Better Toyota Land Cruiser 200. Why Toyota Land Cruiser is so expensive. The model has earned itself a reputation that luxury cars can be surprisingly reliable and of high quality.

Lovers of huge ones, which are called SUVs, have a very difficult time. Among the wide range of various models presented in the salons, it is quite difficult to choose your optimal car. Most recently, a brand new Toyota Land Cruiser 200 appeared before the Russians in all its glory, which in a short time was able to gather its circle of admirers. It cannot be said that the novelty greatly pleased the Nissan concern, since at that time this automaker did not have a single model that could be on the same level as the Land Cruiser. The Nissan Infiniti QX 56 and Patrol Y61, previously developed by design engineers, could not surpass the comfortable car from Toyota. True, in a short time, a new Nissan Patrol appeared before potential consumers, the main advantage of which was the introduction of an independent suspension. In the article below, we will try to compare Nissan Patrol and Land Cruiser 200, choose the most comfortable, maneuverable and convenient car.

Comparison of specifications

Let's start right away with those properties that are identical for both vehicles. First of all, it is worth noting the power unit - both cars have a V8 engine type, drive type (4WD), fording depth (70 cm), front and rear disc brakes.

Nissan Patrol, in comparison with the Toyota Land Cruiser 200, has slightly superior performance in terms of displacement (5552 cm versus 4608), engine output (405/309), maximum torque, automatic transmission (7 gearboxes versus 6 gearboxes), ground clearance (275 / 225), acceleration to 100 km / h (6.6 / 8.6), speed (210/205), fuel tank capacity (100/93). True, no matter how good the Nissan Patrol is, the Toyota Land Cruiser surpasses it in fuel consumption. If the first absorbs 14.5 liters in the combined cycle, then the second - 13.6 liters.

"National" features of the TLC 200

Despite the fact that the majority of Russians confidently purchase medium-sized and nearest suburban roads (while female representatives are increasingly choosing maneuverable compact small cars), many people have a desire to “manage the dream” from the Toyota concern.

The object of this very desire is most often a presentable Land Cruiser 200 or, in extreme cases, RAV4. The developers of a stylish modern SUV are still proud of their invention, which is why they treat its design and exterior with love and awe, being afraid to spoil the idyll with new modifications.

There is some visible mysticism around the “200th” Land Cruiser, because, no matter how paradoxical it may sound, it is worth improving the model and equipping it with the best indicators of handling and comfort, independent suspension and other fashionable elements - that’s all, the car will immediately lose its status. True, the Toyota management team may not think about it at all, they managed to create a strong endurance car that is ready to go through almost any off-road. As the practice of recent years shows, Prado and HiLux, due to the huge cost, cannot become a worthy competitor to the Land Cruiser. The English Defender and the American Runner will also not be able to bypass the development of Toyota in the ranking of the best SUVs.

Features of the Nissan Patrol

The Nissan Patrol Y62, which has found a place in the hearts of many Russians, is based on the same base as the latest Infiniti QX 56. The Patrol was most likely created in order to compete with the LC 200, due to which it became longer and wide, with a larger wheelbase and ground clearance.

Nissan Patrol has an excellent monumental exterior that does not negatively affect the spacious interior. Regarding the free space inside the car, it is impossible to say which is better: Nissan Patrol or Land Cruiser, since the outwardly more compact Toyota is in no way inferior in convenience, according to experts, the interior space of two cars is conducive to squat dancing.

The seats of the Nissan Patrol, located in the second row, are slightly higher than the seats of the Land Cruiser. A full-fledged third row of seats folds comfortably without reducing luggage space, in turn, the seats in the TLC 200 move to the sides, making the trunk area a little smaller.

True, for an overnight stay that can make fishermen and hunters spend the night in, it is preferable to choose a Land Cruiser, where the retracted second row of seats leaves a more even floor than in the Patrol. Despite the fact that only a few boards are transported in these presentable expensive cars, for those who want to take skis with them, it is more convenient to get them from the Land Cruiser, equipped with a hinged tailgate, the lower compartment of which can be smoothly lowered.

Regardless of which model the car owner prefers: Nissan Patrol or Land Cruiser 100, the owner will have at his disposal a car equipped with a spacious refrigerator, which will be located between the front seats. Nissan Patrol has one additional feature - its refrigerator is equipped with a bi-directional lid, which can be easily opened by passengers even in the second row of seats.

The updated version of the Land Cruiser is not inferior to its rival in newfangled “chips”, now its owner can enjoy the ventilation of the front seats, a heated steering wheel and four-zone climate control. It is noteworthy that passengers traveling in the second row can independently control the climate control unit, setting the parameters in a way that is more convenient for them. In turn, the Nissan Patrol outperforms the Cruiser in terms of adaptive cruise control and headrest-mounted monitors.

Not knowing what to choose, a motorist can buy a Nissan Patrol or a Land Cruiser with his eyes closed, any of the selected models will be able to please with newfangled modern filling elements. True, those who are accustomed to conservatism are better off choosing the TLC 200, as its design, against the backdrop of more frilly curves and massive wood trim that fills the "Patrol", makes the Land Cruiser more cozy and comfortable.

Technical capabilities of devices

Gasoline powertrains, which are equipped with Nissan Patrol and Land Cruiser, open up many opportunities for the owner. For lovers of speed and huge returns, it is preferable to choose the Patrol engine, an eight-cylinder V-shaped engine with a volume of 5.6 liters with a return of 405 hp. with. allows you to accelerate from zero speed to 100 in just 6.6 seconds, which puts this car on a par with modern sports cars. As for the power unit from Toyota, everything is a little simpler here, the engine capacity is almost a liter less, and the return is one hundred “horses” weaker. This affected the acceleration speed to 100 km / h, increasing it to 8.6 s.

Subjectively considering the dynamic characteristics of both cars, we can confidently answer that Nissan Patrol, Land Cruiser, in turn, is better. As practice shows, the Patrol engine roaring all over the district requires regular power supply in the form of 25–30 liters of fuel (city driving).

Both cars are equipped exclusively with automatic transmissions with manual mode, while the Patrol has a seven-speed unit, the Land Cruiser boasts only a 6-speed gearbox. Despite the presence of all seven stages, the Patrol is characterized by a slight delay during the start, and all shifts are slightly less hidden from the user. As for the Land Cruiser, the automatic transmission slows the car down a bit during the start of the movement, sharp braking is not typical for the car. And in general, despite the fact that the Land Cruiser braking system is an order of magnitude better than the one that the Nissan Patrol has, both cars lean forward with a sharp “stupor”, and the latter, in addition to everything else, goes to the side.

A huge plus of the Nissan Patrol, according to many motorists, is an independent suspension, however, in practice, driving these cars is equally difficult, not even considering the fact that both cars allow the owner to simply forget about all the bumps and bumps in the road surface. The steering device of the Land Cruiser makes you not think about vibrations, its feedback is somewhat better, the directional stability is “collected”, but all these advantages cover the lateral rolls, which are more than those of the Patrol. While driving the Nissan Patrol, its restraint immediately catches the eye, sharp turns are devoid of strong drifts of the rear axle and rolls. The ESP installed in the Land Cruiser 200 is also worthy of attention, although those who are not afraid of tangible rolls will like it more.

Cross-country ability of SUVs

If you put a Nissan Patrol against a Land Cruiser 200, and take both cars to Saudi Arabia or the United Arab Emirates, where everything is covered in sand, you can pick out a clear favorite within the first ten minutes. Nissan Patrol will be able to surpass the Land Cruiser 200, since in such a situation, traction and recoil of the power unit should be put in the first place. However, most Russians will not test these cars in the sand, Russian realities are mud, snow-covered ruts and swampy terrain, but despite this, Patrol, among other off-road programs, does not have a “dirt” section.

Multifunctional device systems

Comparing the Nissan Patrol and the Land Cruiser 200 is easy enough, especially when it comes to different off-road systems. The fact is that, despite the versatility of the properties that allow the Land Cruiser to go through any off-road, its functionality that controls the system is located in separate parts of the panel, which greatly aggravates the ability to quickly switch the necessary buttons, especially if the Land Cruiser owner rarely goes off-road. In contrast, the Nissan Patrol car has a two-stage washer that is responsible for absolutely all available Off-Road systems.

It is 275 mm, while the Land Cruiser has 200-225 mm (which is enough for him). In practice, the Cruiser is better able to overcome road breaks than Nissan, which is ready to lie on its “belly” on every pothole, however, despite the proximity of the bottom to the surface, the Patrol owner, even with a strong desire, will not be able to damage his car, since the elements are securely hidden and located on order above the frame. True, even such huge SUVs, to which everything seems simple and affordable, can get into a very unpleasant situation - both cars are able to “hang” in soft ground. If a person is driving any of the compared units for the first time, he can drive a car up to his very “ears” in a few minutes, sitting on his belly, it will be very difficult to get a car, since additional help from some powerful tractor will be needed.

Little technical tricks

Usually, people who buy a Toyota LC 200 or Nissan Patrol practice it not only off-road, but also within the city, and therefore we can conclude that these titans are comfortable, which life has brought into narrow city lanes. The fact is that Patrol has a very useful function that allows the owner of the vehicle to see on the monitor of the on-board computer a “view of the street from above”, using the built-in functionality, a picture can appear on the screen in which images from four cameras are collected. This property helps a large car not to touch the nearest cars and park carefully.

Comparing the Land Cruiser 200 with the Nissan Patrol in terms of comfort will give the latter extra points, as the Patrol is equipped with many useful features, in particular adaptive cruise control, a double-sided refrigerator cover and monitors built into the headrests. The Toyota LC 200 tries to stand up to the competition by wooing consumers with four-zone climate control, even adjustable for middle-row passengers and heated seats. In total, comparing all the facts, we can say with confidence that the Land Cruiser is a little softer and quieter.

This article will discuss the comparison of SUVs of the Japanese company Toyota. Thus, it will be necessary to answer the question, which is better: Land Cruiser Prado 150 or Land Cruiser 200?

Appearance - Prado or Land Cruiser?

In 2009, a finished version of the Prado 150 SUV was presented at an exhibition in China. Then, for seven years, at factories in Japan, it was refined, modified, polished. In 2013, a modern, restyled version was introduced. Body length is 4760 mm, width - 1885.

As for the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 SUV, its brutal design is actually a legacy of the 100 version, which successfully debuted in 1997. The model turned out to be reliable, with high cross-country ability, with good driving performance for this size of SUVs, it is not surprising that it was actively sold all over the world and brought a decent income to Toyota. And it was decided to develop success with the 200 model, which debuted in 2007. Four years later, the first, light restyling followed, and in 2015, the current restyled version saw the light of day with an unusual compilation of the radiator grille and headlights. The body length of the "200th" is 4760 mm, width - 1970 mm.

Salon - Land Cruiser Prado or Land Cruiser 200?

The interior space of the Land Cruiser Prado 150 retains family features, while at the same time changes are constantly being made in connection with modern trends. Because of what, the layout of the organs on the front panel was even re-arranged. Where the puck of the new Multi-Terrain Select adaptation system catches the eye. The seats are quite simple and only moderately comfortable.

The main emphasis that Toyota engineers tried to bring to the Land Cruiser 200 car is that it looks expensive and graceful both externally and internally. This finds expression in eye-pleasing neon interior lighting, as well as in the use of regular geometric shapes to refine the front panel. After restyling in 2015, ergonomics and build quality have significantly improved, a new generation of modern multimedia system has appeared, the seats have become a little more comfortable, but still not the best in terms of comfort. You can recall that the conversion of seats "under Mercedes" is in good demand, which is what we are talking about, and many Russian Toyota dealers began to actively promote this direction.

Land Cruiser 200 can track road markings, automatically switch from high beam to low beam and back, since 2015 added - driver fatigue control, traffic sign recognition, active cruise control, frontal collision warning system with automatic braking.

Trunk volume Prado or Land Cruiser

Luggage compartment Land Cruiser Prado 150 in 5-seater version

The boot capacity of the compared cars is also different. So, the Land Cruiser Prado 150 can be purchased with a luggage compartment volume that varies from 600 to 1900 liters in a five-seater version. And if we are talking about an SUV, where 7 people can fit at the same time, then the range of volumes is from 100 to 1800 liters.

Luggage compartment Land Cruiser 200 in 5-seater version

The Land Cruiser 200 has a trunk volume declared by the manufacturer of 259 liters in the seven-seat version, 700 liters in the five-seat version and 1431 liters with the middle and rear rows of seats folded down.

Engine – Test drive Land Cruiser

In Russia, the Land Cruiser Prado 150 is sold with 3 engine options:

The best dynamic qualities are expectedly demonstrated by a 4-liter gasoline engine. For example, acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h takes him 8.8 seconds - 5 seconds faster than with a 2.7-liter engine, but it is also the most voracious. In terms of speed characteristics, the 2.8-liter turbodiesel only slightly outperforms the 2.7-liter gasoline relatives, despite slightly more power and significantly higher torque, besides, it is much noisier. But with him, "Prado" is much better off-road, which is quite important for this model.

As for the transmission, for buyers of the Land Cruiser 150 from Russia, a 5-speed manual transmission is only possible in combination with the base 2.7-liter gasoline engine, it can also be aggregated with a 6-speed automatic, which is standard for all other options. .

Excellent cross-country ability on the road is provided by the following set: a steel spar frame, a solid rear axle, permanent all-wheel drive with a reduction range and locks of the center and rear axle differentials, plus a new Multi-Terrain Select system for adapting to various driving conditions and Crawl Control off-road cruise control and others

When compared with the Prado, the higher-class Dvuhsotka has fewer options in terms of options, but the engines themselves are only V8 and naturally more powerful.

  1. Gasoline unit 1UR-FE with a volume of 4.6 liters and a power of 309 hp. at 5500 rpm, torque 439 Nm at 3400 rpm
  2. Diesel turbo engine 1VD-FTV with a volume of 4.5 liters and a power of 249 hp. at 2800-3600 rpm, torque 650 Nm at 1600-2600 rpm

It is worth noting that with a gasoline engine, the Land Cruiser 200 is more interesting in terms of running parameters and in combination with an automatic transmission, but a diesel engine is noticeably more high-torque and more economical. By the way, the main fuel tank has a volume of 93 liters, and for a surcharge, you can install an additional 45 liters to it. The gearbox is exclusively a 6-speed automatic.

Four-wheel drive on the Land Cruiser 200 with a Torsen center differential integrated into the transfer case, it splits the moment in a ratio of 40:60 to 50:50 - if necessary. There is also a Multi-Terrain Select system for adapting to various driving conditions and Crawl Control off-road cruise control, in addition to a forced center lock, a demultiplier, but a rear differential lock is not provided even for a surcharge.

Prices – Test drive Cruiser Prado

The cost of various models of Land Cruiser cars directly depends on the chosen configuration, as well as the package of additional options. At the moment, the base Land Cruiser 150 Classic with a 2.7-liter gasoline engine and a manual transmission can be purchased at dealerships at a price of 1 million 939 thousand rubles. The version with the "automatic" is also available in the more expensive Standard configuration, and costs from 2 million 614 thousand rubles. The cost range of basic options for 4-liter Prado is from 3 million 156 thousand rubles to 3 million 848 thousand rubles. Turbodiesel cars are in the range - from 2 million 915 thousand rubles to 3 million 601 thousand rubles (excluding additional options).

What will be the difference between the top-end Lux equipment and the basic Classic: Starting the engine with a button (key card), Leather interior, Power front seats with storing parameters at the driver's seat, Climate control (and not just air conditioning), Sunroof, Rear view camera, Blind Spot Monitor, OEM premium audio system with CD and MP3 support, OEM navigation system, Cruise control (passive), OEM parking sensors, Heated mirrors, Heated seats and steering wheel, Xenon headlights, Light and rain sensors, Folding rear Seat, Phone preparation (hands free / bluetooth), Adjustable ground clearance, Rear differential lock, Hill start assist, Hill descent assist, Turn Assist Select, Tire pressure sensor, Alloy wheels, etc.

You can now buy a gasoline Land Cruiser 200 in the base price range from 3 million 983 thousand rubles to 5 million 234 thousand rubles, diesel - from 4 million 126 thousand rubles to 5 million 365 thousand rubles.

What will be the difference between the top-end Executive package and the base Comfort: Leather interior, Power front seats with memory settings for the driver's seat, Seat ventilation, Sunroof, Rear view camera, OEM premium audio system with CD and MP3 support, OEM navigation system, Adaptive cruise control (instead of passive), Heated mirrors, Heated seats, Fog lights, Blind spot monitoring system, Power trunk, Preparation for the phone (hands free / bluetooth), Adjustable ground clearance.

Both the Toyota Land Cruiser, the 200 and the Prado 150, are distinct off-road vehicles - not very good on pavement (compared to newfangled crossovers), but excellent on broken roads and off-road. In addition, both are distinguished by excellent reliability. The Prado is smaller, much livelier in performance and much more affordable. But "Dvuhsotka" takes higher comfort and status. Both models are highly liquid in the secondary market. And what is better to choose from this pair - decide for yourself, I hope my little comparison of a number of parameters turned out to be at least a little useful. Successful purchases!

The Japanese car manufacturer Toyota has built a perfect reputation. SUVs of this company are considered one of the best, with the Land Cruiser 200 and Prado 150 being especially popular. Many motorists are trying to understand which car still deserves the most attention and what advantages each of the competitors has.

A Brief History of Toyota's Classic Cruiser Prado

The first generation Toyota Prado was introduced back in 1987. It was then that the story of one of the best SUVs available to Russians began. Among motorists, the 90, 120 and 150 models won the same popularity. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages. However, the 150th model is considered the most serious competitor for the Toyota Land Cruiser 200, so many motorists are interested in what is better than the Land Cruiser 200 or Prado. Reliably answering the existing question is not so simple, because both SUVs confirm the reputation of the Japanese manufacturer Toyota. Despite this situation, the choice is still possible and even necessary to make.

What you need to know about the Prado 150

The 150th model appeared only in 2010. For seven years, the SUV has managed to win some fame among motorists who appreciate the characteristic features of the car.

The SUV pleases with the presence of good units, each of which is designed for a certain circle of motorists:

  • gasoline 2.7-liter 163-horsepower;
  • 4-liter 282-horsepower gasoline;
  • 3-liter 173-horsepower turbodiesel.

You can guess that the dynamics is still available to motorists. In fact, not only this aspect contributes to the successful attraction of the attention of the target audience.

The main benefits boil down to the following:

  • solid appearance;
  • perfect build quality of the vehicle and guaranteed structural strength;
  • spacious and comfortable interior, ideal even for long trips;
  • dimensional trunk with a socket;
  • all-round parking sensors and a convenient rear-view camera to facilitate travel;
  • adaptive head optics and xenon, guaranteeing optimal light output under any conditions.

However, the Prado 150 has certain disadvantages:

  • a very thin paint layer on the body leads to the fact that scratches appear even after touching the branches;
  • uncomfortable and hard driver's seat;
  • rigid suspension;
  • off-road performance does not meet the expectations of motorists in every case.

It should be noted that the Prado 150 has enough controversy, despite its high level of popularity. As a result, many motorists have a sincere desire to compare the Land Cruiser 200 and Prado 150 in order to understand which SUV deserves the highest level of popularity.

Features Toyota Land Cruiser 200

The Toyota Land Cruiser 200 is an all-wheel drive SUV based on the Lexus LX570. The history of this model started back in 1951, and the popularity of the car is still quite high. The SUV is designed for 5 or 7 people, so you can make a decent choice based on your personal preferences.

The 200th model, compared to the previous 100th, surprises with its high level of comfort and spectacular design. It is not surprising that the Land Cruiser 200 has managed to gain a high level of popularity among its admirers.

Important! The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado was created on frame body structures, which give a high level of reliability. It should be noted that the 200th model has increased body rigidity and cannot please with optimal geometry, as a result of which off-road performance has deteriorated slightly. At the same time, the innovative KDSS system, which gives decent hardness to the stabilizers, contributes to the successful handling of the car on the road. The Land Cruiser 200 pleases with the almost complete absence of rolls, despite its impressive weight.

The car salon surprises with a high level of comfort that becomes available to every passenger. The only caveat is that the third row of seats is only comfortable for children. When choosing the Land Cruiser 200, one cannot fail to note the exquisite design and use of high-quality finishes. Despite the unattainability of a fashionable interior design, comfort is still noted.

Motorists can choose between a 4.4-liter 235-horsepower diesel or a 4.6-liter 309-horsepower petrol unit. Both motors are successfully combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Such equipment contributes to significant fuel consumption, but at the same time pleases with a high level of reliability.

Which is better to choose: Prado 150 or Land Cruiser 200

The Japanese manufacturer Toyota offers two worthy SUVs that are competitors for each other: Prado 150, Land Cruiser 200. Which option should you choose if you want to enjoy the perfect car even off-road?

Exterior

The Prado 150 is a model that is an attempt at polishing its predecessor.

The Land Cruiser 200 SUV, in turn, received a brutal design from the 100th model that was produced before it. In fact, the Prado 150 is more of a controversy, despite the endless attempts to improve the design. The Land Cruiser 200 is in line with modern trends, with only minimal changes being made to the exterior while maintaining the principles.

Interior

Another thing is the interior of Japanese SUVs. The Land Cruiser Prado 150 strives to keep the family traits with regular changes based on current trends. They try to make the Land Cruiser 200 expensive and graceful, but expensive finishing materials are not used.

The Land Cruiser Prado attracts with the following positive sides:

  • neon lighting, pleasing to the eye;
  • geometric shapes that contribute to the refinement of the front panel;
  • decent implementation of ergonomics;
  • comfortable chairs, which still remain not the best in terms of comfort;
  • presence of multimedia.

In any case, with each new modification, both SUVs are getting better. This confirms the introduction of the Land Cruiser 200 with a number of modern systems that contribute to the full enjoyment of trips:

  • system for tracking road markings;
  • equipment for automatic switching of high - low beam;
  • driver fatigue control;
  • traffic sign recognition system;
  • active cruise control;
  • front collision warning system.

Comfort is guaranteed for every motorist and passenger.

Luggage compartment volume

Competitors have a different trunk volume. At Prado, the indicator is 600-1900 liters in a 5-seater version, 100-1800 liters in a 7-seater.

The Land Cruiser 200 has 259 liters available in the 7-seater modification, 700 or 1431 liters in the 5-seater modification, depending on the folding of the middle and rear row of seats.

When choosing a car for a larger number of passengers, you still need to sacrifice the volume of the luggage compartment.

Technical equipment

The Land Cruiser 150 goes well off-road with a 2.8-liter turbodiesel that is notable for its increased noise level. A 6-band automatic transmission is offered for the diesel unit, which pleases with good technical data. A 5-speed manual transmission is offered to the initial 2.7-liter gasoline engine. At the same time, the best parameters are demonstrated by a 4-liter gasoline engine.

Attention! The 200th model has a smaller selection of units, but each of them pleasantly surprises with its power. As a result, the technical equipment is still more interesting.

Trying to understand what is better to choose, Prado 150 or Land Cruiser 200, you need to understand the performance features of each Japanese SUV. Only a thorough study of the advantages of both models and a clear understanding of your needs will allow you to make a worthy choice.

Cars like the new Toyota Land Cruiser 200 (aka LC 200) will always be a mixed bag for people. Looking at such a car, someone will say that these are just "show-offs" that are easy to replace with the same UAZ Patriot and, as a result, save a huge amount of money. The difference of several million is not clear to everyone. And those who still understand it will surely say that “show-offs” didn’t pass by here, because first of all, the “two hundredth” is needed for serious off-road conquest: where he manages to pass, not everyone will pass. Despite the update of 2016, which became the largest modernization for Kruzak since 2007, the well-proven spar frame is still with him. The update made the SUV even more attractive, confident and uncompromising, and at the same time the model has not lost its main advantages, for which we can only applaud the engineers and designers of Toyota. The Japanese know how to make SUVs - expensive, true, but nonetheless. All the details about one of the coolest Japanese "rogues" named Land Cruiser 200 2016 - in our review!

Design

The good sales and reputation of the LC 200 speaks volumes to the fact that it is based on a very successful concept. And if it’s successful, then why reinvent the wheel, Toyota thought, and decided to simply tweak the model’s appearance, rather than make drastic changes. "Kruzak" is still recognizable and looks equally great both in the big city and in the taiga immersed in snow.

From its predecessor, the new version is distinguished by a massive chrome grille with three horizontal bars and large headlights on the sides. Innovations also include other fog optics and a powerful embossed hood, which gives the car a very masculine and somewhat aggressive look. The rest of the exterior details are not affected. The 200th, as before, has a fairly large and emphatically laconic “stern”, visually divided into two parts due to a horizontal chrome strip with the Land Cruiser inscription. Wide informative mirrors and large light-alloy wheels with a beautiful design are visible on the side.

Design

The body of the new LC 200, like the pre-reform version, rests on a spar frame familiar to Toyota fans. The design of the Russian version of the Kruzak has not changed much: except that the KDSS system that suppresses rolls has been slightly reconfigured. The diameter of the front brake discs has grown from 340 to 354 mm, the control hydraulics have been completely reconfigured. The manufacturer claims that there is an improvement in feedback on the brake pedal and the actual intensity of deceleration. All-wheel drive transmission, as before, is implemented through a Torsen center differential built into the transfer case. This differential usually splits the torque in a 40:60 ratio, but is capable of distributing it in a 50:50 ratio. The forced blocking and the demultiplier, whose gear ratio is 2.618, remained unchanged.

Adaptation to Russian conditions

If there are ideal or near-perfect cars in the world for the roads of our country, then the 2016 LC 200 is definitely one of them. Firstly, permanent all-wheel drive, an impressive 230 mm ground clearance, the Multi Terrain Select (MTS) driving mode selection system and a number of auxiliary electronic assistants allow it to confidently enter the harsh Russian off-road. Secondly, it has an indestructible gasoline 309-horsepower “eight” in combination with an automatic transmission and a diesel unit that has retained a tax-friendly power range, which is very important in Russian realities. Finally, the "200" boasts a rich winter package that includes heating of all seats, steering wheel, exterior mirrors, windshield and windshield washer jets, as well as an additional interior electric heater. With such a car in the cold you will not get lost, that's for sure.

Comfort

In Russia, the Land Cruiser 200 2016 is offered with a 5- or 7-seater saloon, in which both the front and rear seats have a heating function, and the driver's seat "remembers" the settings in any configuration, except for the basic one. The profile of the seats on the first row is almost perfect, but it would not hurt to lengthen the pillows. Inside the car as a whole is spacious and there is enough legroom. Particular space is observed in the rear of the cabin, where, by the way, the most expensive versions have a separate climate control for 2 zones. Interior trim materials are the same as its predecessor, and ergonomics are clearly better. As for the design, it seems that the developers of Kruzak could not decide what their creation should be - a purely practical car, where there is no place for unnecessary frills, or a truly prestigious model.

The front panel has definitely become more ergonomic, but retaining its slightly “old school” design. It is possible that Toyota is in no hurry to change anything, since most of the "status" owners of the LC 200, in principle, are satisfied with everything. However, why be surprised? It's not about the Prius. The steering wheel of the "two hundredth" was comfortable, so it remained comfortable, and its heating zones are still too small. The dashboard is nice, but there is a problem with readability - radial digitization with small spaces between numbers prevents the speedometer from “reading” normally. The soundproofing of an SUV, alas, cannot be called luxurious. The main cause of noise is the diesel engine. It will not lay ears from him, but annoying sounds from under the hood are always clearly audible. It would not be superfluous to work on the soundproofing of the front doors, so as not to listen to the roar of the engine of the car next to it.

The 2016 LC 200 has been redesigned to be even safer with an expanded suite of Toyota Safety Sense smart assistants. From now on, these include systems of circular video review and tire pressure, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and auto-switching from high beam to low beam. In other words, everything that is almost a mandatory attribute of prestigious cars. In addition to the Toyota Safety Sense electronic assistants, there are curtains, front, side and knee airbags, as well as off-road assistance systems - for example, an assistant when climbing / descending a mountain or a Multi Terrain Select driving mode selector.

The Land Cruiser 200 2016 infotainment complex is quite well located and pleases with solid dimensions. Touch screen diagonal - up to 9 inches. With the functionality and responsiveness of the "multimedia" everything is in order, but the graphics need to be improved. Considering Kruzak's not unfounded claims to luxury, the graphics are of insufficient quality and elegant. Not spoiled drivers can forgive this shortcoming, but what will they say about the not very clear image from the 360-degree video cameras? Apparently, the Japanese manufacturer has something to think about.

Toyota Land Cruiser 200 Specifications

The engine range of the updated LC 200 includes the familiar V-shaped "eight" with direct injection - gasoline and diesel. Gasoline unit with a volume of 4.6 liters. develops 309 hp at 5500 rpm and 439 Nm at 3400 rpm, prefers fuel with an octane rating of at least 95 and consumes an average of 13.9 l / 100 km. The 4.5-litre twin-turbo diesel is also very punchy, with 249 hp. at 2800-3600 rpm (14 hp more than before) and as much as 650 Nm at 1600-2600 rpm, consumes about 10.2 l / 100 km in the combined cycle and now meets the Euro-5 eco-standard . Both engines are combined with permanent all-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission. Regardless of the modification, acceleration to 100 km / h occurs in just 8.6 seconds, which is an excellent indicator given the large mass of the SUV.

What is the difference between a diesel Land Cruiser 200 and a gasoline one, how not to doze off while driving both versions, and something about a very important button. Before you take the new Land Cruiser 200 on an extreme journey to the mountains or on the shell roofs of your own yard, be sure to use the RSCA OFF button.

It disables the side curtain airbags and seat belt pretensioners. The instructions say to press it when your ride could end in a flip. It's just better to buy a second LC 200 right away, because after using this button, the first one is unlikely to be recoverable. And if it survives, then you still want to check whether the “two hundredth” ford overcomes the declared 700 mm deep? This applies to both petrol and diesel versions, but we will start our comparison test with the latter.

WHY IS HE RUMBLING?
You will immediately recognize the diesel Land Cruiser 200 by the tractor sound, disgusting brakes and sluggish acceleration, almost ending immediately after 140 km / h. Why is he so rattled? I have not heard such a wild rumble from under the hood since the days of in-line six-cylinder diesel engines on the old "hundredths". The Discovery TDV6 rumbles about the same way when, after driving, the Finnish diesel fuel in its tank ends and our liquid is poured.

I accelerated and, when a line of cars loomed ahead, stuck in front of the speed bump, I began to slow down, leaving in front of me, as it seemed to me, enough room for maneuver. Phew! What mistake! The red Peugeot 207, which had previously been tangled underfoot, having seen my rapid approach in the rear-view mirror, quickly got out of its stupor and slipped through the "lying" course. With a snort of surprise (why do Japanese cars slow down like American ones?), I stopped to catch my breath and tweak the seat settings at the same time.

The back of the seat, or rather, its electric adjustment, was broken. This could not happen with a Toyota car, especially with a new one ... Just now I was pushing the brake pedal, with all my weight resting just on the back of the seat, which means that others before me were also squirming. What servo can handle that?

Trying not to disturb the brake pedal, I drove onto the Novorizhskaya highway, and up to a speed of 110-120 km / h everything looked ordinary. The next overtaking demanded to raise the speedometer needle to 130-140 km / h, and suddenly the speed dropped from 3500 to 3000, the next gear was switched on. Thrust disappeared in the middle of the maneuver. Further overtaking took place using the manual mode of the automatic transmission. It just didn't help much. This diesel runs briskly only on the bottoms, with such a character it is good in the city and on the ground, and not on the highway.

DO NOT SLEEP!
Ahead of us was the Zvenigorod quarry. For insurance, we enlisted the support of the Land Rover Defender 110 in order to pull the “200th” out of the off-road trap at the right time. Confidence in the future did not leave us while we plowed the ravines, evaluating the capabilities of the Toyota LC 200, and then the Defender sat down in the gully.

The shot of the 200th pulling out the 110th with a cable would look good on the wall in the Moscow representative office of Toyota, but we won’t give them this photo for anything. We'll hang it in the editorial office.

How insanely boring Toyota is next to all other SUVs! She just goes down the road, then she goes over to the snow, then she goes up the hill ... etc. I would put a huge blinking sign with a buzzer in it: "DO NOT SLEEP!" Because after ten minutes of being behind the wheel of the "two hundred" the driver easily starts up the snorer. I was already yawning in five minutes. She is too correct - and no emotions.

Struggling with sleep, we continued the test on snow and ice. "Toyota" diesel engine, issuing 615 Nm of torque in the range of 1800-2200 rpm, drove the car through the snow with both the traction control on and off. An active stabilizer helped to passability and comfortable movement over rough terrain. It maximized the articulation of the axles while keeping the wheels in contact with the road at all times. The diesel LC 200 was embarrassed only by an icy rise of about 30 degrees of commercials. However, with a good acceleration, this height also succumbed.

As a result, having received the maximum number of off-road points and the most modest mark for driving on the highway, the “two hundredth” was sent to the garage of the Toyota dealership. And we, tearing our eyelids stuck together and desperately struggling with elephantine yawns, went for a bucket of eleutherococcus.

Crawl FASTER
The next day I was already driving a petrol Land Cruiser 200 to compare both versions in hot pursuit. And the difference between them is not only in the motors. The petrol LC 200, unlike the diesel one, is equipped with crawl control. The off-road speed control system has three modes: 1 km/h, 3 km/h and 5 km/h. At the same time, crawl control also includes an electronic assistant when descending a mountain.

Is it really that simple? Turned the lever and you go without touching the pedals? Engaging the slowest mode of 1 km/h, I moved through the icy drops, trying to look relaxed. However, this failed, because the soft, comfortable Land Cruiser vibrated strongly under the chirp of the brake pads. Then I had to switch to the 3 km / h mode, our off-road is not so extreme. But even more suitable for civilian purposes was the fastest “creeping control” mode - 5 km / h. It is most likely the main one for owners of petrol versions of the Land Cruiser 200.

Off-road cruise control allows you to focus only on maneuvering, without being distracted by manipulating the gas pedal, and this alone saves a lot of mental and physical energy of the driver, who is trying with all his might not to damage the bumpers and sides of the car, the queue for which is longer than for benefits in the Social Security .

But in a dispute with the diesel version off-road, the gasoline one still seemed worse, despite the fashionable crawl control. The diesel easily climbs the drops and pulls more confidently in long climbs, and, most importantly, for this you don’t need to be distracted by the crawl control toggle switches and calculate the speed you need at the moment. A high-torque diesel will pull it out anyway.

FEAR "KAMAZ"
According to passport data, acceleration to a hundred for the diesel version (eight cylinders and 4.5 liters) is 8.6 s, and for the gasoline version (eight cylinders and 4.7 liters) - 9.2 s. Driving around the roads near Moscow on a diesel engine, I could not accelerate to 180 km / h, but on a gasoline one I did it easily and without any effort. In the sprint up to a hundred kilometers per hour, diesel is the first, but then it is clearly not. After 3200 rpm, the diesel does not pull, and the gasoline engine just wakes up. Hence the conclusion: the diesel version is not universal, but the equipment with a gasoline engine and a crawl control system is quite.

It's a pity. Diesel eats almost half as much fuel as gasoline, and is great off-road. But 90% of our suburban roads are two-lane dark polygons for half-dead KAMAZ trucks, and the topic of extreme overtaking is too relevant to be ignored.

FOUR WITH A PLUS
The Land Cruiser is a calm family car, averaged in all respects from birth. Not only for acceleration, but also for suspension. It seems that rolls in corners and longitudinal buildup are clearly present, but they do not interfere with driving. The smoothness of the ride is combined with a remarkable energy intensity, in which no speed bumps are scary. The directional stability is far from the best in the class, the steering wheel is too indulgent to the weak and dystrophic office rats.

Some call it "cruiser", others "cruiser". There is an option - "cruiser". Yakut policemen say "krauser". Now there is a gloomy nickname "two hundred". In any case, it is noticeably worse than the Range Rover and better than the Nissan Pathfinder Armada. He has a B with a plus in all subjects, and therefore he is extremely boring. So it was and so it will be if, having had enough of the ordinary, you do not get to the RSCA OFF button. Since you will do it anyway, I remind you that the TLC 200 on the passport overcomes a 100 percent rise (45 degrees), but the approach angle is 32 degrees, so after such a rise the front bumper will have to be disposed of. But one of your Toyotas is going to be thrown away anyway...
