Ways to increase clearance


Most car enthusiasts try to adapt their car to the operating conditions where they constantly have to drive on good roads. To do this, using various methods, the clearance increases. 2. Next, spare parts are expensive! If you can find inexpensive analogues for consumables. Then, if you need to find any part (handle, button, body part, etc.), there are no analogues. For example, I bought cruise control buttons, 3 tyr. And these are simple damn BUTTONS!

3. The metal, like all modern cars, is thin, ala “foil”. When driving slowly through potholes: you feel like the body is walking, the door rubbers squeak due to the movement of the body, when it’s cold, a cracking sound is noticed in the area of ​​the windshield, perhaps this is due to frozen ice or due to the body. On the other hand, perhaps this was done on purpose so that during an impact, the deformation of the body absorbs the impact energy, i.e. for safety. Also, during normal driving, on normal roads in cold weather, you can hear the rear window cracking, this is caused by the fact that the snow melting on the glass flows down to the trunk lid, the gap between the glass and the trunk lid is approximately 3 mm, and the water freezes there, which leads to the sound (sedan only).

4. The car is comfortable, handles well, and handles the road well. But there is not enough space for rear passengers. The sedan has a large trunk, but a low crossbar between the luggage compartment and the passenger compartment, which in turn causes difficulties when transporting long cargo.

5. The fan speed and air temperature controls are not conveniently located; personally, I would swap them. The knob for adjusting the air direction is not convenient; it is difficult to turn with gloves, since there are not enough hooks.

6. The head light is not sufficient in urban conditions, however, on the highway I did not feel a lack of light. PTF does not fundamentally solve the problem.

7. Ford is a designer car. Allows you to add “goodies” from older trim levels, which in turn influenced the choice of trim level.

8. I really liked the acoustics, the standard radio is completely satisfactory. But there are small problems with unstable reception of radio stations, Fords have had this problem for a long time, replacing the antenna does not solve the problem, it may be necessary to lay a better/thicker wire from the antenna to the radio.

9. Open windows rattle, not critical if you have air conditioning. It’s better to have the windows closed to breathe less dust than to complain about the windows rattling.

10. Consumption is generally good, it all depends on how long you stand still and how long you drive. You stand for a long time, you drive a little, the consumption is high. You cost little, you travel for a long time, consumption is low. On the spot it consumes 0.6-0.7 l/hour, on the highway at 120 km/h it consumes approximately 5.6 l/100km.

11. The seats are comfortable, there was no discomfort during long driving.

12. According to the Ford database, the car was produced on February 2, 2016 and a week later I already had it. Operated exclusively in urban conditions when driving short distances. In December of the same year, the battery charge according to the BC is 11.8 V, which indicates that the battery is almost discharged.

13. Despite the fact that the battery voltage at -21C was 11.8 V, the car starts easily.

14. At low temperatures, the car warms up to the first division in about 3-4 minutes, as I already wrote, the first square is temp. engine corresponds to +35C.

15. According to BC, when idle at a traffic light, the engine cools down by 2-3 degrees in the cold. In cold weather, I measured to what temperature the engine would cool down at idle. did not conduct. This is a feature of an internal combustion engine with an aluminum cylinder block.

16. In humid weather and cold weather, when you start driving, the brake pads squeak when braking.

17. At sub-zero temperatures, after driving over uneven surfaces (speed bumps, holes, etc.), you can hear the sound of rubber/plastic rubbing from the front suspension. I blame poor tightening of the fender liner screws after installing the PTF.

18. Considering the small capacity of the washer reservoir, it lasts for a long time. On cars manufactured since the fall of 2016, the washer reservoir should already be 5 liters.

There are compact cars that are boring. They have everything to a minimum - both style and temperament. This does not apply to the new Fiesta. The exterior and interior of the car are modern, and its character is “fiery”. Some people think that the new product doesn’t look so great in a sedan body, but there are also plenty of people who are loyal to the exterior design. The taste and color, as they say... But you can’t get rid of the feeling that the Fiesta is a younger relative of the Mondeo.

In terms of internal volume, Fiesta corresponds to the average parameters of the class. Priority for space is given to front passengers and... things carried in the trunk. It sits well in front - both comfortable and spacious. Unless, of course, you focus on the narrow interior characteristic of compacts. But there is not enough legroom in the back. The tall passengers, who were somehow riding “in the gallery,” had to position their legs diagonally. It's good that there were two people. The third one in this situation is definitely superfluous. But the trunk, although it is far from the most voluminous in the class, is quite roomy and suitable for most pressing matters. The hanging handle seemed very convenient, with the help of which the trunk lid can be easily slammed shut. The layout of the controls of the new Fiesta is meaningful. And in this case, the method of intuitive acquaintance with them is acceptable. The instrument panel is pleasing with its clarity. Or rather, empty (in a good way) instrument scales. The readings from the on-board computer are somewhat boring.

The implementation of washing the windshield using the end button in the right steering column switch seems unusual. The round climate control unit is a little annoying. The orange lights on the buttons are located chaotically, and in the dark it is not easy to understand which button is activated. Another little thing - the mirrors on the sun visors are not illuminated. The ladies are seething with indignation. Otherwise, if you don’t pay attention to the low armrest, everything is decent in terms of ergonomics. Of course, I would like more, for example, navigation or an “auto light” mode, but alas.

The paucity of legroom makes it difficult for tall passengers to sit in the rear.

But the Fiesta drives great. Fun and easy. A 105-horsepower engine is almost always enough. Perhaps, only with the exception of high-speed overtaking. And what’s especially nice is that, compared to many “mechanical” competitors, the Fiesta is very well balanced in the clutch-box tandem. The start is completely easy. No gas boost. The gear ratios in the gearbox are chosen correctly. And the length of the gears is close to ideal. Ford-style shifts are crisp. The only thing surprising is the occasional difficulty engaging first gear. Approximately every 25–30th time. But the “transparent” brakes are very pleasing. And even more - handling, small turning radius, clear parking sensors. And an absolutely “omnivorous” suspension, having understood the essence of which, you completely cease to be afraid of potholes and speed bumps. Gasoline consumption of 8 liters seemed adequate during dynamic city driving. At gas stations, I am amazed by the advanced method of locking the tank neck without a lid.

The creators of the car deserve special thanks for the “attributes” of winter operation. Firstly, for the heated windshield. Anyone who has to tear off the wipers and scrape the glass for ten minutes in the usual way simply feels sorry. Secondly, for the hot stove and lightning-fast heating of the front seats. And thirdly, for decent ground clearance, which allows you to feel confident in relatively deep snow. During its entire operation, the car did not present any radical surprises. It seems her motto is “Sit down and go.” As often happens, the cost of the Ford Fiesta sedan is somewhat confusing.
