Should I buy a used Nissan Patrol Y61 series? All owner reviews about Nissan Patrol Y61 restyling All about Nissan Patrol y61 3.0 diesel

For those who decide to become a jeep and choose an off-road vehicle for rides and cannot decide whether to buy a Nissan Patrol y61, this article has been written in which we will deal in detail with all the advantages and disadvantages of the Nissan Patrol Y61.

Usually on the Internet everyone talks about this Patrol 61 as a legendary SUV, reliable, passable and safe. It was like this back in the 90s, now it is unlikely that it will be possible to find a really worthwhile car, but if you want and have money, you can do it.

For those who are going to mix dirt and take part in pokatushki, it is necessary to properly prepare the car. First you need to find a more or less good condition Patrol y61 and modify it to the state of an SUV. It is better to buy a stock car that has not yet participated in off-road rides, it will have a better condition. And then you just need to buy off-road equipment and install it on the car.

But you need to understand that the stock Patrol, like any other jeep, will not go through soft mud, in which highway tires slip. In addition, there is a possibility that the car will bury itself, because the Patrol weighs about 2.5 tons and has a long wheelbase. There is even a video on this topic, how difficult it is to get out of such soft mud later:

In general, to prevent this from happening, the Nissan Patrol 61 still needs to be finalized, and this will cost a lot of money - about half the cost of the car. Here's what you need to buy and do:

  • increase ground clearance - make an elevator;
  • install 35 inch wheels;
  • install a snorkel for those who are going to drive into the swamp;
  • put a bumper with a winch;
  • body and bottom protection;
  • it is necessary to change the main pairs so that the 35th wheels function normally.

All this off-road equipment costs quite a lot of money, if these parts are not Chinese and the installation work will also cost money. But for real jeepers, these are all trifles and everyday problems that can be easily fixed.

Nissan Patrol 3-door short wheelbase

For those who decide to conquer the impenetrable off-road, the short-wheelbase Nissan Patrol 61 body is better suited, it has a smaller mass, so it is more likely not to get stuck in a swamp and mud. It also rides well on public roads, on snow, etc. Almost all off-road performance depends on rubber, if it is toothed, then the car has every chance of driving through mud.

In general, the Nissan Patrol u61 combines utility, comfort, aggressive appearance and the possibility for serious tuning. But anyway, don’t tune the car, almost everything depends on the driver’s skills to drive off-road.

Motor reliability

Many people think that the diesel 4.2-liter engine that is in the Nissan Patrol u61 is a millionaire, but in fact it is not. This is a 6-cylinder engine, but its resource really does not exceed 500,000 km. In addition, it is not very powerful, and the car drives with it sluggishly, the only thing that is good about it is the torque and unpretentiousness in fuel quality, which make this engine ideal for mud riding. There are configurations with a conventional TD42 diesel engine, turbocharged TD42T and TD42Ti engines.

Off-road benefits

An excellent option for buying is the diesel Arabic Nissan Patrol 61 body of 2010 with a TD42 engine, it is great for off-road, but it has few options, there is a manual transmission.

In addition, the Arab diesel Patrols have options such as an additional fuel tank, there is a volume of 45 and 90 liters. This means that the car will be able to drive on the highway for about 1500 km.

As for the spaciousness of the cabin, thanks to the 2 benches that stand behind the second row of seats, at least 9 people can fit in the car.

In addition to these diesel engines in the Nissan Patrol U61, you can also find diesel engines with a volume of 2.8 and 3 liters. But they have even less power and traction, and in terms of reliability, they do not differ from the 4.2-liter engine.

The 2.8-liter RD28T engine has 6 cylinders and a turbine, but this engine does not have much power for such a large car. But for a 3-door Patrol u61 - such a motor is just right. Also, this motor has a drawback - if it overheats, it starts to drive its head. Therefore, you can often find configurations in which this motor and intercooler are installed. But for those who don’t specifically kill the motor, don’t overload it off-road, and don’t allow it to overheat, there is good news - it will serve itself for quite a long time, at least 500,000 km.

But the 3-liter ZD30 engine is considered truly legendary. Its history began in 1999, in those years this engine was considered one of the most advanced diesel engines. This motor was installed on many other cars, it is constantly being improved. But when he first came out, he also had a lot of jambs. It happened that it burned out, and there were also cases that the piston group collapsed, so often such defective motors were recalled and redone. Nissan quickly tried to correct all these shortcomings so that there was no total failure. Already in 2000, the oil pan was increased from 5.5 liters to 8.2, and the oil dipstick was lengthened.

But still, the owners of the Nissan Patrol u61 continued to have problems with the engine, so the engineers decided to change the design of the piston group, this happened already in 2004. Other improvements were also made. But while they were improving this motor, it had already become morally obsolete. Therefore, the engineers came to the conclusion that something more global had to be done, and in 2006 they made the ZD30CRD motor with the Common-rail system. It has already been made more thoughtfully, the power has become a little more, but it has become much more reliable.

The characteristics of the ZD30 diesel engine are really the best in the line of engines for the Patrol u61, there is just enough power and torque for such a heavy SUV. Exactly what is enough, but I want the power to be in abundance. There are also some difficulties in maintaining the ZD30, the design is not so simple, so if this motor has to be repaired, then only qualified specialists will be needed.

Of course, there are also ZD30 motors with a mileage of more than 300,000 km, but no capital was made, but these are quite rare cases. But if you manage to find a live motor and properly care for it in the future, then it will last a long time.

By the way, many owners of the Nissan Patrol u61 know that the ZD30 engine lends itself perfectly to tuning, you can do chip tuning, thanks to which the power will increase to 200 hp. from. At the same time, there will be no damage to the motor, and taxes are paid based on the base power - 160 hp. from.

In Russia, there are quite a few Patrols u61 with a ZD30 engine, because these configurations were officially sold, so you can find a car with a good engine. For those who took a car with a dead engine, you can do these things to confidently drive off-road:

  • make a major overhaul;
  • find a new motor and just change the old one for a new one;
  • You can make a swap, for example, put a Toyota motor.

But all these ways to revive a dead engine are quite expensive, they will cost 2000 - 4000 dollars. That is, about half the cost of the car. The cheapest option would be to do the overhaul yourself, but for this you need to be able to do it.

In general, you should not buy a Nissan Patrol with a ZD30 engine if the car is older than 2004, and if the mileage is more than 200,000 km, then you should not take such a car either. If you are not well versed in diesel engines, but you are going to drive in extreme conditions. You should not take a car with such an engine if your region does not have high-quality fuel and there is no good service.

You can buy a Patrol u61 with this engine if its native mileage is less than 100,000 km, you are not going to drive off-road, you understand diesel engines or you can do a swap.

Gasoline engines in Nissan Patrol u61

In addition to diesel engines, there are also gasoline ones, but real jeepers, of course, drive diesel fuel. There are 3 petrol engines and they are all 6-cylinder in-line design:

  • TB42S;
  • TB45S;
  • TB48DE.

Reliability is no worse than that of a diesel TD42. But gasoline configurations are quite rare and they have high fuel consumption.

Reliability of the Nissan Patrol U61 with a gasoline engine

In general, the 61st Patrol is a fairly reliable jeep, but there are still some features. For 8 years now, this body has been discontinued. Therefore, you can only buy such a car used, and as a rule, it is rarely found in good condition, because such a car is usually bought only by those people who subject it to constant stress.

If you often drive off-road, then after 3 years of such rides, the car can turn into very shabby trash. Also, the mileage here can be easily twisted. When buying such a car, you also need to look at the owner, because what kind of owner, such a car. If he is greedy, then he saved on car maintenance. If untidy, it means that he treated the car in the same way.

Before buying, you must definitely look at the condition of the chassis and body so that it is not rusty. As for the running gear, in order to kill it, you still have to try, but you still need to check it.

Inexpensive service Nissan Patrol u61

What else is good about the Patrol is its inexpensive price tag for maintenance, spare parts for it are inexpensive, but you still have to pay for the work of the masters. Therefore, it will be a big plus if you yourself understand and can repair the car yourself.

Many spare parts for Patrol are even suitable for domestic cars and other foreign cars, so you can save a little. But the fuel consumption of the car is huge, so you still have to spend money on it.

But auto mechanics will most of all breed for money, because they see that the car is expensive, which means that its owner has money and will breed for serious money, and if you go to the officials, they will generally rip it to the skin, they will say that it is necessary to do a major overhaul.

Therefore, with these devils, the main thing is not to be a sucker, because they can sell a penny part for serious money if you do not understand your car. A more or less competent specialist can make such a detail in 5 minutes or find an inexpensive analogue.

For example, if service workers see errors in the fuel system, they can easily start offering to change the high-pressure fuel pump, it will cost 250,000 rubles, and the problem can be very banal - a contact has disappeared somewhere or air has formed in the system. And in general, the high-pressure fuel pump can be repaired, the main thing is that the master is normal. Therefore, we must not rush to pay money, but try to figure it out at least a little. And it is even better to find friends-masters who will not breed you.

The most important thing is not to buy such a car for the last money, and even more so, you don’t have to get into debt. You need to understand that if you buy a used car, you should have the same amount of money left to repair and replace consumables just in case.

Which gearbox to choose: automatic or manual?

For a real jeep, it is better to take a car with a manual transmission, but if the car is taken not only for off-road, but also for everyday driving, then you can take it with an automatic transmission, especially when driving around the city in such a big car it will not be solid pull the handle every time.

Also, off-road in the mud, it’s easier to get under way with an automatic transmission. In addition, a 4-speed automatic is considered more reliable than a manual, in which you often have to change the clutch, and the flywheel is not very reliable.

In addition, the 4-speed automatic transmission is adaptive and remembers the driver's driving style. If the box is serviceable, then it will not have pushes or kicks. In general, it is better to take the Patrol with a machine gun. But a mechanical gearbox also has its advantages - a car with mechanics can tow 3.5 tons of weight, and an automatic one - 2.5.

Also, if the car is on the mechanics, then it can be safely towed, as well as started from a pusher, this will not work with an automatic transmission.

What are the configurations of Nissan u61

All configurations of the 61st Patrol are quite good, even the basic configurations come with power accessories. The top-end equipment with full minced meat comes with a 4.8-liter gasoline engine, as a rule they were delivered to the United Arab Emirates, and you rarely see them in Russia and the CIS, although they were officially delivered.

In this Arab configuration with a 4.8-liter engine, a new 5-speed automatic transmission with tiptronic was installed at that time. There is also cruise control, 2 gas tanks, a navigation system and other useful options.

Diesel engines

With diesel trim levels, things are a little different - only 2 trim levels were sold in Russia: the basic Luxury and the maximum Elegance. For off-road it is better to take Luxury, it has a rag interior, a manual transmission and a bunch of plastic. But Elegance is more comfortable equipment, it has leather, wood, automatic transmission, there is a sunroof. both sets are the same.

The Elegance trim with a bright interior looks best, but the top-end petrol version will still be better.

You should not buy a Nissan Patrol 61st body if:

  • no money for maintenance and no friends who can repair the car;
  • and in general, if you are not going to drive off-road, there are other more interesting cars for city driving.

It is worth buying such a car for those who:

  • considers himself a jeeper or decided to become a jeeper;
  • often goes hunting or fishing in distant forests;
  • loves to tune and refine cars, there is always something to refine in this car;
  • long dreamed about this car.

And if you are a major and like to filth around the city at night, then it is better to take Gelik or another sports car. Patrol is taken by jeepers and those who are not in a hurry.

Cars are different. Some model can be safely called ordinary, the other is considered worthy. But there are cars that are considered legendary. Nissan Patrol is one of them. Initially created for the needs of the army, the Patrol U61 SUV won the hearts of off-road lovers around the world. Patrol is the official vehicle of the UN, it is used to travel to the most dangerous and difficult places.

Patrol U61 is the name of the fifth generation, which is no longer in production, in 2010 it was replaced by the sixth generation. But finding a car is not so difficult, and the price of a supported version is much lower than the sixth generation Patrol. The article will consider the features of all-wheel drive, power plants and operation in difficult conditions.

The main dimensions of the car
Length 5045 mm
Height 1855 mm
Width 1940 mm
Clearance (ground clearance) 220 mm
Wheelbase 2970 mm
rear track 1625 mm
front track 1605 mm
Luggage compartment volume from 183 to 2287 liters
Basic tires 275/65R17
Full mass from 2920 to 3200 kg, depending on the configuration

Appearance and interior

Photos will tell more about the appearance of the car. The body does not differ in brutal appearance, but at the same time it looks reliable and unshakable. And this is true - the body is made of a thick layer of metal, which is why the mass of the car reaches 3 tons. On the one hand, this makes it stable, and on the other hand, it negatively affects fuel economy.

Inside, everything is also simple and practical. There are no bells and whistles here, but the driver feels confident behind the wheel. And passengers usually do not complain. The only minus of the car interior (except for the decoration that is simple by modern standards) is the interior mirror.

Body Features

Nissan has tried to make the car as "indestructible" as possible. The body practically does not rust. After examining a car with ten years of experience, the experts found corrosion only in places of deep chips. But if the driver decides to buy a car from an off-road fan, then the body should be carefully examined, since the time spent in the swamps has a bad effect on the thresholds and wheel arches.

It is necessary to carefully examine the frame, especially its rear part, since corrosion appears first of all there. The body is made of a thick layer of metal, so the resource is quite large. But it will be great if, after the purchase, the owner will process the “weak” points of the design.

Specifications

It is worth talking about iron separately, but for now we suggest studying the engines. For all the time, many options have been released, but we are considering those engines that can be easily found in the CIS countries. It is worth saying that in the Russian market of used cars, the right-hand drive Patrol is a frequent guest.

And if possible, it is better to choose just such a version of the "Japanese". The right-hand drive SUV will have a Safari badge, which is appreciated among off-road enthusiasts. In general, such versions have a richer finish and content. The electronics settings are slightly different from the European versions of the Nissan Patrol. For example, in the root model you can find a 4.2-liter diesel unit that produces 160 horses.

Base diesel engine 2.8 TD

The 2.8-liter engine, like other fifth-generation Nissan diesel options, is turbocharged. The design includes six cylinders, which have an in-line arrangement. The power of the turbodiesel is 129 horsepower, bursting out from under the hood at 2000 rpm. Torque peaks at 252 H*m at 4000 rpm. The motor works only with 5-speed mechanics. The engine has the following dynamics and economy indicators:

  • The power plant accelerates Patrol from 0 km/h to 100 km/h in 18.4 seconds.
  • The speed limit is 155 km/h.
  • In the city, the base engine eats up about 15 liters, on the highway - 9.5. Mixed mode - 11 liters.

Diesel 3.0TD

The volume is 2953 cm3. The location here is also in-line, only there are already 4 cylinders, not 6. When choosing a medium diesel engine, it can be equipped with either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual. Power is 158 horses at 2000 rpm. The maximum torque is 380 H * m, which appears at 2000 rpm. The performance of a 3-liter diesel engine is as follows:

  • Acceleration from 0 km / h to 100 km / h takes 15.4 seconds with a manual or 16.9 with a gun.
  • Maximum speed - 160 km / h.
  • Consumption in the city is 14.3 liters with mechanics, the machine will reduce the figure to 13.9. On the highway, the car consumes 8.8 liters with a manual transmission or 8.6 with an automatic transmission. Mixed mode for both options requires about 10 liters.

Diesel flagship 3.0 TD

The top diesel has become the "favorite" of Russian offroaders.

The most expensive turbodiesel has an in-line arrangement of four cylinders. The choice of boxes is exactly the same as in the previous motor: 5MKP or 4AKP. Maximum power is 160 horsepower, which becomes available at 3600. Torque peaks at 380 H * m. The flagship received the following indicators:

  • Acceleration 0-100 km / h takes 15.2 seconds with a manual transmission or 16.3 with an automatic transmission.
  • The speed limit is 160 km/h.
  • Fuel consumption in the city should not exceed 14.3 liters with mechanics and 13.9 liters. with an automatic. On the highway, the car consumes 8.8 liters with manual transmission and 9 with automatic transmission. The average consumption is 12 liters.

4.8 petrol engine

The only gasoline engine has an in-line arrangement of six cylinders. Only a 5-speed automatic is available for it. Power is 245 horsepower at 3600 rpm. Peak torque is 400 N*m at 3600 rpm. The engine "feeds" on the 95th gasoline. The most powerful option boasts the following indicators:

  • Acceleration time to hundreds lasts 11.7 s.
  • The speed limit is 180 km/h.
  • In the city, a car equipped with a gasoline engine needs 19.6 liters per hundred. On the highway, fuel consumption drops only per liter - 18.1.

Nissan Patrol features - testers notes

Now we know what can be inside the SUV. The final puzzle is the car's ability on the road. Feedback from ordinary motorists and serious testers helps to see the big picture. If the SUV “rolls” on asphalt, then only rear-wheel drive is involved in the work. And this is convenient, because fuel consumption drops, the ride becomes more comfortable, and driving a rear-wheel drive car is much easier. But if the driver gets off-road, then in his arsenal appear: a rear differential lock, low gears and all-wheel drive.

Once in an extreme situation, the owner of the car can even turn off the rear stabilizer. This element looks like a shock absorber. In normal mode, the rear stabilizer is locked. In this position, the wheels are hung out earlier, as a result, there is less roll. But on a real offroad, the element becomes superfluous, so the driver can disable it with a single button on the dashboard. After that, the electromagnet will release the stem. As a result, each Nissan Patrol wheel will receive 70 millimeters of free play. The symbiosis of these functions and a reliable body provide excellent cross-country ability to the car.

Returning to the stabilizer, it is worth warning that it is worth turning it off only in serious situations, since the wear of the part occurs quite quickly. Replacement will cost almost a thousand dollars. The rest of the parts that form the four-wheel drive are of high strength. True, the hub couplings of the front wheelset may be an exception. Here the situation is the same as with the stabilizer - they work in automatic and manual mode. So that the couplings do not cause trouble, they need to be monitored and serviced in time. This implies disassembly and lubrication of the hubs and steering knuckles. These procedures are performed every 40-60 thousand kilometers. In general, the car has no problems with off-road: an excellent all-wheel drive system, a strong body and a powerful power plant.

Patrol can be called unique because of the suspension, which is dependent on both front and rear. But this highlight has a positive effect on the reliability of the “running” both on a flat surface and offroad. The car turned out to be quite economical when compared with other SUVs. For example, bushings and stabilizer struts change only after 50-60 thousand km. With the steering of the car, too, everything is fine - with increasing speed, the effort on the "steering wheel" also increases. As the experience of Russian owners of Nissan Patron shows, steering parts are no less durable than the body.

Eventually

The brakes may seem a little too hard for some, but for an SUV, this is a plus, not a minus. With frequent use of the car on the road, replacement of the pads may be needed after 20 thousand mileage. If only the disc is worn out, you can grind it yourself and return it to operation.

You can buy a car for 1.5-2 million rubles, depending on the configuration and power stop.

Review Nissan 4.6 gasoline (Nissan Patrol) 2009 Part 2

So the warranty period of possession of this car has passed. What can be added to what was said earlier. Mileage for children — 30500. The run is due to the fact that the car itself is problematic (my copy), and not the only one in use.

Now, in order and honestly about everything.

Disadvantages that cannot be eliminated in the process are vibration on the steering wheel when driving on a highway at a speed of 95-105 km. The steering wheel just twitches and the impact on the body. Five claims to the dealer did not fix the situation. The response of the service is the rubber curve. We put a winter set of wheels with disks - everything is the same. We balance in three different places. There are no improvements. By the way, no comments.

Strengths:

  • Comfort
  • patency
  • Brutality in everything

Weak sides:

  • Reliability is just no
  • Weak LC coating

Review of Nissan Patrol GR 3.0 Di Turbo (Nissan Patrol) 2007

Good day, dear guests and participants of the forum!

Having written my first review about the car that I now operate, it would be completely ugly to forget about the Nissan Patrol, which served me faithfully until March of this year. It is probably necessary to start with how the car was chosen.

I will write in advance that before buying Patrol, I had only VAZ cars at my disposal (I drove VAZ-2101, 2105 and 2115), which, however, did not leave sunny memories. The need for an SUV arose in connection with official business: the need to travel over rough terrain, mainly in the protected areas of the neighboring Republic of Kalmykia (who knows what Ekiburul, Zlaturgan and other outlandish places are, he will understand what I mean). I was not going to participate in rally raids and looked after the car as a reliable, workhorse for road and off-road. At the same time, the existing level of savings made it possible to count on the purchase of a foreign-made car. In addition, I wanted to know what a diesel engine is. So, based on the available savings, one could consider Nissan Pathfinder, Nissan Patrol, Mitsubishi Pajero, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and (with a stretch) Volvo XC90 (I understand that the last car is not at all a utilitarian SUV, but it was very attractive from the standpoint of appearance and security).

Strengths:

  • Good cross
  • Roomy interior
  • high rise
  • Reliability and unpretentiousness in operation

Weak sides:

  • Weak engine
  • Lack of permanent all-wheel drive
  • Outdated gearbox and audio system
  • Weak low beam
  • Uncomfortable folding of the second and third row seats

Review Nissan 4.6 gasoline (Nissan Patrol) 2009

Good day to all who read this review.

This car was chosen very long and painstakingly. Although there is nothing special to choose in this model: 3 liters of diesel or 4.6 gasoline. As a result, after analyzing the information received from various sources, it was found that the diesel seems to be more economical (the city is declared - 14.5 per 100, gasoline - 25 per 100), the torque is almost the same, the difference in l / s is 85 plus for gasoline. Gasoline is also equipped with a 5-speed tiptronic, in contrast to the 4-speed automatic. Everything else is the same in terms of configuration and dimensions. It was not possible to pass a comparative test drive due to the lack of a gasoline version as such. And yet the choice is made in favor of the petrol version. This was based on: a large volume does not frighten, there is an American 5.2 liters, the quality of diesel fuel is terrible, and also an ominous winter, when it’s frosty in the morning at 30. It was also noticed that previous patrols with a diesel engine were very frequent at the service station. And in general, for this money, I also didn’t want to study chemistry in order to competently use gels and additives. As a result, the petrol version. Yes, you can say that he went crazy. It's not the same for everybody.

More about feelings. Salon: black leather, wood and aluminum inserts. Somewhat angular, but in my opinion if you fell for the Patrol, it means you like the design. The landing is very comfortable, high, the driver has as many as 9 adjustments. I don’t remember the passenger, like 6. Finding a comfortable position is not a problem, on long trips, for which I took it, you don’t get tired. 4 row of seats allows 2 men to sit quite comfortably, but climbing is not very convenient. When fully loaded, the trunk is very small, which is not encouraging. Since we only drove full at the premiere to friends, it was decided to remove the 3rd row altogether. In the event that the entire volume is needed, then the 2nd row does not add up to a flat floor, a step is obtained, which is not very convenient. Visibility forward and to the sides is good. Nothing is visible back, except for the wheel and the junction of swing doors. Mirrors are good, but still small. The right mirror does not lower when moving backwards, which was disappointing, because this is very lacking due to the high ground clearance.

Strengths:

  • Real frame SUV
  • Practical
  • brutal

Weak sides:

  • Transport tax
  • Turning radius

Review of Nissan Patrol GR 3.0 Di Turbo (Nissan Patrol) 2007

Well, I moved from Ford Explorer to Nissan Patrol and I can say that I did not regret it. The dynamics, of course, are not the same, but this is the only, if I may say so, minus, but - a spacious interior, a huge trunk (And after taking out the third row of seats, it’s just a fairy tale. Why is it set by default at all? Is it really impossible to make it as an option ?! ).
I drive around the city calmly, after I got used to the dimensions and the fact that the right side of OKA-type cars is not visible when they drive near the front wheel.
It’s wonderful on the track, up to a certain point, until the speed is up to 120 km / h, and then hold me seven, just like a locomotive derailed, a very dangerous activity in general, and it’s not his business to dissect at such a speed, there is another purpose , namely off-road.

This is where he shows himself ... no, first he shows that the rubber should at least be changed to A / T, and then he already shows that he is capable of a lot, even in the standard version. Although if you go to serious pampas, then the final one, but those fellows who go there already know what and where to fasten;)

The main thing is that the design of the suspension allows you not to slow down on uneven and even very uneven roads and without a road, the main thing is to have time to catch the car, because. back rearranges at times.

Strengths:

  • Big car :)
  • Weak sides:

  • The third row of seats in the basic configuration - IMHO of course

  • Very easily soiled interior - it is not clear why, but I just evaporated to clean it, although before that there were cars with a black interior

  • No cabin air filter

  • Radio with a cassette - I just can not buy it :(
  • Review of Nissan Patrol GR 3.0 Di Turbo (Nissan Patrol) 2007

    in February 2007, after a long choice between cars Nissan Murano, Pathfinder and Patrol, Toyota Prado, Mitsubishi Podgero 4, Subaru Tribeca and Ford Explorer, a worthy car Nissan Patrol was chosen - an eternal car with an indestructible suspension and a reliable diesel engine D 3.0 . But it turned out that I became the proud owner of the Patrol in just 10 days, because. after registering with the traffic police and successfully passing the technical inspection, a new car with numbers and a technical coupon for 3 years parked near work with the engine idling safely died, the most reliable engine jammed.

    (Some kind of oil pipe broke in the engine, which subsequently led to engine failure). And long telephone conversations began with the salon and other representatives of the Nissan company. The Nissan company, showing concern, offered to send a tow truck for a broken Nissan car, but probably having calculated the evacuation route (about 3,000 km to the nearest Nissan dealer), they decided to abandon this idea and offered to wait half a year until summer navigation. I had to solve this problem myself (because drowning people always help themselves, even if there are rescuers), hire a cargo car, load it into the body and transport the broken car back to the salon, having previously phoned and offered to replace it with another car car, even agreed with the surcharge.

    But upon arrival at the salon, it turned out that not everything was so simple and the exchange was not made. Having sent a written claim for termination of the sale and purchase agreement, I did not receive an answer, only assurances that this problem was being solved, and after a month there was no result. And then a miracle happens, an offer comes from the salon that they agree to return the money for the car and the installed additional equipment, but minus the cost of repairing the engine, explaining that the broken oil pipe is a warranty repair, and the engine repair is at your expense, because the happy owner of a Nissan Patrol car should not take his eyes off the dashboard for a single minute, because perhaps the control lights will light up due to some malfunctions, these are the warranty obligations of the Nissan Company as interpreted by the salon service managers.

    Strengths:

  • Large and attractive car
  • Weak sides:

  • Unreliability of the diesel engine 3.0

  • Terrible warranty service
  • Review of Nissan Patrol GR 3.0 Di Turbo (Nissan Patrol) 2007

    The choice of car was made long ago and consciously, the lifestyle suggests the presence of an SUV. All jeeps before it are a preparatory introductory stage and a compromise between the desires and the possibilities of the wallet. So, 2005, 3 liter turbodiesel 160 hp, automatic, leather. Drove to date 12,000 km and I can report the following.

    Apparently it just coincided so that the previous owner and I have approximately the same views on the necessary and sufficient things that a car should have, so from the extra on the car it was - tastefully and properly done tinting, tow bar, turbo timer, rear parking sensors, an alarm system in addition to the regular one immobilizer, native, controlled from the same remote control as the central lock. No fake kengurins, light bulbs, TVs, subwoofers, etc.

    The car, of course, is very specific. You have to want to buy it, and only it and nothing else, because, in my opinion, convincing someone to take this car just like that is not possible, there is no compromise. If you can choose between Outlander and IhTrailoim and CARV, or Lancer-Corolla-Almera, then here - either Patrol or nothing ... ... if, of course, funds allow. Probably the same can be said about any iconic car, but I never had any doubts about this car. One minus - now there is nothing more to want.

    Strengths:

  • Reliable, decades-proven design

  • Fuel consumption

  • The price-quality ratio is one of the best on the market

  • Security

  • Not theft
  • Weak sides: Little things that do not affect the speed and safety.

    Strengths: Unpretentious, gives you the opportunity for unlimited tuning, solid, simple and inexpensive to repair, goes great on the highway, great off-road, RELIABLE to disgrace!!!

    Weak sides: In the city, the dimensions make themselves felt, after lifting the rolls in the corners but not critical, the consumption of gasoline in the city is 16-18l. GAS must be installed.

    Fans of real SUVs have great respect for the Nissan Patrol of various generations, but in this review we are not talking about its latest modification - but about the previous - the sixth generation of the Nissan Patrol, which received the Y61 index. The all-terrain vehicle was first shown to journalists in Barcelona in 1997, but the general public saw the car in Frankfurt in 1998. Patrol's most direct competitor is, but in the STD and GX configurations, which involve a more durable - dependent front suspension. In 2010, the seventh generation Nissan Patrol appeared, unlike the Y61, the new car no longer had a frame, and only one gasoline engine is offered as an engine, there are no longer those diesel engines for which the Patrol fell in love with fans around the world.

    Body and appearance:

    On the roads of the CIS, Nissan Patrol in 98% of cases is found in a five-door body. Note that the five-door has impressive dimensions, the wheelbase of 2970mm exceeded the wheelbase of business sedans of that time. There is a three-door - short-base modification with a base of 2400mm. It’s simply not realistic to see a pickup truck with a single-row cab on the roads of Russia or Ukraine, but such a car was also produced. In 2006, the Nissan Patrol was restyled. The restyled SUV is distinguished by more rectangular and massive fender flares, new bumpers and a radiator grille. Pay attention to the photo, above - before the restyled, and below - after the restyled car. By the hood cover, it was almost always possible to determine whether diesel or gasoline was under the hood? The fact is that all diesels, in addition to the extremely common 4.2 r6, have an air intake on the hood cover, the gasoline versions do not have an air intake, and the above-mentioned 4.2l diesel does not have it either. On the bodies of the new Patrol, the manufacturer gave a guarantee against through corrosion for 6 years, which is not very much. Therefore, when buying, pay attention to the body. Depending on the modification, Patrol is worn in tires with a dimension of 265/70 R16 or 275/65 R17.

    Salon and equipment:

    In the vast majority of cases, cars driving on the roads of the CIS have a very good package. To meet with us the basic Patrol with power steering, just one airbag and with a minimum set of amenities in the form of a central lock is almost unrealistic. Patrol on our roads is at least equipped with heated front seats, an immobilizer, a heated wiper rest area and a 6-disc CD changer. Leather interior is not uncommon, and Nissan Patrol with a gasoline engine is usually equipped with an automatic transmission. The volume of the luggage compartment in the normal state is 668 liters, but there are two additional seats in the trunk, if they are expanded, the trunk can still accommodate 183 liters of luggage. If you fold the sofa of the second row, then the volume of the trunk will increase to 2281 liters. The spare wheel is mounted on the trunk lid, which also saves space in the cabin.

    Technical part and characteristics of Patrol Y61

    The frame structure carries a galvanized body, but as mentioned above, the guarantee for the body is too small, there are cases when rust covered even the frame itself. The basic package of the Nissan Patrol includes ABS and Break Assist. Some drawback in comparison with the Toyota Land Cruiser 100 is the lack of a center differential - this indicates that the car is equipped with a classic Part-time 4WD all-wheel drive system. That is, in normal mode, the all-terrain vehicle moves on the rear wheel drive, but when necessary, you can also connect the front axle. The Patrol is equipped with a rear differential lock and a low range of gears.

    From the very beginning of production, the Nissan Patrol Y61 was equipped with a 2.8-liter diesel inline six-cylinder engine equipped with a turbocharger. The power of 130 horsepower and 252Nm of torque is just enough for a leisurely ride. This unit is the only one in the Patrol engine line that is equipped with a timing belt drive. The belt should be replaced with a Nissan every 80,000. After 200,000, the turbine may need to be replaced, the price of a new spare part is $ 1,000. Also on the 2.8 engine, there were cases of breakdowns of the high pressure fuel pump. The big problem with diesel 2.8 is that the cylinder head can crack and even burn out. The price of a new spare part is $1,200 - $1,400. The problem is that the Japanese stuffed the engine number on the cylinder head. Turbo diesel index 2.8 - RD28ET. In 2000, a 3.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel appeared. The diesel engine produces 158 horsepower and 354Nm of torque. On this diesel engine, a breakdown of the air flow meter was noticed, which is accompanied by a loss of traction. The advantage of the 3.0 diesel unit is that the high pressure fuel pump on this engine is more reliable than the 2.8l one. Engine index 3.0 - ZD30DDTI. This unit already has a timing chain drive. The most desirable among fans of the model is a 4.2l diesel. This motor is equipped with a trouble-free timing gear drive. The engine was installed on Arab cars, in our area diesel 4.2 is a rarity, but it is with such an engine that Nissan Patrol gets maximum reliability. Note that diesel 4.2 is noisier in operation - this is due to the fact that, due to the too hot climate in the Arab countries, noise reduction is not glued under the hood. For this unit, two fuel and oil filters are provided, which also increases reliability. At first, the gasoline Nissan Patrol had an engine capacity of 4.5 liters and two valves per cylinder, with a capacity of 200 hp. In 2003, a six-cylinder 4.8 appeared with four valves per cylinder. The power of the gasoline engine 4.8 - 245l.s. The most powerful all-terrain vehicle Nissan is capable of gaining a speed of 190 kilometers per hour on the highway, and it takes only 11 seconds for a heavy car to accelerate to one hundred kilometers per hour.

    As a gearbox for the Nissan Patrol, a five-speed manual and automatic are provided (at first a four-speed was installed, but later a five-speed appeared).

    The attachment belt in all engines changes at runs of 60 - 80 thousand km.

    Maintenance of the Nissan Patrol Y61 consists in injection every 15,000 km of the propeller shaft crosspieces. Every 40,000 - 60,000 hubs should be lubricated. Racks and bushings of Nissan stabilizers go 60,000 km. Steering tips live 100,000 km, shock absorbers go no less. The car is equipped with a worm-type steering.

    Let's pay attention to the technical characteristics of the Nissan Patrol Y61 3.0 with a manual transmission.

    Price

    The price of a well-maintained Nissan Patrol Y61 is $25,000.

    Despite all the possible breakdowns described above, the Nissan Patrol Y61 is one of the most enduring all-terrain vehicles. With careful operation, this is a very, very durable car.

    The automobile company Nissan Motor Company Ltd has many wonderful cars in its model line. One of them, of course, is "Patrol", which stands out not only among its "namesake", but also among fellow classmates.

    The best feature for the "Patrol" is the fact that in all the "hot" and "roadless" spots of the globe, UN employees carry out their mission using this particular car. Many auto reviewers see it as an "icon" of its class. He deserves it, and, of course, his long pedigree has helped him in this.

    The first generation of this model appeared back in 1951, was created for the needs of the army and resembled the legendary Willys military jeep in appearance. Updates and restyling of this car took place and were presented to the buyers with enviable regularity: in 1960, 1980, 1987 and, finally, in 1997, the fifth generation Nissan Patrol was introduced (in 2004 it was restyled).

    So "Patrol" with the index "Y61" is truly a real SUV with a masculine character and brutal appearance, which characterizes both its exterior and interior. With all his appearance, he demonstrates conservatism and indifference to automotive fashion, because he is designed to work in remote areas and extra "show-offs", at least until recently, he was useless. And the child can accurately describe its appearance: large, square, and at the same time simple. Simplicity is generally the key word for Patrol.

    Inside, it also lacks "bells and whistles", especially in comparison with the updated versions of "classmates" - none: wood, soft leather, chrome and super-V8 engines under the hood. Most likely, therefore, he is inferior in sales to all of them. But on the other hand, it is clear that people who buy such a car are happy, because they are free from their own ego and the desire to pay one and a half times more for a few more comfortable interior details, smoother body lines and a couple of fashionable headlights. In the cabin, everything is quite trivial, but everything is in its place, and at the same time with a solid interior design. The visibility of the interior mirror suffers a little, but this inconvenience is more than offset by large side mirrors. However, the restyling of 2004 still added a little gloss to the interior design: the color scheme became more interesting, the plastic was of better quality.

    About the appearance of the Patrol Y61, not because of "ugliness", but because of simplicity, there is nothing more to say ... it is much more interesting to consider the technical, operational and driving characteristics of this machine.

    The 5th generation Nissan Patrol is based on a classic, corrosion-resistant frame structure, to which continuous axles and dependent suspensions are attached. This base is ideal for heavy off-road use. The plug-in all-wheel drive, blocking the rear cross-axle differential, with relative structural simplicity, makes the car reliable in operation. "Patrol" is able to inspire confidence, respect and a sense of security. One feels the indestructibility of his "cargo" arsenal, and the sensations from the car are similar. If the road meets with serious irregularities, the suspension reacts with undisguised rigidity. A large radius is required to turn, due to the large base. "Patrol" is very good on a straight line, but shows a reluctance to change the direction of its movement, a little late to the steering commands. The car has a mass of 2.5 tons, with a length of 5010 mm (and a seven-seat interior), a trunk volume of 810 liters.

    In terms of power units, the fifth generation machine is equipped with:

    • 4.8 liter R6 petrol engine with 245 hp. with., 5-speed automatic transmission and is capable of speeds up to 190 km / h.
    • or diesel is a 3.0 liter turbodiesel with 160 hp. with 5-speed manual transmission or 4-speed "automatic".

    Fuel consumption is truly immodest: on the highway 15, and in the city 25 liters per 100 km for the gasoline version, the diesel is much more economical - 14 ~ 9 liters per 100 km, respectively.
    Among the operational advantages of the “fifth Patrol”, it is worth highlighting high reliability, a roomy and comfortable interior, and the cross-country ability of a classic SUV.
    By the "cons" - only sensitivity to high-quality and regular maintenance.

    In 2010, this real male car could be bought in two trim levels. Patrol Luxury was offered at a price of ~2 million 67 thousand rubles, and an SUV in the Elegance configuration was sold at a price of 2 million 146 thousand rubles.
