The lawnmower won't start. What to do if your gasoline lawn mower won't start. General operating rules

If after a long period of inactivity, winter storage or for some other reason the lawn mower does not start, do not immediately panic and run to service center. It is not at all necessary that it is broken; perhaps it simply does not start correctly, the system was not properly started to operate after a period of inactivity, or the algorithm for preparing for operation was not followed.

Here are a few simple steps that will require specialized service in almost 70% of all cases. gardening equipment http://amazin.com.ua/sadovaya-tehnika is no longer needed. After the lawnmower is idle, you need to:

  1. Drain all gasoline from the device’s gas tank. Sometimes it stagnates in the system and prevents it from starting effectively.
  2. Fill in another one, that is new gasoline using a canister and watering can. You need to pour fuel very carefully, not allowing even droplets to get on the mower engine (they can ignite when the engine heats up). It is recommended to choose high quality gasoline with octane number - 92.
  3. If this is provided, you need to pump gasoline into the carburetor with a primer. The revolutions are set to the maximum. On the first cold start of the day, you need to set the choke to the “Closed” position. The next action is to hold the top button on the lawn mower handle, smoothly pull out the starter cord by 20 centimeters, then with a sharp but measured movement pull it in your direction.
  4. After the mower starts, the air damper is set to the “Open” position.
  5. You can start mowing the lawn.

In the case when these manipulations do not help, and the lawnmower still does not start, it is worth: 2a01:4f8:192:3::2

  • check the position of the regulator air damper as stated above in point 1
  • when the air temperature outside is more than 33 °C, it is better to set the air damper regulator to the middle position
  • after long work engine (the engine will heat up) and after the required five-minute break, you need to start the lawn mower with the air damper in the “Open” position
  • check if gasoline is getting to the spark plug, if there is a spark
  • check the gasoline in the mower tank; if it has been filled for a long time, it is better to change the fuel to new one
  • see if it passes through normally air filter if you need to wash it with gasoline
  • prime the carburetor with primer

A modern lawn mower http://amazin.com.ua/sadovaya-tehnika/gazonokosilki is a reliable thing, especially if it is bought in a specialized store. However, do not forget that any electric or gas-powered tool needs proper care, and compliance with operating rules. With 4 stroke gasoline engine- reliable, easy-to-use equipment. On flat areas, you can immediately see the advantages of such lawn mowers over brush cutters and trimmers. Productivity is higher and the lawn is cut more evenly. Knowledge of some of the nuances in the operation and maintenance of lawn mower engines will allow you to get true pleasure from the trouble-free start and operation of this equipment. Let's look at the example of a Viking MB 448 lawn mower with a Briggs&Stratton 500E OHV engine (see Figure 1). A similar device is used for Husqvaran mowers (r53sv, r152sv, lc56, lc 56b), oleo-mac. You can read more about choosing lawn mowers.

Sometimes, after checking the condition of the lawnmower blade or cleaning the housing around the blade, the exhaust from the muffler suddenly turns black, the lawnmower starts " sneeze" And stall. Check the condition of the air filter. An oily filter indicates that the mower was tilted towards the carburetor and oil from the engine crankcase got into the carburetor and onto the air filter. Therefore, always when cleaning or replacing the blade, tilt the lawn mower in the direction opposite to the carburetor, or towards rear wheels lawn mowers (see video).

How to properly clean a lawn mower?

For proper cleaning of branded mowers, we recommend watching the video below.

To eliminate the consequences of improperly tilting the lawn mower, first replace the air filter, remove the spark plug and clean the spark plug electrodes from soot. Intensively pump fuel into the carburetor with primer. Try to start the engine and let it run for 5-7 minutes until the black smoke disappears from the muffler. If after several attempts you cannot start the engine, go to a service center to clean the carburetor.

There are two lawn mowers at the dacha. The first castle garden (Italian, I think). The second honda hrx 476. Honda has become weird lately. When cold it starts the first or second time. After it runs for 10-15 minutes and stalls or turns off, then you won’t start it for 10-15 minutes. I couldn't find any adjustments. I tried to open the lid of the gas tank, it seems like they write on the internet that the gas may not flow well. Nothing helped.
Castle Garden operates without interruption at all. Even though it’s already torn apart.

I have a similar two-stroke leaf blower engine. I started it, revved it up, chasing the mown grass off the sidewalk, after 15 minutes I turned it off, and the hell it started. The next morning it starts. But when the engine is running, there is some instability, especially at idle. Probably a carburetor? Opening the gas cap does nothing.

I'm already home now. In general, how much does a candle usually cost? You can unscrew the heads or spark plug wrench buy? Was somewhere from the fourteenth vase.

It works for 10-15 minutes, then it starts to brainstorm. It seems to me not enough for work.

The revs work normally, with no complaints at all regarding the engine's performance.
The lawnmower is 2 years old.

Last summer I changed the oil. I looked at the condition of the knife. Seems to be OK. But it seems to be spreading the grass rather than throwing it into a bunker. The zdavizhka is worth sending to the bunker.

I don't understand yet simple thing. There is an oil sensor there, and it turns off the engine if, as it seems to him, there is not enough oil. Then the engine sits, the oil drains and runs again. So fill up the oil maximum level and everything will work OK.

OK. THX. I'll try.
I looked at the oil and it was somewhere in the middle on the dipstick. But this is already muted just now.

you can’t get into the module. they are usually flooded
You can unscrew it with a key or a socket
If possible, work to warm up. then, when it does not start, unscrew the spark plug, attach it to the block and start it. will there be a spark at the spark plug or not?
if so, then the problem is not in the module

I had a similar effect on my chainsaw. After making sure that the problem was not in the carb or filters, we changed the ignition coil. Somehow it got stuck when it was hot and they didn’t bother to figure it out.

This is probably a question for the manufacturer of this gadget, they don’t give us this information since it seems to have no use for us

TSV 18-06-2018 14:29

If you have time and desire, please ring the ends of the wire for neon and rezuk
there may be 2 options - the wires are soldered, and the wires are wound onto the main one (inductive pickup)

Apiary 18-06-2018 19:40

I’ll throw in my 5 kopecks - on a car there was a similar glitch on the ignition coil - the low wire in the compound broke off, and there was a similar effect - when cold the engine worked fine, when it warmed up it started to stall. When it cooled down it started up as if nothing had happened. Just ring the heated coil and understand.

After this, you need to put the spark plug on the engine body so that there is contact between the body and the spark plug itself. You can secure it with wire so that it doesn’t fall off when you pull the starter.

quote: Did you warm up the mower, turn it off, take out the spark plug and pull the starter?

just look at the candle. if the insulator of the central electrode is white and without carbon deposits, then everything is in order. You won’t really see the spark, because it’s dead there.
Last year I posted a photo in a similar topic - the engine began to malfunction due to a crack in the intake manifold.

If there is a metal casing on the tip of the spark plug wire, try throwing it out, it helped me. It also had trouble starting when warm.

Ymka 24-08-2018 13:11

The conclusion is something like this, in my limited experience - the gasoline that was poured into the lawn mower was purchased two months before problems arose. I bought new gasoline and the problem went away.
I specifically turned it off and started it several times. It worked, then turned it off and started it again. Everything is working.
Either octane number dropped, or something else happens to gasoline after some time.
By the way, my mother-in-law’s canister was leaking, so I put it in and told them not to carry it in it anymore, and not to buy too much in reserve. I highlighted mine.

Any Technical equipment requires a competent approach to operation. If used incorrectly, there is a risk of sudden failure of any part, resulting in breakdown of the entire equipment. Lack of timely diagnostics and maintenance of electrical appliances can damage the structure in an unauthorized manner. Only proper care of equipment guarantees the uninterrupted functioning of such a product as, for example, gasoline lawn mower. Failure to comply with these conditions does not always provoke failure of the unit, although all actions were carried out as usual.

Do-It-Yourself Approach to Troubleshooting

If you have done everything as usual when starting the mower, but it does not start, it is recommended to check fuel tank. If there is no gasoline, refill the container until the required level. If the mechanics were in the off mode for a long time, gasoline vapors may evaporate. To make sure that fuel has not been lost chemical properties, it is advisable to drain the residue, fill the tank with fresh contents, try to start technical means again.

When hit fuel and lubricant the engine may catch fire. Therefore, the procedure must be performed carefully. Check the mower's data sheet to find out the best fuel for this model.

There are other factors that influence the malfunction of the structure.

  • Before starting the product, we recommend pumping fuel into the carburetor, setting maximum power. Then you need to carefully pull the starter cord to the base and pull it towards you with a sharp, confident tug.
  • Incorrect location of the choke when first starting may cause a problem. Depending on the temperature environment it can be closed completely, or installed in neutral position. Subsequently prerequisite is the full opening of the lid.
  • The air filter tends to get dirty. Therefore, before starting it is necessary to check its serviceability. To do this, turn off the engine and disconnect the wire from the spark plug. The mechanism will have to be removed from the device, washed with an alcohol-containing product, and dried well. The average time of its use is 25 hours, so decide for yourself whether to wash it or buy a new one.
  • A faulty spark plug can interfere with engine performance. To check its functionality, you should unscrew it, clean it, and make sure there is a spark. Next, you need to set the damper handle to the “closed” function, after which you can put the electric machine into operation. If cleaning the spark plug does not help, contact a specialized repair shop for help.
  • Remember to constantly inspect the device for dirt. This is especially true for the lower part of the lawn mower, since the bottom gets clogged with mown grass and dirt almost every time it is used; it is necessary to clean the cavities in a timely manner.

If the mower starts normally and the engine stops almost immediately, it can be assumed that a jam has occurred crankshaft or piston. Also do not forget that the crankcase must contain optimal quantity oils If the coupled parts move with difficulty, there is most likely a lack of lubrication, which explains the stagnation of the equipment.
