Test drive Infiniti QX70S Design: High definition date. Infiniti cars - the entire model range and prices What is the difference between the QX56 and the QX80

The Infiniti QX80 is an all-wheel drive luxury SUV in the full-size segment, which is the “undisputed flagship” in the Japanese automaker’s model range, which combines an impressive appearance, a luxurious interior, rich equipment and good off-road potential...

Its main target audience is family men with a high level of income, who do not need anything, and through the “iron horse” want to demonstrate their “high social status”...

The premium SUV Infiniti QX80 was born in 2013 - by renaming the QX56 model during a total rebranding of the Japanese brand's lineup, inheriting both the design and the technical component from its predecessor without any major modifications... However, in the spring of 2014, the public debut ( on the catwalks of the New York Auto Show) celebrated the modernized version of the car, however, the update was limited to only “a little bloodshed” - the five-door was slightly adjusted in appearance, new body paint and interior colors were added, and the list of available equipment was expanded, but no specific features were highlighted. improvements to technology.

In November 2017, the Japanese “giant” underwent the second restyling in its life - it was presented to the general public as part of the international motor show in Dubai. And once again, the metamorphoses affected mainly the exterior - the front of the SUV was seriously redrawn, giving it a resemblance to other models of the brand, and the rear was slightly adjusted. True, the changes were not limited to this - the car received new seat upholstery with diamond-shaped stitching and door trim, as well as an improved multimedia complex.

With its entire appearance, the Infiniti QX80 inspires respect and awe, even when standing still, and looks brutal and very pretty, and thanks to the smooth curves of the corners and surfaces, it is also impressive and moderately harmonious.

On the presentable facade of the SUV, small LED “saber” optics are adjacent to a huge chrome “shield” of the radiator grille, and its monumental rear flaunts a large trunk lid and graceful lights.

And from the side, the car is impressive in its scope, emphasizing its majesty with “muscular” sidewalls and wheel arches of impressive size.

The overall dimensions of the Infiniti QX80 are truly gigantic: the length of the car is 5340 mm, height – 1925 mm, width – 2030 mm. Between the pairs of wheels, the “Japanese” has a place for a 3075 mm wheelbase, and under the “belly” there is a ground clearance of 234 mm.

The interior of the Japanese “giant” looks attractive and moderately presentable, although somewhat rustic compared to many competitors, but it is distinguished by careful thought and the highest quality of workmanship.

There is nothing inappropriate or shocking on the front panel of the SUV, everything is very clear and very ergonomic. The instrument cluster is beautiful and informative, the large steering wheel is comfortable and multifunctional, and the solid center console is logically divided into three “thematic floors”: the first controls “climate”, the second controls “music”, and the third has an 8-inch infotainment screen. systems.

The decoration is finished exclusively with “thoroughbred” finishing materials – expensive plastics, high-quality leather and natural wood.

By default, the Infiniti QX80 has a seven-seater interior. The plump front seats look good, but are not entirely comfortable in practice due to the short cushion and weak lateral support.

The rear row of seats, providing passengers with royal space, is divided in the middle by a massive cabinet, and can optionally be replaced with a full-fledged sofa. A three-seater “gallery” is more suitable for only two riders, but it does not suffer from a lack of space.

Even when fully loaded with passengers, the Infiniti QX80 has a 470-liter compartment left to accommodate luggage. The seats of the second and third rows fold electrically into a completely flat area: in the first case, the volume increases to 1400 liters, and in the second - to 2690 liters. The spare wheel of the car is attached under the bottom.

The Japanese SUV is powered by a powerful VK56VD gasoline engine - an aluminum V-shaped eight with a volume of 5.6 liters (5552 cubic centimeters) with direct injection, 32-valve timing, two overhead camshafts driven by a chain, and a VVEL system that changes the lift height valves
The engine, which meets Euro-4 environmental requirements, produces a peak of 405 “horses” at 5800 rpm and 560 Nm of torque potential at 4000 rpm, and is equipped with a 7-speed “automatic” with a “manual” mode and both drive wheels axes.

The All Mode 4×4 all-wheel drive transmission on the Infiniti QX80 is equipped with an electromagnetic clutch in the drive of the front axles and “flaunts” three operating modes:

  • Auto – as the rear wheels slip, up to 50% of the torque is directed to the front wheels;
  • 4H – traction is divided between the axles in equal shares (the clutch is rigidly locked);
  • 4L – downshift started.

But with off-road capabilities, due to its solid size, this “Japanese” is not doing well: its approach, departure and ramp angles are 20.9, 22.3 and 20.7 degrees, respectively.

But in road disciplines the car shows excellent results: this “giant” reaches a maximum speed of 210 km/h, and shoots from zero to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.

In combined driving mode, the five-door consumes 14.5 liters of fuel per “hundred” (20.6 liters are “destroyed” in the city and 11 liters on the highway).

The basis for the Infiniti QX80 is a platform from the Nissan Patrol with a frame integrated into the power frame of the body and having programmed deformation zones in the front and rear, and a longitudinally oriented engine.

The SUV has independent suspension on both axles: “double-link” in the front and “multi-link” in the rear. By default, the car is equipped with HBMC anti-roll technology, which eliminates body vibrations and rolls thanks to the locking hydraulic locks of the front and rear stabilizers under lateral loads.

“In a circle,” the five-door demonstrates ventilated discs of the brake system with a diameter of 350 mm, working in conjunction with a large number of modern “bells and whistles” (ABS, EBD, BAS, etc.).

The steering complex of the “Japanese” has a hydraulic power steering integrated as standard.

On the Russian market, the 2018 Infiniti QX80 model year is offered in two trim levels – “Luxe” and “Luxe ProActive”. The first equipment option with a seven-seat cabin costs a minimum of 4,855,000 rubles, and the second - 5,185,000 rubles (the surcharge for an eight-seat interior in both cases is 15,000 rubles).

  • The initial version boasts: eight airbags, 22-inch wheels, adaptive LED headlights, a multimedia complex, an audio system with 13 speakers, all-round cameras, an automatic parking system, heated, ventilated and electric front seats, heated second row of seats, electric drive trunk lid, leather trim, ABS, TSC, VDC, three-zone climate control, keyless entry system and a bunch of other equipment.
  • The more expensive version additionally has: adaptive cruise control, a rear-view mirror with a built-in display, a lane marking monitoring system, blind spot monitoring, collision avoidance technology and some other bells and whistles.

The birth of the Infinity automobile brand took place against the backdrop of the fuel crisis of the 70s. The economic downturn that followed left many American and European automakers in a difficult position, unable to offer customers something compact and gas-efficient.

However, the Japanese concern Nissan Motor enthusiastically took up the implementation of the new project, and as a result of its global research and development, in 1989 the world public saw the luxurious Infiniti Q45 business sedan, which fully met the hopes of car enthusiasts. The outstanding technical characteristics of Infiniti, due to the powerful V-shaped “eight” under the hood, and the stylish interior made the first Infiniti car a recognized leader in its class.

The name of the new brand was chosen with special care: the manufacturer was faced with the task of separating in the minds of buyers the associations of a simple, unpretentious car evoked by the Nissan brand from the premium segment automaker. With its name, which means “infinity,” and its oval-shaped emblem with the apex of a triangle inside, which symbolizes the road disappearing into infinity, Infinity positions itself as a brand with a constant desire for innovation and new achievements.

With the expansion of the brand’s model line, the Infiniti M30 sports coupe, Infiniti G20 compact sedans, premium FX series crossovers and QX4, QX56 SUVs appear on the markets.

The true peak of Infiniti's popularity came during the period when Carlos Ghosn joined the leadership of the Japanese company. The Infiniti design team began working to improve the appearance of the models, resulting in the luxurious Inifiniti G35.

By 2005, the premium brand managed to enter the world stage and achieve recognition in the global car market with a short but promising history of development.

August 2010 was marked by the appearance of the first hybrid car, the Infiniti M35h, in the Infiniti lineup, sales of which started in the fall of the same year in Japan. After another six months, the model entered the car markets of Europe and the USA.

At the moment, there are more than two hundred Infiniti dealerships around the globe. If the mass Japanese manufacturer Nissan focuses mainly on large sales volumes of its products, its subsidiary Infiniti focuses on an individual approach to the client’s wishes, exclusivity of models, and most importantly, excellent service.

As the good sales results of the last decade have shown, many buyers are willing to pay for luxury, unsurpassed technical characteristics and the highest level of service. The minimum cost of a middle-class Infiniti is one and a half million rubles. The price of an Infinity coupe, roadster or business sedan can reach up to three million. And the most expensive in the brand line is the Infiniti FX SUV, the cost of which can reach up to six million rubles.

In the next few years, the Japanese are going to present to the world public completely new Infiniti passenger cars, which will include not only sedans, but also hatchbacks.

The Infiniti QX80 (formerly known as the QX56) has been updated. Instead of a change of generations, this is the second restyling for the SUV, which has been produced in the current body since 2010. The updated QX80 is assembled in Japan and appeared in the markets of the USA, Middle East and Asia at the end of 2017. Changes to the exterior have refreshed the appearance of the model.

The front part is completely new and more aggressive: larger radiator grille; new, higher raised headlights; the hood has become wider; the front bumper received an even larger air intake and new LED fog lights with an elegant, thin shape. The chrome frame of the radiator grille and air intake has changed, and the air intakes on the wings have a different shape. The rear part has also been modernized - there are new lights, a bumper, and a chrome trim. The design of the huge 22-inch wheels that the QX80 sports as standard has been redesigned. On the Russian market, the new version is offered with the same petrol 5.6 V8 (405 hp) and 7-speed automatic transmission.

Changes to the interior of the 2018 Infiniti QX80 are minimal. These include new seat upholstery (with diamond stitching) and door trim, improved materials and sound insulation. In the standard Luxe version, the car is equipped with LED adaptive headlights, a new InTouch navigation system with information about the traffic situation, and a voice command function in Russian has been added. The car's interior is trimmed with genuine leather, the driver's seat is electrically adjustable in ten directions. For second-row passengers, Infiniti's infotainment center features front-seat headrest-mounted color displays that have increased in size from 7 to 8 inches. The Luxe ProActive version received an extended package of security systems, as well as a premium audio installation Bose Cabin Surround 5.1 with 15 speakers. The main new feature of the Luxe ProActive trim is the digital Smart Rearview Mirror, which allows the driver to use it as a regular mirror or turn it into a video monitor onto which the image from the rear video camera is projected.

The upgraded QX80 in both trim levels is offered with a 5.6-liter petrol V8 model Nissan VK56VD (405 hp), a 7-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The engine features direct fuel injection, a variable valve timing system on all camshafts, as well as a VVEL valve lift system and complies with Euro 5 requirements. In the urban cycle, the QX80 is content with 20.6 liters of gasoline per 100 km and 11 liters outside the city; in the combined cycle, fuel consumption is 14.5 l/100 km. The volume of the fuel tank is 100 liters.

The Infiniti QX80 has an independent spring suspension with double wishbones at the front and an independent air suspension with double wishbones at the rear. Pneumatic elements of the rear suspension maintain constant ground clearance. According to the manufacturer, the updated QX80 received new shock absorbers with damping force reduced by 30% for a smoother ride and to reduce vibrations on rough surfaces. The All-Mode 4WD drive system can calculate required traction in real time and respond instantly to changing conditions. In AUTO mode, it automatically distributes torque between the front and rear wheels for better handling and dynamic acceleration. In addition, there are 2WD, 4WD High and 4WD Low modes. The overall dimensions are impressive: body length - 5340 mm, width - 2030 mm, height - 1925 mm. The wheelbase is 3075 mm, and 12.6 m is required for a turn. The luggage compartment has a volume of 470 liters, which after transforming the interior increases to 2693 liters.

As standard, the 2018 Infiniti QX80 is equipped with a surround view system, an approaching object detection system, and a parking control function. The Luxe ProActive version received an expanded package of Infiniti Drive Assist safety systems, including adaptive cruise control, a lane departure warning system, a blind spot monitoring function, a collision avoidance system when reversing and other equipment.

The Infiniti QX80 is a typical American car, created by Japanese engineers, and at the same time perfectly suitable for Russian conditions. The disadvantages are usually poor visibility, large overhangs and low-profile R22 wheels, more suitable for the highway. Previously, even despite the well-balanced ride quality, the QX80's chassis was noticeably stiff on the country roads. But with the suspension retuned, comfort should improve. On the plus side, experts note excellent dynamics, convenient controls, large capacity, as well as the presence of one of the most powerful V8 engines in the class. In terms of comfort, the best choice would be a seven-seater configuration with second-row captain's chairs.

The test car has a 3.7-liter gasoline engine with 333 hp. with a torque of 362 Nm. The box, of course, is automatic, seven-speed. This is more than enough to go faster than everyone else. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 6.9 seconds, maximum speed is 228 km/h. On the official Infiniti website, the model is called a “born provocateur.” No, guys, this is not a provocateur. This is an instigator. It is impossible to drive it calmly. You start the engine - and within a radius of half a kilometer everything freezes from the angry roar of six “pots”. When fine-tuning this model, they clearly paid special attention to the exhaust sound: the “date” will be the envy of other V8s! It’s nice that the race for sound insulation did not deprive the driver of the opportunity to hear and feel this growl.

Pedal to the floor and... Yes. That's how it should be. Have you all seen it? This is how a real “sneaker” should accelerate: powerfully, sitting on the rear axle, with the appropriate soundtrack. It presses into the seat quite well! And this is not the most powerful version, by the way: there is also an eight-cylinder version with a power of 400 hp in the model range. But this engine also works out the money put into it and the liters poured into the filler neck perfectly: in any speed range the engine is responsive, spins quickly, and willingly delivers traction to all four wheels. It is almost impossible to comply with the speed limit. It’s good that exceeding 20 km/h is not (yet) recorded by cameras! But even with this “indulgence”, the owner of the QX70 will regularly receive “letters of happiness” - only after 100 km/h the character of the car is revealed 100%.
