Comparison of cars Kia Sorento II crossover and Kia Sorento II crossover restyling. Comparison of cars Kia Sorento II crossover and Kia Sorento II restyling crossover Which car is better for passengers

The European premiere of the new Sorento will take place at Paris Motor Show at the beginning of October 2014. New Sorento began to look more streamlined due to the increased length (by 95 mm to 4780 mm) and reduced height (by 15 mm to 1685 mm). Wheelbase the car increased by 80 mm (up to 2780 mm). Thanks to the increased size passenger seats All three rows of seats in the Sorento have become more spacious.

The new product retains the signature and already well-recognized features of the Kia brand - this is the radiator grille with the signature “tiger nose” and a characteristic three-dimensional “diamond” pattern. When creating the new exterior, KIA designers borrowed fresh styling elements from KIA concept Cross GT, first presented at the Chicago Auto Show in 2013.

But the long hood and wide rear pillars"migrated" from previous model. However, these details do not look at all like some kind of anachronism; on the contrary, they give some completeness to the exterior of the new Sorento.

The cost of the current Kia generations Sorento ranges from 1,254,900 to 1,709,900 rubles. Let's find out which ones are similar in technical parameters and at a price, cars can be purchased on our market.

Hyundai Santa Fe. Price from 1,239,000 rubles

Comparing Hyundai Santa Fe with Kia Sorento, it is difficult to find any significant technical differences. We can only talk about the specifics of the suspension settings, but we cannot say that one car handles worse than another; we can only talk about individual perception. The same can be said about the exterior, for some Kia design seems more modern, while others prefer more conservative and calm Hyundai style. IN basic configuration current Sorento generation equipped with a 2.4-liter 174-horsepower engine, which is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. For 1,239,000 rubles on Santa Fe there will be the same “set”, but only with “mechanics”. For the version with an automatic transmission you will have to pay 1,374,900 rubles

Nissan X-Trail. Price from 1,093,000 rubles

For less money than a Sorento, you can get a true off-road, four wheel drive vehicle. The reliability of the X-Trail has been tested by time; it has been on the market for a long time, since 2007. Light restyling in 2011 did not rid the X-Trail of either its brutal appearance or any brutal character. Today, such asceticism in design is already beginning to scare away. But, on the other hand, why do you need design when you are trying to overcome gullies and mud ditches. Sorento shouldn't even try to get into places where it can drive the X-Trail. By the way, a new one is expected to appear in car dealerships soon generation X-Trail, the exterior of which turned out to be quite nice and modern. But, more likely, the previous “democratic” price tag will disappear along with the brutal appearance of the X-Trail.

Opel Antara. Price from 1,069,500 rubles

The basic version of Antara is equipped with a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder ECOTEC petrol engine. power 167 hp, mechanical 6-speed PP gearbox and all-wheel drive. But more interesting option may be diesel version with a 2.2 CDTi engine (163 hp) with manual transmission and all-wheel drive. The price of this Antara in the Enjoy configuration will cost 1,218,500 rubles (by the way, the petrol version, but with an automatic transmission, is priced at exactly the same amount), which is quite comparable to the cost of the base Sorento.

Chevrolet Captiva. Price from 1,080,000 rubles

The Captiva is essentially a twin of the Opel Antara, only slightly larger. And its main advantage, like the Sorento, is the possibility of purchasing a 7-seater modification. The cost of a car with additional seats and a petrol 2.4-liter four with a capacity of 167 hp on a manual is 1,110,000 rubles, on an automatic - 1,222,000 rubles.

Let me introduce

Remember what cars were like? Honda years ten or fifteen ago? Progressive design, pronounced sportiness. We even called them “Japanese BMWs.” But Honda is a small company, there is nowhere to expect support in times of crisis - and technical delights are a thing of the past. Sic transit gloria mundi - Honda's image has faded considerably.

But in Russia, things are in shambles: by this summer, only the CR-V SUV, which is seven years old, remained in service.

There is safety in numbers. In June, CR-V joined full-size crossover Pilot - thanks to him, according to Honda, things should get better.

To be successful in the market you need to be better than competitors, and they are by no means weaklings - in any case, Ford Explorer and Kia Sorento Prime, which we took for comparative test. All cars have naturally aspirated V6 petrol engines with 249 hp. and six-speed automatic transmissions. Everything is fair.

Marks of Excellence

You look at the Pilot and wonder: why was it made an enlarged copy of the CR-V? Where is the original identity? The former angular, muscular appearance was immediately remembered - the Pilot always stood out in the crowd. And the follower is too average, too unemotional.

The Ford Explorer was just like that recently. Unprepossessing and dull. But after restyling he became more dignified - now he is stately and respectable. The length of the Explorer is over five meters. Superbison! It is so monumental that the sun never seems to set above it: it’s sunset in front, and dawn is behind it.

The Sorento Prime is slightly shorter, narrower and lower. From some angles you might even mistake it for a raised station wagon. “Squat” bumpers also contribute to this.

The Kia's interior also makes a car-like impression. Low-slung, progressive design - some of the style is reminiscent of premium cars. For example, an arc along the lower edge of the windshield, like in Jaguars, or wide decorative trims on the doors, looking at which you involuntarily recall Mercedes. Not bad examples for comparison, right? Of course, in terms of the level of materials, the “Korean” does not match them, but compared to its rivals it looks advantageous. And it also has the best front seats: with an excellent profile and many adjustments - you can even move the popliteal bolster.

The Explorer has even more adjustments, and in addition there is a massager, but the seats themselves are not so well designed. In particular, tall people lack the length of the pillow. As is usual with the “Americans,” they could not do without an electric drive for the pedal unit. An interesting thing, but, in my opinion, it would be better to make a normal platform for the left foot - the one that is there forces you to turn the foot to the right. I also didn’t like the speedometer, which was overloaded with double digitization (why do we need these miles?). But otherwise the interior is quite pleasant, although it still feels five years old.

The interior of the Pilot no longer evokes associations with military all-terrain vehicles - not a trace remains of the soldier's asceticism. Nice design, rich equipment. The upper part of the center console is given over to the advanced Honda Connect multimedia system with Android OS. Internet access, a navigator with a traffic monitoring system - competitors cannot offer such a service. The driving position is comfortable, but the seats are clearly not designed for thin drivers: you want to tighten the sides of the backrest. On the contrary, make the rim of the steering wheel more plump.

Visibility in the Honda is good: the windshield pillars are thin, the outside mirrors are large, and when you turn on the right turn signal, the screen displays the image from the right mirror - you can see everything! This signature feature debuted on the current generation Accord.

There is also an additional mirror for monitoring rear passengers. And there could be as many as six of them, since the Pilot is an eight-seater. The second row is the most spacious of the trio. You can move parts of the seat back and forth, like competitors, and change the angle of the backrests. And here multimedia system with a screen that folds down from the ceiling - only for Honda. I move to the seat last row: the legs are not cramped, there is also enough headroom in height, but it’s tight on the shoulders - you can’t go far with three people.

Ford's second row is more cramped. The lack of space is also felt in the luggage areas. But they can be folded and unfolded using an electric drive.

In the second Kia range the space is approximately the same as in a Ford, but there is no separate “weather” control panel - individual air conditioning is provided only for third-row riders. Strange decision: How often will it be busy if only preschoolers can sit quietly there?

So, I bought myself a crossover again. It was a pity to kill a sedan on our roads. Either you hit the bumper, or hit the threshold, or hit the rocks on the dirt road with the protection. The agony of choice lasted a long time. Either it was a used segment - Volvo XC60, BMW X3, or new cars - Subaru Outback, Mazda CX5, all these torments are reflected in my topics)

The main criterion when choosing were three main factors - higher ground clearance, automatic transmission and with a large car weight - four-wheel drive. I went on test drives of new cars. In principle, all of them did not disappoint me. Undoubtedly the best in interior design Mazda - quality materials, design. It is very spacious, despite its apparent compactness, playful, economical, with a really high ground clearance of 210-215 mm. Drives like a sedan.

Outback is all good, but poor liquidity secondary market, CVT (didn’t scare me at all), good equipment, including bi-xenon at a comparable price to the Sorento. If the bank had approved a soft loan, I would have bought it without hesitation.

Strengths:

  • Spacious
  • High
  • Fast
  • Four-wheel drive
  • Diesel
  • 6 automatic transmission

Weak sides:

  • Stiff suspension
  • Poor sound insulation.

Review of Kia Sorento 2.2 CRDi (Kia Sorento) 2014 Part 2

So, the odometer will soon show 6000 km. Some conclusions can be drawn about the car. I went through the winter without any problems. Started, drove, warmed up in the cold. In cold weather, the diesel engine rattles very harshly when starting up... sometimes I really felt sorry for the car... When I started driving, there was some kind of howling coming from under the hood, in frost below 20 degrees. At idle, the interior, as well as the engine, barely warms up, so I stood there for a couple of minutes, warmed up the automatic transmission back and forth, and off I went. It is not clear why, in principle, in such an expensive car, even in the option there are no such additional features as heated Windshield, heated wiper zone? Now even Kia Rio has begun to offer this option.

The car's cross-country ability with 4*4 cars and winter studded tires... let's face it... so-so... once I tried to get out of a rut from which I would have driven out on a nine without looking... in the end I didn't turn on the 4*4 lock and press the pedal all the way .. it would have stood there .. I already thought that it was in vain to take this 4 * 4)), but once I saw a front-wheel drive Santa who could not get out of a small hole at all without the help of a couple of people, I realized that extra 4*4 for heavy cars with automatic transmission.

Slowly I got used to the high seating position again, I realized that the car, in principle, handles well, does not scour the highway, confidently takes turns... but you have to pay for comfort. Stiff suspension, knocks the soul out of passengers on bumps.

Strengths:

  • Low fuel consumption,
  • low CASCO price,
  • fast,
  • powerful.

Weak sides:

  • Weak light
  • poor cross-country ability,
  • noisy salon,
  • hard suspension.

Review of Kia Sorento 2.2 CRDi (Kia Sorento) 2013

The agony of choice.

So, having sold my Rexton on August 31, I became the proud owner of a car. Rexton’s age (almost 5 years and 90 thousand miles) and the introduction of recycling fee, which no one knew how it would be paid. In addition, I wanted: a front-wheel drive crossover with the ability to connect to an all-wheel drive, diesel, normal size. Among those offered on the Ukrainian market were: the new Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, Chevrolet Captiva, and more dear Toyota and Mitsubishi Pajero. Ford Kuga (pre-styling), Tiguan and Nissan X-Trail were much smaller in size, but it’s high time for Nissan to retire. Of the petrol ones there were the new Mitsubishi Outlander, Honda CR-V new, Grand Vitara pension, well, that’s probably all.

Because before that, there was a diesel engine for five years - the choice was clear - only diesel. Hyundai and Kia are basically twin brothers, different design plus Hyundai has 1 cm less ground clearance and costs more. And it’s out of stock and we don’t know how long to wait. Kia has a very good design, calmer compared to Hyundai, very cool “eyelashes” on the DRLs. What I didn't like inside was the red lighting. Initially set to average configuration 7 seats, with xenon, leather and multimedia head. In Chevrolet, the desire disappeared when I sat in the cabin. Cool multimedia - navigation, rear view camera, plays MP3. But the radio turned out to be a separate unit - at the bottom of the “beard”, green in color. Just like during the union there was an “Electronics” watch made of small green squares. The second thing that killed me was some kind of super-cheap dermantine on the sides of the seats. Damn, cover it with fabric and that’s it. The seats themselves are like they were in the Lacetti. Just as soft and shapeless. Considering that there was already a Lacetti and imagining the pleasure of taxiing and the quality of workmanship, the choice was definitely given to Kia. Unfortunately, in Ukraine free cars there was none, so I had to take a cheaper “basic” package.

Many experts call the period of the 2000s the era of Asian crossovers. Indeed, just at this time there was a real automobile boom, in which SUVs played a key role. If earlier, European models were the undoubted leaders, then, with the beginning of the 21st century, the situation has changed dramatically in favor of Korean and Japanese cars.

Not only are they fighting for a place in the sun with cars from the Old World, but last years Competition between the Asian concerns themselves has intensified. This is precisely the case we will talk about today. In this article we will compare the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Kia Sorento - two crossovers that can safely be called old-timers in the automotive industry.

Santa Fe's career began in 2000. Analysts, even before the release of the model, predicted a great future for the car. One of the main reasons for this was considered to be the use modular platform from the legendary Hyundai Sonata. After all, according to most experts, the use of this type bodywork is a direct path to success. Due to the fact that the car was originally created for the US market, marketers chose a suitable name - Santa Fe. For those who don’t know, this is also the name of a city located in the US state of New Mexico. High demand on the new product, pushed the company to the idea that it was time to supply the crossover to Europe.

After several small updates, in 2006, the first second-generation car rolled off the assembly line of a company located in Alabama. New Santa Fe broke all sales records of its predecessor, and, for some time, became the so-called “bestseller” automotive market. Then there were two restylings, and, in the end, Santa Fe 3 was presented. It is worth noting that the developers also created a 7-seater modification of the car. By the way, he was twice recognized as the safest in the class.

As a response to a competitor, Hyundai company, in the winter of 2002 the premiere of the new Sorento took place. By analogy with its today's counterpart, the car was also named after the city, but this time the resort of Sorrento, located in Italy. Interestingly, the first generation model was classified as an SUV, as there were some differences between European and Asian automobile regulations. It cannot be said that Sorento greatly surpassed its competitors, but this did not stop it from showing good sales results.

In 2009, the second generation model was introduced. The developers worked on the dimensions and features of the body, so no one doubted that the Sorento was a crossover. In 2014, as part of an event in Paris, a presentation of the third generation Sorento took place. This event plunged car enthusiasts into a pleasant shock, since representatives of the Korean company did not inform anyone about the upcoming premiere. It was fantastic marketing ploy, since already at the end of the first month of sales, all possible records were broken. It's interesting that on Russian market The crossover is called Kia Sorento Prime.

Considering all the above information, when asked which is better, from a historical point of view - Kia Sorento or Hyundai Santa Fe, the second option looks more attractive.

Appearance

Today, Hyundai designers probably have nightmares about the time when the first generation Santa Fe came out. The exterior of the debut version of the crossover was not impressive, to put it mildly. No one could understand how it was possible to design the legendary Sonata module so ridiculously. Fortunately, the second generation Santa Fe, in addition to becoming a full-fledged crossover, also received an updated appearance. The designers focused on the modernity and technology of the car's appearance.

In turn, the third generation model could already boast one of the most striking exteriors in its class. I would especially like to note the ease and ease with which the developers managed to combine dynamism and sophistication into appearance Santa Fe. Interestingly, the car has already been recognized as the best in terms of design twice.

Kia designers, unlike their competitors, immediately put a lot of effort into designing the appearance of the Sorento. There are notes of aggressiveness in the exterior of the car, which gives the model an advantage over its competitors. It is worth noting that the debut version was considered an SUV, which is why dimensions were impressive.

The appearance of the second generation has changed noticeably. Fortunately for the company's fans - better side. The car was noticeably smaller and received a completely new front end. The appearance of the third generation crossover has undergone only spot improvements, among which I would like to note the installation new optics and fog lights.

At this point, the Kia Sorento looks stronger.

Salon

Despite the fact that both models are Korean, there are quite a lot of differences between their interior design. If, for example, the interior of the Santa Fe is made in the so-called premium style, where expensive finishing materials and high-tech elements are used, then in the interior of the Sorento there is simplicity and comfort. The designers relied on minimalism and equipped dashboard only the essentials. A huge advantage of the Sorento is that it is much more spacious than its counterpart.

Since the current situation looks very contradictory, we will award this confrontation a draw.

Specifications

If we compare the contents of the latest modifications of crossovers, the following situation arises: Santa Fe - three gasoline engines(2.0, 2.4, 3.3 l) and two diesel engines (2.0, 2.2 l), Kia Sorento - gasoline for 2.0, 2.4 and 3.3 l, and diesel for 2.0, 2.2 l. In terms of volume, everything is absolutely the same, but only the first crossover has slightly more powerful units.
