The main disadvantages and weaknesses of the Volkswagen Tiguan with mileage. Used Volkswagen Tiguan - The fate of technocrats

Volkswagen Tiguan is a bright representative of the class of compact crossovers with off-road ambitions. The car is built on the Volkswagen Golf platform. Tiguan got its name by combining the German words Tiger - tiger and Leguan - iguana lizard. Production of the Tiguan began in 2007 at the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg. Later, the assembly of Russian crossovers was established in Kaluga. In 2011, the Tiguan underwent a restyling, during which the exterior was retouched and the engine range was expanded.

Engines

The pre-styling VW Tiguan was equipped with 1.4 TSI (150 hp) and 2.0 TSI (170 hp) supercharged and turbocharged gasoline engines. A 2.0 TDI turbodiesel (140 hp) was also available. After restyling, the following appeared in the line of gasoline units: 1.4 TSI without a mechanical supercharger (122 hp) and 2.0 TSI boosted to 200 hp. All engines have a timing chain drive, with the exception of diesel engines - they use a toothed belt. The engines are mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

1.4 TSI engines (150 hp) sometimes caused serious problems for their owners. The reason is the large loads on the piston group at low speeds. As a result, there were cases of disintegration of piston rings, burnout of the piston baffles and destruction of the pistons themselves (with a run of more than 60 - 100 thousand km). After the use of stronger materials in 2013 and a change in the engine management program, there are no problems so far. Engine repair in case of such troubles will require about 100 - 150 thousand rubles.

Unstable operation of the motor with a run of more than 20 - 30 thousand km can be caused by an extended chain. But sometimes the signs of a problem are not so obvious, and on a segment of 100-200 thousand kilometers, individual owners are faced with a chain jump. Replacing the timing drive at the officials will cost 40 - 50 thousand rubles, in third-party services - about 15 - 20 thousand rubles (along with work). Sometimes the oil pump drive sprocket also wears out.

Problems with turbochargers can arise due to loosening of the pump wheel fastening nut, oiling of the turbine cavity or destruction of the blower shaft (from 40,000 rubles per turbine). Cases are rare, but you should not forget about a possible problem.

1.4 TSI engines (122 hp) without a mechanical supercharger with only one turbocharger are less “bloated”, and therefore less loaded, so there are practically no problems with them.

The 2.0 TSI is characterized by "fogging" of the detachable connection of the air intake pipe going to the turbine (with a run of more than 30 - 60 thousand km). This phenomenon is not a malfunction. The reason for the appearance of oil is oil mist that enters the intake tract through the crankcase ventilation system. This effect is enhanced by prolonged engine idling.

There are also malfunctions of the high-pressure fuel pump (10-15 thousand rubles). Sometimes there are problems with the wedged intake manifold flaps, or the engine mount starts to knock.

On machines with 2.0 TSI, assembled before 2015, after 60-100 thousand km, there were problems with the timing chain drive. In addition, cases of jamming of the balance shafts are known. The meshes in the oil channels (inside the shafts) are clogged, and no lubricant is supplied to the shafts. With a sad outcome, repairs will require from 50 to 100 thousand rubles. After 100-150 thousand km, the oil separator may fail (about 6,000 rubles), which leads to oil leakage through the seals and from under the timing cover.

Diesel 2.0 TDI with common rail injection system is demanding on fuel quality. But when using high-quality fuel, more than 200-300 thousand km will easily pass. The timing of the 2-liter turbodiesel is driven by a toothed belt, which is recommended to be changed every 90,000 km. Problems with starting a warm engine may occur after 100,000 km due to the failure of the pressure reducing or delivery valves. There is also a problem with the throttle valve due to the wear of its plastic drive (eats the gear). A new throttle assembly will cost 8 - 9 thousand rubles for the original and 3 - 4 thousand rubles for an analogue. Replacement work costs about 2 - 3 thousand rubles. The TDI motor fell under a recall campaign to refine the fuel supply pipe to the engine.

A number of problems common to all types of engines have also been noticed. For example, a liquid cooling pump may sound (squeak or whistle) already in the first ten thousand kilometers. A new pump costs about 13-15 thousand rubles. Often, with a run of more than 20 - 40 thousand km in cold weather, there is a problem with the "disappearance" of antifreeze. The reason is the leaking tee of the lower pipe at the outlet of the radiator, less often in the leakage of the radiator at the junction of plastic with metal.

With a mileage of more than 100,000 km, problems may arise with the stable operation of the engine due to oxidation of the contacts at the point of insulation failure of the Gateway device that separates the CAN buses.

There are also problems with the starter due to the retractor, more often in winter. The failure of the injection pump pump can provoke a “tired” pump in the fuel tank. Sometimes on new cars the fuel level sensor “sticks”, later the readings are restored, and the problem does not recur.

Transmission

Problems with the 6-speed "mechanics" 0A6 have not yet been identified. With the "automatic" Aisin, things are somewhat different. Often complaints appear already with a run of more than 20 - 40 thousand km. Owners note jerks or jerks when shifting gears. As a rule, everything costs a little blood - flashing the box ECU. If shocks continue to occur during acceleration, then it may be necessary to replace the automatic transmission valve block (40 - 50 thousand rubles). However, the owners are in no hurry to visit the service, and the box continues to work, occasionally kicking when switching between 2nd and 3rd gear. The appearance of vibrations in 6th gear will prompt the need to replace the torque converter. It should be noted that real cases of overhaul of the machine are found only after 250-300 thousand km.

Contrary to the worst expectations, the 7-speed DSG robot does not bother with the notorious problems.

The cause of deaf blows when driving through bumps is often the gearbox cushion - the rubber band knocks on the metal. The sound is similar to the knock of the stabilizer bushings. Finding its source is not easy. Upon external examination of the support, it does not cause suspicion.

The Haldex IV generation coupling is responsible for connecting the rear wheels. The first problems may arise with a run of more than 50 - 100 thousand km due to a creaking outboard bearing of the propeller shaft or failure of the electric booster pump. The outboard bearing (8 - 10 thousand rubles) is recommended to be changed only assembled with a cardan shaft (45 - 55 thousand rubles). A repair kit for the clutch pump will cost 10,000 rubles. The 5th generation coupling does not allow reconditioning. You have to change the clutch motor (13,000 rubles). To extend the life of the clutch, it is recommended to update the working fluid every 30-40 thousand km.

Chassis

Support bearings are the first to be delivered in the suspension (600 - 800 rubles apiece), which begin to creak when the wheels are turned or rattle on bumps (with a run of more than 30 - 60 thousand km). After 40 - 70 thousand km, the silent blocks of the front levers can creak, more often with the onset of cold weather. Dealers replace them under warranty. Suspension arms are rented to 100 - 150 thousand km.

Shock absorbers run more than 100 - 120 thousand km. Wheel bearings will last at least 60 - 80 thousand km. The front ones will cost 6 - 7 thousand rubles, and the rear ones will cost 9 - 10 thousand rubles. Replacement work costs about 1 thousand rubles.

The bushings of the front anti-roll bar wear out with a run of more than 100 - 140 thousand km. They change only when assembled with a stabilizer - 5-6 thousand rubles.

The front brake pads run about 30 - 70 thousand km, the rear 40 - 90 thousand km.

On cars manufactured before 2012, the steering wheel is heavy and the red EUR malfunction indicator lights up after starting the engine and trying to move off. More often the disease occurs in winter. In such a situation, you must turn off the ignition and start the engine again. The malfunction is treated by flashing the electric power steering unit. If the failure occurs while driving, then the new software will not help in this case - the EUR will have to be replaced.

Other problems and malfunctions

Body paint is not very strong. Fortunately, iron is not in a hurry to “bloom” at the place of chips. Sometimes there are swelling of paint on the rear tailgate. On cars of the Kaluga assembly, the doors are often poorly “adjusted”, because of which they do not close well, and it bleeds through from under the seals. An attempt to open the hood in severe frosts can lead to breakage of the plastic bracket - at the stop of the hood lock control cable. The problem of fogging headlights is rare.

Windshields do not resist mechanical stress well. And the slightest chip immediately spreads across the glass with a web of cracks.

Extraneous sounds in the cabin can cause the tailgate lock, rear shelf or raised floor. On many Tiguans, door seals crunch or creak when rolling over bumps.

The whistle of the heater motor is a common phenomenon that intensifies in cold weather or during acceleration. The reason is dust getting on the fan bushings. Official services replace the "whistle" under warranty. If it is over, it is necessary to remove the fan, clean and lubricate its bushings.

Due to the failure of the contact group of the ignition switch, the radio tape recorder may spontaneously turn on or off, and the light does not light up when the ignition is turned off. A problem with the light can cause the fuse in the block to blow. Window washers and wipers do not respond when the on-board network control unit fails (14 thousand rubles). If the parking brake does not release, or if the open door alarm is constantly displayed, it is necessary to reset the battery terminal for a few seconds.

Conclusion

Miracle beast - Volkswagen Tiguan was not without flaws. Fortunately, all the sores are well known from other cars of the VAG group. It is worth noting that the manufacturer is constantly working to eliminate miscalculations.

In the Russian automotive market, the line of power units for the Volkswagen Tiguan is presented in five versions. Four of them are gasoline engines, one is diesel. With such a wide choice, it is not surprising that many motorists are interested in which engine is better before buying a mini-crossover.

But, before starting the comparison, it is worth noting: absolutely all Volkswagen Tiguan engines have excellent quality characteristics, but at the same time they are characterized by greater sensitivity to fuel quality. This factor is of particular importance in Russia, where not all gas stations can buy really high-quality fuel.

Important! Even a single refueling with bad gasoline can lead to serious damage to engine systems, in particular this applies to 1.4-liter Volkswagen Tiguan engines.

Petrol engines

The Russian buyer can choose one of four options for gasoline engines. They have a different volume and differ in power characteristics. But the general characteristics are also characteristic of engines:

  • the presence of turbocharging;
  • fuel grade - AI-95;
  • environmental class - Euro-5;
  • the number of cylinders in engines - 4;
  • the number of valves in each cylinder - 4;
  • in-line arrangement of cylinders;
  • unit power system - direct injection into the combustion chamber.

Petrol engine 1.4 l

These compact and fairly economical motors are presented in two power versions: 122 and 155 hp. with. Versions CAXA and CZDB for the 122-horsepower engine, and CZDA for a more powerful version are equipped with a single turbocharger. But there are other engine options, these are CAVA and CAVD, which have a more interesting fuel supply system. Here you can see the turbine and the drive compressor interacting quite favorably with each other.

For engines of 1.4 liters. some non-deliveries are also characteristic, these are - a weak piston group and a lubrication system that works literally at the limit of its capabilities. The intercooler gets dirty pretty quickly due to a rather weak pump, the turbine also cannot boast of sufficient power.

It is for these reasons that Volkswagen Tiguan cars with 1.4 liter engine lines. quite often can be found in the secondary market at an unnaturally low price. But, as already mentioned, in many respects the normal functioning of engine systems depends on the quality of the fuel, oil and coolant used.

A less powerful version of the engine works exclusively with a six-speed gearbox, the maximum engine power is achieved at 5 thousand revolutions per minute. Up to hundreds of kilometers. the car accelerates in just 10.9 s, which is a fairly good indicator for a car with such impressive dimensions.

Important! With 122 hp engines. with., as practice shows, there are fewer problems: they are less prone to destruction or breakdown of the piston group. While more powerful units, starting from 150 horses, have a complex structure and overheat in the warm season, even at average temperatures. The compressor drive clutch together with the pump are consumables that need systematic and extraordinary replacement.

In many ways, the condition of the engine depends on the timely replacement of oils and their high quality. When operating a Volkswagen Tiguan, especially with large engine volumes, drivers must certainly take this factor into account, thereby limiting themselves from costly repairs.

Petrol engine 2.0 l

Two-liter gasoline engines for the Volkswagen Tiguan are presented in two versions:

  • 170 l. with.;
  • 200 l. with.

Naturally, the latter option has the highest level of fuel consumption. This series of engines has a more reliable timing compared to the 1.4 version. Also, Volkswagen Tiguan engines with a volume of 2 liters have excellent traction throughout the entire rev range and ample opportunities for tuning, which can put them an order of magnitude higher in all respects. But there are also typical drawbacks, for example, unsuccessful oil scraper and compression rings. These shortcomings result in:

  • coking of the piston group;
  • increased load on the crankcase ventilation system;
  • permanent throttle contamination.

Diesel unit

For the Russian buyer, only one version of the diesel engine with a volume of 2 liters is available. It is worth noting that they are distinguished by a high level of reliability, if you do not take into account the characteristic shortcomings for absolutely all diesel engines. This is a vulnerable power system, constant contamination of the particulate filter and freezing of fuel at low temperatures.

But on Volkswagen Tiguan engines, nozzles with a piezo function are installed, which have a limited reserve. That's why refueling with low-quality fuel can lead to a complete replacement of injectors ok, which will result in no less than 160 thousand rubles. You should not save on the quality of diesel fuel, and a 2.0-liter diesel engine will serve the owner of the Volkswagen Tiguan for many years.

This engine has low fuel consumption, therefore it is a fairly economical option. Maximum engine power is reached at 4200 rpm. Torque - 320 Nm. The turbocharged engine is equipped with an air intercooler system. Acceleration to hundreds of kilometers is carried out in 10.7 s. The maximum speed is 182 km/h. The diesel unit works in conjunction with an automatic six-speed gearbox.

Why choose Volkswagen Tiguan

Statistics show that the European compact SUV is the best in its class today. This is evidenced by the reviews of real owners, critics and sales figures. Tiguan left behind such serious competitors as Toyota Rav-4 and Nissan Qashqai.

Among the main advantages of the Volkswagen Tiguan are:

  • excellent handling;
  • convincing dynamics;
  • economical fuel consumption, especially with 1.4 liter units and a diesel engine;
  • quality assembly;
  • a wide range of motors;
  • reliable paintwork and the presence of plastic thresholds that protect the outer layer of the body from scratches and significant damage;
  • the quality of the chassis and the brake system is at the highest level. Even if wheel bearings and silent blocks are replaced, the cost of repair will not be prohibitive, since these parts are inexpensive. The resource of these consumables is 100-150 thousand kilometers;
  • excellent external characteristics and comfortable interior.

Naturally, the buyer can choose for himself what engine size of the Volkswagen Tiguan to choose. This should be guided by such preferences as the desired dynamics of the car and its economy.

Important! For constant pastime in traffic jams, you should not choose a 1.4-liter engine due to lower dynamic performance. Therefore, for many, the most successful alternative is a diesel unit, for which the problem of fuel freezing is not as relevant as for most other cars due to the presence of autonomous heating.

Transmission

When choosing the engine size of the Volkswagen Tiguan, you should also pay attention to the transmission. All variants of the car supplied to the Russian market have a six-speed gearbox. All versions of engines, except for the 1.4-liter, are paired with automatic transmissions.

Hydromechanical automatic transmissions are reliable, but the disadvantages of the development include the conditions of extreme overheating in which the gearbox units have to work. But this problem concerns not only Volkswagen, but also other cars equipped with hydromechanics.

The well-known German quality is sometimes also upsetting. And, according to the reviews of many or even the majority, the purchase of a Volkswagen Tiguan, not only with mileage, but even from the factory, became such a disappointment. People were waiting for something eternal from the German manufacturer, but it turned out the opposite. Therefore, in this article, all significant weaknesses and shortcomings of the German Volkswagen Tiguan, which every future buyer of this car should be aware of, will be announced.

Weaknesses of the 1st generation Volkswagen Tiguan

  • Engine;
  • Valve train chain;
  • "Robot";

Now more….

One of the most serious vulnerabilities of the Tiguan is, oddly enough, the engine, namely the 1.4 liter volume. If, for example, there are fewer complaints about other engines (in particular, gasoline 2.0 and diesel), then there are serious complaints about 1.4 TSI. The fact is that the 1.4 liter engine has serious design flaws in terms of calculating the reliability of the pistons. Therefore, primarily due to the high thermal load, the piston group quickly collapses. There were cases that these problems arose even when the car was under warranty and this malfunction was eliminated, but the majority of Tiguan car owners encountered piston destruction after the warranty period expired. As a result, the owners had to spend a lot of money on repairs. Therefore, before buying this car, you should know about it and draw the right conclusions. Separately, we can say about diesel engines. The weakest side of these engines is the so-called particulate filter. The point is that it quickly clogs with frequent city driving and does not have time to regenerate (self-clean).

It is equally important to know about one more serious weakness of the Tiguan, which can bring serious financial losses to the owners of these cars. This is a quick failure of the timing chain. And this applies to both 1.4 liters. engine, and two-liter. In general, if you remember, there was a whole epic about timing chains. The manufacturer at first refused to admit that the chains were defective, but in the end, due to mass discontent, he had to do this and carry out an analysis and a set of measures to prevent such defects. This was explained by the fact that the supplied chains were produced on equipment with heavy wear. From which the resulting defective edges of the chains, with the engine running, caused rapid wear of the chain as a whole. Later, this problem was solved, but there are still cars on which the mileage is low, and the chain is still factory. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to this nuance before buying, since bent engine valves due to chain stretching and failure are not a pleasant pleasure.

Among all the troubles of Tiguan`a, one more thing can be distinguished - this is a robotic DSG box. Its resource, with proper operation and maintenance, does not exceed, as a rule, an average of 100 thousand km. and in general the DSG robot is not famous for its durability on other makes and models of cars. Therefore, it is worth knowing about this, especially for the future buyer of the Volkswagen Tiguan. Therefore, the ideal option would be - this is the choice of a Tiguan without a DSG box. Any other, but not DSG.

Electric power steering.

Electric power steering is one of the diseases of the Volkswagen Tiguan. The EUR on these vehicles brought a lot of problems to their owners. On many cars, there have been cases of failure of the electric power steering, both on the spot and on the move. This was mostly due to a software glitch. In the event of a failure of the EUR in motion, flashing the unit did not help, and the EUR had to be completely changed. Basically, this malfunction made itself felt during the warranty period of the car, but the future owner simply needs to know about the said weak point.

Suspension bearing of the cardan shaft.

The propeller shaft outboard bearing also worried Tiguan owners. This is not to say that this is a massive problem, but when buying a car, you should pay attention to it, since its cost and replacement can significantly hit the pocket of the future owner. It is also possible to indirectly determine bearing wear when driving along a characteristic hum, but it is better to check its condition at a service station.

The main disadvantages of the Volkswagen Tiguan 2007-2016 release

  1. Weak operation of the stove in winter;
  2. Small trunk volume for a crossover;
  3. There is no possibility of full lifting of the wipers;
  4. Long warm-up of the 1.4 liter engine. in winter;
  5. Weak paintwork;
  6. Small side mirrors;
  7. The impossibility of replacing the “dokatka” with a full-size wheel;
  8. Ergonomic miscalculations.

Conclusion.

Based on the foregoing, we can conclude that for such a cost of this model it was possible to install parts, components and assemblies there more reliably than they were actually installed. It should be understood before buying that the failure of any element of the machine, the purchase and replacement will cost the owner a very round sum.

P.S. Dear owners of these cars! We kindly ask you to indicate the noticed shortcomings of the Tiguan that you identified during operation.

The eternal dispute - diesel or gasoline. What is more profitable in operation? What is more convenient to ride? Which car is cheaper to service? The answer will be given by two Tiguans - a petrol 1.4 TSI and a diesel 2.0 TDI of the same power of 150 hp. Both with all-wheel drive and DSG robotic gearboxes.

Expectations and reality

Often, the traction power characteristics declared by the manufacturer do not correspond to the real ones. Why? Typically, the manufacturer takes data from the engine flywheel, not taking into account the losses in the transmission of torque to the wheels. We are not interested in theoretical, but in the most mundane data, - so we go to the dyno.

Our many years of experience show that diesel cars demonstrate higher performance on the stands compared to "paper" ones, while gasoline cars show the opposite. It happened this time as well. Tiguan 1.4 TSI produced 147.3 hp and 236.1 N m (according to the passport - 150 hp and 250 N m), and the diesel 2.0 TDI - 153.5 hp. and 333 Nm (factory data - 150 hp and 320 Nm). Discrepancies with the declared parameters are within the limits of measurement error and decency.

The results of measurements of accelerating dynamics by a professional measuring complex no longer surprised us: the diesel Tiguan turned out to be faster, albeit by a fraction of a second. The advantage is provided not only by the “unaccounted for” horsepower and Newton meters, but also by the transmission. The latest seven-speed DSG robot with two clutches (DQ500) works on a diesel Tiguan, and an earlier six-speed one (DQ250) on a gasoline one. It's not about the "rate of fire" of the boxes, but about cutting gears, which allows the seven-speed robot to keep the diesel speed in a more efficient range.

But here's what's interesting: the gasoline Tiguan in the city is perceived as more driver-friendly. Partly because you don’t expect much agility from a small-capacity turbo engine. Yes, and a light gas pedal gives the effect: a little pressed - rushed. But outside the metropolis, the gasoline fairy tale comes to an end. On fast winding paths, the TDI rides tastier, although it is 120 kg heavier - you even have to release the pedal before cornering, while on a gasoline Tiguan that fades with increasing speed, you drive all the time with the pedal in the floor. Even if you are alien to racing ambitions, you will feel the difference. You feel more confident with a diesel engine and outside the asphalt - it pulls more readily from the very bottom and is less prone to turbo hitches.

Bon appetit!

Diesels are a priori more economical than gasoline engines, the question is how much in our particular case? We drove the Tiguans along calibrated routes of several hundred kilometers each. Imitated urban, suburban and mixed cycles. We did not set the task of achieving a minimum consumption, but tried to calculate the real appetite in absolutely equal conditions. We tried to foresee everything, including the human factor: drivers changed cars in the middle of each segment. Consumption was estimated not according to trip computers, which are often cunning, but by topping up: stocked up with canisters, measuring cups and patience.

Diesel Tiguan predictably won, spending 1.4-2.2 liters less - depending on the driving mode. With the difference in the price of diesel fuel and 95-octane gasoline (respectively 44.1 and 45.7 rubles in Moscow in June), the savings are tangible.

However, not a single combustible. You also need to maintain the equipment. If earlier most diesel cars had a shorter service interval than gasoline cars, now they have caught up. So, both Tiguans are prescribed to undergo maintenance every 15,000 km. At an authorized dealer, planned work for a diesel car up to a mileage of 100,000 km will cost only 8,546 rubles more than for a gasoline one. However, it is enough to fill somewhere with low-quality diesel fuel once - and cleaning the fuel equipment will negate all the fuel savings that we counted above. This is a lottery.

In terms of OSAGO policies and taxes - parity.

Dry residue

So, taking into account the cost of maintenance and fuel on a mileage of 100,000 km, a diesel Tiguan will save 89,164 rubles. Not bad! But all the advantages are crossed out by the price: a diesel car is more expensive by the same hundred thousand rubles. So, if you are planning to buy a Tiguan 2.0 TDI in order to recoup all fuel costs, think thrice: to get to zero, you will have to wind 110,000–130,000 km in ideal conditions - without unscheduled repairs. In some regions, the difference in the price of diesel fuel and 95-octane gasoline reaches two or three rubles - and then diesel can be repaid for 50,000–80,000 km.

A fat point in the economic calculations was put by the CAR-INDEX - a unique indicator of the cost of maintenance from "Behind the wheel". It takes into account operating costs up to a mileage of 70,000 km (for the first three years of operation) - registration and technical inspection fees, transport tax, costs for OSAGO, fuel and scheduled maintenance, and, most importantly, losses in the resale of the car. With a score of 15.38 rubles / km, the gasoline Tiguan won, ahead of the diesel one by 59 kopecks from each kilometer.

However, many buyers choose a diesel modification not because of efficiency. A machine with high low-end torque is more confident off-road and easier to tow a heavy trailer. Pleasant autonomy: Tiguan 2.0 TDI runs on one tank up to 1000 km, and petrol - about 800 km. Finally, the liquidity of a diesel Tiguan in decent condition in the secondary market is higher.

Summary: if you operate the car mainly in the city and change it after three or four years, it makes no sense to overpay for diesel. Do you like long-distance road trips, dragging a trailer, prefer a reserve of traction under the pedal and are not afraid of our frosts? Then diesel is your option.

Diesel legends and myths

  • They work noisily. Louder than gasoline - a fact. But the difference is not so great: there is no hard tractor rattling in the Tiguan's cabin. I drove a couple of friends, acquaintances, and no one noticed that we were driving a diesel car. Only after leading questions did the passengers understand what the catch was. The same applies to vibrations: there are only a little more of them on the steering wheel and seats of the diesel Tiguan, and you only feel the difference at idle.
  • It is easy to run into low-quality diesel fuel. In large cities and at branded gas stations, the risk is minimal. Somewhere in the outback, with no less probability, you can fill in burnt gasoline - it will also hurt a modern highly accelerated turbo engine. But running into summer diesel fuel in the offseason is easy. The problem is solvable. First, many diesel vehicles, including the Tiguan 2.0 TDI, are equipped with heated fuel filters. Secondly, there are anti-gel additives; a bottle for 300 rubles is enough for 200-600 liters of diesel fuel.
  • Diesel cars are cold in winter. This statement is relevant only for fairly old cars. The vast majority of modern vehicles are regularly equipped with additional autonomous and pre-heaters or heaters. Tiguan is no exception, so we had no problems with warming up and maintaining the required temperature during the test, which fell on the last frosty days.

So, the EA113 four-row injection engine is represented by volumes: 1.4 TSI 122 and 150 hp; 2.0 TSI 180 and 211 hp Two-liter models are presented in all-wheel drive, 1.4 - front. All of them have a turbine.

The manufacturer recommends 95/98 fuel, engines comply with the Euro 5 standard, consumption in the city promises to be 12.6, on the highway 8.8 liters per hundred square meters. In practice, without capital, the engine departs in the region of 300 thousand. This engine model is installed on some models of Audi, Seat, Skoda, as well as Volkswagen Jetta, Polo, Golf, Passat and Tiguan. Tiguan and Audi Q3 are presented on the same platform, and due to the fact that Q3 refers to premium cars, they are not considered competitors.

The Golf II station wagon can be safely called the Tigun's predecessor, but since sales did not meet the manufacturer's expectations, production was curtailed. Volkswagen studio chief designer Klaus Bischof has always imagined the image of the Touareg SUV, which is why both cars are very similar, despite the difference in size.

Faults and repairs.

In the event of a timing belt break (but this is not earlier than 90 thousand km), which the Tiguan is equipped with, be prepared for the valves to bend.

Increased oil consumption (typical for cars with mileage over 150 thousand). In this case, it is necessary to replace the valves or oil scraper rings.
