    INTRODUCTION

    Renault Captur(factory designation “NNA”) is an all-wheel drive compact crossover, which was introduced in Russia on March 30, 2016. And although this model is called Russian Captur version, which was introduced in 2013, in fact these models are only slightly similar to each other.
    Main Renault difference The NNA from the European Captur is that it is built on the basis of the VO from the Logan family instead of the platform of the more expensive Clio. In addition, its body is longer than that of its European counterpart.

    The increase in length was achieved not only due to greater rear overhang, but also due to the longer wheelbase. This solution will allow the Kaptur to be produced with a seven-seat interior layout. The length of the car is 4333 mm, width - 1813 mm, height - 1613 mm. Wheelbase managed to “stretch” it to 2673 mm, which is a considerable indicator for a car of such a small class. For the sake of road surface ground clearance is 205 mm. Luggage compartment designed to carry luggage of 387 liters. If you need to increase the volume, then by folding backseat, you can get 1200 l.
    The exterior is designed for young people living in the city, but with a strong desire to have the opportunity to go on a picnic. Good ground clearance allows, also connected rear axle can help out in an extraordinary situation. I would especially like to highlight the proposed color scheme for Captur. Renault decided not to skimp on ideas, so the car can turn out not just bright, but even catchy, which will immediately make it stand out from the crowd of dull “classmates”. Front and rear optics underlines the unbending corporate design that makes Renault always recognizable.

    The interior is distinguished by the originality of individual solutions. Just look at the center console and gear selector! There are no questions about the ergonomics of the driver’s seat, as well as about visibility: there are practically no “dead” spots in the car. A driver of any height and build can adjust the seat to suit himself. Despite the fact that the car seems small from the outside, the inside is quite spacious and cozy. The finishing materials are of good quality and have a high degree of fit, which is good news, especially if you remember the Capture’s cousin, the Duster. You want to drive in this car, and this trip will be a pleasure, given the good suspension (MacPherson strut at the front, multi-link at the rear). Kaptur also pleasantly surprises with the energy intensity of the suspension: it is almost impossible to break through it.

    IN Russia Kaptur offered with one of two gasoline engines: 1.6-liter 114-horsepower unit or 2.0-liter engine with 143 hp. With. The “junior” engine can only be purchased with front-wheel drive, and the more powerful unit can only be purchased with all-wheel drive. The list of available transmissions includes 5- and 6-speed manual transmissions, a CVTX-Tronic variator and a 4-speed automatic transmission, also known by others. Renault models. IN basic equipment Kaptur will have air conditioning, power steering, LED running lights, push-button engine start, front and rear electric windows, electric drive and heated side mirrors, CD-MP3 audio system with AUX and USB connectors. In addition, the starting list of equipment includes ABS systems, ESP and front airbags.
    I would especially like to note intelligent system all-wheel drive, which can block the clutch in order to transmit torque to the front and rear axle in equal proportion. This function can be enabled by selecting the appropriate switch position. Also, with its help, you can make the car exclusively front-wheel drive or delegate control of the torque distribution between the axles to automation.

    This manual provides instructions for the operation and repair of all Renault modifications Kaptur, produced since 2016.

Emergency actions Renault Kaptur from 2016 Wheel replacement

2. Wheel replacement

Wheel replacement

CAUTION Turn on alarm. Move the car away from the road and place it on level, non-slip and firm ground (if necessary, place a strong pad under the jack's support heel). Turn on parking brake and then engage the gear (first or reverse) or move the mode switch lever automatic transmission gears to position “P”. Ask all passengers to exit the vehicle and stay away from the roadway.

1. If necessary, remove decorative cap.

2. Replace the wheel. To do this you need to do the following:

Loosen the wheel bolts using the wheel wrench (3). Install it so that the force applied to the key handle is directed downward;

Hold the jack (1) horizontally, making sure to place its head at the height of the amplifier as close as possible to the corresponding wheel, as indicated by the arrow (2);

Start to rotate the jack manually to correctly install its support heel (it should go slightly under the car);

Make several turns of the handle until the wheel lifts off the ground;

Remove the bolts and remove the wheel;

Put on spare wheel onto the hub and turn it until the mounting holes of the hub and wheel coincide.

3. If bolts are included with the spare tire, they should only be used to secure the spare tire. Tighten the screws, making sure the wheel is positioned correctly on the hub, and lower the jack. After lowering the jack, tighten the bolts firmly and immediately contact a service station to check the tightness of the bolts (tightening torque: 110 Nm) and the air pressure in the spare wheel.

Note

When using wheel locking bolts, install them as close to the tire valves as possible (otherwise the decorative wheel cap may not fit into place).

To avoid the risk of injury or damage to the vehicle, the vehicle should be jacked up so that the wheel to be replaced is no higher than 3 centimeters from the ground.

Spare wheel

Since the punctured tire is wider than the spare tire, placing the punctured tire in place of the spare tire reduces the vehicle's ground clearance. To avoid damage, you must drive carefully over raised roads and off sidewalks. When using this spare wheel (temporary use only), the vehicle speed must not exceed the speed indicated on the wheel label. As soon as possible, the spare tire should be replaced with one of the same type and size as the original one.

Spare wheel

It is located in a holder (5) under the bottom of the car.

To remove the spare tire:

Open the tailgate;

Remove the cover (1);

Unscrew the screw (3) with the wheel wrench (2);

Detach the holder (5) by holding it by the handle (6);

Take out the wheel (4).

To install the wheel in the holder:

Make sure it is in the correct position in the holder (valve down);

Hook the holder with handle 5 and tighten the nut with a wrench to lift the entire assembly;

Check that it is securely fastened.

Temporary tire repair (if provided)

Instead of a spare wheel, the vehicle may be equipped with a temporary repair kit for a damaged wheel. This kit is intended for temporary repair of minor tire damage only. After using the tire repair kit, have the damaged tire checked and repaired by your RENAULT dealer.

RENAULT recommends that you only use genuine RENAULT sealant to repair the tires fitted to your vehicle. Using other sealants may damage the tire air valve seal, causing the tire to lose air. Do not use the temporary tire repair kit provided on your vehicle to repair tires on other vehicles. Do not use the Temporary Tire Repair Kit for purposes other than repairing, inflating or checking tire pressure. Connect the tire inflation compressor only to the mains direct current voltage of 12 V. Do not allow water or dust to enter the temporary tire repair kit. Do not disassemble the Temporary Tire Repair Kit or modify its design. Do not electroplate the temporary repair kit for a damaged wheel. Do not use the tire repair kit in the following cases: - If the sealant has expired (as indicated on the sealant bottle label); - if the size of the damage exceeds 6 mm; - if the tire sidewall is damaged; - if you continued driving after the tire damage and this led to a significant decrease in air pressure in the tire; - if the tire has completely come off the wheel rim inward or outward;

- if the wheel rim is damaged; - if two or more wheels are damaged. Contact an authorized RENAULT dealer to carry out any necessary repairs.

Using a temporary tire repair kit

Remove the temporary tire repair kit from the luggage compartment. Note If your vehicle is equipped with a temporary tire repair kit, it is not equipped with a spare tire, jack or tool kit. These tools can be purchased from official dealer

separately. To purchase this equipment, please contact your authorized RENAULT dealer.

Before using the temporary tire repair kit

If a foreign object (such as a nail or screw) is stuck in the tire, do not remove it.

Check the expiration date of the sealant indicated on the label on the sealant container. Do not use sealant if the expiration date has expired.

Tire repair When using a temporary tire repair kit, be sure to follow the following measures

precautions: 1. The sealant is poisonous. If sealant enters the gastrointestinal tract, immediately drink as much water as possible and seek medical attention. 2. If sealant gets on your skin or eyes, immediately flush the affected areas with plenty of water. If you experience skin or eye irritation, seek medical attention immediately. 3. Keep the sealant out of the reach of children. 1. Open the cover air compressor

and take out the speed limit warning sticker and stick it in a place where it will be clearly visible to the driver while driving.

2. Remove the hose (1) and electrical cable (2). Remove the orange cap from the sealant container holder on the compressor.

3. Remove the lid of the sealant container and insert the container into the holder, rotating it clockwise.

Then turn on the compressor with its switch in the ON (I) position and inflate the tire to the pressure indicated on the tire information label located on the driver's side B-pillar, or to a minimum of 180 kPa. Turn off the compressor for a while to check the tire pressure using a pressure gauge. If you have over-inflated the tire, reduce the air pressure in the tire by pressing the pressure release valve. The recommended air pressure for cold tires is indicated on a plate affixed to the B-pillar in the driver's door opening.

A loose connection between the hose and the tire air valve can result in air leakage and sealant splatter. While inflating a damaged tire, do not stand in close proximity to it, as the tire may burst. If you notice cracks or bulges in the tire, turn off the compressor immediately.

When inflating the tire, the air pressure may reach 600 kPa, but this is normal. Typically, the tire pressure decreases in about 30 seconds. Do not allow the compressor to operate for more than 10 minutes. If you cannot bring the tire pressure up to 180 kPa within 10 minutes, the tire damage is too severe to be repaired with a temporary tire repair kit. Contact an authorized service station.

RENAULT dealer

7. When the tire pressure reaches the recommended value or at least 180 kPa, turn off the compressor. Unplug the electrical outlet and quickly disconnect the hose from the tire air valve. Reinstall the compressor hose protective cap.

8. Replace the tire valve cap.

Leave the sealant container in the holder to prevent sealant from leaking.

10. When you are finished driving, make sure the compressor switch is in the OFF position, then fit the compressor hose tightly onto the tire air valve. Check the tire pressure using a tire pressure gauge. If the tire pressure does not drop, the repair was done well. Inflate the tire to the pressure indicated on the tire placard.

11. If the tire pressure has dropped, repeat the steps from step 5. If the tire pressure drops below 130 kPa again, the damage cannot be repaired using a temporary tire repair kit. Contact an authorized RENAULT dealer.

Do not reuse the sealant container or compressor hose. To purchase a new sealant container and compressor hose, contact your authorized RENAULT dealer.

After tire repair

Contact an authorized RENAULT dealer or a specialist tire repair shop as soon as possible for professional repair damaged wheel or to replace it.

Everyone knows that the pressure in Renault Duster tires should be two atmospheres. In Pascals it would be 2.027 times 10 to the fifth power. The pressure must be kept the same both front and rear (and in the spare tire), and in winter and summer it should not differ either. It is recommended to measure the pressure on “cooled” tires - two hours should pass after the trip. But, despite the simplicity of the recommendations, many manage to make a mistake - they usually overinflate the tires. Let's look at what this leads to.

The value “2 atmospheres” is also suitable for off-road use. Let's look at the video for proof.

So, the tire pressure of Renault Duster should correspond to the table, and it is better to measure the value an hour or two after the trip. It would be even better to measure the pressure on “cold” tires, that is, before the trip.

A warm tire will always have slightly higher pressure. But this is not a reason to unscrew the cap and then bleed the air to “normal”. There is no need to do this.

Renault Duster on a standard stamped wheel, the factory recommends a tire pressure of no more than 2.1 atmospheres

It is usually recommended to check pressure when the ambient temperature changes. That is, if there are seasonal temperature changes, you need to connect the pressure gauge before the trip.

In theory, it is possible to maintain high blood pressure. This helps save fuel. True, on overinflated tires.

Control measurements

Let's conduct an experiment: increase the pressure to 2.3 atmospheres. And we get the following:

  • Fuel consumption on the highway (90-105 km/h) is reduced by 4.5% ();
  • When driving with high speed the body begins to shake and vibrations appear. The noise level also increases, although we have a restyled version of the crossover;
  • They also say that it is better not to drive on the highway in the rain with overinflated tires.

Now let’s answer the question, what pressure should be in Renault Duster tires if you want to save on fuel. You can change the value upward within small limits - up to +0.1 or +0.2 atm. But the savings in any case will not exceed 4-5%. Draw conclusions.

Why, after all, do they increase the pressure on Duster?

Judging by the reviews, it is better to keep the pressure in the Renault Duster wheels at 2.2 atmospheres. But only if you don’t plan to leave the asphalt.

Consequences of going off-road with high blood pressure

Owners of a car with a two-liter engine do this: inflate the tires, get a 5 percent savings and are satisfied.

A crossover with a 2.0 liter engine weighs more than a car in basic version. But tires are inflated not at all because of the weight of the car, but only for the purpose of fuel economy. A two-liter engine “eats” more, which means you need to try to improve efficiency.

By the way, one thing is really important - that the pressure is the same on the left and right. This is especially true for the wheels installed at the front. Be careful – we don’t need “skew”!

We find optimal pressure yourself - video instructions

At first glance, this topic may seem inappropriate and useless, however, if you look into the situation, it still makes sense. It concerns the tire pressure of the SUV. After all, some people note nervous handling of the car after purchase. Not everyone notices this, but there are precedents. After measurements, it turns out that the crossover tires are simply overinflated.

Cause

It involves transporting cars. It is no secret that they are delivered to Russia on car transporters. To make the car more stable while traveling on a platform, the pressure in the wheels is intentionally increased. The problem is that not all employees dealer centers After delivery, they bleed the air - often they simply forget to do this.

A clear example of an overinflated Renault Captur wheel.

The result is an excessively harsh ride and deterioration in the Captur’s handling. In addition, in the summer heat the situation only gets worse, as the asphalt heats up under the sun's rays. At the same time, notice excess pressure in the wheels when external inspection It’s not easy - he comes to use a pressure gauge.

As measurements by crossover owners show, there are cases when the wheels of a car are inflated to 2.5 atmospheres, while the norm for them is considered to be 2.0 atmospheres, which is reflected in the operating manual and on the plate stuck in the car.,
