Ford Fiesta 6th generation. History of Ford Fiesta all generations by year. disease" in the form of a poorly engaging reverse gear

Wherever you look in Russia, there are only “Koreans” everywhere! Solaris or Rio, as a rule. It’s just some kind of conspiracy, but they must have at least some kind of alternative? But there is one - it's called Ford Fiesta. The 6th generation sedan, which underwent its second restyling in 2015. With a corporate “face”, a pleasant dynamic silhouette and economical engines, and even assembled not just anywhere, but in Naberezhnye Chelny. Do you trust domestic assembly? Then get behind the wheel of the sixth Fiesta! But before that, it won’t hurt to read our review - look further for all the details about the model!

Design

The current version of Fiesta is criticized by all and sundry: either it looks like an incorrectly scaled Mondeo, then its image is not harmonious enough, then the “feed” is wrong, without any claims to ingenious design solutions... And Fiesta doesn’t care at all what people think about it - She knows that the car she made was overall nice and attractive. For the city she's simply a beauty - no, she's a sweetie! It fits especially well into the colorful landscapes of famous European cities.

Probably, most of all, representatives of the fair half of humanity will like such a car, because it has something to touch the strings of a woman’s heart: these are elegant narrow headlights and a signature radiator grille with a chrome edging (because of it, the car is easily unknowingly can be confused with other models - for example, with the latest Focus), and very nice round foglights, and an elegant relief hood. Well, really, why isn’t she a beauty? Scold, scold, scold the sixth Fiesta, no matter what the light is worth - it frankly doesn’t care! Yes, it won’t collect all the statuettes, certificates, diplomas (what else do they give?) for its amazing car design, but those who know a lot about cars, despite this, will continue to buy it. Although not in fabulous quantities, however...

Design

The four-door with registration in Naberezhnye Chelny shares the chassis with the EcoSport all-terrain vehicle produced locally. There are MacPherson struts in front and a torsion beam in the rear. The power steering motor is located on the steering column. The design is debugged so that you won’t dig it. It’s hard to imagine why Ford made such a precise, energy-intensive and at the same time decently smooth “trolley”, because in this class they take advantage not of excellent handling, but of extra liters in the luggage compartment, cute “face” and heated seats. And why steering wheel Fiesta's is not just light, as Russian fans of the brand need, but downright surgically precise, even though it comes with an electric steering system. One thing is certain here: the B-Class is not hopeless. Not at all hopeless.

Adaptation to Russian conditions

In preparation for Russian road realities, the sixth Fiesta received springs and shock absorbers with modified characteristics, a washer reservoir of increased volume, a washer fluid level indicator, a heated steering wheel, panic button to call emergency services“Era-Glonass”, as well as a USB connector built into the ceiling console for charging the radar detector and video recorder. The sedan's ground clearance is 167 mm - it is more than enough for daily trips around the city and driving on the highway. The engines available in Russia are unpretentious - each of them consumes 92-octane gasoline without problems.

Comfort

The doors of the top-end Fiesta open after pressing the black buttons on the handles. They can also be opened using the key fob, just like the luggage compartment. They open to their full width, allowing fixation in different positions. To be completely happy, the doors lack additional seals that protect the thresholds from dirt. Inside the car, the instruments immediately catch your eye, the design of which echoes other Ford models. We are talking about blue arrows and “wells” with an original shape. In the center of the instrument panel there is a strange “eye” that is completely useless. So, a simple plastic part for decoration. The fuel level indicator is a pointer, and a small but very functional coolant temperature indicator is located on the miniature screen of the on-board computer. The button at the end of the left steering column lever is responsible for switching indicators. When you hold the steering wheel, it is quite possible to reach it with your little finger. The soft, pliable plastic on the dashboard also attracts attention, because you don’t often see something like this on a B-class car. It’s a pity, but on such a wonderful “torpedo”, when driving on bad roads, a whole cohort of “crickets” wakes up. You shouldn’t blame Fiesta for this - it’s a budget car after all. Especially considering that even upscale Ford cars got the damn savings.

The sedan deserves praise for its ergonomics. Everything is vital important organs in his salon are installed within truly accessible limits, and you don’t need to be a level 60 yogi to, for example, press this or that button. If the bottles in the front cup holders didn’t interfere a little with using the gearshift lever, then the ergonomics here wouldn’t be worth the price! The seats in the 1st row are comfortable. The textile trim tries to look like expensive Alcantara upholstery, which causes some emotion. The transverse “rubber” strips, apparently, should hint to the driver that in the event of a sharp deceleration he will not slide forward from the cushion. The back does not hurt after sitting in the driver's seat for a long time (at least for those who do not have health problems in general). The back is not as comfortable as the front, because free space for the legs right next to each other, and from the floor, a small (10 cm) but literally noticeable central tunnel rises. The back seat will be comfortable only for children or two adults - that's for sure. The trunk of a four-door car, of course, cannot be called a summer resident’s dream, but it’s hard to disagree with the fact that 455 liters. - the volume is quite decent. The length of the compartment for things on the floor is 103 cm. The loading height is not too high - only 71 cm. The cargo is separated from the street by a 220 mm rear wall, which, alas, significantly reduces the loading opening in height - up to 41 cm. In general, the trunk perfect for wide and flat things, but with bulky things you will have to tinker. Oddly enough, a spare tire is stored underground.

You can remember the crash tests of the ubiquitous Euro NCAP, but with a caveat: ours is Russian, Fiesta is different, Naberezhnye Chelny! The authoritative European organization did not even touch it. But for reference: in Euro NCAP tests, the sixth Fiesta (albeit in a hatchback body) earned 5 stars out of 5 possible, demonstrating the following results: driver or adult passenger protection - 91%, child protection - 86%, pedestrian protection - 65% , electronic assistants - 71%. IN basic equipment Fiesta VI includes two front airbags, Isofix mounts for child car seats, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and an Era-Glonass button. In the top, side airbags and a light sensor appear, and for an additional fee, stabilization systems (ESC) and hill climb assistance (HSA) are offered. In addition, the list of options includes an automatic braking system (ACS) and rear sensors parking.

By default, the Fiesta is equipped with a regular CD/MP3 radio with control buttons on the steering wheel, a 2-line display, 6 speakers and a USB port. For an additional fee, a full-fledged Ford SYNC multimedia complex is installed, which makes it possible to “link” the car and a smartphone, read SMS messages on the touchscreen (a privilege of certain gadgets) and customize the car “for yourself”, turning on or off certain devices - stability control system, For example. In addition, there is “advanced” optional Sony acoustics - in the Fiesta it sounds average, but loud.

Ford Fiesta Specifications

In Russia, the sixth Fiesta is sold with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine of the Sigma family, developing, depending on the modification, 85, 105 or 120 hp. After the engine acquired variable valve timing technology, for the sake of uniformity it was renamed Duratec. The unit was created in collaboration with Japanese engineers Yamaha and first appeared before the general public back in 1995. The cylinder head and block are aluminum. The most powerful engine options boast 2 independent intake/exhaust timing control systems. Transmissions are five-speed manual and six-speed PowerShift automatic. Judging by the “passport”, the consumption of 92 gasoline in mixed cycle is 5.9 l/100 km, in the city - 8.4 l/100 km, and on the highway - 4.5 l/100 km. Economical engine, you can’t say anything, but you should keep in mind that real numbers may be higher.

Story

Current generation Ford models Fiesta is the sixth in a row, after the appearance of the first car under this name in 1976. Over the entire period of its existence, more than 10 million Fiestas were produced.

The first Ford Fiestas were produced at factories in Danton, England and Cologne, Germany. The production of the sixth generation of the model started in August 2008 at a plant in Cologne. In March 2009, the hatchback became the best-selling car in Europe.

The exterior of the Ford Fiesta VI is based on kinetic design. Swift overall silhouette, rising window line, exaggerated headlights and tail lights, a huge lower section of the false radiator grille, relief stampings on the sides of the body - everything serves to give the car a kinetic effect even in a static state.

A short and high hood, a “pushed forward” windshield, a roof that ends almost on the same vertical line with the rear bumper are techniques that significantly increase the interior space of the cabin, but do not make the car look too massive and awkward.

The riot of forms continues in the Fiesta interior. A lot of curves and smooth lines, a combination of colors, a lot of buttons - the interior of this car is not an example of brevity.

The audio system on the center console attracts attention; its forward podium, although reminiscent of the dashboard of some cars, is not typical for the class as a whole.

Secondary market 03 August 2011 Choosing the right one (Ford Fiesta, Opel Corsa, Volkswagen Polo)

We continue to consider cars from the “B” segment, and this time the guests of our column will be the thoroughbred cars that are very popular in Europe Opel Corsa, VW Polo and Ford Fiesta. There they sold hundreds of thousands a year, and in Russia their market fate was successful.

Secondary market April 11, 2011 Children of the metropolis (Peugeot 206, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Getz, Opel Corsa)

When choosing such a car for secondary market the top priority, as a rule, is clean utilitarian question: How much will its maintenance and operation cost? And not only because such used cars are most often the first in someone’s life, and money for your first car, as you know, is the most difficult to earn.

City Slickers (Ford Fiesta, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Opel Corsa, VW Polo) Secondary market

Compact cars are indispensable in a city where the streets are filled to capacity with traffic and traffic jams have become commonplace. The main advantages of "B" segment cars are their modest size required for maneuvering and parking, efficiency, and low maintenance costs. At the same time, they are roomy and functional enough to qualify for the role the only car in family. In this issue we will look at models from Germany. Because to all the above-mentioned advantages they add that same “real German quality” that guarantees reliability and durability.

Optical illusion (Opel Corsa C, Ford Fiesta, VW Polo) Secondary market

Compact machines very popular in European countries, where for car enthusiasts there are almost main criterion- practicality, before which all other considerations fade into the background. And our compatriots previously did not even look in the direction of small cars - driving them was considered unprestigious. But recently, when Russia’s vehicle fleet has increased many times and the streets of megacities are filled to capacity with transport, the demand for small cars has begun to grow rapidly. They attract with their compactness and nimbleness (valuable qualities for maneuvers and parking in crowded cities), efficiency, and low maintenance costs. However, some of them are roomy and functional enough to qualify as the only car in the family. Such as, for example, the German models “Opel Corsa C” (2000-2006), “Ford Fiesta” and “VW Polo”, produced from 2001 until restyling in 2005.

The sixth generation Ford Fiesta debuted in the fall of 2008. The model from Cologne immediately won the hearts of lovers of modern, elegant and easy-to-use compacts. It quickly became the second best-selling car in Europe and the top seller in the B segment.

Success can hardly be considered a matter of chance. Ford Fiesta has a compact and proportional body, and despite the passing years, it still looks fresh. The rising line of the windows and the spoiler on the trunk lid give the compact a predatory look. Fiesta looks especially attractive in pastel colors. It’s a pity that it’s not easy to find such a color on the secondary market; “serious” colors dominate there. In 2012, the model underwent a facelift - Ford significantly enlarged the radiator grille and refreshed the line of power units.

Body and interior.

There were several body types to choose from: a 3-door hatchback and a more practical 5-door hatchback. The first one causes difficulties not only during boarding and disembarking rear passengers, but also in tight parking lots due to the wide doors. There was even a sedan available in some markets.

Attractive body hides modern interior. Decent materials were used in its finishing. The top of the front panel has a soft-touch coating. The unusual layout of the center console is pleasing to the eye, the instruments are easy to read, and the meaty steering wheel fits perfectly in the hands.

Ford was unable to avoid several misfires. The amount of space in the second row is limited: tall passengers do not have enough free space in the legs. Luggage compartment has a reasonable capacity of 290 liters, but there is a significant ledge when the back of the sofa is folded. The high edge of the luggage compartment makes it difficult to load shopping bags. The improved multimedia system is not the easiest to use, but after a while it still allows you to make friends with it. There are no handles on the headliner, and even on well-equipped versions, the rear windows can only be opened manually.

However, the list of additional equipment covers all basic needs. Most samples are equipped with ABS, ESP, airbags, audio system and air conditioning. 16-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery and climate control are much less common. It's worth looking for a Fiesta equipped with parking sensors: rearward visibility is severely limited.

Undisputed Ford advantages The Fiesta has comfortable, if small, seats and an ergonomic driving position. Let's add to this a precise gear selection mechanism and an informative steering wheel. As a result, we get a car that allows you to enjoy driving.

Chassis.

Conceptually Ford chassis Fiesta is not much different from its predecessor and is a combination of MacPherson and torsion beam. Correctly selected chassis settings provide a high level of comfort and good handling. The simple design bravely withstands traffic Russian roads. First of all, you have to change the bushings and struts of the front stabilizer.

A simple brake system is inexpensive to repair. On rear axle Most versions work with drums, which even for the “B” segment is a long-outdated solution.

The CV joints of the drives wore out relatively quickly. There was noise when cornering (TSI 7/2010).

Used in steering electromechanical amplifier with an electric motor on the steering column. Unfortunately, the electric amplifier sometimes fails. And you have to change it together with the steering column. The node is very expensive. It includes a control unit that, among other things, powers the electric motor. To do this, he transforms D.C. on-board network into variable.

The drive shaft joint may crack, affecting safety. Ford upgraded and lubricated the unit (TSI 10/19).

Engines.

Under the hood of the Ford Fiesta, most engines are time-tested: petrol engines with a displacement of 1.25 liters (60 and 82 hp), 1.4 liters (92 and 96 hp), 1.6 liters (105 , 120 and 134 hp) and diesel – 1.4 l (70 hp) and 1.6 l (75, 90 and 95 hp). Both turbodiesels were developed jointly with Peugeot specialists. Used compacts with the latest engines the latest generation - 1.0 liter petrol (65, 80, 101 and 125 hp), 1.6 (182 hp) and 1.5 liter diesel (75 hp) are not so popular.

Aspirated gasoline engines are not flexible. They begin to pull well only at high speeds, which affects fuel consumption and noise levels in the cabin. To enjoy the dynamics, you must choose at least a modification with 1.6 Ti-VCT. This motor equipped with a variable valve timing system, which, unfortunately, sometimes fails.

All gasoline units are representatives of the Sigma series and were created in collaboration with Japanese Yamaha back in the mid-90s. Of course they get further development. However, from the very beginning it is used here mechanical adjustment valve clearance. Only instead of calibration washers, pushers were installed, by selecting which the adjustment is carried out. Checking the gap is recommended after every 100,000 km.

Sigma series engines are truly very reliable. True, with high mileage they begin to slowly take up oil. The reason is wear and tear piston rings in combination with hardening of valve seals. This phenomenon is gaining momentum with frequent and long trips on high speeds. At the same time, oil consumption is about 2-3 liters per 10 thousand km.

After restyling in 2012, three-cylinder units from the Fox line appeared. They have a volume of 1.0 liters. The naturally aspirated version retained the commercial name Duratec Ti-VCT, and the turbocharged version was nicknamed EcoBoost. New motors are deprived balance shaft, and the timing belt is driven by timing belt with an extended service life - 240,000 km or 10 years. Durability was achieved by bathing the belt in an oil bath. Very rare is used here SAE oil 5W-20, which must meet Ford standard WSS-M2C948-D.

The hot ST version received a 1.6-liter Ecoboost after modernization. It's nothing more than turbocharged engine Sigma series.

Turbodiesels are much more flexible. Since mid-2010, all TDCi have been equipped with a particulate filter. The purchase of such a diesel engine is not recommended for motorists driving only around the city - the DPF filter will quickly become unusable. And after a few years of such operation, the turbocharger may need to be replaced. It is harmed by frequent trips with the engine not fully warmed up. Both TDCi are sensitive to fuel quality.

In the 1.6 TDCi, the turbine lubrication system fails - sediment forms in the oil supply line. Mechanics offer to inspect oil channel every maintenance, or change the pipeline every 50,000 km. To minimize the likelihood of sediment deposits, the oil must be changed at least once every 10,000 km. If the turbine fails, then the oil supply line must be replaced along with it. Otherwise, the new turbocharger will soon become unusable again. It is cheaper and easier to eliminate leaks that occur in the fuel injection system.

Transmission.

In addition to “mechanics,” Ford offered two types automatic transmissions. For the 1.4 liter engine, a 4-speed automatic transmission was provided, which provided a smooth ride, but limited dynamics and increased fuel consumption. For the 1.6-liter gasoline engine, a 6-speed automated transmission with double clutch Powershift. The box works correctly, but at a “rate of fire” German DSG It's better not to count. 1.6 Ecoboost was combined with a 6-speed manual.

5-speed manual transmission transmission received the designation iB-5. This is a modernized version of the B-5, which was created back in 1982. The prefix "i" appeared in 1996 and means improved. The modification was carried out jointly with specialists from Getrag. The box is quite reliable. Among the shortcomings, one can note only the leakage of the right-hand drive oil seal, installed at the factory.

The automatic machine with the index 4F27E was created jointly with Mazda. The box was assembled at the Sterling Heights plant in Michigan. To control the operation of the machine, six solenoids are provided, which sometimes fail. To extend the life of the box, the oil should be changed every 60,000 km. This requires a fluid that meets Ford specification WSS-M2C919-E. Alternatively, Mercon V can be used. ATF Dexron cannot be used.

Typical problems and malfunctions.

Ford Fiesta does not plague its owners with a series of endless malfunctions. Quite the contrary. The car demonstrated exemplary durability. The German association for monitoring the technical condition of vehicles DEKRA has no major complaints about the compact and in all respects rates the reliability of the Fiesta in class “B” above average. However, experts make complaints about crookedly installed reflectors, insufficient brake efficiency and leaking shock absorbers.

On some Ford Fiestas, the fuel filler door may become skewed and damage the paint (TSI 98/2009). Since October 2009, the hatch has been modernized.

The little Ford also scored highly in the ADAC report. Cars from 2009-2010 performed best. Among the disadvantages German experts called a battery high voltage wires, spark plugs and ignition coils, fan, radiator, starter, fuel pump, ignition system and immobilizer. The list of potential defects is quite long, but it’s good that the malfunctions do not affect key components.

It is worth noting that in 2011, Ford carried out a serious recall campaign to modernize the ABS/ESP hydraulic circuit pipes. They rubbed against each other, which could subsequently lead to brake fluid leakage.

The most serious problem with older Fords is corrosion. It is still unknown whether the compact was affected by the problem - too little time has passed. However, some owners testify that they find small pockets of corrosion in places of chips, under linings and along the edges of body elements.

There are also problems with the electrical system - malfunctions occur multimedia system And central lock. Over time, the trunk door lock may start to rattle. Sometimes the door trim also becomes a source of unpleasant sounds. In addition, light bulbs regularly burn out.

The popularity of the Ford Fiesta was reflected in the availability of spare parts. It is not difficult to purchase branded substitutes. Original spare parts have reasonable prices.

When looking at used cars from Europe, you need to be wary of white cars with a turbodiesel under the hood. As a rule, such machines worked for the benefit of various organizations. The stated mileage of 60-90 thousand km is most likely a hoax. More realistic figures are 140-180 thousand km. It is noteworthy that even with this mileage the car does not show obvious signs of wear.

The side windows of the Ford Fiesta sometimes make strange noises.

The sixth generation of the Fiesta sedan debuted in 2008 at the Guangzhou Motor Show. The location of the premiere was not chosen by chance, because the three-volume car was conceived with a focus on the Chinese market, but later went on sale in North and South America, Australia and some Asian countries, and in the third quarter of 2015 it reached Russia (already in an updated form ).

By the way, the restyled version of the car first “shone” on the stage of the 2015 auto exhibition in Sao Paulo, having changed in a similar way to the hatchback of the same name, but having received more transformations: the front and rear were redrawn and improved interior decoration, reconfigured steering and suspension, and instead of a 4-band automatic transmission, a 6-band PowerShift was installed.

The body of the four-door Fiesta in the front part is no different in its outline and design from those of the hatchback: trapezoidal radiator grille with horizontal bars, complex-shaped optics with LED running lights and a fairly prominent bumper.

From the side, this Fiesta is perceived as compact sports sedan, which is facilitated by the sloping hood, which turns into a roof pillar that is strongly tilted back, the line of which, in turn, actively falls towards the rear.

The rear of the three-volume model evokes associations with the “older” 4th generation Ford Mondeo, and the relationship is most clearly seen in the layout of the lights and the trunk lid.

The overall length of the sedan is 4407 mm, which is 438 mm longer than that of the platform hatchback; in terms of steel parameters, the models have parity: height and width are 1722 mm and 1495 mm, respectively. On wheelbase the four-door has 2489 mm, and the ground clearance does not exceed 140 mm.

The interior of the three-volume Ford Fiesta almost exactly copies that of the hatchback: a comfortable steering wheel with a 3-spoke design, a stylish instrument cluster recessed into “wells”, and an unusual center console divided into two floors. High level execution is supported by high-quality finishing materials, in particular soft plastics, piano lacquer inserts and metal elements.

Formally, the Fiesta sedan has a five-seater interior, but only four will be comfortable. The front row of seats demonstrates a well-thought-out profile with good side support and sufficient adjustment options, while the rear sofa provides the necessary headroom and legroom.

The sixth generation Fiesta sedan has a spacious luggage compartment, designed to carry 465 liters of luggage. The “hold” has a convenient configuration; the back of the “gallery” is transformed, freeing up space for transporting long items, but there is no flat loading area.

Specifications. In Russia, the Ford Fiesta sedan is offered in three petrol versions, equipped with a 1.6-liter 16-valve naturally aspirated engine, which is available in several boost levels.
Depending on the variant, the engine generates:

  • 85 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque,
  • 105 “horses” and 150 Nm of thrust,
  • 120 forces and 152 Nm of peak torque.

There are two gearboxes - a five-speed manual or a 6-speed PowerShift robot with two clutches; the wheels of the front axle are driven.

The 120-horsepower sedan with manual transmission, which accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds, reaching a “maximum” of 193 km/h. In general, absolute parity with the hatchback of the same name.

The “Sixth Fiesta” in a sedan body is structurally similar to the hatch: the B2E platform, independent suspension front and semi-independent rear, electric power steering, ventilated discs brake system on the front wheels and drum mechanisms on the rear (in the “top” versions there are disc mechanisms at the rear).

Options and prices. In Russia, the Ford Fiesta 6 sedan (2016) is available to buyers in “Ambiente”, “Trend” and “Titanium” versions at a price of 632,000 rubles. But for that kind of money, the equipment does not have any frills: it only includes a pair of front airbags, standard audio equipment for two speakers, 15-inch steel wheels, power steering, ABS, electric and heated mirrors and front electric windows.
You can’t buy the most “packed” option for less than 900,000 rubles, but it can boast in addition to the above: side airbags, air conditioning system, SYNC multimedia center, music with six speakers, ESC, HSA, heated front seats, alloy wheels, multifunction steering wheel and other modern features.
