Front seats on Hyundai Grand Starex. Removing seats on a Grand Starex. detailed instructions for dismantling seats and converting from D to B

Many Grand Starex owners have, as standard, instead of a single passenger seat (front) a one and a half seat. This is a kind of seat that can move forward/backward and takes up the entire space from the right door to the driver's seat. In the middle of this one-and-a-half “sofa” there is a folding armrest that can be placed in a vertical position. If necessary, a third passenger can be seated in this seat.

Many people want to do something with this one and a half.

We came up with 2 options: 1) replacing the one-and-a-half seat with a full-fledged single seat; 2) modernization of the “one and a half”, which allows you to turn it into a useful glove compartment

We take a standard one and a half truck and completely disassemble it

we are finalizing the frame of this seat, removing everything unnecessary

creating the boundaries of the new glove compartment

This is how the design turns out

the modified “boob” fits into the frame like this

The design of the “boob” can be modified to suit any taste and color. In this case, the end was softened (special foam was used)

alter the standard cover

Removing seats on a Grand Starex

    Good afternoon
I recently became the owner of a Grand (2.5 2008) and when removing the 3rd row of seats (for re-registration to category B), a question arose:
-I unscrewed the seats from the slides (2 bolts each from the front and back of the seat) but couldn’t pull out the slides themselves!!! Can anyone enlighten me on how to remove the slides from the guides???? Otherwise they will interfere with the transformation of the interior!!!
    Thank you in advance!

    from memory like this:
unscrew the rails, a non-standard sprocket head is needed.
It is enough to unscrew the two outer nuts. Carefully remove the plastic plug on the rail, there is a metal one underneath, it seems to be secured with a 10mm bolt.

I have a 2008 Grand. I took it from Korea with category D. I decided to carry out the conversion myself, because... outside help asked for this service from 20,000 rubles. I decided to at least try to do this procedure more or less independently. To begin with, I came to the traffic police, where I registered the car with category D. Here I confess, they helped with the queue... I made insurance immediately on B. After that, I removed the last row of seats, removed the runners, and thin metal plates in 4 places on each The sides were pinched together by welding. (After the conversion, the plates were easily torn off and removed. The welding attachment points are not visible). Then, at the same traffic police, I filled out an application, as it seems to be called, with a request to re-equip my car, left copies of the PTS, STS, Passport, and driver’s license. The traffic police gave me several commercial organizations to choose from that have the right to issue opinions. Having chosen the one that was closest, I came to them, paid, it seems, 2500 rubles and received a conclusion within 1 hour. At the same time, no one has looked at the car yet. Then back to the traffic police, from where I received a referral to undergo a technical inspection for re-equipment. The inspection arrived, where within 10 minutes they checked all the necessary boxes. Then I returned again to the traffic police, from where I was sent everywhere, and gave them the documents I received. Considering the fact that I ended up in the traffic police at the height of the “perestroika” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the kind inspector sent me to receive a conclusion in another unit, under the Main Internal Affairs Directorate. I don’t remember the exact name, in the Varshavka area outside the Moscow Ring Road. I arrived there by car, left the documents in the required window, an hour later an uncle policeman came out, opened the trunk, looked at what was inside, said that he wanted “the same one,” and after 20 minutes I received that very long-awaited conclusion. After that, back to the district MREO, where MYSELF, 1 hour 20 minutes after submitting the documents, they gave me a new STS and made the necessary entries in the PTS. All. All that remains is to make a technical inspection ticket for the cat. B. Here my strength is exhausted.
The total cost with all taxes cost me about 5000-7000 rubles.
I struggled with this question for about a month due to lack of free time. If you work closely, you can finish it in a week. Most of the time will be spent on the traffic police sorting out the paperwork.

Now in detail about dismantling the seats:
For this operation you will need the following set of keys
    - the asterisk, it seems, is 8 - it is the most basic. Buy a quality key!
-head 17, preferably with a ratchet
    - key for 10
    - key for 12
    - a simple screwdriver, preferably wide
    Further in the photos:
    1. remove 4 plugs from each seat in order to unscrew the seat mounting bolts.

2.Using a 17 mm socket and a ratchet, unscrew 4 bolts from each seat.

    3. This is what it should look like. The last 2 rows of seats in the cabin have been removed.

    4. Unscrew and remove the plastic plugs for the runners on the trunk side using a screwdriver.

    5. All mounting bolts of the skids, except the front ones, have been unscrewed. The front ones are simply weakened.

    6. Raise the runner and slip some object under it so that the runner is suspended.

    7. Using keys 10 and 12, unscrew the metal plug and remove the bolt. The runners are free.

    8. We move the sled from front to back and remove it from the runners.

    9. install the runners in place and fasten them with star bolts.
    10. Repeat the operation with the second runners.

It took me about 1.5 hours to dismantle the last row of seats. At the same time, I didn’t know what needed to be turned and with what, and I also carried out a photo report in parallel.
P/N: If there is a need to seal the runners for conversion, then the runners will have to be removed completely. At the same time, freeing the rear part from the plastic casing. For conversion, I advise you to use welding, and not riveting, as some advise. For traffic police, a metal plate the size of the width of the runners and about 35-40 cm long is enough. It is better to grab the plate by welding along the edges, and put 3-4 more fake points for seriousness). Under the plastic casing, the welding is not visible and the plates look quite neat. Those who don’t need the last row can then ride with them, and if they do, they can easily be picked out with a screwdriver and a hammer, which is what I did)).
Thank you for your attention and I hope my work will help someone.

Thank you very much for the advice, everything worked out in practice.

Additional equipment Hyundai Grand Starex

Safety:

A rear view camera with a signal output to the head unit, integrated into the mirror or a separate folding monitor is undoubtedly a useful option - safety and accuracy when maneuvering and parking.

Parking systems (parking sensors). The general principle of operation of parking assistance systems: sensors emit ultrasonic pulses and receive a reflected signal from objects in the range of the sensors. By measuring the time between emission and reception, the distance to the object is calculated, the information is displayed on the display device, and appropriate signals are sent. The rear sensors are usually activated when reverse gear is engaged, the front sensors are activated forcefully, or automatically when driving at a given speed, for example, up to 20 km/h.

An additional headlight for illumination when reversing – here extra light is always useful.

Increasing comfort, car personalization:

Noise and vibration insulation of the body, plastic panels and instrument panel (dashboard). To significantly reduce vibration, noise and squeaks, a combination of several materials is used. A layer is glued to the internal metal surfaces of the body to absorb vibrations, and the second layer is a material for sound insulation. The effect increases when processing door trims, sidewalls and ceilings. The adjacent surfaces of the panels are glued with material to reduce squeaks. Noise insulation improves the sound quality of speaker systems.

Multimedia center (head unit, radio) with a large screen. The ability to play any discs and other formats, navigation with traffic jams, access to the Internet, many useful applications and programs are already installed on the device, you can also download applications from the Internet, connect steering wheel controls.

Speakers, component and coaxial, including the manufacture of podiums (bases) for them, amplifiers, subwoofers. The standard music system produces sound quality that can be improved – adding depth and purity of sound, making it more powerful and pleasant. There are ready-made, proven solutions for acoustic sets of various prices.

Ceiling monitor with image output from different sources - installation of hanging folding monitors with a diagonal of 10-17 inches, depending on the presence/absence of hatches. Watching TV, videos and photos is entertainment for passengers on the road, and visual examples for a business meeting.

DVB TV tuner - T2 - for watching digital terrestrial television in a vehicle. Familiar programs in the new broadcasting standard, television reception throughout Russia.

Curtains for the windows, curtain-partition between the driver's cabin and the passenger compartment - single-layer or double-layer light-proof - protection from sunlight and complete privacy.

The mechanism for adjusting the back of a three-seater sofa is either manual in steps or electric - full horizontal folding without changes - a very necessary convenience when traveling long distances or on vacation.

Increasing the longitudinal travel of the seats (driver's or any passenger's) - comfortable organization of the interior space, for example, together with turning the first row of seats against the direction of travel, you get a convenient mobile office for business meetings and negotiations.

Bar for drinks and glasses with internal lighting.

Folding table with mounting on the side or on the back of the seat.

Side panels, ceiling - made and covered with natural or artificial leather, suede (Alcantara) or fabric.

A multimedia podium is an element of the interior, the basis for installing a TV, speakers, player, inputs for connecting storage media. Sturdy frame and beautiful appearance - design as desired.

Leather steering wheel. The steering wheel is a visible element of the cabin; it is always in your hands. The steering wheel, covered in genuine leather, always looks good, and is also extremely pleasant to the touch and does not slip. Basically, the following types of leather are used: smooth or textured, with perforation or smooth, as well as their combinations, for example, the side parts of the steering wheel are made of perforated leather, and the top and bottom are made of smooth leather.

Additional 12V or 220V sockets - you can connect everything you need - your favorite household appliances are at hand, from a charger to a coffee maker and a game console.

Security anti-theft systems. Modern systems: alarms with auto start, feedback and other functions, immobilizers, “secrets” - components are selected individually, taking into account wishes. A turbo timer (delay in stopping the engine when arming) is also useful for cooling the turbine; many alarm systems now have this function.

Light-emitting diode (LED) interior lighting - LED strips of cold or warm tint, laid in a lightweight aluminum profile, will beautifully and softly illuminate the interior. Adjusting the brightness will make the atmosphere in the cabin more comfortable.

Decorative interior LED lighting with the ability to change settings. Remote control with many functions: color and intensity of lighting, random or preset color change, fast or smooth - everything according to your mood.

Xenon - lamp shape, light temperature, location of ignition units - during installation, new conditions associated with changes in traffic rules are taken into account.

Conversion of Hyundai Grand Starex for travel and long trips: microwave oven, kettle, coffee maker, sleeping place, dry closet - everything you need on the road can be placed in the cabin.

Conversion of Hyundai Grand Starex for a wheelchair - installation of ramps for lifting/lowering a wheelchair, handrails, locking the chair to the floor, adapting the seat for transfers.

Roof rails are a practical and stylish element for transporting goods. To accommodate luggage, transverse arches are installed between the roof rails, onto which the cargo itself or the aerodynamic trunk is attached.

A towbar is a ball-shaped coupling device for transporting trailers, designed specifically for a specific car model, designed for loads, and equipped with the necessary set of electrical components for correct connection.
