Let us remind you that the enterprise celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, and exactly half a century ago, in 1966, the first Moskvich-408 rolled off the production line, the production of which was transferred to Izhevsk from the Moscow AZLK. A new stage in Izhavto’s development was its entry into the AVTOVAZ Group, which is part of the Renault-Nissan Alliance. Tolyatti Automobile Plant literally brought the Izhevsk site back to life, establishing here in the spring of 2011 production LADA 2107.

History of the enterprise.
April 1966 marks the beginning of the famous car brand IZH, because it was then that a serious decision was made to produce cars on the Izhmash factory conveyors. In general, the official date of birth of the enterprise is October 21, 1965, because it was then that the preparation of the production itself began, and accordingly it gave birth to the company itself.
First the legend was put on the assembly line domestic auto industry- "Moskvich-408". The Moscow Lenin Komsomol Plant provided components for production. It's already December 12 next year The first production model, Moskvich-408, with the IZH emblem adorning the radiator, rolled off the assembly line. It is interesting that by the end of the year about 300 of these cars were produced from the assembly line, and over the entire period the plant produced about 4,000 samples of this model, which were originally produced in Izhevsk.
The Renault Corporation, which was the general contractor of the company, increasingly expanded the scope of equipment supplies, attracting the interests of other companies. Equipment was purchased from France, as well as from the Japanese company Kumatsu. Specialists from other countries, including Germany, Italy and Sweden, were also involved in the development.
The company started working in full force after the main workshops were put into operation, because then about 500 units of various equipment were involved. Conveyor lines lasted for tens of kilometers, and robots and auto lines helped paint cars, which had a positive result.
Already in December 1967 it was released next model- Moskvich-412, and after 10 years from the assembly line Izhevsk plant The millionth car of this brand came off the market. After some time, the company put two new models to testing by the state, these were: famous brands, like 2125 “Combi”, as well as 2715, designed for transporting goods.

Four years later, a new progressive model, the production sample IZH-2126, passed all tests, and already in 1991, a completed model of this sample, called “Orbita,” was released. Of course, one could only dream about the prospects of the enterprise, because until 2000 the company experienced major stagnation and production decline. The management did not receive support from Sberbank of Russia, which is why the company went bankrupt. The debt amounted to about 7.74 billion rubles. The company was forced to pledge a controlling stake in IzhAvto.
On April 29, 2009, the company ceased operations and car production stopped. Next there are discussions about the future of IzhAvto. After the appointment of new management, it should again become state-owned, but many analysts interested in the future fate of the enterprise say that most likely it will be sold to someone for a certain amount. The conveyor is frozen in anticipation, production is temporarily frozen, but thanks to possible investments, production should be established already in soon, but, of course, what kind of products the enterprise will produce depends on their source.

Car production at the Izhmash plant in Udmurtia began in April 1966. Already in December 1966, the first Moskvich-408, developed at the plant named after. Lenin Komsomol Moscow.
