Nissan Tiida is a modest representative of the golf class. Choosing Nissan Tiida Nissan Tiida ground clearance

Nissan Tiida ground clearance or ground clearance, as for any other passenger car, is an important factor on our roads. It is the condition of the road surface or its complete absence that makes Russian motorists interested in the ground clearance of the Nissan Tiida and the possibility of increasing ground clearance using spacers.

To begin with, it’s worth saying honestly that real ground clearance of Nissan Tiida may differ significantly from what is stated by the manufacturer. The whole secret is in the method of measuring and where to measure ground clearance. Therefore, you can find out the real state of affairs only by arming yourself with a tape measure or ruler. Official ground clearance of Nissan Tiida the current generation of Russian assembly is 155 mm. The more popular and older versions of the first generation Tiida since 2007 have a slightly larger figure of 165 mm; the same clearance remained after the 2010 restyling.

Some manufacturers use a trick and declare the amount of ground clearance in an “empty” car, but in real life we have a trunk full of all kinds of things, passengers and a driver. That is, in a loaded car the ground clearance will be completely different. Another factor that few people take into account is the age of the car and the wear and tear of the springs—their “sagging” due to age. The issue can be resolved by installing new springs or purchasing spacers for sagging springs Nissan Tiida. Spacers allow you to compensate for spring subsidence and add a couple of centimeters of ground clearance. Sometimes even an inch of curb parking makes a difference.

But you shouldn’t get carried away with “lifting” the ground clearance of the Nissan Tiida, because spacers to increase ground clearance are focused only on springs. If you do not pay attention to the shock absorbers, the travel of which is often very limited, then independently upgrading the suspension can lead to loss of controllability and damage to the shock absorbers. From the point of view of cross-country ability, high ground clearance in our harsh conditions is good, but at high speeds on the highway and in corners, serious sway and additional body roll appear.

Any car manufacturer, when designing the suspension and choosing the ground clearance, looks for a middle ground between handling and cross-country ability. Perhaps the simplest, safest and most unpretentious way to increase clearance is to install wheels with “high” tires. Changing wheels makes it easy to increase the ground clearance by another centimeter. Do not forget that a serious change in ground clearance can damage the CV joints of the Nissan Tiida. After all, the “grenades” will have to work at a slightly different angle, not to mention the steering rods and anti-roll bar.

The Japanese automaker Nissan began producing its Tiida model back in 2004, but the new product entered the Russian market only three years later. The car is made in a classic style and can please you with the abundance of available options and a high level of build quality. By the way, Nissan Tiida is supplied from distant Mexico, but in the near future it is planned to establish production at the facilities of the IzhMash plant. In 2013, official dealers are selling remnants of cars produced in 2012, because... In the summer of 2013, a completely new generation of Nissan Tiida will appear.

The design of the Nissan Tiida is based on calm and laconic forms, executed in a classic style. As a result, a car in a hatchback body does not stand out in any way from the general flow, and the sedan attracts attention only with its awkwardness: short, but at the same time tall, complemented by a snub-nosed hood and an almost square trunk. However, the Japanese decided to win the hearts of buyers not with the design of the car, but with the quality of its build and a decent level of equipment. However, it should be immediately noted that the latter primarily applies to more expensive configuration options, and the Tiida base has simple 15-inch steel wheels with 195/65 R15 tires, and moldings with mirrors painted in body color.

  • Speaking of color, dealers currently offer at least 10 body color options, among which the most popular are white, silver, red, and dark blue. Also available in blue, ash, beige, metallic red, dark chocolate and black.
  • The external dimensions of the five-door hatchback and sedan are almost the same and differ only in length: 4303 mm for the hatchback and 4479 mm for the sedan, while the wheelbase in all cases is the same - 2603 mm, the width of both body versions is 1695 mm, the height of the Nissan Tiida is 1525 mm, ground clearance (clearance) - 165 mm.
  • The curb weight of the car, depending on its configuration, varies between 1193 – 1232 kg. The fuel tank capacity is 52 liters.

Despite the modest dimensions of the body width, the interior of the Nissan Tiida is very spacious and is in no way inferior to its class competitors. Japanese engineers optimized everything in the cabin that could be optimized and as a result added the missing 10-12 cm, lost due to the reduction in the width of the body.

The interior in any version of the equipment is finished with high-quality materials, but for budget options mainly fabric upholstery is used, and in top versions the interior is covered with artificial leather in black or beige. The ergonomics of the interior are quite decent, there are absolutely no difficulties in accessing the controls on the front panel, each element is located exactly where it is most convenient to use.

In the rear of the cabin there is enough space to comfortably accommodate three passengers, while the seat can be moved forward/backward by a decent 240 mm or folded in a 60:40 ratio, allowing you to adjust the trunk capacity.

The luggage compartment of a hatchback with five passengers in the cabin can accommodate up to 425 liters, while the trunk of a sedan can boast 463 liters of storage for carrying luggage. By folding the rear row of seats, the cargo capacity of the luggage compartment increases by more than 2.5 times. It is possible to transport objects up to 2400 mm long.

Specifications Nissan Tiida 2012: for the Russian version of the Nissan Tiida, the developers have prepared two engine options, both gasoline. The diesel unit is in demand in Europe, but in our market the Japanese decided to abandon it.

  • In Russia, the most popular is the HR16DE four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1.6 liters, or more precisely, 1598 cm3.

The engine has an in-line cylinder arrangement with a compression ratio of 10.7, equipped with two overhead camshafts and a 16-valve intake/exhaust system. The maximum power of this power plant is 110 hp or 81 kW and is achieved at 6000 rpm. The engine is very productive, its torque at its peak reaches 153 Nm and this is already at 4400 rpm.
The HR16DE is mated to either a five-speed manual transmission RS5F91R or a four-speed torque converter automatic transmission RE4F03B. The automatic transmission is very sensitive to the quality of the oil used, which is recommended to be changed every 60,000 km. Well, the mechanics are quite noisy, which is due to the operation of the input shaft bearings. The problem is treated by switching to GL5 lubricant, and in the worst case, by prematurely replacing the release bearing. The fuel consumption of the HR16DE is quite acceptable: the average gasoline consumption with a manual is about 6.9 liters, and with an automatic - 7.4 liters.
A few words about the dynamics. The 1.6-liter engine easily accelerates a car with a manual transmission to a maximum of 186 mph, while the starting acceleration to the first hundred on the speedometer usually takes only 11.1 seconds. The automatic transmission slightly slows down the car's speed. Thus, the upper speed limit is reduced to 170 mph, and the starting acceleration time from 0 to 100 mph increases to 12.6 seconds.

  • The second engine on our market is the four-cylinder MR18DE unit, which has a slightly larger volume of 1.8 liters (1798 cm3).

The engine has the same design principle: in-line layout with a compression ratio of 9.9, two overhead camshafts, 16 valves. The maximum developed power of this power unit reaches 126 hp (93 kW) at 5200 rpm, and the peak torque is 173 Nm and is achieved at 4800 rpm.
The Japanese offer only one option as a gearbox for this engine: a six-speed manual RS6F94R, the operating problems of which are similar to the five-speed gearbox described just above. The fuel consumption of the MR18DE engine is slightly higher in comparison with its younger brother in the line - 7.8 liters.
The dynamics of the Nissan Tiida with a 1.8-liter engine under the hood are noticeably more vigorous. The upper speed limit is set at 195 mph, and the average starting acceleration time from 0 to 100 mph will be about 10.4 seconds.

Are you happy? Then it's time to throw a fly in the ointment. This year, most likely, the 126-horsepower engine will no longer be available to Russian buyers. In any case, on the official Nissan-Russia website, the Nissan Tiida 2012 hatchback and sedan are offered only in trim levels with a 1.6-liter engine, and there is not a word about its 1.8-liter older brother. This is most likely caused by the expected transition to the next generation. We also note that both engines prefer to use AI-95 gasoline.

Test drive Nissan Tiida 2012: Japanese designers equipped the car with a very energy-intensive suspension that copes well with Russian roads and allows you to periodically switch to an aggressive, sporty driving style. But meanwhile, the suspension, like on other Nissan models, is very demanding on maintenance and does not tolerate careless treatment. The front suspension of the Nissan Tiida is based on MacPherson struts, which is quite logical for the golf class, and the rear suspension is based on a torsion beam. All four wheels have disc brakes, while the front axle has ventilated discs. The rack and pinion steering mechanism is complemented by a modern electric power steering with sport settings. The vehicle's minimum turning circle is 10.4 meters.

On the road, the Japanese C-Class behaves very confidently, clearly holds its trajectory and does not break down on sharp turns, reliably biting its wheels into the road surface. Excellent handling and grip are achieved through proper weight distribution along the axles, informative steering, thoughtful aerodynamics and the presence of modern electronic assistants. Thus, already in the basic equipment the car is equipped with ABS, EBD and Brake Assist systems. In more expensive trim levels, support for the VDC dynamic stabilization system appears, making control even easier.

Basics about tuning Nissan Tiida sedan and hatchback are most often used by their owners. It is clear that, like any other car, the Nissan Tiida can be subjected to various modifications and improvements. Official dealers of the Japanese automaker offer accessories for various factory tuning options, among which the most popular are:

  • installation of rear spoiler,
  • window deflectors,
  • sill covers and installation of stylish foglights.

In addition, other solutions are available on the Russian market. In particular, it is possible to:

  • installation of chrome or contrasting black radiator protection,
  • quick-release tinted window blinds,
  • and, of course, chips that increase engine power as well as torque.

Let’s briefly go through the problems and strengths identified during operation and maintenance, which are most often mentioned by owners in reviews on forums. So the main pros and cons of the Nissan Tiida.

What body?

1st place: 5-door hatchback. Compact dimensions make parking easy, and the high roof and almost vertical landing guarantee good visibility. This car is also more comfortable inside. The back of the rear seats in the hatchback can be adjusted in angle, and the entire sofa can be moved back and forth by 24 cm, thereby varying the trunk volume from 300 to 463 liters. In addition, the 5-door has the shortest overhangs. Together with a decent (17 cm) ground clearance, this provides the best geometric cross-country ability.

2nd place: 4-door sedan. This Nissan is 176 mm longer and allows you to save 10,000 rubles. However, the tail rack does not look very elegant. The sedan also loses in practicality - the volume of the cargo compartment is impressive, but it cannot transport large luggage. Naturally, it is less convenient as the only car in the family.

Which configuration?

The basic “Comfort” fully lives up to its name: air conditioning, MP3 radio, power accessories, heated front seat cushions, central locking with remote control, a quartet of cup holders and an eyeglass holder. In terms of safety equipment, this Tiida can boast four air bags, active front head restraints and ABS. The optimal set of equipment, in our opinion. The only thing missing here is window cushions.

You can get them starting with the “Elegance” version (plus 40,000 rubles) and only in a set with climate control, rain and light sensors, light alloy wheels, fog lights and electric folding mirrors. Individually, almost all of them are interesting, but together, perhaps, they become overkill for a car in an affordable price range.

And to overpay 114,000 rubles. for the top version of Tekna - a real waste. Almost all the money spent on leather trim on the front surfaces of the seats, cruise control and xenon headlights will be lost upon sale.

What engine?

1st place: 1.6 l (110 hp). The “Four” that the Note quickly carries (the cars are built on the same platform) is also perfect for the Tiida. The engine pulls well from idle and does not falter at medium and high speeds. Even with an automatic transmission it allows you to accelerate to 150–160 km/h. True, after 4000 rpm it becomes a little noisy.

2nd place: 1.8 l (126 hp). In terms of steering and suspension settings, Tiida is far from an athlete. So an additional 200 cubic meters of displacement and 16 liters. With. she doesn't seem to need it. Moreover, the shock absorbers of such a car are stiffer, but due to the elastokinematics of the rear suspension, handling is still far from ideal. In general, for better torque at speeds well over 100 km/h you will have to pay as much as 26,000 rubles.

WE DECIDED:

The optimal “Tiida” is a 5-door “Comfort-1.6”. This is a fairly conservative car, created for a not too picky buyer. But it captivates with its high-quality performance, a record-breakingly spacious interior in the “golf” class, a comfortable suspension and an attractive price.

The first generation Nissan Tiida hatchback debuted in 2004 in Japan... and it only reached Europe and Russia in 2007.

In 2010, the car underwent a planned update, which slightly affected the exterior, interior and level of equipment.

In its homeland, the five-door was produced until 2012, but on the Russian market it lasted until the summer of 2014.

The exterior design of the Nissan Tiida hatchback clearly shows the traditions inherent in many Japanese cars. Characteristic elements of the front part are slanted head optics, a strict radiator grille and a fairly prominent bumper.

The silhouette of the Japanese “golf” hatchback is devoid of any hint of speed or dynamism, and the profile of the car is distinguished only by a large glass area and a high roof. The stern of the Tiida is topped with compact lights and a small tailgate.

The five-door Nissan Tiida does not stand out from the general stream as anything special, although its appearance can be called calm and harmonious, aimed at those people for whom “content is more important than wrapper.” In terms of its size, the hatchback is a typical representative of the C-class. With a length of 4295 mm, its width and height are 1695 mm and 1535 mm, respectively. The wheelbase of the “Japanese” is 2600 mm, and the ground clearance is 165 mm. Depending on the modification, the curb weight of the vehicle varies from 1193 to 1232 kg.

The interior of the Nissan Tiida has a simple and strict design, it is dominated by regular geometric shapes and lacks any design frills.

The almost rectangular center console is ergonomic. All controls are located in logical places, the number of buttons and keys is kept to a minimum. The devices are contained in three “wells”; they are not lacking in information content, and are easy to read.

The interior space of Tiida is decorated with fairly high-quality, but inexpensive finishing materials. The front panel is made primarily of hard plastic; budget versions use fabric upholstery, and expensive versions use artificial leather in beige or black. Everything is assembled at a high level - the panels fit tightly to each other, the stitching is even everywhere, there are no “crickets” when moving.

The trick of the Nissan Tiida is the organization of the interior - the car was designed to make it as spacious as possible. The wide front seats are friendly for people of all sizes, and there is plenty of space in all directions, but there is a distinct lack of lateral support. The rear sofa can easily accommodate three adults, while the seat has longitudinal adjustments of a decent 240 mm, thanks to which you can change the spaciousness of the cabin and trunk depending on your needs.

The luggage compartment volume of the Nissan Tiida hatchback varies from 272 to 463 liters. The rear seat backrest folds in a 60:40 ratio, which makes it possible to increase free space to 645 liters and transport luggage up to 2400 mm long. Although the shape of the compartment cannot be called comfortable - the wheel arches protrude too much inward, eating up a good share of its volume.

Specifications. On the Russian market, the five-door Nissan Tiida was offered with two naturally aspirated gasoline engines.
The first is a four-cylinder 1.6-liter HR16D unit with an in-line cylinder layout and a 16-valve intake/exhaust system. It produces 110 horsepower and 153 Nm of maximum torque, available at 4400 rpm. It comes in tandem with a 5-speed manual transmission or a four-stage torque converter automatic. The dynamic characteristics of the 110-horsepower Tiida are at a very decent level - the car accelerates to 100 km/h in 11.1 seconds (with automatic transmission - in 12.6 seconds), and the peak speed is set at 186 km/h (170 km/h). Fuel consumption is not high - with a manual transmission, a hatchback consumes an average of 6.9 liters of gasoline, and with an automatic transmission - 7.4 liters.
The second is the 1.8-liter “four” MR18DE, designed on the same principle as the less powerful engine. Its maximum output is set at 126 “horses” and 173 Nm of thrust (at 4800 rpm). An uncontested 6-speed manual transmission was available for it. The starting acceleration to the first hundred for this Tiida takes 10.4 seconds, and the capabilities are limited at around 195 km/h. At the same time, the MR18DE is no different in its gluttony – 7.8 liters of fuel per 100 km.

The “first” Nissan Tiida is based on the global “trolley” of the Renault-Nissan alliance, on which the Renault Modus and Nissan Note were also based. The suspension design cannot be called special: at the front it is independent with MacPherson struts, and at the rear it is semi-independent with a torsion beam.

Options and prices. In 2015, the Nissan Tiida is no longer sold in Russia, but on the secondary market a “fresh” hatchback in good condition can be found at a price from 520,000 to 690,000 rubles, depending on the level of equipment.

The car can be found in three trim levels: Comfort, Elegance and Tekna. The initial version of the Tiida is equipped with air conditioning, front and side airbags, all-round electric windows, ABS, a standard audio system, fabric interior and heated front seats.
