A. Conventional numbering of plugs in the blocks of the electric motor and the windshield wiper relay.

The electrical equipment is made according to a single-wire circuit - the negative terminals of the sources and the second terminals of electricity consumers are connected to ground, which serves as the second wire. The nominal system voltage is 12 V.

Most circuits are turned on by the ignition switch. The power supply circuits for the sound signals, cigarette lighter, brake light, interior lamps, portable lamp socket and open front door alarm lights are always on (regardless of the key position in the ignition switch). The electrical equipment of cars is protected by fuses installed either in one block (on the VAZ-2103) or in two blocks - the main and additional ones (on the VAZ-2106). The fuse boxes are located under the instrument panel on the left side of the steering column. On the VAZ-2103, the electric motor of the engine cooling system fan and heating element rear window(if installed) are protected by separate 16 A fuses located under the instrument panel in plastic housings. The following are not protected by fuses: the battery charging circuit, the ignition and engine starting circuits, the windings of the headlight switch relay and the fan motor switch relay.

Before replacing a blown fuse, find out the cause of its combustion and eliminate it. When troubleshooting, look at the circuits listed in the list that this fuse protects.

We'll talk in this post about installing blade fuses on VAZ 2101, 2106. The difference in installation on the “kopek” and on the “six” is not too big, the whole difference is in the presence of the block additional fuses in the sixth models, which contain backup fuses and fuses for the turn and alarm circuits, as well as the cooling fan circuit.

Blade fuses have a number of useful properties, which is actually better than standard ones, but all the advantages come down to one thing - better contact fuse with the socket in which it is installed. That's all. But thanks to this, there are no fuse melting, heating and other joys.

What is needed for installation:

  1. Key to "8"
  2. A screwdriver if it is difficult to remove the terminals from the standard unit
  3. Heat shrink is like a more “touchable” version of electrical tape, although you can also use electrical tape, but it won’t look very good
  4. Tester, may be needed
  5. Female connectors are 6.6 mm, for VAZ 2106 you will need 12 pcs, for VAZ 2101, 2103 - 8 pcs
  6. Actually, the blade fuse block itself is suitable for a Volga 3110 with 13 fuses
  7. Wires for making jumpers
  8. Straight arms, attentiveness

I recommend starting the installation by disconnecting the battery mass, this mandatory conditions start of work, guarantees the safety of work for you and your car. Next, using the “8” key, unscrew the fasteners of the fuse box, making sure that the wires do not come loose from the terminals.

After you have unscrewed the block, you need to move it down as far as the wires allow. No need to pull all the wires in a row! There is a possibility of mixing something up, and subsequent problems cannot be avoided. The entire installation is carried out according to the following diagram, which shows the markings for connecting the wires.

This diagram clearly shows in which places to install jumpers; they allow you to reduce the number of wires and simplify the electrical circuit.

Important!!! You need to install jumpers on those wires that carry voltage from engine compartment, that is, from the voltage source wire, install to the fuse. If you connect a jumper after the fuse, it turns out that current flows through one fuse, which powers two consumers.

They look like this:

Fuse blocks for electrical equipment circuits (main and additional) are installed in the passenger compartment to the left of the steering column under the instrument panel. Fuse numbers are marked on the block covers. Depending on the strength maximum current fuses have different colors.

VAZ 2106 cars with engines 21011, 2103, 2106 were considered

Relay replacement

Replacement of windshield wiper relay (PC514)

The windshield wiper relay is located in the passenger compartment on the left side of the body under the instrument panel and is designed to provide intermittent operation.

To complete the job, you will need two plastic upholstery holders.

1. Having removed the seal from the flange of the front pillar of the driver's door, use a screwdriver to pry up the sidewall upholstery and remove it, removing the two holders from the holes in the sidewall (the holders are usually destroyed in this case). We bend the sound insulation.

2. Disconnect the relay wire block from the harness. The connector is located at the bottom of the instrument panel

Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the two screws and remove the relay

Installation is performed in reverse order. We fasten the side panel upholstery with new holders.

Replacing the turn signal and hazard warning relay (231.3747 or 23.3747)

The breaker relay is installed on the partition of the engine compartment behind the instrument panel. The relay is designed to obtain intermittent light signal direction indicators both in the emergency signaling mode and in the direction indication mode and monitoring the serviceability of the direction indicator lamps. When the lamp burns out, the relay increases the blinking frequency.

1. Remove the instrument panel (see p. 174, “Instrument panel - removal and installation”).

2. Using a 10 mm socket wrench, unscrew the relay mounting nut. Under the nut are the tips of two “mass” wires.

Disconnect the wire block from the relay

Installation of all removed parts is carried out in reverse order.

Replacing the headlight switch relay (90.3747-10 or 113.3747-10)

Two relays for turning on the low and high beams are installed in the engine compartment on the upper part of the right mudguard.

Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the fastening screw and remove the relay. Under the bracket for fastening the high beam relay there is a tip of the mass “wire”.

A - relay for turning on high beams,B- Low beam relay.

Having marked or remembered the location of the wires, disconnect them from the relay terminals. For convenience, you can sequentially disconnect the wires and immediately connect them to a working relay.

2. Having marked or remembered the location of the wires, disconnect them from the relay terminals. For convenience, you can sequentially disconnect the wires and immediately connect them to a working relay.

Installing the relay is done in reverse order.

Replacing the cooling system radiator fan relay (90.3747-10 or 113.3747-10)

Relay for turning on the radiator fan of the cooling system, installed in engine compartment on the upper part of the left mudguard.

1. Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the fastening screw and remove the relay.

2. Having marked or remembered the location of the wires, disconnect them from the relay terminals. For convenience, you can sequentially disconnect the wires and immediately connect them to a working relay.
