Note 2: for Type 2 cars, GAZ-311052 and GAZ-311053 are indicated, which did not exist in nature. Therefore, special equipment for them was removed from the list.
Note 3: Fuse 13 of the left block of Type 1 and 2 cars is erroneously listed as a "headlight washer relay", actually a windshield washer relay. Corrected.
Note 4: GAZ-310221 and GAZ-310231 were added to the list of Type 3 vehicles, since they were produced in 2007 (i.e. they were “Euro 2”).
Note 5: fuses 11 and 13 of the upper block in Type 6 are indicated for the “KMSUD block”. According to the electrical diagrams - only the 13th.
› Fuse box
7.4. Most electrical circuits are protected fuses located in two blocks on the instrument panel. The fuse numbers are on the block housings. The numbers of fuses, the devices of the circuits they protect, as well as the current strength are given in table. 7.1.
Table 7.1.
Circuits protected by fuses
7.5. To access the fuses, slide the decorative trim with the inscription “Volga” located on the cover of the fuse blocks to the right. Insert your finger into the hole and, pulling the fuse box cover towards you, remove it. If the cover is difficult to remove, you can pry it off with a screwdriver. To remove fuses from the block, it is recommended to use tweezers, which are included with the set of spare fuses. Fuse housings are colored according to the current strength (see Table 7.2).
Table 7.2.
Fuse box color
7.6. To remove the fuse blocks, you need to unscrew two screws securing both blocks. Pull the fuse blocks towards you from the panel so that the plug blocks of the blocks come out of the panel.
Mark the connectors, disconnect them and push them back into the hole in the instrument panel.
7.7. Installed on the left mudguard under the hood additional block of two fuses: a 30 A fuse protects the engine cooling fan circuit; A 60 amp fuse protects all circuits except the starter circuit. To replace fuses, remove the cover of the block and, unscrewing the two screws securing the fuse, replace it.
One fine day, the electrical wiring finally began to take on a life of its own. The reason for this was fuse blocks of type PR121. Blocks of this type have a lot of disadvantages, in particular, they constantly weaken the contact of the circuit with the fuse (which leads to burning of the body of the unit itself and the main wiring) and it is inconvenient to replace a burnt fuse with a new one, etc.
Previously, the upper fuse box had already been replaced due to constant burning.
This time the lower unit failed. The photo below shows sagging and almost falling out fuses (especially the second green one), burnt contacts.
I'm already tired of changing the awl for soap, because... At times, the upper block has already begun to act up. Here it was decided to replace all this disgrace with fuse blocks of the new model 41.3722 from the GAZ-3110.
Differences between old and new types of blocks. The number of fuses in the old block is 10, in the new one 14. The new block does not have internal jumpers (see diagram below). The distance between the holes intended for installation in the new type of block is 4 mm less.
Preparing for work.
In the diagram below, jumpers that are missing in the new blocks are highlighted in red.
These jumpers can be replaced with external ones, made from a piece of wire and MAMA-type automotive terminals. The number and configuration of jumpers is shown in the photo below.
You also need to make a metal strip to mount the new fuse blocks.
Now the subtleties of the replacement procedure itself. You need to start with the lower fuse block, but you need to unscrew both at once. ALL OPERATIONS SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT WITH THE BATTERY DISCONNECTED!!! The wires are rearranged according to the following scheme: disconnect ONE wire from the old block - install it in the new block (after insulating it, see below).
Insulate the terminals using a thermal tube; I do not recommend using electrical tape.
And this is what should happen:
Now we need to solve the issue with different distances between the mounting holes. Make a cut on one side as in the photo below and screw the untouched side of the blocks into place.
Then screw the second side of the fuse blocks through the previously made plate.
The final work should be: selection of fuses of the required (or at least approximate) ratings in accordance with the operating instructions, and full check operability of electrical wiring.
The main functional purpose of the Gazelle fuse box, as in other cars, is protection against short circuits or increased voltage in on-board network. Its task is to promptly open the circuit during overloads, and thereby avoid failure of the electrical appliance it protects.
This is what a gazelle fuse box looks like
Fuses for Gazelle electrical equipment
- The first protective level is provided by power fuses located in a separate mounting block under the hood of the car. Their operation is designed for a significant change in current in the circuit, and their main purpose is short circuit protection.
In this case, two main contours are separated electrical circuit, including:- main positive circuit, excluding lighting devices, And ;
- positive generator circuit and light circuit.
In modifications equipped anti-lock braking system, two additional electrical fuses are installed that are directly responsible for this function.
Electrical fuses in the electrical network
This module uses fuses with a calculated operating current of 40, 60 and 90A, and depending on the Gazelle model, different circuits are protected by a fuse of their rated current. As a rule, 25A electrical fuses are used. - The main fuses and relays in most modifications are divided into two mounting blocks, which are located in engine compartment. Wherein:
Relay designations mounting block Gazelles
It should be noted that in cars manufactured after 2003, new type mounting modules are used, with a more modern fusible design, in which the fusible thread is sealed into a plastic case. At the same time, the electrical circuit diagram for the old and new-style units is different, so replacement with a modern module is possible only with additional modification.
This is what it looks like old block fuses for Gazelle
The distribution of electrical fuses for different purposes and different tripping currents among individual modules ensures not only maximum protection of electrical equipment, but also convenient operation of the vehicle as a whole.
Fundamental differences in the design of the fuse box depending on the Gazelle model
This is what the new fuse box looks like
Design differences of modifications of the Gazelle class, based on various systems protection of electrical equipment can be divided into the following main groups and their features highlighted. Watch the video on how to install a new fuse box.
Cars with carburetor-type gasoline engines
Cars with gasoline injection engines
Diesel vehicles
- A main fuse module similar to the one with additional 5A electrical fuses for the engine control system is installed.
- Modified engine compartment block, including protected circuits:
- air heating system with 125A protection;
Schematic design of the air heating system in a gazelle
- motor control network – 30A;
- lighting fixtures and air conditioning, if installed - 30A;
- common positive circuit, as well as engine heating - 60A;
- additional fuses of 25 and 40A for vehicles with pre-installed ABS.
Diagram with car fuse sizes
- air heating system with 125A protection;
Variety, both in the pre-installed engine and in additional equipment, the multiplicity of their combinations leads, in turn, to differences in the electrical protection system and the design of the mounting block.
Thus, the Gazelle fuse box is a mandatory element of the protective mechanism of the vehicle’s electrical equipment and is implemented taking into account design features specific modification of the car.
The two-level construction of the safety circuit provides reliable protection of on-board devices, both from a short circuit in the machine network and from voltage surges, thereby ensuring their trouble-free operation.
The vehicle's on-board circuit (except the starter circuit) is powered through two fuses.
The lighting circuit is protected by a 40 A fuse, the remaining circuits are 60 A. Both fuses are installed in a block mounted on the bulkhead in the engine compartment.
In addition, each circuit of all electricity consumers is additionally protected by fuses with a lower operating current.
They are located in two blocks under the instrument panel on the driver's side. The rated current of the fuses and the circuits they protect are indicated in the table.
Fuses are numbered from left to right, 8 A - black; 16 A – green.
The starter circuit is designed for short-term high current and has no fuse.
When repairing the electrical system, disconnect the battery. Do not use oversized fuses or homemade fuses - this can lead to failure of the electrical consumer and possibly a fire.
Replacing the central fuses of the vehicle's on-board network
Using your fingers, squeezing the latches on both sides, remove the unit cover.
Using a “10” wrench, unscrew the two nuts and, removing the wires from the studs, replace the faulty fuse with a similar one (40 A or 60 A)
Spare fuses are stored under the cover plate
The lid is held on by two clips
Replacing fuses for electrical equipment circuits
Remove the block cover.
The fuses are installed between the spring terminals.
8 A fuses have a black insulator, 16 A fuses have a green insulator.
They are located in numerical order from left to right.
For cars from 2003. Release the lid lock
Remove the cover to access the fuses
By pressing the lower or upper terminal, remove the faulty fuse and install a new one.
