I would like to briefly tell you about my visit to the official dealer and the completion of a major maintenance of 90,000 on a Pajero 4. This major maintenance includes two costly operations to replace the timing belt, with all the rollers, and changing the oil in the automatic transmission.
But I decided to undergo this maintenance at 85,000 km, since I am planning a road trip around Kazakhstan and I want to be completely confident in my car. At the same time, the officials would completely check my Pajero-4.

I bought my car from the officials and always had it serviced by them. Only at 80,000 km did I change the oil in another place, it turned out a little cheaper there. For example, I still have original spark plugs and the car has never started the second time, always without problems the first time. Looking ahead to the timing belt, I’ll say that I also had it in very good condition. good condition, but the manufacturer himself recommends changing it at 90,000 km or after 6 years, as the rubber loses its properties and begins to crumble. The belt can last 120,000 km, but where is the guarantee that it will not burst after 90,000 km? My car is already seven years old, so I decided to change it, I wouldn’t want any trouble to happen in the middle of the steppe or in the mountains.

The officials also advised cleaning both radiators - cooling and air conditioning. Over seven years of operation, they became quite clogged. I asked if it really needs to be cleaned or if it can be done without it? The servicemen answered - it’s your responsibility, what if you go to the mountains, where the engine might overheat? In the end, I didn’t take any risks, agreed to the cleaning, and for good reason! When the radiators were cleaned, there was much more dirt and fluff than we expected!

I changed it the same way brake fluid, coolant was added free of charge, since the level was at a minimum. I thought about changing the power steering fluid, but it turned out to be still normal, it was changed at 52,000 km. They recommended maybe by winter if there is a desire.

Another good thing about the officials is that they won’t miss a single mistake, they’ll even play it safe. In particular, they recommended changing the rear pads, although there is still some stock there. They also changed deflection roller, which was noisy. When they showed it to me removed, it not only made noise, it even played a little when I twisted it in my hands! We didn't even miss that!

They also replaced the ball joint. I didn’t have any particular complaints about the suspension, everything seemed to be in alignment and didn’t make any knocks. But then, when I looked at the replaced ball joint, I realized that it was on its last legs. It dangled easily in the hands, and in long journey, on the bumps, could even die.

The next step was cleaning oxygen sensor. I will say that after this, consumption immediately dropped by 2-3 liters in the city!
