Tire manufacturer SAVA: where does the brand come from and where does it have factories? Sava tires Quality Sava tires for all types of vehicles

Tires "Sava" have a good combination of price and quality and are quite famous among auto professionals, mainly due to the truck tires. A large number of standard sizes of passenger and truck tires, as well as tires for special equipment, are produced under this brand.

However, many buyers are wondering - who makes these tires? Who is this brand, who develops new models and where is the production located?

The site "The First for Tires" has collected all the information about the tires "Sava".

In this article, you will learn:

For all of its subsidiary brands, the "parent" concern is developing new tire models, providing technology and equipment, as well as its own dealer network for the sale of products. Thanks to the GoodYear concern, a small Slovenian company is able to offer fairly high-quality products at relatively low prices and sell them all over the world.

Where are tires made

Most of the products under the Sava brand are produced at a plant located in the small Slovenian town of Kranj. The plant produces about 6 million tires worldwide. The models Eskimo, Intensa, Perfecta, Trenta, which are popular in Russia, are also produced here.

In Slovenia itself, the company is one of the largest manufacturing enterprises in the country, and sales of tires under the Sava brand account for more than half of the total tire market.

Brand Tire Benefits

One of the main advantages of tires under the Sava brand for the consumer is their modernity, rather high manufacturability (taking into account the vast experience in the production of GoodYear tires), as well as the cost, which, as a rule, is lower than the cost of the tires of the "parent" concern.

That is, by choosing Sava tires, the buyer receives practically GoodYear products, but pays for it noticeably less than when he chooses tires from a well-known American brand.

Brand history

Slovenian tire brand Sava traces its history back to 1931. It owes its name to the river Sava of the same name, on which the city of Kranj is located - the birthplace of the brand. Since 1998, it has been owned by the American tire concern GoodYear.

Since the purchase by the Americans, the Slovenian company Sava has received very great opportunities, both in the production of tires and in their sale all over the world.

Headquarters Sava located in a Slovenian town Kranj... Previously, production was located only there, but over time, the company scattered factories throughout Europe. Now 100% of the shares of the Slovenian brand are owned by the American tire giant Goodyear... In addition, Sava cooperates with English tire manufacturers Dunlop, 75% of which are also owned by Goodyear. Cooperation with a renowned brand has brought Sava tires to a qualitatively new level.

The Sava company makes rubber for the summer and winter seasons. The sizes are available for passenger cars, crossovers and SUVs, light and medium-duty trucks.

Features of the production organization Sava

The European branches of production employs staff of 1600 qualified employees... Sava plants produce about eight million tires a year, the same number of tires are sold annually in Europe. The industrial complexes of the manufacturer are equipped with modern equipment and are controlled by the parent concern Goodyear. Under his leadership, Slovenian factories also produce products of some other subsidiary brands.

In the small Slovenian town of Kranj, where the headquarters is located, a massive wholesale center an area of 17.1 square kilometers. On the basis of this center, tires are stored in a safe environment - the premises can hold up to a million tires. The wholesale center has been operating since 2002. For Sava, it has become a kind of "anchor" that allowed to establish uninterrupted supplies and strengthen its position in the European market.

The history of the Sava brand

But it didn't start like that. Production was opened in 1921 and it was the first step on a long road to success. Initially, the plant produced rubber products and bore the name Vulkan.

In 1931 the Austrian manufacturer Semperit is eyeing the successful enterprise - the company's shares are transferred to the new owner. The production expands the production of rubber goods, and automobile tires are becoming one of the products.

In 1939 the company changes its owner again. The plant is transferred to German tire manufacturers and begins to work in a narrow specialization. In 1946 the brand was nationalized and the manufacturer was renamed Sava Rubber Products Company. The plant returns to the universal production of rubber products.

In 1956 Sava decides to expand and to this end relocates the plant to the outskirts of the city. The production is in the same place now.

In 1965 The first tubeless tires for high speed travel are released. In 1967 Sava enters into a cooperation agreement with the Semperit brand, which previously bought out the company's shares, and forms a production, which was jointly named Sava-Semperit. In 1972, the joint work of partner enterprises started, and after two years, in 1974, the mass production of radial tires for passenger vehicles was launched. Steel belts were a significant constructive transformation of these tires.

In 1985 Germany acquires the Semperit brand and changes the way production works. While the partners are getting to know the new owner, the Sava brand is expanding and developing updated tire lines.

In 1995 Sava starts negotiations with an American manufacturer Goodyear. In 1997 the Akron-based company is buying back sixty percent of Slovenian securities. After this, the manufacturer catches up with a quick success - at the beginning of the 2000s Sava shares are listed on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, the plant begins to produce five and a half million tires per year.

In 2002 the Americans bought out another 20% of Sava's shares and became owners of 4/5 of all the company's securities. In 2004 the Sava brand is wholly owned by Goodyear... Now the Slovenian manufacturer is working closely with brands known around the world. Among them are "Dunlop" and "Fulda". The company does not stop developing and releases new lines of performance tires.

Sava tire quality

Thanks to cooperation with Goodyear, the Sava brand provides its tires with exceptional performance at an affordable price. All products are tested for quality using special tools developed by the parent company.

Sava never skimps on security.

Not only during the production process, but also immediately before export, the products are tested. Sava tires meet the requirements of the EMEA region.

Almost 90 years ago brothers Frank and Peter Sumi, Alois Pirk and Jozko Weber founded a rubber company in Atlanta. Thus was born the progenitor of Sava, today the leading tire manufacturer in Central Europe, which, after a series of transformations, became part of the Goodyear Group. In 1920, in Kranj, which is now one of the largest cities in Slovenia (at that time it was part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes), four entrepreneurs met with the idea of a joint business. Brothers Frank and Peter Sumi previously traded. The merchant was also Jozko Weber, but from the neighboring Log Hall, while Alois Pirc was a qualified engineer. The quartet of founders began their joint activities by distributing various rubber materials. After a few months, the gentlemen were ripe to reorganize this activity towards production. In 1921, Atlanta changed its name to Vulkan and soon thereafter began producing rubber soles for shoes, and eventually other assortments such as toys, balls and raincoats.

On the tenth anniversary of Vulcan, its bosses and creators decided to sell their child to the Austrian company Semperit. After this change, a new chapter began in the history of the Slovenian company. We add that this was also the beginning of a whole series of property transformations, which ended only in times close to us, in 1997.

Sava - first Semperit, then Continental

A key moment for the company was 1932, when Vulkan decided to sell shares to the Austrian concern Semperit. The company's business has expanded significantly to include bicycle tires, rubber parts for cars, hoses and insulating elements. Acquisition of control in the company was associated with high financial costs, which, in turn, contributed to the systematization of tire production. The investment also allowed for a gradual increase in production and the implementation of related improvements at the plant in the Slovenian town of Kranj.

The company developed under the supervision of Semperit over the next 8 years. In 1939, management decided to sell the shares and transfer the company to German Continental. Then the production of tires began in Kranj - at the beginning of those intended for passenger cars. It is worth noting that at that time the Slovenes also produced over 500 other rubber products intended for various market sectors - from heavy industry to footwear.

Sava - after the war became state property

In 1946, the company began a process of nationalization, which covered not only the Slovenian Republic, but the whole of Yugoslavia. When the company became state-owned, it was renamed Sava Rubber Products Company (originally Tovarna Gumijevih Izdelkov Sava), and the production of tires, tubes, gaskets and rubber conveyor belts was immediately resumed. During this period, the logo was also created, which to this day is a widely recognized symbol and is associated with Sava tires.

The sale allowed for many innovations and expansion of the offer. Thanks to the start of sales on the Central and Eastern European market and the resulting additional funds, it became possible to build another plant. The offer has been expanded with radial, tubeless and bias tires, among others.

Sava - stabilization with Goodyear

Along with the rapid development and opening up to foreign markets, the company again became interested in foreign investors. In 1967, Sava decided to befriend the Austrians from Semperit again, which led to the creation of Sava-Semperit five years later. In 1985, history went almost the same circle for the second time, when Continental became the owner of the Austrian company. Instead of returning to the German company, the leaders of the Slovenian concern began negotiations with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. They ended in a historic agreement in 1997 when Sava became an integral part of the American group. This is still the case to this day.

In the late nineties, the Slovenian company acquired several small companies operating in the chemical and rubber industry (including Belinka, Astra, Chemo and theol). In 2000, just in time for her 80th birthday, Sava made her debut on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange. Over the years, as the company leaders emphasize, Sava has been one of the most recognizable Slovenian brands in the world. Today, the Sava Group holding consists of 31 companies, also operating in industries such as tourism (for example, Sava Hoteli Bled operates a dozen or so hotels in Slovenia), finance, trade, medicine and energy (for example, Ensa, which, among others , production of renewable energy sources). The greatest experience, however, is in the production of tires, as the company has been doing this for several decades. Sava Tires alone currently employs about 1.4 thousand people, and the factories of the Slovenian company produce tires for cars, vans and trucks. In Poland, the Sava brand is one of the leaders on the truck tire market in the economy segment. In 2017, she was awarded the Top Employer Certificate for the fifth time in a row.

Sava tires are quite popular among car enthusiasts. The tire manufacturer manufactures products for both passenger cars and trucks.

The manufacturer produces Sava rubber in different models, the difference in which is in the size range. The Sava Avant 4Plus tires are available in seven variations, which are designed to reduce uneven wear and extend tire life. The geometric pattern on the tire improves moisture drainage and grip on wet surfaces or ice.

For large vehicles, the Sava Cargo 4 is offered, which are presented in sizes 385 / 55R22.5 and 385/65 R22.5. These tires have good grip on slippery roads.

Sava Tire Size

Select the size of the tires in accordance with the characteristics of the car. If installed with a diameter greater than that laid down on the "Save", tires while driving may touch the body of the car, and if less than the prescribed one, then driving will be uncomfortable. Sava tires are available in sizes from 14 to 22.5 inches.

A distinctive feature of the Sava tire is the combination of a geometrically improved tread pattern and quality rubber with a special composition. This combination helps to increase usage time and performance. Due to the improved tread pattern, uniform tire wear is ensured, and together with the rubber compound in the Sava rubber, mileage increases. This mixture contributes to improved grip on wet asphalt pavement, which means shorter braking distances and better maneuverability.

Tires "Sava": who is the manufacturer

The country that produces Sava wheels is Slovenia. The plant is located in the small town of Kranj. In Slovenia, the tire manufacturing company is one of the largest manufacturing plants. It produces approximately 6 million tires a year. The company's products are known in Europe, Asia and Africa.

Today the company is part of the Goodyear concern, which offers the latest developments in the automotive field, thanks to which the Sava tires are of good quality and relatively inexpensive. In 2001, Goodyear acquired a quality certificate.

Characteristics and parameters of summer tires "Sava"

Among the summer tires, Sava Intensa HP and Sava Perfecta are among the best. Sava Intensa HP tires are available in sizes from 14 "to 17". They are noted for acceptable grip, quiet running and softness. They provide good grip on dry and wet asphalt surfaces, perfect handling and uniform abrasion. Summer tires are suitable for use at different speed limits. All summer tires from this manufacturer provide low noise while driving, minimize the danger of aquaplaning, while having a low level of rolling resistance.

Tires "Sava Perfect"

Sava Perfecta is used for lightweight cars and is used as summer tires. They have a four-row tread pattern, which guarantees good grip and controlled handling on wet and dry asphalt roads, as well as uniform wear and a sufficiently long operating time.

Model Perfecta

Sava Perfecta is available in 13 ", 14" and 15 "sizes. The advantages include softness, low noise level, confident behavior on wet asphalt.

The popularity of "Perfect" is explained by its good quality and reasonable cost. Ideal for urban use. They have a large mileage parameter and a long time of use.

All this is ensured thanks to several criteria:

  • "Prefecta" with a four-row tread pattern that retains its qualities throughout the entire service life.
  • The appearance of the blocks is adapted in order to ensure a systematic distribution of pressure across the entire area of the tire when the tread touches the road surface. This not only significantly improves traction in different directions, but also reduces the wear of the tread, increasing the time of its use.
  • The composition of Sava rubber contributes to increased resistance to abrasion and resistance to mechanical damage.
  • To get rid of aquaplaning, the Prefecta has different grooves in different directions. The effectiveness of such a measure increases due to the volumetric sharp edges.
  • The tread blocks are of different types and are displaced relative to each other, as a result of which the likelihood of imbalance is reduced and the noise level is significantly reduced.

All these factors ensure the economy in gas mileage.

Sava tires will satisfy the needs of any, even the most demanding car enthusiast. In the catalog, all rubber models are sorted by dimension, which makes it easier to choose tires for cars.
