Overview of the HUD projector on the windshield. HUD display - car windshield projector Connecting head up display car e350

In 2017, a device called a “car windshield projector” (heads up display or HUD, literally - head up display) continues to gain popularity.

The purpose of this device is to improve driving comfort and safety. The device projects current information from the on-board computer onto the car windshield or a special screen, which is located in the driver’s line of sight and allows him not to be distracted by dashboard- all the necessary information is right before his eyes.

When driving a moving vehicle, every millisecond of driver distraction is worth its weight in gold and increases the chance of an accident.

When the driver turns his gaze to the dashboard, the driver needs not only to physically turn his eyes, but also to “refocus” on a nearby object and adapt to a significantly different brightness.

HUDs are attractive due to their ability to display an image ahead of the vehicle and thus radically reduce driver distraction time. And every millisecond saved means the lives of drivers and passengers.

We have made for you a selection of the 10 most interesting devices working on this technology.

1. Navdy Car HUD : a smart car gadget that allows you to control your smartphone without taking your eyes off the road. Important information is projected onto a transparent HUD screen located in the driver's field of vision. The projector connects to Android and iOS smartphones via Bluetooth and displays information at the windshield level. Navdy supports gesture and voice control, which means you no longer have to look down while driving to find the right buttons. You can buy the device(~30,000 rub.)

2. Carloudy:A wireless HUD projector for your car that displays the necessary information while driving. Connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth, has a special transparent screen and voice control. The manufacturer of this device assures that the information is perfectly readable even in bright sunlight. All you have to do is place the device on your dashboard and it will display information right in front of you, at windshield level, showing the route and turns from Google Maps. Obviously, this option of using a smartphone is much safer and more convenient. This device needs to be charged once every two weeks. You can order a projector: [] (~15,600 rub.)

3. Hudway Glass:is a simplified version of the devices mentioned above, and actually consists only of a stand for your smartphone and special glass, which acts as a screen on which the necessary information is reflected. You can use any free HUD application, but Hudway recommends its own. You can buy this device [] (~3000 rub.)

4. Continental AR HUD.Continental, a well-known company in the automotive world, imagines such a device in its own way as a projector on the windshield. And they call it an augmented reality HUD display. Such a device will be able to warn you about various traffic situations, for example, if you unintentionally start to move out of your lane.
The projector displays virtual markers in front of the car to indicate the lane on the road or street to turn onto, making navigation even easier. Continental Company has already successfully implemented its developments in premium BMW cars, Mercedes-Benz and AUDI. Read more [ ].

5. Vinet HUD.Another interesting device that performs the same functions, but is not actually a windshield projector, since it uses a transparent OLED display instead of reflective glass. Although on the one hand this limits its capabilities, on the other hand the manufacturers claim that in this way they have completely solved the problem of visibility of information in bright sunlight, which is present in other projectors. The kit also included a developed smartphone application that collects detailed driving statistics. Device price: $199. (~12,000 rub.)

6. Exploride.One of the most remarkable devices in this list. The developers promise that with this device your car will become truly smart. Indeed, the list of features of this projector is impressive: navigation, music, calls, mail, instant messengers, built-in camera and much more, and all this is controlled by voice and gestures to provide safe driving. The device is still in development at the time of writing this article. [ ]. This HUD projector will retail for $499. (~30,000 rub.)

Hello comrades!
Minsk time is 9 o'clock, in Petropavlovsko-Kamchatsky it is midnight.
I am starting a program based on your requests and today you will learn how easily and at no extra cost:
- make a portable shaker from the Vyatka washing machine;
- organize a home weather station from a rectal thermometer and AA batteries;
- using a plastic bottle, a lighter and grandma’s herbarium to create a good mood for a large company...
Maestro, shorten the march! We will talk about fuel economy, high-speed radars and car tuning “a la Russe”! Who is too lazy to read - IMMEDIATELY!

Background and motives for purchase

I am a very frugal person. Yes, these are exactly my exclamations “Who didn’t turn off the kitchen light behind them!?” you can hear it even in the vestibule. It’s on my balcony that the washed used bags proudly develop. You’ll see me on the beach in boiled dumplings cut off to fit shorts and carefully placed by my mother. So who am I after this? Sucker? No, this is the wrong answer. I am the beloved Husband and Folder of level 80. Because there is no extra money in the family! Never. Until we... until we... “bought a ticket to Turkey and a second fur coat,” - thank you, dear, for the tip!
If you haven't closed the tab yet this review in honor of the review of another power bank, then you have fallen into my zombie trap and, at a minimum, will read the article to the end. As a maximum, you will sign your apartment and car to me. We’ll talk about it (the car) today.
My family has two cars. One - almost new Peugeot is in the use of my wife, and the second one is a Mitsubishi Lancer Wagon of the ninth generation, born in 2006, in my possession. The first one was bought to transport the entire family (me, my wife, two children) and is equipped with all the newfangled bells and whistles from climate control to cruising. The second is a kind of “stepson” and was born for humiliation by moving formwork/blocks/cement/surrounding rubbish in space. It looks unsightly, like a trampled slipper, but 95% of trips take place in it. It just so happened that my Lancer IX is not included in the package on-board computer. Of course, it is there, but there is no display with readings. For this reason, I don't even suspect about fuel consumption. And this, damn, how inconvenient! I also regularly catch high-speed radars on the highway, which also cost a pretty penny...

Due to the fact that my faithful Mitsubishi Lancer IX is not equipped with an on-board computer (for those who don’t read spoilers), and there is neither the desire nor the opportunity to change the car to a more expensive one (read above), I decided to buy a HUD, also known as an on-board computer projector on the windshield. And now I can already hear the objection User AlexeyM () “Whoever just wants to “try” buys a bluetooth obd2 adapter - cheap and cheerful. On a phone with an adapter, a program like hob drive, CoroO is installed and everything you are interested in looks on it, if you like it, you can already install such a thing. Well, that's what I did. The first step was the purchase of a primitive OBD scanner, which transmits on-board computer data to the phone via Bluetooth. I really liked the idea, but not the implementation. Firstly, to activate you need to use TWO devices - a scanner and a phone. In addition to the fact that you first need to install the phone on a tripod, turn on Bluetooth and launch the appropriate program (I had Torque lite), you also need to regularly check the battery condition. In the active Torque lite mode, the battery in the phone is drained to zero in 3 hours. The conclusion from this is that this option does not suit me. After studying Musya, I came across this review about the HEAD UP display user blackhyu() "I've been using a similar one for about 2 years now. Hyundai Tucson. Very satisfied. Only he placed it not in the center of the torpedo, but on the left. It’s not so noticeable and doesn’t bother you. And mirror film also doesn’t look so “strange” from the street. Plus, I put a black plate on the glass in the corner - from the street you can’t even see that there’s some kind of box. I only look at readings using this type of device. Overall 100% satisfied" after which the conclusion was made unequivocally - gotta take it!

Which HUD should you choose? This question can be answered by determining the range of necessary functional requirements. In my case it's:
- Bright, easy to read display;
- Large font of indications for ease of perception;
- Information about speed and fuel consumption. Where possible, this should be accompanied by intelligent notifications of significant changes in on-board computer readings.
Based on preferences, in the field of my interests 2 models hit:
1. Folk which is sold on BUYSKU.COM for $68 and browsed on my favorite MYSKU.
2. “Dark horse” due to product innovation (2014 model) HEAD UP DISPLAY ASH-4 which I FIRST found on the ALIEXPRESS.COM website for $49
First option immediately fell out of favor due to its small size and pale green backlight. And the price... Second option I liked it thanks to the larger 5.5 inch size and the ability to select the projected color: moonlight white, yellow and blue.

And so I practically raised my finger over the button "PAY", but... I thought, shouldn’t I look on other sites for cheaper. I went the other way and found a fat coupon for a %8 discount from $40 on . In the end, it turned out cheaper than on ALI (!), and they also accept PAL. I contacted the seller to check availability. They answered immediately - yes, there is. If, they say, we see a baby, we will send it within 48 hours. That's what we decided. The goods arrived, which is a good indicator for the New Year's Eve.

So what did I order?

What did I get? (*Knowing that there would be a shoot for a popular site, several sexy models agreed to assist me: blondes, brunettes, redheads and even mulattoes...)
I received a small envelope wrapped in polyethylene foam. The size of the box is comparable to a navigator. Inside full set. The HUD is packaged in a full-fledged “sold and given away” package.

There is nothing to say about the anti-slip mat and film - film and mat. Everything is packed in bags. Instruction manual in English. Link to it. A cable with an OBDII chip (side connection) on one end and a mini USB on the other. The cord length is 1.5 meters, which is enough for almost any car. The cord is flat and elastic.

Now about the projector. The dimensions and weight of the device correspond to those indicated on the website. Made of matte black plastic. The body has rounded edges and is fastened with six screws. In the manner of a tablet, I checked for backlashes and squeaks - there are none. The front side is covered with a matte film with the corresponding sectors of yellow and gray. All symbols are mirrored. On back side The projector housed a speaker. At the top there is a scroll button that works in three directions: right, left and press. The button travel is soft and springy, the rib is ribbed. At the bottom end there is a socket for a cable in miniUSB format. In general, the device is very ascetic, so a lengthy story does not work out. Images will be more telling.

As you can see, the assembly is of high quality. There are no clips or latches, everything is on screws. The printing is smooth, the fonts are quite “European”.
Now is the time to move on to field testing. We gather everything into a pile and go down to our favorite phaeton.

Installing the device on a car
1. The device is compatible with any car that supports the OBDII standard. You can find out whether your car supports this standard or in technical documentation to the car.
2. To locate the OBDII diagnostic connector, you need to rummage around in the steering column (sometimes under the ashtray or in the armrest) in search of a 16-pin socket. This is where you need to put the HUD chip, obviously, with the engine off;

3. Next, you need to place the device projector on the panel in the intended installation location under the windshield. If necessary, you can use a rubber mat (included);
4. In the place where the indicators are projected onto the glass, you must stick a mirror film (included), first the glass must be thoroughly cleaned. The film will eliminate doubling of symbols on the windshield. In the mystery of gluing, all the Laws of applying a protective film to a smartphone display apply:
A. Spray water on the windshield in the place of the sticker and on the film
B. Apply the sticker to the glass
B. Use a credit card to remove moisture from under the film from the center to the edges;
5. The cable, if desired, can be tucked under the trim or interior seal.
6. We use it.
This is PLUG-N-PLAY! The entire installation process is described in detail in the review, thanks to Comrade. He1ix.

Functions of the control button.
1. Configure device settings and notifications. When the car is started, you need to press the button in the central position and hold it for 5 seconds. Function zone A and B will light up and go into standby mode. This means it will be possible to change the parameters in accordance with the Table in the Manual.

To set the necessary parameters, you need to turn the slider left or right. You can move through the parameter sectors by briefly pressing the slider in the central position. To exit the settings menu, press the button in the central position and hold for 5 seconds.
2. Setting up a sound notification. When the car is started, you must hold the button in the extreme left position for about 3 seconds. The speaker icon appears on the display. This means that the notification indication is added sound signal buzzer You can remove the sound notification by repeating this procedure.
3. Setting up dynamic indicators (displayed while moving). When the car is started, you must hold the button in the extreme right position for about 3 seconds.

You will enter the menu of dynamic parameters 1, 2 and 3. By pressing once you can select the parameters of the dynamic menu required to be displayed.

Now regarding the information display of the device.

Below is a schematic representation of the ASH-4 projector broken down into information sectors.

1. Interactive display Designed mainly to display vehicle speed. It can be expressed in kilometers and miles. You can customize it if you wish speed mode and only the speedometer readings, fuel consumption and one of the indicators in paragraph 16 will be displayed
2. Information board, housing
3. Indicator low level fuel I have it configured in automatic mode. Lights up when there are about 10 liters of fuel in the tank. On the device it works a little later than on the scoreboard. The error is 4-6 kilometers. You can set the desired fuel level for the sensor to trigger.
4. Error indicator /check/. God forbid, of course...
5. Tachometer. Duplicates the readings of the standard tachometer. The scale lights up constantly, and with an increase/decrease in engine speed, the corresponding numbers on the scale light up (more clearly in the video)
6. Decoding the tachometer readings. Traditionally, we multiply the figure by 1000, measured in rpm
7. Indicator of exceeding the set speed. The function is activated depending on your presets. Can be configured to trigger when crossing 4 speed thresholds at the same time: 60,80,100,120 km. If desired, you can set it to trigger once when a certain speed threshold is crossed. My speed is 102 km/h because... Our radars are said to be configured to take photographs at +12 km from the established speed limit. It seems like it's flying by...
8. Travel time exceeded indicator. It will light up if more than 4 hours have passed since the start. As someone who has woken up in oncoming traffic, I don’t recommend joking with this!
9. Sound notification indicator about significant changes in on-board computer readings. It works like a buzzer together with indicators 3,4,7,8,9.
10. Fuel consumption indicator. Probably needed for beauty. This means that the readings to the left of it relate to fuel consumption...
11. Fuel consumption readings. Quantitative expression of fuel consumption. Calculated in liters.
12. Device control button Navigation button, described in detail above.
13. Fuel consumption indicator: XX liters per 1 hour. Judging by the level of the numbers, it fits the description “Average fuel consumption sensor”
14. Light sensor. Works when the automatic backlight brightness function is activated.
15. Fuel consumption indicator: XX liters per 100 km
16. Indicators:
- On-board network voltage.
In my case, the voltage range is from 13.2V to 14.5V, depending on the operating mode of the car. Recently the spark plugs flooded and the car did not start the first time. I clearly saw how the voltage after each attempt to start it dropped before my eyes from 14 to 11 V.
- Position throttle valve. In other words, the intensity of our pressure on the gas accelerator and how the throttle control unit understands this. A utilitarian, but not a secondary function, is a uniform idling of the engine. Experts say that for my engine this unit is at risk, so this is a very useful indicator.
- Coolant temperature. A very useful and VISUAL indicator. When starting the engine it now shows 0 degrees. As it warms up, the indicator increases and only at 40-45 degrees does the standard arrow on the panel wake up. I start at 50-60 degrees.
- Ignition timing. This indicator should not exceed 10 degrees. Otherwise it's inevitable increased consumption fuel.
- Acceleration. This function is used to calculate the acceleration index. In other words, the intensity of movement of a car in space over a certain period of time. Damn, my wife is right, I ALWAYS COMPLICATE EVERYTHING! Oh that's it, let's move on...
17. Seconds indicator. Needed when you measure the acceleration of a car, i.e. time in seconds and hundredths for which you will reach 100 km/h. This is for the racers...
18. Indications Indicator readings 16
19. Kilometer indicator Lights up if there is only 100 km of fuel remaining. I don’t understand why it is needed if there is item 3.
20. RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) indicator Revolutions per minute. I get it, this is a detailed tachometer.
21 and 22. Kilometers per hour and miles per hour display indicator. You can choose in which units the speed of movement will be expressed.
Now that the settings are configured, it’s time to test the device on the go.

Now let's go for a drive!!!
We start the car. After 5-7 seconds the display activates and shows onboard voltage. The coolant temperature sensor immediately wakes up. During the period when the vehicle speed is “0”, the fuel consumption indicator switches from the XX liters per 100 km indicator to the XX liters per hour indicator. This is logical because if the first function is active, the sky-high consumption will be displayed - 99 liters. As soon as the car starts moving, the consumption indicator of XX liters per hour automatically switches to the consumption indicator of XX liters per 100 km (visually in the video). If while driving the parameters of the standard display slightly differ from the HUDa data, you need to make fine adjustments in accordance with the Table in the Instructions. How do you read fuel consumption parameters in a car? On one respected forum I found an answer that satisfied me: multiply the pulse duration of the injectors by the pressure in the line and multiply by the performance of the injectors. There are, of course, weaknesses in this formula, such as contamination of the injectors, fuel quality, condition and size of tires... All this is not taken into account by the on-board computer. However, what is important for me is not so much the exact amount of fuel consumed in liters, but the increase and decrease in consumption depending on driving style. If you are not satisfied with the calculation formula I gave, welcome to the spoiler. I warn you, the data can cause a nervous tic and a deep-seated inferiority complex.

READY? STADY! GOW!!!

Q=100Gt/(Vaρt),
where Gt is hourly fuel consumption, kg/h; Va-vehicle speed, km/h; ρt-fuel density, g/cm3.
To calculate hourly fuel consumption it is necessary specific consumption fuel multiplied by power:
GT = geNe = 0.03VhnPe/(Hнηe),
where ge is specific fuel consumption, kg/(kWh); Ne - effective engine power, kW; Pe - average effective pressure, kPa; Nn - lower heating value of fuel, kJ/kg; ηе - effective efficiency; Vh is the working volume of the engine cylinders, l; n - rotation speed crankshaft, min-1.
The crankshaft rotation speed is determined by the formula through the vehicle speed: n=2.65*io*iк*Va/rк, where io, ik are the gear ratios of the main gear and gearbox, rk is the rolling radius, m.
The effective efficiency of a motor can be expressed in terms of mechanical and indicator efficiency as follows:
ηе = ηmηi = Peηi/(Pe+Pп),
where Рп is the average pressure of mechanical losses in the engine, kPa.
The average effective pressure Pe is determined from the equation of power supplied to the wheels of the car. The power at the drive wheels is equal to the sum of three terms: (Gаψ+0.077kFV2a±0.1βGaVa)Vа/3.6*103. The third term is extra strength Pj to overcome the forces of inertia. This force is the sum of the force Pp necessary to accelerate the translationally moving masses, and the force necessary to accelerate the rotating parts. For simplified calculations, we can assume that the force Pj is disproportionate to the force Pp and the coefficient β, which takes into account the influence of rotating masses (flywheel, wheels, etc.):
Pj=βРр≈ 0.1βGaVa,
where Va is the acceleration (deceleration) of a moving car, m/s2.
The coefficient β is approximately calculated using the formula β=l+aKi2k, where ak is a constant value for a given vehicle (for cars 0.03...0.05, for trucks and buses 0.05...0.07); ik - gear ratio in the gearbox. Thus,
Neηtr = VhPenηtr/120 = (Gaψ+0.077kFV2a±0.1βGaVa)Vа/3.6*103.
Hence, kPa, Re=12.56rк(Gaψ+0.077kFV2a±0.1βGaVa)/(Vhi0ikηtr).
To determine the average pressure of mechanical friction losses in an engine, there are a number of empirical formulas that general view written as Рп=а+bСп, where a and b are constant coefficients for a given engine; Sp - average speed piston, m/s. These losses are practically independent of engine power. Expressing the piston speed through its stroke (Sp, m) and the crankshaft rotation speed (n, min-1), we obtain, kPa,
Рп=а+0.033b*Sn*n.
Approximately 65% of energy losses due to friction occur in the cylinder-piston group, 15 - 20% - in gas exchange processes and 10% - in the drive of auxiliary devices. By reducing mechanical losses due to friction, gas exchange and drive of auxiliary devices, fuel consumption can be reduced by 3 - 5%.
Coefficients a and b are experimentally found for each type of engine at different ratios of the piston stroke Sp to the cylinder diameter Dc. For carburetor engines at Sp/Dt1 the value of coefficients a and b is slightly greater than at Sp/Dt
For diesel engines coefficients a and b are slightly larger than for carburetor ones. With sufficient approximation for practical calculations, a for diesel engines can be taken as 48 kPa and carburetor engines as 45 kPa, b - 16 and 13 kPa*s*m-1, respectively.

Sometimes the instantaneous consumption figures are downright scary and your foot involuntarily loosens the pressure on the gas pedal (especially when starting from a traffic light). For this reason, I noticed some changes in my riding style. I cannot confirm the objectivity of the recorded consumption because there is nothing to compare with. At the end of the route, after turning off the engine, the display shows the average consumption for the trip. This seems to be true. For me it was 9-9.3 in the city, outside - about 7.5 liters.
In motion, the parameters are perfectly readable both at night and during the day. After one or two days of use, I completely stopped looking at the standard speedometer. This is logical: it is much easier to look away a couple of centimeters horizontally than to look for numbers in the loophole through steering wheel. Moreover, the standard panel of the Lancer, in the general opinion of the owners, is rather dull. I set the brightness of the device to AUTO mode, which works fine. For the perfectionists, I’ll report - the numbers on the windshield are not visible from the outside, no one will point a finger. The only thing visible from the outside is the mirror film on the glass. In the evening, a light spot is visible where the HUD is installed.

Well, it's time to wrap things up and move on to dessert.
As a result of this purchase I:
- received objective VISUAL information about the on-board computer readings - speed, fuel consumption, coolant temperature, on-board network voltage, etc.
- warned the family budget against unnecessary costs for fuel and traffic police fines
- insured against engine errors
- upgraded my tarantass. This circumstance may cause indignation among those who fight against blue dimensions and pseudo-direct flow, but... firstly, over the years of contemplating the same type of console you get pretty tired of it. Secondly, every new passenger looks at this function with undisguised interest, which is really nice. Even neighbors in traffic jams are interested in the gadget. Well, this is more for extroverts.

Traditionally I add my own video

A few more video reviews of the ASH-4, which may shed light on aspects of the device that I have not touched upon.

Instead of an epilogue: I wanted to do not so much laudatory as detailed review unusual device. I hope that the main goal has been achieved and you will get the source code to make a purchasing decision. If the text turned out to be useless to you, then you. For me personally, the subject causes exceptional erotic hyperesthesia and an irrepressible desire to be behind the wheel. In a word, my Savrazka and I are on our second honeymoon.
Good to everyone, and Good-natured traffic cops and Good roads to the drivers!

Planning to buy +143 Add to favorites I liked the review +125 +284

Good day. I already wrote that not long ago I became the owner of my childhood dream - the legendary rally car Lancia Delta Inegralr HF. I also wrote about the fact that not everything suits me with regard to its electronic “filling”. Whatever one may say, almost thirty years have passed since my Delta came off the production line.

In my last post (), I talked about the “Start-Stop” ignition button that I ordered on AliExpress. As I said earlier, I will install it over the weekend, but now it’s time for a new review.

What is a HUD display?
Today we will talk about the HUD display. HUD-display (Head Up Display) - literally can be translated as: - “head up display”. Our people call this device a glass projector. It projects various indicators (speed, engine speed, on-board voltage, fuel consumption, etc.) of the car onto the windshield.

Where did he come from?
Initially, the HUD display was not designed for cars at all, but for US Air Force fighter aircraft. It was done with one goal - to minimize as much time (and this is a fraction of a second) it takes the pilot while he is looking at the instruments.

How I got excited about the HUD display
It all started two years ago, when my sister's husband bought a Buick Randevouz. Buick Rendezvous is a huge seven-seater jeep, not a SUV =). So, he bought it in another city and asked me to go pick up the car with him. We got there in his Mazda CX-9, and back I had the pleasure of driving a Buick Rendezvous. Since the re-registration took us almost the whole day, we drove back at night. As soon as dusk appeared, I turned on parking lights and voila, the speedometer readings began to duplicate on my windshield. Six hundred kilometers behind the wheel of a real American SUV passed in an instant. But most of all, I couldn’t forget that pale green speedometer that was projected on my windshield.

Buying a device called HUD
My friend went in a simple way: He downloaded the SpeedFox application for his Android mobile phone and then put the phone under the windshield. This option did not suit me, and since I am not looking for easy ways, Two years ago, I began searching for this miracle on the Internet. I started searching... I looked everywhere: in online stores, at auctions, on sites with private advertisements. And I found it here on AliExpress http://ru.aliexpress.com/item/2015-W02-HUD-5/32353508228.html?s=p. What I immediately liked was the rich filling (as stated in the description), compatibility with the OBD II interface and free delivery. I really wasn’t happy with the price, after all, almost fifty bucks was a bit expensive... But still, I ordered it.
The seller sent the goods quickly and sent me the track number RC858046802CN to track my HUD.
The goods came a little over a month. To be honest, I was afraid that it wouldn’t come at all... Because at that moment, just two parcels did not reach me. But everything worked out.

HUD display
The HUD display came to me well packaged. The seller from the Middle Kingdom did not spare the bubble wrap. Let me remind you that purchases on AliExpress are insured and if the goods arrive damaged, the buyer has the right to open a dispute and not pay for the goods. Therefore, lately the Chinese have been very attentive to packaging. And since my HUD display is not a cheap thing, by the standards of AliExpress, due attention was paid to the packaging.

Having opened the gray package with the inscription ChinaPost and unrolled a kilometer of bubble wrap, I found this box.

Opening top cover cardboard packaging, this picture appeared in front of me.

Five items were neatly folded in the box: instructions, a sticky mat, a mini-USB/OBD2 cable, a mirror film on the glass and the HUD display itself.

The HUD display was wrapped in another kilometer of bubble wrap =)

This is what the instructions look like

And this is already a rug

O sticky on both sides

This is what the OBDII connection cable looks like

The cable is very long, about a meter long

Reflective film on glass

Well, actually the HUD display itself

Overall, I liked the Chinese electronics product. The Hud is assembled very high quality. The plastic is flush-fitted everywhere. Nothing creaks anywhere.

The OBD2 cord is very well made. It is made of durable material and its rigidity resembles wires with a good cross-section.

The mat is just mega-sticky, it’s hard to get your finger off =) Connection time
On My Lancia, the OBD2 interface is supported through a special adapter. But, alas... the HUD display did not work. Even after a couple of hours of dancing with a tambourine around this device, it did not bring any results. It's a shame and a shame... But I don't give up =)
My first thought was that perhaps the device itself was not working. Then I decided to try it on my wife’s car. She has a Ford Ka.
After connecting to her car, I exclaimed to myself: Eureka!!! It worked!!!
The device actually turned on. Some settings appeared. Using the instructions, I entered the car's parameters and started it.
The device works, but does not show anything. After about thirty minutes of wasted time, the HUD began to show the voltage of the vehicle network.

P.S. I'm still getting to grips with this device. Tried to connect it to: Suzuki Grand Vitara 2008, Buick Rendevouz 2003, Ford Ka 2007, Mazda CX-9 2007 - but the result is two and not very positive, either does not work at all, or shows the network voltage.

We'll figure it out further...

The HUD projector on the windshield is designed to prevent an accident, projects important information onto the windshield at eye level such as: speed, fuel consumption, voltage, date, time, engine speed, battery discharge signal, mileage, travel time, fuel consumption 100 km and other parameters.
Display position and brightness can be adjusted
Prevents the driver from looking at the dashboard and helps avoid breaking rules and regulations due to speeding.
Reduces the risk of traffic accidents caused by distracted mind due to looking down.
Connects via vehicle OBD2 connector

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Preparatory work
1. Find out your type and brand of vehicle. When choosing the type of vehicle that must comply with the OBD2 standard, you need to open the hood and look for the sticker under it. If the sticker says "OBD2 Certified Tool" it means you can install a HUD (Figure 1).
2. Connect the HUD to the vehicle. You can find the 16-channel diagnostic connector socket under the steering wheel of the car above the gas pedal. Then connect it to the OBD2 wire connector (Fig. 2).
3. Place a non-slip mat horizontally in the front of the vehicle and adjust the angle of the HUD on it.
4. Apply a reflective film to the car windshield above the HUD in order to obtain a high-quality image of the data. You can ask an employee of an authorized dealer to apply the reflective film.
Some tips for adhesive film:
A. You can spray water evenly on the windshield with a spray.
B. Please tear it down protective layer film and spray a little water on both sides. Then install it where you want it.
C. Squeeze the water out from under the film according to smooth surface object until it is completely removed and the bubbles inside disappear.
D. Once the water is squeezed out, you can wipe off the water and dust around the screen.
5. To check the power supply, you need to connect the HUD to the connector and you will see the previous voltage reading. Then enter the research state of the computer version of the vehicle. After this we can say that the HUD has been installed successfully.

HUD settings options
The HUD display indicators are the same as those of the car's on-board computer. However, they may differ from the on-board computer. You need to put the HUD into customization mode and make some minor adjustments. As a result, the display on the HUD will match the data from the vehicle indicators. The specific steps are as follows.
Connect the HUD to the car and start the engine. To enter the adjustment mode, you need to press the control wheel vertically and hold it for 5 seconds. A subsequent single press of the wheel adds one. You can set the plus or minus of these parameters by turning the wheel left or right. In this case, you should pay attention to how the device is located in relation to you and where in this moment"left" and where is "right". Without taking this into account, mistakes may be made. In addition, you should know that in customization mode, the HUD display does not show the numbers in a mirror image, but in a direct one. This makes working with it in this mode much more convenient.
You can return the display screen to operating mode by vertically pressing the wheel and holding it for 5 seconds or restarting the HUD. (Fig. 3).

Entering adjustment mode

Explanation of the 14th point - fuel consumption.
Setting the conditional (reference) average fuel consumption data is determined by the manufacturer for a new car. So, if the factory fuel consumption is 8.7 l/100km, then the HUD should be set to 87.
Explanation of the 15th paragraph. ECU is a car's on-board computer protocol. This function is to coordinate (compatibility) the vehicle protocol with the HUD program to prevent errors or deviations. As a rule, the computer sets the value of this item itself.
Settings:
1.Quick refueling: start the car and turn the dial dial to set the amount of fuel to refuel; unit of measurement in liters.
2. Explanations of the 11th paragraph. Generally speaking, a car manufactured after 2010 comes with an air mass meter. The user can select =0 to see if the fuel consumption is displayed. If fuel consumption is not detected, then set the factory emission parameter.
After setting, press vertically on the setting wheel for 5 seconds to return the display from settings mode to operating mode, or restart the HUD.
Restore factory default settings.
When the HUD is connected to the car, do not start the engine, wait until the HUD turns off. With the engine off and the HUD off, turn the wheel to the right and hold it down for 5 seconds. You will then hear a "tick" sound from the HUD which means the factory settings have been restored.
Clearing fault codes.
When the HUD is connected to the car, do not start the car, insert the key to the "ON" position, and wait for the HUD to go out, turn the wheel to the left and hold it for 5 seconds. You will hear a beep from the HUD, which means the trouble codes are cleared.

General operating settings.
1.Switching functional areas of the display.
When the car is started and the display interface is working, you can turn the wheel to the left for 5 seconds and you will see "function zone 1" flashing. You can then turn the wheel left or right to choose what you want to display. By pressing the wheel vertically, you can enter the “functional zone 2” section. By repeating the same steps, you can enter function zone 3 in the same way. Finally, you can exit these settings by pressing the wheel vertically for 5 seconds.

2. Horn switch
When the car is started and the interface is displayed normally, you can turn the wheel to the left (if the HUD is installed in a mirror - to the right) for 5 seconds, and you will see that the voice signal icon is not lit. Repeat these steps until the icon lights up. Continue these steps until you get the desired state.
3. Setting the value of the emergency refueling signal.
When the car is running and the display interface is working, you can turn the wheel left or right to decrease or increase the number that appears in the speed window. Instead of speed readings at this time, this window will display the amount of fuel in liters. For example, turn the wheel until it reaches 20. This increases the fuel supply for triggering an alarm by up to 20 liters. (Note: This function only works when the fuel switch in step 13 is set to 0.)
Functional meanings of instructions
1. Parameter value: shows the value in units of kilometers, miles and engine speed.
2. OBD2 port: connect the HUD to the car.
3. Fuel icon: flashes when there is not enough fuel to drive 100 km.
4. Engine Trouble: Flashes when the car's engine has problems.
5. Engine speed: shows the engine speed.
6. Engine speed icon: will flash when the engine speed reaches the set limit.
7. Speed Alarm: Flashes when the speed exceeds the set value.
8. Rest advice: Lights up when driving continuously for more than 4 hours, starting from turning on the HUD.
9. Sound Switch: Lights up when the alarm sound is connected.
10. Fuel consumption icon: shows fuel consumption.
11.Fuel volume value: shows the fuel consumption for the last trip.
12. Dial wheel: multi-function switch. It can be rotated left or right, pressed vertically. With it, you can enter the settings mode by long pressing vertically.
13. Fuel consumption per hour: shows the instantaneous fuel consumption in liters per hour while parked.
14. Light sensor: senses intensity external source light and adjusts the brightness of the HUD. Adapts to the environment automatically.
15. Fuel consumption per 100 km: shows the instantaneous fuel consumption in liters per 100 km while driving.
16. Throttle position, temperature, speed limit and acceleration per 100 km: voltage - shows the voltage level of the car; throttle valve - shows its position; temperature - shows the temperature of the coolant; UOZ - shows the ignition timing angle, which is an indicator of engine efficiency; acceleration of a car to 100 km/h - shows the time of acceleration of the car to 100 km/h.
17. Seconds: displays the acceleration unit up to 100 km/h.
18. Parameter value: shows the values of voltage, throttle position, water temperature, speed limit and acceleration to 100 km/h.
19. Mileage: the icon lights up when there is only 100 km of fuel left.
20. Revolutions per minute: displays the number of engine revolutions when multiplied by 10.
21. Kilometers per hour: Displays the speed unit.
22. Miles per hour: Displays the speed unit.
Common problems
Problems; possible reasons; solutions
Speed alarm does not work. the set speed limit value is too high (see adjustment points 4 and 5) or the alarm function is closed (see page 4, point 2).
Engine overspeed alarm does not sound. the set value is too high or the alarm function is disabled. Reset the limit value (see adjustment point 3) or turn on the alarm switch (page 4, point 2).
No image on the HUD after starting the engine. The ignition key did not open, the switch is open or the HUD connection connectors are poorly connected.
Inaccurate fuel consumption display. The car does not have an air flow sensor (they were mainly installed in 2010). Instead of indicator =0, set emission indicators (see paragraph 11 of adjustments) in accordance with technical characteristics Your car. If they are not there, then you can set the indicator recommended by these instructions = 16.
Engine speed and rpm are not shown on the display. The car's on-board computer or EU port does not comply with OBD2. Contact the car manufacturer.
Doesn't show mileage on display. incorrect settings fuel level and fuel consumption is not calibrated. Set the fuel level data source (see point 9 of adjustments) to the manual input position = 0 and adjust the idle fuel consumption (see point 2 of adjustments).
Speed displayed inaccurately. choose the correct speed units - miles/hour or km/hour, they have different numerical values (see page 4, point 1). Calibrate the speed data (see point 0 adjustments).
Only speed and fuel consumption are shown on the display. the speed indicator exceeds the set limit (see point 5 of adjustments) or switch the included display settings (see point 6 of adjustments) to mode =1.
