A dump truck based on the GAZ-3309 car is considered a classic domestic truck. Despite many years of production, the technique has remained not only popular, but also relevant. Today, the production of the car continues. Completely new machines are coming out of the facilities of the Gorky Plant, suitable for use in the vast expanses of Russia.

GAZ-3309: history

The first GAZ-3309 was released in 1994. By the standards of the Russian automotive industry, the car is quite new. It replaced the outdated GAZ-3307 models and GAZ-53 dump trucks. The fourth generation of GAZ trucks received a new cab and new engines. The first models of medium-duty vehicles were equipped with four-cylinder four-stroke turbocharged diesel units. The maximum power of the base engine was 116 hp, and the working volume reached 4.15 liters.

Time passed, and the plant mastered the production of an updated version of the GAZ-3309 with a new engine. The six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine already produced 150 hp. power. Three years after the release of the first GAZ-3309 car, they were recognized as economically untenable for production. The plant stopped producing cars.

A new birth for domestic medium-tonnage dump trucks was given by the engines of the Minsk Motor Plant, which the Russian manufacturer began to purchase in Belarus. D-245.7 diesel units were installed on the updated GAZ-3309. The manufacturer decided not to stop there. Observing the increasing demand for the GAZ-3309, in 2006 the Gorky Plant began to equip its equipment with Euro-2 environmental class engines.

By 2008, the engines already met Euro-3 environmental standards. Today, cars can be equipped with a fuel preheater, which will allow cars to be operated in regions with low average annual temperatures.

New motor

It is known that the technical data of the car mainly depend on the engine. On models of 2008 and subsequent years, the Minsk motor D-245.7 is used. This is a four-stroke diesel engine with an in-line arrangement of four cylinders. A liquid system is used to cool the unit. Turbocharging, which increases engine performance, is equipped with a charge air cooling system.

Direct fuel injection made the car more powerful. The working volume of the cylinders of the new unit has increased to 4.75 liters. The engine produces 122 hp. maximum power. The maximum torque is reached already at 1500 revolutions of the crankshaft.

GAZ-3309 dump truck: specifications

On dump trucks based on GAZ-3309, in addition to the engine, a five-speed manual gearbox is installed. The user has access to cars with engines D-245.7 and YaMZ-5344 with an output power of 136 hp. The car can accelerate to a maximum speed of 95 km/h.

For traffic safety, a dual-circuit brake system with a hydraulic drive is used. The increase in pressure in the brake system is provided by vacuum boosters on each circuit. Braking is carried out through a drum system.

Body device

Like its predecessors, the GAZ-3309 dump truck has a leaf spring suspension. Telescopic shock absorbers are used on the front axle of the car. The base of the dump truck can be increased if necessary up to 6.2 meters. The disadvantages of the body device include suitability for movement on paved roads. Despite numerous improvements, the disadvantages of the car can still be attributed to strong vibration and low corrosion resistance of the body metal.

Cabin and electronics

Today, the suitability of equipment for operation is usually measured by the comfort of the cabin. In GAZ-3309, the latter is not distinguished by frills. It fits two people. The dashboard has not changed much since the first release of technology. Nevertheless, many representatives of the plant offer to equip the car with ABS systems and hydraulic power steering.

I bought a used GAZ 3309 from the organization, they carried food on it, the view was quite peppy. He took for his own needs, so to speak, as an au pair. Immediately served, changed oil everywhere, filters, sprayed, bought new batteries, wheels in front, eliminated smudges from the box. In general, in short, it is quite unpretentious, moderately reliable (likes care) and works out at 100%. There was nothing particularly terrible from the breakdowns, since the power steering tube (brewed) burst, by the way, climb everywhere where something rubs against each other, and lay it with rubber, or insulate it in some other way, it will only be a plus for you. Nothing else bad happened to the GAZ 3309. Always started up. Like a tractor. Already sold. From the pros: the consumption is very low - up to 60 km / h it consumed about 15 liters of diesel, if it is heated, then 17-18, but this is the maximum. The chassis is reliable, the main thing is to follow and squirt, it will walk for a very long time. Steering tips (ball) watch if you drive on bad roads. The engine on the GAZ 3309 is actually very frisky, but only 4750 volume. By the way, if you'll choose, then ask what kind of bridge is worth, slow-moving or high-speed, I got a low-speed, 2000 rpm at 80 km / h. But in 5th gear loaded almost all the slides. I did the processing of the cabin and soundproofed it, it became much quieter in the cabin. Of the minuses: hard until you load it, clumsy (you have to turn the steering wheel a lot), but you get used to it, then you don’t notice it. Well, a little noisy. Of course the body, poor painting, and processing, although this is our car, they can bloom somewhere.

Now I drive a GAZ 3309 elongated 6 meters. I got it not in the best condition, so I changed it in a month and a half: pads, right brake cylinder, brewed radiator. I changed both outboard cardan shafts (on an elongated 3-piece cardan shaft and with 2 outboard ones), bolts of the adapter plate from the cardan to the rear axle, rear wheel nuts, studs. What I didn't like: the rear wheel mounting system. Gearbox from ZIL (the first one only by pressing the second one, if so without a crunch and no matter how many times the clutch is pressed, it is very inconvenient for loaded people in Moscow traffic jams). Shakes in GAZ 3309 very strongly, even on small bumps. Lack of a regular cigarette lighter or 12 volt power supply (I don’t smoke myself, but I had to bring the cigarette lighter to charge the phone and other things with separate wires from one of the two batteries). Small inversion of the wheels (turn around on the spot as for a truck or movements in 10). Headlights (do not really adjust, look at the sky). Fuel tank (diesel, consumption 16 liters in mixed, tank only 100 liters). Cabin (wind blows all over and very noisy). Pros: in general, not very high diesel consumption. There are few competitors in cargo transportation (body 6 meters, carrying capacity 5 tons). It is quite maintainable (it's not very difficult to crawl somewhere). Low cabin (you can drive somewhere where there are height restrictions). Bonnet layout (no need to lift the cab).

Having bought a GAZ 3309, they did anti-corrosion treatment at the car dealership, naturally for an extra charge, they also installed a radio tape recorder through an adapter, i.e. on one battery without any converters there, which burn every six months. After, all the work, except for electricians, was carried out by himself. The body was the first to go into consumption - the floor immediately began to break under a load of 600 kg, I had to sheathe the floor and walls with plywood, enough for 2 years, I don’t need more. Then the generator burned out, then the starter bendix stuck and it also burned out. Almost all the bulbs have already changed, some twice. The brake pipe was frayed, the air pipe twice, the power steering hose pipe three times. A lot of things still had to be done, and it is necessary to finish up to normal work, and most importantly, there is always something to do in your free time. The bugs have already gone around the cabin, both at the joints and out of the blue, for another two years there will be holes, the body of the GAZ 3309 will rot even faster. You can talk about comfort separately, one gets the feeling that the cabin was specially thought out in such a way as to pound the driver so that he could not at least somehow lie down to rest, so that he would be very uncomfortable there in everything. The turning angle is very large, it is generally unrealistic to drive around the yards. The suspension is very stiff at first, out of habit, at the end of the day, the back hurts.

Advantages : acceptable price. Durable suspension.

I took the car new, the mileage at the moment is 260 thousand km. For 3 years of work on the GAZ 3309 went through a lot of things. Almost immediately I changed the kingpin, the holes on the bronze half-rings did not match with the grease fittings, the generator burned, the starter burned more than once, in winter the power steering sucks, it is fixed on the front beam and the oil sticks on the go. The car starts the turn very late. The brakes on the GAZ 3309 are very bad when you go loaded. Heating heats up only on the go and preferably with a load, and if you spend the night on the road only with the radiator closed and under three blankets (more than 40 degrees, the engine does not warm up). This is if there is a bed. In general, it is easier to spend the night in a hotel than to burn diesel fuel. Noise isolation and tightness of the GAZ 3309 cabin leave much to be desired. There is little comfort: the steering wheel is not adjustable in one position, there is nothing to say about softness - it is very tough. Bolts-planetaries of the rear axle blew off the ambassador of 150 thousand km. The car did not see overloads, mainly from 2.5 to 3.5 tons. It’s a complete disaster with light devices - the bulbs are constantly on. Radiator lugs are constantly falling off from shaking and much more. Brake cylinders often fail. In general, GAZ 3309 was originally designed to work in agriculture.

GAZ-3309 dump truck is a Russian-made medium-duty truck with good brakes and an ABS system. It belongs to the fourth generation of transport in this category. History of creation and development

In the second half of the 60th year, the specialists of the Gorky enterprise began work on replacing the GAZ-53A freight transport: the engineers planned to seriously modernize the existing car. In 1972, a transport with an index of 53-11 appeared, which differed in many ways from its predecessor. After successful testing of the new transport, the plant management decided that it was necessary to create equipment from scratch. At the same time, the main competitor of the company - ZIL - was preparing to release a new generation of cars.

In the 70s, German Magirus-Deutz trucks, which were delivered to Russia from Germany, played a big role in the development of 3309. Most of all, Soviet specialists liked the diesel power unit. Its distinguishing feature was air cooling, which proved to be excellent in the conditions of the Siberian climate. In 1976, the leadership of the Union gave instructions to machine-building enterprises - to produce new cars with diesel engines. GAZ started negotiations with a German company to buy a license to assemble engines with an air-cooled system.

At the beginning of February 1978, the designers prepared the first technical design of the GAZ-3309 prototype, which was successfully tested by the Minavtoprom. In 1979, the first prototypes left the workshop. Two years later, engineers prepared a demonstration series. The main distinguishing feature from the previous generation was the double cabin, inside which there was a lot of free space. The salon was equipped with efficient heating equipment and a ventilation system. The hydraulic booster GAZ-3309 was the first in the history of Soviet engineering.

In 1986, prototypes were successfully tested, the production model received the index 3307. Mass production of vehicles was launched in 1989. Under the hood was a ZMZ-511 engine, working in conjunction with a carburetor. He developed up to 125 horsepower. In 1992, the first modification was put on the conveyor, which differed from the standard load capacity (increased to 5 thousand kg). She was given the name 4301. The release continued until 1995. For 3 years, a little more than 28 thousand copies rolled off the assembly line.

The GAZ-3309 van appeared only in 1994, when the designers finished working with the 5441 diesel plant. It developed 115 horsepower and consisted of four cylinders. Chassis and cab taken from 3307, making minor changes. The new version ousted its predecessor from the market in 1996 due to its economy and environmental friendliness. A year later, the production of this model was also completed, since they considered it unprofitable. In 2001, serial production was resumed. The specialists abandoned the German engine, opting for the Minsk MMZ D-245.7. In 1999, all-wheel drive varieties appeared for the army (carrying capacity - 2 tons) and the national economy (2.3 tons).

GAZ-3309 Euro-2 appeared in 2006. In 2008, the designers brought the equipment to the Euro-3 standard. Gasoline cars were produced until 2009. After that, for several years they were produced on special orders of state structures with special-purpose add-ons. In 2013, Minsk engineers brought their development to the Euro-4 standard. Since 2012, a modification with a CumminsISF 3.8L diesel engine has also been available to consumers. At the beginning of 2013, version 33098 was released to the market. Its main difference is the YaMZ-5344.10 engine, which meets fourth-class environmental standards.

At a higher average speed, diesel consumption increases by 4-6 liters. Maximum filling - 105 liters. Power is enough to accelerate to 90 km / h.

Device GAZ-3309

The power unit works in conjunction with a five-speed manual gearbox. Each speed is equipped with a synchronizer. The steering mechanism is based on the "screw-ball nut" scheme. Good handling is ensured by the presence of power steering.

The pneumohydraulic drive is responsible for the high quality of the GAZ-3309 brake system. In addition to the main working system, the design has a parking brake, which is located on the transmission. The brakes consist of two circuits, the system includes drum mechanisms, a hydraulic type drive, a vacuum receiver and a hydraulic vacuum booster. Thanks to this design, the truck has good braking on any surface. ABS is included as standard.

The single-wire electronics system operates at 24 volts. Here lies one of the drawbacks of transport - the poor quality of the terminals attached to the battery. They provide poor contact, which often leads to poor performance of electronics.
