lancer 10 sedan has both manual and automatic transmissions. We will talk in more detail about the technical characteristics of the car below.

For now, let's talk about the design of the Lancer, which made the car very popular due to its aggressive style. The new body, which was shown in 2011, became several centimeters longer, wider and higher. The front end, with its huge vertical radiator grille slanted at a slight angle, was a new milestone in corporate style. Later, something similar appeared on the Outlander and the more compact ACX. The most interesting thing is that this design was only suitable for a sedan; an attempt to release a Mitsubishi Lancer in a hatchback body was a failure.

The similarity of an ordinary car to the charged Evolution modification had a very positive effect on car sales among young people who do not have money for a charged version. Moreover, in some versions the regular Lancer has a spoiler on the trunk, a plastic body kit, and a low ground clearance with stylish wheels and low-profile tires. Next we offer Lancer exterior photos.

Mitsubishi Lancer salon in all trim levels in Russia fabric. The wheelbase of 2635 mm makes the interior space quite spacious to accommodate 5 adult passengers. Practical, but hard plastic all around. In more expensive trim levels, the gearshift lever and steering wheel are trimmed in leather. Almost all trim levels have an armrest for the driver and seat height adjustment. For rear passengers there is an armrest (with cup holder) built into the back of the seat. In expensive trim levels, the stereo control is located on the steering wheel and there are gear shift paddles on the steering wheel. Photos of Lancer's interior look further.

Mitsubishi Lancer X trunk Although it gives a complete look to the entire image of the car, it cannot boast of a large size. The luggage compartment volume of the sedan is only 315 liters. There is a full-size spare tire under the trunk floor. The rear seat backrest easily folds in a ratio of 40 to 60, making the car more practical. Technical characteristics of Mitsubishi Lancer

As for the technical characteristics of 10th generation Lancer gasoline engines. In our country, the manufacturer offers a 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder, 16-valve unit with a power of 117 hp as the base engine. The maximum torque is 154 Nm, which is not small. Transmission options in combination with this engine include a 4-speed automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual transmission. Acceleration to the first hundred with an automatic and manual transmission is 10.8 and 14.1 seconds, respectively. Maximum speed 190 (manual transmission) and 180 (automatic transmission) km/h. As for average fuel consumption, the manufacturer indicates 6.1 liters for manuals and 7.1 for automatics.

The more powerful Mitsubishi Lancer X engine with a displacement of 1.8 liters is the same in-line 4-cylinder, 16-valve petrol engine with proprietary MIVEC injection. This unit already produces 140 hp. at 178 Nm of torque. Everything is combined with the same 5-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable CVT transmission. Dynamic characteristics with a manual transmission are not much better; acceleration to a stop occurs in 10 seconds, versus 10.8 seconds. with 1.6 l engine. However, the maximum speed is already 202 km/h. As for fuel consumption, it is noticeably higher than that of the base engine and amounts to 7.5 liters in the combined cycle. The CVT variator also does not spoil the economy with the 1.8 engine. The Lancer consumes 7.8 liters in mixed mode, and in the city in general almost 11 liters. If you consider that in practice the consumption will be even higher, then it’s worth considering whether you need such a motor under the hood.

By the way, the 10th generation Lancer power units consume only AI-95 gasoline as fuel. Further details overall dimensions of Mitsubishi Lancer, ground clearance, weight, volumes and other useful technical information about the sedan.

Video Mitsubishi Lancer

Video review of Mitsubishi Lancer X.

In previous years, the Mitsubishi Lancer sedan was the best-selling car of the Japanese manufacturer on the Russian market. However, today the situation has changed radically. Our fellow citizens are buying sedans less and less and prefer crossovers more and more. Today, Mitsubishi's best-selling model is the Outlander crossover, which was originally created on the platform of the same Lancer.

Very often on the streets of our cities you can see a car like the Mitsubishi Lancer. The model is very popular not only in Russia, but also in the CIS. The ninth and tenth generations of sedans enjoy special recognition. The difference between them is big, and many car enthusiasts cannot make a choice. But still, most people advise purchasing the tenth generation (“Mitsubishi Lancer X”). Why is this machine relevant and why has it become so widespread? We'll find out in our article today.

Mitsubishi Lancer 10 is a Japanese C-class car. Serial production of the car began in 2007 and ended in 2015. The manufacturer positions this model as a bright sedan with a memorable appearance.

Design

The appearance of the car really turned out to be bright. And if the “nine” was boring in many ways, then this generation will not leave anyone indifferent. The car looks good primarily due to its shark silhouette and wide radiator grille. In the new generation, the Japanese have redesigned almost all parts of the body. Thus, the optics, hood, geometry of the bumper, rear lights and even the side line were changed. Mitsubishi Lancer 10 is not at all similar to its predecessor. The car comes standard with 16-inch spoked wheels. But many people do tuning. Mitsubishi Lancer 10 looks great with wheels from Evolution, as well as various plastic body kits. And although the car comes from the factory with decorative overlays, the owners add an additional “lip” to the bumper (a la the budget Evik). This gives the car even more aggression and sportiness. Unlike the Nine, the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 is very easy to tune. It is impossible to go unnoticed with this car. The Japanese created too vivid an image.

A distinctive feature of the tenth generation is the high spoiler on the trunk lid. But it is not available in all trim levels. With it, the image of the car is more harmonious and complete. Spoilers from the sports version of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution also fit here.

What do owner reviews say about the body and paintwork of the Japanese car Mitsubishi Lancer 10? The metal on this sedan is thinner than on the Nine. However, rust does not form for a long time. Over five to seven years of operation, barely noticeable “spiders” may appear in the trunk lid area. And that’s because it’s constantly humid in this place. But the paintwork leaves much to be desired. The front gets chipped quickly. Yes, the metal does not rust. But who needs a car with such paint flaws? Therefore, it makes sense to “roll up” the car in transparent armored film, at least from the front. This way you can really preserve the original appearance of the paintwork.

"Mitsubishi Lancer 10": dimensions, ground clearance

In terms of dimensions, this sedan is not very different from the previous generation (it has only slightly increased in length). Thus, the length of the body is 4.5 meters, width - 1.76, height - 1.7 meters. The ground clearance is the same as that of the “nine” - 16.5 centimeters. But the cross-country characteristics of these cars are different. And all because of the low front bumper and plastic door sills. They significantly reduce the ground clearance and reduce the approach angle. Therefore, fans of external tuning should be careful when purchasing “lips” and other body kits. In winter, such a bumper will work like a grader. However, if you believe the reviews, the car drives on forest roads without problems.

Interior

If externally the car has changed radically, then in terms of interior, the Mitsubishi Lancer X is not far from the previous generation. The front panel architecture remains the same, with the exception of the instrument panel. Now it has two separate wells, between which there is a digital on-board computer. The steering wheel is three-spoke, with a small set of buttons. The steering wheel has a comfortable grip; the gear knob and climate control unit are located nearby. Ergonomics in the Lancer are excellent. But what remains the same is the quality of sound insulation. Hard, almost oak plastic is still used in the cabin, and driving noises can be heard from everywhere.

What problems do owners encounter when operating a Mitsubishi Lancer 10? Reviews note that after 140-150 thousand, the contact of the airbag system sensor rots in the cabin. This sensor cannot be repaired. The trouble is also accompanied by the fact that when an element malfunctions, a lamp with a corresponding indication lights up on the instrument panel (the so-called “pregnant man”). And although the airbag has never fired in this car, the lamp will be on every day.

Trunk

According to reviews from owners, the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 has a fairly small trunk volume. Compared to the “nine”, it decreased by more than a hundred liters. So, the total volume is only 316 liters.

And due to the ill-conceived shape of the trunk, it is impossible to transport large items on the Lancer. But under the floor there is a niche for a full-size 16-inch spare wheel.

Power part

The most popular engines in Russia are 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter units with distributed injection. The power of the first is 117 horsepower. What are the dynamic characteristics of this Mitsubishi Lancer 10? Owner reviews say that this engine spins up a little faster than on the “nine”. Acceleration to hundreds takes from 10.8 to 14 seconds. Why such a run up? It's simple: this engine has several gearboxes. It's an old four-speed automatic and five-speed manual. Fuel consumption for the 1.6-liter version ranges from 7 to 9 liters in mixed mode.

As for the second engine, it develops a power of 140 horsepower. This unit is equipped with a manual transmission or CVT. Mitsubishi Lancer 10 with the latest gearbox is a very rare copy in Russia. Many people do not recommend buying a Lancer with a CVT. Reviews say that this box is unreliable and expensive to maintain. Even with moderate use, its resource barely reaches 150 thousand kilometers. And the cost of repairs can reach up to two thousand dollars. Mechanics in this regard are more reliable. Its resource is even higher than that of the motor itself - for 300 thousand.

In terms of dynamics, the 1.8-liter Lancer shows good results. Acceleration to hundreds takes from 10 to 11.5 seconds. Maximum speed is 202 kilometers per hour. At the same time, the consumption does not differ significantly from the younger version. The car spends 7.5-8 liters of gasoline per hundred.

Mitsubishi Lancer 10: price

Now there are a lot of copies on the secondary market. So, a ten-year version can be purchased for 350-400 thousand rubles. What is the price for the 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer 10? These copies are sold for 550-600 thousand.

Let's sum it up

So, we found out what the tenth generation Mitsubishi Lancer is. The car combines a dynamic image and a reliable power unit. This is an excellent option for young people and for those who want a bright and inexpensive car to maintain.

The 10th generation Lancer, beloved by Russian motorists, was produced in several modifications and trim levels. Over the years, versions of this machine for the USA, Europe and Russia were rolled off the assembly line. Models intended for the Japanese domestic market deserve special attention.

In the domestic market from 2007 to 2016, 40 modifications of front-wheel drive and 5 all-wheel drive models were offered, in Japan from 2008 to 2019 there were 10 and 6 modifications, respectively, in Europe from 2007 to 2017 - 40 front-wheel drive options and only 2 all-wheel drive models, in America from 2007 to 2017 – 25 and 10 modifications, respectively.

Torque of Lancer 10 from 121 to 407 N*m. The following transmissions are used: CVT, mechanical (5 and 6 steps), automatic 4 steps, robotic 6 steps. Ground clearance in Russian models is 150/165 mm, in Japanese – 135/145/150 mm, European – 140/150 mm, American – 135/140 mm. The power of the tenth generation engines is 90-201 horsepower.

Disadvantages of the model

The car is high quality and durable. With proper care, it is difficult to find pockets of corrosion even on fairly old models. But many in the 10th model did not like the technical stuffing, since many elements from previous generations were used. The paintwork is quite weak; with active use and the desire to drive, chips and scratches will appear very soon. However, the anti-corrosion resistance, as mentioned, is very good.

The most problematic engine is the 1.5 liter model; the main disadvantages are considered to be coking of the piston rings and high oil consumption. This can happen over a period of up to one hundred thousand kilometers, but much depends on the quality of the fluid, the frequency of its replacement and the operation of the car. Minor problems are considered:

  • burnout of exhaust system rings - it is important to change filters and transmission oil on time, to avoid slipping;
  • As far as the chassis is concerned, the main problem is the steering rack, which begins to knock over time;
  • there are difficulties with the electric power steering, calipers and brake discs;
  • Electronically, the main disadvantage with the mounting block is that when you turn on the heated mirrors and rear window, the relay is overloaded and begins to melt.
  • The finishing quality is not of the highest quality - poor sound insulation, creaking seats, whistling fan.

Since the appearance of the 10th Lancer model, the car's popularity has been constantly growing. The characteristics of the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 are quite good for its class. The car has always remained in demand, because each update brought advantages, increasing safety and comfort. 5 different configurations were included in this modification of the Lancer. These are MT DE 2010-2011, MT ES 2010-2011, MT DE 2007-2010, MT ES 2007-2010 and MT GTS 2007-2010. All versions had R16 tire size, and only the GTS had R18. The differences between analogues are also noticeable in fuel consumption: the 2007-2010 versions consumed slightly more than the new 2010-2011 versions. The MT GTS is 50 kg heavier than all other trim levels.

In the basic “Invite” configuration, the Mitsubishi Lancer is equipped with air conditioning, ABS with EBD, halogen headlights, 16-inch wheels, heated seats and an on-board computer. There is no audio system as standard. The “Invite+” package is distinguished by the presence of a built-in MP3 radio, fog lights, a leather steering wheel with audio system control buttons, leather gear levers and a parking brake. The maximum configuration “Intense” has climate control and a 6-disc CD changer with the ability to play MP3. External differences between the “Intense” modification and the previous ones are a sports suspension with a ground clearance reduced to 150 mm, a strut between the A-pillars in the engine compartment to increase body rigidity, chrome trim on the radiator grille and an aerodynamic body kit with a large spoiler on the trunk lid. In 2011, the car was restyled, a chrome edging of the radiator grille appeared, a color display on the instrument panel, alloy wheels of a new design, the equipment of the basic configuration was improved, in addition, an even more inexpensive “Inform” package (1.6 MT) was added with simplified exterior design and interior solutions and equipment.

In Russia, this car is offered with 1.5 MIVEC (109 hp) engines with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission and 2.0 MIVEC (150 hp) with the same manual transmission or CVT. After the 2011 restyling, the Mitsubishi Lancer is offered with 1.6 (117 hp) and 1.8 (140 hp) engines, also using the MIVEC system - a proprietary technology for changing the phases and lift height of electronically controlled valves. With its help, optimal power characteristics and reduced fuel consumption are realized. So, for example, with a 1.6 engine, gasoline consumption is 6.1 liters per hundred kilometers. In addition, thanks to this technology, new motors have increased “elasticity” - that is, the ability to develop high torque over a wide speed range.

The suspension of the Mitsubishi Lancer is MacPherson struts with anti-roll bar at the front and multi-link at the rear. This design, typical for several generations now, has been an integral part of the Lancer and, in terms of comfort, distinguishes the car from many of its classmates. Cars with CVT Sport Mode are equipped with steering wheel paddle shifters. Car clearance - 165 mm.

As standard, the car is equipped with two-stage front airbags for the driver and front passenger, seat belt pretensioners, door stiffeners, and ISOFIX fastenings. The following electronic “assistants” are used: anti-lock braking system, brake force distribution system, emergency braking assistance system. In the “Invite+” and Intense trim levels there are additional side airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, and a front passenger airbag with a deactivation function.
