The UltraStar company brings to your attention a new reliable StarLine immobilizer i95 that can protect your vehicle from thieves. This device is a whole system of access to the car engine with a certain set of service and protective functions. Its installation is carried out covertly inside the car. StarLine i95 blocks the engine during the theft or robbery of your vehicle. With the help of electronic tags, a dialogue exchange of codes with the blocking module is implemented to enable the engine to work. Let us consider in more detail the principle of operation of this device.

Operation of the StarLine i95 immobilizer

If you install in your car this system, then to travel on it, you just need to have a label with you. After the label appears in the area of the blocking module, there is an automatic exchange of codes using radio communication between them. Accordingly, when you try to move the machine and there is no connection between the label and the blocking module, the engine is blocked.

It should be noted that the lock is activated only if the car is moving with the engine running. Blocking is not performed if the ignition is on, the tag is not in the reception area, but the machine is at a standstill. This makes it possible to use StarLine i95 without problems together with a variety of automatic and remote start engine.

Blocking principle

The blocking module in this system is active around the clock and is in standby mode for communication with the tag. After the ignition is turned on, when the tag is identified in the reception area, the system issues a short sound signal. But, if by the time the movement started, this communication session did not occur due to the discharge of the tag element, its malfunction, then sound signals are turned on and the engine is blocked. Within 20 seconds the engine is blocked, then there are two more attempts to communicate, after which the engine is blocked until the marks appear.

The main components of the immobilizer

Functioning this device how systems implement multiple modules: blocking module, label and sounder.

Blocking module. It is designed to block the engine by breaking electrical circuit using the contacts of the built-in electromechanical relay. This module is equipped with a built-in three-axis accelerometer, which determines the start of movement. It has three levels of sensitivity, which allows you to almost completely eliminate the possibility of false positives.

Label. This is an electronic key that the car owner should always have with him. It has a button and a three-color LED indicator for displaying the current mode, switching between modes, etc.

sounder. It is installed in the car interior and notifies about the upcoming blocking, as well as for sound indication when adjusting the immobilizer operation parameters.

Main advantages of StarLine i95:

Reliable protection against theft and capture is carried out by blocking the engine.

Automatic recognition of the car owner according to the label it has.

Protected radio channel, which uses hack-resistant encryption.

Built-in motion sensor makes it possible to protect the car and start the engine at the same time.

Function automatic control central locking doors and hood using power outputs to their activators.

Waterproof construction labels provides reliable performance even when exposed to water.

Universal connection channel can be used to receive signals from the brake pedal, touch sensor or limit switches.

Ability to configure and update software immobilizer using the setting app security systems StarLine.

Big energy efficiency achieved through the use of new technologies and software solutions.

Continuing the theme of test reviews, this article is devoted to latest development NPO StarLine - digital immobilizer StarLine i95 Lux with a contactless tag operating at 2.4 GHz.

Equipment

Traditionally, I will start the article with a photo review of the packaging and configuration of the StarLine i95 Lux immobilizer. Like all StarLine products, the StarLine i95 Lux immobilizer is packaged in a colorful and informative package. The box itself has compact dimensions due to the small size of the device.

Appearance

The main unit (if you can call it that) of the StarLine i95 Lux immobilizer is blocking module - the electronic unit in the dust waterproof case with a built-in electromechanical blocking relay, a three-axis motion sensor and a power controller for an electromechanical hood lock. Those. in other words, the form factor of the StarLine i95 Lux immobilizer is a monoblock of control electronics and an engine blocking relay.

Also in the configuration of the StarLine i95 Lux immobilizer there is another electronic unit - display module. It is a small device for providing sound and light indication of the operating modes of the blocking module. At the same time, the feature this module is that it communicates with the blocking module not by wire, but by radio channel, which means it has no electrical connection with it and can be connected to power in any accessible place without reducing the stealth of the main (blocking) block. Additionally, the display module allows you to urgently disable the immobilizer using a PIN code in case of problems with the tag or radio broadcast, it can also be used to reprogram and telematically configure the main blocking module in a visual form using a personal computer.

The StarLine i95 Lux immobilizer tag has a glossy front surface, which creates a “WOW” effect. While new - the gloss is very pleasing to the eye, but over time, as practice shows, the specularity of the glossy surface disappears very quickly and even small scratches become noticeable on it, not to mention fingerprints ...

The dimensions of the tag are not large, but it seems a bit thick... The thickness of the tag is probably due to the fact that it has a moisture-proof body design, which, according to the manufacturer, guarantees reliable operation even after falling into the water. Personally, it is difficult for me to imagine in what situation the moisture resistance of the tag would be in demand, but perhaps it is in demand among auto extreme sportsmen.

There is a button on the label that allows you to control the immobilizer by programming and switching to the "Service mode". Again, the button raises questions, although pressing it is rather difficult - the case is difficult to push through (but it eliminates the risk of accidental pressing).

Filling

It was not possible to open the monoblock of the blocking module - therefore, it was not possible to see how well it was filled with sealant. I didn’t want to spoil the device, because. there is a desire to test the operation of the StarLine i95 Lux immobilizer in a vessel with water. The blocking module that is not filled with sealant looks like this:

Key Features

You can clearly see all the main features of the StarLine i95 Lux immobilizer on the following screenshot taken from the official website of the StarLine company:

Let's dwell on some of them in more detail.

Hood protection
I would like to draw your attention to the fact that StarLine i95-series immobilizers have finally acquired full control electromechanical lock hood. It means that the StarLine i95/i95 Lux immobilizers, unlike the previous StarLine i62/i92 series immobilizers, got the ability to close the hood lock not only when the anti-robbery mode is turned on when the tag disappears, but also to close the lock when the system switches to the armed state - earlier for it required a signal from additional signaling or regular car central locking. The built-in hood lock controller is made on power keys and allows you to connect up to 2 electric locks directly to the immobilizer. Also, in the StarLine i95 Lux immobilizer, two algorithms for the operation of the hood lock controller are implemented - by ignition state or by the appearance of a label.
Hands free mode
Additionally, in the StarLine i95 Lux immobilizer, the ability to control car door locks is implemented in software. This function is technically implemented on the hood lock controller, so it is possible to connect anything to the controller - either the hood lock or door locks.

This mode has several programmable operation algorithms - completely automatic operation by finding/disappearing of the tag or operation when the radio channel of the immobilizer is always on and there is a constant search for the tag. Or it is possible to organize the work of free hands on an additional external event (pressing a button / touching the sensor), without which the search for a tag does not start. It should be noted that door lock control can be implemented as a power control - by direct connection to the door lock drives, or as a low-current control - by negative pulses at the controller outputs. It is also possible to organize automatic closing central locking at the beginning of the movement.

Manual and telematic setup

Customization required parameters StarLine i95 Lux immobilizer can be produced in two ways:
- using the label manually
- using a personal computer

Configuration using a computer - the so-called Telematic, is carried out by connecting the "display module" to a computer using a Micro-USB cable. In this case, the main unit (blocking module) must be powered, and the PC must be software"StarLine Master", which can be freely downloaded from the site www.starline.ru. Telematic setting greatly simplifies the process of programming the parameters of the immobilizer, because. makes it clear and understandable, so I will pay special attention to it.

When the display module is connected to a PC, the StarLine Master program itself recognizes the connected device and prompts you to enter the service code indicated on the plastic card from the kit.

For some reason, the first time the program did not want to connect to the device, and after entering the service code, it gave the following error:

After repeating the procedure for entering the program several times, the connection was finally successful and the following window opened, in which all possible parameters for configuration were indicated.

To program the parameters, you need to press the field with the already programmed item opposite the name of each and then a drop-down list opens with complete list parameters from which you need to choose the one you need.

After selecting the necessary parameters, click save and the program reports on the successful saving of the settings:

Setting using the label is done by entering numerical values using the button on the label, in accordance with the StarLine i95 Lux immobilizer programming table, available on pages 31-33 of the installation manual. The number in the Parameter column corresponds to the number of label button presses at the moment the green LED is on, in the Value column - at the moment the red LED is on.

Installation

Although the external terminals of the main unit are made with a wire of the same color - black, they have a white marking that helps with installation.

The blocking module has only 9 outputs, with a fairly rigid functional purpose:
GND - Ground (-)
BAT - Nutrition (
IGN - Ignition
NO - Normally open relay contact
NC - Normal closed contact relay
COM - Common relay contact
UNLOCK - Opening the door lock (or hood)
LOCK - Closing the door lock (or hood)
INPUT - Door limit switch input (or hood)
OUTPUT - status output
EXT - Universal channel

Naturally, during installation, not all of them can be connected - everything will depend on the intended implementation, but if the minimum anti-theft complex based on the StarLine i95 Lux immobilizer - blocking + hood lock without additional service functions, you will need to connect almost all the wires, except for the 2-x status output and the universal channel. The display module generally has minimal connections - to the ignition and ground.

It should be noted that the wires of the external terminals of the blocking module are short - about 25 cm, which will lead to the need to extend them. Why is it bad? - the fact that the build-up involves an additional connection ... and why is it needed if you could do without it. However, this is typical for the blocking relay of almost all manufacturers, but the StarLine i95 Lux immobilizer blocking module is not just a blocking relay, but still the main unit and has a much larger number of wires, incl. and service low-current, and almost all of these wires will have to be increased by the installer. a little strange constructive solution- especially considering that the blocking module itself is nevertheless made waterproof - i.e. involves installation in aggressive places. And it turns out that nine twists of extended wire connections will live in this aggressive place.

Another interesting point I want to note the following installation recommendation from the installation instructions:

It's nice when the manufacturer seems to give a recommendation to the installer, but at the same time gives the car owner a hint HOW IT SHOULD NOT BE after installing the system - in general, I think comparing such a picture with what I saw under the hood will give food for thought about the quality of the installation ... And there are enough examples of buggy installations (

The Starline i95 immobilizer is a machine engine blocker designed to prevent not only theft, but also the robbery of a car. The electronic mechanism of this modification is a device high reliability thanks to the identification of the owner by a contactless tag at a frequency of 2.4 GHz.

Delivery set of engine blocker Two radio tags for immo control

Main functions

Description of blocker options:

  1. The presence of two modes of protection of the vehicle. In the usual diagnostics of the presence of a radio tag is carried out once, after the ignition switch is turned on. When the anti-robbery mode is activated, the check of the electronic key is performed constantly, during the entire trip.
  2. Lock activation power unit at the start of the movement. This allows the use of the immobilizer together with automatic and remote engine start systems.
  3. Reliable immo protection against detection of engine blocking circuits. The activation of the device is carried out for a short time, but this time will be enough to stop the power unit. The circuit will then remain closed.
  4. Indication of the current mode of the immobilizer on the electronic key, as well as on the control unit.
  5. Option to change the type of operation of the blocker using a radio tag.
  6. The presence of a service mode. With it, you can disable the security options of the device if the vehicle is transferred for service.
  7. Setting mode. The function allows you to reprogram the unlock pin code.
  8. Link quality check option. The device automatically diagnoses the connection of all elements.
  9. Function of registration of devices of blocking of the engine. This will allow you to calibrate additional elements such as blocking relay.
  10. The presence of the option of controlling the central lock in automatic mode.

Starline i95 modifications

The main difference between Starline models i95 Lux and Eco is the lack of the "Hands Free" option for the Eco modification blocker.

The Eco model from the immobilizer line is the most affordable option in terms of cost and belongs to the class contactless systems. The Lux blocker is the most modernized in terms of functionality - the user has the ability to adjust the range of the transceiver to authorize the owner. This model has a remote label equipped with an LED and a control key (it is used to emergency shutdown devices).

Differences between the i95, i95 Lux and i95 Eco models:

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages:

  1. Protection of the vehicle from theft by blocking the engine.
  2. The ability to identify the owner of the car by radio tag. In its absence, the blocking will not turn off.
  3. The use of a secure communication channel for data transmission, which prevents the possibility of intercepting impulses.
  4. Using the built-in motion sensor. The engine lock will not be disabled if an unauthorized entry into the vehicle interior is detected.
  5. The electronic key for controlling the immobilizer is supplied in a waterproof case. This prevents the tag from breaking due to exposure to water.
  6. Availability of a universal communication channel. This provides the ability to connect limit switches, additional sensors, as well as a brake pedal controller to the immobilizer.
  7. Possibility of setting the main functions of the blocking device using a computer.

The main disadvantage of Starline i95 immobilizers, according to reviews, is the high price for which you can purchase a full-fledged alarm system with an engine blocker.

How to install immobilizer?

Before installing the blocker, you will need to turn off the ignition, all electrical equipment and power to onboard network. To do this, under the hood, the negative terminal is disconnected from the battery. After disconnection, it is not allowed to connect it to the body, as this will lead to a short circuit and battery failure.

Detailed installation instructions are included with the immobilizer.

Power connection

Power connection features:

  1. The contact element, marked as "GND", is connected to the "mass" of the car. The wire can be connected to any standard bolt installed on the body.
  2. To power the device, the “BAT” contact is used, and the voltage on it must always be. Therefore, this conductor should be connected directly to the battery or other unit that is constantly on.
  3. At connecting Starline i95 pin "IGN" is connected to the electrical circuit, which receives 12-volt voltage when the ignition and engine are turned on.

Connecting outputs

Contact elements "Lock" and "Unlock" are used to control the central lock or hood lock.

The main lock control methods, outputs, signals for opening and closing are shown in the table:

The contact element "Input" must be connected to the appropriate limit switch. Such a connection will provide the ability to monitor the status of the locks on the hood and doors. If they are open, then locking is not performed, therefore, on this cable, when open capote and the doors should have a negative signal.

The “Output” contact makes it possible to use the blocker in conjunction with external equipment to monitor the presence of the car owner in the cabin.

It works like this:

  1. If there is no electronic key in the coverage area or if it is at a distance, the resistance on the wire will be high. Accordingly, the contact must be open.
  2. Activation of the "mass" or negative contact is performed when the owner with the label is near the transceiver.

Sound detector connection

Features of connecting a sound detector:

  1. The "Output" contact must be connected to the negative terminal of the beeper, and the plus - to the "BAT" cable on the unit.
  2. If necessary, you can connect the LED bulb to the buzzer in parallel. But it is necessary to add a resistor element designed for 1-2 kOhm to the electrical circuit.
  3. When installing the buzzer, it must be positioned so that its signals are not muffled and are audible to the driver.
  4. The beeper should not be placed next to a blocking module, as this will lead to false positives of the motion controller.

Universal channel connection

Contact element "EXT" can be connected to one of the outputs:

  1. Plus the brake pedal. It is used to poll the device before starting to block the engine, if the "Anti-theft" function is enabled.
  2. Plus limit switch. Used to determine the state door locks or hood. Its use is advisable on vehicles with a 12-volt potential on the device, if the described lock products are open.
  3. Negative contact of the touch controller (this controller is not included in the package and must be installed separately). With the "Hands Free" option enabled, if the electronic key is within the range of action, the central lock will open only after receiving a sensor pulse. The impulse is transmitted to the locked doors when the radio tag is removed or the controller is exposed to it for a long time.
  4. Negative tail light output rated at 400 mA. This element is used to alert other drivers to stop the vehicle before blocking the power unit. Warning light pulses in the cabin are duplicated by stoplight signals.
  5. Negative exit to side lights rated at 400 mA. This element is used for light indication of automatic opening and closing of door locks. When a signal is given to lock, the marker lights will blink once. Together with the impulse to open the door locks, the headlights will flash twice.

Wiring diagrams

Connection diagrams are shown in the photo:

General map for connecting the control unit

Manual

According to the instruction manual, before using the blocker, it is necessary to install a working power source in the electronic key. To do this, remove the back cover of the tag and insert a battery into it, taking into account the polarity. An LED indicator will indicate that the device is turned on. If new electronic keys are being programmed, it is not necessary to insert a battery.

Key fob and its activation

Key Programming Guide:

  1. The ignition is switched on. Wait until the immobilizer beeps. Then the ignition is turned off.
  2. Then it is activated again, while the blocker should emit a series sound signals. To unlock, you need to know the code that is indicated on the plastic card. The ignition must be turned off at the moment when the number of beeps corresponds to the first digit of the password.
  3. The procedure for entering the remaining characters of the code is carried out similarly. The ignition is turned on, and if the immobilizer accepts the password, three sound pulses will sound. This indicates that the blocker has entered the emergency unlock menu.
  4. The next step is to enter programming mode. After switching on the ignition, one long beep will sound after twenty seconds. The system shuts down while the pulse is playing.
  5. The ignition is turned on again. Seven short sound pulses should be heard, which indicates the entry into the registration menu for new key fobs.
  6. The radio button is pressed. Holding it in this state, it is necessary to install in the key new source nutrition. The key is pressed for three seconds.
  7. If the tag is successfully bound, the LED element on the key will begin to flicker green. The number of blinks corresponds to the total number of programmed key fobs. If the binding is not completed, the LED will glow red.
  8. To transfer the electronic tag to the normal mode of operation, it is necessary to remove and reinsert the battery from it.
  9. The actions described in paragraphs 6-7 are repeated for each programmable key.
  10. After completing the task, turn off the ignition. All radio tags must be registered in one binding cycle, in total, up to four keys can be programmed.

Door lock control

When the "Hands free" function is activated, the doors are opened on the following events:

  • the approach of the car owner with an electronic key to the vehicle standing still (the radius of action is programmed by the user);
  • turning off the ignition system (if this function is previously configured);
  • transition to the emergency unlocking menu of the immobilizer, if the pin code is successfully entered;
  • enter service mode.

The door locks are closed when the car owner with the electronic key moves away from the immobilizer control unit. Deactivation is carried out at the beginning of the movement, if the additional locking function has been previously set.

If the universal channel "EXT" is used, the closing of the door locks is carried out by a long action of three seconds on the presence controller. In this case, the electronic key must be within the range of action.

Signals to open the locks when using the "EXT" channel are given if:

  • the hand touch controller worked when the radio tag is within the range of the transceiver;
  • the ignition is turned off if the user has previously configured this function;
  • the emergency unlock menu is entered if the code was entered correctly;
  • going into service mode.

Hood lock control

The signals to lock the hood are transmitted to the control unit when the car owner with the tag moves away from the vehicle. In this case, the ignition system must be switched off. Also, the lock product will close when pulses are issued warning of the upcoming blocking of the power unit.

The lock is opened if:

  • the ignition in the car is turned on, and the tag is within the range of the transceiver;
  • the menu for emergency unlocking of the immobilizer is entered;
  • a car owner with an electronic key enters the coverage area of the control module;
  • service mode is entered.

User Andrey Popov spoke about the control of the Starline i95 blocker using the example of a Hyundai Grand Stareks car.

Service mode

Entering the service mode is done as follows:

  1. A key on the electronic key is pressed and held. The immobilizer must diagnose the specified mode of operation and establish communication with the control unit. The RFID tag button is pressed for seven seconds until the LED starts blinking yellow.
  2. At the moment when the light on the label lights up for 2 seconds, the button is released. The entry into the service mode of the engine blocker will be indicated by a single blinking of the LED.

Display module programming

An additional block is attached like this:

  1. The power cord is connected to the device.
  2. After activation, automatic control of the communication channel is performed. The end of this procedure occurs ten seconds before the end of the flickering of the diode bulb.
  3. The button on the display unit is pressed and held for three seconds, then it must be released.
  4. When the module is successfully bound, the LED light will blink green. Otherwise, the flicker will be red.
  5. To exit the programming menu, the ignition is turned off.

Approximate prices for the purchase of an engine blocker:

Video

Auto electrician Sergey Zaitsev spoke about the features of controlling and configuring the Starline engine blocker.

StarLine i95- new generation car immobilizer. The principle of operation is based on the identification of the owner using a special label. The tag is protected from moisture, even if you lower it under water, it will remain operational. A motion sensor is built into the main body, which allows StarLine i95 to work adequately with the engine start modules. The principle is simple: the engine starts on command, but the movement of the car is impossible without an immobilizer tag.

Under control StarLine i95 there may be a hood latch. This immobilizer has a very convenient setting and quick switching of operating modes.

Operating modes

Immobilizer StarLine i95 able to work in one of two modes:

  • Anti-robbery- protects against sudden seizure of the car, constantly monitors the presence of a tag within a radius of five meters. Otherwise it blocks the engine.
