Kurgan Bus Plant (Kavz) - One of the largest bobbing plants in Russia. The plant ranks first in the production of passenger capacates (based on truck chassis) to work on the highway and rural off-road. For more than 50 years of its work, Kavz produced over 440 thousand buses.

The history of the plant began with the transfer of him in the late 1957 production of the buses of the Mark Paz-651a (upgraded GZA bus). It accelerated the launch of the enterprise, and already on January 14, 1958, after the new modernization, the production of the first Kavz-651A buses was established. These were the buses of a capotic type of small class (20-seater) based on the GAZ-51A truck chassis. Kavz-651a was produced for 13 years (1958 - 1971). Subsequent models of buses, as well as the first model, were based on the basis of the modified chassis of the Gorky Automobile Trucks. In the period from 1971 On 1984, a 21-seater bus model of Kavz-685 was produced on the basis of the Krugsky bus factory on the basis of GAZ-53-40 chassis. In 1984, she was rearranged on the base of the GAZ-53-12 chassis, and in 1986 received the Kavz-3270 index. The annual volumes of manufacturing Kavz-685 and Kavz-3270 buses in the 70s - 80s. In the first five years of its existence, Kavz has reached a very large annual production volume - 5,000 units per year. By 1967, the plant produced already 50,000 buses of the Cavz-651A model.

After the reconstruction of the plant (1967 - 1977), the production of buses was increased, it was possible to increase their quality, and the cost of reducing. In 1974, Kavz released his stothing bus. Since 1977, production volumes have grown by almost 2 thousand units, thus planned to achieve production capacity of 20,000 buses per year.

In 1981, the plant was made more than a dozen prototypes of the CAVZ-52561 model - the suburban bus buses with a high capacity. But the Ministry of the Automobile Industry suspended this project.

In 1982, a significant event occurred for the Kurgan Bus Plant: by the decision of the Supreme Presidium of the Council of the RSFSR Kavz became known as the "60th anniversary of the SSR Union". Moreover, the Kavz-685 m bus received the state award "Quality Sign".

In 1989, the Kavz-397620 model was released. It was a 20-seater bus on GAZ-33074 chassis. Later, the KAVZ-397620 bus was modified under cargo-passenger and special (sanitary, service, etc.) models. In 1993, by lengthening the chassis GAZ-33074 on a wheelbase (from 3700mm to 4550 mm), a 28-seater bus Kavz-39765 was created. In 2001, he was modified by GOST P51160 "Buses for the Transportation of Children" in the Kavz-397653 school bus. The serial production of this model began.

During the crisis of the 90s. The demand for low-capacity buses has decreased noticeably. Production facilities were sharply reduced to about the beginning of the 70s. Debts in front of creditors constantly increased.

The plant had to be replicated to the release of city buses of large capacity due to technical re-equipment of reserve capacity.

In 1993, the production of boats of carriage layout of aggregate assembly, designed for 24 passenger places begins. For these purposes, a year earlier, to create experimental models, a subsidiary of AK "Kavz" LLC "Vika" was created. At the same time, in 1992, the first buses of the Kavz-3278 clock layout began to be produced, Kavz-3275, Kavz-32784. In 1994, eight urban buses of large capacity of the Ikarus-260 model and two copies of the buses are especially large capacity of the Ikarus-280 model. Two years later, according to the international tender, the city of Yekaterinburg produced 168 units of the Ikarus model-283.10.

In July 1997, the Kurgan Regional Arbitration Court, on the initiative of creditors, made a decision on the introduction of external arbitration in the plant. In 1998, at the Kurgan plant began the development of new bus models on the basis of heavy chassis ZIL. Created urban (Kavz-422910) and suburban (Kavz-4229-01) buses. The plant also tried to conquer the market of watches. For these purposes, the production of all-wheel drive buses of Kavz-422990, as well as buses based on the chassis "Ural" was organized.

Releases in 1996 - 2003 Watch buses based on the chassis "Ural" and "Zil" (Kavz-422991, Kavz-422990, Kavz-42243) were limited, and after the restructuring of the plant - reduced, as products that do not match the profile. The latest released watch bus in 2004 was the Kavz-39766 "Sadko" model on the basis of the All-wheel drive chassis GAZ-3308.

In 2001, the Kavz enterprise became part of the major engineering holding "Ruspromavto", which at that time united most of the manufacturers of automotive and bus equipment on the territory of Russia.

In 2004, the plant began to assemble buses, the development of which was started in 2002 - Paz-4230 "Aurora".

In 2007, the small-sector production of a semi-arrival bus Kavz-3244 was fresh, which was carried out by the subsidiary of Vika LLC. The production of medium-sized city buses model Kavz-4239 was translated into the main conveyor.

In January 2008, the Kurgan Bus Plant celebrated the 50th anniversary. Then the enterprise was restructuring, and the CAVZ-3976 model was removed from production. The half-century history of the buses of the capotic type of small class on the basis of the cargo chassis gas approached the end.

The history of the Kurgan Bus Plant actually begins in 1958, when the first bus with a capotic layout is released - Cavz 651. It was a model designed on the elongated cargo chassis 51a. In total, 508 copies were released in the first year of production, in 1959 - 1511, and in the 1960s the gates of the plant left 3434 bus. During the first 5 years, Kavz reaches the design capacity of 5 thousand cars per year. By 1967, the plant managed to build about 50 thousand buses. In the same year, an experienced sample of service campaign 685 was produced, the basis of which the chassis GAZ 53 was produced. But the mass production of the model began only in 1971 after long-term tests.

In 1983, the production of upgraded buses of 685m models built on a gas platform 53-12-1040 was mastered at Kavz. Externally, the model almost completely repeated the predecessor, however, since 1984, the trapezoidal radiator lattice has changed recognizable rectangular shape. This, in fact, became the most serious difference between the renewed Kavz 685m from the 685th model produced earlier. In 1986, there was a light upgraded buses that received the identifier 3270. The distinctive external feature of Kavz 3270 is the characteristic roof transition in the windshield zone where the mechanisms of janitors were installed, as well as the information plate with route data. In 1953, the Magnifying enterprise began in Kurgan, which was planned to make military equipment and equipment. Simple in maintenance and repair, reliable, with good permeability, data buses-workers got widespread. Although the vehicles are mainly intended for the village, enterprises, watches and various organizations, they became familiar guests on the streets of small cities and megalopolises as public transport.

Kavz-865

In 1971, the older Kavz-651 at the conveyor of the Kurgan Bus Plant changed the new 21-seater model - Kavz-865. It was based on a more progressive chassis of Gorkovsky Automobile Plant GAZ-53-40. From the predecessor, it was distinguished by a more spacious interior, improved design, increased travelery, reliability and an increase in the interval between repairs.

These buses can still be found on the roads of the country. Four-strand workers are able to accelerate up to 90 km / h, but the recommended speed is 60 km / h. A significant disadvantage is the high fuel consumption (24 liters per 100 km). Among the obvious advantages are heated cabin, equipped with soft comfortable passenger seats.

In 1975, the bus restyling was held. In addition to insignificant technical changes, the appearance has changed a bit. In particular, round rear stop signals and lights were replaced with rectangular. The model turned out to be very successful: in 1975 she was assigned a "quality mark". Later (in 1986), improved modifications received the name of Kavz-3270.

Achievements

For the Kargan Bus Plant Kavz-865 turned out to be a sign. The bus of this brand became the most massive in the history of world automotive industry. In market conditions

In 1993, after the reorganization of the enterprise in the Kurgan Bus Plant OJSC, the successor appeared on the world - Kavz-39769. The model is characterized by an elongated chassis base (from 3.7 to 4.5 meters) and a noticeable increase in seats (from 21 to 28). There is a 32-seater modification of Kavz-39769, based on a 5,4-meter wheelbase. She became a prototype for a school bus at 34 seats. By the way, Kavz became the first in Russia, who received a license for the manufacture of specialized school buses.

Unfortunately, the following years have become uneasy for the enterprise. Previously, the main buyers of buses were collective farms and state farms. After their disappearance, sales decreased at times. For some time the plant still produced capotic models for watch, but in 2007 their release was minimized.

Revival

By the beginning of the 2000s, the financial position of the Kurgan Bus Plant was deplorable. In fact, Kavz was bankrupt. In 2003, the enterprise passed under the management of the GAZ Group of Companies, which has a beneficial effect on production activities. The plant was upgraded, updated the model range. Instead of capatic outdated models, the factory workers began to assemble the modern Baby-blind buses of the middle class of the Aurora series.

In 2011, instead of non-environmentalized engines, the Motors of Euro-5 ecostandart began to install Cummins engines. To date, under conditions of import substitution, foreign components are replaced with domestic. In particular, new power plants are tested by the Yaroslavl Motor Plant.
