Everything about the weaknesses of the Mitsubishi ACX (photo and video). What are the disadvantages of Mitsubishi ASX according to reviews We do not drive on three wheels

At the very beginning of 2013, it became known about a minor restyling for the compact ASX SUV, as a result of which the car received a different finish for some interior elements, and also underwent improvements in appearance. But, despite this, the manufacturer decided not to increase the cost of the car, which means that in the salons of official dealers, the updated SUV can be purchased at the prices of last year's lineup.

Recall that the Mitsubishi ACX compact SUV was created on the basis of the Concept-cX concept car, shown back in 2007. The first production cars rolled off the assembly line in 2010. This car is based on the Project Global universal platform, which makes it similar to the Outlander XL and Lancer X. And in the abbreviation "ASX", the manufacturer encrypted the main concept that the developers relied on when creating this crossover, and in full it reads like Active Sport X -over or "crossover for active driving."

A clear adherence to this concept can already be seen in the appearance of the car. The compact Mitsubishi ACX crossover is dynamic and modern, and in some details it looks like a full-fledged aggressive SUV, ready for any difficulties in its path.

The restyling of 2013 gave this model new bumpers, while the front bumper was especially updated - it became more solid due to getting rid of the massive lower contrasting insert and changing the shape of the fog lamp seat. The design of the radiator grille has also undergone minor changes. In addition, there are more chrome elements in the exterior trim, which added elegance and style to the car.

Dimensions have not changed: 4295x1770x1625 mm. The wheelbase is still 2670 mm and the ground clearance is 195 mm. All the same impressive trunk volume - 415 liters (despite the fact that a full-size spare wheel is hidden underground).

There was no global revision of the interior of the crossover during restyling. The five-seat interior layout has been retained, the location of the control elements on the front panel and center console has also remained virtually unchanged. Of the striking changes, we note the presence of a new steering wheel, the use of more expensive seat trim materials, the appearance of chrome inserts on the door panels, the use of a different audio system and a new navigation module with support for SD memory cards for loading additional navigation maps.

Otherwise, the interior of the Mitsubishi ASX 2014-2015 model year has retained its previously laid down high ergonomics and a good level of comfort.

Specifications. In Russia and the CIS countries, the 2015 Mitsubishi ACX crossover is offered only with gasoline engines, while in Europe and the USA a modification with a diesel power unit is also available, which it was decided not to use in our country due to the low quality of diesel fuel, which can be very a short period (much less than the warranty period) to render the engine unusable.

However, the range of gasoline engines in this “Mitsubishi SUV” is quite wide - it includes three engines that can satisfy the needs of any buyer:

  • The youngest in this line is the 4A92 four-cylinder power unit, developed back in 2004 by MDC Power, but later subjected to a number of improvements. This engine has a working volume of 1.6 liters (1590 cm³) and is capable of developing up to 117 hp. at 6100 rpm. Each cylinder has 4 valves controlled by the MIVEC electronic valve timing system. The engine is built on the basis of an all-aluminum block, equipped with an ECU-MULTI distributed injection system and has a timing chain drive with two DOHC camshafts. The maximum torque of this power unit is at around 154 Nm at 4000 rpm, which makes it easy to accelerate the crossover to 183 km/h or accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.4 seconds. The 4A92 engine meets the requirements of the Euro-4 standard and has very decent performance characteristics: the average fuel consumption of the AI-95 class in the city does not exceed 7.8 liters, on the suburban highway, gasoline consumption drops to 5.0 liters, and in mixed driving mode the car consumes about 6.1 liters of fuel.
  • The second in the line of engines for ACX is the unit with the index 4V10, also entirely made of aluminum and having four cylinders with an in-line arrangement. Like the previous engine, the 4V10 is equipped with an ECU-MULTI multipoint injection system, DOHC camshafts and MIVEC electronic valve timing control. The engine was built on the basis of the GEMA platform, in the development of which Mitsubishi, Hyundai and Chrysler participated. The working volume of this power unit is 1.8 liters or 1798 cm³, and the maximum power reaches 140 hp. at 6000 rpm. Torque peaks at 177 Nm at 4200 rpm, allowing the crossover to easily reach 186 km/h of top speed or lift the needle from 0 to 100 km/h in 13.1 seconds. The engine also complies with the Euro-4 environmental standard, and its fuel consumption in the city is about 9.8 liters. On the highway, the 4V10 engine consumes 6.4 liters of AI-95 gasoline, and in the mixed driving mode, the average consumption will be about 7.6 liters.
  • The 4B11 unit, also built on the GEMA platform, was chosen as the flagship gasoline engine for A-X-X. In terms of equipment with electronic and other systems, nothing new is added in this version, but the working volume of four cylinders has been increased to 2.0 liters (1998 cm³). The power of the power unit using AI-92 fuel has increased to 150 hp. at 6000 rpm, and the peak torque is 197 Nm at 4200 rpm. The capabilities of the 4B11 engine make it possible to accelerate the updated crossover to 188 km / h, while the acceleration time to the first hundred on the speedometer will be about 11.9 seconds. You can’t call an economical engine, but this can be attributed to the costs of using all-wheel drive: 6.8 liters on the highway, 10.5 liters in the city and 8.1 liters in mixed driving mode.

As for the transmission, the junior power unit is equipped exclusively with a five-speed manual gearbox, while the other two engines are aggregated with a continuously variable variator. The automatic all-wheel drive system is installed only in modifications with the flagship engine and has three modes of operation, selected at the touch of a button on the central tunnel: 2WD, 4WD AUTO and 4WD LOCK. Junior engines are installed on cars with front-wheel drive.

Improvements and some changes in the suspension settings of the updated Mitsubishi ASX in 2013 made it possible to significantly improve the driving capabilities of the car, bringing the quality of the suspension closer to the Outlander XL level. The crossover received stiffer front levers, new silent blocks, as well as reconfigured shock absorbers. The front still uses MacPherson struts and an anti-roll bar. At the rear, a multi-link suspension system is used. On all wheels, the manufacturer installed a ventilated disc brake system with discs with a diameter of 11.6 inches. As a steering mechanism, a rack and pinion type is used, supplemented by a modern electric booster.

Options and prices. Mitsubishi ASX in 2015 is offered to Russian buyers in a very wide range of trim levels:

  • ACX modifications with a junior engine have three types of equipment: Inform for 989,000 rubles, Invite for 1,069,990 rubles and Intense for 1,129,990 rubles.
  • The 1.8-liter engine is offered in Invite, Intense and Instyle trim levels. The price in this case varies in the range from 1,189,990 to 1,359,990 rubles.
  • The choice of the flagship engine implies an even greater variety of equipment options, with "Invite", "Intense" and "Instyle" being added "Ultimate" and "Exclusive". The cost of "ASX" with such a motor, respectively, starts at 1,379,990 rubles, and for the maximum exclusive equipment, you will have to pay at least 1,699,990 rubles.

We add that the above prices are relevant for cars painted in basic white. Those who decide to choose a different body color will have to fork out an additional 14,000 rubles.

The spectacular design of the SUV with strict lines of the wedge-shaped body is consistent with the overall stylistic concept of the brand, although it has its own characteristic and recognizable features.

In the exterior of the car it is worth noting:

  • Headlights. The expressive halogen head optics are equipped with LED daytime running lights.
  • Radiator grille. The massive trapezoidal radiator grille gives the car solidity.
  • Rear view mirrors. Heated, electrically adjustable side mirrors with integrated turn signals are painted in body color.
  • Wheel disks. Stylish 17" light-alloy wheels emphasize the elegant exterior of the car.

Interior

In a spacious five-seater cabin with high-quality finishing materials, the following interior elements provide comfort to the driver and passengers of the Mitsubishi ACX:

  • Ergonomic seats. Comfortable front seats are equipped with heating, the driver's seat is electric.
  • Multifunction steering wheel. The heated leather-wrapped steering wheel houses the controls for the multimedia system, cruise control and HandsFree.
  • Dashboard. The intuitive instrument panel is equipped with a high-contrast color information screen.
  • Infotainment system. The Mitsubishi Connect multimedia complex with the ability to integrate a smartphone is equipped with 4 or 6 speakers.

Whole photoshoot

The updated compact crossover Mitsubishi ASX was presented at the New York Auto Show in the spring of 2017. And already in the autumn, its sales in Russia began, or rather, resumed. The model has undergone subtle changes... why?

By and large, maybe it was not worth changing anything in it. As we know from the famous commercial, Japanese cuisine is balanced, so the representative of the Japanese car industry with three diamonds on the emblem is also balanced, nowhere better. On the one hand, it is compact, on the other hand, it is roomy, as they say, inside is larger than outside. Put it next to the Russian LADA XRay and you will see that the two models are very close in size. But how much more spacious in the "Japanese"! I will not compare "numbers", I will only give my measurements. The interior width of the ASX rear is 137 cm, the front is 146 cm, the distance “behind me” is 26 cm. The XRay interior is clearly smaller in all dimensions.

But the two cars are now similar in design: the ASX has chrome-plated “boomerang” inserts on the front bumper, very reminiscent of the Xray ones. Also, vertical strips of LED daytime running lights are now integrated into the front bumper. LED steel and headlights, slightly changed shape. The rear bumper has changed, the updated crossover is easy to distinguish by a kind of lining in its lower part.

In general, the car retained well-balanced proportions, but, unfortunately, this betrays a sad fact: the company saved on updates. The model obviously lacks brightness, “highlights”, thanks to which it would stand out among a considerable number of similar competitors. You won’t shine among them with just chrome on the bumper, and pseudo-ventilation stickers on the wings only emphasize the “age”: these have long been out of fashion. The new body color - Alloy Silver - in my opinion, only "ages" the car. Much more suited to him was the exclusive turquoise color, designed specifically for the first generation ASX. This color scheme was called “kawasemi”, which is the Japanese name for the kingfisher bird, painted by nature in this color.

There is speculation that the manufacturer deliberately minimized updates in order to introduce an all-new ASX with more fanfare in the near future. But this is just a guess.

In fact, the compact crossover is not that old, the concept car dates back to 2007, the serial production of the model started in 2010. Updates then occurred more than once, but the model remained well recognizable. The neat, neat box body of the Japanese company definitely succeeded outwardly and, with relatively small dimensions (length - 4.3 m), turned out to be very spacious inside. Will this recognizable silhouette survive in the future? It seems unlikely. The alliance with Nissan will likely bring the ASX design closer to the Qashqai's entourage. In general, this is also not bad, but the originality of the model will disappear.

Now they only tried to embellish it, but how successfully? Chrome trim on the exterior door handles dates back to the 90s of the last century. However, the maximum configuration of Instyle (about 1.5 million rubles) stands out not only for this. Its shiny handles show off the black keyless entry buttons. It also shines with LED headlights.

But the interior, as they say, does not shine ... There are few changes in it, although they are noticeable. A multimedia system with a 7-inch color screen and a single control knob appeared here - the display is made entirely of touch. It has few functions (the ASX photos for foreign markets show a much more advanced device). And it's still nice. So there is a rear-view camera, although its “peephole” is easily contaminated to complete invisibility.

The slightly reshaped center console and the new location of the cupholders on the center tunnel can go unnoticed. But the leather handle of the variator selector is clearly visible. Finishing materials have become better, nobler. True, a well-assembled interior does not exempt from the thought of retro style. Everything here is too traditional, without the slightest modernism, which is not so much a necessity in terms of practicality as a requirement of the time. Do you want to be successful in the market? Learn to constantly update yourself, at least sham. Today, the trend is brightness, unusual interior design, if you want - space "motives". ASX in this regard is very "down to earth". And the devices of a completely new test version resemble a very “running” copy. Is it so? No, just someone turned down the dash lights to dim.

The on-board computer is also a greeting from the past. It has a minimum of features. The graphics are logical to the limit (the device is similar to the Outlander one), but I would like to read more “news” on this screen. But the interior of the ASX is not reproached for squeaking, even when driving off-road. The only "cricket" was hooked here ... in the dealership. Extraneous sound comes from under the lining of the left A-pillar, on which the security system LED appeared.

The three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel is a definite plus. Climate control (also available only in the maximum version of Instyle) is controlled by standard-looking round knobs, nothing new here. The front seats (in the top - leather), in general, please both in size and in the feeling of lateral support. The 137-centimeter width of the rear sofa can please three passengers. Parts of the back of the sofa are folded, thus forming a flat floor, and the volume of the trunk increases from the nominal 384 liters to 1219 liters, that is, three times. The loading height is 75 cm, there is no threshold for the trunk. Under the raised floor is a spare tire.

Torque distribution

There are two engine options for the updated Mitsubishi ASX, both with the proprietary MIVEC variable valve timing system. The 1.6-liter petrol engine develops 117 hp. With. power and 154 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. The second gasoline unit is both "volume" (2.0 l) and more powerful: 150 hp. With. and 197 Nm. A diesel crossover with a 4N13 engine (Euro-5, DOHC, MIVEC, Common Rail, variable geometry turbine) is not supplied to our country: it is believed that the quality of our fuel is insufficient for it.

With a two-liter gasoline engine, the crossover accelerates from standstill to hundreds in 11.7 seconds, and although this figure is not impressive, in fact, you cannot blame this car for a lack of dynamics. He's a real live guy! Moreover, despite the fact that the passport torque is achieved at 4200 rpm, a powerful increase in traction can be felt already at 2000 rpm.

The updated Mitsubishi ASX is built on the proprietary GS platform. MacPherson struts are used in the front suspension, and a set of transverse levers in the rear. Brakes - disc front and rear. The steering mechanism - with the electric booster. The steering wheel, by modern standards, is “long”: almost three and a half turns from lock to lock.

The engine and transmission control system (here CVT) is sensitive to the driver's mood. If he is in a hurry and drowns the gas pedal, the response of the car is accelerated. With a relatively calm pace of movement, traction in the operating speed range develops evenly, without pickup.

The variator also changes gears smoothly, without noticeable shocks. Manual mode becomes available by pressing any of the paddles at any time while driving. Automation will not allow erroneous switching either up or down. Does it make sense to use manual mode to improve overclocking? In the case of the 150 hp ASX, yes. In D mode, the car accelerates from 80 to 120 km/h in about 8 seconds. In fifth gear, this time increases to 12 s, while in fourth it is reduced to 7 s. There is acceleration.

During acceleration, the engine does not “roar”, and in general, relative silence reigns in the cabin at high speed. The oncoming air flow starts to make noise only at 120-130 km / h, and even then it is not too intrusive. Pebbles on the wheel arches do not beat. In theory, huge exterior mirrors should worsen aerodynamics, but I would not change them to smaller ones. There is no standard blind spot tracking system in the ASX arsenal, but you can get it for an extra charge.

Naturally, the car does not control the markings, does not taxi into the lane. This is the fate of more expensive models, although such features are becoming cheaper and more affordable. Perhaps one will appear on the latest ASX (as it became known, its premiere is scheduled for 2020). In the meantime, the crossover demonstrates stability even without it on straight high-speed sections, does not require grabbing the steering wheel. And it maneuvers in the stream with not so noticeable rolls. And quickly, which you do not expect from a relatively “long” steering mechanism.

Unfortunately, the side mirrors do not help keep the front door windows clean from dirt in slushy weather. It gradually dries up and forms a gray opaque layer along the bottom of the windows. And the glass of the fifth door is dirty to the point of complete invisibility (“the janitor”, of course, is), and the spoiler, perhaps, only aggravates the situation. "Gets" a lot of dirt and the lens of the rear view camera.

High efficiency is not the “horse” of a two-liter Japanese crossover, but you can count on a reasonable consumption of 7.5 liters of gasoline per 100 km when driving on the highway without breaking the speed limit. The city indicator is about 11 liters. Important note: the engine easily "digests" the 92nd gasoline. This is a good trump card for Mitsubishi crossovers.

We don't ride on three wheels

It so happened that I read the owner's manual for the ASX model after I returned from an off-road trip. No, in general, I managed to figure out all the systems without prompts, in fact, in the thick Manual I was interested in only one item: the indication of all-wheel drive modes. I didn't find what I needed. It was necessary to find out at what speed the 4WD LOCK symbol on the instrument panel turns off. At 40 km / h and even a little higher, it was still on, I had to turn it off by pressing the mode button. The guide did not reveal this secret to me.

And so - everything is clear without him. The modes of the branded all-wheel drive transmission Multi-Select 4WD are changed by pressing the button “in a circle”: 2WD - 4WD AUTO - 4WD LOCK - 2WD, etc. The instruction recommends using the 4WD AUTO position when driving on hard surfaces in difficult weather conditions (snow, slush), and 4WD LOCK mode to use off-road. And try not to slip at the same time, and also not to go down steep slopes. In general, after the fact, I found out that I acted strictly contrary to the recommendations of the company, because I crawled down the hills just from the bottom of my heart. The chosen shooting location provided me with a lot of slopes of varying degrees of steepness, and, I must say, the car coped with all the obstacles confidently. And where he could not cope, we “retreated” in time, and the tests ended without loss.

Known in Russia as ASX (abbreviation stands for Active Sport X-over), Mitsubishi's compact crossover overseas is called the Outlander Sport. It should not be confused: the Sport prefix in our market is carried by the larger Outlander, equipped with a three-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 230 hp. With. The American version of the ASX, unlike the Russian one, can have an “Outlander” 2.4-liter engine with a capacity of 170 hp under the hood. With. paired with a variator.

So, having directed the crossover to a series of steep low hillocks, I easily achieved diagonal hanging. But it was not that that prevented us from moving forward, but the fact that the front right wheel rested against a recess in front of a thick tree root. The car did not take this step. Disabling the stabilization and traction control system did not help: having slipped, the crossover simply doused itself on the very roof with sand fans, but did not move forward. I had to give up and go around the obstacle on a less steep route.

On the next descent, he hung out again, and strongly, which I did not expect at all. As well as the fact that the car doors in this position began to close a little worse, in contrast to the horizontal plane. But the company stated that the torsional rigidity of the body increased after restyling. But the crossover rolled down without difficulty, after which it easily climbed onto the opposite slope of the ravine. Here, during a test a few months ago, a front-wheel drive crossover of a Korean company went on strike. The “Japanese” is not a competitor in design, but it is close in price, and I would rather vote with a ruble for an all-wheel drive transmission, even if the cars changed countries of origin. In general, it is clear that even with a great love for fishing and spending time outdoors, you don’t get off-road very often, moreover, you usually plan its possible “severity” depending on what kind of car is under you. But what a pleasure it is - to boldly, confidently climb such slopes, relatively harmless ravines! If I had known that I would be so lucky with the weather, I would have taken a mountain bike with me. True, perhaps, he would be cramped in the trunk of the ASX, even with the second row of seats folded down.

Well, if the opposite slope of the ravine is flowers, then maybe climb up along the same route that you went down? The first attempt fails: the car stops when the left front wheel hits a recess, which, during the descent, provoked diagonal hanging. We skid, but not for long, and give up. I turn on the inter-axle clutch lock - it does not help. Showering itself with sand, ASX again hangs at the level of this notch. On the third attempt, with a set speed, the obstacle was not taken again, there would still be acceleration, but there is a danger of slipping sideways and scratching the metal of the body on the high edge of the track.

For the fourth time, I try to climb up to the right, out of the rut, along the grass. And here there is not enough speed, and its set is again fraught with the danger of slipping sideways onto a large hard stump. No, we're retreating. Taking a last look at the untaken slope from below, I saw that a Land Cruser Prado had driven up to it from above. I had to wave my hand to the driver, saying, get down, there is not the slightest danger for you here. But I did not have time - the SUV turned and drove around the ravine on a flat road. Was it really that cool? It doesn't seem like much...

Getting through a bumpy dirt road with a breeze is, in general, for the ASX, but not for its passengers. Suspension endures, holds blows, avoiding breakdowns. The rear axle does not tend to get off the ground in turns and jump to the side. But at the same time, it is too hard inside, even for the driver. You'd rather be thrown out of your seat than lose control.

As an option for the Mitsubishi ASX, a Touring Package is offered, which includes additional noise and vibration isolation of the body, a panoramic roof with a sunroof, as well as electronic systems for avoiding passing collisions, lane control and automatic high / low beam switching.

And with it, in fact, it is very easy and pleasant to deal with it if the ground is relatively even and slightly loose under the wheels. On a sandy platform, the car, slightly restrained by the stabilization system, perfectly describes even circles, regardless of the choice of transmission mode. I turn off the system - almost the same thing. The radius of the circles almost does not increase, the rear axle does not blow away so much, although it clearly picks up, and the fountains of sand from under the wheels grow. Very well controlled car!

Of course, the update of the model, carried out in 2017, is designed to increase interest in it in our market, and in the world too. But, in my opinion, it turned out to be very modest, too economical. Competitors - and ASX has a dime a dozen of them - have long been flaunting brighter design solutions. So the innovations in the appearance of the model, rather, are designed for its adherents, as well as conservatives. This, in fact, is a signal: hurry up to buy a crossover in its current form, it will no longer be so neat, balanced. In the future, something too prominent, too catchy will certainly appear in his entourage. This will increase the recognition of the model, since modesty has not been in the market for a long time. But the unique "balance" will go away, and with it the old, very favorable prices. Brighter competitors are sometimes a quarter more expensive, but do not have all-wheel drive. Here, the 4x4 transmission coexists paired with excellent handling, predictable off-road behavior. In my opinion, it is worth sacrificing design. And on the ASX side - the Japanese assembly.

The new Mitsubishi ASX is presented on our market in four versions: Inform, Invite, Intense and Instyle. Two "senior" configurations are equipped with a two-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 150 liters. With. paired with a variator. The 1.6-liter 117-horsepower engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. All-wheel drive is only available with the 2.0-liter engine. The standard equipment of the basic version of Inform (1,099,000 rubles) includes ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, central locking, immobilizer, front and side airbags and air conditioning. The Invite package (1,139,000 rubles) offers heated front seats and an audio system. The Intense variant (1,189,000 or 1,339,000 rubles, depending on engine power and drive type) is equipped with a hill start assistant, an on-board computer, 17-inch alloy wheels, a multifunction steering wheel and roof rails. The maximum Instyle configuration (1,479,000 rubles) is distinguished by the presence of a rear-view camera, light and rain sensors, an engine start / stop button, manual gearshift paddles, a multimedia system with a color touch screen, climate and cruise control.

The Mitsubishi ASX is equipped with a three-mode all-wheel drive system All-Wheel Control. In 2WD mode, only front-wheel drive is used, which allows you to save fuel. In 4 WD Auto, torque energy is automatically distributed between the wheels. The uniformity of distribution depends on the weather and the quality of the roadway. The 4WD Lock mode is useful off-road: it works together with other electronic systems (ABS, ASTC, EBD, HSA), which ensures not only high cross-country ability, but also maximum comfort for the driver and passengers.

Ideal for the city

Urban crossovers are one of the fastest growing segments in the automotive industry. Mitsubishi ASX is a bright representative of this direction. The car has a solid design: dynamic body lines, a large chrome grille, aggressive xenon headlights with automatic leveling.

The side mirrors of the model are painted in body color, have an electric drive for adjustments and folding, are equipped with additional turn signals, and heating. The rear spoiler gives an aggressive and sporty character, improves the aerodynamic properties of the model. The car is equipped with LED taillights and running lights (LED DRL).

You can buy Mitsubishi ASX 2018-2019 in red, blue, black, silver, pearl white or gray metallic design. The car is equipped with 16 or 17-inch alloy wheels, has tinted rear and rear side windows.

The model has relatively compact dimensions and a spacious interior: it can comfortably accommodate up to 5 people. The seats are equipped with lateral support, the steering wheel is comfortable in girth, it has control buttons for additional functions. Trunk volume is 415 liters. The car is equipped with a full-fledged multimedia system with a large touch screen.

High-tech Mitsubishi ASX engines

Depending on the configuration, Mitsubishi ASX can be equipped with one of two gasoline engines: . 1.6 liters (117 hp); . 2.0 liters (150 hp). Both power units are lightweight due to the fact that they are made with an aluminum cylinder block. The engines are controlled by the innovative MIVEC valve timing system. Thanks to its efficient operation, these engines are able to provide excellent dynamics with very modest fuel consumption.

City SUV

You can buy Mitsubishi ACX 2018-2019 from an authorized dealer in the ROLF YUG salon. Although the car belongs to the class of urban crossovers, in fact, it is an SUV. The model is equipped with an all-wheel drive system, has a clearance of 195 mm and has the following indicators of geometric cross-country ability: entry and exit angles - 19.5 degrees and 31 degrees, respectively. The ramp angle is 18 degrees.

The model is equipped with ABS, ASTC (traction control), as well as a course stability system. Braking efficiency and increased driving safety is achieved through the use of the EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) system.

The high price of the Mitsubishi ACX in a new body is due to its high reliability: the car has a strong body, a stable and durable running gear and is equipped with the latest generation electronic systems. A high level of cross-country ability allows it to be used not only in urban areas, but also in conditions of complete absence of road surface.

Allows for fuel efficiency comparable to conventional front-engined, front-wheel drive vehicles.

On slippery surfaces or, if necessary, to overcome impassability - it is very easy to activate the four-wheel drive.

4WD Lock is used when climbing or descending steep grades, off-road, or when leaving snowy or heavily polluted terrain.

High security

The final price of the Mitsubishi ASX in the new configuration also includes a high level of safety. The crossover, according to Euro NCAP, has five stars. The level of safety for the driver or adult passenger is 86%, for the child - 78%, and for the pedestrian - 60%. Security systems are 71% effective. Front and side airbags and passenger airbags, side curtain airbags for the first and second rows of seats, a knee airbag, protection against accidental opening of rear door locks (child lock) and an automatic door release system in case of an accident are already available as standard.

The Mitsubishi ASX is equipped with Brake Assist (Emergency Brake Assist) and has an option to give priority to the brake pedal over the accelerator pedal in the event of an emergency.

The safety of the driver and passenger is ensured by three-point seat belts equipped with force limiters and pretensioners, adjustable in height. The rear sofa is also equipped with three three-point seat belts with inertial coils.

The cost is justified by the innovative Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) heavy-duty body design. Mitsubishi ACX has side bars installed in the doors. This design is effective in a collision: it dampens the impact energy, evenly distributing the momentum over the entire area of the body, thereby diverting the impact force from the interior of the cabin. This ensures a high level of safety for the driver and passengers.

You can buy a new Mitsubishi ACX from an authorized dealer without waiting and queues. Come to the ROLF SOUTH car dealership and take advantage of the favorable conditions for purchasing a reliable, comfortable and safe crossover from the Land of the Rising Sun.

Good afternoon. In today's article, typical weaknesses of the Mitsubishi ACX and problems during operation are considered. Traditionally for our site, the article is supplemented with excellent photo and video materials.

Competition among compact crossovers is now fierce. Almost every car manufacturer considers it his duty to offer buyers a compact conqueror of light off-road. Mitsubishi was no exception, which in 2010 introduced the Mitsubishi ASX crossover to the European market. And among the competitors, the Japanese "SUV" is not lost. A year later, the ASX began to come across with enviable regularity on the streets of our cities, and now the compact crossover is quite common on the used car market. And there, he is also not deprived of attention from potential buyers. But will the operation of a used Mitsubishi ASX be joyful and serene?

The body is the weak point of the Mitsubishi ACX.

The paintwork of almost all modern cars is a favorite object of criticism from motorists. The Japanese crossover was no exception. After a couple of years of operation, a fairly large number of small chips and scratches appear on the body of the Mitsubishi ASX. The Japanese crossover has not bypassed another problem of modern cars - the appearance of condensate in the rear lights and foglights. But if you can still put up with this, then it is much more difficult to put up with the bursting glass of fog lights. Keeping them safe and sound, however, is not so difficult. To do this, try not to expose the delicate glass of the foglights to sudden changes in temperature. So it’s better not to get carried away with forcing deep puddles at full speed on the Mitsubishi ASX.

Salon - cheap and cheerful.

Cabin plastic in the ASX is not too expensive, so it's not surprising that it starts to squeak a little over time. Most crossover owners get used to the creak and simply stop paying attention to it. But getting used to the drop from the ceiling lamp will not work. The problem will have to be solved. Condensation that forms between the roof and its upholstery can be eliminated by gluing the inner surface of the roof with special heat-insulating materials. It won't be very expensive, but it will take some getting used to.

Engine range - which is better to choose?

For the Mitsubishi ASX sold on our market, three gasoline engines were offered, each of which has a timing chain drive. At the moment, the owners of the Japanese crossover have the least complaints about the most powerful two-liter engine with a capacity of 150 horsepower. With timely maintenance, he will not remind himself at all.

But the weakest engine, which, with a volume of 1.6 liters, develops 117 horsepower, can cause minor problems from time to time. Some Mitsubishi ASX owners with this power unit have already complained that they are not always able to start the car the first time. But since the problem has not become systemic over the years of crossover production, the Japanese are not yet thinking about solving it. But with detonation, which sometimes occurs at medium speeds on cars with a 1.6-liter engine, dealers and Mitsubishi itself tried to fight. They released a new firmware for the engine ECU, which partially solved the problem. Although individual owners still note that sometimes detonation appears again.

There are fewer complaints about the 140-horsepower 1.8-liter gasoline engine. Only on restyled versions of the crossover, and they began to be produced in 2012, this power unit sometimes frightened the owners of the Japanese crossover with the appearance of extraneous rattling sounds. And if at first official dealers blamed the resonating crankcase protection for everything, then it turned out that the vibrating drive belt tensioner was the source of extraneous sounds.

transmission problems.

A very reliable manual transmission on the Mitsubishi ASX is relatively rare. Most of the cars that have already managed to prove themselves well on the older Outlander model. Only isolated cases of premature failure of the variator are known. And in this case, we can say with confidence that the blame for this lies entirely with the owners of the ill-fated cars.

The suspension is another weak spot.

So if the Mitsubishi ASX has a weak point, then its suspension is definitely one. Not only was it not set up in the best way on pre-styling crossovers (on cars that were released after 2012, the settings were changed for the better), but also from the point of view of reliability, it is far from ideal. The stabilizer bushings on the Mitsubishi ASX can withstand only 35-40 thousand kilometers, after another 10-15 thousand kilometers the crossover can upset with leaking front shock absorbers. The rest of the "consumables" can withstand more. And their cost is quite acceptable, so the suspension of the "Japanese" will not require any special costs.

Conclusion.

Of course, Mitsubishi ASX owners are not immune from small troubles, but the Japanese crossover will not cause big troubles. In terms of reliability, it looks much more preferable than most of its competitors. No wonder even used Mitsubishi ASX find their new owners quickly enough.
