Can't decide what to buy: Renault Kaptur or Hyundai Greta? Renault Kaptur or Hyundai Creta: which is better and why? Comparison of Captur and Crete

In order to talk in detail and closely compare the performance and configuration, you need to take into account several features. So, Creta has four available equipment versions, while Kaptur has three. Both of them, however, have two engine options and versions with front or all-wheel drive, but in terms of the number of transmissions, Kaptur is ahead: in addition to the “mechanics”, not only a hydromechanical “automatic” is offered, but also a variator. But if the notorious French “automatic” is as old as that of the platform Duster and has four steps, then the Korean unit can already boast of quite “modern” six gears. But in terms of “tax practicality” of engines, they have parity, although Creta wins in absolute terms: its initial 1.6-liter unit has 123 hp. (121 hp in the all-wheel drive version, but we will omit this nuance so as not to produce extra numbers), while Kaptur has 114. More powerful two-liter engines also differ slightly in power: the Korean one has a “tricky” 149.6 liters .s., and French - artless 143.

In our comparative “investigative research”, we will go from the basic versions to the more expensive ones, finding out how much the cheapest four-wheel drive option costs along the way, and ending with the top equipment options.

Basic equipment

Both crossovers already in the basic version offer quite a decent list of equipment. Among the "for granted" options - power steering, front-mounted airbags, active safety systems and adjustable driver's seat and steering wheel height. Also, both have a full set of power windows and mirrors with electric and heated mirrors, and both cars already in the base offer not the most “wretched” audio system that has not only USB and AUX, but also Bluetooth, and control on the steering wheel (or steering column joystick - after all, this is so in french).

Creta, in defiance of the "Frenchman", necessarily has a tire pressure monitoring system - which, by the way, cannot be purchased for Kaptur for any money - and a front armrest with boxing. But the French crossover is French for that, in order to be more elegant and refined: in contrast to the Korean “stamps”, there are 16-inch alloy wheels, as well as LED running lights, an engine start button and an “impulse” power window for the driver. For a modest surcharge of 7,990 rubles, you can supplement the “base” with heated front seats, which also looks like a logical proposal.

The difference in the pricing approaches of the launch versions is obvious, you just need to look at a couple more differences. The cheapest Creta costs 799,900 rubles, and this is noticeably cheaper than 879,000 for Kaptur. However, in the latter we pay not only for the notorious French elegance, but also for quite mundane things: the most, perhaps, the main distinguishing feature is the presence of an air conditioner. In addition to it, for the sake of lowering the price, the Korean crossover abandoned such trifles as the central locking control panel in the key, hooks for fixing cargo in the trunk, an additional organizer under the trunk floor, and even the shelf of this trunk itself. Seat heating is not available here even for a surcharge, and stamped wheels are clearly registered here for a reason.

Another difference in approach lies in the choice of transmission. If for a Korean car “the base is the base”, and only front-wheel drive, a junior engine and “mechanics” are available in it, then French policy, other things being equal, allows the installation of a variator - you will have to pay extra for it 50,990 rubles.

Definitely with air conditioning

To get air conditioning, heated front seats and the aforementioned “cut out” little things from the penultimate paragraph of the last chapter, you need to choose the second Active package in the Creta hierarchy. In addition, this performance includes ... nothing: yes, the differences between the versions come down to these two "global" and a few minor options. If you want more, then you are invited to pay an additional 45,000 rubles, for which the Active package will add a heated steering wheel (which, like tire pressure sensors, is not available for Kaptur for any gingerbread), heated rear seats (similarly) and projection headlights, as well as leather-trimmed steering wheel and LED DRLs, which the Frenchman already has in the “base”.

Kaptur again answers this “in French”: yes, in the Drive version it will not have a heated steering wheel and rear sofa, but it will have cruise control, a key card with keyless entry, power folding mirrors and front side airbags, and for leather steering wheel will not have to pay extra. If you want to pay extra, then for 60 thousand you can get rear parking sensors, rain and light sensors, climate control, heated windshield and advanced multimedia with a seven-inch screen, navigation and a rear view camera. All these options, by the way, are ordered one by one, not in packages, which is convenient for an individual configuration. And all this is especially interesting against the background of the fact that the Creta “cruise”, keyless entry, a light sensor, a rear view camera and a cool multimedia system will be available only for an extra charge and only in the top version - and this is somewhat different money.

By the way, about money: Creta continues to be cheaper than Kaptur in these equipment options: a front-wheel drive car on the “mechanics” costs 899,900 rubles against 944,990, and if you choose an “automatic” and a CVT, respectively, then the price tags will be 949,900 and 994,990 rubles. On the other hand, now the question of why it is proposed to pay almost 50 thousand extra when choosing Kaptur no longer arises.

The cheapest all-wheel drive

Considering the most affordable option with all-wheel drive, let's make a reservation in advance: a larger number of trim levels creates a small difference between these two crossovers. At Renault, all-wheel drive is available only from the “second” Drive configuration - at Creta, too, from the “second”, but it is counted from the notorious modest “base”. Thus, Creta has the most affordable 4x4 version in the Active version discussed above, and it will be a 1.6-liter car with manual transmission for 979,900 rubles. However, the “Korean” has a version with all-wheel drive and an automated transmission only in the following configuration Comfort, while Kaptur has everything in the same Drive. Therefore, we will take a closer look at this particular pair of performances.

So, the all-wheel drive Creta in the Comfort package finally gets rid of unnecessary modesty. In addition to the leather steering wheel trim and heated front seats common to both cars, it gets climate control, reach steering and roof rails, as well as options from the “paid package” above - projection headlights, foglights, heated steering wheel and LED DRLs. This is also where the alloy wheels and the driver's automatic window regulator come in, which we mentioned as standard for the Kaptur.

However, despite all of the above, the Kaptur still has "unanswered" cruise control, a key card with keyless entry, power folding mirrors and front side airbags. Unless climate control is now playing in his favor: for him, unlike Creta, you have to pay extra. But the above-mentioned set for 60 thousand, which includes rear parking sensors, rain and light sensors, climate control, heated windshield and multimedia with a seven-inch screen, navigation and a rear view camera, remains valid.

The "technical rationale" for the prices of these versions is based on the fact that not only all-wheel drive is available here, but also two gearbox options. However, the main difference between the Korean and French crossover is that the first has the “cheapest” all-wheel drive combined with a 1.6-liter engine, while the second has exclusively with the “older” two-liter. As for the gearbox, the CVT is not available for all-wheel drive in Kaptur, leaving a choice of a six-speed “mechanics” or a four-speed “automatic”, while in Creta both automatic and manual transmissions have six steps.

As we said at the beginning of this section, the minimum cost of an all-wheel drive Creta is 979,900 rubles - but this is a car in the Active version. Comfort, which interests us, already costs 1,069,900 rubles with “mechanics” and 1,119,900 with “automatic”. At about the same level, it now turns out to be “expensive” earlier Kaptur: a crossover with a manual transmission costs 1,074,990 rubles, and with an automatic transmission - 1,124,990. At a comparable price, its advantage is a two-liter engine, and its disadvantage is a four-speed “automatic”.

Base Max

The marketing policy for both crossovers is such that even the highest equipment in the hierarchy does not mean maximum equipment - you still have to pay extra for something. However, this does not prevent us from comparing exactly these “older” performances - Style for Kaptur and Travel for Creta.

Here, both cars are required to receive rear parking sensors and alloy wheels - however, for Creta in the Travel version they are 16-inch versus 17-inch in the Comfort version. This is where the similarities of the configurations end: the struggle and the game of catch-up begin.

Creta catches up with Kaptur, getting side airbags, and Kaptur does it in terms of LED fog lights, climate control and the driver's seat armrest - which, by the way, is not "boxed" between the seats, but a folding one: there will be no box here anyway . But, unlike the “Korean”, the “Frenchman” in the “basic top” does not require additional payment for rain and light sensors, heated windshield, rear view camera and the previously mentioned multimedia system with a seven-inch screen and navigation. Of the "unique" Creta options, it is worth mentioning the curtain airbags that come with the side airbags, as well as the proprietary Supervision instrument panel with a 3.5-inch screen and backlight brightness control.

The choice of powertrains and drive types is wide for both crossovers: both can be selected with both a 1.6-liter and a two-liter engine and front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. But Hyundai excludes the possibility of purchasing a “top-end” all-wheel drive 1.6-liter car on the “mechanics”, while Renault has such a combination impossible in principle, so they also excluded the two-liter all-wheel drive “mechanical” version, leaving the “urban” front-wheel drive 1.6- liter version with a variator as a starter. In addition, the Koreans do not combine a two-liter engine with a manual transmission, leaving only the choice between front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

And the price tags of cars here also fluctuate within the limits of “plus or minus”, sometimes surpassing, sometimes inferior to each other. So, for a front-wheel drive 1.6-liter Creta with manual transmission, they ask for 1,034,900 rubles, and with automatic transmission - 50 thousand more, 1,084,900, while a similar version of Kaptur costs a little cheaper, 1,064,990 rubles. A Korean crossover with a two-liter engine, automatic transmission and all-wheel drive costs 1,224,900 rubles, and a French crossover costs 1,194,990.

Nowhere richer

Well, in conclusion, let's compare the versions filled with options as much as possible - by the way, for Creta there are a lot of such "paid" features in addition to the maximum configuration.

For both cars, a leather interior is offered for a surcharge - this is the only "same" paid option. The second and final option for the Kaptur is the "Orange" interior personalization package, which includes seats with orange textile inserts, orange center console surrounds and floor mats with reflective orange outline.

Creta has an impressive list of "special stages". For starters, it has a lot of what was already included in the "regular" list of options of previous versions of Kaptur: keyless entry, heated windshield, light sensor, rear view metering, cruise control, 17-inch alloy wheels and a multimedia system with seven-inch touchscreen and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Well, the list of what you can’t buy at Renault included chrome trim on the exterior door handles, heated rear seats, electrically heated windshield washer nozzles and two additional high-frequency speakers.

The “really maximum” Creta equipment costs a good hundred thousand more than that of Kaptur: 1,349,900 rubles versus 1,245,000. Of course, both cars have a two-liter engine, all-wheel drive and an automatic transmission.

Well, in conclusion, it should be said that functional options are not all that you can pay extra for when buying. When choosing Creta in metallic or mother-of-pearl color, you will have to pay 5,000 rubles, and in the case of Kaptur - three times more, 16,000. a blue or orange roof for 9,000 rubles and 17-inch orange Steppe Energy alloy wheels for a modest 7,000. Another interesting fact is that the ERA-GLONASS system is also an additional option for all versions and costs 12,000 rubles , while for Hyundai Creta it is included in the list of basic equipment.

findings

Now, looking at the tables, you can draw personal conclusions, as well as understand how Hyundai achieved a more attractive starting price and lower cost for other trim levels. In addition, it is easy to understand which options are individual for each of the cars, and, having determined which of them are more important to you personally, form preferences. The choice, as always, remains with the buyer - well, we traditionally hope that we have made the decision-making process much easier.

And which one would you prefer?

They were expected, grinding every piece of news, created club forums and websites. And then besieged the dealerships and signed up in the queue. They are Hyundai Creta and Renault Kaptur, which debuted almost simultaneously. What to choose - Hyundai or Renault? Let's help you figure it out!

For beautiful eyes

Or maybe no one chooses between them? The first thing that shocked me was a security guard at the exit of some housing complex. “Oh, can I keep you for a couple of minutes? What kind of Renault is this? Cute!" From a stern, large man in uniform, you obviously do not expect that he will like the forehead-shaped Kaptur with bizarre sides, and even in an orange and black color.

Hyundai Creta

Renault Captur

The Kaptur is also good in the back, but in profile it seems a little stretched - apparently, the fact that the body from the more compact European Captur had to be adapted to the Duster platform affects it. However, it is indeed 63 mm longer than the Hyundai Creta. A Korean woman from St. Petersburg does not shine with forms and is emphatically modest, but she attracts no less attention - we also got her in orange. "Well, how's the car?" - asked a neighbor on the porch, who got out of an old Toyota Corolla, and then walked around the Creta for 10 minutes.

Although, why be surprised if both Kaptur and Creta sport LED taillights and 17-inch wheels in the maximum trim levels? But we could not unequivocally give the palm to one of these crossovers, and a small poll only assured the opinion: older people like Hyundai, and young people vote for Renault.

Renovation in a high-rise building

The inside is exactly the same! Renault lures with a lot of bright solutions - orange inserts on the seats and the center console edging, an instrument panel with a digital speedometer and an unusually shaped climate control unit (all from Renault Clio). But over time, there are fewer reasons for joy. The plastic is hard everywhere, the steering wheel here is not adjustable for reach even in the maximum configuration, and women will be unpleasantly surprised by its effort when parking. Captur does not have a normal armrest with a box inside, and in shapeless seats you start to fidget after a couple of hundred kilometers - your back gets tired.

Hyundai Creta

Renault Captur

Renault's interior is enlivened by orange inserts on the front panel and seats (you need to pay 13,990 rubles for them), but Hyundai has fewer ergonomic punctures and much better visibility

Hyundai, on the contrary, is conservative and boring - the eye clings only to a pleasant “tidy” with white backlit arrows and scales. But it’s more comfortable to sit here - you can pull the steering wheel towards you! It is a pity that both the “steering wheel” and the chairs are sheathed with slippery leatherette. I was surprised by the tiny touch screen of the multimedia system - now there are no such and such in mobile phones!

Creta surpasses Kaptur in small things - here it has a full-fledged armrest, 2 12-volt sockets in front, three-stage seat heating (Renault has 1 position) and a steering wheel (which Captur does not have at all). True, Hyundai's glove compartment is quite tiny - you can put A4 papers here if you are not afraid to crumple them. And even in the most expensive Comfort version with Style and Advanced packages for 1,289,900 rubles, Hyundai does not have a rain sensor, navigation system and cruise control! By the way, it has added 25 thousand in price since the start of sales, although the most affordable modification in the price list still costs 749,000 rubles.

Hyundai Creta

Renault Captur

The driver's seat is more comfortable in Hyundai, and even Creta boasts heated rear seats! The wheelbase of Renault is 83 mm longer, but it has parity in rear space, and the roof of Hyundai is even higher. But at Renault, the doors completely cover the thresholds, and at Hyundai, you can get your pants dirty. Leather seat upholstery is also available for Captur, but for an additional 36 thousand rubles. There are no folding armrests at the back - both crossovers do not count

Market Success

This is also why the statistics speak in favor of Crete - in just 5 months it has already settled among the 25 most popular models of the year with a result of almost 18 thousand cars. Kaptur starts from 859 thousand and is almost twice as inferior in sales. But do not forget that the version with a variator, on which Renault makes the main bet, appeared only in September. However, since its appearance in showrooms in August, the Creta has consistently outperformed even the Renault Duster, which previously held the title of the country's most popular crossover.

Our Renault Kaptur in the top Style is 1,163,980 rubles. Noticeably cheaper than Hyundai, even if you have to pay extra for a leather interior in Capture. What else is this money? A two-liter 143-horsepower engine, climate control, an engine start button (and, by the way, a remote start system with a key card), comfort access, parking sensors and a rear-view camera, a multimedia system with navigation, all-wheel drive and ... yes, that the most four-speed automatic, which has long been known from Renault models.

Hyundai Creta

Renault Captur

A two-liter Creta can also be bought in a front-wheel drive version, saving 80 thousand rubles on this. Kaptur, on the contrary, with a top engine is offered only with four driving wheels

Automaton battle

That is why the Kaptur starts quite slowly from a place (although the characteristics assure that it accelerates to a hundred faster than the Crete), and the box sometimes twitches when switching. Before overtaking, it is better to switch to a step down in manual mode, and on the track such a Kaptur frustrates with increased crankshaft speeds. Which, however, does not affect the acoustic comfort in any way - a very quiet car!

The strength of Hyundai is a six-speed automatic, available for any of the two engines (1.6 and 2.0). But that's not the only reason the Creta rushes forward like a stung one - typical for Hyundai, the first response to the gas pedal is unnecessarily harsh. And this makes it difficult in traffic jams or when trying to fit into a tight parking space - how not to end up in a neighbor's bumper! Otherwise, there are no complaints about the power unit, although the box is trying with all its might to stay at the higher levels and when overtaking or accelerating, you have to press the pedal to the kickdown.

Hyundai Creta

Renault Captur

The most surprising thing is that fuel consumption in urban conditions for crossovers turned out to be the same - 11.5-11.7 l / 100 km. But if Kaptur needs to be filled with “95th” gasoline, then Creta is certified for the use of “92nd”. Nice bonus. And in general, Creta is good on city streets - it has much better visibility, especially forward, a light steering wheel that women will definitely like, and it is not afraid of turns.

What is good for Creta is good for Captur...

With Renault, the opposite is true - shocks from bumps in the arc are transmitted to the “tight” steering wheel, and KamAZ can hide behind thick front pillars. But the more difficult the conditions, the better for Captur! On the days of the test, the road was covered with snow, but even on standard all-season Pirelli Scorpion Verde tires, the car is easy to feel (thanks to the hydraulic booster!) And clings to the surface well. And just a little - ESP will delicately enter into the matter. Very transparent behavior!

Hyundai Creta

Renault Captur

But the main thing is a fantastic ride on bad roads. Pits, potholes, primer - it's all over the place! Hyundai feels more shaky and fussy, and the one who thought of changing the Creta into Sava Eskimo Ice spikes should be deprived of the award - and the point is not only that the spikes in it seem to be just for decoration, but they also buzz unpleasantly , which only emphasizes the poor sound insulation of the wheel arches.

Without "winter" oddities, both crossovers could not do. For example, in Renault, the electric heating of the windshield is turned on only simultaneously with the blowing mode. If you want to quickly thaw - listen to the sound of the fan and air! And on the Creta, the buttons for heating the seats and steering wheel are grouped under the climate control unit, which makes you think, does it really have no threads in the “front”? There is! But you need to look for the key ... to the left of the steering wheel. Rear-view cameras in winter Moscow become useless after half an hour of driving. It's good that they are duplicated by parking sensors. And Hyundai also freezes frame wiper blades. And this is with a car for almost 1.3 million rubles ...

Hyundai Creta

Renault Captur

The trunk is nominally slightly larger for Hyundai (402 liters versus 387 for Renault), but the Captur has the correct shape, and the wheel arches do not protrude into the hold. Instead, Crete has 2 niches along the edges (one of them with a strap), and a full-size spare wheel is hidden in the underground, around which there is also a place to place all sorts of small items. All-wheel drive Capturs are equipped with a dokatka

Swapped bodies?

It turned out surprisingly - with all its "European" appearance and a bunch of bright details, Renault Kaptur is most impressive in difficult conditions. Rough habits and flaws in visibility will not please in the city, but the omnivorous suspension and "Duster" reliability should ensure that he is loved by residents of regions with bad roads. In addition, it looks non-trivial and quiet inside. But young people are unlikely to like the sluggish acceleration of the Capture.

On the contrary, for all its ordinary appearance, Hyundai Creta is a real city dweller. Easy to drive, comfortable to sit on, with good visibility and a nimble power unit. But it upsets the suspension, which shakes the inhabitants of the cabin on short waves and junctions at typical city speeds, and on a long journey it will tire you with tire noise and the lack of cruise control. And what do older people want, if not comfort and peace?

In Russia, many motorists prefer crossovers. Such cars are distinguished by impressive dimensions, a roomy trunk and high ground clearance. Today, the choice of crossovers is simply huge. But we will consider the budget line (in the region of one million rubles) and try to compare the Hyundai Greta and Renault Kaptur. Photos, reviews and features of these cars - further.

general characteristics

Renault Kaptur is a French B-class all-wheel drive crossover. Official sales in Russia started in the summer of 2016. The car is assembled in the Moscow region.

Hyundai Greta is a crossover of Korean origin, but since 2016 it has been assembled near St. Petersburg. According to the manufacturer, "Greta" was specially prepared for Russian conditions - the bottom processing was improved and the ground clearance was increased.

Both cars are offered in a 5-seater version. They are affordable and have a nice design. But which is better - Renault Kaptur or Hyundai Greta? Which one is more comfortable, faster and more economical? To answer these questions, let's compare the Hyundai Greta car with Renault Kaptur.

Exterior

Let's start the comparison with the design. Consider Renault Kaptur. This car has a rather pleasant appearance. This was achieved due to the large area of glazing - it is one third of the total volume of the body. The car has a look similar to other Renault models - the same wide grille and headlights are used on the Logan of the last years of production. The Kaptur bumper has a short overhang. This contributes to better cross-country ability. Also in the bumper there is an angular strip with running lights. The edge of the arches is equipped with a plastic protective lining. The same is on the thresholds. The rear arches are slightly swollen - this gives the crossover a more toned appearance. But due to the lack of different-wide discs, the wheels at the back look awkward.

The windshield of the Renault Kaptur slightly extends onto the roof. This provides not only a good overview for the driver, but also gives individuality to the design. In general, the exterior of the "Frenchman" deserves high praise. Design due to large angles and glass elements will not seem outdated for at least another 5-6 years.

Now about the "Korean". It is quite difficult to compare Hyundai Greta and Renault Kaptur in appearance. Koreans have their own ideology regarding design. If Renault is more adapted for young people, then Hyundai is already quite a family car. There are no such bold lines and contours. In front - a modest radiator grille, trapezoidal PTF and linsed headlights. The silhouette of the "Korean" cannot be called dynamic - it is a calm car, without frills and aggressive forms. The French are more creative in this regard, reviews say.

Hyundai Greta and Renault Kaptur are offered in different colors (more than ten in both cases). Therefore, everyone can choose a car to their liking.

Dimensions, ground clearance

Both cars belong to the class of subcompact crossovers. However, Renault received a larger body. So, its length is 4.34 meters, width - 1.81, height - 1.61 meters. But, as the reviews note, the internal space of the “Korean” is implemented more successfully. The Greta crossover itself received the following dimensions: length - 4.27 meters, width - 1.78 meters, height - 1.63.

The ground clearance of Renault Kaptur and Hyundai Greta is a different story. The Korean manufacturer said that he had adapted the car for Russian conditions by increasing the ground clearance. However, its size is 19 centimeters. Youth "Kaptur" without "adaptation" has a factory, 21-centimeter clearance. Also, the French crossover is distinguished by short overhangs. This allows you to increase the departure angle up to 31 degrees. not available in all trim levels. This applies to both Renault Kaptur and Hyundai Greta. Note that in the "base" the drive goes to the front wheels. The rear "trolley" is connected through a viscous coupling. Both crossovers do not have differential lock - this is purely

Salon "Greta"

Let's start our review of the interior with the Hyundai Greta. the crossover is implemented more successfully - the car has good ergonomics and high-quality sound insulation. The interior design is very strict, mostly in dark colors. The center console houses the multimedia display. There is a slot for memory cards and USB drives. The radio also reads discs.

Below is a climate control unit, a 12-volt socket and an alarm button. The panel is not overloaded with unnecessary details - this is a big plus. At the same time, you can reach the radio and the gearshift lever without looking up from the seat back. The chairs themselves are equipped with good lateral support. In the middle is an armrest and two cupholders. Passenger side glove box won't lock. The interior trim is fabric, but artificial leather is available in luxury versions. The door cards have a pocket for storing magazines and other small items.

By the way, already in the basic configuration, the Hyundai crossover is equipped with a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, which allows you to remotely control the audio system without being distracted from the movement. The steering wheel is adjustable in two directions and has a pleasant grip - note the reviews of the owners.

Renault Kaptur or Hyundai Greta? We consider the salon "Frenchman"

The interior of the Captura is strongly reminiscent of the Duster and Logan - the same oval and smooth panel shapes, round air duct deflectors and the shape of the seats.

The design of the front panel simply screams about its budget - the lines are so simple and primitive that it is simply impossible to attribute Kaptur to a more expensive class. But "Hyundai" looks more presentable. Nevertheless, it is quite comfortable and convenient to be inside - reviews say. For the driver, a modern steering wheel with a pleasant grip, a seat with a lot of adjustments and a dashboard with a digital speedometer are provided. On the center console is a multimedia display with a strange oval border. Why the French applied this decision is unknown. Just like in the "Korean", there are two armrests (front and rear). But the glove compartment is very modest. As for the finish, Kaptura is available in fabric with 3D inserts or leather. As an option, the use of bright inserts is proposed.

Answering the question "what is better - Renault Kaptur" or "Hyundai Greta"", it is necessary to note the lack of free space for the "Frenchman". This was partly due to the low roof - the rear passengers rest their heads against the ceiling. In Hyundai, due to a more elongated body, this drawback is leveled. Subjectively, it does not seem so cramped, although the size of the "Korean" is more compact than the "Frenchman". The design itself in "Greta" seems more solid and pleasant. The Captur has a lot of weird lines and budget plastics. In terms of interior, the “Korean” wins significantly.

Specifications

Both crossovers are equipped with a choice of two petrol power units. This is a line of 1.6- and 2-liter engines. If we consider the Kaptur, the base unit develops 114 horsepower. "Top" gives out 143 power. The "Korean" performance indicators are much better. So, a 1.6-liter engine produces 123 horsepower, and a 2-liter engine - 149. This allows crossovers to actively pick up speed. But not everything is so clear. In some versions, Hyundai is slower than Renault. To find out who is faster - Hyundai Greta or Renault Kaptur, we will consider their performance characteristics below.

Dynamics, acceleration

In many ways, these indicators depend on the installed checkpoint. The following transmissions are provided for the Renault Kaptur crossover:

  • Five-speed mechanics.
  • Stepless variator.
  • Six-speed mechanics.
  • Automatic transmission for 4 gears.

The last two are only available with a two-liter engine. The base unit, equipped with a 5-speed manual, accelerates the car to hundreds in 12.5 seconds. On the CVT, this figure is even slower - 12.9. The maximum speed is 171 and 166 kilometers per hour for manual transmission and CVT, respectively. Remarkably, the fuel consumption on the variator is less - 6.9 liters versus 7.4 (for mechanics) in the combined cycle.

Now let's move on to two-liter modifications. They come with all-wheel drive. The version with 6MKPP accelerates to hundreds in 10.5 seconds. On the machine, the crossover accelerates in 11.2. The maximum speed is 185 and 180 kilometers per hour for the first and second boxes, respectively. Fuel consumption in the combined cycle - 8 liters with 6MKPP. The old four-speed automatic makes itself felt - from 8.9 liters in the same mode. In the conditions of the city, the flow rate often reaches 12.

Who is faster - Renault Kaptur or Hyundai Greta? Consider the characteristics of the latter. "Korean" can be equipped with one of two gearboxes offered by the manufacturer:

  • Six-speed mechanics.
  • Six-band automatic.

Moreover, the latter can be installed even on the 1.6-liter version. What are the dynamic characteristics of Greta? Acceleration to hundreds with the base engine and mechanics takes 12.1 seconds. On the machine "Greta" is a little slower - gaining a hundred in 12.3 seconds. And the maximum speed in both cases is the same - 169 kilometers per hour. Fuel consumption is also not significantly different. The car consumes 7 and 7.2 liters per 100 kilometers in the combined cycle.

The two-liter version of the Hyundai Greta, unlike the Kaptur, is equipped only with an automatic transmission. Acceleration to hundreds takes 10.2 seconds in front and 10.6 in all-wheel drive. The maximum speed is limited to 183 kilometers per hour. Fuel consumption for mono- and all-wheel drive versions varies from 7.5 to 8 liters in the combined cycle. In the city, both modifications fit into the top ten.

If we compare Hyundai Greta and Renault Kaptur, the Korean will be more dynamic. However, it also has more fuel consumption - this must be taken into account when buying. Well, the choice between dynamics and fuel efficiency is a purely individual matter.

Reliability

Many people are also interested in this question. Which is more reliable - Hyundai Greta or Renault Kaptur? If we talk about powertrains, both cars have reliable installations. The main maintenance requirements are oil changes every 7.5 thousand kilometers and a fuel filter every 60. However, Greta engines are less prone to detonation. They can run on 92 gasoline, while Renault's high-tech engines only run on 95. The gearbox on both crossovers is also reliable - both VRGG and automatic. The exception is the variator from Renault. Here you have to change the clutch every 30 thousand kilometers. In terms of reliability, Greta is a more resourceful car.

Price

What to choose - Renault Kaptur or Hyundai Greta? The cost of these cars is approximately the same. Let's start with Greta. It is offered in several configurations:

  • "Start".
  • "Active".
  • "Comfort".
  • Comfort plus.

As an option, the dealer offers the installation of the "Warm Options" package. This concept means heated mirrors, windshield, front and rear seats. The cost of the package is 50 thousand rubles.

The initial cost of the car in 2017 is 750 thousand rubles. The basic package includes:

  • Four power windows.
  • Power steering.
  • Disc brakes all around.
  • Audio system.
  • Cloth interior and 16-inch forged wheels.

As we can see, the level of equipment is quite modest. In addition, there is no air conditioning, and this is a very important option for many. The average configuration "Active" is available at a price of 884 thousand rubles. A luggage rack, power side mirrors, air conditioning and all-wheel drive are added to the basic list of options. The Comfort version costs 80 thousand more. Here the buyer will receive alloy wheels, climate control and heated front seats (at no extra charge).

The maximum configuration "Comfort Plus" is available for 1 million rubles. These are exclusively all-wheel drive versions with a two-liter engine. The package includes parking sensors, electric power steering, 6 airbags, multimedia and a lot of auxiliary systems (course stabilization, assistance when starting to climb, and so on).

Which is better - Hyundai Greta or Renault Kaptur? Let's move on to the last one. The crossover is offered in several trim levels:

  • Life.
  • "Drive".
  • "Style".

The minimum equipment is available at a price of 880 thousand rubles and includes:

  • Air conditioning.
  • Halogen fog lights.
  • Hydraulic power steering.
  • Power side mirrors.
  • Audio system (four speakers).
  • Front airbags.

The Drive version is available for 930 thousand rubles. Added here are side curtain airbags, 17-inch alloy wheels, push-button start, cruise control and heated front seats.

The maximum configuration "Style" is available at a price of 1 million 50 thousand rubles. This cost includes:

  • Two tone body paint.
  • Multimedia complex with rearview camera and navigation.
  • Rear parking aid.
  • Light and rain sensors.
  • Heated windshield.
  • LED fog lights.
  • Climatic installation.

Summing up

In this article, we compared the Hyundai Greta and Renault Kaptur. These cars are in the same class and in a similar price category. So, what is better - Hyundai Greta or Renault Kaptur? The first crossover has a low cross, even with all-wheel drive. He simply lacks ground clearance and shortened overhangs. However, this car is more than suitable for the city. The crossover has a good, high-torque engine and can be equipped with a modern 6-speed automatic transmission. The "Frenchman" is equipped only with an old torque converter from Jatco, which does not please the owners with fuel efficiency and dynamics. Taking a car for a large city on a mechanic is just crazy. The Korean manufacturer offers automatic transmission already in the “minimum wage”, with a 1.6-liter engine. But in terms of equipment, Renault wins (take at least the air conditioner, which Greta does not have in the database).

The salon is more soundly made by the "Korean". The car inspires status and solidity. In Renault, everything looks "childish", in addition, it has a low roof. The appearance of the "Kaptur" is tempting - the car catches the eye of passers-by. At the same time, "Greta" remains a gray mouse in the stream.

Which car to choose: Hyundai Greta or Renault Kaptur? Judging by the main characteristics of the crossover (this is the trunk, interior space and accelerating dynamics), it is worth choosing a “Korean”. But the differences are so minimal that it’s simply impossible to make a mistake in choosing. Both cars are noteworthy.

The confrontation between Hyundai Creta and Renault Kaptur should become one of the most significant events on the Russian market. The more difficult it will be to determine the winner!

In 2016, for those who intended to buy a crossover, the question of choice was especially acute. After all, almost simultaneously (with a difference of 2.5 months) 2 bestsellers of the Russian market went on sale - Hyundai Creta and Renault Kaptur.

Ideologies, styles, approach to design and sales will clash in this confrontation. The French crossover entered the market earlier, and began its triumphal procession, winning customers. But with the start of sales of the Korean model, everything changed, as a significant part of the customers moved to its camp. The more interesting will be the confrontation between the two giants in their epic battle for the buyer. Therefore, the answer to the question of which is better - Hyundai Creta or Renault Kaptur - is more relevant than ever!

Who is the leader of this pair?

Kaptur is wider, longer and lighter

If we compare the dimensions of both models, it becomes clear that the French SUV is superior to its competitor in almost all respects. It is noticeably wider, longer, has a large ground clearance, surpasses the opponent in the wheelbase, it has less overhangs and weight. Creta replays him exclusively in height.

The table clearly shows the characteristics of the models:

Appearance of Kreta and Kaptur

Here, the designers of both companies went completely different ways. This makes it very difficult to pick a winner.

Hyundai Creta - the embodiment of the classics! Not surprisingly, for many, this crossover resembles its older brother, the Tucson, in miniature. In the work, the designers preferred a slightly angular image. The first thing that catches your eye is a huge radiator grille with horizontal lines, on the sides of which there are very original headlights, one edge reaching far onto the fenders. And an overlay at the bottom of the bumper, foglights and an air intake complete the image.

The front of the Creta would have done honor to a more expensive car!

From the side, branded rims and a plastic body kit encircling the car in a circle are immediately noticeable. The almost flat roof, the lower line of the side glazing, going up in the stern, and the almost parallel stamping on the doors and wings will not be left without attention. Behind the Creta is also not bad. Its fifth door is very massive and goes far down, which greatly facilitates loading by reducing the loading height. Large taillights, a spectacular rear wing and a 2-color bumper with nice reflectors fit perfectly into this ensemble.

The side and rear view only emphasizes the nobility of the model.

Renault Kaptur is completely different. In this case, the designers have adopted extravagance. In the front of the French crossover there are slightly rounded optics, a grille made in the shape of a “smile” with a chrome strip bordering it from below, a powerful air intake, a sloping hood, a light trim on the bottom of the bumper and original DRLs.

Kaptur looks much more interesting than an example.

On the side you can see puffy wings, smooth transitions without sharp breaks, the bottom of the doors, decorated in a different color, plastic “armor” around the entire perimeter of the body, and much more. But the 2-color body with a roof of black or white colors looks especially impressive. This design goes well with branded alloy wheels. Behind you can see small feet, a bumper with a glossy stripe, overlays and reflectors, and an even larger fifth door.

2-color body, casting, chrome - Kaptur sparkles with extravagance.

Specifications

It is they who will become the most important aspect in the question of what to choose - Cretu or Kaptur. Therefore, the item with technical data should be considered with particular predilection.

Creta's engines are more powerful than Kaptur's.

The working volume of the power units of both models is identical - 1.6 liters and 2.0 liters. The policy of the companies is also the same, because no one has diesel engines, as well as turbocharged ones - only atmospheric and only gasoline.

1.6 l

It would be reasonable to consider the basic modifications first. In addition to the same "cubic capacity", there are many similar technical solutions in the design of the units. For example, both engines are 4-cylinder, 16-valve. They have variable valve timing and a timing chain drive. In addition, on both motors it will be necessary to adjust the valves from time to time, since there are no hydraulic lifters. The performance characteristics of the engines are presented in the table:

Model

Hyundai Creta

Renault Captur

123/6300 114/5500
150/4850

Dynamics - up to 100 km / h (sec.)

12.1 12.5
Max speed (km/h) 169

Consumption in mixed mode

7.0

As you can see, the advantage of Creta over Kaptur is noticeable - 9 liters. sec., which provided the Korean package with better dynamics and lower fuel consumption. However, due to lower revs, when the peak of power and traction is reached, the French SUV was able to minimize the gap.

Hyundai Creta engine.

2.0 l

These motors also have a lot in common in terms of design. In particular, they have 4 cylinders and 16 valves each, and both are equipped with hydraulic lifters. On the other hand, Kaptur received a timing belt drive, while Creta retained the chain. On the part of Korean engineers, this was the right step, since the chain, unlike the belt, although it stretches over time, it never breaks.

The parameters of the motors are clearly shown in the table:

Model

Hyundai Creta

Renault Captur

Max power per rpm. (hp)

149.6/6200 143/5750
Max torque per rpm (Nm) 192/4200

Dynamics - up to 100 km / h (sec.)

10.7 10.5
Max speed (km/h) 183

Consumption in mixed mode

6.0

Here the characteristics are very similar. Creta is more powerful by 7 liters. s., but Kaptur wins 3 Nm of torque. Dynamic characteristics are almost the same - the superiority of the French in 0.2 seconds. in practice, just do not feel. But the advantage of the Korean SUV in efficiency is very noticeable - Crete's consumption is 2 liters less.

And this is a 2-liter Captura engine.

Gearboxes - Hyundai Creta "automatic" is much better

With regard to mechanical transmissions, parity has developed. Creta has only one manual transmission - a 6-speed. Kaptur has two of them - for 5 and 6 gears. Needless to say, the “handle” of the Korean crossover is noticeably superior to the 5-speed Frenchman both in gear ratios and in clarity of inclusion. But with 6-speed MT the situation is the same.

Crete has no problems with a manual gearbox.

But the most interesting thing is in the sector of "machines". Here Hyundai is the undisputed leader! The Korean SUV has the latest 6-band automatic transmission. It gets along well with both engines, although paired with a 2-liter, of course, it looks much more interesting. Switching is clear and timely, the reaction to the kick-down command is also - in a word, it remains to drive and rejoice!

And the Korean "machine" completely outplayed the French!

But the competitor lost this round outright. Kaptur is paired with a 2-liter engine with a 4-speed automatic transmission of the DP8 type. And even though it was improved, modernized and finalized, no tricks of the designers could compensate for the lack of 2 gears.

Of course, engineers could have supplied a more advanced transmission, fortunately, Renault has one. However, for this it would be necessary to rework the engine compartment and increase the price of the car, which marketers simply could not do. This lag is somewhat compensated for by the presence of a stepless variator such as CVT X-Tronic, but it is intended only for cars with 1.6-liter engines.

Kaptur's automatic transmission is not so hot, so hope for a "handle" and a variator.

Creta suspension - for asphalt. Captura - for primer

Structurally, there seems to be no difference between crossovers. MacPherson struts on the front axle and an independent circuit are guaranteed regardless of the configuration. The rear axle of the 1.6-liter versions is equipped only with a torsion beam. If you want a completely independent multi-link, you will have to buy a 2-liter modification.

On the pavement, Creta stands like a glove.

But the nature of the machine differ. On the pavement, Creta steers noticeably more interesting and sharper, although in the near-zero zone of information content, the steering wheel of the Korean SUV is still lacking. Banks are not as frightening as those of a competitor, although lower ground clearance also affects this. In addition, it is more convenient to brake on a Hyundai - directional stability is better, and the pedal itself is more transparent. Kaptur rides well in a straight line, but in turns it noticeably falls to one side, and at this time the steering wheel is hit.

But Renault does not give up on the highway, especially with cruise control.

But on the country road, the Frenchman wins back. Its clearance is noticeably greater (by 15 mm). In addition, the European already in the base is equipped with steel protection for the crankcase and fuel pipes, and in addition it can be equipped with metal armor for the tank and gearbox. All this guarantees solid protection. However, Cretu can also be equipped with protective sheets.

Outside the asphalt, Hyundai is inferior to Renault, but it goes pretty well!

Kaptur has longer suspension travel, which also helps on the dirt, especially in large pits. In a word, the B0 platform, which glorified Duster, appears in all its splendor. The Korean SUV can somewhat equalize positions due to an assistant when descending a mountain, a switchable traction control system and a stabilization system.

On Kaptur, you can safely climb into the mud!

This video briefly and clearly gives a comparison of cars after a test drive:

Salon of Crete and Captura

Like the exterior, the inner world of SUVs is fundamentally different. Finishing materials are about the same in quality, but thanks to the classic design and fine texture, they look richer and more presentable in Crete. The torpedo looks monolithic and solid, and elongated air vents with nice edging add entourage. The readability of the analog instrument panel with light scales on a black background is impeccable. Visibility is good, mirrors are especially pleasing.

The seats have extensive adjustments and a comfortable profile, and there is a full-fledged armrest between the front seats. The back is a little more spacious than in the rival's cabin, but the process of disembarking and landing is not as convenient. In general, there are no punctures in ergonomics, all the keys are in their places, and there will be no complaints about the assembly.

Salon Crete looks expensive and solid.

The interior design of Captura is the exact opposite. He has a massive dashboard that floats on passengers. Round air vents with glossy trim are placed on the sides, and the center console protrudes noticeably forward. The dashboard is made in a very original way, in a combination of a digital speedometer and an analog tachometer, as well as yellow and white calibration. Visibility is worse than in Crete due to smaller mirrors.

Particularly disappointing is the Captura armrest. It is available only in top trim levels and is designed only for the driver. Of course, its fixation in the back of the driver's seat provides an optimal location regardless of the seat settings, but still in Crete this moment is implemented much more successfully.

But the Renault's interior is also not bad.

But the Hyundai Creta trunk is better in all respects. It is larger (402/1396 liters versus 387/1200 liters), it has a lower loading height, since the clearance is lower and there is no threshold, and its finish is neater.

The base of Crete is cheaper, but poorer equipped

It is noticeable that when compiling complete sets, Korean marketers decided to achieve the lowest possible starting price. And they succeeded! The table shows the configuration and prices of crossovers:

Hyundai Creta

Renault Captur
Equipment Price, rub.) Equipment

Price, rub.)

749900 life 859000
Active 849900-899900 Drive
949900-1139900 style

As you can see, the price of the basic configuration of the Hyundai Creta Start is 110,000 rubles less than that of the Renault Kaptur Life. However, such savings were achieved due to very poor equipment. In this version, the crossover has almost nothing but a basic list of equipment. The owner will have to do without air conditioning, alloy wheels, heated seats, roof rails, radio and other things. He will also have to be content with manually adjusting the mirrors.

Even in the database, the Renault Kaptur interior is quite nice.

Kaptur is much more expensive, but it already has air conditioning, 16-inch alloy wheels, LEDs, electrically adjustable and heated mirrors, radio, starter button and more in the base. Therefore, the question remains open - either the basic equipment for Creta is too poor, or for Kaptur it is too rich.

As prices rise, the situation gradually levels off. Crossovers have climate control, side airbags, inflatable curtains and other options, without which a modern car is unthinkable. However, the lack of navigation and cruise control in the top version of Creta is puzzling.

In the top, the Hyundai Creta interior looks luxurious.

In addition, some of the options available in the maximum version of Captura - light sensor, leather steering wheel trim, heated windshield, rearview camera, 17-inch alloy wheels and something else - are available for Creta only as part of optional packages, for which you need pay extra:

  1. Winter package - 25,000 rubles;
  2. Advanced package - 50,000 rubles;
  3. Style package - 75,000 rubles.

The French SUV also has optional equipment, but its list is noticeably narrower.

In general, both crossovers are approximately equal. The main drawback of Renault Kaptur is the outdated “automatic”, which looks like bad manners in a car costing more than a million rubles. Crete also has flaws. First of all, this is the impossibility of purchasing a 2-liter version with a manual transmission (only with AT) and unbalanced configurations, since for a lot of equipment that is in the top version of Renault Kaptur, Hyundai Creta will have to pay extra by purchasing option packages.

Be that as it may, only time will put an end to the dispute over who is better - Hyundai Creta or Renault Kaptur.

In the videos below, journalists compared both models in different conditions and according to different parameters, including off-road driving in the rain.

Story from Clickoncar:

Video from Alexander Michelson:

Video from VsaykoRazno:

Among domestic motorists, the main latest innovations have recently been in the center of attention - these are Renault Kaptur, as well as Hyundai Greta. Designated cars, like the Ford Export and Lada X-Ray models, fill up a very popular segment of budget crossovers. Their most attractive feature is an acceptable cost, which is obtained due to the development of foreign industries in the territory of the Russian Federation. In this article, we will try to compare models and find out which is better.

Distinctive features in packages

If we compare, then both cars have a different initial cost, and it all depends on the fact that they are equipped differently in the basic configuration. Judging by the numerous reviews of the owners of the Hyundai Greta car, this model can quite boast of the presence of its own proprietary audio system, which has built-in bluetooth, USB, AUX, as well as power steering, steering wheel tilt adjustment, automatic windows on all windows, “stamps » at 16, on-board computer. In turn, the "Frenchman" Renault Kaptur in the basic configuration has the following:

  • Key card with remote control;
  • Security alarm;
  • Heated mirrors;
  • Anti-skid assistant;
  • 16-inch alloy wheels;
  • Air conditioning;
  • Steel protection of the engine.

Those people who want to compare and choose which is better Renault Kaptur SUV or Hyundai Greta initially pay attention to cost indicators. A crossover from Korea costs from 750 thousand rubles, and its competitor costs from 859 thousand rubles. The difference between the 1st model and the 2nd one is that it is more accessible. But making the final choice in favor of the Hyundai Greta, based only on price, is a mistake.

Cars in the initial versions have a pair of airbags. In the TOP configuration, Renault has 4 airbags, and Hyundai has 6 airbags. Based on the standard configurations of the models, the following conclusion can be drawn: Renault Kaptur looks more self-sufficient and rich than the Hyundai Greta, which attracts buyers with its financial availability.

Equipment of compared vehicles

  • Heated front seats;
  • Power mirrors;
  • Air conditioning;
  • luggage rack;
  • Central locking with remote navigation.

If we compare the currently popular cars presented now, we can understand that the “SUV” from South Korea in the middle price category is almost the same as the Renault Kaptur in the basic configuration. However, the "Frenchman" does not stand still, and for an amount of 920 thousand rubles for an average configuration, car owners receive the following additions:

  • Climate control;
  • Leather trim steering wheel;
  • Cruise control;
  • Remote engine start assistant;
  • Alloy wheels 17-inch wheels;

Trying to compare and find out which is actually better Renault Kaptur or the Korean car Hyundai Creta, based on average trim levels, it can be noted that again the French model has superiority. In the maximum configuration, the situation is almost the same. The Korean Hyundai Creta at a cost of 0.950-1.140 million rubles is equipped with a steering wheel adjustment for reach, light-alloy 16-inch wheels and parking sensors. The Renault Kaptur crossover, at a slightly higher price, is equipped with the following features that are not available for the Korean:

  • Light and rain sensors;
  • Navigation system;
  • Rear view camera;
  • Heated windshield;
  • Tinted rear windows.

As the numerous reviews from the owners of the Renault Kaptur model show, you need to remember the undeniable advantages of this car: roof stickers, a program for a wider individualization of the model's exterior in the form of a 2-color color, an orange color scheme as an option for some elements, as well as an interior in in the form of textile trim for orange seats, and the “leather interior” option.

The technical component of the models

Initially, it seems that in order to compare and understand the superiority of the model in terms of volume, you need to look at the dimensions. Such an opinion is erroneous. Although the “Frenchman” is 63mm longer and 33mm wider than its competitor, the “Korean” is much more spacious in the cabin. In terms of clearance, the Renault Kaptur leader is 204mm, while the Hyundai Crete has 190mm. These are their dimensions.

Both models have 2 power plants with a volume of 1.6 and 2.0. However, the power of the motors differ from each other. Renault has 114l/force and 143l/force, respectively, while Hyundai has 123l/force and 149l/force, respectively. The leader here is obvious.

It is impossible to talk about someone's superiority. Despite small differences in power, weak dynamics are characteristic of one and the other crossover. She's practically the same. 2.0 engines with automatic transmission accelerate from standstill in 11.2 / 11.3 seconds, respectively, to 100 km. With a 1.6 engine, there are differences:

  1. French 5-speed gearbox versus Korean 6-speed manual.
  2. A smart CVT against a 6-speed automatic transmission from Hyundai.

There are also features in 2-liter versions: Renault Kaptur is paired with a 4-speed automatic, and Hyundai Creta is equipped with a comfortable 6-speed gearbox. The front-wheel drive version of the South Korean car is cheaper, its cost starts from 750 thousand rubles to 1 million rubles. The cost of Renault is in the range of 860-970 thousand rubles. A version of the model with an all-wheel drive system costs 1.05 million rubles, and a Korean car with a 4WD transmission will cost buyers 1.14 million rubles.

Summing up

  1. The Korean car is the undisputed leader in the affordable crossover category. Prices are democratic, and start from 750 thousand rubles.
  2. The French model is much richer in equipment, plus it has different programs for individualizing a car for a driver.
    The Hyundai interior is much more spacious, but does not have such options as a rear-view camera and a navigation system;
  3. Renault has a larger size and high ground clearance, which allows it to drive safely over rough terrain;
  4. The technical side of compact crossovers is the same - these are 1.6 and 2.0 engines with weak dynamics, which work with mechanical and automatic transmissions, as well as a variator.
