A bit of history

Italdizain's Luchiolla concept was originally intended for Fiat. But they found it not handsome enough to bear the name of an Italian car.

The Italians made Fiat Seicento for themselves, and Matiz eventually went to the Korean company Daewoo, which since 1997 has been assembling it and sending it to the Old World. There, the model immediately became a bestseller in its class. When, five years later, in 2002, the assembly of the baby in Uzbekistan was established, he broke through to our market.

The car was also assembled in India and Romania. In addition, the Matiz of the same name was sold under the Chevrolet logo and a dozen other names from six different brands. Matiz's options included such benefits that were not available to the same AvtoVAZ at that time, such as air conditioning, a CD-radio tape recorder and a power steering.

When buying, the consumer had to choose only options and body color. The power unit was originally the only one - a 0.8-liter three-cylinder engine of 52 forces plus a 4-speed "mechanics". Such a tandem accelerated the car to "hundreds" in 17 seconds. Later, a 4-speed "automatic" Jatco was supplied for this engine. They stopped installing it in 2009 due to inconsistency with the environmental standard "Euro-4" that came into force.

In 2003, a liter engine with a capacity of 64 hp began to be installed on the Matiz.

In addition to gaining in acceleration to "hundreds" (about 4 seconds), this engine worked much quieter and smoother than its "little brother", especially at idle, but the automatic transmission was not available to him.

Engine

The younger 3-cylinder 0.8-liter engine is the fruit of the joint efforts of Daewoo and Suzuki. Before overhaul, it can withstand an average of 150,000 km. Transmission

There are few offers on the market with automatic transmissions, but it is quite possible to find a car. Jatco's 4-speed automatic is as ancient as it is reliable. By and large, MCP modifications do not cause much trouble. The average clutch life is 70,000 - 80,000 km. But the gearshift cable can be frayed already up to 40,000 km. It will be necessary to change the oil on a "hand-to-hand" transmission for the first time already at 20,000 km, and then it must be done every 40,000 km. Suspension

The suspension of the car is simple: in front, Matiz sways on McPherson, in the back - on a beam with trailing arms. Although the car weighs a little, the front ball joints only last 50,000 km. Salon

If we talk about the luggage compartment, then there is not so much space in it - 155 liters of usable space.

But again, you should not demand more from him than he can give, because this is a small compact city transport. There is also good news - if necessary, you can fold the rear seats and increase the free space to 480 liters, which is already a lot. Only a couple of passengers can fit on the back "sofa", but the third one will be extremely inconvenient.

It may come as a little surprise, but even a driver who is 185 cm tall will not rest his head against the ceiling and will not feel discomfort from the contact of the steering wheel with his knees. However, the driver and the passenger sitting next to them can touch each other with their shoulders, and behind a rather big driver or passenger, there is even less free space on the back sofa.

It is also unusual that in the most stuffed modification, electric adjustment is provided only for the mirror, which is on the right, when it is mechanically adjusted as the one closest to the driver (left).

Interior features

Its batteries are located under the rear sofa, under the hood and in the luggage compartment, and the electric motor itself is located on the rear axle.
