We counted, wept: replacing an automatic transmission with a Datsun on-DO. Datsun mi-DO engine (hatchback) characteristics, device. Engine datsun he up to howl cpp datsun he up

The Datsun on-DO sedan received good technical characteristics in its B-class. Despite its compactness, the Datsun on-DO car looks decent on the domestic automotive market.

dimensions

The Datsun on-DO wheelbase provides adequate comfort on the road and is 2476 mm with a vehicle length of 4337 mm. The width and height of the body are 1700 and 1500 mm, respectively. The ground clearance (clearance) is 174 mm.

Luggage compartment

Datsun on-DO has a spacious trunk and surpasses the domestic Lada Granta. The loading volume of the sedan is 530 liters. Additionally, the trunk holds a full-size spare tire.

The Datsun on-DO sedan is equipped with an engine familiar to Russian motorists from Lada Kalina. The motor has four cylinders in an in-line arrangement. The eight-valve engine, which is installed in Datsun on-DO, has a volume of 1.6 liters (1596 cm³). The distributed fuel injection system, which the engine is equipped with, is electronically controlled, which is a plus from a technical point of view.

The maximum power of the unit is 87 horsepower (it is also equipped with an 82-strong unit) and reaches 5100 rpm, while the peak torque stands at around 140 Nm at 3800 developed rpm.

The maximum speed of the unit is 165 kilometers per hour, while it gains a hundred in 12.9 seconds. You can see the engine in the photo below.

Transmission

Before installing the transmission on Datsun on-DO, the developers significantly modernized the domestic gearbox. Datsun on-DO is equipped with only a five-speed manual transmission, which has received an Atsumitec cable drive. The German company Shaeffler equips the car with shift forks.

The automatic transmission is not currently implemented, but the development company plans to equip its vehicles in 2016.

Fuel consumption

The car fully complies with EURO-4 standards and meets all environmental requirements and characteristics. The Datsun on-DO consumes 9.7 liters in city mode, 6.1 liters on the highway and 7.4 liters in mixed mode.

The preferred brand of gasoline for the sedan is AI-95.

Suspension and steering

Datsun on-DO is equipped with front-wheel drive, which he inherited from Lada. Specialists from Nissan have debugged and perfected the suspension.

Improving the domestic suspension from Lada allowed Japanese engineers to increase the ground clearance to 174 mm. This ground clearance exceeds the specifications of the Grants. Thanks to such technical subtleties, driving a Datsun on-DO car becomes much easier.

The front wheels are fitted to the Datsun on-DO sedan thanks to McPherson, which has already become the standard in the automotive industry. The rear wheels are mounted on a transmission beam with a semi-independent scheme.

The suspension elements are perfectly balanced from a technical point of view and make the Datsun sedan practical and reliable on our roads.

Outcomes

With small overall dimensions of the body, Datsun on-DO has excellent technical characteristics... The parameters are supported by the affordability of the price, which makes Datsun on-DO a worthy representative in the Russian automotive market.

We delayed a little the promised news about the Russian Datsun, but we dare to assure you that it is absolutely not in vain. We had at our disposal some details about the transmission and the engine for one of the complete sets of the "state employee" of the revived brand.

Our Datsun specification is based on Lada Kalina. The Japanese "state employee" will have a wheelbase of 2,476 mm, and its length will surpass the domestic Grant by 70 mm, that is, it will be equal to 4,330 mm. The increase in the dimensions of the foreign car is due to the longer rear overhang - 1060 mm.

It is known that in 2014 AVTOVAZ will start production of two Datsun models. They, as you might guess, will be a sedan (digital code 2195) and a hatchback (index 2197). Like any normal car, "Datsun" will have several versions, including a "luxury" one. According to the site's own data, the top-end Datsun equipment can get a 1.6-liter 8-valve engine. With almost one hundred percent probability, we can talk about the power of this engine - 87 hp. A mechanical five-speed gearbox will work in tandem with it, but more on it below. Since the car belongs to the segment of budget cars (the promised price is within 400,000 rubles), the sedan and hatchback will receive only two front airbags in the "maximum speed". ABS will be taken for granted.

In the photo: the interior of the Indian hatchback Datsun Go. We do not know what it has with the complete sets, but at the premiere they said that the car is equipped with a docking station for a smartphone - this is the kind of "music". Our "Datsuns" in the maximum configuration will be equipped with an audio system with a USB port and a pair of speakers.

Let's move on to the transmission. We assume that the 87-horsepower engine will be paired with a VAZ five-speed manual gearbox. But they are not fools in Nissan-Datsun, they understand that in the event of competition with Lada cars, which are also in the price category up to 400,000 rubles, their cars are simply obliged to stand out with reliable design solutions ...

In the photo: a drawing titled "Datsun Russia" with "suggestions for improving the reliability". It is not hard to guess that we have before us a schematic representation of the checkpoint.

This photo was posted about a month ago on the blog of the user shchukin_vlad, so we do not exclude that some of you may have seen it. On the left in the lower corner in Russian are written measures that, apparently, are planned to be taken to improve the checkpoint:

  • change the type of synchronizers;
  • improve the profile of the teeth;
  • use reinforced bearings;
  • something about gear ratios.

I remember that in September in an interview with Jerome Sego, the head of Datsun Russia, he said something about the Japanese DNA that the Datsuns would have. Perhaps this is it (reliability, quality, comfort, and all things). Looking forward to spring: according to fresh data, Datsun will go on sale in April 2014. Well, we wrote about the appearance of the novelty in the material "

Cars of the Datsun brand are favorably distinguished by the fact that they offer a classic automatic machine in the super-low-cost segment. The unit went to "Datsuns" from the VAZ models "Kalina" and "Grant", which in almost all configurations have already moved to the notorious "robot" AMT with an ambiguous reputation. The price of the popular Korean Kia Rio and Hyundai Solaris has already flown into space, and therefore it is not at all surprising that Datsun cars have a stable audience.

Minimum price

Maximum price

As for the transmission itself, we are talking about a classic automatic with a torque converter from the Japanese company Jatco. The 4-speed automatic transmission once worked its main life cycle in the "Nissan" Micra, Tiida and Note, after which it found a second life in Lada cars. "Datsun" got this unit with reconfigured "brains" and better smoothness of switching. For Datsun on-DO sedans, the automatic machine is offered starting from the Trust I configuration at a price of 526,000 rubles.

Here is what the manufacturer himself writes about this:

We want you to be able to travel as much as possible and get tired as little as possible. Choose a Datsun on-DO with automatic transmission, set the selector to the "Drive" position and no longer be distracted by gear changes. The Japanese automatic transmission with the function of switching off the overdrive (overdrive) for more active movement in the stream works reliably and accurately, providing comfort and pleasure on long journeys and fast journeys.

From Datsun Marketing Materials.

In an amicable way, the time-tested unit should not cause problems for the owners. It is only important to replace the transmission oil with a certain regularity during operation (we recommend doing this even if the replacement is not provided for by the maintenance schedule). However, on the profile forums of Datsun owners, there are already reports of breakdowns of the Jatco automatic transmission.

Some users complain about tangible jerks when switching, others - about electronics "glitches", in which the machine selector is locked in position P, and in special cases the machine simply went into emergency mode and "died".

In case of serious breakdowns, servicemen prefer to change the entire unit as a whole within the framework of the warranty. To find out how much such pleasure costs on the example of the 2017 on-DO "automatic" sedan, we turned to the official dealers of the Datsun brand in Moscow.

As we were informed by the "officials", the price for the Jatco 4-speed automatic transmission assembly is as much as 215,599 rubles. The waiting period for the unit does not exceed a couple of days (the automatic transmission is in the central warehouse), and for service work on replacing the gearbox, adapting it and refueling it with oil, you will have to pay another 29,790 rubles. The total cost is 245,389 rubles!

Spare parts

Datsun on-Do, me-Do. USING THE JACK

1. Engage the 1st gear in the manual transmission or move the variator control lever to the “P” (parking) position, brake the car with the parking brake. Ask passengers to get out of the car. If you have towed a trailer, disconnect it from the vehicle. Remove the key from the ignition to prevent accidental starting of the engine.

4. Grasp the luggage compartment floor cover ...

6. Take the jack from the luggage compartment glove box ...

9. Place the jack foot in the specially provided places located on the body sills near each wheel.

NOTES

The place of installation of the jack under the body sill is marked with notches. The edge of the sill should be above the slot of the jack foot.

10. Insert the shank of the driver into the rectangular hole in the wheel nut wrench.

It looks like a jack prepared for work.

12. Turning the jack knob clockwise, spread the jack so that the edge of the threshold fits into the groove of the jack paw, which is installed perpendicular to the supporting surface.

13. If you are lifting the vehicle to change a wheel, loosen the wheel nuts by half a turn before lifting. Remove the spare wheel from the trunk. Once the vehicle has been lifted, it will not be safe to remove it.

14. Turn the jack knob clockwise to raise the body.

15. Before finally jacking up the vehicle to the required height, check again to see if the jack is tilted to either side.

If possible, do not work under a jacked-up vehicle, but if you cannot do without it, install additional supports under the body.

Additional supports should only be installed under places specially designed for lifting the vehicle.

Place a rubber or wood spacer between the support and the vehicle body. Install the tripod support so that two of its legs are on the side of the car body and one is on the outside.

16. Place the jack, tools and luggage compartment floor cover after use.

The sensations when a huge career "BelAZ" the size of an elite townhouse rides on you, is indescribable. Sitting next to another giant dump truck, he will crush the Datsun on-DO sedan without noticing. Trucks from Zhodino got an automatic transmission half a century ago, and then they became hybrids, but new technologies take root with difficulty on domestic cars. For example, to keep it, "Lada" had to turn into a foreigner, that is, into Datsun.

The Japanese automatic transmission Jatco JF414E began to be installed on Lada in 2012. AvtoVAZ found it too expensive and replaced it with a "robot" of its own design. The Datsun brand, in fact, is also Russian - with cars created on the basis of "Lad" and manufactured in Togliatti. But, on the contrary, it is increasing automation: in addition to the mi-DO hatchback, the automatic transmission is now available for the on-DO sedan.

Datsun wants to please young people

At the beginning of last year, such a box appeared on the second model of the Datsun brand - the mi-DO hatchback, and the sedan has so far been equipped with only "mechanics". Representatives of the company explained this by a different target audience: the buyers of the sedan are older and more conservative. For the same reason, on-DO was painted in solid brown, and mi-DO in red-orange. The marketers had one more hidden intention: the hatchback body is not the most popular in Russia, so mi-DO, which was also appreciated more expensive, should have a tangible advantage over the sedan. This advantage was the "machine".

The automatic transmission is popular: about half of the sold mi-DOs are equipped with it, but the hatchback is still well inferior to the sedan in demand, and the sales of the two models turned out to be far from the planned volumes. The four-speed "automatic", in addition to Lada and Datsun, is also installed on the March hatchback for the Chinese market, produced by a joint venture between Nissan and DongFeng. With such scanty volumes, it makes no sense to keep this transmission in production. This is one of the reasons why Datsun decided to automate on-DO. Although the company is counting on a small share - about 20% of sales - the automatic transmission should increase demand for the sedan among younger audiences and women. In addition, the Russian Datsuns also have export potential: in addition to Kazakhstan and Belarus, where the sedan with the automatic transmission was tested, mi-DO and on-DO began to be supplied to Lebanon.

on-DO is now less like Lada Kalina

The Japanese automatic transmission turned out to be perhaps the strongest side of the model - with it the Datsun, born out of Lada, acquired the features of a foreign car. In the version with the "mechanics" Kalina was clearly visible: the howling of the gears of the domestic transmission was not defeated. Not the most advanced and modern "machine" knew its task, squeezing everything possible and impossible from a weak 8-valve engine. And even resisted braking, pushing the car forward. He recounted the gears more logically and predictably than budget "robots" with one clutch and a similar hydromechanical transmission on the "Logan".

The sedan does not shake on the move

Everything is like in mi-DO: a massive automatic lever, a straight groove, because of which you often miss position D, but there are also small differences. The claimed acceleration of the sedan with automatic transmission is a tenth of a second faster than that of the hatchback, but the numbers are still not impressive: 14.3 s to 100 km per hour. Logan with an 8-valve engine and a "robot", 16-valve "automated" Granta, Solaris 1.4 liters with a 4-speed automatic transmission - all of them are faster, primarily due to more powerful engines.

The on-DO feels assertive, especially with the overdrive off and the transmission not shifting past third gear. The engine and gearbox on the new cars work more harmoniously: now you need to press hard on the gas pedal to keep the car at the traffic lights, and the steering wheel of the on-DO stationary in drive does not shake like on the hatchback that we tested earlier.

on-DO burns fuel honestly

Due to the short main gear, the maximum speed of the car with the "automatic" is limited to 140 km / h, but earlier the acoustic limiter comes into play - a noisy motor at high revs. The on-board computer was calibrated and now it should show more real values, but if earlier it overestimated the remaining fuel in the 50-liter tank, now it seems to underestimate. However, the declared consumption is quite high - 7.7 liters on average and about 9 liters on the on-board computer.

He's ready to roll onto a dirt road

With an increase in speed, the steering wheel blurred in the near-zero zone becomes heavier, and the car becomes more collected. In general, on-DO handling is unassuming: in turns it rolls, shakes the stern on the waves, but another crossover will envy the energy-intensive suspension with gas-filled shock absorbers. For difficult conditions, the "automatic" has fixed gears: with the help of the second one can slow down on the descent, the first one will help to get out of deep snow. Despite the large ground clearance for a B-class sedan, the owner of a Datsun with an automatic transmission will have to be more careful around large stones - the transmission crankcase is located low and is not protected by anything.

Datsun is quieter and more delicate

The car is perceived differently, not only thanks to the "automatic", but also many small changes. With the help of silicone grease, the creaks in the front suspension were defeated, the volume of the stove and air conditioner was reduced. The relays, clicking in the bowels of the front panel, have quieted down. Balancing the fan and smooth engagement of the air conditioner compressor clutch allowed vibration to be removed. Attention was also paid to the quality of the interior assembly: the seat covers are well stretched, the gaps between the parts of the back of the rear sofa have decreased. Now, adjusting or folding the backrests does not require increased effort. The trunk has been refined with new side pads and long-pile upholstery. They put a new rhombic jack in the spare wheel, more reliable than on the Ladakh, and in the new case the emergency kit stopped rattling.

on-DO with "automatic" - the cheapest in the class

For the "machine" will now have to pay 50 thousand rubles. - such a Datsun on-DO costs at least 512 thousand rubles. That's how much they ask for the Trust version without air conditioning, rear power windows and one airbag. The most packed sedan with a multimedia system, side airbags and ESP will cost 602 thousand rubles. - neither Renault Logan, nor Hyundai Solaris with "automatic machines" can be bought for this amount.

Sedan on-DO with automatic transmission for 40 thousand rubles. cheaper than a hatchback in the same equipment - now it is one of the most affordable cars with automatic transmission on the market. Prices for Ravon R2 with automatic transmission and Lada Granta with a "robot" are below half a million rubles, but the first is inferior to on-DO with a 530-liter trunk in terms of roominess, and the second - in terms of smoothness.

Datsun plans to compete with Hyundai Solaris

If earlier the creators of Russian Datsun models were guided by Renault Logan, now they keep in mind a more expensive and better equipped Hyundai Solaris. Prices for a budget Japanese brand continue to rise and the bet on the simplest model turned out to be wrong. Therefore, starting next year, on-DO and mi-DO will begin to equip with more powerful 16-valve AvtoVAZ engines (106 hp), which will be combined with Japanese "automatic machines". Datsun has not yet seen alternatives to the Jatco automatic transmission and are definitely not planning to change it to the Togliatti "robot".

The motor is not the only innovation. It is possible that new options will appear on Datsuns, for example, now the cars do not have a heated steering wheel, front parking sensors and a rear-view camera. The Datsun lineup lacks a crossover for a complete package, but the third model is rumored to be stalled. Initially, it was planned to create it on the basis of the new Lada 4x4, but as a result the Japanese felt that they still needed a crossover, not an SUV.

The first "automatic machine" in Russia

In the late 1940s, the designer Vsevolod Bakhchivandzhi took up the development of the USSR's first affordable minicar with an automatic transmission. Raw, on the verge of an adventure, the project was given the green light only because the designer promised to create an army all-terrain vehicle on the same base. The first relatively affordable car with an automatic transmission was the Volga GAZ-21, but very few such cars were produced. In the 1970s, a number of exported Zhigulis were equipped with General Motors' three-speed automatic transmissions. By the way, export "Grants" and "Kalina" are still offered with Japanese automatic transmission Jatco.
