This note describes where the fuses are located in the Ford Focus 2 car, the diagram and fuse numbers. What fuses are used?
In the Ford Focus 2 (Dorestyle) car, medium-sized flat plug fuses are installed; such fuses are also called blade fuses.
Fig.1 Medium-sized automotive fuses
At the end of the fuse you can see a number corresponding to the maximum current that can flow through the fuse (fuse rating).
Also, the fuse rating can be determined by the color of the insulator:
1A – black
2A - gray
3A – purple
4A - pink
5A - orange-yellow
7.5A - brown
10A - red
15A - blue
20A - yellow
25A - white
30A - green
35A - light purple
40A - orange
60A - blue
70A - brown
80A - light yellow
100A - lilac Exceeding the current rating of the fuse causes combustion (melting) of the metal plate located inside the fuse. A blown fuse opens the electrical circuit in which it is installed. This protects electrical appliances from failure and the car from fire.
Fig.2 Working fuse and burnt one
In a Ford Focus 2 (pre-restyle) car, the fuses are located in two blocks, one of which is located under the hood of the car, and the other under the dashboard on the passenger side (under the glove compartment, popularly called the “glove compartment”).
The fuse box located in the engine compartment is located on the left side, not far from the battery. It is convenient to open the fuse box cover using a small flat-head screwdriver, which must be inserted into the cover lock and slightly tilted towards the car radiator. Then remove the cover.
Fig.3 Screwdriver inserted into lid lock Tweezers are stored on the inside of the cover, which are used to remove and replace fuses.
There are no such tweezers in the fuse box under the glove compartment! Fig. 5 Fuse diagram in the engine compartment of Ford Focus 2
Fig.6 Fuse numbers in the engine compartment Ford Focus 2
Inside the car, the fuse box is suspended under the glove compartment and secured with two locks similar to self-tapping screws. The locks need to be turned counterclockwise, after which the front part of the block tilts down. The block can be lifted slightly and pulled back, then it will recline wider and access to the fuses will be more convenient.
Fig. 7 Location of fuses in the interior of Ford Focus 2 The fuse numbers are marked on the block. They are hard to see in the photograph. In the diagram they are located like this:

10.2. Ford Focus II. Fuse table. Replacing fuses and relays
FUSE TABLE
Most electrical circuits are protected by fuses. Powerful consumers (rear window heating element, cooling system fan, air conditioning compressor clutch and others) are connected via a relay.
Fuse protecting the starter and generator power circuits
The fuses and relays are installed in two mounting blocks, one of which is located on the left, in the engine compartment, and the second is located under the glove box of the instrument panel. A fuse (150 A) is installed on the wire terminal connected to the “positive” terminal of the battery, protecting the power circuits of the starter and generator.

REPLACING FUSES AND RELAYS
We carry out work when fuses and relays fail.
When removing fuses and relays, be sure to disconnect the wire terminal from the negative terminal of the battery.
To access fuses and relays located in the engine compartment mounting block...
...pressing the plastic latch...
...remove the cover of the mounting block.
On the back of the cover there are tweezers for removing fuses and a diagram of the location of fuses and relays and their purpose is indicated. A faulty fuse is identified by a blown jumper.
Use tweezers to remove the fuse.
Replace the blown fuse with a new one.
We remove the large fuse from the block by hand.
We remove the relay from the block by hand...
...and replace it with a new one.
A new relay or fuse should be installed in place of a failed one only after the cause of the malfunction has been determined and eliminated. It is allowed to use only standard fuses designed for a certain rated current (the rated current of the fuse is indicated on its body).
Reinstall the mounting block cover.
To replace fuses and relays of the mounting block in the passenger compartment, under the glove box...
...turn the two latches counterclockwise...
...and, sliding the mounting block towards you, lower it.
Using tweezers, remove the blown fuse from the mounting block in the engine compartment.
We remove the relay from the block by hand.
We replace the fuse and relay with new ones. We install the mounting block in place.
The on-board network is DC, with a rated voltage of 12 V. The electrical equipment is made according to a single-wire circuit: the negative terminals of sources and consumers of electricity are connected to the “ground” - the body and power unit of the car, which act as the second wire.
When the engine is not running, the switched on consumers are powered by the battery, and after the engine is started - by the generator.
Generator
Generator:
1 - contact bolt;
2 - generator connector;
3 - casing;
4 - tie rod;
5 - back cover;
6 - front cover;
7 - pulley
When the generator is running, the battery is charged.
The vehicle is equipped with a starter battery with a capacity of 60 Ah.
The generator is a synchronous AC electrical machine with a built-in rectifier unit and voltage regulator.
The generator pulley is driven by a poly V-belt from the auxiliary drive pulley.
The stator and generator covers are secured with four studs. The rotor shaft rotates in ball bearings installed in the generator covers. The bearings are closed type and the lubricant contained in them is designed for the entire service life of the generator. The rear bearing is pressed onto the rotor shaft and is mounted in a plastic sleeve in the rear cover. The front bearing is installed in the front cover and covered with a pressure plate; the bearing has a sliding fit on the rotor shaft.
The generator stator contains a three-phase winding. The ends of the phase windings are soldered to the terminals of a rectifier block consisting of six silicon diodes (valves) - three “positive” and three “negative”, pressed into two horseshoe-shaped aluminum plate holders in accordance with the polarity (positive and negative on different plates). The rectifier unit is mounted on the back cover of the generator.
The field winding is located on the generator rotor, and its leads are soldered to two copper slip rings on the rotor shaft. Power is supplied to the excitation winding through two brushes, which are installed in the brush holder.
The brush holder is structurally combined with the voltage regulator and is mounted on the back cover of the generator (under a plastic casing).
The voltage regulator is a non-separable unit; if it fails, it is replaced assembled with the brush holder.
The negative side of the battery should always be connected to the vehicle ground, and the positive side to the generator output. Reverse connection will lead to breakdown of the generator rectifier diodes.
When the generator is running do not do it disconnect the battery, as the resulting voltage surges can damage the electronic components of the circuit.
Starter
Starter:
1 - traction relay;
2 - front cover;
3 - coupling bolt;
4 - body;
5 - back cover;
6 - control output of the traction relay;
7 - contact bolts
The starter is a four-brush DC motor with permanent magnet excitation, with a planetary gearbox, a roller freewheel clutch and a two-winding traction relay.
Permanent magnets are attached to the steel starter housing. The starter housing and covers are secured with two bolts. The armature shaft rotates in plain bearings. The torque from the armature shaft is transmitted to the drive shaft through a planetary gearbox, consisting of a central and ring gear (with internal gearing) and three satellites on the carrier (drive shaft).
A freewheel (overrunning clutch) with a drive gear is installed on the drive shaft. It transmits torque in only one direction - from the starter to the engine, separating them after the engine starts. This is to protect the starter from damage due to excessive speed.
The traction relay is used to engage the drive gear with the ring gear of the engine crankshaft flywheel and turn on the power to the starter motor. When the ignition key is turned to position III, power is supplied to both windings of the traction relay (retracting and holding). The relay armature retracts and moves the drive lever, which moves the freewheel with the drive gear along the splines of the drive shaft, engaging the gear with the flywheel ring. In this case, the retractor winding is turned off and the contacts of the traction relay are closed, including the starter motor. After the key returns to position II, the holding winding of the traction relay is de-energized and the relay armature, under the action of the spring, returns to its original position - the relay contacts open and the drive gear disengages from the flywheel.
The faulty traction relay is replaced. A malfunction of the starter drive is detected during inspection after disassembling the starter.
Lighting and alarm system
The lighting and alarm system includes two block lights; fog lights; side direction indicators; rear lights; license plate lights; additional brake signal; interior and luggage compartment lighting lamps; sound signal, as well as switches for all these consumers.
Block headlight:
1 - protective cover for the side light lamp;
2 - protective cover for the high beam lamp;
3 - screw for adjusting the headlight beam in the vertical plane;
4 - protective cover for the low beam lamp;
5 - screw for adjusting the headlight beam in the horizontal plane;
6 - protective cover for the turn signal lamp;
7 - electrical connector
The headlight units are equipped with: a halogen low beam lamp, a halogen high beam lamp, a side light lamp, a turn signal lamp and an actuator (geared motor) for the headlight beam direction control.
The car is equipped with a headlight corrector with an electromechanical drive, which allows you to adjust the direction of the light beams depending on the load of the car. The headlight range control consists of a regulator on the instrument panel, gear motors installed in the headlights, and connecting wires.
Anti-fog headlight:
1 - adjusting screw;
2 - headlight lamp
Some cars are equipped with fog lights, which are installed in the front bumper. The fog lamp has a halogen lamp, the direction of the light beam of which is adjusted with a screw.
Side direction indicators are installed in the outside rear view mirrors.
The sedan and hatchback use different taillights.
Rear light of a sedan car:
1 - fog and side light lamp;
2 - lamp holder;
3 - direction indicator lamp;
4 - reverse lamp;
5 - brake signal lamp;
6 - flashlight body with diffuser assembly
The rear lamp of the sedan contains lamps: turn indicator, two-filament side and fog lights, brake signal, reverse light.
Location of lamps in the rear light of a car with a hatchback body:
1 - fog and side lights;
2 - direction indicators
The rear lamp of the hatchback contains lamps: a turn indicator and a two-filament brake signal and side light. The hatchback can be equipped with rear lights, in which LEDs are installed instead of side light lamps. In this case, instead of a double-filament brake signal lamp and side light, a brake signal lamp is used.
Installed in the rear bumper of the hatchback fog lights(on the left side) and reversing light (on the right side).
The car can be equipped with one or two sound signals. The sound signals are mounted on a bracket behind the front bumper on the right side.
Airbags
Depending on the configuration, the car may be equipped with a driver airbag, a front passenger airbag, driver and front passenger side airbags and side curtains to protect the driver, front and rear passengers.
The driver's airbag is located in the steering wheel, the passenger's airbag is located in the instrument panel. Side airbags for the driver and front passenger are installed in the backrests of the front seats on the door side. The side curtains are located in the roof lining on the door side. The airbag control unit is installed under the floor tunnel lining between the front seats. This unit also controls the driver and front passenger seat belt pretensioners.
To electrically connect the driver's airbag and horn switches to the instrument panel wiring harness, instead of the usual sliding contact (to avoid sparking and unintentional deployment of the airbag), a drum device with a spiral cable operating on the principle of a tape measure is used.
Drum device with spiral cable:
1 - drum device body;
2 - drum device lead;
3 - wires with airbag block;
4 - connector for connecting the horn switch wire block;
5 - connector for connecting the instrument panel wiring harness block
The drum device is attached to the steering column switch connector. In the cylindrical plastic body of the device, several turns of metal-plastic tape, which is an electrical conductor, are laid spirally. One end of the tape is connected through wires with blocks to the instrument panel harness. The other end of the tape is connected by wires to the airbag blocks and horn switches. The drum leads fit into the holes in the steering wheel hub. When the wheel rotates, the leads turn the drum, and with it the belt, which is located in a cylindrical body either at a larger or smaller radius.
From its middle position, the drum can be rotated in each direction until it stops by 3 turns. This prevents the tape from breaking when the steering wheel is rotated from neutral to full stop in either direction.
Before installing the steering wheel, it is necessary to install the device drum in the middle position, and the tape loop should appear in the window covered with a transparent film.
A multifunctional control unit (electrical package control unit) is installed in the fuse and relay mounting block located in the vehicle interior.
The unit controls the central locking, automatic switching on of exterior lighting, switching on of interior lamps, automatic operation of the windshield wiper, tailgate window wiper, heated windshield, tailgate glass and exterior rear view mirrors, cruise control and battery protection system. batteries.
The locks of all doors and the trunk lid are locked with electric drives built into the locks.
Electric windows
Front door power window:
1 - inner door panel;
2 - lever;
3 - gear sector;
4 - slider;
5 - glass holder
The vehicle may be equipped with power windows for only the front doors or all doors. Removal of electric windows is shown in the chapter "Body".
The power windows are mounted on the inner removable door panels.
Electric window gear motor:
1 - electric motor;
2 - gear housing;
3 - gear
The window lifter gear motor consists of a worm gearbox and a reversible DC motor. A gear is installed on the output shaft of the gearbox, which meshes with the gear sector. There are two levers installed on the sector (one lever is rigidly connected to the sector), connected to the glass holder through two plastic sliders. When the gear sector is turned, the levers also turn, raising or lowering the glass.
Brake lights
Windshield wiper:
1 - bracket;
2 - gear motor;
3 - crank;
4 - brush lever shaft;
5 - traction;
6 - shaft lever
The windshield wiper is installed under the windshield trim. The electric motor of the cleaner is a three-brush, two-speed motor with excitation from permanent magnets. To protect against overloads, a fuse is installed in it.
Hatchback and station wagon vehicles are equipped with a tailgate glass cleaner. The wiper gear motor is mounted on a bracket under the door trim.
The windshield washer consists of a reservoir with an electric pump, nozzles on the hood and connecting hoses. The washer reservoir is installed under the right front fender. The washer pump on hatchbacks and station wagons is reversible; when the pump motor shaft rotates in one direction, fluid from the reservoir is supplied to the windshield, and when rotated in the other direction, fluid is supplied to the glass of the tailgate.
Circuit breakers
Most electrical circuits are protected by fuses. Powerful consumers (rear window heating element, cooling system fan, air conditioning compressor clutch and others) are connected via a relay.
Fuse protecting the starter and generator power circuits
The fuses and relays are installed in two mounting blocks, one of which is located on the left, in the engine compartment, and the second is located under the glove box of the instrument panel. A fuse (150 A) is installed on the wire terminal connected to the “positive” terminal of the battery, protecting the power circuits of the starter and generator.

Ford Focus 2 is one of the most popular foreign cars produced in Russia. This car is very reliable and meets all international standards. But despite this, sooner or later, Focus owners have problems with electrical equipment. This is especially true for new owners of used cars. The very first sign of problems with electrical appliances is the failure of fuses (FC) or interrupting elements (relays).
The fuses that are used in the Ford Focus 2 car are called “knife”; they are flat, medium-sized, plug-in, i.e., they consist of two plug contacts with a fusible jumper in a plastic case of different colors. On the top of the case there is a rating stamped - the current strength, above which the part burns out (the jumper melts). The main function is to open the electrical circuit to prevent electrical equipment failure and possible vehicle fire. For the most powerful current consumers, relays play a protective role.
In general, according to the standard, fuses come in 17 colors, although the shades may vary. For the Ford Focus, the following colors are used to mark these spare parts:
The location of the contact connectors, relays and fuses differs in cars produced from 2005 to 2007 (part number starts from 37), and in 2007 and after restyling 2008 until the end of production of this model in 2010 (numbering starts from 100).
In post-restyling Focuses released in the Russian Federation, there are four options for the location of safety elements and relays. Versions B, C, D, E (F, J) depend on the vehicle configuration. The model of the unit is determined by the last letters of the serial number. For example, 7M5T-14A073-DG belongs to modification D.
Location
Under the hood, if you stand facing the engine, then on the right side there is a switchgear and a relay for the power unit and other components located in the engine compartment (high current). In the cabin, fuses and interrupting elements of the mounting block (low-current) are located under the glove compartment. The assembly is secured to the body with two latches with a rotating mechanism. Covered with upholstery, which is held on by two buttons.
Working with the fuse box under the hood
- Raise the hood.
- Open the lid. This can be done by pulling the lever on the back of the PCB assembly housing. Does not work? Take a medium flat screwdriver and insert it into the lid lock. Slightly tilt the screwdriver and the cover lifts up. Let's take it off.
- On the inside of the lid there are special tweezers fixed in grooves. They make it very convenient to remove fuses. Using pliers can damage the housing if you squeeze too hard. Please note that tweezers are only available in the box near the power unit. There are also sockets for spare fuses on the cover and there should be a schematic graphic representation of the location of fuses and relays.
- We check the diagram and use tweezers to remove the burnt element, and then insert a new one.
- We test the operation of the electrical appliance and close the box, after placing the tweezers in the socket.

The most common problems with electrical equipment:
The air conditioner does not turn on.
- This unit in FordFocus 2 turns on only if the ambient temperature is not lower than +5. First of all, make sure there is enough freon in the system. A special pressure sensor is responsible for this. If the pressure is sufficient, it transmits a signal to the electronic control unit and the AC compressor clutch interrupter switches.
- If, when you turn on the air conditioner, you do not hear a click of the clutch and the engine does not increase speed, then you need to make sure that the compressor shaft pulley is rotating.
- If the pulley is stationary, open the block near the engine, look at the location of fuse F27 (10A) on the cover and check its condition. This PP is responsible for supplying current to the coupling. We remind you that the markings and color of the case differ, depending on the year of manufacture of the Ford Focus 2 and the version of the fuse assembly.
- If replacing the fuse is not required, then check F35 (10 A), which is responsible for supplying power to the air conditioning compressor relay.
- If everything is fine here, we check where the compressor relay is located and diagnose. You can verify the serviceability of this element only by replacement.
- The last option is to make sure the integrity of the hoses and wiring, especially the wires going to the coupling, where breakage occurs most often.
The sound signal (beep) has disappeared
- Check F20 (15 A) in the assembly under the hood.
- If it is intact, you need to try the buzzer. To do this, remove the radiator grille and connect 12 V to the horn contacts. The easiest way to do this is from a battery. No sound - replace.
- If the horn functions, there is a break in the wiring or the horn contacts on the steering wheel need to be cleaned.

Heated rear window disappears
- Most often, the filament on the glass may break. Carefully inspect and, if necessary, seal the break with silver glue or, as a last resort, replace the threads.
- We check F52 (25A). Location: PP block in the cabin.
- We check the wiring and clean the switch contacts.
Important! If, when replacing a fuse, it quickly blows again, you should ring the entire power supply circuit of this device.
The simplest and most common method of checking fuses is replacement. Faulty fuses are sometimes visually indistinguishable from working fuses; they can even be detected by the tester.
