The advantages and disadvantages of the Hyundai Elantra 2018-2019 in a new body were identified based on reviews real owners. More detailed benefits and disadvantages of Hyundai Elantra 1.6 and 2.0 with manual and automatic can be found in the stories below:

Owner reviews

After leaving the cabin, I noticed that there was vibration on the Idling when the box is in D, but I sinned on low quality gasoline. I thought now I’d fill up with 95 at Gazprom, and everything would be fine, as it was on Solaris (it never vibrated), but that wasn’t the case...

The first few days of ownership I really liked the car, after B class it drove just like a charm! In terms of handling, even the Polo couldn't come close. And in the cabin there was enough space for a child in the back row (I have a 10-month-old child, in Solaris, with his boots, sitting in a child seat, he rested on the seat, the front passenger had to push the seat back).

But later I began to notice that my car was jumping at speeds from 40 to 70 when I was rolling without gas. This annoyed me for two days, and I went for balancing, after which this problem stopped bothering me, but the vibration did not disappear anywhere, and the mileage was already 300 km.

The pendant is great! The new Elantra moves smoothly on rough roads and holds the road perfectly well on highways. Appearance and the salon is super! The headlights shine like spotlights. But that's it positive impression ruined the vibrations.

Video review

I bought it to drive comfortably (my first car was a VAZ 21144). I am very pleased with the car! The six-speed automatic transmission works as one with the engine and adapts to your driving style (calm or aggressive).

Fuel consumption in the city with a calm driving style in the heat with climate control turned on shows 7.3 liters per hundred. I fill up with 95 gasoline, although the dealer says it’s not lower than 92. The engine, judging by the reviews, is not picky about the quality of gasoline, since it is a regular 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine and not from the GDI line.

The new Hyundai Elantra 6 generally has good dynamics, which allows you to get far ahead in city traffic without even switching the manual transmission to manual mode. On the highway, the car behaves very stable, even with uneven wavy asphalt and speeds of more than 100 km/h due to the good aerodynamics of the body and long wheelbase.

The salon is very comfortable. The seats are made of perforated leather, and there is an air duct for passengers in the rear row. When driving on uneven roads, the cabin is quite quiet, but there is a slight noise from the wheel arches and extraneous noise from the glasses compartment (if they are there). The sound of the acoustics is quite decent.

Pavel, drives a Hyundai Elantra 2.0 (149 hp) AT 2016.

I got used to the machine immediately, I also immediately felt the dimensions. My fears of disappointment with the suspension turned out to be false. The Hyundai Elantra VI steers somehow smoother than the Polo, more impressively or something, but at the same time the steering wheel is informative.

It dives into turns confidently at any speed. It swallows potholes without problems, the car seems to float, and the suspension is very elastic, in two weeks there are no traces of breakdowns or impacts in the body, everything remains somewhere there). In short, I'm very pleased with the suspension, for me it's easy golden mean: not hard and not too soft, there are no questions about control either.

The ride turned out to be almost the same as in the Octavia (after all, the Skoda’s steering wheel has more information), only at a more reasonable price. Of the minuses, I can note the poor sound insulation of the wheel arches; it will make noise no matter what.

I also thought that 128 hp wouldn’t be enough for me, but it’s probably enough for now, because I’m still breaking in the engine and don’t spin it more than 3,000 rpm. I'm afraid that a 1.6-liter engine won't be enough for confident overtaking on the highway.

Roman, drives a Hyundai Elantra 1.6 (128 hp) 2016.

I bought it in July, today is April. Well, what can I say, the car turned out to be not bad, it is very different from the previous Elantra. Even regardless of the shortcomings that I will describe, the car turned out to be decent, although a little expensive. Overall I like it!

The suspension has become excellent, it eats up all the bumps and unevenness. Excellent comfortable salon. All buttons are at hand. When driving dynamically, you can feel how the steering works (this is with such dimensions). Excellent headlights. Good ground clearance.

Of the shortcomings, the most important is sound insulation, on high speeds like on an airplane. The monitor is, of course, ergonomic, but more could be done. The engine is loud high speed. The trunk hinges take up a lot of space when closing; something could fit in there.

Ilya, drives a Hyundai Elantra 2.0 (150 hp) AT 2016

Where can I buy?

What I liked most about the Elantra was its efficiency. In Eco and Normal modes, when driving on the Pacific Coast Highway, consumption was about 6 liters per 100 km. Pacific Coast Highway is no ordinary highway. A significant part of the route is mountain serpentines with ascents, descents and steep turns. We made frequent photo stops. Therefore, I consider 6 liters per hundred on such a highway to be simply a great indicator.

What I didn't like: poor sound insulation. On smooth asphalt, the cabin is relatively quiet. At idle there is generally silence - you can hardly hear the engine. But when the asphalt is rough and the speed is more than 60 km/h, the noise in the cabin goes off scale.

Review of Hyundai Elantra 2.0 with automatic transmission 2016

First impressions: after the 1.4 AT Solaris hatchback, the new Elantra drives more energetically, but how much more energetically I’ll write later, since the run-in and all that, I tried not to go more than 4000 rpm, but it’s nice to overtake trucks.

Visibility in the side mirrors is better, but in the interior mirrors - worse. I agree that the Elantra is a bit noisy after 100 km/h, but again, there’s nothing to compare it with.

Having left the showroom with almost zero mileage, I found myself in an hour and a half traffic jam. Consumption showed 60-70 liters per 100 km by the end of the traffic jam! I thought something was wrong, I pulled out of the traffic jam, and it turned out that she thought it was somehow strange. Now the mileage is 225 km and the consumption is 7-10 liters.

The instrument panel is like an instrument panel, I like the backlight, I am very pleased that there is an engine temperature scale (the “French” ones do not, I think this is bad). There is also a brighter/darker adjustment. There is no color screen, although I don't need it.

Review of Hyundai Elantra 2.0 (150 hp) automatic 2017

On the global market, Elantra is the bestseller of the Hyundai brand: over a quarter of a century, more than 10 million cars of five generations have been sold. In recent years, our Korean company has devoted all its efforts to promoting localized compact model Solaris, and Elantra were somewhere in the background. Now they remembered her too.

Have you ever been surprised by the transformation of an ugly teenage girl into a pretty girl?

So I look at the new “sixth” Elantra and think: this is just entropy, that is, “transformation”, if translated from Greek. The girl has matured! She matured, settled down, erased the tacky makeup and began to look stricter: more clear lines, less intricate twists and piles of planes. Now you can’t confuse it with Solaris.

Although the old Elantra is still visible - although the body and optics cuts are completely new, the proportions are generally the same: the long cap of the sloping roof “runs over” the short nose and trunk. And the dimensions have hardly changed, and the wheelbase has remained the same: not bad by the standards of the 2700 mm class. Therefore, in the back, as before, there is a lot of legroom - and, alas, little headroom. The distance from the seat cushion to the headliner has increased by only 4 mm, and this is catastrophically small.

But the interior... Is this really a Korean car?

Specialists from Hyundai told me that during the development new Elantra stylists unanimously abandoned the former Asian ornateness - and heatedly argued whose school of interior design to choose, American or European. Do you know whose one you took? Strict style without a touch of pretentiousness, laconic and easy to read instruments with display on-board computer between the roundels of the speedometer and tachometer, buttons on the console busily lined up in a row, a cool three-spoke steering wheel... Even though we didn’t get seat ventilation, like on Elantras for American market, but the driving position is just right, the seat profile is good and the steering wheel adjustment ranges in both planes are suitable. So the only things that prevented me from imagining myself driving a Skoda or Seat were the inexhaustible Korean reserves of blue LEDs in the backlight and the inexhaustible deposits of cheap plastic: only the top of the front panel and inclusions on the door trims are soft.

A button for communicating with the ERA-GLONASS system on the overhead console will appear with next year. Internet access and navigation are not provided in any of the configurations

Is it simply that the center console is turned towards the driver, albeit slightly, just seven degrees? After all, the old Elantra did not have a particularly pleasant driving character - and was upset by the lack of energy intensity rear suspension and rocking on uneven surfaces.

The platform of the new Elantra is the same, with a semi-independent beam at the rear. But the characteristics of all springs and shock absorbers have been revised, and the mounting points for the rear suspension elements have been changed. And... It's a completely different matter!

Easy to read dashboard a color display with an extensive menu appeared

After the springboards of sagging asphalt, there was not a hint of a peck or sigh. Tight! Perhaps too much: the Elantra shakes at the joints, and on the comb the itch reaches not only the steering wheel, but also the back of the seat. So I don’t recommend making sacrifices for the sake of beauty, choosing the largest and lowest-profile optional wheels of size 215/45 R17 (precisely these, with tires Hankook Ventus Prime 2, all test cars were shod).

Rear view camera - with dynamic prompts, but the five-inch screen is modest by today's standards

But I didn’t experience the familiar characteristic suspension breakdowns, even on a rocky road near Sochi in the area of the Olympic Krasnaya Polyana. So on off-road the main limiter will be small ground clearance: Under dealer installed steel guard engine compartment I measured a modest 13 cm. It’s a pity that the increase ground clearance was not included in the list of changes when adapting the Elantra for our market - but I note that, in addition to the “climate package” with a more powerful battery, mudguards and an enlarged washer fluid reservoir, it added the ability to run engines on 92-octane gasoline.

There is enough legroom in the back row, but not enough headroom. Only two-liter versions can boast of climate control ducts

By the way, if you buy an Elantra from Korea or the USA someday in the future, don’t be surprised that it will drive differently: “Russian” cars have their own – unique – suspension settings.

The roll in corners with the clamped suspension is small, but I still didn’t “fall” along the brand new desert serpentines in the mountains behind Rosa Khutor. The Elantra glides boringly, although safely - with the front end facing outwards. And if in the city crowd there is no misunderstanding with the electric power steering (the steering wheel has become a little heavier and more informative), then in fast, intense turns you feel a lack of “transparency”.

The rear seats can be equipped with two-level heating, and the front seats can also be equipped with position memory

0 / 0

And what encourages calm movement in space is not only the peaceful silence in the cabin (even at the maximum permitted speed, my fellow traveler and I communicated in a low voice), but also the power unit. A car with the same base engine I haven’t tried the 1.6 MPI Gamma series, but under the hood of the “older” version, the place of the 150-horsepower 1.8 unit was taken by a two-liter Nu series engine - which was derated from 155 hp. up to the same tax-favorable 150 forces.

In Sochi, I drove a two-liter modification with an automatic transmission. Comfort and smoothness of switching are in order, and if you are not in a hurry, then there is enough dynamics. But go actively even in sport mode option system Drive Mode Select (it changes the sensitivity of the accelerator pedal, steering wheel and gearbox settings) is possible only by turning the engine in manual transmission mode to the maximum 6500 rpm. To do this, by the way, you have to pull the transmission selector: none of the versions have paddle shifters, like the sister Kia Cerato.

The share of high-strength steels in the body structure has been increased by a third to 53%. A coefficient aerodynamic drag Cx was reduced from 0.28 to 0.27 thanks to more careful work on the bottom and front bumper: for example, the slits above the fog lights optimize the flow in the front arches

However, the smooth nature of the Nu-engine in conjunction with an automatic transmission is not a revelation: the same power unit powers the Hyundai i40, Tucson and many Kia models.

Another thing is the starting price of the Elantra, starting at 899,900 rubles. After all, a car of the previous generation could be purchased for at least 944,900 rubles! Philanthropy - or, if you prefer, philanthropy? Unfortunately no. And not the savings from SKD assembly on Kaliningrad Avtotor. It’s just that for this money a new, poorer Start package without an audio system and heated front seats will be available. Although with ABS, ESP, two airbags, air conditioning, electric windows, electric and heated mirrors, a hill start assist system and tire pressure sensors.

The remote trunk release feature allows you to lift the lid by standing next to it for three seconds with the key in your pocket. The trunk volume has decreased from 485 to 458 liters, and it is still hidden by bloating rear arches and loops

But for popular versions, prices increased by only 15-30 thousand rubles. In the Base modification (plus a CD player, Bluetooth and heated front seats), the new Elantra now costs from 974,900 rubles. The Active version (1,054,900 rubles with a manual and 1,099,900 rubles with an automatic) already has six airbags, dual-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, heating rear seats, rain sensor and alloy wheels. And the two-liter engine is only available “as a load” for the maximum Comfort version with LED running lights, cruise control, multimedia system with a five-inch screen, rear view camera, heated steering wheel, light sensor and front parking sensors. However, for a reasonable additional payment of 100 thousand rubles.

A full-fledged spare wheel is provided only for the Active and Comfort versions; on the “junior” trim levels - a re-roller

And, perhaps, in this situation, the prettier Elantra has a chance to squeeze out its competitors. After all, even in its previous form it was a strong middle peasant among golf-class sedans. Last year, for example, 5,122 cars were sold: not counting the cheap sedan Ravon Gentra(13,595 cars), ahead only of the Volkswagen Jetta (11,685), Nissan Sentra (7548), Toyota Corolla(6137) and a relative of the Kia Cerato (5495).

Hyundai Elantra – front wheel drive sedan“golf” class (according to the European classification), which combines: elegant design, a European-quality interior, modern technical “stuffing” and good level equipment... It is aimed at a wide target audience - young people, couples (including those with children), and people aged...

The sixth incarnation of the compact Hyundai sedan Elantra (the brand's global bestseller) celebrated its international debut in November 2015 - on the catwalks car show in Los Angeles, but first appeared to the public on September 9 - during a special event at the South Korean research complex in Namyang under the name Avante.

With the change of generation, the three-volume model parted with its “overly whimsical” design, increased in size, received a new interior, became more technically advanced and acquired previously unavailable options. In its homeland, the car went on sale immediately after the premiere, and before Russian buyers“arrived” only in June 2016.

In August 2018, the North American division of the South Korean manufacturer presented to the world community a sedan that had undergone a thorough restyling (and the scale of the changes was truly impressive) - its appearance was redone beyond recognition, noticeable changes were made to interior decoration and expanded the list of available equipment, but left the technical component without modifications.

From the outside, the sixth “release” of the Hyundai Elantra captivates with its beautiful, assertive and strict design, and its appearance harmoniously combines fashionable edges with soft body shapes.

The front part of the four-door attracts attention with the aggressive “look” of triangular lighting technology with sharp lines and an intricate “polygon” radiator grille, and its rear flaunts spectacular lights with LED “lightning” and a “faceted” bumper.

In profile, the “Korean” evokes associations with “four-door coupes” due to its deliberately dynamic shape with a short sloping “nose”, a sloping roof and a small “tail” of the trunk.

"Elantra" 6th generation performs in popular class"C" according to the European classification: 4570 mm in length, 1450 mm in height and 1800 mm in width. Wheelbase the four-door fits 2700 mm, and the clearance under its “belly” (clearance) does not exceed 150 mm.

Inside the “sixth” Hyundai Elantra, European restraint reigns and Asian pretentiousness is completely absent, thanks to which the interior looks attractive, but slightly faceless.

Behind the multifunctional steering wheel there is a nice and informative instrument cluster with two dials and a window. trip computer(“top” versions are equipped with a more elegant “instrumentation” SuperVision).

The center console, facing seven degrees towards the driver, is topped with an 8-inch multimedia screen and a stylish climate control unit (only in the “base” everything is much more prosaic - a plastic plug and an air conditioner).

“Korean” can boast of high-quality finishing materials, but still does not particularly seduce with their quality.

The front seats in the Elantra's cabin are undoubtedly comfortable - the comfortable seats have a good profile with good lateral support and a decent range of adjustments. Three people can easily fit on the back sofa, but if they do not feel a lack of space in the legs and width, then their heads may rest against the roof slope.

Volume luggage compartment for the Hyundai Elantra it is 458 liters (according to the VDA method). The back of the rear sofa folds in two parts, allowing you to transport long items, but the “hold” itself is devoid of hooks for packages and rigging loops. Under the raised floor there is a full-fledged spare tire and a set of tools.

For the Russian market, the sixth generation Elantra is equipped with two naturally aspirated gasoline engines with a four-cylinder configuration, a 16-valve DOHC timing belt and technology distributed injection, which are adapted to environmental standard"Euro-5". Each of the engines is, by default, accompanied by a 6-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive transmission, and for an additional fee is offered in tandem with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

  • Basic versions Korean sedan An all-aluminum “four” of the Gamma family with a volume of 1.6 liters (1591 cubic centimeters) with a timing chain is installed, which generates 128 horsepower at 6300 rpm and 155 Nm of peak torque at 4850 rpm.
With such a “heart”, the car spends 10.1-11.6 seconds to accelerate to the first “hundred” and accelerates to a maximum of 195-200 km/h (in both cases in favor of the “mechanics”), and in the combined driving cycle consumes no more than 6.6-6.9 liters of fuel depending on version.
  • For the “top” versions of the sixth “release” of the Hyundai Elantra, a 2.0-liter power unit (1999 cubic centimeters) is provided, which has a crankcase and block head cast from aluminum, and a gas distribution mechanism with phase shifters at the exhaust and intake. Its output is 150 “mares” at 6200 rpm and 192 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm.
Such a three-volume vehicle reaches the first 100 km/h after 8.8-9.9 seconds, the limit of its capabilities is 202-205 km/h, and average consumption gasoline does not go beyond 7.1-7.2 liters in “city/highway” mode.

The sixth incarnation of the Elantra is based on a seriously modernized front-wheel drive platform from its predecessor. The car's body structure consists of 53% high-strength steel, and the aerodynamically adjusted design and carefully crafted underbody provide one of the best drag coefficients in the class, Cx - 0.27.

Used on the front axle of the sedan independent suspension with MacPherson struts and a transverse stabilizer, and at the rear there is a semi-independent torsion beam with shock absorbers and springs. The steering complex on the “Korean” is represented by a rack and pinion gear and an electric power steering, and its brake system formed by disk devices at the front and rear (ventilated in the first case) with a diameter of 280 mm and 262 mm, respectively, and a set of modern systems.

Restyled Hyundai Elantra sixth generation is offered at Russian market in four equipment options – “Start”, “Base”, “Active” and “Elegance”.

The basic car is equipped exclusively with a 1.6-liter engine and manual transmission, and its cost starts at 1,049,000 rubles. By default, the four-door can boast: two airbags, air conditioning, ABS, ESP, heated front seats, four electric windows, heated and electric mirrors, 15-inch steel wheels, cruise, an audio system with four speakers, ERA-GLONASS technology and a small spare tire .

The “Base” sedan costs from 1,120,000 rubles for the version with 6 manual transmission, and the additional payment for 6 automatic transmission is 35,000 rubles. More powerful unit with 149 hp. comes with the “Active” modification at a price of 1,220,000 rubles, and the most “sophisticated” configuration (only with a 2.0-liter engine and automatic transmission) will cost from 1,315,000 rubles.

The “top” version of the three-volume vehicle has in its arsenal: seven airbags, light and rain sensors, dual-zone climate control, front and rear rear parking sensors, heated all seats and steering wheel, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a media center with a 7-inch screen, electric folding mirrors, a full-size spare tire and other equipment.

Hyundai Elantra is the “big brother” of Solaris. The car entered the Russian market in 2011 and has been produced in Russia since the previous generation. The production of the new model began in May 2016, simultaneously with Genesis sedan And crossover Santa Fe Premium. Of course, on the Russian market the model does not offer all the modifications that are provided, for example, for the American Elantra or the domestic Korean analog Avante, but in general the car satisfies the needs of most potential buyers. Functional advantages include a spacious interior and trunk (485 l). The absence of problems with service and spare parts, despite the fact that the car is quite unpretentious and reliable, makes the choice of used Elantra justified.
