Pajero sport update in SUV design. New Mitsubishi Pajero Sport - want to be Prado? Richer equipment and economical "diesel" for the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

The manufacturer introduced a minor update to the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2019 SUV. The main changes affected the design of the radiator grill, which added new chrome elements. In addition, the taillights have got a more expressive edging. The logo on the hood was on the pre-styled version in the Japanese market, and now it will appear on the export version. Technically, the car hasn't received any updates from last year's version. The main competitors of the SUV are, and. But the new Japanese has something to oppose to such eminent brands.

High quality and reliable car

Mitsubishi officially completed work on the model back in 2018. The basic version of the GLX is suitable for both urban jungle and rough terrain. Initially, the car was presented as a five-seater SUV, but by the end of the year, its seven-seater entered the market. Overall, the range of off-road-ready Triton-based station wagons performed well in tests. The long-term development of technology has led to the fact that in crash tests the car is gaining from 7.5 to 8 points. The 2019 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is a new model, and the photo, the price show the external restyling, which added impressiveness and aggressiveness to the car.

The car's predecessor, the Shogun Sport Mark I, first rolled off the assembly line in 1996 and the company decided to close the lineup in 2009. Therefore, if someone is lucky enough to be a farmer or someone needs a reliable, pliable and well-equipped workhorse, then the best solution is Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, which has been sold under the Montero, Pajero, Shogun and Challenger brands over the years.

At $ 45,500 last year, the nominal $ 500 price increase seems fair given that the 2019 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is known to have an impressive array of options:

  • 18-inch wheels;
  • front collision sensors;
  • adaptive cruise control;
  • improved interior from premium materials;
  • a large number of additional ports and outputs to satisfy the appetite of a large family for charging electrical devices.

Exterior

The 2019 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is successfully moving away from its Triton roots in some areas. The design of the wheels, the center stack and the design of the console have changed significantly, and the shape of the instruments and switches has changed inside. The driver's seat is high, but it can be mechanically adjusted.

The ground clearance of the 2019 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has increased by 6 mm and now stands at an impressive 218 mm. Depending on the version, the size of the rims does not change, they differ only in design.

This 4.8-meter, 2.1-ton, seven-seater SUV features a new drivetrain featuring a track set and a lockable rear differential. The power of the 2.4-liter turbodiesel is 181 liters. with. There is also a new eight-speed automatic transmission with the ability to switch to manual control in particularly difficult areas. Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2019 did not receive a new body, and the photos, configurations and prices strongly resemble the car of 2018.

Australian designers from the ARB studio, which regularly updates the popular SUV, have already developed updated power bumpers and side skirts for the new Japanese. The geometric cross-country ability of the SUV is very worthy:

  • entry angle - 30 degrees;
  • exit angle - 24.2 degrees;
  • ramp angle - 23 degrees;
  • roll angle - 45 degrees.

Interior

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2019 is now almost visually indistinguishable from versions located higher on the financial ladder. The basic equipment is quite rich. She is equipped with:

  • reversing camera;
  • parking sensors;
  • keyless entry;
  • start / stop button;
  • fabric trim;
  • front seats with mechanical adjustment;
  • a touchscreen infotainment system that features DAB + audio and Airplay;
  • mirroring information from a smartphone;
  • own satellite navigation.

The 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system provides all the necessary information about the current state of the car. Digital radio and mirroring of Apple smartphones may be preferred by urban dwellers and, to a lesser extent, regional owners. Standard FIT GPS provides navigation. The reversing camera is very decent. It mounts slightly above the towbar mount, which is used for trailer or towing purposes.

Given that this is a large SUV with a relatively narrow body, the manufacturer has gone to great lengths to provide ample room for second-row passengers with decent legroom. All in all, the cabin is very cozy, with high seat bases. In terms of dimensions, the interior of the SUV is on par with the interior of the compact Volkswagen Polo hatchback: both are perfect for children and great for two adults. Convenient grip handles, installed not only on the first row pillars, but also on the second row pillars, helping passengers get into and out of the cabin.

The large buttons and simple analog dials are old-fashioned, but at least easy to find on rough roads, Mitsubishi engineers decided to stick with their proven technology.

The specification seems quite complete, although there is one omission - the lack of sat nav in the basic version, however, the manufacturer claims that the standard integration of Apple Car Play and Android Auto allows the system to be used with mobile phones, but European standards require built-in navigation. The more expensive model is equipped with a system for preventing unauthorized overclocking, which, given next year's security standards, will probably be installed on all versions of the novelty.

There are ventilation holes in the ceiling above the third row. They can also be used to cool food. One of the main achievements of Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2019 is a large number of connectors:

  • four USB sockets;
  • 12 V socket;
  • three-pin socket 150 W / 220 V;
  • HDMI input near the console body.

With the rear row of seats folded down, the useful boot volume is 1,624 liters. The seats fold forward, providing a level platform for bulky goods.

Specifications

Even in the basic Invite configuration, the car competes with the Toyota Fortuner GX (cost $ 42,590). At the start of sales, the minimum bundle will cost 2,379,000 rubles for the promotion.

The Super Select II 4 × 4 system will allow the transmission to move between two and four wheels on the move at speeds up to 100 km / h, although the low range is accessed through the transfer case at rest.

The 2019 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will cost a little more than its competitors, and the only thing the car lacks is the rear differential lock, which is installed exclusively in the five-seater version.

The 2.4-liter diesel engine is absolutely quiet at low revs in the range of 1000-2500 rpm. The engine delivers consistent tractive effort through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Japanese manufacturer has worked out a pretty slick drivetrain combination. The manufacturer claims a combined fuel consumption figure of 8.0 L / 100 km on the combined cycle.

Stable road behavior is inherent in the car. The SUV enters corners smoothly for reliable traction.

According to company policy, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2019 is covered by a standard five-year warranty of 100,000 km. A three-year car service is also available.

For some reason, it is generally accepted that a change in the place of assembly of a car from far abroad to the harsh Russian expanses leads to a sharp drop in quality, even if we are talking about moving the assembly line from some bearish corner of Latin America. Together with the restyling, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport SUV has also changed its place of registration, which, instead of distant tourist Thailand, is now assembled in its native Kaluga. Dealers of the brand from the Okami group of companies kindly offered us to personally verify the advantages and disadvantages of the Russian assembly of the updated SUV.

This restyling of the famous SUV is the last, then only a change of generations. So far, apparently, even Mitsubishi does not know what it will lead to, so if the need for a full-fledged "rogue" does not allow you to sleep at night, you should hurry up with the choice. Restyling, however, can hardly be called serious - the manufacturer chose to limit itself to a light "facelift", so that the SUV has not lost any of its long list of advantages.

All the differences from the pre-styling one are a new radiator grill, bumper and slightly modified rear optics. Oh yeah, more new rims

How can you recognize the updated Pajero Sport? The easiest way is to use a different radiator grill. Then - on the modified front bumper and new rims. In general, the list contains exactly what the SUV diligently covers with mud, just living its normal life. After a thoughtful travel to places where Makar will never drive calves, it will not be possible to understand the results of plastic surgery. And God bless him, to be honest. It's not about looks.

Such off-road jumps can provoke an attack of seasickness in the rear passengers, but the SUV itself will not do the slightest harm

Exactly the same is not the case in interior design - honest Pajero Sport offers that "necessary and sufficient" level of comfort, which is required for a full-fledged fighter off-road. The harsh plastic is not afraid of the surrounding dirt, it is easy to get into the buttons and climate control knobs even when jumping from another pothole, the transmission levers require a real man's hand ... It is spacious and kindly cozy here: the SUV does not seek to pretend to be a newfangled crossover, promising in return a simple but complete adventurous life. In order for the driver to be able to find himself these very adventures, Pajero Sport has everything you need.

The Super Select transmission allows the SUV to paddle with all four wheels and on tarmac. Having driven off from it, you can sequentially use the lowering row in the transmission and the locking of the rear center differential

I remember that one of the hypotheses about the untimely abandoned dinosaurs says that they became extinct because they could not adapt to the changed world. From a constructive point of view, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is the same dinosaur, if you approach it with the standards of our technological modernity. But, fortunately, he is not going to die out, because around us there are still plenty of islands of that very reality where he feels like a fish in water. Well, or like an SUV in the mud. Honestly, we with all our horde, who had grasped for freedom, diligently searched on the territory proposed by the organizers for a place where we could seriously test the "Padzherik" who had arrived from Kaluga for strength. But, to our shame, they did not find it: Pajero Sport grinded everything that we offered him with its fashionable disks with the most ordinary winter tires, and did not even choke.

Though crawling and vnatyag, even with a swoop and twisting the engine "in a ringing": Pajero Sport chewed the proposed obstacles without much effort

The 2.5-liter diesel, which is the base for an SUV, has impressive traction over a very wide rev range. This motor was invented a long time ago, but now Pajero Sport is equipped with its modernized version, which not only pulls well, but also requires little. On the asphalt, the duet of a diesel engine and a leisurely 5-speed "automatic" gives the SUV a rather phlegmatic character. The very "long" steering wheel also makes its contribution, on which in sharp turns you literally have to wind up, simultaneously trying to insure passengers from impressive rolls. But off-road, all these by no means light factors turn into solid advantages.

In the interior - no changes, with the exception of a more "advanced" multimedia system, which is installed in older trim levels.And so - all the same simplicity and functionality

Diesel traction is enough to "vnatyag", without haste to overcome both slopes and clay ruts stirred by colleagues in a slippery mess. A fairly damped gas pedal, which has to be pushed on the asphalt in order to achieve an intelligible acceleration, outside of it insures against possible slipping and, as a result, self-entrainment. The steering provides the long SUV with unexpected agility wherever active maneuvering is required. And a truly masculine transmission with a transfer case, a reduction gear and the possibility of appropriate locks turns the Pajero Sport into a small bulldozer that will stop only if it hits a wall. Well, or it sits on its belly - it is the ground clearance (after the corners of entry and exit) that can be considered the main factor that determines whether an SUV will pass here or not.

The Russian assembly has an indisputable plus - Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has become more affordable

Liaisons between sections of total off-road can be overcome without any discount on the quality of coverage. The stunningly energy-intensive suspension is capable of withstanding, perhaps, any rhythm of movement without consequences for itself. For myself - but not for passengers, because as the speed increases, the pitching in the cabin also increases. This is especially noticeable on the back sofa, so that caring for colleagues (or family members), grabbing at anything on the second row of seats, can also manifest itself in the choice of a comfortable pace of driving. In general, the Pajero Sport's vibration load is also all right - the shock of the suspension against potholes is transmitted to the steering wheel, vibrations from the engine are transmitted to the transfer lever, but in a harsh SUV this is taken for granted.

The SUV's rear couch is still spacious in the shoulders and legs, but it is set low

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport roads, by and large, are useless. His element, his world - where only the notorious directions remained from the roads. Its markings are a compass needle, and traffic lights are moss on trees and forest boulders. And, it seems, this dinosaur will have to survive the total tilt of manufacturers towards light crossovers. Mitsubishi, which recently shared its plans for the near future, apparently has no intention of turning its Pajero Sport into another asphalt polisher. It's just that with the design of Japanese artists, quite strange processes have been going on lately, but perhaps by 2016, when the concern intends to present a new generation of SUVs, everything will be fine.

Mitsubishi is going to present three off-road concepts at the next exhibition in Tokyo. Perhaps one of them will be the forerunner of the new Pajero Sport

For now, we will enjoy the updated price list for an SUV with a "smart face": the transfer of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport assembly site to Kaluga had a positive effect on its price. The basic version of the 2014 model year SUV with all-wheel drive, all off-road devices, a diesel engine and a manual transmission now costs 1,319,000 rubles (20,000 rubles cheaper than before). The most affordable Pajero Sport with "automatic" is priced at 1,389,990 rubles, and for the version with a petrol three-liter V6 you will have to pay at least 1,399,990 rubles - this is already 30,000 less than the price of Pajero Sport 2013 model year. The most expensive and richly equipped SUV with a diesel engine costs 1,579,990 rubles, and with a gasoline one - 1,599,990 rubles.

The editors would like to thank the Okami car center, the official Mitsubishi dealer in Yekaterinburg, for a fascinating walk in the woods and positive emotions.

I am sad: there will be no new Mitsubishi Pajero - the current fourth generation will live another year and retire. But I am asked not to dramatize the situation: the new Pajero Sport has been announced as the flagship of the model line. A pensioner with a smartphone: a frame, a rear dependent suspension and a platoon of electronic assistants like an autobraking system. Ok Google, is the Pajero Sport worth buying?

NS The reincarnation that Pajero Sport has experienced is reminiscent of Mickey Rourke's plastic surgery: instead of the charismatic face, to which the brass knuckles of the power bumper went, there is a lip-cheekbone something with headlights on half of the front end. By the way, LED lighting is excellent, especially long-range ones. And what do the red streaks of lanterns symbolize - they say, wash yourself with bloody tears, competitors? So we have only two of them left: yes ...

The fit has become more comfortable, the finish is better, the steering wheel is heated in the places of the correct grip. Plus additional sheets of vibration and noise isolation

After my own third-generation Pajero, the new Sport is a bit cramped: the proximity of the front pillar and the passenger on the right presses, you can get bruises on the silvery sides of the tunnel in the center. The seat itself has become noticeably more comfortable - the chair is located higher, its pillow is longer - but where to put the little things you need on the trip? Instead of a full-fledged two-level box between the seats, there is a modest compartment with an uncomfortable shelf; there is no capacious basement under the center console. And try to open the lid of an empty glove compartment: you need not only to press the button, but also to pull the edge with your fingernail. It remains to dump everything in the capacious pockets on the doors.

The devices are simple and straightforward - just what you need for an SUV

The cabin is surprisingly quiet. The 2.4-liter 4N15 turbo diesel, already familiar to me from the L200 pickup, will appear only next year, and the good old 4D56 engine will no longer be on the Russian market. While under the hood there is no alternative petrol "six" 3.0 with a capacity of 209 hp. This is less than before: the engineers returned the conventional intake tract, getting rid of the system for changing its length.

Mitsubishi Connect pleases with the high-speed performance and decent sound of the audio system. There is no native navigation, but there are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto applications for deep integration with smartphones - you can display the Google Maps program on the screen

The voice of the "six" is beautiful, but there is enough traction, only while the salon is empty - in the expeditionary layout Pajero Sport is unhurried, but does not complain of appetite. The new "automatic" Aisin with its eight gears skillfully imitates the nature of DSG preselections and already at 70 km / h rolls in the seventh stage at almost idle - but despite this, even with road tires outside the city, the new Sport consumes more than 12 l / 100 km: the power reserve on a 70-liter tank does not exceed 560 km. And the drivetrain's love for top gears goes sideways when you need to accelerate with the flow. You have to press the gas pedal deeper, the box catches itself too hard - and the acceleration turns out to be too intense.

To help huge mirrors and slender stands - four all-round cameras. They can be turned on forcibly with a key on the steering wheel, the system works up to 10 km / h. The picture quality in the daytime is decent

It is treated only by transferring to manual mode - but then, before a complete stop, the first gear turns on with a noticeable unfriendly jab. Return the old five-speed "automatic"! Yes, he was slow, but logical. But do not touch the appeared transmission cooling radiator: now the box does not overheat and does not go into emergency mode, even if you climb the hill for a long time.

There is enough space in the back, there is heating, but the pillow is too low - you have to sit with your knees up. The backrest is adjustable in tilt angle

Changes to the chassis are like a two-sided medal. Front - handling: day and night with its predecessor! He tilted heavily and sometimes fell: look how many "shifters" are on sale in the secondary market. But now the steering wheel has become much "shorter" (3.7 turns between extreme positions instead of the previous 4.5), there is adequate effort on it. Plus new springs, shock absorbers and anti-roll bars. The all-wheel drive Super Select II transmission - with a self-locking center differential Torsen, whereas before the viscous coupling was responsible for blocking.

Despite the fair amount of roll, the wheels do not come off the road. Even at full load - not a hint of tipping over

It's not in vain! I have a good feel for what is happening with the steer wheels, and rolls in corners hardly raise my blood pressure. And the stabilization system is brilliantly tuned. Keeping in mind how, I decided to repeat the spectacular shot. I loaded Pajero Sport to full weight, sat down on the right, and freed up a place behind the wheel for our expert Yaroslav Tsyplenkov. But - no chance of overturning! The electronics slowed down smoothly and effectively, and the Sport simply floated out of the corner, instead of ripping the unloaded inner wheels off the asphalt.

The trunk is huge and there are hooks on the floor for the net. In the usual position, things are hidden by a roller blind. The transformation is standard and not too comfortable: the rear seat folds down and rises vertically

But the smoothness of the ride ... Why does Mitsubishi constantly shake as if driving on square wheels? On any surface! Each pit accompanies you about fifty meters until you get into the next one - stopping at a traffic light, you feel like a road worker who has broken away from a puncher. And you can't go faster than 40 km / h on a dirt road - where the L200 pickup easily allowed you to go 80 km / h. Moreover, on especially large bumps, it is noticeable that the compression travel of the front suspension is almost completely selected.

Next to the two-arm buttons for heating the front seats is the rear differential lock button and the switch for the blind spot monitoring system. It's funny that the indicator of its work lights up even on the dashboard.

But off the roads Pajero Sport is still a fighter. The angle of entry has slightly decreased due to the massive front bumper, but the rear, on the contrary, is extremely compact, and the ground clearance under the standard metal engine protection is 216 mm. The huge wheel arches just ask for large tires of the Mud Terrain class, behind the front bumper there is plenty of room for a winch. And if you crawl slowly along the ruts and gullies, then the suspension moves command respect.

Next to the "automatic" selector, there is a transfer case control washer and large buttons for turning on the hill descent assistant and off-road modes of the traction control system. Indication of programs - on the dashboard. You can change the set descent speed using the gas and brake pedals.

Transmission modes are switched with a swivel washer, not a lever. As before, Pajero Sport allows you to drive in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive modes, and on any road. Going down into the ravine? The first step is to lock the center, then you can use a downshift with a number of 2.57 instead of the previous 1.90. Unfortunately, as with the L200 pickup, it takes too long to wait for the actuators to fire. And to lock the differentials, you often need to jerk the car back and forth. Just like in the Niva!

The electrical wiring in vulnerable places was laid carelessly (first slide), and it is very easy to tear off the brake hose loop behind the rear axle (second slide) in the rut. The breathers are now not brought out high into the spars - they need to be redone to force fords and deep puddles. The standard metal protection is replete with slots for blowing the radiator package (third slide), but because of this it will become an excellent dirt collector. But behind the front and rear bumpers there are powerful stationary lugs, and of the large parts below the frame, only the gas tank hangs

By the way, if you forcibly clamp the rear differential, then all auxiliary electronics will turn off, up to the ABS. But believe me, in some situations, the traction control system's help will come in very handy. For example, on an uphill, when one of the front wheels is unloaded and there is no way to take an obstacle in motion. Instead of a useless frenzied spin, the brake will gently grab the spinning wheel and the Pajero Sport will keep moving.

Moreover, the number of off-road modes is even excessive: Gravel, Mud / Snow, Sand and Stones. The response to the gas pedal is the same in all positions, but in the Stones Pajero Sport practically does not allow slipping, and in the Dirt, on the contrary, it allows the wheels to make several revolutions. Gravel and Sand are very close to each other and are located in the middle in terms of slip. A logical setting.

The permissible ford depth is 800 mm, however, although the air intake is raised up, it is directed in the direction of travel

And the main thing is that the system really works. Just to activate it, you need to turn off the rear differential lock. How to move the car back and forth for this if it is already stuck?

Anyway, now you'll think ten times more whether to scratch your sides with branches, or drown in puddles. After all, Pajero Sport is no longer a "Japanese UAZ": at least 2 million 750 thousand rubles for the Instyle version with leather interior, heated seats and steering wheel and 18-inch wheels. And the Ultimate car, which we tested, is "loaded" with a system for monitoring blind spots and automatic braking - and they ask for another two hundred thousand more. For the first time in history, Sport is more expensive than Pajero!

Standard rear mudguards do not save the bumper from sandblasting from under the wheels

Maybe not to move off the asphalt? But why then the frame, the continuous rear axle, all the blockages - and this constant shaking even on a seemingly smooth road?

Of course, the suspension issue can be solved by tuning. For most, however, the new Sport is too expensive to build a rogue or expedition vehicle, and the threat of being canceled for alterations is still valid. And only managers from the Russian representative office of Mitsubishi can see a prestigious SUV in Sport.

Or I'm wrong?

Generations of Sports

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport of the first generation(1996-2010) was created on a shortened chassis of the L200 pickup with front independent torsion bar and rear dependent spring suspension. After modernization in 2000, the rear springs were replaced with springs, in the range of engines, in addition to "fours", petrol 2.4 (110 hp) and turbo diesel 2.5 (85 hp), appeared "six" (175 hp). In the US, the SUV was marketed as the Montero Sport, usually with an advanced Super Select transmission, while in other markets it was sold as a hard-coupled Easy Select front-wheel drive. 630 thousand cars were produced.

The second generation Pajero Sport has been produced since 2008, it is created on the chassis of the fourth generation L200 pickup truck. In the rear dependent suspension, springs were immediately used instead of springs, a seven-seat version appeared. Three petrol engines - 2.4 (160 HP), 3.0 (220 HP) and 3.5 (210 HP) - and two turbodiesels: 3.2 (200 HP) and 2.5 (up to 178 HP). from.), transmission - only Super Select. It was originally produced in a factory in Thailand, and then assembled in Brazil, Venezuela, India, Bangladesh and Russia (from 2013 to 2015). To date, about 400 thousand cars have been produced.

The issue of updating the flagship of off-road models Mitsubishi has matured a few years ago, and in 2018 it will apparently be resolved. To the delight of fans of the 2019 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport model, it will seriously refresh its exterior, receive a new line of engines, a more comfortable interior, while maintaining its reliability.

The appearance of the car after restyling has changed quite a lot, but retained the features of style and aggressiveness. In addition to the familiar elements of Pajero fans, several new ones will appear, giving the car a powerful and even ferocious look.

The face of the 2019 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport remained quite short, lean, but at the same time tall and rounded. The bonnet lid is at the same height in relation to the road almost along its entire length and has a rather modest relief, which manifests itself in the form of a slight rise in the center. Directly under the bonnet is a stylish radiator grille in the corporate identity of the Japanese company in the form of several horizontal lines painted with chrome.

The new model boasts quite successful optics, which can have a halogen or LED filling. The body kit below it is made in the popular and practical X-style. In the middle of the bumper there is a modest-sized air intake mesh, which in the photo practically merges with the surface of the body kit. Fog lights are located on the edges of the body in more compact recesses, and at the very bottom there is a protective plate that protects against damage.

The profile of the new body received practically no new elements. Among the innovations, one can note slightly protruding wheel arches, slightly submerged middle parts of the doors, as well as a small sill. The glazing is still not different in volume, but a good view is guaranteed for both the driver and passengers. The perimeter of the glasses is painted with glossy paint, which visually separates them from the rest of the sidewall elements. The exterior mirrors still look awkward: very large, rather archaic in shape and without turn signal repeaters.

What will pleasantly surprise the owner of the updated Pajero Sport is its stern. The door is located almost perpendicular to the road, and almost half of its area is glass. A cute little spoiler hangs over it. To the bottom, huge vertical lights of a complex configuration are piled up. The bumper is practical and simple, it is protected from below and contains only a single exhaust pipe and a spare wheel under the bottom.

Interior

The interior of the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2019 model year is distinguished by restraint and severity. It has changed quite insignificantly, the finishing materials have remained the same as before: plastic, a little leather and quite a bit of metal inserts.

Driver's seat

The visual center of the dashboard is a bright, but small screen of the multimedia system, from which you can launch most of the car's functionality. A little lower there are physical buttons, however, their area of responsibility extends mainly to climate control, driving modes and suspension operation.

The transition of the center console to the tunnel is quite smooth, it is not replete with elements: only a gear selector, a handbrake, a pair of cup holders and an armrest, in the depths of which there is an additional glove compartment. There are also buttons, but there are not many of them.

The steering wheel is outwardly inconspicuous; it looks very massive, despite the fact that there are very few buttons on it: only for working with a phone and music. The dashboard looks quite archaic: two wells of a speedometer and a tachometer, a small visor above them and an on-board computer literally squeezed between the rounds.

Seats and trunk

The armchairs are made simply: the upholstery is made of not very strong and brand of fabric and the filling is soft, not quite pleasant to the body. Experts who have tested the car on a test drive unanimously declare that such seats are not very suitable for a long journey. This impression is reinforced by the lack of lateral support and the minimum number of settings.

All of the above can be attributed to the second row, which is quite spacious, there is also a double third row.

But the trunk will delight both a summer resident and a fisherman or just a travel lover. In the standard form, the volume slightly exceeds 400 liters, which is not very much, but by folding the second row, you can get five times more free volume!

Specifications

In terms of technical equipment, the 2019 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport continues to delight in reliability. The diesel unit with a volume of 3.2 liters and a capacity of about 200 horses has been slightly improved, gasoline engines with a volume of 3 and 3.8 liters, producing 178 and 250 forces, respectively, have also become a little more modern and consume a little less fuel. All engines will work in tandem with an 8-speed "automatic".

As for the drive - it will always be only full, but the front axle can be manually disabled. To overcome off-road conditions, a downshift, coupled with a differential lock, will be a very useful option. It is worth noting that even in extreme operating conditions, the economic characteristics of the car will be quite at the level and will not exceed 12-13 liters of fuel per hundred kilometers traveled.

Options and prices

The Japanese automaker will offer the 2019 Pajero Sport model in three trim levels: Intense, Instyle and Ultimate. Already in the database, buyers will receive a complete set of security, decent music and a multimedia system. However, much more equipment will be installed in top-end versions, the price of which will exceed three million rubles.

In such cars, additional stiffening bars will be installed, about a dozen airbags, heating of everything that is possible, LED optics, headlight washers, adaptive cruise. In addition, the interior will be leather, the tailgate will be opened using electricity, and the multimedia system will acquire additional functions.

Premium copies will also receive multi-colored illumination, many sensors and cameras, parking sensors, several “smart” assistants, a central key and the function of starting the engine from a distance.

Sales start in Russia

There is still no complete information regarding the release date of the new Pajero Sport in Russia, however, dealerships are already accepting pre-orders for the purchase of the car. This means that it will most likely enter the salons in the summer of 2018.

Competing models

Pajero is not expected to have a large number of competitors: in addition to compatriots and, one can only name the Land Rover Range Rover. All these copies show approximately equal driving performance both in the city and on the highway, and off-road, but they win a little in terms of the exterior and interior design, but they cost a little more.
